Saying Something Stupid Like "I Love You"
Tumblr media
Simeon decides to send his beloved a long-awaited confession of his feelings. Unfortunately, he's never been good with technology.
SIMEON x gn!Reader 2.6k Words | SFW | Angst with a Happy Ending | Misunderstandings Content Warnings: Mentions of drinking/getting drunk. A/N: This was my contribution to the Simeon 2023 Birthday Collab (original submission post and AO3 link).
Tumblr media
Simeon groaned in frustration and tossed another crumpled paper into the waste basket under his desk. Despite being a famous writer, he spent the past hour struggling to write a simple, coherent letter confessing his feelings to you.
There was a special event taking place in the Devildom soon, and he was struck by inspiration to confess his feelings - finally, after admiring them in silence for so long - and hope they would accept his offer to be his date. The eager anticipation resulted in dozens of abandoned letters in his trash filled with mistakes: numerous instances of misspelling your name or his own; shaky penmanship that left parts of the letter completely illegible; and at times he pressed so hard on the paper that the pen tip poked through.
Simeon glanced warily at the computer pushed back against the edge of his desk. He was horrible with those contraptions, but spellchecker was such a handy tool that it made it worthwhile to type up drafts of his TSL work. He wanted a more personal touch for his invitation to you and chose a handwritten letter instead. Unfortunately, he was spiraling into frustration and wanted the weight of his confession off his shoulders.
With some reluctance, he reached across the desk and pulled the keyboard closer. His fingers flew across the keys, and before he knew it, he had typed his invitation to you - complete with his confession of his feelings for you too - and read it over twice for spelling errors.
Satisfied, he opened up the Dmail app and attached his letter to a blank email. He tapped quickly on his contacts and added your email address. The screen froze for a moment while the attachment finished uploading. When he hit “Send,” he smiled in satisfaction. He decided he would cook for Luke and Solomon tonight; he was in the mood to celebrate. He shut off his computer (with only minor difficulty) and walked to the kitchen with a spring in his step.

CHAT: The Demon Brothers (7)
Levi: WTF is this?
Satan: What’s wrong?
Levi: Have you checked your Dmail lately? Simeon sent something sooo cringey to all of us!
Satan: Let me take a look.
Beelzebub: I get the feeling this wasn’t meant for me, but I’ll go to the festival with him if he wants. The food is going to be amazing.
Belphegor: I have a feeling this email definitely wasn’t meant for you.
Satan: I agree. Did he send this to all of us by accident?
Levi: LMAO!!!! He’s such a noob with technology!
Asmo: Aw, I never knew Simeon had such a sweet side. I’m totally jealous, I would swoon if one of my admirers sent me a love letter like this!
Mammon: Wanna bet who this was meant for? Oh, I bet he’d pay us whatever we want to keep it secret!
Asmo: Ugh! Way to ruin the romance!
Lucifer: Enough. I will call Simeon and speak to him about this. In the meantime, DO NOT mention this to anyone.
Belphegor: Any ideas who this was really meant for?
Asmo: I’m really curious about that too!
Mammon: Who cares! This is perfect blackmail material!
Satan: I think I know who it’s for.
Levi: Huh? How’d you figure that out?
Satan: We know who he sent it to and it was obviously a mistake. That’s all I’ll say.
Beelzebub: It’s their turn to cook dinner tonight. I’m on my way to the kitchen to see if it’s ready. Should I ask if they got it too?
Mammon: Huh? What about them?
Lucifer: SILENCE. ALL OF YOU.

Simeon drummed his finger tips against his knee while he read the same page of his book for the sixth time. He made a light lunch for him and Luke - Solomon was busy elsewhere today - and sat in his favorite chair to distract himself. The weight of the DDD in his pocket burned heavily against his leg and the Devildom’s newest bestselling novel couldn’t keep his mind off his confession to you.
An hour ago he felt elated that the feelings he tried to suppress were finally out in the open, but now a new type of worry plagued him: uncertainty. Any angel of his age and status would be familiar with regret - arguably, he’d had more than his fair share compared to most - but exploring these new and wonderful feelings made him feel vulnerable in a way he hadn’t felt in a very long time.
He jumped in his seat when the DDD started to chime with an incoming phone call. He scrambled to keep the book in his lap from tumbling to the floor. He reached into his pocket, barely conscious that he was holding his breath. Simeon’s eyebrows shot up curiously when he saw Lucifer’s name flash across the screen. It wasn’t the phone call he expected, but he always felt a warm feeling when Lucifer took the initiative and reached out to talk to him first despite their rocky past together.
Simeon tapped the screen and held the phone to his ear. “Good afternoon, Lucifer,” he said with a smile. “I hope you’re doing well.”
There was a pause, the sound of shuffling on the other end of the call. “Yes, good afternoon, Simeon,” Lucifer replied. Another pause. “Have any of my brothers contacted you?”
Simeon ran his finger along the spine of his book. “No, although now that you mention it, some of them sent me some random emoji messages. I assumed they were sent by accident, I know I’ve done the same in the past. Why do you ask?”
Lucifer cleared his throat. “I’ll be blunt. I know about the email you sent earlier today. More accurately, we all do.”
Simeon’s throat suddenly ran dry and he coughed. Clearly he had misheard. “I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re—“
“The email you attempted to send earlier to a specific individual,” Lucifer interrupted, “was sent to me and my brothers which I assume was a technical error on your part.” He chuckled dryly. “While your letter was very flattering, I realized quickly it wasn’t meant for my eyes and I wanted to make sure you were aware.”
It was difficult for Simeon to think clearly with the muffled roar in his ears. His face burned with embarrassment and his hands felt clammy. He glared at the computer on the table across the room as though it had done this terrible misdeed to him on purpose.
“I’m sorry,” he muttered dejectedly. He wanted to be angry, but all Simeon really felt was defeat. How had his simple plan gone so wrong? “I appreciate you telling me, and if you and the others could keep this to yourselves, that would be for the best. I’ll have to…figure this out,” he said slowly. He needed time to process this unexpected turn of events.
“I can’t guarantee that they won’t attempt to tease you about this, but I have already warned them about the consequences should they do anything beyond that. But Simeon, I think—“ Lucifer paused, and then sighed. “Nevermind. Take care, and please let me know if any of my idiot brothers bother you.”
When the call disconnected, Simeon let the phone slip between his fingers and fall to the plush carpet at his feet. He buried his face in his hands and shook his head. Time seemed to freeze and Simeon couldn’t focus on anything but the burning waves of embarrassment that rippled through him every time he thought about his letter to you. The intimate praise and heartfelt declarations he made felt almost scandalous now that he knew Lucifer and his brothers were aware of the contents.
Despite his awkward handling of technology, his fingers flowed freely against the keys of the keyboard as easily as if they were those of a piano, the deepest wishes of his heart spilling into a digital void and he hoped his words echoed true once they reached their destination. It was difficult not to succumb to regret and doubt now that his plea for your affections had failed; his trials as an angel seemed to pale in comparison to the despair he felt now, as though once again fate had tempted him with something just beyond his reach.
The sound of a door opening nearby jolted Simeon out of his daze. He wiped the dampness from his eyes and stood up hastily, wiping his hands on his slacks and looking around his dimly lit room to make sure nothing was out of place. He bent over and picked up the forgotten DDD on the floor by his feet, and he grimaced when he saw missed notifications flash on the screen. He stuffed the device into his pocket with more force than necessary when a familiar knock rattled his bedroom door.
“We’re back!” Luke beamed at him when he opened his door and poked his head inside. “I picked up ingredients for devil-spiced chili tonight, but you might want to hurry because—“ Luke visibly flinched at the sound of pots and pans rattling in the kitchen. “Solomon said he always wanted to try making it.”
Simeon gave Luke a reassuring ruffle of his hair and followed the younger angel to the kitchen, his personal angst temporarily forgotten as he rushed to salvage their dinner.
Tumblr media
Sun peeked through the gap of his curtains and Simeon woke with a groan. He buried his head into his pillow and tried to go back to sleep, but the faint throbbing in his temples promised a lingering headache he would regret later on.
He stayed up later than usual the night before, staring into the fireplace with a frown while he sipped Demonus and prayed the fiery sweet taste would help dull the pain in his heart. After he finished his first glass, he got up with a sigh and went into the sitting room to retrieve the bottle. Solomon was reading on the sofa and raised his eyebrow when he saw Simeon’s stormy expression.
“Rough night?” the sorcerer asked with a teasing smile.
“You have no idea,” Simeon grumbled under his breath when he retreated back to the dark solace of his bedroom. He poured more dark amber liquid in his glass and embraced the drunken haze that fell over him like a veil.
Simeon sat up and winced at the stiffness in his neck and shoulders. At some point during the night he tried to undress himself for bed but failed miserably; his shirt was half-unbuttoned and wrinkled, and one of his socks was missing. He was still wearing his slacks but the belt was unbuckled and loose around his waist.
Simeon swung his legs over the side of his bed and rubbed the remnants of sleep from his eyes. The shameful events from the day before came crashing down on him when he heard the familiar ping of his DDD. The sound was muffled, and Simeon started patting his bed trying to find it. He stood up on unsteady legs and glared at the tangled mess of blankets. He grabbed his duvet and threw it behind him, but the device was nowhere to be seen.
“Technology is overrated,” he grumbled to himself. He picked up each of his pillows and tossed them aside. Still no DDD. “It’s probably one of Lucifer’s brothers teasing me,” he guessed bitterly. He grabbed hold of his sheets and raised them with a sharp snap. “I should just get rid of the cursed thing.”
He finally heard a dull thud on the carpet. He glanced down and saw the familiar shape of his DDD hit the floor and bounce underneath the bed. It had stopped pinging with new notifications but morbid curiosity and sheer defiance motivated Simeon to kneel down and reach for it anyway; perhaps destroying it later would make him feel better.
It had rolled just out of reach and he flattened himself against the carpet while he stretched his hand towards it. His fingers brushed the smooth surface but he swore when a loud knock on his bedroom startled him and caused him to jerk suddenly. His head hit the bed frame and he accidentally knocked the DDD further out of reach.
Simeon was frustrated and muttering angrily by the time he pulled himself out from under the bed and stalked across the room. He practically ripped the door open, but the curse on the tip of his tongue died in his throat when he saw your concerned face staring back at him.
You glanced at him nervously, eyes darting between his rumpled clothing and the room behind him where his bedding was scattered all over the floor. “Is this a bad time? I wanted to talk to you but I can come back later.”
Simeon acknowledged your generous opportunity to escape for what it was, but he supposed he had to face his faults sooner or later. He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. You walked past him when he moved aside, and he closed the door so he could suffer his continued humiliation in private.
“I tried to call you but you didn’t answer,” you said apologetically.
“I dropped my phone,” was his response, and he realized how silly it sounded a moment too late. “I’m not the best company today,” he admitted while he tried to smooth down the wrinkles of his shirt. He was suddenly very aware of his poor appearance and he could only imagine what you must think of him, seeing him in such a haphazard state.
Simeon froze when he felt your fingers brush against his face. When had he started crying? He couldn’t make out the expression on your tear-blurred face.
“Is this about your letter?” you asked quietly. You cupped his cheeks in your hands and he knew they must’ve felt his skin grow hot when he blushed.
Simeon bit his lip bashfully. He covered your hands beneath his own, enjoying the feeling of your fingers nearly entwined with his. “Who told you?” he whispered thickly around the lump in his throat.
“Lucifer sent it to me last night,” you admitted, “but I wanted to give you my response in person.”
Simeon felt the warmth of your body against his own when you leaned against him, a comforting presence that helped keep him steady on his feet. He braced himself for the worst and nodded that he was listening.
You couldn’t help but smile sadly at the look of anxious anticipation on Simeon’s face. “I don’t like the feeling that I make you nervous,” you said. You pulled their hands away from Simeon’s tear-stained cheeks and wrapped your arms around his waist instead.
Simeon leaned forward and rested his forehead against yours. “I find myself lost, wandering in unfamiliar territory when it comes to my feelings for you,” he sighed, lips grazing your skin. He answered your hug with his own, his limbs growing heavy with exhaustion as he gave up trying to wear a mask of brave indifference.
You pulled back enough to catch his gaze with your own. “I love you,” you said with a smile that started shy and soft, but grew wide and radiant when Simeon blinked at you in surprise. Simeon’s only response was a sob that quickly morphed into relieved and delighted laughter. His hold on you tightened and you held each other in his warm, sunlit room.
In a moment of clarity, Simeon pondered that perhaps technology wasn’t so bad after all.

Tumblr media
Rainy day. Very relaxing to you, you’d say. You always loved it when it rained. Not when it thunders though that’s for sure. You lie down on your bed staring up onto the ceiling, getting lost in your thoughts. But those thoughts are soon cut off when you hear the front door open. You quickly rush out of bed and run out of your bedroom. You make it out and spot Heeseung putting his stuff up, after coming back from work. Quietly, you walked up to him from behind and wrapped your arms around his waist.
“Baby!” He says softly. Getting out of your grasp. To turn around and pull you into a hug. “I miss you..” he said.
“I miss you too..” you said. Heeseung noticed your slight frown on your face. “Hey what’s wrong..?” He asked. You look up at heeseung nodding your head.. “yeah I’m fine why..?” You were confused a bit.
“You face says otherwise my love” Fuck..busted. “Baby it’s nothing promised.” You hope you could get Heeseung to believe you.
“No..baby just tell me..” Heeseung was begging at this point. Wanting to get the truth out. But you won’t let your guard down. Not even if it’s heeseung. You always were never really good at expressing yourself. Especially with words.
“Fine I’m just not feeling my very best..” What do you mean by that? Heeseung was now confused. “What are you saying baby?” He asked. You looked up at and spoke. “It’s just sometimes I think I’m not perfect enough for you…” silence filled the room shortly afterwards. “Like there’s many other women who want to be with you but you chose me.. I’m not as pretty as them..” You put your head down. Heeseung didn’t say anything for a short while. You were starting to get nervous. ‘Please say something..’ shit..now you're over thinking. You were so lost in your thoughts, your thoughts were cut off by heeseung pulling you into a hug. You wanted to cry, but you didn’t. Heeseung still didn’t say anything, since you still weren’t looking at him. He grabbed your jaw with his hand, making you look up at him.
He gets closer kissing your lips, His soft sweet lips. You slightly gasp, but return the kiss back..but it doesn’t last very long, before heeseung pulls away and hugs you even tighter. “Baby, you’re wrong..even if other women want me. It’s not how much I want you.” He finally spoke up. “You’re the most amazing person I’ve ever met, sweetheart. And not one person can change that thought..not even you..my love” he sighed before continuing, “I don’t know what made you think that, it makes me sad when you think negatively about yourself because in my eyes you’re perfect. You’re my everything” Well, here are the tears now. Heeseung started patting your back, trying to calm you down.. You don’t say anything, only focusing on calming down.
“Thank you..” you say quietly..heeseung smiles, before grabbing your hand and taking you towards your bedroom. He opens the door and drags you to the bed. He gets on first and pulls you into his arms, cuddling you.
“We can stay like this for the rest of the night, cuddle,” he said.
“Yeah..I’d like that..” and so you did.

Pantalone x Shy! Reader
Notes: After this was wasting away in my drafts for over a month, I finally got to post this. Enjoy, everyone!
Masterlist
Out of all the treasures in Teyvat that the Tsaritsa could have gifted him, Pantalone truly meant it when he said that he struck gold with you. You were a very polite lady in Her Majesty’s court, if not a little shy at first. In fact, you were very distant during the first few months of your marriage. However, he knew that would change with time the longer you spent around him. Since he was so generous in deciding to help coax you out of your shell, he took the initiative and invited you to work with him one day.
You were in the bedroom when he approached you, setting his glasses on the nightstand and joining you under the covers. You kept to your side of the bed, so as not to infringe upon his personal space. However, he gently wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you closer to him. “If you don’t mind, I would like to bring you with me to Zapolyarny Palace tomorrow while I work. Of course, only if you wish to join me.” He offered, his voice now lacking the condescending tone you heard him use with his subordinates. Not wanting to possibly anger him, you answered him. “Of course, husband.” You replied. He rolled you over to face him and gently tilted your chin up to where you were looking at him. Pantalone then hummed softly to himself before he spoke. “Why is it that you shy away from my touch whenever I give it? You’re always so apprehensive when you’re around me.” He asked. Your eyes widened slightly, before you looked to the side in embarrassment. “It’s because you’re very intimidating. You scare me a little, and I don’t know why you would want to be around me, anyway. I’m not the most social person, and I know that you tend to take advantage of any opportunity to benefit off of most others, so I’m worried about what you might do to me if I don’t do everything you say.” You confessed, causing him to frown slightly. “Know this, I will never take advantage of you in any way, shape, or form. The Tsaritsa trusted me enough to let me marry you, and she has never made a bad decision in terms of marriages. I will never do anything to you that would hurt you or make you lose trust in me, I promise you that.” He reassured you, leaning closer to you and pressing his lips against your forehead. “However, we’ll take things slow, and I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want to do.” He paused. “Which brings me back to the whole work thing. I still would like it if you could accompany me to the Palace tomorrow. It would certainly make work much less dull. But if not tomorrow, then perhaps next week?” He offered. You took a deep breath, looking up at your husband as you spoke. “I’ll go with you tomorrow. Besides, it’s been a while since I last saw the Palace.” You replied, pulling away from him and looking at him. “Then I suppose we should get some sleep. We’ll be getting up early tomorrow.” He mumbled, watching as you rolled over again and closed your eyes. Pantalone stayed awake for a few more minutes until your breathing had slowed and you were peacefully asleep, before closing his eyes and allowing himself to drift off to sleep.
The next day, Pantalone gently shook you awake, telling you to get up. You sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep from your eyes, looking at him as you nodded. “Come on, I’ll help you pick something out to wear if you’d like.” He offered. You looked at him hesitantly, before nodding softly. He looked at the dresses you’d picked out, choosing the one that was your favorite color. He then walked to the vanity and picked out the necklace that he saw you wear the most, before picking out a matching pair of shoes and gloves. “Alright, do you like the things I chose?” He asked, receiving a nod from you in response. “I’ll leave you to change then. I’ll be waiting outside, so call me if you need me.” He said, leaving and shutting the door behind him. You quickly put on the dress and shoes, before picking up the necklace and trying to clasp it. You struggled with the clasp for a few minutes before giving up and calling for your husband. “Pantalone, would you come in here for a minute?” You called, watching as the door opened and he stepped into the room. “What is it?” He asked, before seeing that you were struggling to clasp the necklace. He walked behind you and fastened the chain around your neck, pulling away from you after he had done so. Pantalone then took one of your gloved hands into his own and led you down the stairs and out the door to the mansion.
When the two of you arrived at Zapolyarny Palace, Pantalone wrapped an arm around your waist, guiding you down the maze of corridors that led to his office. As the two of you walked, you looked around you at the ornate designs on the walls and windows. You and Pantalone stopped at an office door and you watched as he fished a key out of the confines of his shirt, unlocking the door. He led you inside and sat at his desk, watching as you walked to the chair that was closest to him, right beside his desk. “If you get bored at any point, please do tell me.” He said, taking one of the papers from the pile on his desk and looking over it. He eventually got his pen and signed it with his signature, setting it to the side and grabbing another. You had brought a few books with you, and grabbed one of them, knowing that this would be a long day.
About an hour later, two people walked into the room and stood in front of Pantalone’s desk, displeased looks on their faces. “Regrator, would you mind explaining to this imbecile that I’m not allowing him to accompany me to Sumeru because he will destroy every ruin machine within a ten mile radius of us?” The older looking of the two asked. He had mint blue hair and a mask that covered his face, his body clad in the same white cloak that both your husband and the man beside him wore. “I won’t do that, and you know it. You just want me to stay out of the way because you’re hiding something.” The other man shot back. This one had ginger hair and blue eyes. A red mask sat on the side of his head as he spoke, bickering with the other man in front of your husband. After about two more minutes, Pantalone took a deep breath and sighed deeply, glancing at you apologetically before slamming his hands down on his desk as he spoke. “If you both don’t shut your mouths, I’m going to cut your funding for the next month! I don’t care what you decide, but Eleventh, it is ultimately The Doctor’s decision on whether you’re allowed to go to Sumeru with him or not.” He threatened, his voice holding a hint of malice. You jumped when he spoke, a soft squeak leaving you as you held up your book as a sort of self defense. Unfortunately, that brought their attention to you, both Harbingers staring you down. Dottore spoke first. “Who’s this lovely lady, Regrator?” He asked, striding over to you and taking your hand into his. He kissed the back of your hand and then let it fall back to your side. Suddenly, the floor was much more interesting than the man in front of you as you sat back down in your chair. Pantalone cleared his throat and glared at them before reluctantly answering them. “That is my wife, and this,” he said, gesturing to the two of them, “is a waste of my time. I have paperwork to do, and your petty argument isn’t helping me focus. Now get out and if you can’t stop, go bother The Jester, instead.” he grumbled, all but forcing them out the door and closing it behind them. He then cast a worried gaze at you. “Are you alright?” he asked, walking up to you and gently tugging you to your feet. you nodded, deciding to finally reciprocate his gestures and lean against him. “The loud noise startled me, and I was a bit surprised to see you so angry, but it’s nothing I can’t handle.” you giggled softly, resting a hand against his chest as you looked up at him. Pantalone all but picked you up and carried you to his desk chair and sat down with you in his lap, your face turning red as you felt his arms wrap around your waist, his face hidden in your neck as he set his glasses on the desk. You were tense for a few seconds, but eventually relaxed in his embrace and let him hold you. “I’ll be done with this paperwork in a little while, and then we can go home.” He mumbled into your hair, before picking up his glasses and his pen. “What are the documents even about?” You asked, leaning back against his chest and kicking your legs out. “They’re mainly about the withdrawals and deposits that the Northland Bank is getting from each of us Harbingers. If you’re curious, then I’ll tell you that Dottore and Childe are the two that make withdrawals the most out of the eleven of us. They rarely pay them back in full, too.” He huffed slightly, putting his glasses back on as he started to write. “I must say, I think I prefer working in the office whenever you’re here with me. It helps me focus on my work instead of worrying about you.” He said, briefly looking down at you. You looked up and met his gaze with your own, reaching up and gently placing your hand against his cheek. Pantalone placed his hand over yours and leaned into your touch. “Then again, I suppose you can be a bit distracting, a sight for sore eyes.” he muttered. “But enough of that, I still have work to do, no matter how lovely it would be if I could only focus on you,” he continued, his embrace growing slightly more lax than before as he leaned down to where he was right beside your ear. “Do me a favor and stay here, I like being close to you like this.” he whispered, huffing in amusement when your face turned red and you nodded. Deciding to not further delay his work, Pantalone picked up his pen and started to read over the documents on his desk, occasionally explaining the purpose of some of them to you. You leaned against him and got comfortable, knowing that this day would be quite a long one, but you were ok with that. Your eyelids got heavier the more that you sat there in his lap, and you fought sleep as best you could. However, you couldn’t help gently tugging on your husband’s sleeve to get his attention. He seemed to know immediately what was going on, because he laughed softly before speaking. “You may rest easy, I’ll wake you when it’s time for us to leave.” he reassured you, smiling down at you as you spoke. “Thank you, I love you.” you mumbled drowsily. Pantalone’s hand stilled while in the middle of signing off on a document, but he set it down after a minute or two and looked down at you. “Do you mean it?” he asked, his voice lacking that sort of confident air he usually had. He was nervous. “Mhm, you’re constantly looking out for me, and you still keep me around even when I’ve been so hesitant to be around you since the start of our marriage. Of course I do.” you said, your sleepy confession being the last thing you said before looking up at him. “Anything else before I drift off?” you asked, expecting him to shake his head. Instead, he leaned forward and caught your lips in a gentle kiss, pulling away much too soon for your liking, but you weren’t about to complain. You leaned into the kiss, reciprocating it with equal tenderness before chasing his lips slightly when he pulled away. “Now then, you best take the chance to sleep while you have it, things get chaotic around lunch time.” he mused, causing you to nod. Oh, what a long day it would be, indeed.
At least you got to spend it with him.

Author's notes: @synthetickitsune I swear I had the entire draft ready before you posted yours, but I feel like we have one shared brain cell for some things LOL
Tumblr media
The first thing you took note of upon entering the club was that the music was better than you expected from the mediocre and obscure premise. This type of music was not something you usually heard in dancing places – it was more on the heavy side, and it gave off the vibe of 80’s goths and black platform heels adorned with spikes. Not your regular music choice, but you couldn’t say that you were disappointed.
It was supposed to be just a few hours of relax. You felt a bit distraught recently, with books and other home entertainments feeling like you’re starting to drown in a routine. You needed a variety, even though your friends group consisted mostly of people who didn’t care for parties, and you yourself had no idea as to what people are supposed to do at one. Even the club was something you found online and not through a recommendation. You were shamelessly aware that you chose it just because the menu appeared cheaper than in others, and they would let ladies in for free if they wore heels. A bit sexist in your opinion, but free entry was free entry after all.
The place wasn’t too crowded, but the spots by the bar were all busy, and with the customers gathered around – a lot of them for such an early hour – you quickly came to a conclusion that you’d rather sit down somewhere else and look around to see if there’s anything for you to do.
You hated dancing.
It’s not that it was impossible to sway from one side to the other on repeat. But you were awfully aware how lame it must have looked while done by someone who didn’t represent excess of physical appeal, and so, since it didn’t bring you any joy either, you avoided it at all costs. For the same reason, the dancing floor was definitely not an interesting place to look at. And besides, everyone was still too sober for their dancing skills to become entertaining.
The spot you found, a bar chair by a tall, round table with the top made of glass, was a good lookout point. A row of tables like such was on a not so tall podium along the wall, so the heads of the people were a bit below and you could see the entire ground floor of the club very well. Guests were still coming in.
There was a part of the club, though, that, although in the range of your sight, didn’t appear reachable at all – the upper floor. A balcony with glass balustrade shined above the heads of all people gathered in the dancing floor. The VIP zone.
Your eyes, bored of looking down, traveled up automatically, trying to have a look at anyone there. You suspected that the VIP zone of such an average place was occupied by college students and corporates going at party nights. In fact, the only person that was looking out the balustrade at the moment, with his eyes fixated somewhere by the bar, was a tall and well-built boy who could as well be a basketball player, dressed in a simple t-shirt and sweatpants. You snorted quietly, realizing that in any of the books you read, he would be a multimillionaire, spotting an average girl in the crowd below, falling in love at the first sight…
“Whatcha looking at?”
You jumped and almost fell off your chair at the voice that sounded out next to you.
Your eyes shot to the person who was currently sitting in the chair next to yours, watching you with a polite, non-intrusive smile. Although the fact you didn’t notice him join in freaked you out, he didn’t appear ill-intended. Yet, you didn’t miss a small smirk in the corner of his lip at the sudden reaction that you graced his question with.
“Oh… Nothing, really, just people” you answered, composing yourself. A small part of you wanted to carry on some sort of conversation just to not stay completely alienated for the rest of the night. But the remaining part of you had no idea, how. “How’s your evening?” you asked out of no better choice.
The man leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table, and smiled widely, acknowledging that you’re not against the interaction.
“A bit boring, to be honest. I came here with some friends, but they all already busied themselves with stuff. What about you? Who did you come with?”
His voice was tender and careful, and his face looked very soft. You took a moment to acknowledge a simple baseball cap on his head, pulled on a bit too low so that he had to tilt his head backwards to see what’s on his eye level. He also wore a black, plain bomber jacket that made you think he’s a part of some college team – but there were no logos or other signs anywhere that would hint to his affiliation. In fact, you quickly came to the conclusion that it’s just his fashion choice.
“I actually came here alone” you blabbered without a second thought. “I’m not really a party person, to be honest…”
“Oh. I can tell.”
“Huh?”
Should you feel offended? Your face must have betrayed the uncertainty, because the man’s eyes widened and he visibly panicked at the social mistake.
“No, wait, sorry. It’s just that… if a stranger asks you about who you came with, even if you come alone, you should lie. It’s dangerous to let people know that.” he elaborated.
That actually made sense, you realized. Heck, you must have really had no self-preservation skills if you didn’t think of that before.
“Oh… I, um, thank you? For letting me know?” You scratched your head awkwardly.
He pressed his lips together – you took note of how his cheeks looked sort of cute and squishable when he did that – and smoothly hopped off the seat.
“I think it’s the time for me. Thank you for the talk.” He nodded his head politely and turned around, disappearing in the crowd before you could react appropriately.
You let out a defeated sigh. You came to this party to have a relaxing evening, but you must have messed up your possibly only chance to have a conversation with someone sober and not a creep. People were starting to slowly get drunk and you had a feeling that anytime soon, the only people coming up for a talk would be drunk college boys that the club was at this time of the year full of.
You glanced hopefully up at the glass balustrade of the VIP zone, but this time there was no one in sight.
It must have been around midnight when you looked at yourself in the club’s bathroom mirror, taking note of the tiredness heaving down your features. You were bored out of your mind, the music was echoing in your skull way too loud at this point, and the little alcohol you had in the meantime only made you a bit distraught rather than relaxed. Those were signs that it was definitely the time to go home.
You wrapped your trench coat around yourself as you left the building and went into the dark street. Cold wind hit your ankles, clad in nothing but a thin layer of stockings that you wore underneath the dress.
You stood nearby the main entrance, reaching out to your phone. You still contemplated whether to order a ride or to seek a cheaper alternative, seeing as the travel by feet must have not been too far from there, and maybe even you could even catch the night bus?
“Hi, are you alone?”
You whipped your head to where the voice was coming from, way too close for your liking.
A man was approaching you at a pace you weren’t sure if you should be comfortable with. His eyes were shining from the amount of alcohol consumed. He swayed to the sides ever so slightly as he walked.
It took you a solid moment to realize you’ve seen him once before – on the balustrade. He must have been on his way home as well.
“Um… I’m going home” you replied a bit shakily when he approached you. With how much taller than you he was, he didn’t have to try hard to hover above you in a hopefully unwittingly threatening posture.
“Will you be okay? I can get you a ride” he spoke sluggishly.
You couldn’t tell just how wary of him you should be; although he didn’t seem ingenuine and it was just the alcohol that made him appear creepy, you reminded yourself that it’s still a stranger. You glanced towards the club – the entry was a bit too far for your liking, but unless he became physical, you should be able to get back and ask for someone to help you out, was he to become too pushy.
“Please let me get you home” he suddenly spoke, sensing your unease. “I won’t bite you, I promise” he added. “I’ve already had enough for today, they don’t taste any good when I’m this drunk” he kept on blabbering and you lifted your eyebrow at the peculiarity of his statement.
“Chanyeol? What the hell are you doing here?”
The two of you turned around to look at the man coming from the club. The silhouette was too dark with the lights in the background, so you couldn’t make out his features well.
“Nothing” the man answered, shaking his head. “I just met this girl and she’s alone and I told her I won’t bite her but I think she’s scared of me” he whined.
Only when the newcomer came close enough, you realized that he also is not an unfamiliar face. The baseball cap betrayed him even before his squishy cheeks did. He spared you a glance and tilted his head to the side, apparently also acknowledging that you’re not a complete stranger. His eyes fell on his friend again.
“Aish, how would you get her home when you’re this drunk? Come and join the rest, we’ll be going home soon.”
“Then you take her home. She’s alone, Baekhyun, girls shouldn’t be alone. What if someone bites her when she’s alone?”
You frowned deeply, having no idea about what was all this weird conversation about. The man – Baekhyun – glanced at you once every few seconds, as though checking your reactions, and he was clearly displeased with the way things were going. He finally sighed.
“You talk too much, Yeol. Come on, let’s go.”
The man named Chanyeol huffed, but finally gave up and started moving back towards the entrance.
Baekhyun stayed behind, only making sure that his friend has gone in the right direction, and then looked at you with his face unreadable.
“Sorry for that. He didn’t mean anything bad, he just doesn’t control his tongue when he’s drunk.”
“Yeah… I could tell… Sorry.”
He lifted his eyebrow.
“Don’t say sorry when you haven’t done anything bad.”
“Oh. Right.”
“Are you sure it’s just parties that you’re not into? It looks like you don’t have much human interaction at all” he commented with a smirk. You laughed awkwardly.
“I usually handle it better, really. Not like, very good, but I swear I’m not an alien.”
He laughed warmly.
“Thank God, I was starting to consider giving you a ride too, but what if I had to get you back on another planet? Don’t have enough gas for that” he joked. It was quite lame of a joke, but you couldn’t help but utter a small laugh. After a bit of alcohol and at this hour, it was hard not to go alone with the lame sense of humor.
“Was it your way of offering a ride?” you dared to ask.
Baekhyun grinned.
“Maybe. Would you like?”
“I…” You bit on your lip, suddenly realizing that the offer had probably more to it than a mere act of kindness. “…don’t want to give you hope for something I can’t give” you stated carefully.
The man’s smile fell.
“Don’t ever worry about things like that. It’s not your problem if someone gets hope for something you never offered yourself. I just felt like giving you a ride, you don’t need to think of ways to return a favor or anything.” He appeared satisfied with his speech, and hid hands in the pockets of his jacket, soft and reassuring smile returning to his face.
You released the breath you didn’t realize you were holding, a relief washing over you and a smile appearing on your own face as well.
“That’s… nice” you only answered. “In this case, I’d love to get home with you. I… I mean-” you realized your words were a bit ambiguous. “…You know what I mean.”
Baekhyun only laughed warmly.
“I know, I know. Come on, I parked nearby.” He pulled car keys out of his pocket and swung them in the air. “But, by the way, don’t just accept rides from strangers. It’s dangerous.”
Baekhyun’s car was more comfortable than the public transport you were used to, and also sitting in the front felt way nicer than the backseats of a taxi. The music was calmer and quieter than in the club, and although it also wasn’t the genre you were used to, it almost lulled you to sleep as the two of you sat in a pleasant silence for about half of the ride.
“Won’t your friends get worried that you didn’t come back to them?” you eventually spoke, trying to start a conversation. Your time together appeared to be limited, and you didn’t want to waste a chance to get to know the man better.
“I shot them a message” Baekhyun replied with his gaze fixated on the changing lights and the cars in the intersection. “I wasn’t drinking because I was supposed to be their ride but they also met some people at the party, so they’ll be fine” he elaborated.
“Ah, I see. Well. I’m lucky that you were supposed to be the ride anyway” you shrugged. Baekhyun smiled at that but didn’t continue the conversation.
You were still a few minutes away from your apartment and you really, really didn’t want the ride to end so quickly. Even silence in Baekhyun’s presence was just too comfortable. How was it possible that you felt so much ease with a man you barely met? Maybe it was because his comments regarding your safety seemed to be genuine, and you appreciated them. Maybe they were just his way of getting your trust, but you just didn’t seem to mind.
There were still other questions you could use to get him to talk to you.
“I just recalled, what were those things your friend was talking about? I know he was drunk, but he mentioned biting like two or three times. What’s up with that?”
Baekhyun’s eyes narrowed slightly. Slight tension in his jaw didn’t pass your attention either.
“Uh…” He shrugged after a moment of thought. “Consider it an inside joke in our group of friends.”
“An inside joke?” You genuinely laughed. “Maybe you’re the aliens? What if your car gets me on the Moon instead of home?”
The man laughed awkwardly.
“Well, we’re peculiar in our own ways. But I promise the car is earthly” he assured with a grin.
You knew the area pretty well and it didn’t take long before you arrived at your address, Baekhyun’s car coming to a stop almost opposite of the building entry. The man turned the engine off and got up, opening the door for you before you even prepared yourself to leave the vehicle. You got out hurriedly and quickly straightened your clothes.
“You good? You got everything?” he asked, glancing at the seat to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything. You nodded.
“Thank you. Really.”
“You’re welcome.” His voice was tender and calm, but you had a feeling that the unspoken question is there.
You cleared your throat.
“Um… Would you… like to come upstairs?”
“Hm?”
Because of what he said before, you were certain he did not want to make any assumptions or take things for granted. Yet, you didn’t want to leave him in the dark, and you were positive that for his honesty, he deserved some transparency from your side as well.
“Just…”
Yet, were you ready to offer more than you initially planned? What was there to lose, after all?
But how would you feel if he rejected you, or if you didn’t meet the expectations – that was so not like you to offer such a thing, and you never wanted to have short-term partners to begin with.
But Baekhyun clearly was a gentleman, and if he was to reject you, it would have to be out of care and not because you disappointed him. Or at least you desperately wanted to believe so.
And besides, why would he reject you if he went out of his way to give you a ride home? Even if he was mature enough not to expect anything, it’s not like he would offer it to someone who didn’t spike at least an ounce of his interest.
“[F/n]?”
You jumped at the sound of your name; you must have drowned in your thoughts instead of answering the question.
“Oh. Sorry. I um… It’s not a situation I’m usually in. But I just… don’t want this evening to end this fast.”
“You know you don’t owe me anything, right?” He announced calmly, but there was some shade of threat in the way he said it, as if there was something urging him to give you the last chance to take it back and part your ways.
“I know. That’s why I don’t promise anything. But I want to try. You’re… fun to be around.”
At that, his face instantly lightened, and he chuckled softly.
“Thank you. You’re fun to be around, too.”
The night was chilly, and so you welcomed with gratitude the warmth that surrounded you the moment you entered your apartment. The place was rather decent as for one person inhabiting it, and you rented it at a rather cheap price from an elderly lady who at some age decided to move in with her family. Although you were allowed to refurnish it, you actually enjoyed the old style of creaking floor and black-and-white pictures on the walls covered in an old wallpaper. Even the old TV remained in its place, although it wasn’t catching the signal anymore. Baekhyun looked around curiously.
“You live here alone?” he asked.
“Yeah. But it’s not mine, I’m renting for another few years” you elaborated while taking off your coat and shoes, motioning for Baekhyun to do the same. “I’d like to buy my own but it’s still a while before I can even afford a mortgage.” The man nodded slowly in acknowledgment, following you cautiously as you soon entered the kitchen, turning on all the small lights on the way, making sure that the whole apartment was at least partially lit. “Bathroom is over there if you need” you briefly waved in the right doors’ direction. “You want something to eat?”
Baekhyun’s metaphorical ears perked up. He saw you point at the fridge.
“Oh. Maybe later, thank you.”
“Later?” you grinned. “Just how long are you planning to stay in here?” you teased.
“Hm.” He smiled shyly. “As long as you let me” he purred. You were focused on checking the cabinet’s contents for some quick snack when you heard him shift right behind you, hands hovering around your waist, although not touching just yet.
Your breath hitched. A pack of chocolate chip cookies slipped out of your grasp and fell on the counter below.
“Dammit” you mumbled, reaching to pick it up.
When you turned around, Baekhyun was sitting at your small table, elbow resting on the tabletop and chin on his hand in a fairly confident, although charming – in a way – pose.
“You want some?” You asked mindlessly, putting the cookies on the table and sitting on the second chair awkwardly.
“Later, thank you” he repeated; you internally cringed, realizing it made it seem that you didn’t listen to him earlier.
“Want something to drink then? I imagine you must be at least a bit tired after the party” you offered, feeling a bit awkward about eating the cookies all alone and not providing him with any sort of entertainment in the meantime.
“Don’t worry. It’s nice to just rest in the quiet after all that loud music” Baekhyun said with a gentle smile.
“Is that really so? Or do you just avoid midnight snacking?” you teased, trying to at least carry on with a small-talk.
You caught him stare straight in your eyes, and you felt a shiver run down your spine at his unreadable face.
“I actually believe that a good snack is a good snack regardless of the time” he announced in a tone that made you wonder.
He stood up right as you finished your cookie and came up to you. You observed him curiously as he knelt down, slowly finding himself between your parted knees.
His eyes never left yours, watching out for any signs of discomfort or disagreement.
You felt taken aback by his boldness, feeling your face heat up at the unusual closeness, but you definitely weren’t about to refuse.
His hands finally touched your knees, leaning on them for stability. Your dress was riding up a bit, but not enough to show anything yet.
“May I?” His lips hovered over the skin of your thigh where it was already exposed.
You almost caught yourself nodding mindlessly, but the loud pounding of your heart brought you back to reality.
“W-what?” you stuttered.
“Kiss your leg” he specified with a small, warm laugh that both calmed you and embarrassed you even more at once. “May I?”
“Yes” you answered quickly before you could lose control over your voice again.
More serious again, Baekhyun leaned down and pressed a slow, chaste kiss into your heated skin. Then another, a bit higher, but still as if the edge of your dress was a border he wasn’t going to cross. His both hands massaged the outer sides of your knees.
“You’re so nervous” the man noted, at which your face got even redder.
“Well, uh…”
“Do I make you shy?” he teased. You stuttered incoherently in response.
Baekhyun let out a soft laughter, pushing himself up and extending his hand to help you up as well. You followed and fixed your dress in hurry.
“U-uh.”
You awkwardly wavered your hand towards the bedroom’s door, hoping the man gets the hint, knowing that your voice would betray you completely, were you to utter such a bold request.
But he didn’t even look in that direction, his hand reaching to your chin instead and he lifted your face up, placing a small kiss on your cheek.
“Oh. Thank you.”
At that, he laughed even louder.
“Thank you? Really?”
“What else was I supposed to answer…?” you huffed, not sure if he was trying to insult you with the mockery.
“No, no, don’t worry, it was actually quite a cute thing to say” he explained.
“Oh, well…”
His fingers gently brushed your lips, and all the thoughts left your mind as you let him maneuver your face towards his. Warm breath hit your nose as he looked down at you from up close, all small details of his face so sharp and clear, and his glistening eyes fixated on the way your face subtly changed in reaction to his doings.
He tilted his head to the side, smirk present on his soft-looking lips, and you felt as though at that exact moment, he had you right in his grasp – up to the heart of yours beating exactly as he conducted, you thought.
With another peck to your other cheek, he suddenly pulled away.
You swayed, feeling like you’re going to collapse the moment his fingers no longer kept your face in place. You were lightheaded. Baekhyun was proud of himself.
He stepped towards the corridor that led to your bedroom, and this time, it was you who followed.
He crossed the door, glancing over his shoulder as if to make sure you’re not lost on your way.
And right when you thought that at least this small part of your way will be peaceful and almost boring, this one, small thing came to your vision, turning everything upside down.
Right ahead of yourself, behind Baekhyun’s silhouette, on the wall. A mirror, adorned with an antique, golden frame, one you used every day to get ready, one that had been there ever since you remembered, and one that was the last thing in the world you’d expect to surprise you.
You looked closely; your eyes couldn’t be possibly playing tricks. It was just you with all the walls and furnishings that you knew.
But Baekhyun, standing there and glancing at you, did not reflect in that mirror.
You froze in place, staring in your own eyes of the reflection. The man’s smile fell, noting the sudden change of mood. Catching your gaze, he followed it, turning his back to you. His own eyes finally fell on the mirror and he gawked.
“Oh. Oh, wow.”
Without waiting for you to speak any of the thoughts currently hurling in your mind, he slowly walked over to the mirror as if just about as surprised as you were, but with genuine curiosity as well. His hand reached but stopped right before touching the smooth surface, and instead grazed the mirror’s frame, admiring the piece of fine furniture.
You stood in your place, still uncertain how to react. But he did not seem as confused, you realized – as if, although not expecting the phenomenon, he knew exactly what it was caused by.
“Fascinating…” he finally spoke in a soft voice. “Really, I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen one like this” he talked with childlike thrill. “It’s old, isn’t it?” He looked back at you, but his smile fell once again, noting you were nowhere close to sharing his excitement.
He let go of the mirror’s frame and took a step towards you, face tense and determined.
Something in you screamed, some sort of self-preservation instinct reminded you of its presence, calling out to you: this is a threat! This isn’t normal! It’s a sign, run!
Can’t move.
You stood there, completely stunned, as Baekhyun finally closed the proximity, finding himself right in front of you.
Was it some sort of manipulation, or was it just you – that the fear in your guts somehow mixed with arousal?
“What… is that?” you dared to ask in a tone as tough as you could make it.
He stepped that one step too close, making you stumble backwards. One step more, one more, and he had you leaning against the wall by the bedroom’s door, somewhat cornered, yet with enough room to flee if you so wished.
“If…” Hearing his voice this close made you flinch slightly, and he turned his tone down a bit. “If you tell me to leave, I’ll leave. I’m not going to hurt you.”
The last words made the heart thump in your chest.
“But… you could.”
“I could.”
“Were you going to?”
He didn’t reply for a moment, breathing in deeply.
“Not… much.”
You stared at him, still uncertain and confused.
“Who are you?”
He stepped back again. Your eyes moved between his silhouette and the mirror behind when he stood right next to it, giving you the best picture of his non-reflecting self.
“I’ll give you a fun fact instead” he announced, lips curling into a grin again. “Your mirror is very old. I actually don’t remember the last time I’ve had this happen to me. Because mirrors nowadays don’t do that. Do you know why?”
You had no clue what he was going at – you shook your head.
“Because mirrors nowadays are usually made of glass and aluminum. Or stuff like that, I’m not so sure, really” he shrugged, unbothered. You still weren’t able to finish the thought off, a small piece still lacking for you to understand it. Baekhyun sensed that, and he patiently continued – speaking the last few words to put all of the puzzle together for you. “What they used to be made of in the past?”
You gawked at him.
“…” The breath got caught in your throat. “Silver. They… They used to be made of silver.”
“Voila.” Baekhyun spread his arms, as if presenting himself to you. “And before you try to think of all the possible creatures that have silver allergy written into their lore, just know I’m not the only one you had a chance to meet tonight.”
You recalled the stranger you met at the bar, Baekhyun’s friend whose words had spiked your curiosity the moment they echoed in the dark street.
I won’t bite you, I promise.
What if someone bites her when she’s alone?”
His eyes sparkled as he watched all the small bits come together in your head. Slow enlightenment displayed within your facial expressions with hundreds of subtle emotions, and piece by piece, the deduction snowballed, becoming more and more apparent, bared for him to drink the sadistic satisfaction from.
That was when you recalled his own words.
A good snack is a good snack regardless of the time.
“You… were going to bite me?” you finally uttered, voice breaking with every syllable.
He let his arms fall to his sides, smile softening, head tilted slightly backwards – your eyes spotted his fangs, sharper and whiter than human teeth, exposed by him for you to admire.
“If you tell me to leave now, I’ll leave” he repeated, but his tone made it clear that he already knew you weren’t going to do that.
In fact, even you knew from a while ago that your curiosity was too strong to let him off the hook – you felt like you caught a sort of urban legend, and you’d hate yourself for letting him flee without getting a hold of all his secrets.
Ultimately, though, it was the sensation of getting preyed on by him that – you realized – lit a fire inside of your body, and made your insides burn with want.
“Stay, please” you uttered in a small voice, as if too shy to request something this impure. “I want to know… more” you whispered, convincing yourself to look back at him. Your eyes fell on his fangs again, so unnaturally sharp despite not appearing that much longer than in a human. You recalled when he kissed your thigh earlier, and shivered, realizing how close it was, how easily he could have…
“You’re thinking too much” he suddenly interrupted, noting that you were so endorsed in the chaotic train of thoughts that you were just hyping yourself into anxiety at this point.
He lifted his hand towards your face, slowly and carefully, as if to test the waters. You weren’t sure if you should let him. Maybe, in some twisted way, it would be easier if he didn’t ask – if he just grabbed you and forcefully bit into your neck, so you could experience that mysterious sensation of falling a prey to possibly the only creature on the earth that could realistically impose threat to the mankind. You felt a nervous, but exciting sensation in your gut.
You didn’t even manage to react before his fingers gently brushed your cheek. You were already a goner, leaning into his hand on instinct. The fear became thrill instead.
“Here you go, good girl” he whispered with content.
Not waiting any further, he leaned down and buried his face in the crook of your neck. You let out a small whimper when his lips touched your heated up skin. You felt his fangs graze the sensitive surface, but no pain followed, only the sweet feeling of a chaste, open-mouthed kiss.
“Oh…”
He kissed slowly down your cleavage, hands running down your silhouette along with his lips. He breathed into the space where the hem of your dress ended, not daring to go further. You were still stunned, still too shaken to invite him in, but you didn’t oppose even one bit when he put his hands below your thighs and lifted you up, your arms automatically anchoring around his neck.
He was so gentle with you when he carried you over to your bed and placed you down on your back with utmost care. The bed sheets were cold below your body, your dress doing close to nothing to soothe the sudden sensation. But Baekhyun’s – against what you would think – was impossibly warm against yours when he hovered above you for a few moments, your legs wrapped around his waist just a bit longer. He placed another kiss on your cheek.
“May I?” you whispered.
“Hm?”
“Kiss your lips.” You cupped his face with your hands. “May I?”
“Go ahead.”
It seemed like he did it on purpose, not leaning in to make it any easier for you, and you had to strain yourself to reach him. Your lips touched, the sensation – absolutely breathtaking. His fingers gently wrapped around your neck, pushing you down into the mattress, but following the motion with his own mouth, deepening the kiss with a sense of roughness, overpowering you in a way. He nibbled at your lower lip, letting you feel the sharp edge of his fangs.
“Will you bite me?
“I think I will.”
“Why haven’t you yet?”
He broke the kiss and smirked down at you.
“Are you impatient?”
“Do you want me to beg for it?” you uttered, trying to sound irritated, although at heart knowing that you were close to doing so anyway. You were, in fact, impatient.
“Maybe later. Will you?”
“I…”
He didn’t let you finish, his grip on your thighs suddenly strengthening and you yelped, feeling his nails dig hard into your flesh. Your breath instantly quickened, sensation quickly becoming unbearable.
Taking all the time in the world, he finally released the hold, stroking your abused skin in comfort instead.
“Easy, love. See?  It’s just my fingers. You wouldn’t take my fangs just yet.”
He knelt back between your legs. Your dress’ lower hem was almost at your underwear from being carried by him earlier, and Baekhyun’s hands traced up your bare thighs, once again taking note of any sign of discomfort or displeasure.
You felt nervous, more than ever. Not only because you weren’t used to such casual endeavors. Something in you felt stressed about disappointing such a superior creature, still feeling like it’s a one-in-the-lifetime chance that you got.
Baekhyun seemed to sense your worry perfectly, and he leaned down to ground you with a kiss to your knee.
“You’re beautiful” he spoke with no ounce of hesitation or doubt. “And you smell delicious” he added. Such a peculiar thing to hear, you thought, yet your face heated up, as if the second compliment was much more meaningful than the first. “May I… taste you down here?” His hand slid down your inner thigh, stopping at your dress.
You opened your mouth, but, quickly realizing your voice won’t align with your intentions, you instead nodded – a bit too eagerly, involuntarily holding your breath.
He took all the time in the world, allowing you to get accustomed to his touch as he slowly lifted your dress, finally displaying your underwear, at which you let out a small, shy whimper. He pushed the fabric even higher, and you took the hint to sit up and take it off fully, now left in nothing but a black lingerie – a set you almost only wore to parties when you wanted to feel especially well put-together, and now you silently thanked yourself for this habit.
He now moved up and kissed the skin between your breasts, smoothly tracing his lips down to your stomach and stopping briefly above the hem of your panties, fingers hooking around the edge. With one last glance at your burning up face, Baekhyun slowly pulled your underwear down, taking his sweet time and enjoying the way you only squirmed quietly, held right at the edge of sanity with such a simple interaction.
“Breathe” he reminded you, discarding the fabric to the side, his own exhale hitting your private parts, now exposed for him to see.
He placed yet another comforting kiss on your mound.
“You’re okay, you’re safe” he whispered.
Although his words comforted you, he didn’t wait for you to calm down; quite the opposite, in fact, when he finally put his mouth around your pearl, overwhelming you with just the proximity. His eyes were fixated on yours in a predator-like way, drinking in your reactions and gaining sadistic pleasure from the way you could no longer control your body.
The room filled with wet noises that mixed with your own voice. Your moans slowly became more and more obscene as Baekhyun’s mouth worked shamelessly around your private parts with care, yet ease, as if he knew all bits of your body and didn’t even need to think twice, getting all the sensations, all the pressure, all the pace – perfectly right, pulling you further and further into the immense pleasure.
You were ready to relax and fall deep into the sensations, when he suddenly dug his nails into your thighs again, forcing you awake.
You yelped and tried to squirm away, but his hold only strengthened. Your breath hitched when you took the cue to stay still until the grasp once again dissipated.
“Don’t you feel too good?” he mocked. You glanced back at him – his eyes were shining red, face darker than just moments ago, threatening.
“B-Baekhyun…”
Should you feel scared at that moment? Should you understand that this man was a monster? Maybe. But it felt just too good to be in his hands, to be toyed with and hurt so sweetly. It was like a reward to know that out of all people, he chose you as his prey. There was some primal pleasure in being this little, naive girl that fell right into his trap, that allowed him to sweet-talk her into giving up her will of survival.
In a surge of confidence, you put your hand on top of his head, pushing him to resume what he was doing so well just moments ago. Baekhyun didn’t object, only letting out an amused huff when his lips wrapped around your clit once again, sucking on it gently and letting you once again melt in the sweet sensation. Your fingers clutched his hair, letting you release some of the tension, and when he hummed into your skin, you held it so tightly you for a second worried about causing him pain.
But he didn’t say a word and you quickly realized, it must have not bothered him in the slightest. His eyes slipped closed, now fully fixated on devouring you, hands holding your hips down to prevent you from squirming, hold just a bit too strong, just to cause you the slightest amount of pain, just to remind you what he was capable of.
Your whole body trembled, approaching the sweet release. Baekhyun’s mouth was relentless, and he read your reactions perfectly, his pace and movements perfectly designed to drive you insane.
With your thighs pressing together, you clutched his hair even harder. You were starting to convulse, letting out incoherent whimpers. Baekhyun’s fingers, dug into your thighs so strong you wouldn’t be surprised if they drew blood, no longer hurt – it was all mixing together, the proximity of his existence alone already overwhelming your senses, but the passion, the warmth, the textures, the sounds – it all sucked you in further and further, riding you off any remains of sanity that you may have had left.
Suddenly, right as you were about to reach the peak, everything stopped for less than a second; a void so sudden you didn’t even manage to register it.
And then, like a thunder through your body, Baekhyun’s fangs pierced the soft skin around your clit. He sucked hard on both your blood and your pearl, and you instantly came undone, crying out in pleasure and agony.
Your vision went white for what felt like ages and you felt like you were floating in the outer space; for those heavenly moments, you were not even sure if you’re still alive, but your thoughts mingled and dissipated too fast to formulate a coherent sentence. Whether Baekhyun was still there or not, you would not be able to tell; your mind was blank, and he could as well have left you moments ago – except the pain that was slowly starting to materialize again was an excellent proof that he was still present, and when your body finally came down from its high, you managed to register him down there, still between your thighs, with his arms wrapped around them in an almost loving-like manner.
You had absolutely no idea when did he bit into your thigh instead, letting your most fragile bits calm down from the overstimulation, but it looked like he was so endorsed in tasting your sweet blood that it took you a few long moments before he finally acknowledged you’re watching him. Your lower body was limp, small shivers running here and there, but any pain no longer present, your flesh too worn out to take note of it.
Sensing your gaze, Baekhyun slowly pulled his fangs out of your skin, carefully as to not damage it further, and then sent you a smug, bloody smile, hand caressing your hip.
“Welcome back” he spoke. “Took you a while.”
You tried to push yourself into the sitting position, but even your arms wouldn’t listen, and you fell back down in exhaustion.
Maybe it was merciful of him to climb up and hover above you, letting you look at his full figure even when you could no longer move to watch him yourself. A drop of your blood slipped from the corner of his lip, landing on your own. You curiously reached to it with your tongue, and Baekhyun didn’t wait a second, pressing his lips into your own, taking that sweet droplet back but giving you a taste of the metallic flavor in its full glory. A short, but rough nib to your lip made you let out a small, helpless whimper, tears emerging in the corners of your eyes – with the amount of overstimulation, even that much was already too much, and you were so worn out, so weak, so overdone.
“Just a bit more, love.”
His lips once again found themselves on your neck, kissing so tenderly that you barely felt it.
The prickling pain that followed no longer caused you to recoil; your body was growing weak, too weak to handle it anymore. You were getting drained beyond the stage of quick recovery, and you could tell, there was nothing you could do at this point to stop it.
Just a bit more, just a few more sips.
“You taste so good.”
Biting into the top of your breast now, closer to your heart. You didn’t feel it anymore, only phantom sensations somewhere far away.
You were at the brink of unconsciousness when he finally pulled away. A bit carelessly, he knelt up and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, dark burgundy-shining eyes fixated on your fading ones.
Although you still had it in yourself to look back at him, the world around you was gradually collapsing, and it was only those burgundy eyes that kept you right above the surface, but so about to drown.
“My… I may have overdone it. Are you still there?”
He sounded marginally worried, as if coming across a small incident, and not a human life that was on the line.
You blinked and moved your fingers ever so slightly, just to let him know you’re still conscious, although barely.
The man smiled at that softly, clear relief washing over his face.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be okay. I’ll make sure of that.”
He reached to your cheek, patting it gently. It felt a bit grotesque; his skin was so warm as opposed to yours, chill from the lack of blood and paler than ever.
But his touch felt nice, and, although you knew that the slumber you’d fall into would not be natural and the next hours would possibly decide your fate, it felt like you were falling into a dream instead; you were growing addicted to his presence, and you could do nothing to stop it. You were a goner.
“I’ll make sure of that, because I cannot possibly waste a fine snack like you. It’s just the beginning, love. Better recover fast.”
Ahh, I'm actually proud of this one, hope you guys enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing! Also don't hesitate to let me know your thoughts, and hopefully, more vampire content will be coming in the future!

"The Hunt" Bagginshield ABO (Rough Draft)
I posted a little snippet of this, the end of it, awhile back, and since then I've been fiddling with it constantly and I'm on the verge of rewriting all two thousand something words and start over. So, I'm posting it here first, hoping for some advice/criticism/reassurance on what I should do with it. Please, help (;
Bilbo had adjusted to the cultural shock of living with Dwarves relatively quickly. The months he’d spent on the quest with the company had helped him when it came to being the only Hobbit in a mountain of them. Everything was completely different from what he was used to, from the food to the clothing, to the weather itself. Some of that had been expected and easily managed. He ate meals with everyone else plus the extra four he was used to, with whoever happened to be free at the moment keeping him company, so he didn’t eat alone. He’d even added some Hobbitish dishes to menus all over the mountain. The same was said for clothing, his closet was full of Hobbit style clothing that were decorated with the floral designs Hobbits preferred, alongside or combined with the traditional geometric patterns Dwarves favored. Dori and Nori had taken on the challenge of making his whole wardrobe and they’d outdone themselves. Several of the tailors and shops in the marketplace now offered similar items themselves. And the weather had simply been solved by finally giving in and admitting that his bare feet needed something during the winter months, especially if he wanted to go outside. As such he now had a drawerful of thick socks, also made by both Dori and Nori, that were just as decorated as the rest of his clothing.
But the one thing he was still struggling to adjust to was how different they were when it came to their secondary genders. For Hobbits, there were expectations and responsibilities for each. Alphas were expected to be the head of the family and do the more dangerous things, like being Bounders. Omegas were expected to be pregnant as often as possible, as long as it was safe to be so, and Betas were expected to fill in any gaps and be whatever was needed in whatever relationship they were in.
Despite that Hobbits were all mostly similar in certain ways regardless of whether they were Alpha, Beta, or Omega. They were, as a people, generally gentle and kind-hearted folk. Suspicious of the outside world, with good reason, and with few exceptions, they were all content to live in their smials, throw parties for any an all reasons, and drink and eat to their hearts’, and stomachs’, content. They spent their heats and ruts either at home alone or with their mates, and it was highly expected to choose a mate and marry them as young as possible. For the majority of Hobbits, regardless of their gender, they only ever touched or were touched by one person and that was the person they chose to be their mate.
Dwarves on the other hand were completely different. They drew clear lines between Alphas, Betas, and Omegas, while simultaneously treating them all equally. Unlike Hobbits, Omegas weren’t expected to have children. He knew and had met several Omegas who had dedicated their lives to their crafts instead of relationships or were in a relationship and simply didn’t want children. Also, Omegas weren’t looked at differently or whispered about for doing dangerous work. Neither were Alphas sneered at for doing what would be considered delicate work, such as embroidering or knitting. No, for Dwarves, they wore their genders proudly in their braids, but it made no difference to how they were treated by others.
And for Bilbo, a Hobbit who had for many years been the local oddity due to being an unmated Omega who was head of his family and the family business, it was both a pleasant and a jarring change.
He’d thought he’d grown used to the way things were, he’d even started letting Fili and Kili put an Omega braid in his hair. Something that still seemed to unsettle Thorin, so much so that for the first few times he had quickly excused himself before running from the room. Bilbo had yet to get an explanation for that, so he’d simply chalked it up to some Dwarf thing he didn’t know about. And then, he’d found out about the Hunt.
“I’m sorry, could you explain it to me again please?” Bilbo was sure he’d heard Balin wrong. There was no way Dwarves actually did that.
Balin chuckled and looked up from the scroll he was writing on. “Any unmated Alphas, Betas, and Omegas may participate in the Hunt. It’s two weeks of eating, sleeping, and preparing. It is called the Hunt because at the end of the two weeks, some are hunted, while the others are the hunters.”
Bilbo swallowed heavily before he hesitantly asked, “Hunted for what?”
Balin set down the scroll completely and looked at the Hobbit over his glasses. His eyes stared into Bilbo’s as he answered, “For mating.”
“Mating?” Bilbo squeaked out. His face was already burning but his curiosity was stronger than his embarrassment. He knew what mating was, understood it on a purely physical, educational level, but he’d never experienced it. And even if he had, Hobbits didn’t do anything like what Balin was describing.
“Yes. On the final night, the hunted run, and the hunters chase, and almost everyone finds a mate, if not more than one,” Balin explained. “It is a night for us to give in to our primal urges, to experience a heat or rut in a different way.”
“Isn’t that, well, dangerous?” Bilbo asked. The thought of alphas and omegas running loose, lost in their heats and ruts, sounded terrifying to him.
“It can be, yes,” Balin agreed. “But even in our most primal, animalistic states, we are not cruel or vicious. Fighting is to be expected, but most know when they’re beaten and will yield. Likewise, most know when they’ve won, and they’ll let the loser go. It’s not unheard of for people to die, for fights to get out of control or for someone to take it too far, but it is uncommon.”
“I see. But, what if you,” Bilbo paused to think over his words. “What if someone is interested in another, but they aren’t interested in return?”
“It’s even rarer for forced mating to happen, but it has happened in the past,” Balin regretfully admitted. “It’s a risk one takes to be a part of the hunt. But most are more interested in finding willing partners than wasting time and energy forcing themselves on another.”
Unsure of how to respond to his reassurance, Bilbo simply nodded. Balin smiled kindly at him and explained, “There are risks, yes, but that is why it is optional. It is for those who are without mates, who wish to have a little fun. Everyone gets to show off in the days leading up to the hunt, by decorating themselves with paint and jewels or showing off their prowess in fights. And on the final night, they run wild and free in ways that they don’t usually get to experience. Though, some do go into it with other motivations.”
Bilbo leaned back in his chair, his head swimming. This took culture shock to an entirely new level. He cleared his throat several times and fiddled with the buttons on his waistcoat, before he stammered, “Other motivations?”
“Oh yes.” Ignoring the worrying expression on Bilbo’s face, Balin got comfortable and leaned back in his chair. “Some who enter are looking for a mate, and they will have their token with them. It’s an unspoken rule that tokens are not to be touched, stolen, or damaged in any way. Even in our most primal of states, that’s instinctual. If someone finds another that they like they may present the token to them. In the heat of the moment, it’s easy to get lost in the intense feelings and lose track of people, especially if you have multiple partners during the night.”
Bilbo’s head spun again just from that sentence. Multiple partners? He wasn’t touching that right then, probably never would because it didn’t concern him. He shook his head slightly and tuned back into Balin’s explanation. “The tokens make it easier for people to find their chosen afterwards. Assuming of course their chosen accepts. Rejecting a token is allowed, and encouraged if the feelings aren’t mutual.”
“I see,” Bilbo replied faintly. He clasped his hands on the desk in front of him to stop them from fidgeting. “You said motivations, plural. What else is there?”
“Children.” Balin chuckled when Bilbo gasped in shock, his eyes bulging. “There are some who wish to have children, without having to go through the trouble of finding a suitable donor or partner. They simply wish to mate with as many people as possible to give them the best chance of being impregnated. Or they only wish to mate with someone they find acceptable, such as the strongest hunter of the group, to ensure their child is also strong.”
“That makes sense.” That was all Bilbo could say through his disbelief. That was entirely unheard of among Hobbits. If someone had children, it was because they were mated and married and had usually planned them. No one just had children on their own, with the rare exception of an Omega who’d been widowed during pregnancy. But even then, they would often take another mate to help with raising the child, they didn’t do it all on their own. Bilbo cleared his throat and offered an apologetic smile. “Forgive me for my surprise, please. This is very different from how we Hobbits do it.”
“Oh, no worries, laddie, I thought as much.” Balin waved away his apology with his hand. “I don’t think anyone else but us Dwarves do it, not the men nor the elves. It’s why we don’t talk about it much.”
“Ah, yes, one of your many secrets.” They both chuckled at Bilbo’s teasing, then he turned serious again. Now that his mind was working through this new information, the surprise and embarrassment were completely replaced by his curiosity. Questions were popping into his head fast, but one stuck out amongst the lot. “How do you ensure children occur? After all, if the Hunt is a once a year, scheduled event, most of the participants won’t be in heat or rut when it occurs.”
Balin winked at Bilbo and gave him a smirk. “We’re back to the secrets again, laddie. We’re not as good as Hobbits when it comes to gardens and vegetables, but our healers know their herbs. Part of the Hunt is taking the right ones. Everyone eats or drinks, whichever they prefer, an herb that sends them into heat or rut. For Betas, they’re given something different that simulates whichever they choose.”
Balin entwined his fingers over his beard as he continued, “Everyone who enters is given just enough herbs based on their size and how fast they burn through medicines. No one is given too much, and what they are given is given in small amounts over the course of the two weeks, so it builds in their systems, and they have time to adjust. This also gives them a chance to change their mind or for them to see a healer if something does go wrong.”
“That’s why the preparation is so long,” Bilbo assumed. It made perfect sense to him, and it sounded as though the Dwarves had it planned out perfectly. The thought of the Hunt, while still jarring to him as a Hobbit, sounded less like a uncontrollable thing where people went crazy and did awful things to each other, and more like a large, planned party where everyone was there to go wild and have fun together. As a Hobbit who loved parties, he appreciated the logistics that went into this. And as an Omega who’d never so much as been kissed, the thought of having this chance to see what he’d been missing without fear of hurt feelings, or an arranged marriage, was beginning to sound appealing.
Bilbo shoved that thought away. He absolutely wasn’t going to do it, no matter what fantasies went on in his own head. He cleared his throat and continued with his questions. His purely academic questions. “For those who don’t want children?”
“Preventative herbs are available before and after the hunt, and we’ve worked out many options that are safe to take with the stimulant herbs,” Balin replied matter-of-factly.
Bilbo nodded slowly, taking a moment of silence to process all the information he’d just been given. When he felt like he had a good handle on everything, he smiled at Balin. “It certainly sounds like you all know what you’re doing. When will the Hunt take place, then?”
Balin tapped his chin thoughtfully before answering him. “We’ve been preparing for it for weeks now, but now that Thorin is completely healed and it’s safe for him to participate, we can finish the last few things up. It should only take another two weeks before we can get started.”
The Hobbit froze and for the second time in just five minutes he was sure he’d heard incorrectly. “Thorin? He’s going to?”
“Oh, yes, laddie, as an unmated king, it’s one of his responsibilities.” Balin barely held back a laugh at Bilbo’s surprised expression. “It is in the hopes that he might meet someone, but also to prove his raw prowess and strength against other Alphas. That’s why it’s only for unmated kings unless they wish to do the Hunt together as a couple. Most don’t though, there’s always the chance that things can go wrong in such a situation.”
“I understand that, yes.” Bilbo swallowed. He hid his hands under the desk and nervously wrung them together. “So, he will for sure be a hunter, as you called it?”
“Oh yes. We use the terms hunter and hunted, because those terms are not used solely for Alphas and Omegas respectively, but yes, Thorin, as an Alpha, will be a hunter.” Balin’s eyes twinkled over his glasses as he suddenly asked, “Will you be joining the Hunt, too, Bilbo?”
“Yes.” The answer popped out before Bilbo could even think about it.

You’re so talented. Every time your fan binding pictures cross my dash I stare at them for *hours*. The amount of care and detail you put into your books blows my mind. I know you talk about the process for each individual book on your fic binding posts but I wanted to ask: how do you plan your fic binds? Do you visualize what the fic would look like if it were a book while you read it? Do the colors and illustrations you choose come to you as you read the fic, or after? How does your approach to fic binding differ from your approach to writing? Etc. I’m curious about your creative process, though the technical part is also super interesting!
Ps: I love all the fics you chose to bind but I was so excited when you picked GallaPlacidia’s Ship of Theseus - probably my favorite of theirs. You have great taste 😁💚
Eek Elise THANK YOU! I’m so flattered & honored. Also always happy to talk fanbinding, especially binding design (my one true love)!
I would say planning takes the vast majority of my binding time—it’s something I love and I agonize over and I struggle with—while the actual binding often goes quite quickly! I often start with one element that I’m excited about & feel fits the the specific fic: a color or spine stitching pattern or a chapter title concept or title page (like the hand-dyed cover + birds for You Open Always or the blooming morning glories for Meet Me at Midnight) and then, because I have no chill or a single subtle bone in my body, I just roll with that element through the whole book until it’s totally exhausted (wish I could spoil some of my upcoming binds here, but you will SEE VERY SHORTLY what I mean). Every single time I make a book, around the time where I’m printing out the typeset, I feel that I’ve made a grievous error in including one more item than I should have, like it’s way too much. An example is the blackletter ornate font I ended up using for the title of You Open Always—you can see in my draft Illustrator document where I was trying out tons of concepts using stock images that most of my title page concepts were with a much simpler, more modern font that I used for the chapter numbers. However, in the end, I’ve always been happy that I’ve gone completely 100% on my vision, even if it’s a lot. In that way, I feel like it’s like writing—I may be incorporating all the elements I want to see imperfectly and have doubts about them, but I’m still putting everything I want in there & I’m proud and happy for that, even if I still have more things to learn.
Tumblr media
One last design element I want to highlight: BODY FONT! This is something I am still learning so much about and the Renegade Discord has been incredibly helpful (a recent message I sent: what font would you find in a pulpy 60s mystery paperback?). A gorgeous title page or chapter header or cover is great for setting the mood when you open a book, but the body font is 90%+ of what you see when reading, so I spend a TON of time trying different fonts to fit the vibe of the fic. I have no thoughts or advice or guidelines though—it’s like porn & you just know it when you see it.
I also get a ton of inspiration from fellow fanbinders, both on the Renegade Discord server & here on tumblr. A lot of time, I see a technique or cover or typeset and think that that would look incredible for XYZ fic. An extremely abbreviated list of people who inspire me daily: @a-gay-old-time (Emma, you're a BLESSING), @queercore-curriculum, @bindsbymunchkin, @pleasantboatpress (one of the most welcoming members of the Renegade server, in addition to being an incredibly inspiring binder), @chubsonthemoon, @no-name-publishing, @zhalfirin-binds, @dontcallmebree, @amywaterwings & @runawaymarbles. Sorry for all the tags, but want this as a resource for others! I would absolutely love to know how all of you come up with your artistic vision for the binds that you do (and please tag me if you post!).
P.s. Ship of Theseus was a request from QC but I am SO HAPPY they requested it, because it’s one of my favorites too :)

I would love to see your backstage of making your vampire story <3 how you take your photos, chose perspectives, plan dialogues. please tell about your process
Hello, Friend of Mystery!!
Happy New Year and thank you for this ask! I'm a very small-time simmer in this corner of the interwebz filled with really talented and artistic simblrs, so I appreciate the question and interest!
Now, backstage! The method to the madness!
Tumblr media
I usually have an idea: it's a loose- general idea of the direction and mood of the plot and dialogue. I don't like to be too specific unless I have a clear pose in mind for a scene. The thought process might be something like, "Lawrence and Julian are going to have a talk about vampires and technology in this scene, but act flirty with each other while they do so."
I go into the game to organize the setting and choose outfits/props. MCCC and Wonderful Whims are game-changers for posing. I'm a terrible builder, so I end up spending a lot of time browsing the gallery or searching for builds and objects by skilled folks. That part is often fun. Imagining the potential of lots and cc is a big part of gaining admission to the mental asylum expressing creativity in this game! Depending on the story I am working on, I may have mods like Underworld running to make sure it always looks like nighttime in my environments.
I use Reshade. It saves me time when editing and gives the images lovely depth, shading, and coloring that otherwise isn't there. I use different presets that I screw around with and tweak, but some favorites are Marigold and Senshi 4.0. Shadows and lighting are super important and can make or break a scene.
Once I have my image, I'll tweak it in Photoshop. Thanks to Reshade, it's usually just to quickly fix something, like clipping or rough edges.
I use Canva to organize my stories and write in the dialogue, but that's always dangerous because my inner middle-schooler wants to unleash a million stickers everywhere and ruin the edits. Ask me how many times I've stuck googly eyes on Lawrence and cackled at my own idiocy ingenuity!
I write while I am taking pictures. The sequence is: pose, take the picture, edit the image, write, and on to the next scene. I used to take all the images first and write afterward but found that sometimes a pose or screenshot would unexpectedly convey a different take on an idea, reaction, or character- or even inspire a different direction for the dialogue in a scene. It's easier for me to adapt the dialogue to an image than vice versa. I feel that writing as I go, while my game is open and ready gives me more flexibility and freedom to make changes.
???
Profit!
Ok, now-sorry- for real. I download everything, usually save it as a draft, wait a bit to see if I catch any big mistakes, and then post.
I actually struggle with serious self-doubt and a really mean inner critic, so posting here has been an exercise in self-acceptance. Still, I often avoid checking the notifications for a while after I post because I am that nervous. But I'm happier for sharing my stuff rather than not since I have had the chance to connect with so many fun and talented people here!
That's it!
Thank you for the ask on this first day of the year! It made me super happy! All the best to you!! ❤️

The First Perfect Day
My first time doing FFF! I meant to post this last night but I accidentally saved it back into my drafts instead of posting it @flashfictionfridayofficial
Tumblr media
A veritable sea of sand, far as the eye could see, stretched out before them.
Aziraphale was getting so dreadfully tired of seeing it, and even more tired of needing to rub the grittiness out of his eyes and shake out his crude sandals every couple of steps. Crawley, on the other hand, seemed to be greatly enjoying how warm the sand felt against his belly as he glided along the endless expanse of dunes in his serpent form.
They’d each had orders from their respective head offices to keep tabs on the first humans when they were kicked from the garden, and so, for the past two days, they’ve been trekking along after them through the desert.
The sun beat down on the top of Aziraphale’s head as he tiredly trudged up and over a particularly large dune. While he wasn’t exactly one to question the Almighty’s choice of design, he couldn’t help but conclude that sand and sun had proven themselves to be a rather horrible combination. It was far too hot and much too bright to be hospitable for long, the sun baking everything in its sights to a crisp.
Something wet trickled down from his temple, and he wiped it away. Sweat. He was sweating like a human, though maybe that just came with donning a corporation.
He turned to his left, a question on the tip of his tongue, but it died when he saw that Crawley was gone. Perhaps the demon had had enough of the endless expanse of sun and sand, Lord knows Aziraphale was nearly at his limit too.
But that was when a squiggly black creature made itself known by sliding down the side of the dune next to him, sending a torrent of sand up into the air as he raced down. Aziraphale wrenched his wings up in an attempt to shield himself from the rain of sand.
“Are you quite done?” He snapped.
But Crawley just scaled right on up the dune again. “Nah. It’sss fun, you ssshould try it.”
“Absolutely not,” Aziraphale chose to keep one of his wings up, the better to block out some of the sun. It didn’t help much, and he still found himself squinting, but it was better than nothing.
Crawley gave the serpent equivalent of a shrug before sliding down the dune again with a “wahoo!”
Aziraphale shook his head and wiped at his brow. While Crawley had a bit of fun, he took the opportunity to try and catch his breath before they continued onwards. But during his little break, he hadn't realized just how close he was standing to the edge of his dune.
The soft edge gave way and he lost his balance as his center of gravity suddenly shifted, sending him careening forward into a presumably very sandy ditch. He yelped, wings frantically flapping to compensate for the sudden lack of solid ground under his feet.
And before he had the chance to brace himself, a hand covered in quickly retreating black scales shot out from behind him and grabbed hold of his heavenly robes, pulling him back onto semi-stable footing.
“Woah, there. Careful, angel.” Crawley said teasingly, though the next bit came out a touch too sardonically for Aziraphale’s liking, “Wouldn’t want you to suffer a fall, now would we?”
“No, no, we— I, I wouldn’t want that.” He managed to catch himself, though he was embarrassed by the turn of events. Crawley gently let go of his robe, leaving behind a wrinkle to which Aziraphale brushed away with a mere thought. He took a calming breath, trying to soothe his obviously ruffled feathers. “Thank you.”
“Save it. Look, I think I saw an oasis a few paces back. What’dya say we go check it out and get out of this sun for a bit?” Crawley asked, already turning on his heel in the direction he apparently saw signs of vegetation in, and grimaced when his foot immediately sank into the sand. The first few steps he took were wobbly and riddled with grunts of effort, but he managed well enough. “Oh wow, I can see why walking through this put you in such a bad mood.”
“It’s not the most pleasant experience.” Aziraphale huffed, stumbling after the demon. Oh, he really did hope there was an oasis. One with plenty of shade, and maybe even a refreshing pool of water would be lovely. But then, what about his duty to watch over the humans? “Do you think the humans will be alright on their own for a little while?”
“I’m sure they will.” Crowley grinned back at him, his smile somehow brighter than the sun. And then, to really sweeten the deal, he gave an innocently tempting sway and added, “I didn’t mean to get a bunch of sand in your wings. I could take a look at them when we get there. If you want, of course, but I can only imagine how much they must itch.”
“I’d…” Aziraphale trudged up next to him, looking into the surprisingly sincere eyes of an even more surprisingly kind demon, “I’d like that very much.”
“Good, it’s just back a little ways. Let’s go.”
Sure enough, there was a small oasis with a delightfully cool pool of clean water and verdant plant life surrounding it.
Crawley settled Aziraphale on a low boulder in the shade and settled in behind him, motioning for him to spread his wings. Gentle fingers combed through his coverts down through to the tips of his primaries, freeing the annoying grains of sand, causing Aziraphale to hum and sigh in pleasure.
They then spent the rest of the afternoon soaking in the pool, scrubbing away the accumulated dust and sand of the desert from their skin, before moving on to lounge against a couple of rocks in the shelter of a cluster of palm trees. Crawley even pulled out some of the fruit that he pilfered before leaving The Garden, and shared it with the angel.
Since leaving The Garden, this had felt like the first perfect day in history.

Note
hiii!! sorry for the random ask (and you could totally private reply to this too), i found your blog from a friend, and i noticed that the fc of chanel is mina (lover her btw), but you listed her nationality as australian-korean-vietnamese. No hate or anything, but since mina is japanese and not of korean blood, and while you also listed her as chan's half sister (which chan is full korean ethnicity wise and korean-aussie nationality wise), it comes off as a little weird. Having her as hanni's (who is 100% viet ethnicity wise and aus-viet nationality) half sister also comes off as a little confusing too. This is kind of like ethnobending, so I just wanted to let you know. You can totally keep her fc as mina, but it would be nice to change up the nationality or to not have her as chan's half sister and hanni's half sister. I hope this doesn't come off as rude or hate, I just want to help a fellow addition out!! I do love the little antics and posts you make about chanel, but I wanted to bring this up. Hope this finds you well <3 If you have any other questions feel free to shoot me a dm and I can clarify/explain more if needed!

hihi!! I decided to private reply to this but I'll unprivate it if anyone else will need clarification about this! Yes I understand that Mina is Japanese but I made Chanel Viet-Aussie-Kor. I did do this intentionally because I
Couldnt find any viet idols that were older (like older than hanni or were popular)
I wanted something unique!
Chanel is a very unique character with her personality and her family! At first she was only gonna be Viet-Aussie but I kept on changing Chanel wether it was from her fc to her nationality/ethnicity. I made her Korean even though mina has no Korean blood because Chan however does have Korean blood and was also born there but raised in Australia. Idk if I've said this one her profile or anywhere else before but she's Korean because she has Korean blood and was born there (the Korean blood comes from her/chan's mother) and the thing is her backstory is rhat her mother and father met in Korea (before her + chan's birth) in high-school and even had a relationship with each other until in college they broke up cuz she cheated on him with Jack (Chan's father). Years later during 1997 Jessica (Chan's/Chanel's mother) is already pregnant with Chan (and she doesn't know) but Jessica and Her Father meet again in Korea while he was on vacation there and then they...yk (I heard u can actually get pregnant with twins by different fathers if u have...yk while ur pregnant) and then after that Chan + Chanel were born and yeah! And then ofc later Hanni was born by her mother bur Chanel's father which makes all 3 of them Half siblings.
I chose Mina as her fc because at first I didn't know what I wanted for Chanel and didn't plan anything out for her yet at the time but I saw Mina and was like "She's an underrated faceclaim plus she's pretty and gives off a elegant vibe." (The vibe I kinda wanted Chanel to give off at the time) I knew Mina is Japanese but just ignored it at the time and hoped nobody gave me problems with it!! (Whoch btw u haven't its just a question!) And I knew this question would come some day but didn't expect it to come this quickly. But yeah! I'll probably either change her fc (sigh again) or change her nationality cuz I PERSONALLY think the Hanni, Chan, and Chanel as half-siblings is really cool or ill just have one of them as her full sibling (which will most likely be chan). Or I'll just save it for a different oc or just delete her entirely and make a different Svt addition.
But either way I really appreciate that you like the antics of Chanel that I post about! (More ade coming from the drafts soon!!) And ofcourse I will and maybe in the future we can become friends!
-xx love Akuma/Woo

it's almost time for chapter two of ride or die 🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰 I'm readyyyyy.
Tomorrow can't come soon enough.
Anyways, I have a question for you.
What made you decide on writing the whole story first before posting instead of like everytime you finished a chapter you posted it? Did u write it chronological? Or was there certain scenes you just HAD to write first bc they were making you sleepless? What's the story behind the fic? Did u had the story in mind when u posted that first chapter years ago? Or was the support of the readers asking for a second part the thought that made you go: "I can totally make this a story"?
Sorry if those are a lot of questions....I'm just a curious girl. 🫣 Feel free to not answer me if u don't wanna.
Take care 💜
Lola, you are giving me LIFE.
Thank you for indulging me. My lil writer heart is so happy to receive these questions! 🧡☺️🥹
So, I decided to write the whole series before posting mainly so I could force myself to finish it! I’ve completed some series before by posting chapters on the fly… but I also have others which are unfinished with the concluding parts languishing in my drafts. So, I really wanted to know this was DONE, in part so I could escape the pressure / guilt (self-imposed) which sometimes comes with winging it. But also so I could give a satisfying conclusion to anyone who chose to kindly invest their precious time in it.
As well, omg. I felt so wrapped up with these characters that I sorta wanted to write their story free of external comments and perspectives. I felt like there were specific places I wanted them to go, and I wonder, if I had been responding to comments as the story was still unfolding, might I have started second guessing things or taking it in a different direction? And don’t get me wrong, comments are my FAVE thing, I live for hearing all the different takes and interpretations, and feedback has been endlessly helpful and meaningful to me. I’m grateful for every single one! I just sorta wanted to let the characters in my head have first dibs on where they wanted to go this time, you know?! ☺️ An honestly, most of the time I have NO IDEA where I’m going with something, but this time I had a little bit more of an idea of the arc I wanted, and so this made sense.
Practically, it was also so I could get the continuity right from chapter to chapter. A later moment might change my perspective on an earlier scene, and if I posted outright I wouldn’t have had the flexibility to make changes.
On that note, the flexibility turned out to be needed. Some things even changed pretty last minute.
I definitely didn’t write it chronologically. I jump around a lot when I write. It’s CHAOS!!!
Tbh, I never had any continuation or larger story in mind when this started, and I fully credit all of the wonderful readers of that one-shot for this being a thing AT ALL beyond that! Chapter 1, in its OG form, was actually my first EVER Santiago one shot, and I loved the pairing so much that, with encouragement, I resolved to do a “part 2”!
However, their situation is actually so complicated that it… wouldn’t resolve quickly, yk?! The characters needed more space to breathe and grow (and to go through some stuff). And so now it’s LONG. It just… expanded as the characters pushed it apart.
I had a blast 🤣🤣🤣
In terms of scenes that were making me sleepless? Hmm. I spent a LOT of time thinking and pondering and playing out variations in my head. A LOT. There’s a flashback scene I was itching to write for a very tender moment contained in it (that chapter is far too long gah). And there’s a scene between Santi and Frankie that’s a real highlight for me.
Also, I cried MANY times while writing this agshsjajshahkahshsjjaj.
Thank you so much for being so sweet and being interested. I can’t tell you how much it means, fr. 🥹🧡

2022 MOVIE OF THE WEEK #26
Tumblr media
do revenge. oops i did not realize that i posted my next movie out of order this was in my drafts and should have been first. i had no idea this movie even existed, despite it starring two actresses i genuinely love, until i read a profile of sarah michelle gellar completely randomly a day or two before it premiered. the interview made it seem like a next-gen cruel intentions, complete with her playing a character ‘who could be katherine, what she’s like today’ as the headmaster.
and when she first showed up in the movie, it really did take me back--she slipped, as well as anyone could be expected to decades later, right back into That Katherine Voice. she chose this movie as part of her return to acting, and she really seemed to be enjoying herself, so i’m happy for her.
i was also happy for me, because cruel intentions was very important to me as a teenager, and there’s something about her in this movie that just hits me hard that way--she delivers a line at one point about what it’s like to be seventeen, and there’s just so much intensity to it, so much she puts into that one line, where she didn’t have to. it resonated with me, like, this isn’t just the headmaster talking to a student...this is sarah michelle gellar, who was buffy, who was katherine, who was a scream queen, who brought our teenage dreams and fears to life. i just really enjoyed the sort of depths that live in her now, that she wanted to use to make this movie better. because she’s only a small part of it, but she’s a really fun part.
so anyway, i went into this knowing vaguely about her role, and the two leads, and otherwise i just knew it was a netflix movie. that can be REALLY hit or miss these days, there are still some i like but more of them lately are not what i would call good. i was prepared for this one to suck, and to have fun watching it even if it was a bad movie dramatizing bad behavior by rich kids.
but it was surprising! i did not expect maya hawke to play another gay character, and she is a delight always but honestly i love her best queer because while she was great as jo march, i met her as robin and i mean, robin is my netflix icon. that is a measure of my fondness for her. i’m not sure what i expected from camila mendes, she showed off her range on riverdale so i know she can do anything really--but she does play a believable self-absorbed mean girl.
the beginning of the story confused me occasionally so it’s definitely a better time if you can watch it uncritically and go with the flow. a couple days after we saw it, i ended up putting it on again, as background noise while i was cooking, and that time it was a lot more fun because i wasn’t trying to make things make sense.
for example, when it opens on a party, we spent most of the scene debating whether the movie was set in the 90s, or if it was a 90s themed party, or if style had just looped back around so all these teens were heavily influenced by it. and i still don’t understand why, if you trusted your boyfriend enough to send him explicit photos, you would assume immediately that he leaked them when they got out, while he claimed he didn’t do it. i know that it’s not relevant to the plot because he couldn’t have proved otherwise, but i genuinely don’t get that early moment, because if i had trusted someone i would give them the benefit of the doubt.
this review is already too long so i won’t go into the plot much more except to say that as @actuallylukedanes and i were watching it, i kept mentally guessing what was coming next, or we would discuss what we thought the answers to the movie’s mysteries would be...and every time i expected this movie to go one way, it went another. i don’t think i guessed a single thing right, even when in a few cases i had caught their breadcrumbs at the time and thought ‘huh, what we’re being shown doesn’t quite fit.’ that was really refreshing. i enjoyed being surprised.
the movie’s not flawless. at a certain point it moved so quickly from the final showdown to its happy ending that it didn’t totally feel earned to me, though that didn’t stop me from enjoying the ending. maya hawke’s performance after the reveal gave me a moment where i saw her fierce uma thurman inheritance shining through, in a way i never have before, which was awesome--but in a different scene i felt like she was tonally borrowing from killing eve’s villanelle, so it was hard to get a good grasp on her.
was she always at risk of being unhinged and a traumatic event triggered it? did she react rationally to a horrible experience and it’s fine because ‘teenage girls are psychopaths’? in the end we don’t really know, because her counterpart doesn’t care so we’re not supposed to either. blowing so quickly past her actions because they face a greater villain together may make sense for them, but i still have questions! lol.
beyond the performances (sophie turner is living her best life in this it’s fantastic) and the fashion, one of the very best parts of this movie is the music. MY GOD, the music. leander pointed it out before i noticed, but the ‘90s tunes that they mix in between modern artists is just...chef’s kiss. from a song off my favorite hole album to a joyful rendition of bitch to a full-on cruel intentions callback that made me hold my hands over my heart like i was trying to keep a teenage version of me from spilling out...this has a truly excellent soundtrack.
in the end, i appreciate the way that this movie clearly knows what it wanted to be, flaws and crazy and all. the people behind it made choices and then really went for them. i respect that, even when i don’t always like their choices. i would mostly recommend it though--for me, it was a good time.

[This has been in my drafts since August 2020. I don't want to delete it, but I've long since forgotten where I was going with it. I'm going to post it just to get it out of my drafts. It's obviously not finished since I don't appear to have reached any conclusions, but maybe someone will find it interesting/useful?]
I feel like it's been a while since I've posted anything of my own, and since most of my writing concerns Deltarune, I thought I'd shake things up and discuss Undertale instead. So, let's unpack Asriel's statement that, "Chara wasn't really the greatest person" and what, if anything, that can tell us about Chara's moral character.
Be forewarned that this will involve a discussion of the exact manner in which Chara died. To put it very lightly, it was not pleasant. Frankly, it's something I wish I could unlearn. (TW: Suicide)
Whether or not Chara was evil is obviously still a hotly contested issue, and Asriel's statements about them play a key role in arguments on either side. Asriel is the one who tells us they weren't the greatest person, but I feel like something many people overlook is that a lot of the canon surrounding Chara is relayed to us via Asriel, either directly or through the True Lab tapes, and Asriel's biases should be taken into account.
Consider that Asriel's last memories of Chara were not happy ones. First, he watched them die, but that doesn't do it justice. They didn't die quickly and peacefully—they suffered. They were likely in extreme pain, probably for several hours, and Asriel saw this. His best friend chose to do this to themselves, and Asriel had to be there in order to absorb Chara's soul. (You can't see this, but I'm actually having a really hard time just thinking about this, so imagine how bad it would have been for Asriel.)
It's strongly implied by the tapes in the True Lab that Chara committed suicide by poisoning themselves with buttercups, which is not a peaceful way to go. Symptoms of poisoning include bloody diarrhea, excessive salivation, colic, and severe blistering of the mouth, mucous membranes and gastrointestinal tract. Contact with a wounded plant causes itch, rashes or blistering on contact with the skin or mucosa. Ingesting the toxin can cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, spasms, acute hepatitis, jaundice, or paralysis. We're told directly by the game that they died the day after becoming ill; it could be they poisoned themselves at night and died that morning, or it could have been even longer, but the point is that there were likely several hours between the initial onset of symptoms and their eventual death. (I'm serious. I had to take a break from writing this because it's too emotionally draining.)
So, after Chara's death, Asriel absorbed their soul, and the two of them crossed the Barrier, where they were attacked by the humans. Asriel tells us that Chara was the one who wanted to use their "full power", and Asriel resisted. We aren't told much more than that, but I can't imagine Chara and Asriel held a calm and level-headed debate about the issue while they were actively under attack. Given the urgency of the situation, it was probably a rather heated argument, and both parties likely said things they would have regretted. Then Asriel died, that argument being his last conversation with Chara.

I was tagged by @cinlat - thank youuu :D It's been a while since anybody tagged me ^^
I’m tagging @phelfromgrace, @fluffynexu (you bet you are working on a worldbuilding post), @hiersinddrachen, @funnygirl117 and @tishinada and anybody else who wants to do this!
Here is a very early draft of The Yavin Falcon (title may change), a Rose/Poe/Hux fic I have been struggling with in the past months.
But where else should Hux go? Here at least he felt like he belonged, the knowledge of having Stormtroopers ready, even without their armour put him at ease. He took a look around, old men and women with grey hair were sitting around, reading the holo news with the air of people who thought they were important. In truth they were all just waiting… waiting for another opportunity, waiting for somebody, anybody to come to them, to affirm that they still had power, that they still mattered.
Hux sighed. It was easy to look down on them, at least some of these old relics had deals with local gangs, providing the criminals with military knowledge, weapons contracts and stars knows what else in exchange for money and influence.
Whereas he was just ending up in this cantina because it was the only place where he could actually look down on others. Not like the Hutt yesterday, or the frivolous Twi’lek who had seen him as amusing at best.
Amusing… as if he wasn’t dangerous, as if he hadn’t designs in his mind that could bring death and destruction over planets. Perhaps he should take one of the many job offers the Hutts had sent his way.
Perhaps he should return to the blueprints, the circuits and the lasers. He pulled the tea egg out of the water and carefully put it on a small drip mat.
Memories of a bright red light, the stench of burned wood, melted snow and a burning heat on his face made his hand tremble slightly, a drip of tea landed on the table. Hux stared at the small spot, gulping.
No, he just couldn’t. Perhaps it was better this way? Toiling away on this hell hole planet, living from day to day until he got stabbed for a few credits or until one of his enemies found him.
Hux wrapped his hands around the tea mug, enjoying its warmth. Maybe that wouldn’t even be the worst that could happen, instead of slowly wasting away until he was like these old generals, going on about their exploits, talking about battles nobody remembered, alone, cold and bitter he could go out in a final confrontation. Looking once more his enemies in the face, sneering at them, taunting them until they freed him from his misery.
He sighed. Or was he just being dramatic? Had all that propaganda talk about heroism in the face of certain death wormed its way into his mind?
Hux checked his holo and reached out to take his tea when he heard a strangely familiar voice ring out.
“Hey, easy there, big guy. I’m just looking for a job.”
Hux lowered his hand, down to the hidden blaster inside his jacket. He knew that voice… and it raised his hackles. He leaned back into the wall, he prefered this table because it was partly hidden by a large holo fern, enabling him to hide whenever he chose to do so.
The commotion came from the bar, slowly he leaned forward, peeking around the corner. A man with curly dark brown hair sat at the bar. The barkeep was looking grumpy as ever and said something unintelligible.
“Come on, … is not my intention,” said the dark-haired man.
Hux listened intently to the bits and pieces he could hear. Yes, there was no doubt, the voice was familiar. He stayed hidden, pretending to check his holo as he glanced over to the bar. The man finally showed his profile as he pointed at something behind the barkeep.
Hux froze. Dameron! He quickly recuperated and leaned further back in his booth. Damn it, what the kriff was Poe Dameron doing here? There was little doubt that it was some kind of resistance operation—why else would he show up in a Cantina like the Silver Light?
Were they looking for him? Had they finally come to make him pay for Starkiller, even though he had spied for them? Hux took a deep breath, calming himself. No, that was inane, for all they knew he had died along with Pryde.
But maybe they heard rumours that he was here, on Nar Shaddaa? What a field day Dameron must have, finding out about his nemesis who now barely scraped by with card games, idling around in dingy Cantinas and hoping that his fellow First Order officers never found out that he had betrayed the Order.
Hux pressed his lips together, peeking again at Dameron and the barkeeper. Hm, Dameron had said something about a job, so maybe he’s pretending to look for one. It stands to reason that he pretended to be a First Order officer himself, at least that’s what Hux would do.
Dameron was very good at putting people at ease, according to his file he was a smooth operator who had the gift to get along with pretty much everybody.
The barkeep wasn’t known for his loose lips, so the chances were high that Dameron wouldn’t get the intel he was looking for. Meaning he would come back eventually, try to worm his way into the good graces of the officers here.
Think… he had to think. Should he just ignore him and avoid the Silver Light? No, he had to find out what Dameron was up to. If he was looking for him, he needed to kill him before anybody found out where he was. And if he wasn’t looking for him… hm, that was an interesting thought.
Hux was under no illusion that there were bigger Firaxan sharks out there than him. Lunatics like General Zabor for example. Dameron was looking for something or someone and he would probably kick the hornet's nest until he got what he wanted or until somebody slit his throat.
Should he just tip off the Stormtroopers and have him killed? What if he said something that incriminated Dameron? Hux drummed his fingers on the table, grimacing. No, it was too risky. Damn it, he had to take care of him personally.
He quickly checked the knife strapped to his left wrist. He would just follow him once he left and see what he could find out. If he had learned something in all his years assassinating enemies, it always paid off not to rush things.
Too bad that he didn’t have droids or trackers he could employ. Damn it, he should have planned for this eventuality and set up a plan!
Hux took another deep breath and reached out for his tea. His hand was calm when he grabbed it and took a sip. He was alert, cold and felt ready for anything. It was different from his usual unease that had taken hold of him in the last years.
He leaned back, out of sight and listened to the voices. About half an hour later Dameron fell silent, another quick glance revealed that he was rummaging through his pockets and threw a credit stick on the counter.
Dameron was about to leave.
Hux got up, casually walking towards the exit and left the Cantina. Outside he went to a group of lowly officers who were chatting amongst themselves and were smoking cigarras. He asked them if he could have one and they offered him a thin brown cigarra.
He lowered his head to get a light, from the corner of his eye he saw Dameron step out of the Cantina.
It was dark enough that Dameron wouldn’t get a good look at his face, especially in that cold neon light. He thanked the officers and left, following the other man at some distance. Back in the Order he had not needed subterfuge, he had simply melted into the dark background, disappearing behind other officers until it was the right time to make himself known.
But common sense told him that he just had to keep his distance and make sure that he looked casual doing it, no hasty movements and staying calm, even if he lost him out of his sight.

Electric Boogaloo ✦
Also if you've seen this posted already, I accidentally posted the draft instead of the full chapter TwT
Tumblr media
After that failed altercation with Blank, Nova had secluded himself to his office, being seen by the public now as more of a millionaire recluse. He'd still try to keep an eye on Blank through security cameras, trying to find any remnants of the big brother he lost so long ago to give himself hope. Blank's hacking had left long lasting damages on him, leaving him with small spasms every now and then and difficulties concentrating on tasks. He wished so bad for White to return, to just fix this whole mess Nova had created.
Meanwhile, Blank was living his best life. He loved having the freedom to go in and out of the hotel as he pleased. Now that Nova didn't even get up from his desk most days, there was no one restricting or threatening consequences to his actions. After 2 years under that idiot's thumb, he finally felt free, but not remorseful for hurting other people to get to where he was.
Tumblr media
It still was Blank's duty to do tasks around the hotel, which he didn't mind doing that much since he got to spend time with Amara. They cleaned, did regular maintenance, helped guests, all kind of jobs. All while Nova watched them from a security camera not too far away, both infuriated and hopeless.
During one of their afternoon shifts, Blank and Amara noticed as a crowd gathered at the entrance of the hotel. That area was always busy with check-ins and outs, but never with an actual stationary crowd. Fearing something bad might be happening, they made their way through the crowd to the source of all that chaos. What was everyone gathering around of? Or who were they all gathering around?
Tumblr media
White stood tall and pale, as ghosts do, but he was very much real. Despite how different his new organic disguise looked, he wasn't fooling anyone who already knew him for who he truly was. Blank and Amara stood in shock. How in Chaos' name was he alive? He died. Blank had been told that all his life, and Amara saw it with her own eyes. There was no way the tyrant himself could be back from the dead. Yet, there he was.
In the midst of giving autographs and answering questions from people who hadn't seen White Starfields in years, White recognized Amara in the middle of the crowd. At last, a familiar face. He was happy to see one. However his content was quickly taken away as he laid his sensors on the little white painted robot to her side. What was that thing? Blank could feel his stare almost melt his circuits; Nova had described White as a caring and loving brother, but all Blank could feel was fear for his life.
Amara quickly pulled White out of the crowd to a more secluded place. Then, blasted him with questions. How was he alive, where had he been, how did he get back to their dimension, why did he look so different. Meanwhile, Blank just stood to the side, reconsidering his options. If White found out that Blank had hacked and hurt Nova, he'd certainly kill him for that. However, if Blank could spin that the other way around, tell White how controlling and mean Nova had been to him, he could terrorize Nova in the worst way possible: turning his own brother against him. So he chose to do that.
Blank got White's attention by just being himself, explaining the horrors and manipulations Nova had forced onto him and Amara. How despite blindly believing Blank was White all along, Nova had purposely went out of his way to hurt him - hurt them. White was left shocked, the stinging feeling of betrayal sinking in as Blank kept explaining the last 2 years to him. He'd put all his trust on Nova, someone who claimed to love him back and to give him a home in his dimension. To think that those had been nothing but lies, something he gave up his two decades of work building the empire he thought he always wanted, broke him inside. Then, sadness turned into anger, a lot of anger. White wanted to have a word with Nova himself.
Amara tried desperately to hold back White, telling him how Nova had fallen from grace and wasn't going to take White's "criticism" that well. But White didn't care. Blank followed closely behind, excited to see Nova's face as the person he loved the most came back from the dead just to berate and possibly beat him senseless. This was no longer about getting Nova to stop annoying him since he'd already successfully done that. This was about revenge, seeing that "little brother" squirming in his seat as his big brother threatened to take his life. This was about entertaining himself with someone else's misery.
Despite Amara's best attempts, White got in Nova's office.

Ok, so for part two of my feedback, my actual thoughts around this. more generally.
First, this is around the F1 worldbuilding. I used to watch it with my ex and his brother so I kinda get it but I'm not big on following sports. What I do enjoy is the behind-the-scenes, the pressure, drama, politics, emotional toll, etc, so I enjoyed the Netflix series. I think you're including just enough to get what's happening and what's at stake (either during the race, like the fraction of a second, to the type of maneuvres, or outside of it, like how 25 points are so detrimental and how loosing to Max is what's she's been running away from this whole time - I'm proud I remember this actually from my actual F1 knowledge). There's not too much detail to the point that it's overwhelming or boring for someone who isn't a fan, but just enough to set the stage and make us invested. I wouldn't usually seek out to read about sports in general, but I think I would read other fics of yours in this setting based on this.
Second, damn I feel for Dilara, the pressure of the position she's in would be huge anyway, but to add to this being the first woman racing with the men (wow imagine this actually happening... it hasn't right?), to loose 25 points over a teenager on a Vespa when you're already stressed to the max, man she needs a hug and a drink and an island holiday, away from all things BTS lol.
Also, I like how you've written this timeline. Like you've skipped a huge plot point, then slowly revealed it, with a tini tiny bit of info at a time. Keeping us on the edge of our seats, I like it. Also, the way all of their stories show such different couples. This one is probably the most dramatic, I like that some of them provide us comfort (i.e. Namjoon x Kaya & Jungkook x Lia - JK & L my faves I miss them, good old fluff is needed to cleanse us from the stress of Jimin & Tae), others not so much lol.
Your fics are a unique collection of cohesive works, with enough realism and distinction between stories, also with OC with clear and defined personalities, that I find myself being extremely enthralled by your work.
Overall, 10/10 looking forward to whichever member you choose to post next because you could write about Spongebob at this point and I know I'd enjoy it. This is to say that regardless of my go-to preferences for casual reading, I will always enjoy your stories.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk, it is now 2am and I should crash soon.
Be still, my heart
Firstly, I LOVE that there are a few readers mentioning how they used to watch F1 or maybe watch DTS or have like a bit of knowledge and it's all suddenly coming in handy 😂 But absolutely, the important stuff isn't about who's in which team or how the race is going but the nuances of it, like what a big deal 25 points is or how quickly drivers can lose a seat. I'm not a sports buff by any means either but I absolutely love F1 and I need to make a conscious effort to not detail out unnecessary stuff (my initial drafts are so much more race heavy - exciting, but only if you're a diehard fan).
Timeline: yesss. I thought about it quite a bit, about making it linear or doing it this way but in the end, I chose to kind of mirror how it happened to Dilara. Again, not giving anything away, but it's a fair sense of foreboding before the truth hits her in the face and that shock is still kind of staying with her.
I'm so glad you love the different couples! Different people have different dynamics and I can't imagine Seokjin, for example, having this level of drama in his life. He just wouldn't have the patience for it while Tae, despite everything, is such a passionate person that he would lowkey like a certain level of drama (not this level, but a Confessions level probably). Namjoon and Kaya probably think themselves too mature for stuff like this and Jungkook and Lia are way more laidback - so there's something for everyone <3
Thank you so much for enjoying my work and my OCs (my loves) AND taking out the time for such a fantastic review. Honestly hoping to post the first Yoongi and Hoseok ones soon so that all characters are truly interconnected so I hope you enjoy those as well!
