Aoyama: "Sur-pri-se~!" Sero: "Amazing, Aoyama!" Satou: "Should we go look for the toilet?"
Nabana no Sato is a flower park situated within the absolutely massive Nagashima Resort. It has lovely blooms all year, and from October to May it claims to host Japan's biggest illumination event, including a 200-meter long light tunnel.

Tokoyami: "Art of the Flying Squirrel Black Shadow!!!" Mineta: "Imitation Caltrop!!" Edgeshot: "Abscondance" Hagakure: "Nin-nin! Hidden Hagakure!!"
They are at the Kōga-ryū Ninjutsu Ninja Village in Kōka city, the birthplace of this school of ninja-arts. I visited the Tōgakure Ninjutsu House in Nagano -- Tōgakure, Iga, and Kōga are considered the three main families of ninjutsu. These kinds of attractions usually have museums dedicated to the style's history and showing off tons of unique historical artifacts, but the main draw is all the activities for visitors to try their hand at being a ninja, shuriken-throwing, wall-climbing, rope-walking, etc.. Hagakure is making a pun, because her surname means "hidden leaves" or "hidden by the leaves" so she is "hidden hidden-leaves." Tokoyami is doing his Black Fallen Angel move, but it's much funnier to make it a giant flying squirrel attack.

Ashido: "You can't even see the sky through all the bamboo~!!" Yaoyorozu: "They say that the growing speed of bamboo is the fastest in the world. I've heard it can grow up to one meter in a single day." Mineta: "My whole height in a single day... I can't do this!!! Jirou: "Cheer up." Label on Mineta: "Mineta Minoru, Height: 1.08 Meters."
Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is a hugely popular tourist spot for its dense, soothing beauty. One meter is equivalent to 3 feet 3 inches; Mineta is just over 3 and a half feet tall.

Shouji: "Hyah hyah hyah hyah!!!" Fat Gum: "He's... he's moving too fast, I can't even see his arms!" Kirishima: "No, actually, he's got lots of 'em!"
They are making takoyaki, a famous soul food created in Osaka in 1935. It requires a large griddle with rounded molds, and chefs use two metal rods to rotate the batter rapidly. It's really fun to watch them make it, and most stalls put the griddle up against a full-length window to show it off.

Izuku: "Even cutting an onion... a hero... doesn't cry! WWUAAAH" Ochako: "What a shame! Challenge failed." Shouto: "No, even heroes cry when they have to."
Awaji Island is famous for its onions and produces some of the sweetest onions in the world. They have a spring crop of sweet but slightly spicy onion, and a fall-time harvest that they store and dry to further develop their sweetness. Shouto's line is from chapter 137 when Izuku insists heroes don't cry while crying into his food. What's funny is that sweet onions supposedly produce less of the chemical that produces tears in humans, so maybe Izuku is just being a lil' crybaby, hehe, but we'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's working with a particularly spicy spring harvest.
Nara

Iida: "Observance of traffic laws! OUTSTANDING, DEER-KUN!!" Kouda (thinking): "Iida-kun, you're making the deer suspicious..." Bakugou: "Don't talk to the deer!! Deer don't give a shit about rules!! Dammit!!"" Kouda (thinking): "Bakugou-kun, you're scaring the deer..."
They are in Nara Park, where you can buy special crackers to feed the very friendly and booming deer population. Deer in Nara have been protected and seen as important to local Shinto beliefs for at least a thousand years; in 2023, studies from three universities revealed that they actually make up a unique genetic group not found anywhere else. Apparently, the deer in Nara will exchange bows with people, especially if it means they get a snack~
Wakayama

Ojiro: "A two-tone popular character... We have one of those." Hagakure: "We do, don't we. Just by being there, he creates a splendid atmosphere...!" Todoroki: "Huh? There's somebody like that?" Ojiro: "IT'S YOU!!!"
Visiting Adventure World in Shirahama which is home to a giant panda conservation area. A branch of Chengdu Giant Panda Research Base has bred 17 giant pandas there, which is the most success in breeding outside of mainland China.
That's all for Day 4. Next up is Day 5!

MHA Class 1-A ProHero Headcannons
Because I wanna pretend Manga Chapter 362 isnt happening LOL. I was just texting these to a friend but thought I’d put them here too. So not too detailed or based on much, just for fun :)
Also I’m ignoring a lot of Manga stuff and spelling oofs. And ALSO also, two students dont get a happy ending :( just fyi.
____
Bakugou Katsuki: Bakugou wpuld be ranked #2 because theres no way he’s NOT gonna get to #2 if he can’t be #1
Eijiro Kirishima: He would be the #1 Hero
Izuku Midoryia: Deku would be at #3, and perfectly happy with it because he learns he doesnt need to be #1 to be the hero he’s always wanted to be
Shoto Todoroki: Todoroki, after spending a year in the Hero Industry, discovers his passion for police work and joins the police force. He realizes he’s never needed to be a Hero to help people, and he can follow his dreams his way
Ochaco Uraraka: Uraraka is the #9 Pro Hero(and 1 of 3 females in the top 10 rank)and takes part in a lot of sponsorships. Which at first made the public think she was shallow, and Uraraka thought for a while she was going to have to go on a super annoying talk show just to set the record straight. But then more and more photoage of her kindness and compassion in Rescue Hero Missions went viral and soon people didnt care that she was in so many ads because she was a good hero
Kyoko Jiro: Jiro is ranked #10, and is considered the most beautiful hero. Its un related to her work and rank, but the public has decided shes the most beautiful. Which actually makes Jiro really happy, because it gives her an outer confidence she didnt have in school.
Tsuyu Ausui: Froppy is not in the top 10 heros. However, on top of Hero Work she also stars in a childrens TV show :)) I just feel like she would LOL
Momo Yaoyorozu: Momo was on her way to becoming the 1# Hero, but only got to #5 before she left the profession. She went on to become a professional Financial Agent for Heroes trying to achieve personal goals.
Mina Ashido: Mina is the #5 hero
Tooru Hagakure: Hagakure is the #4 Hero, you could say she snuck up the ranks ;)
Tenya Iida: Iida is the #8 Hero. And while he of course works to be better and climb up the ranks, the world did eventually learn about the STAIN incident and he’s been having trouble with gaining public approval.
Mezo Shouji: Is the #7 Hero, and is considered a handsome hero. He’s super flattered because he was always considered creely looking. But now as an adult he’s considered mysterious and alurring
Denki Kaminari: Denki is the #6 Hero and is a huge role model for nerodivergents. It was a huge thing when he “came out” as having ADHD on live TV. It was when he was being interviewed after a mission and he kept looking all around. The reporter asked if he was looking for something, if there was a villain— but Denki just laughed and said “sorry i forgot my ADHD meds today!”.
Mashirao Ojiro: Ojiro became a teacher at UA for martial arts and self defense, and the students admire him for his soft and kind voice. All Might is loud(even in skinny form)and Aizawa can be harsh. Ojiro is the perfect balance :)
Fumikage Tokoyami: Tokoyami worked very hard as a Hero, but could never gain the public approval required even as an underground Hero. He and Dark Shadow went off the grid and now work as vigilantes.
Kouji Kouda: Koda works in more remote areas, a rescue Hero for natural disasters. He uses his quirk with the Local Wildlife that just can’t be found in the cities.
Hanta Sero: Works in very crowded and run down cities. Because he works in smaller yet packed places, he has a more personal relationship with the people he protects. Think spiderman
Rikido Sato: Because of his quirk, he wasnt liked very much. People thought he encorraged unhealthy diets, and that he looked big and scary. Rikido snapped after 3 years in the Hero industry, and is now a villain. He is known by other villians as loud and violent.
Yuuga Aoyama: An average Hero, but not a bad one. He often partners with Uraraka in advertisments and guest stars on Froppy’s kid show
Minoru Mineta: After watching a famous Hero become ‘cancelled’ for sexual assault, Mineta worked to change his veiw points. He’s making progress, but is staying out of the Spotlight just in case.
___
Ok I think that was everyone LOL. Again, these were just for fun! Not a lot of thought into them lol. Kay byyyye!

Alright, chapter 8! And man is there a lot to talk about here. I don’t really have any pre-content things to say, so we’ll just hop right into it today!
[No. 8 - Rage, You Damned Nerd]
I swear, this first page has a LOT to talk about on it, so I’ll go from panel to panel and do some rambling thoughts on each segment.
Tumblr media
First off, UA doesn’t actually handle the costumes the kids get! It’s support companies affiliated with the school that does - which makes sense, since the school has to focus on teaching their support students before letting them get their hands on actual costumes that these kids might be fighting in.
I mean, they seem to be allowed to practice on like, minor support stuff (read: Mei making Izuku his new gloves post-Nighteye or somewhere around there) but not full costuming, which is actually a bit reassuring? But also explains some of the lag time in getting costume repairs / upgrades since they’re probably busy companies. It also explains why there probably aren’t major alterations to any costumes besides between the summer and winter variants, since it would be time-consuming to remake these costumes so regularly.
(It still doesn’t excuse some of the costumes the kids got, but that’s more on the whole ‘eye candy’ thing for readers than actual practicality, so whatever.)
(Also, I can’t get over the fact that Snipe has a support company. Fucking Snipe. Guess we know another canon or likely-canon Support teacher.)
Next we get a preview of what the kids sent in for specifications for their costumes:
Tumblr media
We get a bit of insight into a few of the characters - as background stuff, we get Shouji, Mineta, Aoyama, and Sato. Mineta got pretty dunked on for char design and costuming, and Aoyama’s costume almost looks like a magical girl outfit like this, which honest to god would have been fantastic to see him in. More interesting (at least to me) are the other three: Ochako, Tenya, and Katsuki.
Ochako first, because that pressure point thing is interesting, and I dunno how often those actually come up in fics besides a passing mention, like. What if her support bracelets / neck piece broke during training / a mission / whatever? Would she suddenly have to fight through the nausea? By the point of current canon (War Arc) she’s probably trained enough that she doesn’t need them as much, but man, it could be an interesting little thing to explore, like, post-Kamino.
Tenya is a bit surprising, since we know he comes from a well-off hero family. Logically, this was before the whole Hosu / Ingenium plotline was really developed, so Tenya didn’t have that to fall back on, or it could be argued that the support company that Ingenium is associated with also works with UA. Alternatively, it could be that either Tenya didn’t want to rely on his family (which seems silly when they’d know how to work with his quirk best) or UA is very firm on ALL costume stuff going through them…
Tumblr media
But then again, Katsuki. Oh god, Katsuki. What fucking support company looked at this kid and went ‘yeah we should give him a way to store more explosives AND give him bombs’ and just. Did so. Why did UA not vet that. Maybe the support company didn’t realize how strong his explosions were without the gear, but UA, man, I just. I suppose they had no way of knowing how reckless he’d be with them, but honestly, after the battle trials, they should have been fucking yoinked from him so damned fast.
Anyways, onto other parts of Katsuki’s costume, we see he’s a fucking dork. Possibly what lowered their guard. ‘Something scary’ and ‘Dynamighte all over’. What the hell, kid. At least your designer stuck close to your design… including the huge-ass clunky gauntlets. Man, the Musketeer Trio movie poster ones are so much better looking and so, so streamlined. Works of art, they are.
Tumblr media
Moving on, we get a bit of a flashback to ~three weeks ago, which by the calendar would be around March 20th? So a few weeks after the Entrance Exam. And Izuku is only NOW getting around to updating the quirk registry? Izuku baby seriously, how the FUCK did none of the UA staff notice the ‘quirkless’ on your application form at any point before this?
But yeah, he’s worried about his registry, so he calls Toshinori, who explains the update process. It gives the example of someone who might alter their stuff with updated information, with one or two allowed - though major ones aren’t accepted. Toshinori then says it’ll probably be okay since he started with nothing, then tries to correct himself to ‘definitely’, only to get cut off because Izuku accidentally hangs up in a panic when Inko calls out that she’s home. Haha poor Toshinori, and poor Izuku, the two anxious dumbasses.
Anyways, moving on from that is Inko showing off the jumpsuit she made, with Izuku surprised. She admits it’s not the coolest, but she based it off of the design in his notebook (the one we saw back in chapter 1). She tells him she regrets giving up on him back then, and how he never quit regardless of her faith. She apologizes and says from there on she’ll be cheering him on with all she’s got.
Izuku’s narration notes that it’s a symbol of his mom’s love, and that he couldn’t wear anything else, even if it’s not ‘efficient’ or ‘cutting edge’. (Or even at all decent looking.) And it’s also hinted through the present thoughts on it that it’s meant to be an homage to All Might (the smile and the hair pieces) which is just such a dorky thing.
Tumblr media
We get to the wide-spread of hero costumes, which- wait a second.
Tumblr media
That’s Momo’s initial hero costume design???? Why did Hori not stay with that??? It’s a LOT better than the stuff we’ve seen her in later! Like, sure, it’d still be improved with the main opening being her stomach and not her chest, but this still looks like actual human clothing and not a sexy Halloween costume variant of her hero uniform. Fucking hell, now I’m even more mad.
Tumblr media
Tsuyu’s costume meets the approval of the discord server as basically ‘no changes needed’ asides from maybe the goggles being a bit bulky.
Tumblr media
Tenya’s costume, I’m sorry, I know it’s an homage to your brother / family, but were the additional pipes really needed? Also, the helmet isn’t a bad idea since he goes fast, and bugs in the mouth/teeth have to suck, but it just looks so damned Gundam-y I can’t help but laugh a little.
Tumblr media
Shouto… nah, too easy a target.
Tumblr media
Aoyama is Aoyama. I’m actually a bit disappointed now that it’s not a magical girl costume, but alas, I suppose even Hori couldn’t be that brave.
Tumblr media
Kaminari… I forgot he had that headset thingy.
Don’t really have much else to say about anyone else, so let’s move on.
Izuku bugs out a bit about Ochako’s costume/appearance, while she compliments his more practical looks and laments not being specific, saying it’s a bit too puffy and curvy for her. Which means it’s more the accessories which seem to be her issue with it over the main costume itself? Huh.
Anyways, after All Might confirms they’re all there, he notices Izuku’s headpieces, which are a match to his costume, and has to turn to muffle a laugh for how obvious a reference it is. Tenya steps up, asking whether they’ll be doing cityscape maneuvers again since it’s the same field used in the entrance exam. Izuku thinks to himself how cool Tenya’s costume is, while All Might explains that they’re moving onto step two - indoor anti-personnel battle training!
He explains what while villain battles are most commonly seen outdoors, statistically the worst crimes and villains are more likely to be found indoors. Confinement, house arrest, black market deals… the clever villains luck indoors to avoid heroes. Which is why the class will be split into teams of two and pit against each other, heroes versus villains style!
Tumblr media
Ah, Tsuyu. Calling him right the heck out, as expected. All Might then notes that in this scenario, the fight won’t be against disposable robots.
Tumblr media
This entire page is just fucking hilarious. The class and all their questions while All Might is shaking with nerves. The fucking cheat sheet he uses to try to get back on track. Him being questioned on the lot drawing, and shaking while Izuku accidentally ends up covering for him. I just. All Might was not prepared for this mess and it shows. He was doing so much better when it was the one on one stuff with Izuku.
But yeah, Izuku notes the scenario is like from a western comic plot, and he’s also the one who ‘realizes’ the lots are like when heroes from different agencies have to team up for emergencies without prior warning.
Lots are drawn, and we have our teams:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku’s so stressed out because he still can’t really talk to her, while she’s excited to be teamed up and calls it ‘fate’ that it happened. All Might draws the first two teams to participate, and… team Izuku and Ochako (as the heroes) versus team Katsuki and Tenya (as the villains). Both Izuku and Katsuki are alert from this development…
Which makes this a good point to cut off, since it’s halfway through and we got a lot of information to chew on already. Second part should be out this weekend (hopefully).

Dadzawa Week 2020: rules and instructions.
Hello everyone! From July 26 to August 1, this blog will reblog everyone’s art, fanfictions, moodboards, etc. that are dedicated to Dadzawa Week 2020! After all, goodness knows we need some good things from this year, don’t we?
Rules:
No NSFW. Sorry guys, but this week will be specifically PG-13 in terms of adult content. You are always allowed to make your own 18+ works, but it will not be reblogged to this account. Not to mention, this is a week dedicated to specifically parental relationships, so I’m not sure why there would be anything E-rated about it.
Keep things civil. If you wanted a content creator to dedicate a day to a different character than they chose, keep it to yourself. It’s their choice, not yours.
Get your work out there. Be sure to submit your posts to the “#dadzawa week 2020″ tag, and to mention this blog in your content! It makes it easier to reblog. If you do not see your work on this blog on the day it should be, simply send a DM and a link of your work, and it will be reblogged should it follow all the rules.
Write what you want. Except for NSFW, you are allowed to write as much angst, fluff, hurt/comfort, etc as you want in your own content. Just be sure to put the proper warnings on them so nobody who doesn’t want to see them winds up seeing them.
Have fun! This is the most important rule. Be sure to do what you want with the instructions, and to not pressure yourself into doing anything you don’t want to do. You’ve got a month to work everything out, don’t rush, and don’t stress yourself out!
Instructions:
Day 1 - July 26 - Eri
Starting things off pretty small. Make whatever you want, as long as Aizawa is being parental to specifically Eri.
Day 2 - July 27 - Dekusquad
Choose from Midoriya, Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki, Tsuyu, or Aoyama for this day, or even all of them!
Day 3 - July 28 - Bakusquad
Choose from Bakugou, Kirishima, Kaminari, Ashido, or Sero for this day, or even all of them!
Day 4 - July 29 - Yaoyorosquad
Unofficial fanon squad, I know, but the rest of 1-A had to be split. Choose from Yaoyorozu, Jirou, Tokoyami, Hagakure, or Ojirou for this day, or even all of them!
Day 5 - July 30 - Underrated Characters Squad
Choose from Kouda, Shouji, Sato, or Mineta (though, I wouldn’t call him “underrated”) for this day, or even all of them!
Day 6 - July 31 - Shinsquad
You all knew Shinsou was coming. Choose from Shinsou, Midoriya, Monoma, Kaminari, or even Ojirou for this day if you like, or even all of them!
Day 7 - August 1 - Free Day
Choose any character you’d like for this day. It could be someone from 1-B, it could be a hero, it could be a villain, it could be someone completely random.
And that’s it! If you have any questions, be sure to simply ask them and they should be answered shortly. If you could, it would really help to spread this around, so that way we can get as many people showing their creativity as possible!

Chapter 5 of Bury Them Deep is out!
Favorite excerpt:
Mezou’s body was a collection of tools that had somehow never seemed adequate or correct, despite having been honed for a singular purpose since he had been little.  It had been torn down and built back up countless times as different coaches had taken an interest in him, each seeing a different flaw that he needed to work on and improve physically.  He had done so dutifully, pushing down pain or discomfort as he forced his reluctant and, at times, traitorous body into obeying.  Their relationship was adversarial and painful and Mezou had never lingered too hard over himself in the mirror for fear that he would catch sight of the next flaw.

But Aoyama had made him into art, an act that made the creator inside of himself look in the mirror and reevaluate.
Random shit:
- so, I HC Shouji as genderqueer. Idk why but it's just where my mind goes. It makes for an interesting dichotomy, with this big strong dude in a super masculine sport who has only ever known his body to be a tool who just knows that it doesn't quite feel right. Granted, he’s also never been an environment where he has really been able to get into those details about gender identity. Basically, he’s a he/they who is comfortable enough identifying as a guy once he lets go of some of his more toxic biases and gets to play a little with his wardrobe and shit. This takes him YEARS though.
- "Sato gave the oven a fond pat, as though it were a pony and he was a besotted eight year old girl. " <- ngl that is one of my favorite lines I've ever written.
- Shutouts in hockey are when a goalie doesn't let in a single goal all game and they are rare. For freshman Shouji to post a shutout in his third college game against a good team and after taken 48 shots to boot... it's unrealistic. But this dude is GOOD.
- Kissing your goalie is indeed not a common hockey thing. However, after wins, pro teams especially tend to all line up to their goalie to boop them on the head or tell them they did good, etc. It is cute as fuck and very good and pure.
- Aoyama is a good dude and pretty fun to write. I made him Quebecois because, tbh, I've had way more experience writing and reading about Quebecois characters than French ones.
- Of course I had to put Tokoyami in a bird mask. Of COURSE I did.
- I also REALLY love this line: '“I mean, mostly just Shouji but yeah.  We’re dumbasses but we aren’t homophobes.”  Ojiro repositioned his monkey ear headband and gave a thumbs up.'
- one more fun fact, in the process of writing this chapter, I figured out that I am probably more of a she/they than I had thought so uh. Thanks fanfic?

Okay, so I’ve been binge watching A:TLA on like... a loop for the past week or two, because I love the show and ya know, nostalgia. And last night, my mind got to work on thinking “if the BNHA cast were in this universe, what kind of benders would they be?”
In other words, things spiralled and I accidentally made another AU. I don’t have all the characters placed just yet, there are a few I’m having trouble pinning down specifically. So, here are the couple that I DO have pinned down. (There are more than those that are on this list, but for now let’s just focus on the main cast members.)
First up on the list are the airbenders! And those confirmed to be airbenders in this AU are Ochako Uraraka and Tenya Iida. Here, having Uraraka be an airbender was a no-brainer. Her Quirk is the ability to make things float, which I think translates pretty nicely into airbending. However, with Iida... I’ve always associated speed with airbending. I think enhancing speed is actually a technique that airbenders use by decreasing the wind resistance around them or creating a current to propel them forward. So, with his speed Quirk, I thought that it could possibly translate into Iida using airbending to make himself go faster, something that his family is known for. That, and I love the idea of the brick that is Tenya Iida being constantly mistaken for an earthbender because of his physique. The other kids that are airbenders right now are Yuga Aoyama and Inasa Yoarashi. Inasa should be... ya know, kind of obvious. He is canonically an airbender in MHA. And I don’t know why, but Aoyama just gives off major airbender vibes to me.
Next up in the AU are the waterbenders! Our confirmed waterbenders are Mina Ashido, Tsuyu Asui and Shouto Todoroki. For Asui and Todoroki, I think the explanation here is simple. Actually, the explanation ofr all of them are pretty much simple. Tsuyu’s Quirk has a lot to do with water, so that was an obvious placement. Todoroki’s previous primary use of ice easily translates into him being a natural born waterbender. As for Ashido, my mind works weird. It automatically linked her use of acid and a couple of her movements in canon to being waterbending moves. Also, acid is a liquid. So... liquid-bending. Other waterbenders include Mezo Shouji, Ibara Shiozaki, and Tamaki Amajiki. For Shouji and Amajiki, it’s mostly due to the octopus aspect of waterbending and my mind linking that to their Quirks. It reminded me a lot of them in general personality-wise. As for Shiozaki, all I have to say is plantbending and leave it at that.
Following the order of the Avatar cycle, that means the next set of benders on this list are the earthbenders! And at least one of these should be kind of obvious, but for confirmed earthbenders we got Eijirou Kirishima and Hanta Sero. Kirishima was another no-brainer when it came to this. He literally turns into a rock. That just screams earthbender. As for Sero... I got inspired from Legend of Korra when it came to what kind of bender he should be. If you can recall, the metalbending members of Republic City police force would used spools of cables to sort of zip around the city, and that reminded me a lot of the way Sero moves around with his tape. So... we got a metalbender Sero! Other earthbenders include Rikido Sato, Itsuka Kendou, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, Mirio Togata and Yo Shindo. Shindo and Tetsutetsu should be obvious. Shindo’s Quirk literally allows him to shake the ground, and Tetsutetsu can turn into metal. For Sato, it was about the strength that’s often necessary to earthbend, and his Quirk when stripped to the basics, is enhanced strength. With Kendou, it’s a similiar situation to Aoyama. She and her personality felt like that of an earthbender. Stubborn and determined... That, and like with Sato, there was also the strength aspect to her powers that just screamed earthbender to me. Mirio was one I had trouble with because I kept bouncing back and forth between the idea of him being an earthbender or an airbender. Earth won out in the end, because I could easily see that helping with a translation from permeation -- Mirio can bend the ground so that it swallows him up and allows him to pass straight though solid walls of earth.
Following the earthbenders, with have the firebenders. And those confirmed to be firebenders so far are Katsuki Bakugo and Denki Kaminari. These guys were some of the first that I pinned down. Bakugo just screams firebender, with his explosive personality. That, and there’s an aspect of firebending that lets someone create explosions. So, obviously Bakugo had to be a firebender. With Kaminari, let’s not forget that creating lightning is also an aspect of firebending, and lightning is electricity. So, there we go for that one. Other firebenders include Shouto Todoroki and Nejire Hadou. OKAY. Before anyone says anything, let me explain. I know that I said I had Todoroki as a waterbender. And I do. He was born one. And before you ask, no. He is not the Avatar. I was going back and forth with what kind of bender he should be until getting an idea in my mind that would allow Todoroki to be both. That whole plot bunny is a very long one to explain, so I’ll save it for another post. Let’s just say that due to traumatic circumstances, Todoroki ends up with the ability to firebend when he’s fifteen. As for Neijire, it was a toss up between her being an airbender or a firebender, but I decided upon the latter in the end. It reflects the energy manipulation of her Quirk, as well as leaving traces of it behind. She can use the flames she makes to fly around, too.
And I know that this list mostly focuses on benders, but there are some nonbenders in this AU, too. Hitoshi Shinsou and Mei Hatsume are both confirmed nonbenders so far. Hatsume gives off the kind of vibe like... she doesn’t need bending to do things, she has her babies. Even if she was a bender, she wouldn’t use it often. Mostly for convicence purposes. With Shinsou, it came down to I really couldn’t see his Quirk working with any of the bending arts aside from bloodbending. But Shinsou’s too much of a good person to do that, so nonbender it was. It also fits with the train of thought that being a bender means that you can so much more than nonbenders. Which, I should note, is a total lie, but one that people choose to believe. Don’t worry though. Shinsou soon gets rid of that mindset with the help of another nonbender who I like to note, is a badass and ends up becoming Shinsou’s mentor.
And of course, you can’t have an Avatar AU without an Avatar. For this AU it’s obviously Izuku Midoriya. The story I have set up for him is that -- for some reason -- the Avatar Spirit had lied dormant in his body for the first fourteen years of his life. This lead to many (Midoriya himself included) to believe that he was a nonbender. That was until he and Bakugo were attacked by a rogue waterbender that tried to kill them, leading to Midoriya activating the Avatar State and in turn, bending for the first time. This is a feat that shocks everyone, even Midoriya himself.
And that’s pretty much it so far! I have a lot of ideas for this AU, so if you guys want to see more of it, let me know! I think the one aspect I mentioned earlier with Todoroki does need some explaining, so... if you guys want to know about that, I wouldn’t mind making another post about it.

Note
Only four members of 1-A remain (unless we're counting Mineta, and I understand if you don't want to deal with him) so WBMR for Sero, Shouji, Ojiro, and Sato
Only four? Weird, it felt like more...
Sero Hanta/Cellophane is now Acrobat Ace Sero, Assigned Gemstone is Goshenite, Essence is Air/Chaos (Creative);
He's the closest thing Wondaria will ever get of a Spidey equivalent (if you know, you know);
Partakes in yoga as a therapeutic hobby. It's also good exercise for his flexibility;
Even after the disaster, he still takes things at his own pace. But he says that he's working on some future plans;
This prompts him to be more creative and sneaky with his powers. He wants to channel his frustrations in a productive and more tactical way;
He tries his best to be supportive of those who were heavily affected by the deterioration of his homeworld;
Sero aims to find that perfect balance between adapting his new life as a Magi, and retracing his steps into heroism.
Shoji's comin' right up:
Shoji Mezo/Tentacole is now Mighty Multicole Shoji, Assigned Gemstone is Silver Rutile Quartz, Essence is Earth/Chaos;
He's yet another one who tries his best to keep his composure;
Though he faces his struggles with realism and reasoning. Heroism involves sacrifices, after all;
He's very mature and introspective, and believes that (almost) everything happens for a reason, hence why Wondaria rescued him and the others;
Due to his self-consciousness about his appearance, Wondaria's kindness and acceptance sort of threw him out of balance at first;
Is very popular with children. They say that he looks like a bat;
Alongside Jirou, his powers are also good for information gathering and dirt exposing;
Wants to solve conflicts without resorting to brute force, but will do so if the situation grows complicated. Just because he's calm, that doesn't mean he isn't angry on the inside.
Ojiro is next:
Ojiro Mashirao/Tailman is now Tornado Tailmaster Ojiro, Assigned Gemstone is Heliodor, Essence is Chaos;
He doesn't use wondarian magic a lot. Ojiro is more comfortable with what he already knows;
Although he's very curious about Wondaria's wildlife and outdoors, and is interested in learning more about it;
However, it does help keep his mind and body in check, which it's good for his training;
Just like Shoji, he's very popular with children due to his tail, and they always want to touch it;
Will demonstrate martial arts basics and self-defense to other beginner Magis if kindly requested;
Even if you're not a Magi, he may suggest you to learn self-defense techniques for worst case scenarios;
In general, he likes to be prepared and will help others to prepare themselves. Because if properly prepared, future misfortunes can be avoided.
Lastly, but not least important, sweetboi Sato:
Sato Rikido/Sugarman is now Sweet Prince Sato, Assigned Gemstone is Lemon Quartz, Essence is Chaos (Creative);
As expected, his hobby is cooking pastries and other kinds of sweets. It's what comforts him and makes others happy;
He's also fascinated about icing cookie decoration videos, and wants to replicate what he sees;
Feeling inspired by Wondaria's aesthetic, Sato aims to adopt a sweeter style to his new appearance as a Magi;
He also aims to be more balanced in action, so uses wondarian magic to develop healing abilities;
He becomes a kitchen witch, and all his treats acquire a special magic touch, powering up anyone who eats them;
It seems that as a result of the disaster, he wants to surround himself more with soft things in search of healing and comfort;
However, he's not one to be underestimated. His goal is to show everyone that soft and tough can be combined harmoniously.

Shouji Mezo X Reader Remember part 46
The rest of the night Shouji let Y/n lay on his chest and caress his face. She couldn’t get enough of the sight of his mouth and nose mask less. Shouji just ate up the attention that was more foreign than usual. He thought he did mess up his relationship with Y/n, but here she was happy as ever playing with his face.
 “I didn’t know you liked me that much.” She told him.
“I just...get a little overwhelmed with those feelings when it comes to you.” Shouji told her.
 It was so easy for her to say what’s on her heart with him. At least that just made things easier for him, knowing he didn’t have to have a master degree in body language to know what’s going on.
“Your teeth just came out like that, no braces or anything?” She asked him.
“Yeah.”
 She fell asleep on top of him as he rubbed her back. All he was sure about was that he was utterly in love with the minor to reform (full name). And that was just perfect. She drooled on his chest but that only meant this was one of the best nights' nights she was having and honestly she needed it.
 The next few weeks were going smoothly. The class was training for the provisional license and noticing that Y/n and Shouji were displaying more PDA than what they were used to. They didn’t really mind since the couple was happy and after everything that had happened, they wanted those two to feel good.
 Y/n didn’t go to the classroom as much since she was healing. She would stay at the dorms doing her homework and twice a week her physical therapist would come when everyone was in class. She did regain the ability to walk but was advised to not over do it.
 When the dorms were feeling stuffy, Tokoyami and Shouji would take Y/n out to eat because she would order for them. Of course with Aizawa’s permission. Not only that but she would have late nights with Momo as she’d study and Y/n would ask mind boggling questions like if someone had a shrimp quirk that gave them shrimp vision would their art be superior for being able to see more colors and how would it work for buying paint. Sato would bake for her and sometimes she’d pay for his supplies. Urakaka would ask her for flirting advice and it wouldn’t be helpful because it would never be things Urakaka would do “if you wanna impress a boy, put a lizard in your sleeve and show it to him.” Sometimes there would be a Bakugo vs Y/n face off, but her physical strength had taken a hit so when there would be attacks she’d go limp much to Shouji’s distress. Aizawa would have to remind Bakugo and Y/n to not physically fight often.
 “There.” Shouji said putting ice on a bruise located on her shin.
Y/n flinched at the coldness. She sat on Shouji’s bed watching him take care of her after Bakugo threw her into the couch, but had a bad landing on the hard part of the couch. They had an on sight fight relationship. They would use their words sometimes especially after a scolding. Most the time they just use their fists. It gave Shouji a better understanding of Y/n thriving on drama.
“Thank you.” she told him
Normally he wouldn’t be too afraid letting those two go at it, but Y/n was still recovering. If the situation allowed it, he would scoop Y/n up like a little pomeranian and take her away from Bakugo.  He wasn’t always that lucky.
“I just wish you two could get along.” He sighed.
“He just has a face I wanna punch repeatedly.” She told him.
 Yeah...he does.
“He might take it too far one of these days.”
“You don’t think I could take it too far?” Y/n asked.
 It hit him that he hadn’t seen Y/n use her quirk in awhile. Meaning she might lose control and use it or when she does use it she’ll be in a lot of pain.
“You haven’t been using your quirk?”
“I have for healing my body.” She told him.
 That would make sense, but she would have been recovered by now. Even the physical therapist has told Aizawa and the students not to let Y/n push herself. She was still too frail. She couldn’t even walk without crutches.
“What have you been healing?”
“My burn scars.”
Okay the story finally checked out. He felt a hand run through his hair, and of course it was Y/n’s.
“Thank you for always looking out for me.” She told him. “I wish I had something special I could do for you.”
 To Y/n, Shouji was a protector, looking out for trouble, and if trouble came he would still be there. But what could she do? Hold his face? Scratch his back? She didn’t feel like it was enough. Shouji mirrored her feelings, she was always complimenting him and when it came to firsts she was always showing her true emotions getting rid of any insecurity he could have. This was the least he could do, he wished he could avoid harm at all.
“You’re more than enough.” He told her.
 Shouji brought out his laptop to watch provisional license exams techniques in order to succeed. Y/n leaned against his arms and traced the veins. It was affection he could ever dream of but melted for. They were still getting to know each other and yet Y/n just knew how to please him like that. How her hands would rub his scalp or caress his face.
“I know you’ll exceed those judges’ expectations.” She cooed.
 He was insecure about the upcoming exam. From the sports festival, he got no offers from his performance. He had to go out and apply. His quirk was right there for the world to see, they didn’t need to dig deeper into him further. He didn’t look special to the world then he’s not sure if he’s grown much since then. He’s had more shit hit the fan, but the judges probably don’t care since he and his peers made it.
“You think I’ll get it this time?”
“Yeah, you’re already my hero.” That’s easy that’s because she’s his girlfriend so of course she would say that. “ you keep an eye out for danger and prevented me from getting hit by a car, not only were you able to save Tokoyami from the Bakugo’s kidnappers, you also went back into a blazing forest to save me even though you couldn’t have been a 100% sure I was there. You have top notch rescuing skills and good perception of your enemies as seen in your midterms.”
“Wow.” He said. “I was not expecting that.”
“Shouji I’ve liked you since I laid my eyes on you so of course I keep tabs on you and how you’re progressing towards your goals.”
And he still didn’t know what she wanted to do with her future. She was intelligent, no doubt. And she had determination and energy which not everyone saw, but he did. She was always making the best out of this situation. There was so much she could do. He felt seen by her, like she did truly know him.
“You could be a motivational coach.” He yawned.
Which is what she became when training for the hero license became the focus of the program. Y/n went to class more to “help” Aizawa but mostly to yell cheerful things to all the students when they made progress on ultimate moves or just landing a technique correctly. She even cheered on Bakugo, he told her to shut up and got the reply of “never Baku-Butts!”. Y/n was still on crutches which brought up a question for the class. Why wasn’t she healing herself?
 Y/n was a pretty great healer for herself. Aizawa knew this and so did the students. Her healing was beyond their expectations because she could even get rid of scars. So why hadn’t she healed herself?
 Aizawa had a theory or two that revolved around her quirk. She either hit her limit while fighting stitched face and just prefers to not damage herself further with a recoil, or she was traumatized by her quirk and just wanted to be done with it. Her body wouldn’t be able to store quirk injury in a state like this, it would overflow into healing rather than a different ability because Aizawa assumed that was where her mind mostly was to reduce her pain.
 Though the counseling services promised Y/n her data wouldn’t be shared, it was property of the school to keep track of. She wasn’t reacting or talking about things they hoped. When Dallas or stick face were brought up, Y/n would talk about how she wished she was stronger so that she wouldn’t worry everyone. Sweet, but didn’t seem valid. Aizawa did think Y/n was making close bonds with him and the class. Maybe the worry the class and he had was more of a hassle for her. Feeling like she owes the class and him vulnerability that is locked tight.
“You seem as happy as ever.” Aizawa said as he gathered his paperwork.

Just An Opinion 2
Alright, if you’ve read the first one, here’s another, even though I’m posting this right after the first one.
Koda Koji, also from MHA/BnHA. Because he’s also super extremely underrated.
1. I just want to throw this out there; Koda would make one of the most feared and powerful villains in the world due to his quirk. He can command animals to do things for him! He could probably wipe out the entire human race if he so pleased! But since he’s becoming a hero, I bet you he’ll easily make it to the top. Will he become the number 1 hero? Maybe. Would he want that? Probably not. But with his quirk, he would easily become and amazing hero. And imagine spy missions to gather information and such. Mice or bugs could just listen in and give him the information he needs. And full on battles? Did you know there are plenty of cats and dogs and raccoons and foxes and wolves and other animals that could live in the city? Raccoons are evil, k? You’d be so screwed against him.
2. He’s very shy and timid, and doesn’t talk much. He’s a big softie, and looks like he’d give the best cuddles in the world. Did anyone else watch My Little Pony as a kid? He’s literally Fluttershy. I bet you anything that if his friends are in danger, he’ll step up and save everyone. He has a heart of gold, and he’s very strong, too. He’s maybe the most adorable character in all of MHA, both personality wise, and appearance wise. I’ll fight anyone on this. Just imagine how utterly adorable he was when he was little! (Ooh, I need to draw that. Too bad I’ve no clue how to post art on this. Someone help).
3. It annoys me how people ship Jirou with Kaminari so quickly, but so few ship Jirou with Koda, just because Koda isn’t a stereotypical hot/cute anime boy. Now personally, they aren’t a ship I really pay much attention to (I do like the ship though. I think they’d be a super cool duo), but that’s because Jirou and Momo, and also because Koda and Sato. I don’t need to explain myself, unless someone asks and/or I decide to make another series about my ships. So. Yeah. Back to the point, people who judge others on their looks just kinda piss me off. Koda doesn’t need to be hot/cute, he just needs to be himself. (I mean, people like Shigaraki, so I don’t know why y’all so quick to brush off Koda. Like, wtf?)
4. He’s very supportive of his friends. He encouraged Jirou to do the concert, mentioning that it’s ‘well situated in the work of a hero’, which probably made her feel a little better about her whole ‘musician or hero’ thing. I imagine he’d be maybe one of the best friends anyone could ever ask for. He talks very soft and his voice is very kind and encouraging. I stand by the fact that he would be the voice of reason in arguments, and the best comforter. He’s the type to listen to you through all your worries and troubles, and help you face them. He’d be that one friend that supports you through anything you do, and would spend nights with you preparing for a test you weren’t sure of. He’s that one friend who you could trust to look after your pets, or who can always tell when somethings wrong. He’s that one friend that everybody wants. A friend that everybody needs.
5. Actually, during that last one, I started to tear up a bit, because I don’t have that friend (she moved away, and I’ll probably never see her again). I tend to be that friend in my friend group, but that means I’m left with no one to confide in that’ll listen and take me seriously and just really be there for me. Which makes me think that... maybe he feels that way too. Maybe part of the reason he’s so shy and not very open is because he is that friend, and can’t exactly confide in himself. So he stays shut off and alone. (I love complicated and sad backstories, don’t you? They really give depth to a character) But as we’ve seen, he’s started to get a little more social and happy around his classmates. Because he finally feels like he has that kind of friend too. (Can’t wait until I find that kind of friend again... why do they always move away? Has anyone else had that happen more than once? It’s the worst feeling in the world).
I know that last one was probably not canon, but he reminds me a lot of myself, so I just thought it worked. Horikoshi should have some episodes dedicated to investing in all of the side characters, like he did with Aoyama. Maybe he will, as filler episodes. I just get a vibe from a lot of the characters that they are so much more than meets the eye. Like Shouji. I really want to know his backstory.
Whelp, that’s all for right now. Might do another one directly after this, so if you’ve found this and are interested, stay tuned, because there are probably many more since you first found this. Probably. Thinking realistically. Because I have nothing better to do, and I find this fun.

Can you just imagine that class 1a probably has like soooo many followers on their social media
BAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH OKAY OKAY OKAY LET ME JUST SAY THIS, THEY WOULD ALL HAVE A MASSIVE GAIN OF FOLLOWERS BECAUSE THEYRE APART OF THE HERO COURSE IN U.A. BUT CAN THEY KEEP THEM???:
can keep them because they’re an influencer and verified:
mina - super cute page, has an aesthetic that changes every so often
hagakure - has had the same theme the entire time her account has been open, but her style changes and shes super interactive with her followers
aoyama - the boy is a literal celebrity in my eyes, his posts never make sense, but theyre aesthetic and no one can take that away from him, expect lots of selfies a pro-aoyama posts
tsuyu - heAR ME OUT!!!!! SHE IS SUPER CUTE AND INTERACTIVE AND SHE POSTS ABOUT HER FAMILY ALL THE TIME!!! its not just her account its the Asui family account
iida - bAHAHA I SWEAR HE WOULD BE SO INTO IT!! HE’LL TRY EVERY PRODUCT PEOPLE SEND HIM AND ITS A INSIGHT OF THE LIVELIHOOD OF PRO-HEROES PEOPLE LOVE HIM OKAY!!! his hands drew attention to him
can keep them, but only because they have a specific theme:
koda - his socials are all animal pictures from animals he comes across and owns (he has the most followers, fight me)
sato - this boy is a fitness page with a bunch of sugar sweet dessert recipes that are GOD TIERED
jirou - punk goth girl aesthetics with a bunch of bands that many people cant help but admit are hella good???
tokoyami - most people follow him because he’s a walking unintentional meme, posts about the darkness make everyone laugh. its a great time.
kaminari - you guessed it, meme central. most people eventually forget its an actual profile and not a meme page whenever he posts a photo set of him pranking bakugou for the likes
midoriya - everything you need to know about heroes are here, loses a bunch of fans because of this but will also gain a shit load for it as well as heroes going out and following him because he has analysis that is actually super good
shouji - has those alternating posts between his work out sessions, a new octopus picture he found, and how to become a great tracker. the octopi posts are the best
sero - its a weed, prank, and slime blog. its allllll goood
can keep them because they eventually forget they follow them, but still appreciate what they put out:
yamomo - your weekly content of #superyachtrichkidlife!!! her pages are the most put together but doesn’t post enough to get into the influencer spot
ojirou - posts mostly about his cool ass sick ass martial arts moves that never fail to get his followers attention, buts he’s just a once every three months person so people are like “what is this” when he posts and then they remember
uraraka - she trIES SO HARD but she’s just so busy with everything else that she forgets to post a lot of the time, expect her to follow back a lot of the people that follow her and she always likes and comments on peoples things
can keep them although no one knows why (cuz they’re hot)
todoroki - has posted twice. because the girls in the class begged him to upload everything. is probably verified and has the most liked posts. follows a lot of endeavor critics
bakugou - actually pissed off that he has as many followers as he does, especially because he reads the thirst comments, but is secretly proud of it. live streams him kicking kaminari’s ass after getting pranked
kirishima - doesn’t really know why he has so many followers. all he does is post pictures of him and his friends and the occasional many post-workout pictures
cant keep them at all
mineta - daily rankings of the top 10 hot girls he saw??? only perverts follow him.

Background Boys Week guidelines
Here’s a quick and simple guide to participating in Background Boys Week.
1. Follow @backgroundboys and #bgbweek.
2. The event will run from Monday May 27th to Sunday June 2nd. A list of prompts will be posted shortly for each day of the week.
3. Post your work (fic, art, crafts) on the appropriate day, using #bgbweek.
4. This account will reblog all works posted with the bgbweek tag.
That’s it!
You don’t have to post every single day. You can post a mix of fic and art - whatever takes your fancy. You’re free to re-post your own work anywhere you please.
Who are the Background Boys?
For the purposes of this event, we’re referring to Kouda Kouji, Shouji Mezuo, Sato Rikido, Ojiro Mashirao, Tokoyami Fumikage and Aoyama Yuuga. They’re characters who have very little fan content dedicated to them, or who tend to be only in the background of both the series and fan works.
Do I have to include all six of them in my work?
No, you don’t have to include all six. But at least one should be the focal point or the main character (by which I mean, if you described the work to someone else, they would be the first character you named).
Can I include other characters besides The Background Boys? / Can my work ship one of them with a main character?
Sure. But one of our six should be your main character. For example, artwork of Class 1A giving Sato a homemade birthday cake would be fine, as he’d be the focal point of the work. But Sato holding a birthday cake in the background of art showing Midoriya’s birthday, not so much. The aim is to put at least one of the six boys at the centre of the work.
I don’t want to write/draw/make anything, but I still want to help out!
It’s helpful if you reblog either this post or the following prompts post in the run-up to the event in order to get as many people involved as possible. After all, the aim is to celebrate the characters and put them in the spotlight for once.
You can also offer to beta-read someone else’s work if you like - use the #bgbweek tag if you post to offer your services.
If you think I’ve missed anything important (it’s my first time running one of these events!), do let me know and I’ll do my best to fix things.
Keep an eye out for the prompts post, and if anyone feels like making a fancy banner or icon to help with promotion, be my guest!

meet me halfway to your heart
note: part 1 of the sorta sequel of tear the walls down, don't be stupid that i wrote for mmjr week 2018!
weird characterizations, quirkswap au and momojirou abound! anyway here are the who’s who:
bakugo - momo todoroki - tokoyami deku - kirishima jirou - ashido kaminari - tsuyu aoyama - shouji kouda - shinsou sato - sero ojiro - hagakure uraraka - iida
ao3 link! | fic masterlist!
i.
It starts with an announcement.
“Cultural Festival preparations. Go wild.” Aizawa’s monotone voice didn’t echo like it usually does after an announcement, if only because most everyone erupts in cheers over ideas that they’d like for 1-A to do for the supposed festival the very moment Aizawa’s hand signaled the end of his part of the discussion. Iida and Bakugo are up front in that instant (as Aizawa slinks into his small corner, ignoring the chaos around him), all the while getting everyone to settle accordingly (to no avail, rambunctious as class A was).
Class A is loud in the mornings, a fact only strengthened by the amount of complaints Iida gets from other classes in other buildings about the noise levels that come from their classroom. Even their dorm is no exception — they’ve already decided to set up a mailbox for complaints that Iida and Bakugo have to go through each night. It isn’t a pretty sight to see them, both president and vice-president, hunched over mountains of papers of other students telling them to keep their explosions and general ruckus down.
They were apparently noisier than the support students, which was saying a lot.
But really, it’s to be expected from a class housing Yaoyorozu and her infamous temper — which is the lead cause for all the noise from their side of the school, along with the antics that follow her around.
And because of that (and more), Kyouka’s glad she doesn’t have Ashido’s quirk, especially in moments like this. But then, watching her classmates stand and pull attention to themselves, watching the pink-haired girl effectively make everyone look at her, Ashido is also one of the louder students of their class, so really, it feels like her little thought means nothing.
Well, Kyouka can be loud too, but only on topics that carry her interest.
A festival barely touches any of her hobbies. Well, not yet. She isn’t about to bring up the one idea swimming in her head though, so she simply listens to her classmates and their increasingly absurd activities instead.
“Maid cafe!”
“Who said that??”
Everything (from shouting to chatting to ignoring ideas) ends with Aizawa’s pronouncement that they’ll likely have a seminar if a decision hasn’t been made until the next time they talk about it. So it could be tomorrow, or three weeks later. Even on the day of the festival itself, if they dare test Aizawa. Faces fall at the thought of having a seminar. Even Bakugo frowns, and he had the strangest idea to have a study session .
Hours after the fact, everyone’s still raving about what they might want to do, groups holding their own brainstorming session in hopes of finding that one idea to rule them all. Kyouka’s group (that is, her, Ashido and Kaminari) have ventured to watching Herotube videos, making do with vine compilations that they can maybe try? For the festival?
Her friends are idiots.
You’re an idiot too, you know. Her brain supplies, unhelpfully, as they watch a certain dish soap video for the seventh time in a row. Kaminari and Ashido have taken to quoting it, and with Kaminari’s perpetually straight face, it becomes all the more hilarious a sight.
They could do that. A comedy show.
In English? Nah. Bad idea.
Unless you tell Present Mic and not Aizawa-sensei?
Still, Kyouka laughs at their antics, making sure to loop the video again — maybe watching it one more time will give them an idea?
.
.
.
It doesn’t but at least they’re having fun.
ii.
Surprisingly, it’s Shinsou who gives them the much needed push to settle on a mini-concert slash rave, walking by just as the trio watch David question why Johnny has nineteen bottles of dish soap, with Johnny retaliating that David should mind his own business, that it’s his life (damn). Kyouka notices Kaminari fidget in his seat when Shinsou points at the autoplay thumbnail, where they can see purple and pink strobe lights flash across after hovering over said thumbnail.
Ashido brightens up at that idea at once, and she wastes no time in roping half the class into agreeing on it. Her enthusiasm encourages most of them at least — Kyouka’s certainly enthralled by how hyperactive Ashido’s become with the idea of a concert.
Actually, she’s giddy in her seat as well. Her idea is given form (verbalized by both Shinsou and Ashido), and Kyouka makes it a point to share her own thoughts that she’s well aware can help them with their show.
Kyouka adores music, what with her musician parents and their currently touring band ( The Alien’s , all five members pink-faced and ready to take on the younger generation with their post-punk pop/rock hybrid style). Kyouka would be with them, mashing keyboards and strumming guitars,  but she’d rather be a hero.
The class erupts once more in cheers, but now with the goal of performing for their schoolmates in mind.
This is actually the beginning of the end for Kyouka, but she doesn’t know about that just yet.
 iii.
 “So we need to pick people for the band,” Ashido says three days after their disastrous homeroom planning, two nights after the decision to showcase a mini-concert (courtesy of one perpetually sleepy Shinsou, who’s currently nursing a baby kitten in his arms), twirling one of her jacks between her fingers as she mumbles, deep in thought. Kyouka only half-listens to her friend, watching some sort of commotion happening within the kitchen instead, attention span stolen while Ashido continued to murmur about a song she’d like someone to hear.
Said someone is probably asleep in her own room, but really, Hagakure has always been an early sleeper compared to the rest of Class A. Something about having gotten used to her schedule at home, where she’d honed her body to a rigid timetable because of her dedication to her martial arts.
Maybe that’s why Ashido’s so smitten with Hagakure.
Said commotion, meanwhile, is really just a shouting Yaoyorozu, berating one of the boys because they touched that one cup she used that came all the way from France… or so she had said. Kyouka doesn’t know really the specifics of it other than they aren’t allowed to touch that one cup (but then someone touched that one cup and now, Yaoyorozu’s rage is an eruption waiting to happen).
Which is curious, because by this point she should be thoroughly done with the boys and cursing at them or crushing them beneath the soles of her sneakers, instead of just mildly talking to them.
Okay, well, shouting is definitely not mild in anyway, but considering who was shouting, it was still a subdued reaction.
Well, whatever. All Kyouka knows is that Yaoyorozu is pretty. She’s pretty when she’s angry, she pretty when she’s not. She just a very pretty girl that Kyouka’s been staring at for the past thirty minutes now, without ever knowing that her eyes have glazed over and her lips have turned into a smile not quite different from her usual ones.
Oh geez, she can feel her cheeks heating up just from thinking about it. That Yaoyorozu’s pretty? Yes, that’s it brain. That Yaoyorozu’s really pretty. Now stop that.
Ashido nudges her, and when Kyouka glances back, clutching her poor side from Ashido’s pointy elbow, she sees the girl wiggling her eyebrows. And really, Ashido only does that when she’s teasing… oh, oh great, was she that obvious?
“You kinda are,” Ashido tells her, laughing as Kyouka’s face brightens three more shades of red, unknowingly having said that out loud, “but also your heartbeat speeds up like crazy when you’re looking at Yaomomo, you know?” She pokes one of her jacks for emphasis, where it’s haphazardly laying beside Kyouka, slithering away now that it’s been caught red-handed.
Jeez.
Kyouka lets out a frustrated sigh, thumping her chest for betraying her like that. It only makes Ashido laugh even more, leaning into Kyouka’s space. Her earphone jacks proceed to poke the poor girl while they both watch as Yaoyorozu quiets down with the promise of a new tea cup, courtesy of the ever brooding Todoroki.
As the boys cheer for their savior, Kyouka’s mind screeches to a halt. Something in their interaction makes Kyouka frown, and the girl beside her shifts her weight, staring at their two recommended students.
“Can you imagine Kyouka? Yaomomo and Todoroki together?”
She mulls over it for a moment. Not that she needs to. “Them? Not really? I mean, Todoroki’s just so… Todoroki and Yaomomo’s—”
“The sun, the stars and the moon of my life that I wouldn’t want to be snatched away by the master of darkness?”
“Mina!”
“Kyouka!” And she’s once again laughing, while Kyouka’s holding her head in her hands. Defeated. Utterly bested. She’s usually just as hyperactive herself but when paired with Ashido, her own personality dips down because Ashido was a force of nature that no one should ever try to face on their own.
Flustered, Kyouka huffs at Ashido, turning their conversation back to their first topic. A not-so-subtle change that Ashido allows, even as her eyebrows are still wriggling in Kyouka’s direction, victory prevalent from the smirk on her face.
“Shouldn’t you look for members for the band? We still need a drummer and a pianist remember?” Kyouka says a little too loudly, an attempt to drown out Ashido’s still giggling reaction.
It works, at least, because Kirishima’s head appears from behind the sofa upon hearing that, pointing his chin to this left, “Oh hey, if you’re looking for a drummer, Bakugo here knows how to play!”
And like a rehearsed set, the demure Bakugo lifts up his own head, immersion with his book broken by Kirishima having called his name, “Ah, yes, I wanted to learn to play the drums. It’s nothing much, really.”
Bakugo playing the drums was something they couldn’t imagine, not from the soft-spoken teen. But his smile is far too wide to be kidding (and anyway, he was too honest to lie), so Kyouka thinks that she’d like to see him play a song. Maybe later, when he isn’t so busy with his book.
“And there you have it! Just a pianist and we’re all set!”
Todoroki appears behind Ashido as she all but shouts, having fled the kitchen where Yaoyorozu was making a new cup to nurse her growing disinterest of everything that’s been going on around her. Probably? Kyouka’s attention (yet again stolen) is spent looking at Yaoyorozu’s movements, fluid and practiced, so she doesn’t hear Todoroki’s words until Ashido’s (again) shouting.
“Yaomomo! You can play the piano?”
Kyouka watches as Yaoyorozu’s hand stills above her cup, eyes flaring with annoyance.
“You dipshit,” is the only thing she says, looking straight at Todoroki as he hums, ignoring how Yaoyorozu’s hands have started to pop out small explosions.
And yet, ever the brave soul that he was, Todoroki ignores those said sounds as he settles beside Ashido. “Dark Shadow and I are in agreement — broaden your horizons and engage with this class once in a while,” he pauses for a beat, before adding, “Plus, you’ve been complaining about those lessons for years. At least let me have the enjoyment of hearing your ‘supposed’ skill.”
“Why you!”
The back and forth that occurs between Todoroki and Yaoyorozu is nothing short of awe-inspiring. In one way, everyone knew that they’ve been friends even before coming to U.A., and as well as being recommended students, were closer than any one of them could be. But in another, watching Todoroki brush off all of Yaoyorozu’s angry cursing towards him is a brave enough story to feature on a daytime show. It’s just that amazing.
Or maybe it’s because he keeps on saying he wants to ascend to the heavens (or some other metaphor for death) and Yaoyorozu’s probably the only person who can do that. Kyouka’s not sure what’s going on in Todoroki’s mind anyway.
“It’s at that moment when she found out that she was fu— oh wait, cursing is Yaomomo’s thing.”
Someone slipped to sit beside her, with Ashido having left her seat in favor of bothering Yaoyorozu, who, in turn, is pestering Todoroki (who had been pulled out of his seat during Kyouka’s little daydreaming) about ‘spilling the beans’ of her apparent knowledge of piano playing.
“Who are you talking to Kaminari?”
“The audience.”
Kaminari sticks out his tongue to point at their door, left ajar by Uraraka as she fled the scene before anyone could coerce her into joining any dancing committee. Which is too bad, because Kyouka knows Ashido would have liked to see everyone dance.
Well, Ashido will be pulling Uraraka back soon. Ashido will be pulling everyone into their performance soon enough.
For now, she focuses on how weird her friend is and how pretty Yaoyorozu is.
iv.
Yaoyorozu’s phone rings in the middle of class one day.
Everyone stops doing what they’ve been doing, hearing a soft, classical tune (of Gymnopedie No. 1, Kyouka will find out after a little research) suddenly playing within their classroom. Kyouka’s gaze wanders towards Yaoyorozu, because that’s where Ashido’s looking at, and people trusted her hearing enough to know that she’s intrigued at hearing something so… calming coming from their explosive classmate.
Yaoyorozu huffs, looking at the screen of her (very expensive) phone, muttering a curse before answering it.
Good thing Aizawa’s not in the room.
“Good morning, mother.”
It’s… shocking to hear her speak so politely.
Kyouka’s eyes sweep their room, and looking around, notice everyone gaping and slack jawed towards Yaoyorozu’s direction. Except for Todoroki, who’s expression was more subdued (though Kyouka can see the subtle smirk on his face, as if he’s expecting something).
“Yes mother, no mother I didn’t take out the battered jeans. Hm, no mother, I’m not going to that party. Yes mother, I know he’s asking but I don’t want to go up to those fu— fudging people.” And it’s also shocking to hear her censor herself. Half of the class is looking at Yaoyorozu like she’ll flip her table over their heads any minute now. But she doesn’t, because it looks like she’s engrossed in her conversation.
“Who told you that? Oh, oh , the son of— I see. Thank you mother. I’ll make sure to thank him for that. Yes, yes, I love you too. Please send me that new set you bought from Italy. Uh-huh, the black with golden outlines. Sure mother, I will.”
And when she sets down her phone, she whips her head to her seatmate, seething.
“Did you seriously just tell mother that I’m playing for your shitty band?”
Todoroki, for all this posturing about not having emotions, allows his smirk to grow — and for the first time in their months together, class A bore witness to a teasing Todoroki Shouto.
“Yes.”
Yaoyorozu blinks, dumbfounded. Everyone’s expecting an explosion, but it never comes. “That settles that!” Ashido shouts just to break the silence that’s filled the room, and everything around Kyouka devolves into chaos.
All she can think about is how Yaoyorozu’s red in the face. Whether from embarrassment or anger (or something else entirely that she doesn’t want to address), Kyouka doesn’t know.
v.
Yaoyorozu’s addition to the band completes the set.
So they start practicing.
Fortunately, (and apparently, based from what information they can gather from Todoroki), Yaoyorozu can’t really turn down a request from her mom, after having been allowed to go to UA for her schooling. It was a compromise, he said, though the details were kept secret even from him.
Dark Shadow zoomed in and out of her peripheral, adding little snippets of stories about the three of them growing up.
It’s weird to hear them from Dark Shadow, of all… people?, but the stories paint Yaoyorozu in a better light than how they all thought of her during their first few weeks together.
Dark Shadow’s stories make Kyouka imagine what it would’ve been like to grow up with Yaoyorozu. She can’t seem to get it out of her head, tales of blasting a guest’s face because they insulted Todoroki, hiding behind cupboards to evade tutors, running from their parents to avoid etiquette lessons but failing and going through with it anyway , because they were heirs to their family legacies and it was expected of them.
Compared to her own upbringing, filled with music and constant praise for her various hobbies.
She wonders, not for the first time, if it was lonely living like that. During the days Todoroki and Dark Shadow weren’t with her and she’d have to accept the inevitable as the heiress of a large conglomerate.
Then again, when explosions rock the foundation of their dorm, the thought flies away. Yaoyorozu has always been in charge of her own life, regardless of everything. Maybe that's why she's in a hero school now, training to be number one instead of trudging through a management course.
Maybe that’s why Kyouka's so enamored with the girl, who pushes towards whatever she wants, doing what she has to in order to achieve it. That Yaoyorozu isn't just a pretty face and a powerful quirk — that her drive to be the best pulls in the everyone around her, including Kyouka —

If every class 1-b kid had to partner up with a 1-a kid (reasons: whatever you decide), who do you think would be paired together?
Awase/Shouji Kaibara/OjiroKamakiri/MinetaKuroiro/HagakureKendo/MomoYui/UrarakaKinoko/TsuyuIbara/KaminariShishida/IidaShoda/SatoPony/SeroTsuburaba/JiroTetsutetsu/KirishimaSetsuna/MidoriyaFukidashi/TokoyamiHonenuki/TodorokiBondo/MinaMonoma/BakugoReiko/KoudaRin/Aoyama

I like this concept ! Awase + Hagakure: Invisible girl keeps the enemies’ attention on trying to pinpoint her location so Awase can weld them as he wishes. Pretty cool combo isn’t it ?
Sen + Ojiro: close range, nice martial arts. If they can get close to their enemies, hand-to-hand is their speciality ! Pretty boys together form a nice duo.
Kamakiri + Mina: they’re both close range and kinda acrobatic. Basically murder on the dance floor. Slash and splash. They also are both competitive and energetic, from what we’ve seen !
Kuroiro + Aoyama: strange choice, I agree, but interestingpair ! How would they balance light and darkness to use their quirks fully ? ((Aoyama would make awesome distraction with his laser for Kuroiro to sneak up and end the enemies just saying))
Kendou + Shouji: smart girl with great martial knowledge and great strong octopus. Shouji can help to look around and pinpoint locations, and Kendou gets plans and strategies. Nice duo.
Yui + Tsuyu: big Yui can help the frog. Small Yui can be carried by the frog. Two strong women, good camouflage too, interesting way of getting them both to think of how their quirks can go together.
Kinoko + Kaminari: if she spams her mushrooms everywhere and he indiscriminate charges everyone who can defeat them ? No-one. Humidity + electricity ? Don’t need much voltage to electrocute someone with that combo…
Shiozaki + Todoroki: both crazy strong, and must take in account that Shiozaki can protect herself if Todoroki unleashes. Your time has come. Let them judge you, and send you to burning hell or frozen heaven with a nice vine cocoon. Shoda + Tokoyami: well… don’t know Shoda’s quirk. But it seems he is more of a close range fighter, whereas Tokoyami relies more on Dark Shadow. ((Poor Shoda terrified from the birb))
Pony + Iida: sonic + my little pony. Long range is taken by her horns, close range is taken by him. If the enemies are too far away, let Iida kick them to Pony. Let her stab. Let him go fast.
Tsuburaba + Ochaco: Is there even a rational explanation ? Two cuties, round faces, Urararararaka could make solid air float to places Tsuburaba wouldn’t atteign. Take floating people by surprise with solid air ! Nobody saw them coming…
Tetsutetsu + Kirishima: run in and see how it goes. Great hard-heads. Honestly would love to see them fight together…
Setsuna + Shoji: annoying small parts of body… Small animals and insects… Push the enemies’ to their physical and mental limits. Tire them out. That could work well !
Manga + Satou: big big fire capacity and strong arms to finish people off. Manga isn’t great at hand-to-hand, so Satou is here to balance that.
Reiko + Midoriya: ok, Reiko’s quirk is kinda unknown. But… I just think they’re nice.
Honenuki + Mineta: if you’re stuck somewhere, you can’t escape from the softening. What’s more, if Honenuki goes full on, as Mineta is small he can be carried around can he not ? Get trapped. Immobilized.
Rin + Jirou: she can pinpoint people’s locations, if she is capable of giving directions precise enough Rin can snipe them. She’s more of a long range, can save him from tricky situations with her quirk, and he’s an ok close range too, with his scale protection.
Monoma + Momo: seriously, Yaomomo’s quirk is so complex and cool that I guess manipulating it must be tricky. How could Monoma pull it out ? ((Since he is pretty smart, it should be fine but… could get hungry very quickly and lose stamina easily.))
Bondo + Sero: sticky quirks together, but with different capacities. I think they’d form a great capture team !

I like my hero academia so much so fUcKInG much. For the ships? Nah. For the art? Well yah but nah. For the writing and plot? Yah and nah but the main reason I love it so much is
CHARACTERS
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
SIDE CHARACTERS WHO MATTER
OLDER/ELDER CHARACTERS WHO MATTER
VILLAIN CHARACTERS YOU CAN FEEL MORALLY CONFICLICTED WITH
THE CHARACTERS THE CHARACTERS THE CHARACTERS THE CHARACTERS
Do you all know how amazing it is what Horkoshi has done? He has created so many sife characters that get so much love. We saw it with Shinsou when he made his debut. Everyone DEMANDED more even Horkoshi considered bring him back and still is. Why? Because he makes each character like the main character of their OWN STORY.
Each character can EASILY be a main character and I mean easily. So many things happen off screen that we never see but know happen
Iida's physical therapy and visits to to his brother
Kouda's shyness slowly wearing off and becoming more open
Kirishima battling himself and his insecurities and fears
Ojiri's strength and pride his sense of rightness
Aoyama's attempts to be the best and outshine everyone but being left behind
Tokoyami's struggle with dark shadow
Todoroki's family past
Jirou's goals and ambitions
Momo's strive for strength and self confidence
Mina's optimism and determination
Kaminari's improvements and endurance
Bakugou's superiority complex
Hagaurake's hope to be noticed and application of her quirk
Sato's endurance training
Shouji's insecurity based on his looks
Uraraka's physical training and combat skills
Tsuyu's strategy and skills and life
They all have their own stories their own plots aside from the show, in that universe they are real people living their lives and working hard and with shows like this most of them end up like Naruto. Side characters are easily thrown away and just server to assist the main character or be a love interest or be a villain but MHA doesn't do that. Each character has a purpose and a story away from Midorya and All Might.
The villains as well have story and plot even the side villains
Mange is a transgender woman who wants justice
Spinner is a man who wants the hero world reformed like Stain
Dabi has his same goals but his secret motivates
Twice is mentally unstable with split personality
Toga is also unstable
But they all are so important they don't just stay behind to deal with the hero's While the main villain leaves: Toga can camouflage and infiltrate private grounds by taking the form of a student or staff, Twice provides distractions and dummies, Dabi provides cover fire and long range attacks, Spinner and Mange are their tanks. They serve a purpose with the main villains
All these characters have development or WILL get development later on and I'd die for them all
