#soap plotting for more shenanigans

Note
Love the the college/uni au so so so much 🥰
Do soap and gaz pull dorm shenanigans? Do they drag ghost into it? Also do anyof them do any clubs?
I'm so invested in this. It's actually insane
for dorm shenanigans it’s really just them being assholes to each other because they Are paying to be there and Would like a place to live
but that being said, they do also have a secret dorm cat. only a select few people know of it and other than a few close calls with their RA, they’ve managed to have it as a well-kept secret
when ghost finds out he’s torn about being upset over the burden of knowledge of this prohibited cat because despite his demeanour/etc this fool is the Biggest goody two-shoes, but also he is absolutely enamoured with this sweetheart of a cat (or, sweetheart of a cat when it comes to ghost. it only tolerates soap and gaz)
beyond the cat, ghost hates being dragged into gaz and soap’s schemes once they all become friends (or, “friends” in his and soap’s case) but can never find it in himself to say no to going along because he knows he has a knack for getting away with things and he’d rather not see these two idiots get into trouble that was entirely avoidable. so he always begrudgingly says yes to their plots
as for clubs, soap is in anything and everything chemistry-related. it’s a miracle he isn’t banned from anything because of the amount of times he’s made small explosives/explosions with knowledge he Did Not Learn from university
ghost is a co-president of an english lit club. he’d be in other literature clubs for certain if he didn’t have work & TA-ing to deal with
and gaz is more of a sports-team guy. anything he has the vaguest interest in he Will try out for and will Very Likely make the teams

I’m baaaaaaaaaaaack. 😇
friskito has returned!! didja miss me?
I never meant to disappear into the ether like I did, and I can’t guarantee this is me 100% back to where I was, but we are taking life as it comes, folks!
my darling @prolix-yuy tagged me in a wip game a few weeks ago, so I figured what better way to announce my return than to tell you what I’m working on and what’s coming soon! (also, just as a little note, I’m gonna start posting a lot more on ao3 as well!)
so, without further ado….
STRAWBERRY WINE: you didn’t think I was gonna leave this one unfinished, did you? I’ve got not 1, not 2, but 4 parts completed, ready to be edited and posted once the motivation grabs hold. part 32 will be up FEBRUARY 3RD (brace yourselves!)
DISOBEDIENCE (PART II): I said there’d be a part 2 when I posted part 1 back in….October, and it is officially in the works. no date, but we’re getting there.
BLACK BUTTERFLIES and DÉJÀ VU: the Soap Mactavish little sister AU nobody asked for…reader x Ghost, follows the timeline of the MWIII game (did I cry playing the game? yup. did I cry writing parts of this fic? also yup) - not complete but multiple parts, part 1 will be up FEBRUARY 5TH.
ONE PLUS ONE: for my calculated risks lovers! I truly cannot believe it’s been a year since I update this story, but one is on its way! a glimpse into their wedding night, and some well-deserved shenanigans…! this will be up FEBRUARY 14TH!
and I can’t really classify these at WIPs because have I started them? nope. do I really want to write them? uh YES.
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS: I hinted at this one before - santi garcia x reader x frankie morales. based on the tswift song, prepare for angst and drama and a sprinkling of heat.
THE UNTITLED DIN DJARIN HOCKEY AU: I know there’s gonna be 4 parts (like 4 periods in a hockey game hahahaha) but is there a plot yet? nope. all I know so far is rink medic x hockey player din, modern setting, the rest has yet to come to me!
so there you have it! my inbox is open if anyone wants to say hi (or has thoughts about anything that’s on the horizon!) xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxo
and tagging a few potentially interested peeps (again i’m SORRY I LEFT FOR SO LONG 😭)
@iamskyereads @psychedelic-ink @inklore @winchestershiresauce @thevoiceinyourheadx @theradioactivespidergwen @wildemaven @amywritesthings @steadyasthe-flowers @undercoverpena @splendiferous-bitch @munsonownsmyass @alwritey-aphrodite @vermillionwinter @spacecowboyhotch @nothoughtsjustmeds @saintmurd0ck 💕

Bunny ghost anon, reveling in your hatred 🩵and also the awesome ficlet. Wishing I could draw so bad to sketch out Ghost tied by HIS rear legs together. Johnny would know just how to do it right. Also now debating which would be more compelling: Soap not knowing that Ghost was a rabbit at all and developing the most guilty complex about his attraction OR him clocking it near-immediately because he’s being seeing those twitchy mannerisms his whole life (which makes him showing off that book a spectacularly messed up mind fuck) - 🐇👻
Tumblr media
YOU!
Do you know what you've done?!
Well I hope you're proud of yourself yourself.
Not only did you give me wonderful inspiration for that little ficlet, you also inspired THIS! wonderful gif, created by my friend @tactax-art . And while it was drawing and animating said gif, we brainstormed and now I've got plans for a 5 chapter fic! It's got it all! Plot! Angst! Porn! Rabbit shenanigans! And its all. Your. Fault!
(I'm really excited about this, so many great ideas, seriously anon, you're fuckin' cookin' with these ideas)
So I hope you're happy. Be prepared for weird bunny sex. Knife play, ropes, biting. You fucking asshole. (Thank you ❤ I wish I could tag you when I get it up on Ao3, but just know that it's entirely your fault)

What are some of your favorite novelas, Petty? I grew up loving them too and personally I will ALWAYSSS show up for anything Fernando Colunga is in!
Anon, I'm not giving you some of my favorites. No. I'm giving you my favorite - If you know this bitch (affectionate and derogatory), you KNOW where this is going!
Tumblr media
For all the BL people, this is why @italianpersonwithashippersheart, @lukaherehelp, and I are having no qualms about Twins or Playboyy.
Telenovelas, soap operas, y lakorns have trained us well for these shenanigans and hijinks.
Why y'all can't remember twenty-two people's names is beyond me, but I had them down the first episode.
Why y'all don't like the tonal whiplash is odd to me because for me, ten minutes on one couple is TOO MUCH TIME. Six minutes, TOP, and move on to the next one.
Someone getting stabbed in one scene then the next scene being someone celebrating at a birthday party is the way I like my shows, and don't let that person be getting stabbed AT that birthday party because that is my bread and butter.
Oh, and TWINS!
Tumblr media
My favorite show includes all of these fine points, and it's the 1998 Mexican telenovela called
La usurpadora
Tumblr media
Somewhere in fictional hell, Soraya Montenegro from María la del Barrio is pissed as fuck.
Tumblr media
The plot: Paola is a rich bitch and wants to leave her husband for her evil lover but can't figure out how.
Tumblr media
¡Sorpresa, cabrona! She meets a worker who looks just like her while on vacation or some shit.
Tumblr media
Paulina is the other woman and she is too poor to contour. Therefore, rich bitch Paola convinces kind and caring Paulina to be her stand-in. Paola tells Paulina she will live the best life and be rich, while Paola can be free. It's a win-win.
¡MENTIRAS!
Paulina refuses! So Paola blackmails her into doing it, and with her mother dead, her fiance gone, and no job (since she was fired as part of Paola's blackmailing scheme), Paulina is forced to take the offer. This is like episode 2 out of 102.
In the next 100 episodes, we get forty-five other characters who are all important to the plot, amnesia, cheating, murder attempts, Paola pretending to be paralyzed, Paulina GOES TO PRISON, someone discovers they are actually twins (no duh!), and a crap ton of more drama.
Oh, and the car crash!
Tumblr media
But God got Paulina, so she good. Even in the sequel when she had cancer, pero no, she was just pregnant.
Tumblr media
The show is based on a 1971 Venezuelan telenovela that was adapted from the book La Intrusa, and has since had several remakes. One was in 2019, which made Paulina Colombian (or was she always Colombian?), and A MUSICAL THIS YEAR!
Tumblr media
It holds a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes because the people know this was a 🎁🎁🎁 from God, and it is not up for debate because it featured men dancing around singing Celia Cruz's "La vida es un carnaval" y Selena's "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom." This movie is the moment.
Tumblr media
The lead is Cuban actress Isabella Castillo Díaz who played in America and México's co-produced telenovela ¿Quién es quién?, which is basically the boy version of La usurpadora because of the twins plot. Do you see the theme?
Tumblr media
But back to the musical, which also features Drag Race superstar, Valentina. If you know this bitch (affectionate and derogatory), you KNOW!
Tumblr media
The 1998 version and musical both embrace the camp of it all. The music in the original 1998 version was peak telenovela, and even if you don't speak Spanish, readers, just watch the first minute of this video. I promise you it will be worth it, and it will give you three perfect examples of the *vibes* I'm always rambling about.
youtube
So, yeah, Anon, I hope this explains a lot of about my taste in BLs. I'm here for a show, not the show. Soraya understands.

Can I please have a small oneshot on a topic "What does Simon Riley need"? Maybe it's a promotion, or a raise? An apology, maybe? Can be also not so serious, maybe 'steal Soaps practice chanter, so the base can live in peace and silence for at least one evening'. Love-love-love!
Ooooooh I like it! I set it before my fic, I'm sure people are absolutely fed up with finding Riot everywhere.
Also, I can't write short things it seems! Thanks for the ask, I had a lot of fun! <3
''What do you mean, there's nothing else to do?''
Captain Price sighed, looking up from his own paperwork to find Simon's glaring brown eyes fixed on him. The Lieutenant was standing right in front of his desk, arms crossed, his looming, imposing frame almost obscuring the entire view of the office's door.
''Simon, it's a bank holiday. More than half of the privates are on leave, and the training drills are on hold. There's no one to train, no new paperwork, no vehicle needs fixing''
''Give me some of your paperwork then''
Christ, he sounded almost desperate. For someone else, Ghost's voice was as deadpan and inexpressive as always, but for someone who had known him for more than a decade, from before he was Ghost, it was easy to distinguish the little details. The stiffness of his broad shoulders, the way his fingers dug in his own biceps while crossing arms, the way his eyes were almost pleading.
''I'm almost done and I'm leaving, I just have to sign it. And no, you can't forge my signature''
''Well, in fact I can''
Price chuckled, shaking his head and making a show of how he was signing the last paper. Ghost groaned, tempted to just throw his hands in the air, but he simply walked over to the window to look out. The base was eerily silent.
The Captain waited patiently, checking his papers, but in reality he was observing the Lieutenant. It wasn't unusual for them to spend hours in silence in that very office, doing paperwork and sharing a glass of whiskey, sometimes even a cigar. He knew how to deal with Simon, he had done so countless times in the past. He just had to wait.
Sometimes, he even knew how to deal with Ghost.
''I just need something to do'' The younger man muttered at last, his back still to his superior officer.
Price nodded knowingly, tossing the stack of papers on his desk and leaning back on his chair, looking at Ghost.
''Well, there might be something...''
''What is it?'' Simon turned to look at him, not even bothering to hide his anxiety. He needed something, anything to do, to quiet down his mind.
''Soap and Gaz are plotting something in the common room'' Price checked his watch, with a serious face. ''I heard them during breakfast. I didn't quite catch what it was''
''Knowing them, nothing good'' Simon was already thinking of the possibilities, each one grimmer than the last. They could be planning to make the microwave explode. Or maybe fill the room with post-its, one of them had done so to their office, so it wasn't beyond them. Or, God forbid, they could be planning to stuff the sofa's cushions with glitter. They had already done that as well.
''Exactly'' The Captain nodded, observing with satisfaction how Ghost's eyes were already distant, his brain trying to come up with a plan to discover the Sergeants' shenanigans. ''I trust you'll keep an eye on them to make them behave, Simon''
Ghost just grunted. He didn't want to appear thankful or anything, but Price took the sound for what it was, and waved him goodbye while the Lieutenant left the office, his heavy steps echoing in the hallway until they faded in the distance.
*
When Ghost was halfway down the corridor, with the common room's door in his sight already, he could hear it. The microwave. Popping sounds and giggling.
The fucking microwave.
He quickened his pace and threw the door open, ready to sternly tell off both MacTavish and Garrick, only to find them excitedly gathered around the microwave, with an empty bowl and another bowl full of... popcorn.
They were making popcorn.
''Lt!'' Soap's wide grin welcomed him. ''Do you want to join us? We're going to watch a film!''
Even Gaz looked glad to see him. Ghost's eyes narrowed beneath his balaclava.
''What are you plotting?''
''Right now, just to get all the kernel to pop'' Gaz shrugged, still smiling and then watching again the microwave. Both Sergeants were giggling with glee each time there was a loud pop sound coming from inside, and Ghost considered for a moment if they had hit their heads earlier in the day or something.
''Are you sure that's all you're doing?''
''Aye, Lt... There's nothing to do, and most people have left for the holiday. Oi, care to join us?''
The Lieutenant considered his options. He could leave, which was his usual choice, and then the two Sergeants would finally do whatever it was they were planning to really do. Or he could stay, and twart their plans.
''Hmph'' He grunted, nodding gruffly just once. Soap's grin widened, and put the bowl full of popcorn in his hands, and Ghost stood there, not really knowing what to do while the Scott grabbed another.
The microwave started beeping, and he almost stepped back, completely sure that it would explode and that it was all a ploy, but Gaz simply opened the door and opened the bag to drop the hot popcorn in the empty bowl, so that the three of them had a bowl each.
The two Sergeants sat down on the sofa, leaving the armchair for him. That's what Ghost preferred anyway, and the three of them were too big to share the sofa without being all over each other like a pile of rags.
''What are we supposed to be watching?'' The Lieutenant asked, a bit of scorn in his voice, obviously not really believing their story. But Gaz and Soap were just smiling like little, innocent kids while the Scot turned the smart TV on and inserted an USB.
''I downloaded one of the films I used to watch as a kid with my fam, and Gaz used to watch it too! So we thought we'd go down the memory road''
''Murder by Death'' Gaz laughed, his mouth already full of popcorn. ''Have you watched it, Lt?''
''Can't say that I have'' God, even the title was absurd. What did Price think these two idiots would...?
Crap
Price
The fucking old man (only older than him by a few years, but old nonetheless).
Ghost was tempted to stand up and go find Price so he could stuff his throat full of popcorn, but in that moment the film started and Soap and Gaz cheered like two idiots.
He would have smiled if it hadn't been so fucking stupid. But the smell of the popcorn, and the... nauseatingly, pleasantly domestic feeling that was creeping in while he observed the two younger men all giddy...
He'd stay for a bit. Just to make sure they would behave.
*
An hour later, Price was passing through when he heard laughter coming from the common room. Three voices.
One was Soap, laughing hysterically. Gaz's laugh was a bit quieter, but he seemed to be enjoying it just as much. And the third voice...
The Captain stopped in his tracks, just to listen to it a bit more. Simon's laugh, which he hadn't heard in years. He had heard chuckles, snorts, maybe a short barked laugh. But not that belly laugh that Price remembered so fondly and so sadly.
Smiling, he continued his way, satisfied. His own little plot had worked beautifully. He still got it.

Masterpost of AUs
As promised, here's the (wip) masterpost of all my AUs. In alphabetical order with a short synopsis, and the tags are all on this post so you can easily search them up :) if there's any I missed, please send them to me so I can get them added! If the laat tags aren't alphabetized that means I need to get on my laptop and move them around lmao
Bittersweet Reunion AU
TFA AU wherein the jet twins are Starscream's offspring specifically produced by the autobot government, and their finding out kicks off an entire domino effect storyline
Blitzbee Baby AU
Exactly what it sounds like. TFA Bumblebee gets Blitzwing sparked up and neither of them realize until he enters emergence
Cross Dimensional Shenanigans
- Umbrella tag for anything that involves more than one iteration of transformers interacting with each other
Cross Dimensional Starblitz
- How the CDS started. Focuses solely on TFP Starscream and TFA Blitzwing’s weird friendship
Cryptid Seekers AU
- Everything is the same except seekers are terrifying cryptids. Nuff said
Cybermorphs AU
- An AU in which a group of warframes working off planet accidentally stumble into an ancient, buried xenomorph nests, and come back to Cybertron bearing what becomes the first generation of cybertronian-xenomorph hybrids, aka the Cybermorphs. Features a lot of world building, Cybermorph Queen Megatron, a lot of fun alien biology, and some angsty MegOP among other ships
Cybertronians Are An Invasive Species
- No war AU wherein cybertronians are an invasive pest species that have moved onto earth and cause the most havoc
Cybertronians Are An Invasive Species: The Soap Opera
- Takes place in the invasive species AU, but specifically is about a goofy soap opera created by humans with the bots as the inspiration
De-Extinction AU
TFA, the autobots have finally run out of stored Allspark energy and, seeing as the artificially created population is completely sterile, are now an officially endangered species. Their only chance at salvation lies with the decepticons and their ability to produce "sparklings"... whatever those are 🤭
Hindsight AU
- Aligned continuity. Arcee goes back in time in an attempt to stop the war with the help of Vector Prime, accidentally creates a much worse world. Goes through several crazy timelines, currently on the Self Imposed Exodus.
OS×BB AU
A TFA storyline wherein Omega Supreme wakes much much earlier than canon, becoming truly self-aware and sentient. He and Bumblebee form a connection and Things Happen
Shadows House AU
- Exactly what it sounds like. All of our favorite bots and cons are parasitic fae members of the Shadows Family. Megatronus is plotting to bring it down from the inside. Lots of secrets and spooky stuff
Subnautica AU
- Starscream and Skyfire (and sometimes the other seekers) stranded on the terrifying hell planet, 4546B
Terran Task Force
- An angsty AU that involves GHOST getting their slimy hands on the Emberstone and making legions of their own little terran warriors
The Repopulation Project
- A dystopian future AU wherein the autobots won the war, and in an effort to save their species from extinction, implemented the repopulation project. It warped and twisted over time til the war frames are kept as nothing but livestock to be bought, traded, and harvested. In an attempt to change the horrific conditions of their present society, Optimus gambles by having decepticon high command reborn in the hopes that they'll be able to overturn the huge mess he made
Unicron Reborn AU
- Technically an AU/what-if of the 5th timeline of Hindsight. Unicron is killed and later reborn as a sparkling on Cybertron; Megatron adopts him. Later gives rise to The Spawn

Rate how angsty all of the ROS routes from 1-10
( ;´д`) Oh goodness, I’m not the best at determining numerical values based on subjective criteria. The extremity of angst can be rather subjective, right?
Uh, I’ll give a number (or, rather, a range of numbers) for each route, but take them with a pinch—probably even a handful—of salt!
There’s also a lot that could amplify the elements of angst for different routes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is a very general scale, one that makes some assumptions to reach an 'average' angst rating.
I’ll also try my best to distinguish general drama (which, honestly, can reach soap opera levels for some of these ROs) from actual angst. And I’ll try to focus on angst that is exclusive(?) / emphasized in a romantic relationship with them vs. a platonic one.
Akil: 7-8? (Earlier Stages), 4-5 (Later Stages)
Starts relatively high, petters out quite a bit after a major plot point (and progressive recovery from his grief). He’s still a little existential about everything (romance-related and otherwise) through to the end, haha!
Kamiko: 5-6
Kamiko’s prejudice, fears, and bad habits are more painful to her (and thus emphasized) in a romance. Her struggle to communicate emotions that might make her seem pitiable, weak, or wrong for how she feels can cause more angst as well.
Sigmund: 6-7?
General angst that all the HAWKS routes have (that being the illicit nature of romances) which he is especially fraught about (in his own way). The man can sometimes seem addicted to some self-imposed angst, haha! Also, ex-fiancée shenanigans.
Imka: 2-4
Relatively low, more so internalized within herself. The angst in her romance is more sad and anxious than dreadful and painful. It sharply spikes whenever her parents are around, especially when her mother involves herself.
Elouan: 6-7?
Elouan has a lot of fears, scars, and doubt when it comes to a heartfelt romance, especially when it involves someone he cares for in a way he hasn’t cared for anyone before. The shadow of his former fiancé looms over him still as well, and any broaching towards that relationship and its impact on him plunges the romance into a dark pit.
Jae: 3-5?
Even when angst has occasion to arise, Jae doesn’t like to confront it directly. She’ll dance around it for as long as she can until it explodes into something much more harmful than it would’ve been or hurts too much to bear any longer. There’s a lot of fear when it comes to commitment and dependence that wrings out some angst when explored.
Niccolò: 2-3 (Earlier Stages), 7-8 (Middle Stages), 2-3 (Later Stages)
Starts low, inches upwards with some existential quandaries. It soars immensely after an event that involves Fyodor, and it will take a long period of time before the angst in the romance will fully settle down after that. Still, Niccolò is Niccolò, so he’ll try to be positive through it all once he has some of his bearings again.
Mutya: 2-4?
Pretty low to standard levels of angst. Mutya likes to be self-sufficient, meaning she’s more in favor of working out things internally or independently, so an angst-prone situation will be less intensified by her desire to internalize the issue or work it through on her own first. Tension is much more likely than angst, but the two can blend together.
Fyodor: 3-5 (Earlier Stages), 7-9 (Later Stages)???
Eh, it’s muddled for me. The romance starts off as ‘conscripted’ enemies, but Fyodor doesn’t consistently treat Mockingbird like the enemy they are when he can avoid it. It’s the later stages where I’d say the angst really kicks in as, by then, Fyodor will be much more truthful and direct about his past and how it has scarred his perception of love. I use truthful in the sense that he will disclose things in a way where he’s no longer reiterating the comforting lies he tells himself about all that occurred before his time in the CARDINALS. He’s been broken down, and he’s desperate to be ‘fixed’. This mentality bleeds into the romance in a way that manifests as angst.
Dearil: 8-10
Dearil does not love anything or anyone in the traditional sense of the word. He is obsessive, dangerous, spiteful, and cruel. He cannot let things go, including the memory of and grief over his first love who he will always and inevitably compare Mockingbird to with or without intention. He considers himself ruined beyond repair and, by extension, sees his love as something that will inevitably ruin all those around him.
Curadora: 8 (Early Stages), 10 (Middle Stages), ??? (Late Stages)
The undisclosed major plot point can be cause for a lot of angst, though that might be dependent on the MC (especially if they have a main romance with someone else). The late stages, I think, can be pretty subjective on angst levels person by person. I’d guess they’d be pretty low at that point, with vibes more melancholic than angsty.
Retriever: 5-7?
It depends on whether Mockingbird expressed a desire for marriage and children in their future (even if not specifically with him, but rather just in general). A more ‘casual’ romance with Retriever (not exactly ‘end-game’ in his head) is far less angst-filled since he’s more invested in a good time with good company. A more ‘serious’ romance with Retriever (again, in his mind) is a lot more conflicted with his hesitation over loyalties, right vs. wrong, and the resurgence of an old flame.
Lempo: 2 (General), sparser bouts of a 6(?)
Lempo desires mutual pleasure and happiness with Mockingbird. Generally angst-prone topics in her romance will likely go in one ear and out the other, dismissed or laughed down as she ignores the reality around her. Much of her angst is likely to be coupled with whoever Mockingbird’s RO might be. And her life plans towards the end of everything, maybe, depending on the MC.
Bones: 10
I am far more comfortable rating Elov’s romance as high up there compared to the others, haha! He is quite literally (painfully) contemplating the possibility of killing Mockingbird one day for the sake of his ideals, and any romance with that sort of confused animosity is doomed to a heavy dose of angst.
Mishka: 8-10
Mishka is only available to Fyodor romancers, so they’re defaulted into a toned-down ‘love triangle’ (?) from the start. Maybe a “love line” might be fitting for those who are purely loyal to Fyodor, making Mishka’s affections unreturned (even if only on the surface) so it’s like Mishka -> MC <—> Fyodor, haha! (Again, it’s optional for Mishka to be attracted to the MC, though it’s a choice only available to those romancing Fyodor.)
They’re also a doomed romance, but that truth might be more brushed under the rug or skirted around when Mishka has a romantic investment in Mockingbird (for reasons both selfish and hopeful).

Hello! about your malevolent ask
[long ass answer- many apologies]
its a slightly goofy, sort of horror soap opera, in the vein of call of cthulu/tma. I dont find it Super Scary, but idk what your milage for horror is.
The overarching plot is drivin by the patrions (sp sorry), in the style of a choose your own adventure novel- you can usually tell where the choices are; it'll be something like 'omg arthur, we're at a crossroads- do we go left, to the evil cavern (where the horrors live) or right, to the evil woods (more horrors).' You can also hear more overt RPG stylings in the beginning- dice roll sounds for perception checks, etc. These do fade out after the first season.
Rough outline (some spoilers): John (a spirit/demon type guy) possesses Arthur (a detective from Arkham MA) and, in doing so, takes over his eyes. Now Arthur must navigate the world with only the guidance of the voice in his head. Horrors unfold, walls are walked into the boys are in their get-along consciousness. Think venom, if both of them were way bitchier and prone to swearing. and also eddy was blind.
IS IT GAY: Yes and no. If its a friendship, its really intense- but cannonicaly it has been very firmly stated that they are just friends. However, the relationship is intertwined and deep enough that many people consider it to be queerplatonic- Arthur being aromantic is a very popular interpretation, if that sweetens the pot for you (idk how loosely you're using gay here). Glib answer: its pretty queer, but no kissing.
COOL STUFF:
-A dramatic, intense relationship between a guy and the dude who lives in his head. They argue ( my god how they argue) they make up, they argue again.
-The saddest little english man (arthur) gets chucked off cliffs multiple times. Do you like men whimpering? This is the podcast for you!
-Very impressive voice acting: the writer voices absolutely everyone in the podcast (yes. everyone) and its genuinely almost unnoticeable. You really do have to have it pointed out to you.
-Fun, slightly campy (in the way of an rpg campaign) Lovecraft style horror
-Lovely piano soundtrack
-A gentleman called the butcher shows up in- what season 3? maybe?- and I adore him. Go singing irishman go. You get that violent homoeroticism.
Drawbacks:
Again, I don't really know your taste, but these are some of the things that might turn someone off from listening. YMMV etc.
-LOUD. If you dont like gentlemen yelling DIRECTLY AND ANGRILY INTO THE MIC then this is not for you. If you do like that, then you are about the have the time of your life. There is also just. An incredible amount of panting/heavy breathing. Also directly into the mic, and at length. Like, an 'i am secretly watching gay pornography' amount. I had it going on a speaker once and my roommate had questions, kind of amount
-Almost no women characters: understandable, since a dude is voicing Literally Everyone- but it is something of a sausage fest. Women exist in universe, they just tend to move in the backround/be unvoiced. Lots of 'oh heres whats happened to her' sort of describing around the 'I can't voice a woman' issue. One old lady has a few voice lines and thats it.
-Kind of a soap: This is a draw for me ngl, but if you are looking for TMA 2: the magnusing- she isn't it. Its a LOT lighter than tma, writing wise, and isnt exactly hitting any crazy new twists in its plot (if you've read Any lovecraftian stuff you probably wont be super surprised by anything)BUT. Its still very fun. Two dudes sharing a body, detective roadship shenanigans. They might kiss! Might see some skinned bodies or something.
The dynamics can be a lil repetative (wake up break up back together) and the plot can be a little- ehhhh. due to it being yk, patrion controlled- but that can be fun- it's pretty heavily a choose your own adventure story at heart, so if your down with that (and the sillyness that comes with it) then you'll like it.
-Gore: pretty gory. I enjoy that sort of thing/ am not really effected by it BUT if that not your cup of tea, then you might wanna skedaddle.
🤠 thats all. Again, apologies for the very long answer.
First off- don’t apologize! This gave me everything I needed- thank you for the detailed answer to my question! Looks like I’m giving this podcast a listen- everyone wish me luck 😭

If you would please give us divine intervention au plot!!
i ABSOLUTELY will thank you SO MUCH for asking (not sarcasm). sorry in advance but i have been unable to think about literally anything else for three days. i cannot stop rotating these two in my head. long post so buckle up
As for Elesa and Emmet, they were kind of just dragging along and keeping each other afloat for a few years. Emmet was running himself ragged keeping both the singles and doubles lines running, because if he stopped moving he knew he wouldn’t be able to start up again. Elesa was taking on extra work and occasionally running the multi line with Emmet. If she’s not working, she’s thinking, and if she’s thinking, she’s spiraling - so she keeps working. They were mostly both just trying to keep busy while holding out hope that the cops would find Ingo. Both of them refuse to grieve for someone that isn’t dead. At some point around the eight-ish month mark Elesa just sort of. stopped going home and informally move into the twins' house. She starts to hate quiet (the kind that comes with being alone, at least). She stays on the couch. (i see the trio as more of a sibling dynamic btw so that’s what everything should be read as)
The day the officials closed Ingo’s case and declared him dead (which went much longer than usual - around 4 years - just because of how high profile the case was), Elesa came home to Emmet working on research on multiple possible leads at once and didn’t think twice before taking some off of his hands. Emmet is the one who realizes (two days into their bender) that they should call out of work. It’s the first time either of them have used extended vacation time. Also, it’s worth noting that Emmet has not gone nearly as batshit as like, common fanon (which I wholeheartedly support btw i DO think he should be allowed to make his way to heaven through violence to fight god) because Elesa is right there with him from the start. He’s living with another human who has ALSO been steadily reaching the end of her rope at the same time as him. So, like, they’re socialized. More or less.
So basically, Zekrom tunes in to these two humans running entirely on ideals, spite, and coffee and decides this is absolutely a storyline it wants to follow. It's like a shitty soap opera you start watching simply because it's on, but then twenty hours later of straight consumption later you've become irreversibly attached to these characters and fully immersed in their drama. It has a selfless reason for everything it does, including (especially) the more selfish-appearing acts, such as annoying Emmet or purposefully withholding information, since despite its more chaotic nature, it DOES wish to see these two succeed in finding their brother. Especially after it starts to actually like them.
I’m thinking Zekrom is just kinda vibing for a couple weeks, keeping the two on track while also subtly slowing them down. It tries to kick Elesa off the couch and she wins THAT fight by a landslide, to which Zekrom pretty much just goes “okay you’re my trainer now. now find me somewhere to sleep.” Then when the lake trio show up in Unova, Zekrom puts Emmet and Elesa on their trail. It can’t like, straight up tell them where Ingo is (because it doesn’t know) or send them back in time (because that isn’t within its power and also it doesn’t know), but it CAN be a homie. A bro. It’s got connections.
Shenanigans ensue. At some point, they stop thinking of themselves as “Emmet and Elesa” and they become “Emmet and Elesa and Zekrom”, just in time for Bad Things to happen :)
This isn’t actually like, a plot thing, but I like to imagine that Reshiram feels Zekrom disappear from the timeline and goes, “oh you have GOT to be fucking kidding me.”
Which reminds me; clarification, just because I know what the expectation is: Reshiram isn’t involved in this. I see Zekrom as the more social of the two, so it has no problem hopping on board another human’s train so soon, but Reshiram got woken up and then immediately had to work with some kid to keep some OTHER kid from using Zekrom to end the world. It’s on good terms with the champion, but it has no interest in interacting with any humans for the next century, except for like, Sunday afternoon tea with the champion. So, no, Emmet doesn’t get Reshiram. Elesa grabs the Zekrom aesthetic as soon as humanely possible (she needs a new outfit for travel anyway), and if need be, they say it’s her pokemon, but it’s more the third member of their little group rather than one of the humans’ pokemon. The pokeball is just for convenience’s sake, and the moment Zekrom wants to leave it, it will. So think of it more like “creatures of various levels of deification keep moving into Emmet’s house and NONE of them are asking him first” rather than “Elesa gets one of the legendary dragons and Emmet gets jack shit”
Fuck this got long lmao. Anyway, they’ll find Ingo, and it’ll have a happy ending. Eventually.

To the Dragon Ball Super Haters
So I still to this day see people making the same complaints about Dragon Ball Super, so let me just say this: I don't believe you can dislike Super for the vast majority of complaints made about it and still enjoy DBZ. Allow me to elaborate.
Most criticisms of Super, like inconsistent animation, or power of friendship shenanigans, or half-cooked plot, or powerups that have very little buildup, or hell, even powerups that really only change the user's hair color... are all present in DBZ. I think most people don't want to argue that DBZ doesn't deserve its legendary status because you'd be fighting alone against a horde. But it's much easier to proclaim your hatred of something new and cite a decline in quality.
These people either A) don't like DBZ either and therefore shouldn't be so entrenched in the franchise, B) don't dislike Super for the reasons they give but want to sound like they have good taste, or just dislike it for stupid reasons, or C) were tricked by people who come from points A or B into believing things are worse than they are, because they have the media literacy of a toddler.
It's like this. Say you run into someone while you're talking about how much you love Reese's Cups. And they tell you Reese's are a garbage treat and you're an idiot for liking it. And you get upset, obviously. And eventually you go "okay, explain it to me. Why do you hate them?" And they tell you that peanut butter is objectively terrible. Which, first off, it's not, that's your extremely subjective opinion. But second, didn't I see you eating a PB&J sandwich in the break room earlier? And they're like "yeah, PB&J is delicious, it's the best sandwich ever, nobody's disputing that." And you're just like... it has peanut butter though. And they're like "okay but you're taking it out of context." WHAT CONTEXT, BRO!? Either you think peanut butter is nasty or you don't! So you're either lying about hating Reese's to sound edgy and cool, or you're lying about loving PB&J because you don't want to be ostracized for being a freak.
That's basically what it boils down to. If you don't like Super, I'm not saying you're not valid. But be real. You probably don't like it because you were a kid when DBZ came out and your tastes have changed since then. I'm not going to sit here and act like Super isn't flawed, but let's not pretend that those same flaws didn't exist in Z, either. And don't give me that "Goku should be heroic" shit either, that was something the American dubbing crew did on their own. The same dub where Goku and Chichi had a weird offscreen kiss sound effect also told us Bardock was a brilliant scientist who invented the fake moon. Goku does heroic things from time to time, but he always does it with a kind of selfish basis of reasoning. He loves his friends, but he'll let Vegeta go to get a better fight later. He'll give Frieza some energy, but one more betrayal of trust and Goku will obliterate him.
You're either down with the main character being a flawed and interesting character and therefore will enjoy the Dragon Ball franchise, or you're not. In which case, stop clogging up the Tumblr tags and YouTube comments with your bitching and complaining. You don't see me infiltrating the Attack on Titan community to talk about how much it sucks. You know why? Because I fucking hate that series and I don't WANT to talk about it all the time. So if you watched some essayist trying to recreate the Nostalgia Critic or whatever and he told you Super sucks and you just parrot what he said without a sparking synapse in that smooth soap bar of a brain in your skull, then please, just shut the fuck up. For your own sake as well as mine.

History is a set of skills rather than a narrative.
- Hilary Mantel
Growing up I was not a huge fan of the Tudor Age as I was of other historical ages such as the as Ancient Classical world or modern history. I don’t know why that was exactly. Perhaps it was the way history was taught at school. With the Tudor Age it was: divorced, beheaded, died; divorced, beheaded, survived. Those six words, resonanted with almost anyone who went to school in Britain, to become shorthand for the extraordinary story of Henry VIII and his six wives. But I credit Hilary Mantel for pulling me back into that crucial period in Britain’s history to what it is today. As much as the curmudgeonly Cambridge historian, David Starkey, was annoyed by historicital value of Hilary Mantel’s writings (claims made by her fans not her), it was she who led me to his historical works. And I love David Starkey.
Tumblr media
The story of Henry VIII and his six wives is one of the most potent historical brands in our collective consciousness, but its combination of outrageous drama with intense familiarity means it can morph all too easily into soap opera.
It almost felt there was nothing new to say about the period. And, for a long time, there wasn’t. Then, in 2009, Hilary Mantel published Wolf Hall, the first volume of a trilogy set in the 1500s. But instead of treading well-worn ground – Henry VIII’s shenanigans and the sad yet ultimately one-dimensional stories of his six spouses – Mantel offered something new: an intricate look at the extraordinary rise of Thomas Cromwell, from boy soldier to one of Henry’s most trusted advisors.
Hilary Mantel had this ability to get deep within the minds of her subjects, capturing the essence of a voice in a way that somehow profoundly intertwined a character with you as you read. And really, she wasn’t writing about royalty in the way that other historical fiction authors had in the past: she was writing about the people behind the figureheads, the power struggles, the calculations of history, grief, love, anger, revenge – all themes that resonate throughout the ages. She wrote with feeling, but also with a precision, clarity, and wit that was unparalleled.
Tumblr media
It’s worth recalling that, before Mantel, Thomas Cromwell barely inhabited the public imagination: if recognised at all, he was often conflated with his distant descendant Oliver Cromwell. Today, he has supplanted in our imagination that “man for all seasons” Thomas More, in whose conviction and execution for treason Cromwell himself played a key role.
Mantel said that, before she wrote Wolf Hall, Thomas Cromwell was “under-imagined”. She’s entirely right but, strangely, I think the same has also been true of the period’s marquee names. Because we know in advance exactly how the plot will unfold, we tend to overlook its strangeness, its horror, its unpredictability, its astonishing complexity. Hilary Mantel changed all that.
Readers and critics alike found Mantel’s approach an original and welcome addition to Tudor fiction, as it offered something genuinely different and unfamiliar. Historian Thomas Penn, author of Winter King: The Dawn of Tudor England, says that while ‘the Tudors have always been box-office… Hilary Mantel’s novels have allowed people to imagine them in a new light’.
Mantel had a lyrical sense of the irreducible strangeness of the world, with its vivid moments of beauty and threat, but this was never removed from her understanding of the moral imperatives of our shared responsibilities. She was never a neutral observer of the ebb and flow of history.
Tumblr media
It is striking that in the many well deserved obituaries of Hilary Mantel they all pay tribute to her ability to transport the reader to another time, but they often fail to appreciate that Mantel never treated history as a set. Rather, the past in her novels is alive, a place with real implications for the present. What I mean to say is that Mantel approached her subjects not only as a novelist, but also as a historian - demanding of the past not merely scenery but also meaning, an argument, something that might help us explain who we are today.
The trilogy composed of Wolf Hall (2009), Bring Up the Bodies (2012), and The Mirror and the Light (2020) concerns Thomas Cromwell, Henry VIII’s chief advisor from the early 1530s until his execution in 1540. He was also the great-great-granduncle of Oliver Cromwell. For a long time, historians thought of Cromwell as a goon, Henry’s henchman who battered down the doors of English monasteries and engineered executions of the king’s enemies (until he himself fell beneath the axe).
But in later works of history, especially those by the doyenne of Tudor period history, the historian Sir Geoffrey Elton, Thomas Cromwell came to be seen as a more sophisticated operator, someone who fundamentally rethought the English monarchy and, in a certain sense, invented the modern state with all its peculiarities. When Henry wanted a divorce from his first wife, the Spanish princess Catherine of Aragon, his chief minister Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, at the time Cromwell’s patron, could not provide it. Cromwell could. Working through parliament, he severed England’s ties to the Vatican and, a firm proponent of the Reformation, set about creating a Protestant Church of England under the monarch. In so doing he affirmed royal supremacy in government while building new bureaucracies to oversee the Church and the revenues it brought to state coffers. Here, goes the argument, are the origins of our modern state, in Henry’s need for an heir and Cromwell’s desire to reform the Church.
Tumblr media
This is the argument of Mantel’s trilogy, too. Following the course of Cromwell’s life, she gives us a shoulder perch to his rise from blacksmith’s son to European mercenary to lawyer to member of the privy council to, briefly, Earl of Essex. He’s a commoner, though, which the lords and ladies of court never once let him forget. His use to the king must be distinctive, then: his command of numbers, his talent for getting people to do what Henry wants. And, yes, his willingness to plunder the riches of the Church - its fattened abbeys and monasteries - to keep the state solvent.
Sinister is one word for Cromwell. Mantel doesn’t deny it. While he needs the Boleyns to force the break with Rome, he is happy to later take revenge against them for their role in Wolsey’s downfall. Of Anne, he thinks to himself, “If need be, I can separate you from history.” With an equal coolness, he soon separates her from her head. There’s something positively Hegelian about Cromwell’s perspective. Indeed, the philosopher once wrote of how great men of history “fall off like empty hulls from the kernel” after “their objective is attained.”
But Mantel is not Hegel. It doesn’t do justice to her empathy. It’s not only that she is arguing that the modern state emerged from the Tudor court, it is also that it emerged from the very particular constellation of individuals and their peculiar desires. It’s one thing to say Cromwell invented the modern state by codifying England’s territorial sovereignty, rationalising government through bureaucracy, and elevating parliament’s legislative role. It’s another to understand his grief at Wolsey’s demise, to comprehend his rage against the Boleyns, to feel his anxiety that if he cannot satisfy Henry’s whims, he may be next on the scaffold. Mantel has a deep sense of the past, the ability “to feel history through your skin,” as she once put it.
Tumblr media
Thus, we care about Thomas Cromwell and what happens to him not only because Mantel portrays him in such vivid detail, but also because we sense the world-historical purpose he drags behind him. We sense that there is a reason to his actions that continue to shape the world we inhabit today. And after decades of neoliberal reforms that have lopped off the wings of the state, we have need today for figures like Thomas Cromwell who perceived in the state its vast human potential.
This is what the best historians do. It’s a way of thinking about the past that Walter Benjamin described, while on the run from the Nazis, in ‘Theses on the Philosophy of History’ (1940). Today, some still consider history to be nothing more than the dry recitation of facts - “telling the sequence of events like the beads of a rosary,” in his withering formulation. Benjamin instead advocated for a kind of historical writing that would “blast open the continuum of history,” one that would put the present in “constellation” with earlier eras in the knowledge that “even the dead will not be safe.” It’s writing history with fire. I can agree with the spirit if not quite the practice. But so often those who try it do it with clumsily and with ideological baggage. Mantel painted her prose with a light brush.
Tumblr media
Hilary Mantel’s genius was that she knew instinctively where a historian couldn’t go, and consequently where she, as a novelist, could. This is just one of the reasons why she was able to summon up a fully realised world, and why the Wolf Hall trilogy is one of the great fictional achievements of our modern age.

I made it a challenge to myself to watch all the teen dramas, and I think I have finally watched them all (at least the classics). Since I have finished all the teen soaps, I think I shall rate them with my bias opinions (this is 2010s and later only)....
#1: Teen Wolf. I debated adding the supernatural ones to this list, but alas I had to. This show is #1 because it embodied everything teen drama with actually good acting, an iconic villain (Void!Stiles) and a ship I would die for (Stydia). this show had everything the teen dramas were hoping for, there is an actually lovable main character, an even more loved best friend, and an epic story of romance and saving the world every day while still in highscool. what more could you ask for?
#2: since supernatural teen soaps are in this, Buffy the Vampire Slayer will always have my heart. This show went beyond teen angst and became a much deeper, emotional show as it matured with the audience, but it will forever be a classic and would make #1 if it weren't for the whole deeply moving and painful season where Buffy grappled with wanting to be dead and trying not to hate her friends from tearing her away from heaven.
#3: Gossip Girl. This show had everything a teen drama could ask for. Rich people, more rich people who just acted like they were poor but they lived in a giant apartment in Brooklyn, love triangles, back and forth will they or won't they, and the best mystery of the 2000s: who is GG??? the best part about this show was I loved to hate every character on this show, and it made me even more invested every episode.
#4: The OC. This might come to a shocker to most, but this show (though was a little too serious sometimes) was the only teen drama I watched where they had almost as much humor as they did angst. Summer and Seth were the soul of this show, truthfully, and it was the only teen angst show that had me loving every character by the end. It embodied the essence of highschool teen drama shenanigans like any TV show would attempt and misrepresent and I forever will love it for it.
#5: The Vampire Diaries. This show gets #5 for iconic stats only, if I'm honest. However there's something about tvd that makes me want to rewatch just about every new month. With the most iconic couple, Damon and Elena as a plus, theres still the epically annoying love triangles, it's poor acting, and the never ending amount of necks these vampies snapped. this show will always baffle me for its pull on ppl (me included) with some of the most annoying main characters to exist leading most the show. The entire TVD franchise is attached to this, because I refuse to add any of the other spins offs in this list.
#6: One Tree Hill. This show, if being rated for this soap opera plots alone, would've been #1 on this list. One Tree Hill was the embodiment of pointless fighting, ridiculous plots, and epic love triangles. Nothing beats how this show idolized basketball, and how it demonized a dad that never had any real reason to be such a horrible dad. like seriously, why did he hate Lucas sm??? it was never really ever explained. For me personally, this show made #6 merely because I'm a girl who loves a good ship, and there was never a ship I was ever truly invested in for this show. Naley was lovely, but I never could get too invested in any of these characters. They were always very 2 dimensional and had very little growth (aside from Nathan and Brooke, obviously).
#7: Veronica Mars. This show honestly belongs up there with BTVS with its witty dialougue, interesting and dramatic myteries, love to hate characters, and the epic love story that is LoVe. however it gets knocked down to 7th place due to its lack of an ending and then the creator's absolutely ruining the entire show by giving us one more season with the worst ending to exist (and I've seen HIMYMs ending).
#8: Dawson's Creek. This show is a mix of hate and love for me, though it does hold a special place in my heart. It belongs higher up the list for its wordy dialogue, perpetual declarations of love and the meaning of life, and its never ending love triangle. I loved Pacey, Joey, Jen, and Jack very dearly in this show. They all were precious characters who all grew up tremendously (especially Jen and Pacey). and of course, Pacey and Joey's love story might just be one of the best ones in all of teen dramas. however, it gets demoted down to the lonely number 8 because I simply just did not like Dawson. Sadly, it being called Dawson's Creek, he was quite a regular in the show, too. even plots usually circulated around him most episodes. He was self righteous, selfish, narcissistic, a manipulator, and truly he never changed until the final episodes. I always thought I hated Elena in tvd, but at least with Elena she meant good. Dawson wanted nothing but his way, and most of his actions (like his hate for Pacey) were purely because he was a whiny baby that hated that he didn't get what he wanted. I mean, Pacey and Joey were literally fighting about telling him - on their way to tell him in that very moment. Joey was the one who didn't want to tell Dawson the most - and yet Dawson spent the rest of the show (until the final episodes) hating his best friend for simply loving someone Dawson decided he had dibs on. Joey and Pacey were the only thing that kept me watching, since Jack and Jens plots were few and far between the longer the show went on.
#9: This placement really is just for all the other teen dramas I left out, especially for the shows that were an odd mix of drama and comedy, or never really had any opportunity to fall into any of the classic teen drama trends. some honorable mentions would be Freaks and Geeks, Gilmore Girls, Degrassi (I just refuse to watch Degrassi, tbh), Charmed, and 90210.
#10: and last and most certianly least, Pretty Little Liars. I hated this show, and truthfully never finished the last seasons. I just skipped and watched the finale because I became so irritated with every aspect of this entire series. However, it's start was good, and I will always remember the thrill of watching the first season and trying to peice together just who A really was.

It's that time of year again! Time for my list of potential nano plots that I may or may not choose and might decide against at the last minute, but I like listing anyways.
Option 1: Maud Grey's Halfway Home for Failed Magicians (Rewrite)
Basic plot: A wizard in a fantasy world attempts to create a portal to another world, however he apparently fails and wakes up in a remote, isolated Home where magicians supposedly recover from the damage done by their failed workings. There he realizes he has actually developed a psychic link with a high school student in another world. Meanwhile, all is not well in the Home, and the mysteries keep piling up. Ales and Violet must work together to open a real portal before their mistakes and the mistakes of those who came before catch up with them
Pros: this would be a rewrite of my 2020 nano, so I have somewhat of a plot to work off of. Also have a lot of great worldbuilding ideas for this fantasy world that were not in the original so those will be fun
Cons: I tried rereading my 2020 nano a couple days ago and y'all....it is rough. ROUGH. i tried this stupid 3rd person omnicient point of view that SUCKS, and also gave my teen MC my personal anxiety struggles from when I was 16 and...dropped them a couple thousand words in when I realized that I could not possibly motivate her to do anything in that state. There's a reason I was a basement dwelling weeb teenager. I can fix all that in a rewrite but the cringe is just. lowkey killing me OTL.
Option 2: The One Set in the 50s
Basic plot: a young theoretical physicist and his new wife sign on to work at a privately-funded experimental facility in the middle of nowhere. While he works in the lab, she will be working too--for the entire community is a social experiment of uncertain purpose.
Pros: Brand new! Both in terms of not having been done before as a nano and being a new genre and character archetypes for me. I think this could be very creatively beneficial and fun!
Cons: Since it's new, it'll probably be Difficult to either plot or figure out the characters/setting etc, and I struggle with Difficult writing things nowadays (see: last year's nano that I gave up on like 10k words into).
Option 3: Bright Eyes (Rewrite 1.5)
Basic plot: this was my nano from 2018. A bunch of young adults in a college town in the mountains are blackmailed by the local faeries into solving a bunch of murders. There's monsterfucking. Alien conspiracies. Queer drama. Sheltered, closeted, and isolated teens figuring out adult life. Someone's weird cousin who's just there. You know the guy.
Pros: a rewrite, so easier because again: most of a plot is already formed. Lots of characters and situations I enjoy.
Cons: tried to rewrite this one already (and then somehow lost that draft??), and I suspect it doesn't need a full rewrite so much as a boatload of editing, which doesn't make it great nano material
Option 4: Medieval!AU Fanfic of My Own Damn OCs (copout)
Basic plot: okay so, these characters are all ripped from another story that will Never see the light of day (it's one of those Daydream Tales that simply cannot be written on paper), I just chucked them in a castle to see what would happen. Prince Terrance is arranged to marry the daughter of the most powerful wizard in the kingdom, but when she arrives it becomes clear that the wizard has bigger plans than being a royal-adjacent parent-in-law. Shenanigans ensue.
Pros: this would be just for the lulz without any pressure or expectation that anyone would ever have to see it. could literally sit down every day and smash random words into a doc like this is a medieval soap opera, no pressure.
Cons: once again I worry that I might run out of plot. As with any story with a romance, I think the ~main couple~ would get together pretty fast bc I'm just not interested in writing slow-burn pining and whining (read? yes. write? kill me.) and then....what? 40k more words to fill with wizardly evil plots. Hm.

Have you ever mentioned another muse in a thread despite them not being in the thread?
Guilty As Charged- MUN EDITION
👽// My own muses? Yes. ALL the time. It’s inevitable that Doc and Ophelia will bring each other up in threads, either in dialogue or part of the narration! Their stories are so deeply interconnected, that it… lowkey makes it impossible to ONLY and SOLELY interact with one of them.
Sure, they have their own threads without the other being around— but depending on what certain dynamics someone might want to write with me, it’s inevitable if not required for the other muse to deal with the other, sooner or later.
Unless of course, that’s a plot point— some sort of cat and mouse sitcom soap opera shenanigans, THAT’S FUN!! (i’ve talked to another mun about this possible scenario and we’ll see how things play out once we start writing all the involved muses together more, but excited to see how it unfolds :3c)
Even then though, that example still has both Ophelia & Doc involved! <- I don’t tend to do that great when someone is only interested in only one of these two in the long run. They’re a package deal your honor.

StrangeSpot, Round Fifteen: Beaker (Uni)
The twins meet a new dormie, Maria Casilda. She politely enquires about Strangetown and the science/supernatural shenanigans that happen there.
Atom is still crushing on Cyclotron and he’s confused by their kiss. Does Nervous know? What’s next between them? Did Cy just see it as a logical possibility to explore or is there something more real going on?
Unfortunately, that soap opera plot thread is severed when Atom crumbles to dust in the sun, minutes before his very last exam. The doorbell kept waking him up in the night (Ceres gets many admirers at all hours since she wished for beauty) and he got stuck outside in the day, and I sent him to the mood-improving-machine-thing in a last ditch effort to save his mood, as he was refusing to go the final exam... he might have preferred to flunk the last semester over melting... sorry Atom, RIP :( Apologies to Ceres too, who had to arrive home to a tragic pile of dust, then graduate and move home without her twin.

Cal’syee’s living an episode of Shameless, Xandra’s living her TNG dreams, Vulcan’s on the set of HBO’s Rome, gloating about historical accuracy while still workshopping a quip about the world’s smallest violin.
First I was just squee about the new Summers baby, because I’m a sucker like that. The Krakoa era is a goldmine for wish list character interactions, everything and the kitchen sink. Soap opera and spectacle. Another stitch in a dangling plot thread, from I think 2013?
Ewing, you mad genius. Im obsessed with this page. Infinite room of parallels. I could write a 30,000 words easy.
“Safe from us, Gabriel.” Guffawed at Deathbird’s self-awareness. And the imagine of Gabriel suing for monthly monitored visitation as a matter of asshole principle and getting exactly what he wanted, cut away gag from an action shot, someone yelling where Scott is, cue panel of him halfway across the galaxy in dad mode.
But then you think about it. Vulcan was never a baby, he got ripped out of his mother by his future BiL and tossed in an age accelerator, it’s why he’s so messed up. All of which he blames his father for. For being too weak. His own kid was born after War of Kings, Cal’syee was imprisoned and experimented on by space evolutionaries, because the kid had “unique genes,” (still need to read that New Mutants run, and Xandra’s debut in Mr and Mrs X). Both happy parents are the Cains to their siblings Abels. Cal’syee was exiled for matricide and sororicide, Gabriel roasted Corsair AND D’ken, Corsair got better, The third parent more or less, symbolically and thematically. “Mr. Summers was my father/I… am Emperor Vulcan.”
Kudos to the X-Books forum for guessing the kid is actually a girl, Gibby’s “my son” versus Cal’syee’s “our child…” I thought Mom was diplomatically pointing out Gabriel’s sudden parental entitlement, but Cal’syee being jaded by a lifetime of Shi’ar Succession Shenanigans is funnier.
