What do you think about then bringing Wendy back into the picture?? I always hated that..I loathe it even more after finding out Sutter only brought her back because the actress that played her was struggling for work. Thoughts???
I always knew that Wendy was gonna show up again at some point. Not bringing Wendy back wouldn't have made any sense whether or not Drea had any work-related issues.
Don't get me wrong, it's just that with shows like SOA there's a certain formula that screenwriters need to follow in terms of drama and suspense. Bringing Wendy back represented just that. However, I hated the WAY her "homecoming" was handled. Wendy had potential for one of the best character developlents on this show and even though she really stepped up as a mom and became a decent person, Sutter flushed all that development down the drain by making her fall for Jax again in s7. When I saw them kiss in 7x12 I almost threw up. After what Jax did to her in s5 no woman with dignity and in her right mind would even look at him but Sutter on the other hand, made her sprint back to him as if nothing had happened and it made me wanna throw a fit! Wendy somehow managed to become the most stable person in that family and had potential to come out on top when it came to the best characters on the show and Sutter ruined by his misogyny. Cuz he only sees women like Gemma lmao.
Wendy and Tara's relationship/alliance would've been sooooo good to explore. Rn i'm just mourning all the wasted potential of that show and ugh there's so much of it.

I just finished Sons of Anarchy and the ending of S7 hurt me so much I started re-watching the first season and..... Jax ! What the fuck happened ?!????
I mean, I know, I know. But like, the way that he treated Wendy when she came back to meet Abel right out of rehab and the way he treated her in season 7... How could he become so violent ? It’s almost more shocking than anything he does

Haunted - Juice Ortiz x Reader One Shot
Tumblr media
Inspired by I Miss You, I'm Sorry by Gracie Abrams
A/N: Ok first of all. This takes place after Juice's death in SOA cannon. I am very sorry about this lol. I won't have time to get a chapter of Marked for Carnage out this week but I wanted to get something out. And this is pretty damn sad if I do say so myself. I've been hearing the song I Miss You, I'm Sorry by Gracie Abrams a lot and it just reminds me of Juice so much. So I thought of this. Warnings are below. Please read those and read ahead with caution. I also think I want to write more oneshots when I can and I'm happy to write for other SOA and Mayans characters too, so feel free to request if you would like! As always 18+ only please.
Warnings: death, grief, sadness, suicide, suicide attempts, kissing, proposal, general fluff, angst, sickness, vomiting (if I have missed anything please let me know).
Word Count: 1560 words
You groaned, opening your heavy eyelids, your skin stiff and feeling taught from where your tears had dried. You were laying on your side on the carpeted floor of your bedroom. Taking a few moments, you glanced around the room, your mind quiet for the first time in over 12 hours. And then it hit you. And that gaping chasm where your heart was supposed to be broke open again. Juice was gone. The authorities had paid you a visit last night to let you know that he had been taken from you. Left to bleed out on the floor in gen-pop. Taking any life left in you with him. You remembered laying on your bed last night. Any kind of fight was long gone, having spent most of it screaming and kneeling in your doorway whilst the two officers awkwardly tried to offer any sort of comfort. But no, you would never know comfort again. You had buried your face in Juice's pillow, inhaling his scent, wanting it to suffocate you and take you to wherever he was now. And suddenly it had become overwhelming, the flood of memories tied to this bed.
You laid on your side, Juice wrapped in your arms. Your head was against his back, your arms around his waist. His breathing was shallow, stuttering. He kept raising a hand to his neck, and you knew he was running his fingers over the ligature mark on his neck. The distinct chain pattern, a reminder of his failure that he couldn’t even do this right. Your heart was in your throat as you reached over and grabbed his wrist. "Baby, stop," you pulled his hand over to you, pressing your lips against his knuckles. He swallowed and rolled over to face you. Slowly he pulled his gaze up to meet yours and your heart shattered all over again. Gone was the sweet, silly, innocent man you had fallen in love with. Before you sat a broken, desperate and defeated human. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Are you angry with me?" he asked, his voice low and croaky. You clasped his cheek in your hand, and when he opened his eyes they were glimmering with tears. "I'm angry baby," you admitted. He nodded, and a tear slipped down his cheek onto the pillow. "But not with you," you whispered. His brow furrowed in confusion. "I'm angry that I didn’t see the signs. That I let you get to this point. I wasn't here for you like you needed me to be," your throat felt full, tears beginning to rim your own eyes. "Please don’t leave me baby," you whimpered, pressing your forehead to his. Juice shook his head, rubbing his nose against yours like you had done a thousand times over in your need to be as close to him as possible. "I'm not going anywhere baby. You got me," he grasped your hand and held it over his heart. "Forever."
Groaning you sat up, running a hand over your face. You looked at the clock. It was nearly 11am. Nearing on 24 hours since Juice had left this realm for another. You hadn’t even gotten to say goodbye before he had been arrested. You had managed to visit him a few times while he was staying with Wendy, making your plans to go south together and be free from the club. Start over. But that had all changed after the Mayans had handed him over. Making your way to the kitchen, you felt your stomach growl. The idea of eating made you want to hurl but you knew you should try to keep something down. You filled a glass with water and grabbed some crackers from the pantry. They were old and probably stale as fuck but you figured if you could keep something bland down that wouldn't be a bad thing. You took a bite out of one and turned, resting your back against the sink. Your eyes trailed over to the stovetop, and it was almost like you could feel him with you.
"What is that you're humming, hmm?" you asked, walking up to where Juice stood at the stove, stirring the sauce for the pasta you were having for dinner. You wrapped your arms around his waist, resting your head between his shoulder blades. He began to rock back and forth and continued his humming, making you laugh. "What is into you, today?" you asked. He spun around, cradling your face and planting a kiss on your lips that had your toes curling in your shoes. "I don’t know what's gotten into me," he wiggled his brows. "But I know what will be in you later." You screwed your face up and slapped him on the chest lightly. "Very nice," you rolled your eyes at him, making him laugh. "Seriously," you said. "You're so happy today, what gives?" Juice grasped your waist and began rocking you back and forth again. You drew your arms up to rest around his neck. "I'm just excited for our weekend away," he shrugged, leaning down to press gentle kisses against your neck. "Mmm," you closed your eyes. "No club shit, no work shit," you sighed, smiling contentedly. "Yup," he pulled back, tightening his hold on your hips. "Just you, me. No clothes and room service." You opened your mouth in shock, trying to step out of his hold. "Mr Ortiz, we need to get you neutered!" Juice laughed, pulling you to him. He kissed you again, sending your blood thundering through your body, his tongue pushing into your mouth, the sauce on the stove completely forgotten about. Little did you know that the weekend included you, Juice, no clothes, room service, and the ring he had stored in his underwear drawer.
You looked down at the ring on your finger now. Your stomach rolled and suddenly the one cracker and the glass of water were ready to make an appearance. Sprinting to the bathroom, you only just made it to the toilet before you were on your knees, the small amount of food and liquid coming up, followed by the bitter taste of bile. And all of a sudden the tears were back, unleashed in an unstoppable wave as you heaved and sobbed over the toilet bowl. You didn’t know how long you kneeled there, gripping the toilet seat as the grief suffocated and burned you from the inside out simultaneously. Eventually the churning subsided and you moved to sit against the wall, hiccupping whilst the tears continued to spill. You shut the lid of the toilet, and again, it was like Juice was right in front of you.
You tapped your foot in annoyance when Juice winced yet again, trying to pull away from where you held a cotton ball with antiseptic against the spilt on his eyebrow. "Stay still, you big baby," you chided, tempted to press a little harder against the wound. He huffed impatiently, but obliged, placing his hands on the outsides of your thighs. You stood in front of him whilst he sat on the toilet seat, tending to his wounds. "I was only protecting your honour," he tried to explain, making you huff. "As charming as that may be, Juice. This isn't the medieval times, and I can fight my own battles you know." Juice hummed and pulled your hand away from his brow. Pressing his lips against your wrist, where you knew your pulse was pounding, he looked up to you with wide, innocent eyes. Instantly turning your insides to mush. You gripped his jaw gently, leaning down and pressing a soft kiss against his lips. He sighed faintly, and it took all of your effort to not climb into his lap then and there. Pulling away you grabbed a couple of steri strips from the first aid container, placing them along the cut. He probably needed stitches but this would do the trick until you headed over to St Thomas. "I know you can handle yourself baby, trust me," he ran his hands up your thighs and lightly smacked both sides of your ass, his bottom lip pulled between his teeth. You just rolled your eyes at him. "But I like being your Prince Charming," he smiled, looking up at you again. You smiled down at him, placing both hands on his cheeks. Stepping closer you pulled his face to rest against your chest as you ran your hands over his shoulders and around his neck in an embrace. "I know baby. But no more fights, please?" you asked, stepping back to look down at him again. He just smiled his goofy smile. "No promises, baby."
You gripped the tshirt - his tshirt - that you were wearing in both of your clammy hands, as a guttural scream made its way up your throat. When it had died off into whimpers, you slowly laid down on your side, the cool bathroom tiles almost a shock to your overworked system. "This isn’t how it was supposed to be, baby," you whispered into the silence, your tears finally drying up again. He was everywhere. His entire being, the material of him, every memory, every kiss, every whisper, every promise. Everywhere. And yet he would never be anywhere again. Every corner of your life would be haunted.

CHAPTER ONE
Family Matters
Tumblr media
[ Small Tears ]
"I think it stems from my raging Daddy issues."
~ AVERY CASE to CHIBS TELFORD
AVERY'S OUTFIT
Tumblr media
THE HOSPITAL WAITING ROOM buzzed with the muted sounds of whispered conversations and the occasional beep of medical equipment. Luann Delaney, the matriarch of the porn industry, hovered over one of her girls, Avery Case, her expression a mix of concern and frustration. With a gentle touch, she dabbed at Avery's bloody nose, trying to stem the flow of blood.
"It's gonna be okay," she assured her with a gentle tone. "Just tip your head back a little bit. I don't think it's broken.
"Wait a minute, hang on to that," Luann instructed, passing the tissue to Avery, before her attention shifted to the entrance.
Two figures strode into the room, their presence commanding attention. Jax Teller and Chibs Telford, members of the notorious Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club.
Luann wasted no time addressing the newcomers, her voice tinged with anger, "I told you not to stir things up. Look what that asshole did to her," she admonished, gesturing towards a bruised and battered Avery.
Jax's eyes widened in shock as he rushed to kneel in front of Avery, his heart sinking at the sight of her injuries, "Holy shit, Avery," he breathed, his voice heavy with concern and guilt.
Luann's curiosity piqued as she observed the interaction between Jax and Avery, "Wait, you two know each other?"
Jax nodded solemnly, his gaze never leaving Avery's battered form, "Yeah, she's my ex-wife's baby sister," he confirmed, his tone laced with regret. "This was Caruso?"
Avery confirmed Jax's words with a nod, her voice strained with pain, "Yeah, little prick," she muttered, her eyes locking with his.
Jax's expression softened as he gently brushed Avery's hair out of her face, his heart aching at her words, "Oh, God, darlin', I'm sorry," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "I didn't even know you were still in the game. I thought you were at school up in Nevada."
"The old man's got a crank debt the size of Indiana Hills," Avery explained her predicament, the desperation evident in her voice. "I gotta pay it off or they'll kill him, Jax," she confessed, her words weighted with the burden of responsibility. "I mean, he was a shitty father, but he doesn't deserve to die."
Jax's anger flared at the mention of Avery's father, his fists clenched in frustration. Stanley Case was not a good man, he abused both Avery and Wendy throughout their entire childhood, both mentally and physically. He abused both alcohol and drugs, putting them first before his own family, which usually resulted with him going to prison for short periods of time on and off, or to disappear for months on end, leaving his daughters to fend for themselves.
But Audrey had a heart of gold, which made her very naive at times, always falling back into old patterns. She believed everyone deserved a second chance, so that's what she gave her father time and time again, which got her into some pretty sticky situations. Unlike Wendy, who had cut off their father years ago.
"So, he's resorted to letting his little girl get rear-ended in front of the camera?!" Jax spat, his eyes blazing with fury.
Avery shook her head, "I don't do that shit anymore. I mainly do solo work, with the occasional blow job," she admitted, her words heavy with shame.
Jax's anger continued to simmer beneath the surface as he processed Avery's words, his mind racing with thoughts of retribution, "There's gotta be a better way," he insisted, his voice laced with determination.
"This is the quickest way to pay back Darby," she said with a sigh. If she had a choice she wouldn't be doing this either, but she didn't want to find her father dead in a ditch one day.
Jax's expression softened as he reached out to gently examine Avery's bruised face, his heart breaking at her pain, "Shit, Aves. What did this animal do to you?" he whispered, his voice laced with concern.
"Tell them what Georgie said," Luann interjected, urging Avery to repeat the threatening message from Georgie.
Avery hesitated, before revealing the extent of Georgie's threat, her words a chilling reminder of the dangers that lurked in their world, "He told me to tell Luann that if the little biker boys show up again, he's going to roll the cameras while he jams his dіck up all your asses," she recounted, her voice trembling with fear.
Jax's features hardened as he vowed to take action, his fists clenched in silent fury, "I'm gonna go fuck this guy up. You alright?" he asked, his concern evident as he searched Avery's eyes for reassurance.
Avery nodded, a flicker of determination igniting within her despite the pain, "Yeah, I'll pull through," she affirmed, her voice steady despite the turmoil raging within her.
Jax pressed a tender kiss to Avery's cheek, before rising to his feet, his gaze lingering on her form with a mixture of affection and determination, "I'll catch ya later, darlin'," he promised, his voice a solemn vow as he prepared to face the threat head-on.
Luann's voice cut through the tension, her tone a mix of warning and concern as she addressed Jax, "Jax, don't you do anything!" she admonished, her words a desperate plea for restraint amidst the escalating chaos.
"Who the hell do you think you're talking to?!" Jax roared back, his face full of fury. "He came after my family! Now, it's personal! Get her patched up! Call the rest of your talent, tell them to lock their goddamn doors!" he commanded, his voice echoing with authority.
As Jax and Chibs prepared to leave, Luann's voice echoed with a note of apology as she recoiled, slight fear over taking her features at Jax's outburst.
"Should we call Clay?" Chibs asked, moving in toe with his V.P.
"Nah, I'll handle it. I need you to make sure she gets home. Keep her safe," Jax replied, motioning to Avery, who was now being comforted by Luann once more as the tears of pain and fear started to overwhelm her.
"All right, Jackie boy," with a nod of understanding and a pat on the back, Chibs accepted the responsibility, his gaze unwavering as he watched Jax depart, before heading back over to Avery and Luann.
***
Stepping through the doors to Avery's upstairs apartment, Chibs' eyes scanned the room, taking in the sight before him.
The apartment was dimly lit with flickering fluorescent lights, casting shadows on cracked walls. The air was heavy with the scent of stale cigarettes and mildew. Rusty pipes groaned in protest as water dripped from leaky faucets. Outside, sirens wailed in the distance, punctuating the constant hum of urban decay.
Although, despite the neglect, the apartment displayed a sense of home with mismatched furniture arranged in a cozy layout. A threadbare rug covers the worn linoleum floor, and faded curtains hung from the windows, attempting to soften the harsh sites of the rough streets. Despite the cracks in the walls, framed photos and knick-knacks added a personal touch of Avery.
Tumblr media
"Thanks for dropping me off and walking me to the door, Filip," Avery said as she closed the door behind them, discarding her bag, phone and keys on the kitchen counter.
"Anytime, lass," Chibs said, his Scottish accent filling the air. And Avery wasn't going to lie, she found the sound of his voice very attractive.
While Chibs came to lean on the kitchen counter, his arms folded over his chest, Avery pulled the fridge open, grabbing herself a water, before offering one to Chibs, who waved a dismissive hand, shaking his head.
"But if you don’t mind me asking," Chibs started to say, observing the blonde closely as she came to sit at the dining table cross legged. "You seem like a sweet girl, how do you end up sucking dick for a living?"
Avery choked on a mouth full of water at the abrupt question, placing the bottle of water down in front of her, she let out a sigh, before replying, "I think it stems from my raging daddy issues."
Chibs chuckled, a smirk crossing his face as he shook his head in amusement.
But Avery's expression was dead serious, "I'm not kidding."
All amusement dropped from Chibs’ face at the girl's words.
"I got into the escort business right out of school," Avery started to explain, a hint of sadness etched in her tone. "My mum took off when I was a baby. And my dad was in and out of prison, and when he wasn’t, he was never really around, so it was just me and Wendy. If we didn’t work, we didn't eat, we didn't bath - It kept the lights on. And as time went by I just got deeper and deeper into the industry."
A sympathetic expression crossed Chibs' face as he felt a pang at his heart for the young woman, "I'm sorry," he said softly.
"I'm not," she retorted, shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly at Chibs' surprised expression. "I know where I come from, and I know who I am. Sometimes life deals you a rough hand, and you do what you have to do to make it through. We all have our own deck of cards to play. Isn't that why you wear that kutte?"
A slight smile tugged at the corner of his lips, nodding his head in agreement, "I guess so," he said, striding forward and pulling out a chair, before taking a seat across from Avery.
Avery watched him cautiously with a hint of confusion, "You don't have to stay, you know. I'll be fine," she assured. "Jax is being way too overprotective."
But Chibs didn't even attempt to move as he simply leaned back in his chair, folding his arms over his chest, "I think it's best that I do, they might come back."
"If you insist," she said, making it to her feet. "There's beer in the fridge, help yourself. I'm gonna shower," she declared, starting to remove her clothes right in front of him without a care in the world, before heading into her bathroom.
Chibs’ eyes widened as he watched her go, her bare ass on full display.
But as Avery pushed the door close, a crack remained, so Chibs was able see her through the mirror.
Seconds later, the sound of the shower running filled the air, a steady cascade of water against tile echoing softly through the room. But moments later, Chibs' ears caught onto the distant murmuring sound of a girl moaning. His interest piqued as he leaned slightly closer to the door, still seated on the chair in the dining room and as he turned his gaze to the bathroom mirror once more, he caught sight of exactly what she was doing with that damn shower head.
"Jesus, Mary and Joseph!" Chibs cursed under his breath, running a hand down his face as he readjusted himself in his pants that seemed to have become very tight all of a sudden.
***
The door to the clubhouse closed behind Avery as stepped inside behind her brother-in-law.
Jax's mind raced with plans and possibilities, each thought a puzzle piece in his quest to protect those he cared about. Yet amidst the chaos of his thoughts, one idea shone brightly like a beacon of hope.
Turning to face Avery, Jax's gaze softened with a newfound determination, "Avery, listen to me," he began. "I know things are tough right now, but maybe there's another way of doing things."
Avery's eyes flickered with curiosity, a glimmer of hope stirring within her weary heart, "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice laced with uncertainty.
Jax took a step closer, "I want you to come work for the club," he explained, his words measured yet filled with sincerity. "We could use some extra hands behind the bar at Samcro parties. And Mum can always use a hand with paper work at TM."
Avery's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, her mind struggling to comprehend the offer before her, "But what about my dad's debt?" she questioned, her stress evident in her tone.
Jax's gaze locked with hers, "I'll talk to the guys, see if we can work something out," he promised, his voice filled with determination. "Maybe we can use some of the money earned at parties to help pay off your old man's debt faster."
A flicker of hope danced in Avery's eyes as she considered Jax's offer, the prospect of freedom tantalisingly close, "You'd do that for me?" she whispered, her voice tinged with disbelief.
Jax nodded, his expression filled with unwavering certainty, "You're family, Avery," he affirmed, his words a solemn vow. "And family takes care of each other."
A smile tugged at the corners of Avery's lips as she reached out to grasp Jax's hand, her touch a silent expression of gratitude, "Thank you, Jackie," she murmured, her voice filled with emotion.
With a reassuring squeeze of her hand, Jax offered her a small smile, his heart filled with hope for the girl's future, "I'm gonna get you out of the life, Aves, I promise you that."

AVERY'S OUTFIT
Tumblr media
The dimly lit bar buzzed with the soft murmur of conversation as Chibs settled onto a stool, his weary frame sinking into the familiar embrace of the worn leather. Avery stood behind the bar, her movements fluid as she worked with practiced ease, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips as she caught sight of Chibs.
"What can I get ya?" she asked, her voice warm and inviting as she met his gaze.
"A whiskey neat, darlin'," Chibs replied, his brogue soft yet filled with warmth as he returned her smile.
As Avery served him the drink, Chibs took a sip, the smooth burn of the whiskey warming him from the inside out. Yet as he savored the familiar taste, Avery's words cut through the air like a knife.
"So, did you enjoy the show?" she asked, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
In shock, Chibs spit out his drink, the amber liquid splashing against the bar as he struggled to regain his composure.
Avery couldn't help but giggle at his reaction, her laughter a melodic sound amidst the chaos of the bar, "I could see you watching me earlier," she admitted teasingly.
Chibs cleared his throat, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment as he met Avery's gaze, "I'm sorry, lass, but you didn't exactly close the door."
Avery shrugged, a flicker of amusement dancing in her eyes, "Yeah, I'm so used to people watching me. It doesn't really affect me anymore," she confessed. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. But I guess it was just the adrenaline - I needed a release."
Chibs nodded understandingly, his expression filled with empathy, "No judgment here, lass," he assured her. "You do what you gotta do."
Avery smiled gratefully with a hint of cheekiness to it - Chibs could tell she was going to be a hand full.
"You want another?" she asked, her voice warm and inviting as she gestured towards his empty glass.
"Aye, love one," Chibs replied, his voice filled with gratitude as he handed her the glass.
As Avery took the glass from Chibs' hand, their fingers brushed, sending a jolt of electricity coursing through both of them. For a fleeting moment, their eyes met, a silent understanding passing between them, before they both brushed it off, returning to their roles with practiced ease.
With a small smile, Avery served Chibs his drink, the warmth of their brief connection lingering in the air like a promise of something yet to come.

random mayans thoughts, 5x09 edition:
- Felipe, Angel and Mav were so damn sweet at the beginning. to quote Downer here, what every kid wants is for their dad to tell them they're proud. I'm happy for Angel he finally got that. but I'm beginning to think he might never find out what really happened to Luisa and instead they let him keep thinking she just took off. but who in the writers room did Clayton piss off? first Luisa, now possibly Felipe and EZ next? pops took on the invading Sons like a boss and while I've been expecting him to die for weeks, it'll still be heartbreaking if he did. which we don't know yet. Felipe took out at least 2 Sons, maybe it wasn't him in the bodybag.
- Miguel and Cristobal are just as adorable, I love them so much. now he's making a deal of his own with Devlin, full immunity for any and all information to take down Potter and she accepted. while I'm always for taking that motherfucker down, or out, I'm sure that despite Miguel getting the deal for himself and his wife, his own crimes will come back to bite him in the ass. that lady does not seem like someone who'd let one criminal get away to take down another, she wants them both.
- Emily figured out it was Luis who killed her sister, at last. and now she’s putting cameras all over the place. mama city hall clerk did a number on her telling her there are more people who know what she did.
- the Broken Saints are just moving away after what happened? to where? we don't know who 'mother' is or what they're gonna do with their president, it is her fault after all, and it feels kinda weird and unfinished to let them leave like that. amigo Elio didn't make it out of the fire, this might unleash something very Guero-like in Bottles which would be hella interesting to see. I hope both Guero and Bottles go wild in the finale, since neither of them had enough screentime this week. but after what they witnessed they probably needed a break.
- EZ is flattened with his bike because he swerved for an animal? he got beat up, could barely sit up straight and look out of his eyes but drove home without incident. but swerving on a dry, straight street does it. right. and then Wendy, is that her name?, so happened to drive by. I only know that actress from somewhere else so no SOA connection here. she did say a lot of things that made sense but it's the second to last episode and the time they spent together dragged on for too long. we do not have time for random stuff.
- Isaac needs to kick the bucket, I'm sick of this motherfucker. and these other 2 Sons definitely know Terry lied. let them all kill each other for all I care.
- same with Potter, he needs to go. I hope that when he does, he's not taking Kody down with him. not her smartest idea to align herself with him.
- not one club house scene this week? is everyone else on vacation?
generally not my favorite episode but the series finale has been confirmed to be two hours long so maybe this will be enough time to bring storylines to a satisfying end. let's wait and find out.

Chapter Six - Repost
warnings: miscarriage, alcohol abuse, angst, public masturbation
"I'm so sorry, Jackson. She lost the baby."
Jax felt his heart fall into the pit of his stomach, as he took a step back from his mother's reach. "She lost," he choked, "she lost the baby?" He questioned in disbelief. This wasn't happening. It couldn't be happening.
Gemma swallowed thickly, nodding her head. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart."
Jax ran a hand across his tired face, trying to qualm his growing emotions. "Where is she? I need to see her."
"She's in there." Clay stepped up and pointed to the room that was directly right behind them.
Jax immediately sidestepped his mother and stepfather and quickly headed toward the room. He was desperate to see Lena.
"Jax," Gemma called out to stop him, "she's resting right now. They gave her a sedative for the pain."
Jax ignored his mother and made his way inside the room. The moment he shut the door behind himself, the image he saw nearly broke his heart. Lena was laying turned away from the door. She was curled into the fetal position, soundly asleep.
Jax swallowed the lump at the back of his throat, just looking at her form. His guilt quickly started eating at him. If he hadn't been dealing with Tara and Kohn, which he for sure thought had left town, then he could have been there for Lena. He was such a fucking idiot.
Releasing a deep breath, Jax cautiously made his way toward his Old Lady. He wasn't sure he should bother her, but he just needed to be near her. He needed to let her know that he was here. When he finally stopped right in front of her, he tried to hold back his own tears at the pained expression on her face; the stains of her tears tracked down her cheeks. He slowly reached out and ran a soothing hand across her cheek, before leaning forward to place a gentle kiss against her forehead.
Lena sucked in a huge breath, nearly waking in a panic. Her eyes immediately began to frantically search around her, before they landed on Jax. The relief that he was here sat in the pit of her now empty belly. "Jax," she barely choked out.
"I'm here, baby." Jax continued to stroke his rough, calloused thumb against the softness of her cheek.
Lena's bottom lip trembled, as she desperately grabbed ahold of his kutte and pulled him further to her. "I'm so sorry, Jax."
Jax shook his head. "Baby, this is not your fault, okay." He whispered, leaning forward to brush a gentle kiss across her lips, before gathering her into his arms.
Lena clutched onto Jax as much as she could, as she released a full body sob into his chest.
Tumblr media
Lena was finally released from the hospital the following morning. Jax was by her side every step of the way, even helping her into Gemma's truck, and following right behind them on his bike.
Lena had barely spoken a word since she had cried herself to sleep in Jax's arms the night before. When the Doctor, who came to release her, asked her how she was feeling, she replied with one simple word: empty.
Upon hearing her say that word caused Jax's heart to break a little more. The guilt for leaving her that night for Tara weighed even heavily in his gut.
When they arrived back at the house, Jax helped lay Lena down into what he was now calling their bed. He could only sadly watch as she curled herself away from him.
Jax swallowed thickly, covering her body with the comforter, before taking a seat behind her. "Hey," he whispered, reaching over to splay his hand against her curvy hip, "you need anything?"
Lena sniffled, wiping a stray tear, and just shook her head: Her only answer.
"Baby," Jax exasperated. He had no idea what to do here. "I want to help you. Please, tell me what I can do to help you."
Things were quiet for a few moments, and Jax thought Lena wasn't going to answer, until she squeaked out, "where were you last night?"
That question immediately caught Jax off guard. He didn't know exactly what to say. If he told her the truth then he would run the risk of her shutting down on him. But he didn't want to lie to her either. So, he just stayed silent.
"So," Lena whispered softly and sniffed again, "I'll take your silence as you were with Tara."
Jax sighed heavily. "She needed my help with Kohn."
Lena was quiet for another few moments, before she choked, "I needed you, Jax. We needed you."
"Jesus Christ." Jax released a shuddering breath, leaning forward on his elbows, and shoving his face in his hands. He literally had no idea what to do for her and wanted to comfort her so badly. He knew he had royally fucked up.
After a few minutes of uncomfortable silence, Jax finally stood his feet. He then leaned over to kiss her temple, relieved when she didn't pull away from him. "I'll be back." He told her, but he didn't receive an answer in return.
Jax pursed his lips and then slowly made his way out of the room only to find his mother, Gemma, patiently waiting in the hallway.
"How is she?" Gemma walked up to her son, seeing the pain in his blue eyes. Her heart broke for the both of them. She knew the pain of losing a child.
Jax released a deep breath, running his fingers through his hair. He quickly glanced back at the room and then back at his mother. "Not good, mom. I want to help her, but I'm not even sure I know how."
Gemma folded her arms together in a comforting manner. "She's gonna be fine, Jackson. She just needs some time to adjust. She just lost a baby. That's a traumatic thing to go through, baby. You need me to stay with her while you meet with the club?"
Jax looked back at the room once again, thinking about it for a second, before he shook his head. "Nah, I think I'm gonna stay here with her. Make sure she eats an' shit, and I kinda don't wanna leave her side tonight. You go home." He reached forward and gave her arms a gentle squeeze.
"You sure?" Gemma questioned, and he nodded. "Okay, sweetheart." She then pulled him into a hug and kissed his cheek. "You call if you need anything."
"I will." Jax told his mother, as he walked her out of his house. Gemma gave him one last hug before he closed and locked the door.
Releasing another breath, Jax looked down the empty foyer in desolation. He slowly removed his kutte, hanging it on the coat rack, and made his way back to his bedroom. As he opened the door, he found her in the same position he had left her in just a few minutes ago, but this time she was asleep. He knew that the pain medication she had been subscribed had already kicked in.
He stood by the frame of his bedroom door, watching as her body rose and fell with each breath she took. After a few minutes, he then proceeded to pull his hoodie over his head, along with his white t-shirt, dropping them onto the floor. He finally toed off his white sneakers and removed his jeans, before finally climbing into the bed next to Lena.
Jax continued to watch Lena for a few moments. He reached out and gently grabbed her hand. She subconsciously turned over and draped her body across his, snuggling closer into his warmth. He then placed a gentle kiss on her forehead and laid her open palm against his bare chest.
Tumblr media
The next morning Lena's eyes fluttered open, and she was graced with the presence of the most beautiful, crystal blue eyes she loved so much.
"Hey," Jax ran a soothing hand across her mountain of curls, "I gotta go take care of some club shit, okay. I'll be back in a little while."
Lena just nodded her head, still not feeling up to speaking.
Jax sighed, kissing her forehead softly. "I made you some tea." He pointed to the steaming cup on the bedside table. "And there's some eggs and toast in the microwave."
This was exactly what Jax did every morning for the next week. He'd make her eggs, toast, and tea, before leaving every morning. The first four days he would come home disappointed to find that the eggs and toast were still in the microwave and the tea was barely touched. He'd also find her still curled in the same fetal position he left her in. By day five, the tea was drank, the toast was eaten, and it looked as if she had made some type of vital effort to shower. She would still be in bed by the time he got home though.
Then yesterday all of it was gone.
Today, after Church, Jax made a quick stop at home to check in on Lena. Much to his shock and surprise, she was finally up and about.
"Hey," Jax said walking into the bedroom to find Lena tying the straps of her boots. "You're up?"
Lena looked up at Jax, giving him a warm smile. This was the first time in days that she had shown him some source of light. "Yeah, I figured it was time to finally stop grieving. It's time to move on. I'm sorry I've been such a recluse."
Jax shook his head dismissively, shoving his hands into the front pockets of his jeans. "Lena," he breathed, "please, don't blame yourself for any of this. Losing the baby wasn't your fault. The doctor said that sometimes it just happens. No reasons why."
"I know." Lena replied desolately. "But I can't help but feel like it is." Jax went to tell her that she didn't need to, but couldn't form the words, when she stood to her feet and approached him. "I just want to thank you for giving me the time that I needed." She stood on the tips of her toes and pressed her lips softly against his and quickly pulled away.
"Where you going?" Jax questioned, watching as she reached for her things.
"Just to stop by my house really quick, grab some more things, then I'm gonna head to the clubhouse. I can't stay in this room like this any longer." Lena told him, moving around the room in a dizzying blur.
And before Jax could protest, Lena had already disappeared from his sight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lena arrived at the clubhouse a short time later. She walked in to see Clay and Piney sitting at the bar with some strange, balding, short guy she had never seen before. Ever since she could remember, the club had always been bringing strange people she had never met around. She knew the deal: to keep smiling and never ask questions, unless spoken to.
"Well, well, well, look who's back on her feet." Clay boastfully announced with a huge grin on his face, as he saw Lena making her way toward them. "What are you doing here?"
Lena approached the MC President, and her Old Man's stepdad, giving him a warm hug and a kiss to the cheek. "I just figured you needed me to get back to work."
Clay shook his head dismissively, hand on her shoulder. "That's nonsense, girl. Take all the time you need. That's what we got the Prospect for." He smiled again.
"No," Lena responded, heading behind the bar to put her things away, "I have to do something. I can't just lay around and wallow anymore. It's not good for me."
"How're you feeling?" Piney question, placing a comforting hand on hers.
Lena looked down at the gesture, a million thoughts running through her mind. After she had the miscarriage, news of her failed pregnancy spread like wildfire through the MC. A pregnancy she wasn't even ready to announce yet. Not that it even mattered anymore. Some of the croweaters, she didn't know about, and even the Nevada charter, were sending in their condolences. She was grateful for their support, but she was also really tired of it. She just wanted to not think of it anymore. Every time she did, that emptiness she now felt would start to suffocate her.
"I'm okay, Piney." Lena swallowed thickly, giving her grandfather's closest friend a warm smile back. She then looked over to the strange man who was sitting there quietly, staring at her breasts in her low cut top, while sipping on his mug of beer. "Hi."
"Hi." The guy nodded a little too skittishly, his eyes leaving her chest.
"Lee, this is Chucky." Clay pointed toward the jumpy man. "Chucky, this is Lena. She's Jax's Old Lady."
Lena reached out to shake Chucky's already outstretched hand when Piney not so subtly placed his hand over hers, stopping her actions. She turned to the old man, giving him a look of confusion, and he just shook his head in warning.
Lena then soon found out why.
Chucky, feeling a bit rejected by Lena, immediately stuck his hand down his khaki pants and started jackhammering on his genitals.
Lena choked back, standing there wide eyed really not believing her eyes. This strange man was actually masturbating in front of all three of them. She then turned to look at Clay and Piney, and they both reassured her that she wasn't going crazy.
"Yeah," Clay began, sounding so done, "he's got that, what do you call it?" He turned to look at Chucky. "Compuls–"
"Compulsive Masturbation Disorder, CMD." Chucky explained, still going to town on himself.
Lena pulled a face of disgust, but still not looking away. It was like watching a car wreck, and Chucky was showing no signs of stopping.
"Alright," Clay boasted, "get your goddamn hands out of your pants, Chucky. There's a lady present."
Chucky stopped, looking over at Lena, who still had yet to look away. "I accept that." He immediately removed his hand from his pants. "Sorry about that." He looked back at Lena, apologetically, "it literally has a mind of its own. Especially now without my meds."
"I guess it's all good." Lena commented, before looking at Piney and Clay once more. "I thought boys got over that after 13." She joked, causing both Piney and Clay to chuckle.
"Hey, sweetheart," Clay turned back to Lena, gesturing between himself, Chucky, and Piney, "could you give us a few? We gotta talk business."
Lena nodded, grabbing both Clay and Chucky's now empty glasses to wash them. "Okay, I guess I'll be in the back doing some inventory."
"Thank you." Clay told her. "Glad to have you back."
Lena gave Clay another warm smile, before retreating into the back kitchen. When she got there, she immediately noticed the mountain of boxes of delivered alcohol piled high, in the corner. These boxes weren't there over a week ago. It was almost like they had been patiently waiting for her. It was always like this though. If she didn't show up for a day or two, things would just go to the wayside, waiting for her to come back. It was almost as if she were running the bar herself.
Lena released a heavy sigh, walking over to the sink and tossing the heavy mugs inside. She wanted to scream. She wanted to cry. But she knew she couldn't. So, she just swallowed all of those feelings down and started her task. At least dealing with this, she didn't have to deal with all the other shit on her mind.
Tumblr media
After finally getting those boxes situated, Lena found herself arranging and cleaning the liquor shelf back out front. She had completed the much needed inventory, and was now tasking herself with doing other things. As, again, if she wouldn't do it, then no one would.
The clubhouse was completely dead. Clay and Piney disappeared with that masturbating freak, so it just left her and maybe one or two other people. The rest of the MC would more than likely show up a little later on.
As Lena turned to write down some notes of things she had missed that needed to be ordered, her stomach dropped at the sight of Tara Knowles strolling her way inside. This woman had the worst time of showing up unexpectedly. Tara was the last person that Lena needed or even wanted to see right now.
"What are you doing here?" Lena questioned, when Tara cautiously approached her. "Jax isn't here."
Tara nodded nervously, now standing on the opposite side of the bar from Lena. Her bright eyes began to look around her familiar surroundings, everything rushing back to her. "I know. I'm here to see you, actually."
Lena's brows furrowed in confusion. What could possibly be the reason that the good doctor needed to see her? "Me? Why?"
Tara cleared her throat and finally took a seat. "Jax told me what happened, and I just wanted to personally offer my condolences."
Lena actually giggled at that, but there was no humor behind it. This bitch wasn't serious, was she? "Your condolences? Are you serious? You know what Tara? You can take your condolences and shove them right up your skinny ass." She spat bitterly. She was too emotionally unstable to deal with Tara at this moment. Just thinking about Jax not being with her, at a time when she needed him the most, to help Tara deal with her psycho stalker ex-boyfriend, caused the blood to boil in Lena's system.
"Excuse me?" Tara looked at Lena a little taken aback.
"I don't know what you thought by coming here and offering your condolences was gonna do when you and I both know that it's bullshit."
"It's not bullshit, Lena." Tara muttered in shock. "I just don't want–"
"It's not bullshit?" Lena cut Tara off, and all she felt was pure anger. "You say that you're not here for Jax –that you didn't come back to Charming for Jax– but yet every time I see him, you're lurking in his vicinity."
"I'm his son's surgeon." Tara tried to justify, her dark brows furrowing in confusion.
"Is that what you tell yourself at night, Tara?" Lena snipped. She could see right through Tara's pathetic condolences. She knew Jax's ex was feeling some type of guilt. "To make yourself feel better?"
"Look," Tara released a deep breath, "I just came here to–"
Lena quickly cut her off. "I know exactly what you just came here to do, and I'm putting an end to it right now. Just so we're clear, you and I need to get a few things straight, Tara. First, you being around Jax, relying on him to deal with your shit, that ends now." Tara went to protest when Lena threw a hand up to stop her in her tracks. "Second of all, you need to learn your place in this town. I'm Jax's Old Lady, now, not you. You gave that right up 10 years ago when you snuck out of here like a thief in the night without a second glance. Jax loves me. You're his past. I'm his future. And if you want to call this marking my territory, then have the fuck at it. But I am making sure you are aware that Jax is mine. Are we clear?"
Tara pursed her lips, trying to figure out what she was going to say next. But she thought better of it and just nodded her head. "Crystal."
"Good," Lena paused for a moment, before smacking her lips together, "now I need you to leave, and on your way out, take your shitty condolences with you."
Tara hesitated for a moment, before finally standing up from her seat, and walking out of the clubhouse.
Lena watched as Tara disappeared from her sight. She hadn't noticed that she had grabbed a bottle of gin, until she realized it was shaking uncontrollably in her hand. She quickly felt the itch to just throw the damn thing across the room to let her emotions loose, but instead she poured herself a shot. And for good measure, she poured herself three more.
Tumblr media
The clubhouse was now hustling and bustling with patrons, as Lena had expected it to. She was busy, behind the bar, pouring drinks and taking more shots with the members of SAMCRO that had showed up about a half an hour ago. Of course, Jax wasn't with them. At this point, Lena didn't really care.
"How you feelin', baby girl?" Tig asked, sipping his beer bottle, his crystal blue eyes looked at Lena with sympathy.
"I'm feeling better." Lena replied, trying to push down the urge of telling folks to stop asking her that.
"Yeah, Jackie boy was tellin' us you were takin' it pretty hard." Chibs commented, as Lena poured him another shot of whiskey. "Just so you know, SAMCRO –we're here for you, darlin'. Whatever you need."
Tig nodded in agreement, reaching out to pat her hand.
"Thanks boys." Lena gave them a warm smile, this time pouring two more shots. One for Tig and one for herself.
The three of them toasted, before throwing the shot back. Lena winced, feeling the burn of the liquor hitting the back of her throat. She was now definitely starting to feel it, making her body grow warmer. When she looked up she finally saw Jax making his way into the clubhouse and quickly over to her.
"Hey, babe," Lena greeted him.
"Hey." Jax looked at her, and immediately noticed that something was off with her demeanor.
Lena offered him a shot, but he turned it down. She just shrugged and took it herself, receiving much praise from Tig and Chibs.
"How many of those have you had tonight?" Jax questioned, still looking at Lena with concern written in his steely blues. Lena gave him another nonchalant shrug and tossed back another shot. "Maybe you need to slow down a bit."
Lena rolled her eyes annoyed –she was definitely starting to feel it– and poured herself yet another shot. "I'm fine, Jax." She went to toss that one back, before Jax reached out to stop her.
Jax immediately took the shot from her hands and set it down on the bar. "Can we talk?"
Lena sighed heavily, setting the whiskey bottle back on the shelf and giving the bar counter a good wipe. She then quickly dried her hands and made her way around the bar. Jax didn't let Lena's untouched shot go to waste as he downed it for himself and set the shot glass back down on the bar table. He then gave Chib's back a friendly pat and took Lena back to his dorm.
Lena went and sat on the bed, while Jax shut the door behind them. "So, what's up?"
Jax immediately joined her, his jean clad knee brushing against her bare thigh in the short skirt she was wearing. "So," he began, rubbing his hands together, "I got, um, I got some good news today. Abel is officially coming out of the toaster tomorrow and we can finally hold him."
At the mention of Abel, Lena felt a stabbing pain in her chest. It had been a week since she'd last seen him. It was that day, the day she lost her own baby, and hearing Jax telling her that Abel was getting better and that they'd be able to actually hold him, should have been the best news that she needed to hear. And for some reason, it wasn't.
Unfortunately, Lena knew she couldn't let Jax know that "That's great, Jax."
Jax nodded, smiling from ear to ear. "Means he should be coming home real soon."
That was also something that Lena couldn't bear to hear, but she pushed all of those feelings down. "That's wonderful. I'm so happy." She put on a big smile, pulling Jax in for a hug.
When they pulled back, Jax noticed that Lena's smile didn't quite reach her eyes. "Hey," he reached forward to push a curly tendril behind her ear, "you would tell me if you're not okay, right? We just lost a baby, babe, it's okay if you're not."
Lena swallowed thickly, her eyes cascaded down at her trembling hands. She then took a quick glance back up at Jax, as he still looked at her with concern. She couldn't take him looking at her like that. So, she leaned forward and pressed her mouth against his. Jax was caught off guard by the kiss, but quickly melted into it. Lena grabbed the lapels of his kutte and pulled him further toward her. They both fell back on the bed, their mouths still fused together in a tight liplock.
Jax's hand roughly grabbed at Lena's breasts through her top, as their kiss continued to deepen.
Then suddenly the door to the apartment was opened, and the pair immediately pulled apart. Much to Lena's disappointment.
"Hey, man, sorry to interrupt," Opie stood awkwardly by the door, "we got a problem. Mayans."
Jax nodded at his best friend. "Yeah, I'll be out in a minute."
Opie also nodded, shutting the door.
Jax sighed, running a hand through his shaggy hair. "You gonna be okay?" He turned to look at Lena.
"Yeah." Lena told him, not quite making eye contact with her Old Man.
Jax, again, cupping her face in his hands, leaned forward and kissed her lips. He then stood to his feet and headed out of the door.
Lena sat there for a few seconds after Jax had left. All of a sudden, her body was starting to shake, and she felt the tears stinging her eyes. But nipped that in the bud quickly, swallowing it all down. She then ran a hand through her curly locks and stood to her feet. If she was telling people that she was fine, she needed to show it.
Tumblr media
Lena awoke the next morning, back at Jax's house. Of course, like always, he wasn't there. When she rolled over, to check her phone, charging on the nightstand, she read the text he'd sent her just after he left. He was requesting that she'd meet him at the hospital later on today so they could be there when Abel officially gets out of his incubator.
Lena sat on the edge of the bed and read the text over and over again. She had contemplated not going. This was definitely going to be hard for her since her emotions were all over the place, and she knew that Abel shouldn't be exposed to that. It wasn't fair to him. But she just decided to fight against it. She needed to. Abel didn't deserve her abandonment. That also wasn't fair to him. It wasn't that innocent baby's fault that she had lost her own. Going to see him is what she needed.
After getting dressed, Lena had made her way into the kitchen to make herself a cup of coffee. As she rummaged through the mess of the cabinets for sugar, something immediately caught her attention. Her brows furrowed, as her fingers brushed against the smooth surface. She wrapped her hand around the thin neck, pulled it out of the cabinet, and finally into her line of vision. Swallowing thickly, she stared at the clear, swishing liquid in the glass bottle, while it stared tauntingly back at her.
Lena figured this must have been left behind from Wendy's secret stash that had been overlooked. She immediately thought about just shoving the bottle right back behind the other crap in the cabinet she got it from and not even think about it. But the ache in her chest caused her to realize how much it was calling out to her to numb her pain.
Without any further thought, Lena dumped her coffee and cup into the sink and grabbed a clean glass from the dishrack instead. Pouring herself a generous amount, she didn't hesitate to swallow the entire thing, feeling the immediate burn as the alcohol hit the back of her throat. When the burning stopped, she went to pour herself another glass full, but was disappointed to find the bottle now empty.
Feeling the ache in chest growing and the guilt resonating in the pit of her stomach, Lena released a deep, mournful sigh. She then tossed the bottle and the glass into the sink, causing them both to nearly shatter. With a shaky hand, she ran it across her sleek ponytail in frustration.
What the hell was going on with me? Lena thought to herself.
After a few moments of trying to catch her bearings, Lena had calmed herself down as much as possible, before grabbing her things and heading out of the house.
Tumblr media
Lena pulled her Mustang into the empty visitor's spot in the parking lot at St Thomas. She immediately turned the engine off and made a quick check of herself in the mirror, trying to make herself look as decent as possible. She quickly dabbed some extra concealer under her eyes to cover the dark circles and then made a few swipes of gloss across her full, plump lips. Shoving the items back into her purse, which had been sitting open in the passenger's seat, her eyes landed on something that was lying inside the bag, mocking her. She hesitated, before reaching over and yanking the small, clear object from its confinements.
Lena swallowed the lump in the back of her throat, looking down at the bottle currently in her hands. She hated herself for even having this in her possession, but it was like she wasn't in control of herself when she made a quick stop at the liquor store to pick up the one thing that was starting to help her mask the pain currently clenching in her gut.
Quickly unscrewing the cap, Lena placed the tip of the bottle to her and tipped the bottle back, taking a few desperate swallows. This time she barely even flinched as the clear liquid burned the back of her throat. Once she was satisfied, she twisted the cap back on and shoved the bottle back into her purse.
Lena nearly stumbled out of her car, her equilibrium already a bit compromised. She instantly pulled herself together, wiping the invisible dust from her jeans and resituated the strap of her purse on her shoulder, before making her way into the hospital. She immediately headed toward the NICU, a place that was all too familiar to her now.
Lena had just made it to Abel's room, peeking through the window. She expected to either see Jax or Gemma already inside with the infant, but her heart dropped at the sight before her. Her stomach twisted in knots, and she began to feel bile rising up her throat as she watched Jax's ex happily cradling Abel in her arms.
But this ex wasn't Tara.
"Wendy," Lena choked.
The last time Lena had seen Wendy, she was lying unconscious on Jax's kitchen floor. Wendy was drugged up and strung out. Now, this Wendy looked like a completely different person. She looked happy and healthy and ready to be a mother to Abel.
"Yeah, I was surprised to see her too."
A voice came up behind Lena, startling her. When she turned around, she found Tara, dressed in her white lab coat, approaching her cautiously. It had been less than 24 hours since Lena kicked the good doctor out of the clubhouse, so the tension was still thick between the women. Lena certainly didn't have the time to deal with this ex of her Old Man, but she knew she couldn't have Tara physically removed from here as this was Tara's territory.
Lena rolled eyes, muttering to herself. "Jesus Christ, it's a goddamn trifecta." She then turned back to peer at Wendy, who excitedly bounced Abel in her arms. The jealousy was starting to course through her system. "I thought I told you to stay away from me?"
The good doctor let out a deep sigh, having the actual nerve to come and stand next to Lena at the window. "This is a hospital, Lena. I'm actually employed to be here. And despite what you want, I'm still Abel's doctor." She told her, but kept her attention on Wendy herself.
Lena swallowed thickly, folding her arms across her chest. She was starting to get the itch for that bottle in her purse. She hated this. She really fucking hated this.
Things went quiet between the two women, before Tara cleared her throat, breaking their silence. "Look, maybe you and I should talk about the things you said to me yesterday. I kind of just want to clear the air."
Lena scoffed in irritation, whipping around to face Tara. "No, we don't actually. The air is completely clear with us. I meant everything that I said to you, Tara. I'm done here."
Tara eyed Lena warily, her eyes narrowing directly on Jax's Old Lady. "Have you been drinking this morning?"
Lena let out a small, frustrated groan. She knew she should have just walked away and waited for Jax, but she let herself be baited by Tara. "And why exactly would you say that?"
Tara took another half step toward Lena, holding her clipboard closer to her body. "Well, your speech is a bit slurred. Your eyes are glassy. Pupils dilated. And you smell like a brewery."
Lena pursed her lips together, really not wanting to hear anymore of what Tara was trying to accuse her of. Yes, she had a little bit to drink, but she was a fucking adult going through a lot right now. If she wanted to take the edge off, who was Tara to tell her otherwise. She didn't have to answer to anyone. Especially not Tara. "Look, what I do or don't do is none of your fucking business, alright?"
Tara stood a step back in surprise at Lena's anger. She knew she shouldn't have been surprised, but it still caught her off guard. "Oh, I beg to differ, Lena. You're in a hospital, surrounded by small, sick children. It is my job and my business to make sure that nothing happens to them. Maybe you should sober up, before I let you in there to see Abel."
"Let me?" Lena exclaimed at whatever audacity Tara had just thrown at her. "Oh, honey, you don't run anything around here. Especially not with me. If I want to see Abel, I have every right to. I've been here almost every fucking day since he was born. I am just as much his parent as Jax or Wendy."
Tara shook her head dismissively, walking back up to Lena. "Look, I know that losing your baby was hard on you, but maybe you need to think about things –slow down, before you really hurt yourself, Abel, or even Jax."
Lena went to open her mouth, but was cut off by Jax now approaching them. "Hey, what's going on?" He questioned, flitting his blue eyes between his ex-girlfriend and his Old Lady, sensing the tension coming from them.
The few members of SAMCRO that had arrived along with their VP, followed right behind him. They had stopped shortly when they noticed the two women standing at odds with each other in front of Abel's hospital room. They knew that it wasn't their place to interfere and to just let Jax handle it himself.
Before Lena could tell Jax that everything was fine, Tara, inconveniently, was the first to speak. "Maybe you should ask your girlfriend how much she's had to drink today." She sneered, turning on her heels and walked away, pretending to ignore Bobby, Chibs, and Happy on her way down the hall.
Jax watched Tara disappear, before looking down at Lena, who looked beyond irritated. "The hell is she talking about?"
Lena folded her arms back across her chest, looking down at her shuffling feet. "She's just being a paranoid bitch, Jax. I'm fine."
"Hey," Jax reached out to grab her face in his hands, and she finally looked up at him, "have you been drinking today, Lee?"
Lena threw a humorless laugh Jax's way and pulled back from his grip. Of course he would believe Tara over her. "You know what? I think I'm gonna take off. I know when I'm not needed."
As Lena turned to walk away from her Old Man, he immediately stopped her by gently grabbing her elbow and gently pulling her back toward him. "Lee, you gotta tell me what's going on here. I'm really worried about you."
Lena sighed heavily, turning back to fully face Jax and feeling the tears burning the back of her eyes. "Maybe I'm just a little overwhelmed right now. I just lost your baby, Jax. In which, I'm starting to get the feeling that you don't really give a rat's ass about. Your exes just keep popping up like mole rats, and I'm unsure of how I should be feeling. So, I'm just not even going to bother anymore. I'm gonna let you and Wendy have the time you deserve with your son. I...I just need some space." She told him, and this time she was able to turn to walk away, while ignoring the fact that he was calling out to her.
The moment Lena hit the front steps of the hospital, her heart beat angrily in her chest, and she felt the overwhelming urge to retrieve that bottle from her purse. She immediately thought better of it when she was approached by yet another unwelcomed face.
"And this day just got worse." Lena muttered to herself, before looking over at that unwelcomed face. "Is this what you ATF freaks do in your spare time? Lurk outside of hospitals?"
Federal Agent June Stahl chuckled sarcastically, striding her way up to the stairs, her FBI badge gleaming underneath the California sun, against her thin hip. "I guess you are referring to my former colleague, Agent Josh Kohn." The Agent stood intimidatingly in front of Lena. "Which, by the way, he never made it back to Chicago. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that now would you?"
Lena knew this woman had been in town long before Tara's little friend, Kohn, had shown his face, as the skinny bitch had been going around harassing other Old Ladies . Lena knew it was a matter of time before she was next. Agent Stahl was one of the many unsuccessful feds to come and leave with nothing on SAMCRO. But this time, Lena knew this heffa was back and more determined than ever to take Clay and Jax down.
Lena raised a perfectly arched brow, knowing that if Kohn was forced to leave town, but never made it, Jax definitely had something to do with it. Her Old Man was also determined to make the ATF piece of shit pay for what he did to them. But of course, Lena wasn't going to let Stahl know of her suspicions. She wasn't a rat.
"No," Lena shook her head, "but if anything did happen to that creep, I doubt anyone would miss him. So, good fucking riddance." She stated, trying to walk away.
Agent Stahl immediately stopped Lena, grabbing onto her upper arm. "No need to go anywhere, Miss Daniels. I think you and I should have a little chat."
Lena looked down at Agent Stahl's grip on her arm, similar to when Kohn grabbed her. She quickly snatched herself out of Stahl's hold. "Well, that sucks for you, Agent, because I'm not really in a chatty mood today. Especially with you."
Agent Stahl, again, stood in front of Lena, glaring at her. "Oh, you thought that was an option? I don't think so, sweetheart. You're gonna come down to the station with me, and you and I are gonna have ourselves a nice, long talk."
"I don't have anything to say to you." Lena spat bitterly. "Now, unless you have a warrant, I need to be on my way."
As Lena sidestepped Stahl, she hadn't realized the ATF Agent had spied something suspiciously hanging out of her purse.
"Uh, Miss Daniels," Stahl called out to Lena, causing the young woman to turn around, annoyed, "what's this?" She teasingly tipped over the half drank bottle of vodka that was supposed to have been at the bottom of Lena's bag. "An open container, in what I'm assuming will be in your car. That's kind of illegal. Maybe I should test your blood alcohol level and arrest you with the intent to drive under the influence."
Lena swallowed the lump at the back of her throat, clutching her purse closer to her body. She was fucking screwed. "What do you want from me?"
Agent Stahl smirked at getting her way once again. "A moment of your time. And this," she eyed the bottle again, "this goes away. The decision is yours."

I wasn’t around for soa in 2014 but i’m pretty sure the only reason kurt sutter decided to make jax and wendy have sex in 7x12 was to give fans a final shot of charlie’s overwhelmingly and concerningly worshipped ass 🤡 I can’t digest any other explanation because it added absolutely nothing to the story whatsoever… you know, besides flushing wendy’s dignity and character development down the shitter, that is.

Tumblr media
Hey! Thanks! I love answering SOA questions.  This is an interesting one.
Essentially, I think that Jax and Tara are consistently that one part of Stefan and Elena's own 'consuming' story arc in season 3
Tumblr media
So, they have this unshakable connection that's there from the pilot, from practically the moment they see each other again after 10 years
Tumblr media
and that connection acts as this saving grace for Jax,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
while for Tara, it envelops her and brings her even deeper into a world she was desperate to escape
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and it's the tension of that that's consuming for both of them because even though it would be easier to, and everyone is telling them to, because it creates so much friction because of their opposite roles
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
they simply cannot stop
Tumblr media
At the same time. I think the depth of feeling Jax has for Tara is of a consuming nature. He tells her as much in season 1, like this is what we were like when we were together before
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this can still get to that place but I'm a father now so I can't be that way with you because I have other people depending on me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, this conversation happens after we've already seen him get to that place anyway i.e. what he did with Kohn
Tumblr media Tumblr media
because, warranted or not, it was a reckless thing to do. He's an ATF agent and that could've had serious complications for him and for the club but he didn't think about that, he didn't think about the fact that there’s a guy who's been shot and is bleeding out in his clubhouse,
Tumblr media
he didn't hesitate because it's Tara.
He wasn't doing things like this for Wendy. Sure, he goes to the Hairy Dog and assaults one of Darby's men for selling her meth but that has more to do with Abel's condition and the principle of selling drugs to a pregnant woman than it did about Wendy herself. He didn't even know what was happening with her, he didn't bother to ask
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but Tara goes to Charming specifically because she knows that Jax will stop at nothing to protect her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To compound this, later on, we've seen what his love for Tara will push him to do with Wendy. After she upset Tara saying that she's going to file for custody of Abel
Tumblr media
he ruins her sobriety
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he assaults Ima, the catalyst is her sleeping with Opie but it's also because Tara hasn't forgotten that they slept together
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so he's particularly vicious
Tumblr media
And these things stand out because while Jax is in a biker gang that kills people and runs guns, he is framed as particularly sensitive or contemplative or having more of a conscience than other members (and, yes, the show is about his fall)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so when he does things that are impulsive and cruel (barring the things he did for Abel), it speaks to what he will do for Tara because of how much he loves her,
Tumblr media
which is layered further by how he treats other women because he treats them as disposable
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
except Tara.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when Tara and Jax have this conversation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
by this point Tara, who started the show with this sentiment in mind
Tumblr media
now -- because of her association with Jax and therefore the club -- has:
been kidnapped
Tumblr media
killed not one
Tumblr media
but at least two people
Tumblr media
stolen medical equipment
Tumblr media
has had her career threatened
Tumblr media
has been held at knife point/gun point
Tumblr media Tumblr media
her hand has been smashed
Tumblr media
she's given birth to a son and raised him as well as Abel for a year without Jax while he was in prison
Tumblr media
has put her house up for collateral to get him out of prison the first time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and she struggles with the violence and the lack of boundaries and her growing role in this whole situation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and she still can't help but love him, a love that looks like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So when we get to that conversation, she has actively done things for him and because of him as well as endured things because of him but we also see what they’re like together
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and we’ve seen what he’d do for her that her saying “if I could stop, I would” is earned.
When Delena are meant to be doing things like this, it’s perfunctory at best because it’s mostly dialogue
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there are just the simple things like when I talk about the high highs and low lows of a consuming relationship, it requires tumult do we get anything remotely close to this with Delena:

Marked for Carnage - Chapter 1 (Juice Ortiz x OC Fic)
Tumblr media
Marked for Carnage Masterlist
A/N: This is chapter 1 of my Juice Ortiz x OC multi chapter fanfic. I am hoping to mesh this story line with all 7 seasons of SOA. This is an 18+ fic so if you are under 18 please do not interact or read. The themes may not hit 18+ for a few chapters but I intend them to as the story progresses. I apologize that there isn't much Juice x OC in this chapter, I was really wanting to set a foundation for my OC and how she is tied into this world. My asks are open if anyone has any questions about my OC. Also I aplogise if there are any errors, I have a toddler and a baby so I'm doing this on the fly. I hope you enjoy :)
Word Count: 2390 words
If there was one thing that Veronica Winston wished for it was that she had taken the job offer from Mercy General rather than St Thomas. Sacramento was close enough to Charming without being too close, but - being the push over that she was - she had let her father talk her into moving home. "Nothing's more important than family," he had stated, using her brother's recent release from prison to really drive the point home. Now here she was, stalking the hallways of St Thomas Hospital, the scent of antiseptic flooding her nose, as she followed the directions given to her by the admin staff to the nearest elevator. She had just about ran from the desk when the lady behind it asked if she was related to "those Winston's."
She pulled her long, dark hair out from the ponytail she'd put it in, hoping it would provide some kind of barrier between her and anyone who may recognize her. It had been nearly 10 years since she had last stepped foot in Charming. Her stomach had been lead weight since she had driven past the welcome sign at the edge of town. She jabbed the elevator button as she stopped in front of the closed doors, tapping her foot impatiently. She quickly scanned the area behind her, regretting the action as soon as her eyes met his. Jax Teller. Quickly she looked away and hoped that he hadn’t seen her.
"Ronnie?" She sighed when he called her name. Shoving her phone into the pocket of her scrubs she turned and smiled at him. "Hey Jax," she sent a silent prayer to the elevator gods that the stupid thing would hurry up and arrive. "Jesus, how long has it been?" he asked, pulling her into a quick one armed hug. "Nearly 10 years," she shrugged, kicking the toe of her shoe on the linoleum. "Yeah I guess so… your Pops didn’t say anything about you being back in town?" he asked, adjusting his cut. Her eyes found the Vice President patch sewn there. She raised her eyebrows. "I ah… asked him not to tell anyone. Ope too." Jax cocked an eyebrow and angled his head in question. "Alright…" he murmured. "I'll keep this under wraps then." Ronnie smiled appreciatively.
"You visiting someone?" she asked. His face dropped and suddenly she regretted asking him. "My kid is up in the NICU. He had surgery last night." Ronnie sighed and shook her head. "Shit Jax, I hope everything's ok." He shrugged and glanced down the hallway. "He's looking ok. Strong little guy. Shit with Wendy ya know…" he shrugged. "Damn, she still not got her shit together?" she asked. Jax shook his head. "Well he is a Teller. I'm sure he will pull through." Jax grinned proudly and nodded. "Well, you should come by Gemma's place sometime. She's still in the same house. I'm sure she would love to see you," Jax began to make his way down the hallway, throwing a wave behind him as he left. "Yeah, sure," Ronnie mumbled half heartedly. The elevator doors finally opened and Ronnie got in, pressing the button for the bottom floor. She found the doors she was looking for, the sign above indicating that she had reached the morgue. Of course, it would be strange to admit that she felt at home in a morgue. Which is why she never said it out loud. But it was true. Pulling her hair back into it's ponytail she walked through the doors, ready for a fresh start.
10 hours later Ronnie stood in the parking lot, stretching her back as the balmy early evening air settled around her. It appeared that being an assistant medical examiner in Charming wasn't going to be as fast paced as her previous location. She had spent part of her morning reviewing the one case they currently had open - a hit and run that had happened in the Charming jurisdiction although only by literal centimetres - and then the rest of her time she archived historical paperwork and counted down the minutes until her scheduled breaks. Ronnie groaned at the pain in her back, cursing herself for sitting with shitty posture for her whole shift, when suddenly someone cleared their throat. She turned and spotted the row of Harley's parked against the curb.
A guy around her age, with golden brown skin and a mohawk with two tattoos inked either side of it, sat on the bike at the very end. He was sporting one of the most gorgeous smiles she had ever seen and he was directing it at her. Ronnie's stomach buzzed, but she told it to pipe down when she spotted the cut she was wearing - one with a patch identical to her brother and fathers. She looked around in case he was looking at someone else, but they were the only two souls in the lot. "Nice ink," he said, jutting his chin in her direction. She looked down at her right arm, as if noticing the various designs tattooed there for the first time. Feeling her face warming, she met his stare. "Thanks, you too," she murmured, before walking to her car and hastily getting behind the wheel. Putting the key in the ignition she started it up, cursing and looking back at the man on the bike in her mirror as the engine coughed and sputtered before starting up. Pulling out of the lot, Ronnie began her journey home.
Juice smirked as he watched the black Toyota SUV pull out of the hospital parking lot. He had never seen the woman who had driven it away before, but the fullness of her hips and the soft curving of her waist had him wanting to see more of her. Juice would admit that it didn't take much to rev his engine but the way she had raised her eyebrow at him in indifference, how her tattoos covered the soft looking skin of her arm and the groan she let out as she stretched her back… almost had him adjusting himself in his pants. "Hey idiot," Tig smacked him up the back of the head. "What's got you so goddam happy?" Juice only grinned and shook his head. "Just thinkin' about Sack and that deer." Tig laughed and pointed straight at him. "Bet you're glad you're not the bottom of the food chain no more, huh?" Juice nodded as he watched the rest of his brothers exit the hospital, strapping his helmet on and starting up his dyna.
Ronnie sat on the small sofa in her loungeroom, an open beer on the coffee table and a microwaved dinner on her lap. She aimlessly flicked through channels, stopping briefly on the local news channel when she saw the headlines "San Leandro Warehouse Fire, Multiple Deaths." "Jesus Christ," she mumbled, taking a sip of beer. Suddenly, her phone ringing pulled her attention from the tv. Flicking it open, she saw her father's landline number and answered. "Hey Pop," she smiled. "Hey sweetheart," her father's rough timber came through the receiver. "How was your first day?" Ronnie smiled. She had missed this. Her father only really called once every couple of months when she had been gone from Charming, and she was certainly guilty of avoiding calling him. But since being back he seemed to really be interested in what was happening in her life.
"It was good dad, same shit different state really." Piney laughed. "Well that's good to hear, Ron, good to hear." She rolled her eyes at the nickname. "Listen, I was going to head over to Opie and Donna's place for dinner. Why don’t you come too? See the kids and say hello," Piney trailed off, leaving the buzz of the phone line ringing in Ronnie's ears. "I don’t know dad, I mean… I've already had dinner and," she paused, blowing out a sigh. "I don’t think Ope would want me there." Her father grunted on the other end, no doubt rolling his eyes identically to the way she had moments beforehand. "He's your brother. Of course he wants you there," he said. Ronnie closed her eyes. "Alright, I'll come see them. Do you need a ride?"
Ronnie pulled up out the front of her brothers house, parking her car next to Piney's trike. She made her way up the path to the front door, wringing her hands together in anxiety. She tersely rapped her knuckles against the door, her stomach in knots. Donna pulled the door open, her eyes widening at the site of her sister-in-law. "Veronica!" she exclaimed, glancing back into the house. "I didn’t know you were coming," Donna said, awkwardly smiling. "Oh, shit sorry, I thought dad might have said something. He kind of… invited me I guess," Ronnie said. Trust Piney to not say shit. "It's fine," Donna stepped aside, motioning for Ronnie to enter. "Come in. I've just served dinner, are you hungry?" Ronnie shook her head as she entered the house. "Nah I already ate. Thanks though." She continued to blindly follow the hallway, hoping she was going the right way.
The hall opened up into the dining room and Veronica stopped short as she saw Piney, Opie and her niece and nephew, Ellie and Kenny, sitting at the table with plates in front of them. "Hey," Ronnie cleared her throat. "Hey Ope. Hi Ellie, Kenny." She waved at the kids. They awkwardly waved back, glancing at their dad. Opie dropped his fork, making Ronnie and the kids jump as it clattered against his plate. "Ope?!" Donna started from behind Ronnie. "Not hungry," he grunted out before he made his way out the back door into the backyard, slamming the door behind him. The silence in the room was deafening as Ronnie internally fought with what she should do next. She smiled at the kids again before she followed her brother through the door. Opie sat on a porch swing that was in the back corner of the backyard, a lit cigarette between his lips.
Ronnie made her way over to him, her black boots scuffing along the short patched of turf and dirt. "Those things will kill ya, you know," she motioned to his cigarette. Opie ignored her, taking a long drag. "Look, Ope…" she began, pushing her hands into her pockets. "I know you’re not my biggest fan right n-" "You really think you can just come back like you didn’t just drop off the face of the earth for 10 years?" he cut her off. Ronnie sighed, running her hand over her hair, gathering it over one shoulder. "Dropping off the face of the earth is slightly dramatic, don’t ya think?" Opie met her eyes, his mouth a hard line. "Dad was already sick before you left and you just disappearing only made him worse. You missed my wedding!" he took a another draw of his cigarette. "My kids hardly even know their Aunt…" he laughed without humour and shook his head. "And you just walk in and say hi? You really think that would be it?"
Ronnie sighed and sat next to her brother on the porch swing. "I'm… I'm sorry Ope. I couldn't stay," she cracked her knuckles, habit her mother always scolded her for when she was little. "I honestly didn’t realise I'd hurt you this bad." Opie shook his head, knocking his knee against Ronnie's. "You're my baby sister," he mumbled. "We already had so much time apart after mom and dad divorced. It felt like I had gotten you back for a little while and then you just took off." Ronnie's heart sank. She never gave her brother much credit for just how much he loved his family - although he didn’t always show it. "Shit Ope. You know I didn't do it to hurt you. I had to get away. Away from," she swallowed thickly, her skin crawling. "Him." Opie scoffed. "You know we wouldn’t have let him put his hands on you. Me, Pops. Shit even Jax would put a bullet in his head before he let you get hurt."
Ronnie shook her head. "But he did put his hands on me Ope. Distance," she sighed. "Distance felt like the best option. And this place. This town," she motioned with her hand. "Everywhere I went it felt like him. Felt like he had tainted it somehow. Even being back now," she shivered, running her hands up and down her arms. "I'm sick to my stomach Ope. He could pop up anywhere." Opie turned to his sister, his stare cutting her off. "You see one glimpse of him, you tell me. I won't let that shit stain near you." Ronnie smiled flatly, patting Opie's back and standing. "Yeah yeah, I'll put you on speed dial," she smiled. Opie huffed a laugh and stood. Ronnie smiled and pulled him into a brief hug. "Still not okay with you going ghost," he said. She nodded, pulling away. "I know. But I'm here now. And I'm gonna make up for these last 10 years."
Ronnie walked arm in arm with her father to where their vehicles were parked. "Well after your brothers tantrum, that all seemed to go okay," Piney said, leaning over to kiss his daughter on the head. "Yeah Pops, you know Ope. He's soft at heart. Won’t be long and I'll be back in his good books," she smiled, watching Piney climb aboard his trike. "You working tomorrow sweetheart?" he asked, buckling his helmet on. She nodded, unlocking her SUV. "Yeah I'm always working." Piney smiled, his old heart warming knowing there was no longer distance between him and his two kids. "Alright, I'll follow you home. Make sure you get there safe." Ronnie began to protest and then remembered her conversation with her brother. "That would be great, thanks Pop." She slid into the drivers seat of her car and tried to start the engine. The car coughed and chugged once before it conked out completely. "Piece of shit," she slammed her hands against the wheel. Piney lifted his arms in a questioning manner. She jumped out. "Car won’t start." Piney motioned back to Opie's house. "Get your brother to drive you home, I'll get someone from TM to come tow your car to the garage tomorrow." Ronnie sighed and bid her father farewell before she made her way back up the path towards Opie's house.
