Severus been trying to avoid students and teachers alike during the summer. Every time he sees someone he pretends he isn't there. And don’t even mention the prayers to not meet Potter.  Apart from that, I think he likes spending the summer travelling, seeing new places and learning about new potion ingredients, different creatures and plants. (Drew over a previous sketch, but I think I prefer this one better. )

As summer approaches I remember how I wanted to see a fanfiction/fanart of Severus and Lily being Camp Counselors at a summer camp (because I was a camp counselor so my ideas were running.)

My specific idea was this happening at the summer after 5th year, meaning after the worst memory.

Also Severus is barley handling the kids, and yet they like him the most - because it makes them laugh how much he struggles.

Lily finds it adorable because she never thought he'd manage younger kids (and he doesn't) (and she's a bit jealous cus she wanted to be the favorite counselor).

Only reason Severus didn't quit the first day was because of a single word og endorsement from Lily's side.

I imagine Severus hated living at Hogwarts as an adult, but I can also imagine he didn't mind living in cool, overcast Scotland.

Spring is coming here with long, bright, sunny days, and it's bringing constant migraines with it. Even with blackout curtains, the brightness feels inescapable.

Right now I'm feeling jealous of Snape as I imagine him living in an ever cloudy climate.

Snape in the summer headcanon

When it gets hot Severus prefers to stay inside, all the windows wide open, curtains closed to keep out of the sun

He hates going to the beach he doesn't like the feeling of the sand, the wind blows his hair in his face and the intense smells of the ocean spray and sunscreen upset him

A change in his routine is devastating so he always refuses to go out and participate in summer activities unless absolutely necessary, for example he doesn't have a sweet tooth so when Minerva suggests they get ice cream he turns her down immediately but later agrees to go shopping for books

Snape doesn't like to change from his usual outfit so gets far to hot in his cloak and long sleeves and when he inevitably overheats he becomes far grumpier than normal

The one thing he does like about summer is the light evenings as he can sit outside when it cools down and the sun dips bellow the horizon to read his books and enjoy the scenery

Growing up in poverty meant there was no holiday trip for him as a child and its something that's stuck with him, he's not a fan of travelling and has only been to France once with Minerva to wander the museums and appreciate their potion making techniques

Summer reminds him of Lily as that was when they would spend lots of time together and so he finds it difficult to see the flowers in bloom and appreciate things such as that which he may used to have done as a child

He refuses to ever go swimming no matter how hot it is, firstly because of his insecurity and scars on his body but also because he thinks that its dirty with all the germs in the ocean, lakes and even the everyday swimming pool

Being as pale as he is Severus always has to wear sunscreen and hates it with every fibre of his being! Its unwanted sensory experience and he despises it but hates the feeling of sunburn more so is forced to deal with it

He would always be wearing a pare of sunglasses as he prefers dimly lit spaces and the sun is clearly only there to irritate him

Hay fever also bothers him as he's so used to spending time inside that the pollen makes him sneeze and his eyes feel dry and puffy, another reason for him to stay securely locked in his dark dungeon

As a child he was forced to spend most of his summer days outside so now enjoys the comfort of being able to curl up indoors all day with a cool drink and a book or brew potions whenever he likes

Snape really wanted to deepen his knowledge about exotic magical water plants but refused to actually soak so he opted for an aquarium visit.

JK Rowling’s books are a building. And she stopped after creating shitty, waterlogged, deeply structurally unsound blueprints and half the scaffolding. Then left it to the elements (aka her Twitter), damaging it nearly beyond repair.

And the fandom looked at this, and put on hard hats. And they tore down that scaffolding, and took those blueprints and changed it into something that would work, and they built the most beautiful building you’ve ever seen.

The building JK Rowling designed was deeply flawed, it would never pass inspection, it would collapse under its own weight and lack of structural integrity within seconds of being built. The aesthetic design was tragic and hideous and offensive. But the fans looked at all of that, and said to themselves, “this building is fucked up, it will never be good if left like this, and everything about it is terrible and makes zero sense. But goddamnit, I have trauma and I can fix it because it must be done and no one else will.”

JK Rowling may have designed that original building. She may have had the initial idea. She may have built that unfinished scaffolding. She may have drawn those blueprints.

But this building is no longer JK Rowling’s.

summers sometimes meant weeks at the malfoy residence in paris. severus enjoyed the long quiet mornings, with no brats in sight (draco didnt count — he was used to that brat). during those periods, lucius and narcissa took it upon themselves to make sure that severus would eat proper food and on a schedule befitting any decent wizard. they kept a jar of marmalade and marmite and a canister of PG Tips always on hand, despite lucius declaring that that they were all utterly vile. occasionally they could get him to try something new, but toast, some fruits, and tea were severus’ standard and both narcissa and lucius made sure they were prepared and delivered to him wherever he was in the house, before they attempted to ply him with other things (a brioche perhaps? chocolat chaud? no? perhaps another day).
