Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
I listen to "Don’t Bother" and the next songs from the GOS2 soundtrack and I’m reminded of another time when David Arnold was already breaking my heart with violins (yes, I’m talking about Sherlock S2E1).
GUYS GUYS GUYSSSSS sorry for the bad quality im on mobile right now but my Private Life of Sherlock Holmes soundtrack CD came in and the back cover shows the photograph from the beginning of the movie and just look at them!!
Yuma Yamaguchi, UGMF composer: This animation takes place between the late 19th and early 20th century. If the story was something like realistic fiction, I might have considered making the music more fitting to that time period. However, when I read the plot the first time, I felt it’s more like fantasy and has a bit of everything; action, mystery, adventure and also some historical flavor. So in the end, I went with a more modern sound.
This is the 30th track off the soundtrack. What stands out is the percussion. Every time it plays in the background you can feel the intensity of the action scenes.
You can watch Yuma’s musical processes for the series here.
YOURE RIGHT ATWI80D IS SO GOOD (NOT THAT I DOUBTED YOU BUT YKWIM)
Isn't it? It took me by surprise just how much I enjoyed it. The characters are so fun to watch and Fogg himself is just such a sad character but the way he grows and heals and faces his demons, especially in the last episode, is so satisfying. The theme tune as well is just so catchy! It's a really fun, really sweet show. The actors all do brilliant work and David of course knocks it out of the park. That single tear that hits a newspaper in that one scene? The cute bouncy arm waving when he's getting rescued from somewhere? Please I love him.
CALL FOR CITA ASSISTANCE: my friend leon loves film soundtracks and was asking me about the bbc sherlock one and then i blasted his brain open the john motif. i’m not a huge music person, like i don’t know a lot about it, but i know we have a ton of brilliant meta — could anyone direct me to the meta that best discusses the show’s music that i could share with him?
Today on: how the hell does my brain connect two completely different things with a third completely different thing in such a way that it's going to make me do a deep dive between two shows that haven't been on the air in nearing a decade?
Hey hey bestie. Did you read the new Holly Black yet?? If so, what are your thoughts?
girls, demons, and thieves. I HAVE FINISHED!! Book of Night was categorically my best read of the year, possibly even the last two years 😭🙌
i don't know how Holly manages to do it, but every single time, there is something about her stories and characters that just sucker punch me right in the bruised part of my soul. and she makes it feel good.
i figured out what was happening within the first few chapters, but i don't think it's because the story was predictable. i think it's because Holly knows how to lay the groundwork for a fantastic plot twist, and i happened to make a connection in chapter five. yet somehow, this made reading it all the more exciting and, ultimately, satisfying as hell.
i am in love with this story and these characters, who are all walking train wrecks. i would kill for them.
the whole book was an adrenaline rush, highly highly recommend.
I know I'm just screaming into the void at this point, but I'm trying hard to go back to my Sweetbitter fic and my mind just says "Sherlock, Sherlock, Sherlock" which is veryyyy annoying. I have no one to complain about it - no one who would understand I mean - so Tumblr is where I go even though it feels a bit lonely these days. But as John Watson would say, "it is what it is"....
I know Sherlock is depicted as aroace in the show but how I am supposed NOT to imagine a romantic story for him while listening all day soundtrack that evokes heartbreak, angst and sorrow in almost every tune?? David Arnold, I'm under your bed. Affectionately 💜
