Master Post Bridgerton Live Event Season 3

Let me just say so much of what they said leans into exactly how I pictured it.

○ Some words to describe the season: Shonda-"intimate" / Jess B-"confidence" / Luke Newts-"unexpected" / Nicola-"romantic" / Luke Thom-"zoom in"

○ They talk about Colin's words last season and say it was a good place to start in the story/journey; confirm apology will come

○ Pen has 1 main suitor besides Colin who takes a real interest in her (Spoiler: it's Lord Debling)

○ Julia Quinn said it is a good friends to lovers story. She sounded so excited!

○ Someone (either Shonda, Julia or Jess) said they have some good awkward banter.

○ Julia Quinn really confirmed the Colin-Pen hand scene (1st real emotional and physically intimate scene for them)

○ How Jess B talks about Colin (again) gives me hope for his personal journey-mentioned about the 3rd son "not knowing his place in the world" & more

○ They talked about how the show has changed their lives-Claudia said she always walks away proud of what she's done and essentially there's not one part of the job she's unsatisfied with. aww; Adjoa said "a space for everyone"

○ Season 3 is "for the wallflowers"- Adjoa [they mentioned this a lot; the interaction on this between Adjoa and Nicola just made it seem like there is Lady Danbury-Pen relationship]

○ Nic and Newts recreated the pic in the mirror with candle stick!! what?! / They also watch fan edits and send them to each other

○ Easter egg in almost every episode according to Jess B. and they are "raising the bar on visuals"- "even brighter and more spectacular than ever"

○ Superlatives: most like character-Luke Newton; least-Golda; most bloopers-Johnny Bailey or Claudia (and I think she was offended at first, lol)

○ Chaos in Featherington fam because Pen steps out (Portia doesn't like when Pen changes from her citrus dresses)

○ Nicola "didn't expect to be as emotional as it was" from the first 2 episode screening

Infatuation

summary: the one where you somehow travelled into your favourite tv show along with your family. and as you debut in society, you catch the eye of a certain duke.

part ii

shonda rimes was nothing short of a goddess in your eyes for her casting abilities.

you’d been obsessed with the books ever since they came out and the second you’d heard of it being picked up by netflix you screamed so loud your family thought you’d died.

it was the release day of the first season and you had to meditate before watching since your heart was absolutely running hundreds of miles inside.

you’d settled into bed, had your favourite snacks to your side and your emotional support water bottle clutched in your arms as you pressed play.

you’d overestimated the power of meditation to calm you down, and underestimated the power of warm cocoa.

you’d dosed off after the second episode, and you were aware of it as it happened. the sounds of your favourite show lulled you to sleep and you’d never felt happier.

but after a while, you’d realised the sounds never really faded away, they became, stronger?

the sounds of the bickering bridgertons echoed through your head, preventing further sleep.

what the fuck?

as you opened your eyes, you felt, energised.

and as you rolled over you couldn’t believe your eyes.

daphne bridgerton by your side?

“y/n, are you alright?” she questioned as she closed her book, giving her undivided attention towards you.

you reeled your shock back in as you cleared your throat, “uhm, yes, i’m alright. where are we?” daphne smiled at the question, “we’re at my home.”

you nodded as you took it in, you fell asleep last night in your own bed and woke up in your favourite book, great!

this was quite literally the epitome of all of your daydreams and you couldn’t believe it was happening. you took into account that if you were with daphne you were most likely good friends with the bridgertons, you looked down and saw your nightgown, definitely not the same pjs you wore to bed, your hair was in a braid, and-

“since you’re finally awake, let’s get ready. i’ll send the maids in! i’m so excited and nervous for today y/n/n. this is our day!” she gushed as she allowed the maids in.

our day? this most likely meant that this was starting of like the first episode. oh god, you were going to meet everyone. anthony, benedict, violet- oh god you loved violet.

the next hour was a blur, maids everywhere, millions of dresses, hair pieces, jewellery sets and so on. you’d settled on a (obviously) white dress, with a diamond like waist details, puffy sleeves, gold details/flecks around the sleeves, a tiara, bracelets and a sweet yet simple necklace. daphne had on a similar dress, but the details were different and she wore a feather in her hair.

gods, she looked amazing. the two of you stood in the middle of the mirror, clutching eachothers arms as maids touched up your hair. “you look phenomenal sister.” daphne spoke to you admirably. over the hour you realised many things, the two of you had been friends since kids despite your age gap, your mothers being the best of friends and the same for your fathers, and since hers passed the two of your families had only grown closer.

your own family were very well-known amongst the ton. your father, being marquess of anderton, lord y/f/n l/n and your mother, lady y/m/n l/n, and your brothers, eldest son, earl of anderton lord b/n, and lord b/n. then you, the youngest, lady y/n l/n.

your brothers were also best friends with the bridgerton brothers, your eldest and daphnes, your second with benedict and colin due to their shared/similar responsibilities as second/third sons. but they all got along, nothing happened in the bridgerton family without you knowing and nothing happened on yours vice versa.

you all usually visited eachother whenever, living not too far from eachother. your town home being larger than theirs, and anderton being an three hour ride from london, your country estate being much larger. you were wealthy as hell and you loved it. not that you weren’t back home, but obviously nothing like this.

you still couldn’t tell if this was a dream. usually in your dreams nothing seemed as realistic as this, and you had free reign of your body, you controlled your body, nothing odd had happened, no floating unicorns, no random nightmares, nothing. all realistic. and despite your age gap of of roughly four years, yourself and daphne got along well, she at first saw you as a younger sister and soon enough, her best friend.

even if it was a dream you’d take as long as you could here.

as the doors opened yourself and daphne stood proud and happy. the nerves dying down after you reassured one another.

your mother and lady bridgerton stood infront, teary eyed. “our girls! you look-” “breathtaking.” anthony cut his mother off as your families stood, shocked.

daphne squeezed your arm as you walked forwards, you were so relieved to see your family looking all the same, just a change in clothes, and it was odd. everyone looked so- regal! somehow your brothers had cleaned up.

“enough fussing! let’s get going now.” daphne spoke as you all made your way down. “are you going to marry a princes sisters?” hyacinth squealed as you and daphne laughed, “i wish! we do not know who we are marrying yet sweet hyacinth, that’s what the social season is for, to meet people, make friends and to meet the person you’ll marry. soon enough you’ll be in our position and you will have a line of suitors waiting for you.” you answered sweetly as she grinned from ear to ear before it was struck down by george.

“don’t lie to her! the men won’t be lining up to get to her they’ll be running to get away!” he joked as hyacinth gasped, “how dare you?!” she shouted as she chased him down the steps. for some reason this all felt, right. you felt like you belonged here. once you’d gotten past the initial shock everything just came to you so easily. the manner of speech, how to act, what to say etc.

maybe it was due to your constant daydreaming of being here but it was so easy.

“kids slow down please! you will hurt yourselves!” your mothers shouted at the same time. you were all one big family and you loved it. it was like double the love, and whilst the bridgertons may not have had their own father with them any longer, your father did his best. he spent time with the brothers and sisters, giving the support they needed, doing what he can for the children of his best friend, his family.

you had really underestimated the chaos of the bridgerton family.

you were surprised your own mother wasn’t greying in the hair at the constant bickering and fighting. but at the end of the day you knew everyone loved eachother. but right now you wanted to lunge across the carriage to strangle your eldest brother.

“it’s no big deal.”

“you’ll be fine stop fussing.”

“what’re you worrying for.”

as if this wasn’t one of the biggest days of your entire life. you had to make a good impression upon the queen, god knows the gossip in this town else wise would drive you into a hole.

“i am sorry sister, i should do well to remember the seriousness of today, i apologise.” he responded, reaching across to grab your glove-clad hand, squeezing in support.

“we should all remember the seriousness of today. but do not worry, our dear y/n will do well, i believe it wholeheartedly. you are sweet, confident, intelligent, understanding and so much more my daughter. you will find a good husband, someone whom you love preferably. but otherwise a good man, someone deserving of such an amazing woman as you and it doesn’t matter if you do not marry this season either. there is always the next. if you are not ready you should say so now.”

you’d never seen your father so absolutely understanding. you would’ve thought. especially in this day and age that he’d press you to marry but no.

“eloise has postponed her debut has she not? would it be alright for me to do the same? at ten and eight she will debut and so will i. i fear i am still to young, a lot of the others are older and know more than i.”

“no one knows more than you dear sister.” your other brother spoke up with a smile, “besides eloise of course.” he said as you all laughed, “very well then. we do not have to explain ourselves to anyone and i will send forth someone to relay the message to the queens servants and withdraw your announcement card. and i am not against the idea of keeping you caged up with us for another year. the dread!” your father joked as you all laughed.

the debut had gone better than you could’ve wished for. besides a fainting or two, and you having to endure prudences whining and complaining. the queen seemed to favour daphne and you could not have been more thrilled for her. the two of you chatted everyone’s ears of at dinner to the point where you were separated from sitting together, which did nothing as you both spoke from across the table!

at home you were restless.

your room was much larger than your own.

but you loved it nonetheless.

you couldn’t help but continue to think, you hadn’t woken up yet, you’d literally spent an entire day here, and you hadn’t awoken. you’d pinched and slapped yourself which earned you a few strange looks from the maid that you’d forgotten was in the room and nothing. you hadn’t woken up, annoyed at leaving the bridgerton world.

what you were most excited for was to meet more people if you woke up tomorrow. penelope slipped through your fingers due to lady featherington fussing over her, lady danbury hadn’t been seen, you hadn’t been able to visit madame delocroix nor anthony’s opera singer and perhaps the most disappointing of all,

simon.

you had the fattest crush on him, especially after seeing him in the show. if you woke up tomorrow, you were going to make sure to see everyone you’d missed.

and at the top of your list.

a certain duke.

and if you’d known what would happen once you met him you would’ve steered clear of him.

That The Sun article is freaking me out!!!! Why they gotta make Colin a rake?!?! Why?!? 😭

I can say with so much certainty that Colin isn’t a rake.

And I wouldn’t worry about The Sun article if I was you. For a couple reasons.

1. The Sun is not reliable and is known for clickbait. And if I remember right they’re the ones who wrote that Shonda had to rewrite s3, bc of a dark storyline. Which we later found out wasn’t true at all.

2. The whole article just screams clickbait. It looks like they took quotes from other interviews and put it there. As well as taking things that happened in seasons 1 and 2, and making seem like it’s for s3.

3. It goes against everything we already know about s3. Lol so when would Colin even have the time? He’s gonna be to busy with Penelope and helping her find a husband. Before slowly figuring out he’s in love with her.

so. . .angry rant is angry

but

this is. . .the WEIRDEST fucking fandom I have EVER been a part of.

like. . .most other ships would be justifiably upset by a ship they were into that had 0 love triangles suddenly having not 1, but two. every ship I have been a part of has loved both their characters. every ship I have ever been a part of would be fucking FURIOUS that some random OC was created SPECIFICALLY to spite half the pairing.

and y'all were SO mad about Marina that hate fics are STILL being written about her, but y'all will slobber all over this white man OC like he's the best fucking thing that ever happened to Penelope, as if Colin, the guy who has cared about her without ANY expectation or pressure, is somehow The Worst. But let's hype up the OC. Yeah. Let's justify why it's GOOD, actually, that we got yet another triangle (sorry, HINGE, because if it was an actual triangle, Debling would be trying to get into Colin's pants, too!). One that is even more cozy than the S2 one was (what's the closest Anthony even GOT to Edwina? certainly not with his hand on her waist leaning in all up on her business).

Noooo, we need Pen to be DESIRED! We need Pen to be the DIAMOND! We ship Pen with OPTIONS!

I ship Pen with COLIN, though. And I thought that's what we were doing here, but evidently not, because all these posts? Not Polin. But they're tagged Polin. Pebling is a tag. Use it. Spare those of us who actually ship this pairing. Because we're MAD.

Debling didn't have to happen. His existence isn't good writing. He's there because Shonda doesn't even LIKE Colin, but she HAS to have Polin as endgame because they have such an enormous fanbase, and the backlash would be career ruining. They kept the season on the shelf for two entire years, have relegated one of our leads to the sidelines (don't even TRY to tell me they haven't shoved Colin off to the side), posted promotions of this OC/Penelope bullshit (half for rage-bait, congrats, I'm there, and half to appease all the fans who have talked shit about Colin for 2+ years), and we are EATING IT UP.

Oh, this fanbase HATES Colin. You can't convince me otherwise. Y'all have spent 2 years talking about how you want him to grovel for ONE STATEMENT, how he's the worst guy in the entire show because he's entitled and takes Pen for granted, you haven't talked about ANY of his good traits, you want him jealous, you want him punished, you want him miserable, and you want Pen to be rubbing it in his face. You don't even want these things for his GROWTH, but instead for Penelope to have 'vindication'. His own love story isn't even about him. Some of y'all out here like 'oh, Colin's off screening doing something dumb in that still'. Flooded the POLIN tag with other Pen pairings, talked down to people who actually like Colin and have been concerned about him having a storyline or proper promotion (which he has no real evidence of getting, the man isn't even on the POSTER), say this is. . .what? retribution? for when Colin was interested in someone in S1, except, hm, oh yeah, NO ONE WAS ASKING FOR COLIN TO DO THAT!! No one was out here like 'Hope Marina makes Penelope sooooo jealous that she just HAS to step in and have him for herself'. No one was out here fucking SHIPPING THEM. But y'all are. In our tag. Without any push back.

AND IT WASN'T EVEN HIS STORY!!! It became PEN'S! Pen pining. Pen aching. Pen trying to break them up. Pen talking to Marina. Pen scheming. Pen agonizing. And we didn't fucking like it.

But this Debling bullshit? STILL NOT COLIN'S STORY!!! Still Pen's! Pen being pursued. Pen getting attention. Pen making decisions. Pen having a narrative.

Colin gets nothing. Has gotten nothing in this fandom and the writing for YEARS. Will continue to get nothing.

Y'all say you ship Polin but the instant any other dude walks into her line of sight, it's 'Colin whomst?'. Y'all say you ship Polin, but you also ship her with Debling, Michael, Dankworth, Anthony, Benedict, Anderson, Fife, random potted plant, dude in the background, Phillip, Jesus Christ himself, etc etc. She is this fandom's OOC Bicycle whenever it happens to suit us, so I'm not surprised.

Yeah, fucking block me for that, I don't care.

Most of y'all don't ship this couple. You say you do but you don't, not really. Because if you did, you'd be upset that Polin is losing screentime for this. You'd be asking where half your ship is. You wouldn't be settling for 'oh, he's off screen somewhere'. You'd want more of Polin's moments. Their tenderness. Their messiness. Their alone time. You'd be asking why this was necessary. You'd be wondering where Colin's growth is, where his story is. Y'all are content with crumbs. Colin could be a disembodied hand jilling Pen off at this point and you'd be happier for it because you clearly don't care that he isn't here.

The reality is- I have been SCREAMING about how this fandom doesn't give a shit about Colin for years now. Friends of mine have been bullied off this fandom. Story after story that was about punishment and revenge was written. Anything outside the status quo? Instantly spammed by mean ass anons. Luke Newton was harassed. His ex partner was harassed. His friends are being harassed. Luke Newton has said this fandom has taken their frustrations out on him. A real life person. Just trying to do a job.

And being shafted whilst doing so.

Why should he promo this shit? Huh? It was meant to be his season and it isn't. That's clear. It's so clear that to say otherwise like y'all are kidding yourselves.

I'm tired of this fandom culture. I'm tired of the Pen Standom being a placeholder for Polin.

I SHIP POLIN!!! Polin! As in Penelope AND Colin. As in MY OTP!!! As in the couple I want seasons and seasons of! I want Penelope to grow outside of Male Validation. I want Colin to be a fully rounded character who exists outside of Penelope. I want them to grow TOGETHER. I don't want this random suitor ass nonsense. I didn't want it from jump and I don't want it now. I will never want it. I do not care.

I continue to be the polin black sheep, but I CALLED THIS. I called it. And I hate that I did. I hate it. I saw this was the direction it was going back when our 'can't wait to see him groveling, screaming, crying, throwing up for Pen' bullshit was blowing up. Other ships see it. Other fans see it. Shonda calls him stupid, we call him stupid (yeah, you can say it's 'affectionately' all you want, I don't believe you), every damn time it's 'omggggg chill outttttt Colin will have his time'

Y'all don't WANT him to have his time. You want him to be a sexy prop. And congrats, that's evidently what you're getting.

Just like. . . just finally acknowledge it. Y'all aren't here for the pairing. You're here for Pen. And fine, that's your prerogative, but then just stop acting like you're here for the ship. Stop posting shit in the tag for the eyes and attention. You ship Pebling. Whoopdee doo. Use. Their. Tag. Pen/Someone Else is endgame in your fic. DON'T TAG POLIN. Colin sucks, he doesn't deserve her, he should grovel- You. Don't. Ship. Polin.

I am tired. I love Colin as a character, and a few of us do, too, and we deserve a safe place for that. And we can't even get it in his own fandom. We can't even get it in his own tag.

Random Thoughts on the Queen Charlotte series

It was near perfection. I’d give it a 9.5 out of 10. The 0.5 mark down would be for three reasons:

1) Nobody asked to see Lady Danbury incessantly humped by that toothless grandpa known as her husband. NO. BODY.

2) There was a little sloppiness transitioning from Charlotte’s outburst to Princess Augusta (which was justified - she just found out about her husband’s mental health issues) to writing him letters and seemingly wanting him back - I wanted to see more of her thoughts as she went through this phase.

3) You can’t introduce a character, make us fall in love with him, and then just ghost us about his whereabouts. What happened to Reynolds?

There was also some sloppiness with the Adolphus/Lady Danbury thing they had going. Like I didn’t really see their connection/chemistry. It felt very rushed. But I didn’t care about that storyline so I’m not taking off points for that.

We got a DRY spell sexy times wise in season 2, but QC BROUGHT the 🔥🔥🔥! That Even Days episode rivals episode 6 of season 1.

The reason I can’t quit Shonda is that she does one thing better than any other show runner out there currently. She knows how to find leads that have insane chemistry. We saw it on Grey’s and Scandal. And we definitely saw it with Charlotte and George.

It was heartbreaking AF but such a beautiful love story.

You went through all the emotions but you still laughed.

I did not have Lady Danbury having her first O with Violet’s dad on my bingo card. But I was surprisingly OK with it.

Even though it was apparent that Lady Danbury was little more than a possession to her husband, she really had his back. She was supportive AF, but I cheered with her and her maid were excited about his death. Ding dong the witch is dead.

Life for women was bleak AF back in the day even for royals. Princess Augusta alluded to a lot of crappy stuff she had to deal with.

Let me get all philosophical for a moment. Watching that doctor’s “treatment plan” for George was horrifying. What are our doctors doing now that will horrify people in the future? (Methinks it’s the overprescribing of certain pills but that’s a rant for another day.)

Brimsley and Reynold’s loyalty and investment in their king and queen was really heartwarming to watch.

This show had me crying like it was an episode of This Is Us. Stop it. But don’t, cuz I loved it.

I’m sure more thoughts will come to me. But I loved this show. For a spinoff, it’s better than the original. I was expecting it to be on par, but it surpassed it.

A note on fictional emotional cheating

First of all I want to start this post by saying that I am not the morality police, I am not judging anyone for what they consume, except myself, I'm judging myself just a little bit.

But I did want to talk about something that has made me increasingly uncomfortable lately. I was going to say something about the romanization of emotional cheating in media and how Netflix shows aimed at the kind of demographic that they think would watch things like the After series, the to all the boys series and most recently the 'my life with the Walter boys' series, is so filled with emotional cheating, they might as well have a entire category for it. because the whole boner Netflix seems to have for love triangles usually involve the main characters being emotionally unfaithful to people they have made a serious comitment to, at the very least.

And then I realized writing about that in this particular blog would make me a hypocrite. Because the whole jealousy trope that I love so much, 80% of the time hinges on whichever main character I'm fixated on, dating someone else to make their true love jealous.

Did it make me uncomfortable to see Daphne emotionally cheat on prince Friedrich, literally 5 minutes after receiving a token of his commitment to their courtship?. (girl was kissing another guy right after accepting his suit) yeah it kinda did. Did I get super mad at Anthony for basically dating Edwina, while he was pining for Kate the whole time. Yup, I was mad at him. You all know that if it had been Simon who put those diamonds in Daphne's neck and she was kissing some other guy ten minutes later, we would be up in arms. Same as if it had been Kate who Anthony had been courting for the whole season only to find out he's secretly wanted her sister all along. We would be massacring them. But since the emotional cheating didn't happen between the two main characters, it's sort of permissible?

Like, I'm having the uncomfortable realization that not only are my favorite characters not good people, the show basically says Daphne and Anthony are allowed to cheat on people they have made a commitment to, and nobody has called them out on it. Furthermore, it seems to be an acceptable pattern for Shonda and Netflix at large. I mean, we could go trough all the Netflix library of Romance genre, and find at least one instance where the main characters emotionally cheat on other people because they're just so in love with each other.

Which makes me uncomfortable about season 3. Because I want Colin to grovel and I want Colin to be jealous, but I don't want Colin to make Penelope cheat on someone she's made a courtship promise to, just because he's horny. So how can you have a successful jealousy trope without emotional cheating? the most logical answer would be to have every character be single and flirting with each other but not outright in a formal commitment right? but then... where is the drama? where is the spice. If our main characters are not doing morally questionable things for love.

Maybe it's because I'm growing older, maybe it's because I'm currently in a committed relationship myself, that emotional cheating in fiction has become a little bit more apparent to me. And I seriously want to know what is up with Netflix not being able to conceive a love triangle where emotional cheating isn't a main plot point.

It's another day of a quick dinner while updating my studyblr before I get ready for ballet and head out for dance. I feel like there is a lot going on this week. A look at my upcoming week: robotics course tomorrow, impromptu Girl Scouts meeting on Thursday for World Thinking Day (it's a homeschool troop, so we can meet during regular school hours for special meetings), I have a history project due on Saturday along with another cookie booth, plus I'm really amping up with my piano studies now to prepare for my practical and theory exams in May. I'm going to try to fit another hour of practice somewhere if I can, even if it is only one or two extra hours a week.

Tasks Completed:

Geometry - Reviewed Pythagorean theorem + learned about the distance formula + practice + learned about the midpoint formula + practice + honors work

Foundations - Read the definition of punctuality + played 5 minute mystery + learned about begging the question, appeal to nature, and anecdotal fallacies

Piano - 60-minute piano lesson + practiced for one hour

Okay, let's talk about it. On Monday, Dec 11th, it was leaked that Bridgerton Season 3 was being split into two parts between May 16th and June 13th.

I'm honestly not that surprised since Netflix has been doing this, especially after the strikes, so they have no lineup and will probably continue to do this for the foreseeable future. They just recently did it to the Crown with part one releasing in November and part 2 releasing on December 14th. It's all a numbers game, honestly.

Taking a look at the lineup for the first quarter of 2024, it seems Netflix is taking a gamble by releasing the anticipated live action remake of Avatar the Last Airbender in February. This doesn't surprise me that Bridgerton, a proven and reliable numbers puller, was pushed back to the second quarter because of this. Also, it seems Netflix has picked up a new habit of releasing big shows in the second month of the quarters.

Now, for my personal feelings on this, it honestly doesn't bug me. I have other shows to watch, and I've got the books and fanfiction too. The shows I watch right now are once a week releases, too, so I'm good. Though I'm surprised, Netflix hasn't tried to pull this yet since I know they've done similar in the past. But again, to me, this is several numbers games that Netflix is playing. They're still a corporation, and they're still gonna try to make the most amount of money possible. They've found a way to get two months out of people for subscriptions if they're like me who don't have a Netflix subscription at all.

I do like, though, that this split does have the potential to the fandom marinate on it a little more and will be talking about it. So that will be a fun time when we get to it.

I do wonder if Shondaland might have shot itself in the foot, though, for any plans of future spin-offs like Queen Charlotte. Queen Charlotte was basically taken on as another season of Bridgerton, and in my opinion it was always meant to be that way due to the fact that they admitted that we would have to watch Queen Charlotte to understand certain things in season 3, rather than what it is, a spin off. Good for Shonda for being able to make her own story in this universe, but now it is running interference with the main show. Which is disappointing because Shondaland knows how to run a main show and a spin-off at the same time. Your spin-off should not interfere with the main show.

We'll see what happens. Plans are already in motion, so it is what it is. I'll just be in my little corner until it's time to rise up from the grave.

Once more I’m quite unsure as to why everyone feels the need to ignore the source material. Season 3 not being about Benophie still boggles my mind because why???!??!! Not to be a hater but Colin is uninteresting and unattractive (no hate to the actor he’s just not my type) to me. And I personally can’t stand Penelope (once again no hate to the actress) so I’m not really interested in this season tbh. On a side note there is a possibility to make Sophie a illegitimate granddaughter of Charlotte especially since in Queen Charlotte she says along the lines of how there are 50 illegitimate grand babies that [she] the crown ignores.

I know what you mean anon. Nothing against either of the actors playing the characters or the fans who like the ship, but Polin just isn't my cup of tea.

We all have our faves and mine is Benophie. I’m a Benophie and then a Franchael girl through and through.

That being said, despite me being a Benophie girl I don’t mind that they’ve skipped over Benedict. I mean I was initially pissed the hell off about it, but I think I understand now why Shonda did what she did.

This is gonna sound nonsensical, and weird, and is probably going to piss someone off(lol I’m the queen of that apparently👑), but there have been back to back to back interracial couples in Bridgerton.

I’m almost positive Sophie is going to be Black(🤞🏽) and while this show prides itself on diversity, I think they wanted to give white audiences a bone. So for that reason, she chose to push Polin’s season ahead.

Plus I think Shonda sees herself in Penelope(writer, “working woman,” the wallflower, and hater of other women💀).

I’m kinda glad she did push Polin’s season forward given what happened with the strike situation…

I do not mind waiting another two years for Benophie. I’ll “suffer” through this season for them and who knows, this season may surprise me and I may end up loving it 🤷🏽‍♀️

Now regarding, Sophie’s parentage, it would be interesting if they made her an illegitimate grandkid of Queen Charlotte and see how she has to deal with that. How the queen interacts with her, as well as the rest of the ton.

(I don’t think that in this scenario her being a bastard would be hidden or not common knowledge).

I know some people aren’t too fond of Sophie being Black🙃 a maid while Benedict is who is.

Her being QC's illegitimate granddaughter would be a way to kinda pivot from her being a maid while keeping the fact that she’s a bastard without a proper place in society.

I feel like the former is less important than her being the latter. She’s more than just her employment.

Sophie has to deal with the fact that she was robbed of a proper childhood, protection, financial security, love, and a sense of belonging. Yet she still manages to be a kind considerate human being with staunch morals and principles.

(I love girls who’ve been through so much, but still manage to survive and thrive. I blame Jane Eyre).

As long as Shonda tackles those issues and we see Benedict falling head over heels for her(even when he thinks he’s fallen for two different women🤣)I’m good with whatever happens.

The show has already made a lot of changes to the book. Some good some bad, but making Sophie one of many bastard grandchildren of the crown makes the most sense and has the potential to be the most interesting(for me at least).

As some of y'all know, I'm rewatching some episodes of Grey's because I'm clearly a masochist. Some observations:

Even though I talk mad shit about Shonda, I am forever indebted to her for bringing one Jesse Williams to us. Thank you, ma'am. I am forever in your debt.

Christina Yang was the shit. Truly, the SHIT. They should have just hung the show up once she left. Brilliant. I still miss her.

Back to Jesse a moment. Man, Avery was a dick when he came aboard. He turned into the soft, teddy bear, comfort character. I forgot he was an acerbic prick. The change wasn't character development, though; it was more like the writers just had a change of heart and wanted us to all forget what happened before. *Tsk tsk tsk*

I never liked Reed or Charles. They were such assholes. They were so unlikable, I didn't even care when they bit it. (I mean, they're characters. I'm not that horrible, IRL, lol).

Watching Karev get dumped by Izzy again... makes me incensed over his ending all over again.

“I did a bad thing.”

The force of the sigh that came from Shonda could have sent a lone vessel over a hundred miles out to sea as Hannah sat down with her on the couch in the bar they were at, wondering what on earth it was this time.

“White girl, when I need to start taking beta blockers for all the fucking heart palpitations I regularly receive from your antics, I’m sending you the bill!” Lifting her ice-cold beer to her lips, she took a good, fortifying glug, Hannah sipping at her vodka and cranberry before placing the glass down.

“I had sex with Manny.”

Shonda’s eyes widened, reaching to place her beer down on the table, Hannah having to guide her there when her attempts only made the glass come into contact with the thin air. “Pumpkin!”

“I know!”

“He’s engaged!”

“I know! But if it counts for anything, he isn’t happy with her.”

“That doesn’t make it right!”

Hannah groaned, hiding her face behind her hands for a moment. “I’m aware, and I know this is me being me, again.”

“Imma need this beer back, shit.” Lifting her glass, Shonda all but drained it, burping discreetly behind her hand. “Excuse me. Right, back to Manny. Oh, I swear for lord, your impulsiveness is going to be your ruin one day, Hannah Elizabeth Gray. You get yourself into these situations every time, because you just can’t stop yourself.” She took a breath, realising that the time for admonishing her had come and gone. “So, how was it?”

Hannah closed her eyes for a second, and it flashed through her mind, the night of sexual perfection they’d enjoyed, the aftermath even sweeter when after she’d fed Lola in the early hours, they’d all lain in bed together, the baby between her parents, looking between them as she played with her feet. It had been beautiful, just the three of them. A little family.

“It was amazing. I swear, maybe if he wasn’t so criminally good in bed, it might not have happened, but he is, and he’s gorgeous, and he told me that he’d missed me, and he made me feel beautiful again! And then we just lay there with the baby a few hours afterwards, and it was perfect,” she explained, resting her hand beneath her chin. “And I can’t have it, because he still went back to Carmen.”

Shonda was puzzled. “Were you expecting it to be something else, then, rather than the bad thing you alluded to?”

“I don’t know, no... yes... I mean...” She paused to gather her thoughts, taking a swig of her drink, the alcohol helping her focus. “I didn’t think to begin with, I just went with it. We wanted one another and I didn’t go into it with any expectations, but he kept telling me he missed me, and it was so fucking... it wasn’t just a mindless, brutal fuck. It was beautiful. And then lying there with Lola afterwards, I felt like something had shifted. Something significant.”

“So, how did you guys leave it?” She felt this was the next most pertinent question to ask.

“Well, it wasn’t awkward, but we made no mention of it. He left at 6am and I won’t hear from him now until he comes to pick Lola up on Thursday. I don’t really know what to say to him about it, how to tell him, that I think I want it to be more with him. Because no matter that he told me about how he isn’t happy at the moment, and I heard why, she called him when he was at mine and gave him hell for deciding to be there with me instead of going home to her, I still don’t know if that definitely points to him wanting to be with me. It was on the night of that huge storm, that it happened,” she explained.

“Right, right,” Shonda nodded in interjection.

“And so yeah. Everything she feared would happen actually did, he ended up cheating on her with me. I do feel lousy about that, I do. He’s someone else’s fiancé, and it was wrong for us to just fall so easily into bed with one another, but, but, oh, hell...”

Shonda rested her hand on her shoulder, softly stroking her skin with her thumb. “He’s the father of your child, someone who, no matter how briefly your first coming together was, you have a connection with.”

She nodded, feeling a little teary, Shonda quick to pull her into a warm hug. “Yeah, that’s it. And now I’ve messed it all up.”

“Just talk to him,” she advised, stroking her back fondly. “Because if he feels the same about you, then you might be doing exactly what he did for you; saving him from marrying someone he shouldn’t be.”

Meanwhile, across town, someone else was settling in for afternoon drinks. Except his weren’t a precursor to lunch and an afternoon out shopping with his bestie.

“Any particular reason you’re pounding ‘em back at 2pm?” Taza asked as Manny poured another shot of Patron.

He straightened, lifting the glass to his lips, sinking the contents. “Shall we just say because I’m a fuck up and leave it at that?”

The elder man nodded, leaving it there. “Here, take him for me. I gotta go head down to Vicky’s with Riz.” Lowering his shoulder, Charlie scampered off onto Manny’s arm, giving himself a little groom as his new human perch rested his head back down on his fist with a sigh. Whereas Taza was content to leave him to it, the same could not be said for the bird.

“Sad. Why sad?”

“I ain’t sad, Charlie,” Manny began, watching him come into his line of vision as he hopped down his arm onto the bar, Charlie nudging his hand until he rubbed his feathers. “I’m just stupid, is all.” Charlie clicked his beak a few times, shaking his head before scampering off down the bar to where a small bowl of bar snacks sat, picking up a pretzel and bringing it back, placing it next to Manny. He then returned, bringing another.

“Snacks. Manny snacks.”

He smiled, throwing them into his mouth. Snacks always made Charlie happy, so when he sensed that someone he liked was feeling down, he liked to offer the same. “You’re an awesome dude, aren’t you?”

“Charlie’s a good boy!”

“Yeah, homes. You are.” He snorted softly then, sighing. “I ain’t, though.”

For the last two days, all he’d had on his mind was his indiscretion. He’d never truly cheated on anyone before, save kissing other girls back in high school when he’d been with someone else, but that was all kid stuff in relationships that had only lasted a number of weeks. It wasn’t this, having sex with his baby mama behind his fiancée's back, the very thing Carmen had feared he’d do.

The very thing he’d been incensed over her even hinting at, and he’d done it without a second thought. What made it worse? He felt bad because he didn’t feel bad at the time, when he was having sex with Hannah. Why? It felt right. He felt like he should have been there with her. It was returning to Carmen that felt alien.

She wasn’t speaking to him, again, because of the fact he’d only arrived home at 6:30am on the morning following the storm. All he could think was how difficult she had to make everything, how she couldn’t be more like Hannah, which he knew was wrong to do. Him and her, though, that ship had sailed, because surely if she felt anything more for him than just having another one-night stand with him, she’d have spoken up?

Wouldn’t she?

“Mama!” Charlie’s shout roused him from his thoughts, Manny turning to see Lily enter the clubhouse, her beloved bird beginning to bob and dance in welcoming of her.

“Hello, baby boy!” she cooed softly, holding out her arm, Charlie scampering up to snuggle against her neck, preening her hair. “You being Manny’s drinking buddy, huh?”

“Manny sad.”

“Aw, hell, homie. Giving away my secrets,” the man himself spoke, turning to softly prod Charlie’s chest with his finger.

Lily cocked her head to the side, reaching to stroke his arm fondly. “The bird didn’t need to say anything for me to see that, honey. What’s wrong?”

If there was one woman he knew he could reveal anything to without worrying what her response would be, it was Lily. Angel was his closest friend, and by extension, so was his wife. “I might have been a bad man.”

“Might?” she questioned, thanking Yasmine, one of the newer girls working behind the bar when she placed a vodka rocks down in front of her.

He smiled thinly, scratching his short beard. “I had sex with Hannah two days ago.”

Lily’s eyes widened in an instant. “Oh boy. Yasmine, keep the drinks coming, pretty girl.” She duly did, Lily finishing hers with another swig. “Well, that’s a, ah, a... predicament you’ve gotten yourself into.”

“I sense you’re holding back from telling me like it is,” he observed, knowing with Lily, that would be exactly what he’d get. She was kind and sweet, but she always cut right through the bullshit with her advice. Although adopted, she was very, very much like her dad in that respect.

“Tell it! Testify!”

They both erupted at that, Charlie’s assessment of the situation, beginning to dance on Lily’s shoulder before he looked towards the door. “Creep! Creep! Playtime!”

“Alright, homie, I’m coming,” Creeper spoke, arriving with them and lowering his shoulder for the bird to hop on, taking a beer passed to him by Yasmine. “I gotta go head out and see to a pile of cars being crushed before I’m finished, and he loves that, so I’ll take him.” Taking his leash, he threaded it through the buttonhole of his shirt, leaving with the celebrity of Romero Brothers on his shoulder, jabbering nonsense into his ear.

“So, the telling it like it is,” Lily began, deciding to treat herself to a seldom enjoyed cigarette. She’d quit completely after getting pregnant with Willow, but allowed herself one on occasion, keeping a pack behind the bar that she reached beneath to locate. “You know it was bad, I don’t have to hammer that point home to you any further. But to be truthful, I can see why you did. That girl you’re engaged to, Manny I’m sorry, but you can do so much better.”

He began to nod. “Never did like her, did you?”

“Oh, hell no,” she revealed with a soft snort. “She isn’t exactly personable. However, it doesn’t matter what I or anyone else thinks of her. If you love her and want to be with her, then what you did with Hannah can’t happen again. You have to be better than that.”

Be better. He knew her words made all the sense in the world.

“She’s asleep,” he mouthed, carrying Lola in her car seat into Hannah’s apartment the following late Thursday afternoon, placing her down and turning to her. Be better. The words burned through his head, but from the moment he met Hannah’s gaze, they soon burned themselves right out of his brain before he picked her up, pressed a kiss of raw heat to her lips, and swiftly fucked her against her apartment door while their baby slept on.

Be better. God, if it was that easy to go from nought to a thousand with the mother of his child, being better would take significantly stronger willpower.

hi I recently read that there was drama happening behind the scenes in greys anatomy? could you maybe elaborate on that? I think I saw it in your tags.. also is the only reason Japril broke up/not get back together rlly bc a show runner didn’t like them?

Hii, yeah, I mean most of this is just speculation.

Okay, so April and Jackson broke up when Shonda Rhimes was still a showrunner. But even though they broke up, it seemed for a long time that the show was going in the direction of them getting back together. Like they had a child together and were living together, and then Montana happened and they just didn't mention it anymore that season. And then suddenly April thought Jackson had feelings for Maggie.

Then season 14 started. Shonda Rhimes left Grey's Anatomy due to issues with the network and Krista Vernoff took over as a showrunner (and got complete creative control). Krista does not like Japril. Idk if she ever directly said it. It was under her control that Sarah and Jessica were written out 'for creative reasons'. She wanted a Mapril endgame, which both Sarah and Justin Bruening thought was rushed. (They discuss it in this podcast) Then, the original pitch for 17x14 was that April was heavily pregnant with Matthew's baby, but he wasn't home, and Jackson has to deliver April's baby. Another baby delivery in the strom, really? With Jesse's exit though I guess Jesse and Sarah had more power and Jesse pitched a different episode to the writers which was then accepted.

(also not related to this but kinda related, why does she keep reusing the same storylines, there was an article that called the beach scenes with Meredith in season 17 creative, and I'm like that's just what happened in season 3 already, Krista is just doing what she always does, repeating storylines)

But people thinking she doesn't like Japril doesn't just come from the way she handled the storyline, it also comes from her shady twitter likes, like this one that called Japril toxic. (Then Jesse posted a photo with Sarah in front of toxic waste bin, which was possibly shading Krista liking that tweet)

I mean yeah, like I said I guess it's technically just speculation from her behavior on twitter and the way she wrote the show, me personally, I do believe she doesn't like Japril bc I don't understand why else she'd make the decisions that she did.

Unorganized thoughts about the Kate/Edwina/Anthony storyline in Bridgerton

I'm going to say something weird but I think that what happened with Edwina in the 2nd Season of Bridgerton is what happened to Jacob in Twilight. The writers loved the "side character" so much that they decided to give them more space in the story but chose to do so by making a love triangle with the main characters and then dragging it for too long.

The way Kate and Anthony's "love story" started was surprising because it focused a lot on Anthony courting Edwina and at the moment when the love triangle storyline should have stopped and made it clear that "Kate was the one", the show went with a proposal from Anthony to Edwina.

If it weren't for the book, a lot of people wouldn't even have realized that Kate and Anthony were supposed to be endgame after that proposal scene. I know I had my doubts about who the endgame couple would be because I couldn't believe that they would go through with the wedding with another woman, in a romance. Especially if that woman is the MC's sister.

Marriage of convienience and slow burns are very common in romances . Anthony's lack of feelings for Edwina doesn't mean that Edwina and Anthony's story wasn't possible, so it wasn't inimaginable to think of them as the main couple. Queen Charlotte and King George storyline also started out like that.

All the codes used in Bridgerton Season, made out Edwina to be the main character, Kate only became the main character in the last 2 episodes.

Edwina got the Big dramatic proposal, with Anthony shocking everyone by declaring his love in front of everyone. It reminded me of another scene from a Shonda Rhimes show. I even made a post about it:

Edwina got her Big wedding ceremony, sponsored by the Queen.

Anthony wasn't even the one who stopped the wedding, Edwina was. Anthony wanted to keep the wedding going. Edwina got to do her Big speech and she was the one who was brave enough to face the Queen and stop the wedding.

We only saw Anthony being horny for Kate, nothing about him screamed main character in those scenes.

And to have Anthony and Kate hook up on the day of Edwina wedding to Anthony...So tacky. Not very romance novel like.

I think the show would have been better if they had sticked to the storyline from the book, from what I've heard, there was no love triangle and Edwina was rooting for Kate and Anthony.

The truth is: Edwina & Anthony's relationship followed the classic romance steps, courting proposal, wedding but Kate & Anthony's didn't.

As much as I love Kate, if they really wanted to sell Kanthony as Endgame from the start, they should have ditched the emotional cheating and the love triangle with her own sister, and made her the main character.

We didn't even get a Kate and Anthony wedding scene....

watching grey’s anatomy for the first time after only watching private practice: another long and obnoxious stream of my thoughts while watching (season 8 edition)

-webber is taking the fall!!! i genuinely didn’t see that coming and i totally should have

-now that the dynamics are all really really settled, i’ve been really enjoying christina and alex’s antagonistic brother-sister relationship

-wasn’t webber gonna retire like a bunch of times anyway? why is everyone acting like it’s the end of the world that he’s stepping down

-derek AND meredith are both pissing me off. i know she has abandonment issues and he has trust issues but she just acts like their marriage is something that could end at any moment as if it’s no different from them dating and he acts like everything is black and white and every time somebody breaks his trust they are automatically morally bankrupt and he runs away and ignores the issue until HE deigns that there’s no issue anymore. they both need therapy if they’re gonna fully commit to this marriage.

-MAYFIELD IN 22! richard is so fucking funny for this

-owen comparing his and derek’s situations is ridiculous

-teddy is kind of hot this season

-well now i feel guilty that i made that note in the episode where her husband apparently dies

-meredith saying “if zola takes her first steps while in daycare, i’m gonna kms” is bonkers considering her history

-i love lexie she’s so embarrassing. she’s like me if i was hot

-there’s a big suicide prevention flyer in the background of a scene. am i being paranoid or are they foreshadowing something awful?

-not the first time a woman named adele has made me cry

-owen hunt sucks harder than anyone has ever sucked before

-i don’t hate the if/then episode. it’s fun and interesting. but i think some of the choices they made make absolutely no sense. i get that the point is like “if this variable changed, what would happen” and they just did that w a bunch of variables. but w some of them i’m like… that’s not what would happen tbh.but it’s fun and silly and i like the idea of exploring alternate possibilities

-and the alternate universe weird shaped grey scrubs are so ugly. worse than the orange

-zola is so goddamn cute i can’t stand it

-go off, teddy. get his ass. (idea: me and teddy start a fight club but it’s literally just us ambushing and jumping owen for funsies)

-i can’t talk about owen anymore bc i’m getting way too worked about a pretend man who works in a pretend hospital
