One of the hardest lessons to learn (for me at least) was that I don't have to break myself in order to finish projects. If my new outfit, class, or performance piece isn't ready by Thursday before the event - that's okay. I'm not going to pull an all-nighter to finish it. I can keep working on it later. If it gets done, it gets done. It's done wonders for my burnout and for rekindling my love for the creative process. In this case, "no" means "not right now" and that's okay. I ended up winning, so yay! — I demonstrated two translations of Chapter 8 in Alfieri’s fencing treatise, ‘La Scherma.’ The translations vary enough toward the end that it really changes the martial interpretation. What am I now?

I'm no longer Chatelaine, and my Shire got a volunteer to take my place. I haven't gotten the Shire's Gold Key to her yet, but once it's gone it's final. I'm no longer the new person helper.

I think the part that bothered me the most was, I told several members of the House I belong to that I was really unhappy, and they seemed surprised I quit. I had a year long period where this was sucking the life out of my interest in the SCA and people are surprised? I really feel like if you do service, you will become invisible. That it happens more then it should.

Morgan once told me "If it doesn't make you happy, don't do it. " I'm about there currently with the SCA, and that makes me so sad every time I think about it.

Now my question in this game we call Society for Creative Anachronism: if I'm not defined by my office, what am I?
