-Yamamoto doesn't like music but if he was forced to listen to something' it'd be 60s rock

-Soi Fon listens to country in secret and cries over love songs because they remind her of her girlfriend

-Rose is a big 70s-90s rock fan and will never shut up about it. He does a LOT of covers and knows more than literally anyone else. (he is also a Lady Gaga fan)

-Unohana listens to death metal and nu metal and sometimes softcore stuff

-Shinji is a canon jazz fan but likes hip hop and rnb stuff too

-Byakuya likes classical Japanese music but ever since Rukia introduced him to Hatsune Miku he's been fascinated by her

-Komamura listens to folk music

-Shunsui listens to the Rolling Stones /Lisa listens to the most explicit music ever (she loves WAP and thinks Closer by Nine Inch Nails is relatable)

I LIED I'm gonna talk about my pjsk ocs again sorry

*editing to say that these are post 3rd anni :3

This time relationships with canon characters!!!!!

(They're all subject to change bc,,, I'm inconsistent and everything is still in development teehee)

I'm gonna kinda try to explain these btw

Toshiro! They're in class 2B, which makes then classmates with Mizuki and Toya. They've interacted with Mizuki a few times, but a little more so with Toya! Toshiro kinda admires Toya's demeanor in a way? And good grades/intelligence. Toshiro isn't the best with school, really.

He's a BIG MMJ fan actually. Like, going to all the concerts, following them on social media, absolutely fangirling over them fan. He has a lot of respect for Heruka with the way she holds herself. Actually, I think Toshiro would like to be less all over the place, so he tends to respect people that appear to be call and collected.

They met Ichika somewhere in middle school (though I didn't mark them as childhood friends, idk, just. didn't feel it) and became friends, but got really closer only in high-school, having similar interests (mainly vocaloid), and being able to share experiences and advice about being in a band! (Though I'm still not sure what exactly my Little Guys are. Are they a band..?) Anyways, through Ichika he knows the rest of l/n, but isn't close with them.

Toshiro has crossed paths with Rui, Tsukasa and Nene, being in the same school, and he pretty much thinks all of them are cool, but finds himself respecting Tsukasa's ambition a lot.

Matsu! He's in class 3C, being classmates with ruikasa. They've interacted a little, but not much. He thinks they're both kinda fun, that's about it. He's also interacted with Akito, Toya, and An, but it's the same situation, where he just thinks they're neat. Matsu had also encountered Mizuki before, and he thinks they're extremely cool and loves their style. He's also encountered Shiho in a uh. music store? instrument store? yk. He just thinks she's rlly cool.

Toshiro often drags Matsu with them to MMJ concerts and stuff (which can be a bit overwhelming, but he still likes it and has way of dealing with it pretty easily), and he found himself kinda admiring Airi for her energy! Though he doesn't care that much about the rest of the group, to Toshiro's slight disappointment. (Toshiro constantly tries to get Matsu rlly into MMJ. Matsu thinks it's fun. Maybe he will also become a fan?)

Matsu's and Emu's energy kinda match, so at some point they met and became friends! I haven't really come up with how they met though,,,, yet.

Fumi! She's not as social as the other members and doesn't have that many connections to canon characters. She's in class 2A, but isn't close with any of her classmates!

They've come across both Rui and Tsukasa while they were running away from a teacher, so. Fumi might kinda think these two are a little annoying. Which is understandable ig,,,,

With Shiho it's a similar story as with Matsu, they've seen her in a music store and the two kinda darted talking and their energy also somewhat matches, so over time they became friends! Fumi likes Shiho's vibe and often talks about music stuff with her. Overall, Fumi might be a bit judgemental, but she has her reasons. I think,,

Oh, also, Mafuyu! They've only interacted for a short period of time, but something about Mafuyu makes Fumi admire him in a way? (Though I did mark it as respect)

Finally, Seina! She's in Miyamasuzaka in the same class as Mafuyu. The two haven't interacted all that much, but Mafuyu once helped her, so Seina has a positive opinion of him.

She once came across the Shinonome siblings in a café she works at part-time (fun fact!), while they were arguing about something (flavor of cheesecak idk), and ended up having a small conversation with both after taking their order.

She's friends with Shizuku because, yea, again, somewhat similar energy, I think they'd get along. Ended up meeting the rest of MMJ through her, and thinks Haruka is very cool. When Toshiro found out Seina knew MMJ personally, he almost passed out.

Also, Seina ended up meeting Ichika through Toshiro. She thinks Ichika is sweet and whenever she comes to the Cafe Seina works at (which isn't that often, but still), she likes to chat with her a little.

I'll talk about the relationships between the unit members layer because I can literally talk about it for hours, it's a whole other thing,,

Vocal Synth Headcanons as of March 2024

I wanna share my new headcanons as they've changed a lot and also I feel like tumblr will either ignore them or appreciate them quietly. These headcanons will include sexuality, romantic attraction, relationships, species, age, etc. <3

Before I get into this, I wanna preface this with how I view the vocal synth world in my head. In this world, vocal synths as we know them, are singers for hire and the engine(s) that they are on are the companies they work for. The companies that made them are their management team. So vocals like Miku and the cryptonloids have large management teams, aka crypton, but vocals made by singular people like independently owned utaus only have one manager. Some singers are just normal human beings, some are robots, some are literal fae, etc. But yea, the premise for all of this is that they are singers for hire.

Hatsune Miku:

A literal robot. Built in with the personality and intelligence of an adult, but marketed as a teen idol to attract more customers. THE singer for hire at Vocaloid. There are multiple Miku's because she is in such high demand. The one I like to think about specifically is an older original V2 model that has been given more modern upgrades throughout the years. She is in a relationship with Gumi. Non-repulsed asexual, but like physically she has no parts for it so (cough cough I did write wireplay gumiku fanfic cough cough). Bi-romantic.

Gumi Meg Poid

Human, around 24. In a relationship with a specific Miku. Is a single mother to Ryuto (Gachapoid). Very busy work schedule, but always tries her best to make time for her kid and her girlfriend. Lesbian. A good cook. Fell in love with Miku after singing with her a lot. Lives just outside the city in a little house with her son. Miku has keys to her house, but they don't live together because Miku is required to live close to the studio. She's a high school drop out because she found Ryuto. In this AU I have split up Megpoid (her product name) into a middle and last name. I do the same with Ryuto. The Poid family lol. (but not gakpoid because I don't have strong enough opinions about him to include him in this au. Maybe they're siblings idk).

Ryuto Gacha Poid

Gumi's son, not biologically. Currently around 7 years old. Kinda sorta half monster/dinosaur thing? Born from an egg (inspired by the light reading I did of the gachapin wikapedia page one night). Gumi saw a box on her way home from school that said something like "please take me home" and assumed it was gonna be like a cat or something. She had planned to take it to a shelter instead of leaving it in the rain. Inside the box was a large off-white egg with green spots. She assumed it was some kind of decoration and was about to walk away when it started to hatch. And out pops a crying little baby boy with little horns and a tail. What the fuck, she can't just leave him there. And thus, she has a kid now. Middle name is Gacha because gumi thought it was silly how she got him sort of like a gacha game. He is able to suppress his monster parts, but they still come out when he's really emotional. Sweet hyperactive baby boy. Probably has AuDHD. Friends with a lot of the other Vsynth Kiddos, but besties with Mo Jin. Lowkey really into hard rock and metal music (because that's what he's good at singing, I will fight people please let him sing more metal).

Hua Mo Jin

(ough my sweetest baby gorl aaaaaa more people should love you like I do. Some of what I'm about to write is canon from her character info on dsound so) Huamn, 6 years old. Surprisingly very tall for her age (I never draw her tall, but canonically she is like the average height of a 9 year old). Lives with her older sister, Hua Mo Ci, who she received her rabbit plush from. The rabbit plush scares everyone around her, but she thinks it's really sweet and takes it everywhere. She does not like hard foods, her favorite food is peony steamed buns. Autistic for sure. Also has albinism. Very quiet and doesn't talk much, but loves to sing. Does not get hired very often. Besties with Ryuto despite their language barrier. They're both working on learning English. I headcanon that her mother is dead and that she just lives with Mo Ci because it sort of parallels Gumi and Ryuto.

A literal alien from the planet ARIA. This is the human disguise she takes, but her actual form is kinda blob-like and translucent idk I need to draw it out sometime. Has a younger sister named ONE. In human years she's around 19. In a relationship with Flower. Non-repulsed Asexual (can you tell I'm projecting my sexuality onto the robots and aliens yet?). Her species reproduces asexually so she never really thought about it before dating Flower, but she's open to it. Romantically I'd just say queer. I mean she's not even human and her taking on the persona of a woman was kinda arbitrary. Enjoys learning about humans. Very sleepy, she never quite gets used to earth time. Prefers to wear comfy clothes when she's not performing.

ONE

Again, an Alien from ARIA. Around 15 in human years. More energetic than IA. Participates in athletics at the school she's attending. Socially awkward and kinda shy. Somehow the more responsible of the sisters, she usually cooks breakfast because IA doesn't get up early ever. In a relationship with KAFU. Thinks humans are strange creatures. Romantically a Lesbian, but like in a gender queer way. Really looks up to her sister.

Flower

Human. 100% a lesbian you can't convince me otherwise. Somewhere around 21 I think. Another single mom, but to twins this time. It's a whole story. In a relationship with IA. Somehow keeps attracting otherworldly beings into her life. Xin Hua is her cousin, they're around the same age and pretty close.

So here's her single mom backstory. When she was a kid she used to visit her grandparents for the summer along with Xin Hua. They had would play at the little park across the road (out in the country ya know?) and their grandma would always bring them fresh fruit to snack on. So one day she eats some plums and buries the seeds at that little park. And well she stopped staying at her grandparents for the summer. She returns years later after the death of her grandparents to help clean out their house and she notices that a plum tree has grown at that little park. She takes a break to go over there and have a plum for old times sake and 2 kids fall out of the tree like "Mom!!!" Oopsie, she accidentally created 2 plum tree spirits and now she's got kids.

She is a very tired single mother and still can't really believe that this happened, but she loves them all the same and does her best for them.

KAFU

A literal robot. Created with the personality and intelligence of a teenager (16-17. KAF was 17 at the time of recording so KAFU is minor). In a relationship with ONE. Asexual grey-aromantic) Very curious personality. Likes learning things about ARIA from ONE. Very busy work schedule.

MEIKA Hime

One of Flowers little fae kids. Around 11-12. Very bubbly and hyperactive, def has ADHD. Hyperfixated on plants. Attached at the hip to her twin (I mean like an unhealthy kinda codependency for real). Non-binary, They/She. Some kinda queer. Has a crush on Una. Friends with the other middle school age kids (Una, Oliver, etc.). Not very good at academics, but enjoys science. Has psychic powers. Their life is directly affected by the their tree so if the tree gets sick or hurt, so does she. Is a sleepwalker, often ends up scaring people in the middle of the night on accident.

MEIKA Mikoto

The other fae child. Around 11-12. Not talkative at all, very blunt when she does speak. Maybe autistic, but could just be antisocial I'm not sure yet. Attached at the hip to their twin (I mean like an unhealthy kinda codependency for real). Non-binary, They/She/He. Some kinda queer. Hyperfixated on insects. Enjoys horror movies and novels. Hime's rock. Holds a bit of resentment toward Flower for leaving them alone for so long, but it fades after they start living together. Has psychic powers. Their life is directly affected by the their tree so if the tree gets sick or hurt, so does he. They prefer quiet study sessions with Oliver and find Una to be a little overwhelming at times. She enjoys learning about astrology from IA once she starts hanging around more often (when her and Flower start dating).

Kaai Yuki

Human. 9 years old. Poor immune system, often gets sick (bc her voice provider literally had a cold at the time of recording her voicebank). Kiyoteru is her foster parent, but he does eventually adopt her. Really enjoys school and learning. Tutors the littler kids.

Yun Quan

(if it's not obvious this is my fan design for her) Human, around 8. Tall for her age. Snarky and a rich girl. Very protective of her friends and very mean to everyone else. She's not allowed to wear makeup, but really wants to be able to wear it, so she just has a huge collection of lip smackers lip balm.

Otomachi Una

Human, 11. Sees gumi as a sort of big sister / mentor figure since they share a management team. ADHD. Hyperfixated on marine life, specifically eels. Since she like canonically has different personas (Sugar, Spicy, and Talk) that all seem very different, I sort of have this idea that she has DID and that those personas her her different alters, but I don't have DID and don't wanna misrepresent it so I'm hesitant with that one. My other idea for it that I lean more toward is that they're her different ways of masking. So like Spicy could be her preformance mask, sugar could be how she is in everyday life, and talk could be how she presents in school. I know I (my autistic ass) have different masks for different social settings. Also Una is really into Scene fashion and 100% drinks Monster. She is in marching band.

Oliver

Zombie boy. around 11. Soft spoken and anxious. has a pet bird named James. His whole family is some kinda monster. Self concious about his stitches so he covers them with bandages, but that just draws more attention to him. Does not like going to school or really in public at all. Afraid of water. Close friends with Mikoto and Yuki.

1. favorite song lyrics?

honestly, there are some incredibly interesting (and sad) lyrics mahiru has but my favorites are solely the ones that are addicting to listen to.

i adore the way okasaki miho sings "futari overheat de" and the entireity of "purururu yonaka ni kimi ni calling, muriyari okoshite good morning~"

(slightly unrelated but the es cover where they just deadpan the entire song is so iconic.)

9. do you forgive/not forgive their crime on its own?

i want to say yes because i'm very fiercely dedicated to defending mahiru but it's not a very confident yes. if i was simply told whether to forgive someone for being unintentionally driving their lover to suicide then i think i'd react with disgust, but i know mahiru. i know there's a lot more nuance to her case and, if i'm allowed to factor that in, then yes i would forgive her.

18. which non-deco vocaloid songs do you think suit them?

sob i actually did this with all of the prisoners here but i think my choices for mahiru are so... bland? like yea yea these are popular songs about love, big whoop.

i do plan on making a playlist for mahiru and her boyfriend for a small fic i'm writing so hopefully those will yield better ideas for songs (fingers crossed!)

I love drawing them all being silly its a very fun thing. Meta knight being unhinged is a concept i really like. The stoic very swag one that will go crazy and ask a giant cat girl clock to fight another swag guy who lives in a ring pop? A concept i can get behind.

I listen to a lot of vocaloid too and my brother drew Kirb-iku earlier so i stole his concept because i am evil. [/j he liked my drawing so he didnt mind]

Niko since u really like vocaloid have u ever listened 2 nico nico chorus before and other utaites (hanatan, kanzentaicell, etc) who cover vocaloid songs???

YEA i used to listen to so many nico choruses in high school but i've kinda veered away from them! and tbh. the main reason i prefer youtube over spotify is bc most of my fav utaites do not upload to spotify 😭

i really like miyashita yuu, chogakusei, dongdang, dazbee, dalnodo to name a few of the more active ones!

hanatan has a nice voice, i like some of her collabs but only when the producer knows how to compose music to suit her voice. in certain songs she can be kinda......pitchy....and i dont like it

i also miss when reol collabed with giga and okiku too. her recent stuff (and giga's recent stuff) isn't doing it for me like gokusaishiki and sigma did back in 2015-2017 or so 😔

i think lately tho i've been into a lot of utau covers tho, nothing can beat the sound of a good utau for me atm! i can't really explain it but the sound of a well-tuned utau is sooo pleasing to me (and a lot of people who make utau covers will cover unusual songs that many mainstream utaites do not! though miyashita yuu is really good at handpicking excellent relatively unknown songs which is why i like him a lot. i think the reason i don't listen to a lot of bigger name utaites lately is bc they all just cover the same songs 😭)

also i really like the new ending for the leona b-day fic! it felt more natural but either way, its a really good fic!!

Also sorry i havent been active on enstars much im trying but idk the gameplay isnt my favorite- but i keep trying to remind my self to at least login daily—

Twst and Project Sekai (Yes i actually play it now and can confirm some of the beat maps are uh impossible-) have been taking like all my time but im hoping to play Enstars more

ahhh thank you for liking the changed ending :D i really didn't like the original ending bc of how rushed i wrote it sjfdksfj i just wanted to put something out for his birthday and it wasn't the most well thought out ending to a fic i've been working on for a while,,,,which is why i changed it in the first place >:DD

+ honestly dw abt not being active on enstars ! it's got a lot of gimmicks which makes it kinda...hard to get into + the fact that there was a prequel game so it's kinda weird seeing all these chars being introduced as ppl we're already supposed to know jskfjskd

but i can confirm prosekai beatmaps are so ????? as someone who likes consistency, i absolutely despise that the notes can change sizes sjdkfjskf i've been trying the game out since my cousin has it, and as much as i enjoy vocaloid i am nOT a person who likes putting themselves through THAT much Pain and Suffering— JSKDFJKF

I have a BAD feeling that anti-power holder and elemental sentiment will grow after more entities show up…

Oh yea absolutely! Especially as entities show up, a lot of them are gonna be confused as elementals or powered individuals.

Mahito, Miku, the trolls, and gems would most likely be seen as powered individuals and not entities because of how "human" they look compared to someone like Hanami, Yami, Jogo, and Dagon (who would more likely be seen as elementals themselves who just were "unlucky" in the looks department).

So seeing how these "elementals" and people with "powers" are using their abilities to change and even kill people would absolutely make humans without powers (even elementals without powers) very hateful towards people with powers and elementals as a whole.

I can see a lot of people advocating for Nueva York and other copy-companies to bring back the old power restraining system that caused the Power Revolution because of what is going on, not knowing that these things are entities and not humans.

However, once the fact that these things are not humans get out (probably thanks to the trolls or vocaloids technological skills/powers) I can see a lot of these humans wanting people with powers and elementals to protect them (also for robots to protect them as well since there was probably a growing resentment towards robots gaining sentience).

The problem with the whole anti-power movement, is that it was one of the major reasons for the entities to even be made (there's another reason, but even without that reason, the anti-power movement would have still been a factor in entities forming but at a much later date than just after the 10 year timeskip).

Reducing powers like how Miguel was doing (and some companies still do despite the research and revolutions saying that it is bad) causes less people to be anchors for the magic of the world. Which led to a lot more wild magic, which then led to the entities being able to be formed thanks to all the wild magic.

I can see people like Mahito and Miku explaining this to people, the trolls would absolutely be telling humans how this is all their fault and they deserve this fate because of how stupid they are and stuff.

Humanity is going to be kinda split on this whole thing. There will be people who believe this, and people who will still think these are just humans/elementals with great powers. Some will want to side with the entities (like elementals/high powered individuals sick of being treated like shit, as well as humans with no powers or element wanting to get stronger). While others want to save humanity (either by trying to find a compromise, or even trying to kill all entities, which could also have the sentiment of killing all robots, but not everyone will be on board with that and would rather build more robots as anchors to absorb more magic).

It really is just gonna be a whole shitshow with multiple different sides to the conflict, with even those on the same side being at odds with each other. (I would love to explore how the "good" side has differing ideas on how to handle this stuff and how they might be at odds with each other despite wanting to save humanity. Like Peni would want to find a compromise because of kits friendship with Dagon, while I can see Satoru being willing to just kill any entity there is without a second thought).

The division between the main cast could be really cool to see. Though they all absolutely would wan to save the world and everyone in it if they can, there will still be some disagreements between everyone at some point, even if they don't mean it (kinda want to see how everyone would react to Purl possibly wanting to join the entity's side of things since I can see them being convinced).

But yea, there is definitely going to be an uptick in hatred for elementals as well as an increase/resurgence to the anti-power movement, even after learning that these entities are a result of too much wild magic being in the world and not in people.

fdgsddsf i don’t know what this says about me... and i kept babbling on each of these way more than i think i was supposed to!! but here they are in no particular order:

White Happy - Maretu it’s just the fucking refrain, it just keeps playing in my head.... maretu’s stuff is so edgy, but often with a few lines of pure gold mixed in, and yea the “come and destroy my sense of inferiority” and the thing about being lovable being a talent the speaker wasn’t blessed with, ahh...

Tetris - Plastic Tree again something that will not leave my head and always gets me pumped up!! i’ve hacked away so many fic chapters listening to this it’s ridiculous. i like how the lyrics are just disjointed words thrown in the air but it still feels like there’s a connection, a continuity.

Sanbika - Plastic Tree gdfgdshg this is... just such a good song for me to get some writing ideas flowing in my head. something about the line of feeling like everything can be forgiven, this sort of melancholic hopefulness....

Fushigi no Kohanasaichi - PinocchioP i feel for this song so much and yea catchy as hell too. i love love love how the voice expecting things ends up being the speaker and how disappointing it is turned out into being good ahhhh

Pascal Beats - Yuki Kaai “say, can’t you understand more? i’ve run out of energy i was counting on” dgsfg relatable as hell, i like how much this song does with so little.

Love is Onomatopoeia - PinocchioP i love japanese onomatopoeias and this song has some lines about love that just fucking hit spot on where i need them to hit. is it love or sickness? and the juxtaposition of like, is it just noise or can it become music.

Laughing Mannequin - napoliemon, but the Onyu cover this song is just?? cool?? i’m tempted to try making a lil bit more accurate translation for myself... i love how it’s all about this pain and hurt, but gets more and more about getting better and staying hopeful almost as to spite the hardships. and the last line of “keep hitting my glass heart, if it breaks it’s just good” is just !!!

Odori to Chishidoku - CapsLack yea ok i fucking. ended up translating this song because nobody else has done it, it got so badly stuck in my head and i needed to know what exactly it was about and bbbbboy the lyrics are. so cool. atmospheric and just hhhhh so the title is decoy and lethal poison, and the whole song has this feeling of poison crawling deeper, something feverish, but it ends with... something hopeful, and i’m a sucker for that.

Monster is dying to eat you - sasakure.UK this one has great atmosphere, again great source of writing inspiration. i like how the lyrics use repetition and then break away from it, it’s not “can’t help it” anymore and hhhh the twist of there being no magic, it’s a good structure !!

maboroshi sweetheart - beacons i’m... this one me and bestie call “the official last song of the night”, because yea perfect song to cool down with. i get so painfully nostalgic over the scenery in the mv. and it’s super catchy in a mellow way. and the damn lyrics. the bullets still lodged in the wounds, and ready to come after you now, too - i don’t know if it’s about trauma or something else but it makes me feel things. ahhhh damn.
