i remember that post where its like “damn imagine being in the old hexsquad’s graduating class three of your classmates became coven heads and two of them become wizard steve jobs what a high life success rate for that year” and it’s funny but also like. no it’s not just three coven heads and two wizard steve jobs out of a graduating year. they were all from the same friend group.

you had a friend group of seven and three of them became coven heads and two of them became wizard steve jobs. and one of them became a famous reporter and basically a household name bc he shows up on the crystal ball every night. and the last one became a hermit in the woods but also the most powerful criminal in the country? like that is a success rate of seven out of seven if you count eda’s life of crime as a "successful life” which i do.

like imagine being in that graduating year. literally all your other high school friends are just some guy except for this one group of seven. they mostly stopped being friends with each other by the end of high school for reasons you’re not rly sure on but you see them on the news like every day now.

and then the apocalypse happens and the world is saved by a group of plucky teens and you find out three out of five of them are kids of that old friend group. but they didnt actually end up becoming friends bc of their parents they became friends just cuz. and somewhere along the way they roped in the literal golden guard and an actual titan? oh and theres another girl there too her dads are just some guys. the nepotism in the main character industry is insane

Hello! I don’t think so. I think that’s what she was going to wear to the dinner she’d planned for the four of them (from the fragman, Eda, Serkan, Deniz and herself) but BOOM goes the MELO. Thank you Melo, lock that witch away so Serkan and Eda are not haunted by her evil presence, and can maybe spend some time together. 

Though, you know, I wouldn’t mind if it was a wedding dress. We know Serkan ain’t gonna marry her, so if they go so far as to put her in a dress, then we’re on the precipice of her humiliation and departure which can’t come too soon for me. 

jan31 Hi Liza. Please can you explain to me the fireside scene. It was so beautiful, emotional and just what we needed. Were the lights going out representing his sub conscious and the darkness he feels, reaching out for Eda instinctively without realising why. And the lights coming on was the reality that he did not remember anything. Or am I completely going in the wrong direction? Oh and the music gets me every time 😢😢

That scene fired on all cylinders!! I definitely think you’re on to something thinking the lights coming on represented the reality of him still not having any memories back. I think the whole scene was Serkan trying to reconcile this one flash of memory that has been playing in his mind like a movie. He was re-enacting what he saw in his mind, trying to figure out if it was a real memory and if the real memory was about Eda.   

I really liked that it was Serkan who asked if they can talk without arguing. Being the calm, rational one is his role in their relationship, how many times have we heard him say “sakin” so it was comforting to see him taking those reigns for a few moments. Also for him to realize that almost all their exchanges had been heightened and fraught with explosive emotions and wanting to talk to her without that. 

Both Eda and Serkan with their eyes filled, brimming with tears really got to me. Serkan not really understanding as his heart took over and tried to make sense of what his confused mind couldn’t. Eda’s complete heartbreak when he still didn’t remember anything. However, though, she might not know it, he certainly felt something.

He’s already so drawn to her and he can’t compute why that is... why he fell in love with her during the time he can’t remember, but he’s slowly starting to see how it could have happened. This was an important scene for bridging that gap between them. So freaking beautiful, one of the best acted scenes of the entire series, and the scene that made this episode worthwhile.

Hande and Kerem were both absolutely fantastic in that scene. Really stellar. Their chemistry never disappoints, but here they were both right in the moment, very raw, very real. I’m impressed with the emotional range they both showed, kudos to both. If nothing else this story is giving them a lot to chew on as actors.

Well they made huge strides in two episodes. From Serkan not willing to even contemplate remembering her, to him sitting down and asking her to tell him a memory of their relationship and saying he wants to know about her and their love. And them having an absolutely beautiful, emotional, heartbreaking moment together. 

Serkan made other leaps as well. He went from wanting Eda out of the business to admitting she had talent and freaking out that she was planning to take a vacation. He was already coming up with every excuse to keep her in town and working. They argued as they did in early days, he had moments that obviously hit him as familiar (”I hate you Serkan Bolat.” “The feeling is mutual, lady.”) plus lemons and crusts. 

Don’t you worry, he’s already falling in love with her again. 

However, I wouldn’t judge what they’re planning too much by this episode. It felt like a transition episode and was pretty unevenly paced. Perhaps the claims of rewrites on this chapter had some truth to them. Because the last 4 episodes were pretty well written, narratively solid, and well paced, and this one was not. It was boring and everything not directly related to a scene where Eda and Serkan were alone was lackluster. 

Also I feel like some things were changed and perhaps removed to make allowances for Hande’s injury. She had a strained neck and was in a brace for almost the entirety of the filming of this episode. For instance, I’m pretty sure they did fewer takes with her in several scenes. Specifically you can tell in the scene where Serkan picks her up and carries her back.

We go no full wide angle shot from the front of him carrying her to match with the scene in episode 5. I’m sure they wanted that, but I’m guessing they really had to limit the takes of him picking her up so they couldn’t do multiple camera set ups.  The still photographer on set was able to capture it from the front, it’s a shame they couldn’t get the full hero shot for the show, but poor thing was injured and these things happen when you shoot on such tight timelines. 

So some of the lack of Edser could have been scenes that were shortened, cut, and amended due to that injury. And others could have been changes in the script perhaps as they figure out if they’re getting another ep order from Fox.

I guess my opinion would be unpopular with you, but I am not as enamored with Deniz as others seem to be.  Dude was putting a LOT of pressure on Eda to move on and forget Serkan. Serkan has been back approximately 3 days! HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD AND HAS AMNESIA. Can the woman have a chance to catch her breath and assess the situation, before her “good friend” is pressuring her every which way to forget him??  And planning romantic getaways under the guise of friendship? That’s not being a friend, that’s being an opportunist, looking for his chance to slide in there. 

So, yeah, I’m not as impressed as most seem to be with Deniz. He made me uncomfortable with that. I hope it was not a harbinger of things to come. 

As for OTH, I haven't really watched, but its a fav or my bud @echoapothecary so she might be willing to discuss that show.

Let’s do it, baby! I’m on board They both are genuinely good people, and I’m with you, I don’t care about any of the side romances at the moment. Piril and Engin put me to sleep this episode. 

Ferit certainly deserves better than psycho Selin, but he also deserves better than petulant Ceren. And while her behavior escalated to WTF levels this ep, she’s always leaned a little this way. I think it was episode 18 (because the girls were in the library before Serkan finds Eda there) that Ceren was furious at Ferit all episode and I honest to goodness had no clue why or what he did.

No this show has always been about the love story between Eda and Serkan, but it did have some nice female relationships as well. Can I tell you a secret? While I really like the girls dynamic, and hope they don’t destroy Ceren and Eda’s friendship, I really only care about 2 characters, and that’s Eda and Serkan.

So while I get your concern, and Ceren acted OUT OF HER DAMN MIND this episode, if she needs to be a casualty to keep things moving, so be it.  I mean I reserve the right to roll my eyes over it, but I’m not going to get too worked up about it. From the beginning Eda and Serkan were the only two characters that matter and they still are.

I think you have to just give over to the timeline on this show and not do any math or calculations. We already had July to December take approximately 2 months in straight linear storytelling, LMAO.  

Also, if it is valentine’s day and that’s going to be their excuse to give us some actual romance, then I will take it, no complaints. To me that’s one of the easiest things not to be concerned about, because its never going to make sense. I’ll take the holiday themed episodes over strict adherence to the calendar any day.

And we return to the Boiling Isles! Anything else that happened on Great Blue will be in flashback from this point forward. 

Amity held back a sigh as she made the last few checks on herself before the door to Emperor Belos’s throne room. The now 21 year old young woman stood, wrapped in a tight black dress, under the cloak of the head of the Emperor’s Coven. She straightened out her now unbound hair, still dyed green as it always was, but now in more of an undercut style with her hair swept to the right side of her face. Her roots were already starting to show again, it would be time to redye it soon. The one last check was a light check of her staff, a Palismen she was lucky enough to have crafted herself, a regal looking Phoenix that she’d named Azula. It was a name of a character that Luz had told her about from some human show. It felt fitting. 

She could already hear the unnerving beat of the Titan’s Heart within, reminding all of the power the man had. Much like the last 7 years, she was never used to how things had changed for her life. Ever since Luz had been dragged through the Portal back to the human world, things had grown slightly darker for her. Oh she’d kept contact with the friends she’d made thanks to the human, Willow was thriving as not only a botanist, but had worked her way to the head of the Plant Coven. It surprise to everyone but those closest to her. Gus was able to work his way into a high ranking member of the Illusion Coven, only being beat out by Amity’s own siblings for the higher spots. She herself had gone into the Emperor’s Coven just as her family had wanted and worked her way to the top. It had plenty of benefits, but it’s fair share of annoyances and problems themselves. With one last sigh she centered herself and entered into the Chamber. “Ah… Amity, good to see you arrive so soon.” Came the eerie yet oddly charismatic voice of the Emperor from his throne. Amity approached and took a knee before Belos, bowing her head. “I came as soon as I was called, how may I serve you sir?” “A moment on that Amity,” Belos raised his hand and turned back to the other occupants in the room, “continue with your report.” He ordered. Another member of the coven cleared their throat, one that Amity knew came from the research team within the coven. “Of course, sire. Well, as you know, the portal to the human world had been in a dormant state since the rebellion attack on the Day of Unity over 7 years ago. We’ve been working to restore power to it since then, with little results.” They paused as they all heard the Titan’s Heart beating faster, signifying Belos’s annoyance. “That was, until about two hours ago when we had an incident…” Amity blinked. “An incident? What happened?” She asked curiously, a small spark of hope that maybe the portal was working. Sure it would be good for her Emperor, but it could let her see… “Yes, while working on it, the systems within the machine attached to the portal suddenly shot to life, opening it for just a brief moment and something came out. Unfortunately we can’t say what it was, as it came out like a cannon shot and broke through the walls of the lab, clear out of the castle itself. It was… An interesting experience to say the least.” They stated, trying to cut the slight tension in the room with some humor. “I would assume so.” Belos stated, bringing the tension right back, as the researcher froze up a bit. “Then the portal is operational again?” He asked, expecting an affirmative. The researcher gulped and shook their head slowly. “N-no sire… Um, whatever that anomaly was that activated it, damaged the portal further… It may not be salva-” They were cut off by standing of Belos and the much faster beating of the heart. “So you have nothing for me but failure, is that it?” He asked, a calm tone still coming from him, but it dripped with anger and venom. “Tell me, what does this do for my Day of Unity?” He asked, expecting a very quick answer. “W-well… Um, we detected where the anomaly landed… It’s.. It arrived just outside of Bonesborough! By the-” Belos sat back down and sigh. “The Owl House… Of course.” He said holding a hand to his mask. Amity stood by for the moment, unsure of how to approach this situation, she was about to try and offer to send someone to check it out, but found herself cut off. “Amity, I want you to take a group with you and go to the Owl House, see if you can get information on what came through.” Belos ordered. “At once sir. Do...do you want the sisters captured?” Amity asked, she knew they had been pardoned despite not joining any covens due to their lack of magic beyond the use of glyphs. Did he intend to have them arrested? “Only if they choose to resist and hide what arrived. I feel whatever it might be will be important to finally obtaining my goals. Now go.” “Yes sir.” She stood, turning on her heel and quickly heading out to gather a team. It was time to see the Clawthorn sisters it seemed.

Two hours earlier, at the Owl House

The day had been somewhat normal for the residents of the Owl House. It was still early morning for them, Eda was busy trying to wake up with her normal cup of Apple Blood, Lilith was busy reading the morning paper as she prepared lesson plans for her class at Hexside on Glyphs and Glyph Magic, and King was busy with his morning nap in her lap. 

Yes, a perfectly normal morning for the group, at least until a sudden rapping on the door causing all three to jump at the noise.

Eda grumbled as she cleaned some of the apple blood that splashed into her face from the sudden scare and looked to the door. “Hooty! What are you doing making such a loud racket suddenly!?” She growled at her door, only to get no answer. “Hooty, what is going on?” She stood from her spot on the couch and made her way over, only to pause as the door opened. All three, four if you included a surprisingly shocked silent Hooty, were witness to a figure standing in the doorway. The tall form of a dark skinned, black haired woman, human judging by the round ears that poked out of her long hair. She was panting in a labored way as she held her side. Covered in blood, her clothing damaged, and plenty of opened wounds. Despite all this, the woman smiled at them. “I… Hi… I’m… Home…” Was all she said before collapsing onto the floor, blood slowly pooling from her wounds as exhaustion finally took its toll. The shock dissolved from Eda first, rushing over to her and starting to try and move her as best as she could. “Lily, go get the med kit! Now!” She ordered her older sister, who shot up quickly to go and get said kit. Eda brought the wounded woman over to the couch and laid her across it, it was already red, blood wasn’t gonna change that color much, as King moved out of the way. “Eda, is...is that?” King asked, the scent of the woman was so familiar, slightly different as she smelled heavily of salt under all the blood and sweat, but familiar. Eda nodded as she brushed a bit of the young woman’s hair aside to get a better look at her face. “Yeah… I think so... “ She said softly, staring at her face. “Luz.. Kiddo, what happened to you…?” She asked as Lilith returned with the med kit and the two started work on patching her up as best as they could.

Eda’s Mystery Friend

I JUST FIGURED SOMETHING OUT!

So the newest Disney animated series going on currently is The Owl House, right?

And I think I know what Eda’s mystery friend(and possibly more)is.

I actually have multiple theories, based off different things in the photo. I’m also gonna explain why I think so, and why my theory is flawed(They all are). But my biggest theory is gonna be the last one I type down.

Alright, lets get started.

Ok, so this is the picture.

This is from Wing It Like Witches, episode 17 of The Owl House.

The Person’s face is covered by a movie ticket, so it drops a shadow over the rest of the face, making it hard to see.

Lets start with what we know for sure.

This is taken at some sort of get-together, as Eda, Lilith and the Person has ice cream, or cake pops, or some sort of treat.

They look like they have just left school, and gotten their ice cream(imma just call it that now).

Lilith does not seem to like Person, or Eda hanging out with them.

This could also be the classic protective older sibling disapproving of a potential relationship, but in this post I will keep it as a strictly platonic relationship.

This took me a while to notice, but there is also another person that is cut out by the photo.

It could be a random bystander, but I doubt they would be in front of Person and Eda. There is also the fact of who took the photo, it could be a selfie taken by the cut out person.

I will only try to figure out the first one though.

Person 1:

Ok, just by looking at the outfit, you can see that they are in the Bard Track, at least at the moment.

We can’t really assume their gender, becasue the Uniforms are designed the same expet

I say at the moment because choosing a track at Hexside is not permanent, like choosing a coven. We saw Willow switch from the Abomination Track to the Plant Track in Episode 3, I Was A Teenage Abomination.

Of course, Covens may not be fully permanent, unless, maybe you were in the Emperors Coven. But I’ll think about that later.

I’m getting off track.

I will call this person Bard to make it easier.

Bard has a darker skin tone than Eda and Lilith. We don’t see the skin of the other person, so I cant compare Bard to them.

Bard’s skin tone is similar to the Noceda’s in a way.

They have a yellow-brown bag strap, and I can’t figure out if the lifeboat thing behind them is actually her backpack.

They also seem to be lightly touching it, almost like it is a habit, or if its important(I’m reading way too much into this).

Bard also has one of their arms linked with Eda, so they must be close friends.

They have something on their eyes that could be glasses, or sunglasses, or something along those lines, but they could be the shape of real eyes, who knows.

Bard’s Identity

Alright. This is the part where I will show some theories.

Odalia Blight:

The first one that got me thinking about this is the theory that Bard is actually Amity’s mother, Odalia Blight. I saw this theory on a video by The Roundtable.

I’ll put the link at the end.

Ok. This theory runs on pretty thin evidence, and with what facts I have, I can confirm it fake.

This theory is built off the fact that we might be able to see a little tuft of hair, if it even if hair, and not like, a furry hat, or something.

If you look closely, it is right at the bottom edge of the ticket, before the curve.

Roundtable(idk his name) talks about how it looks to be greenish, and he thinks it is Odalia Blight-green.

Here are the facts that I currently have to prove this as false.

First off, the track.

Odalia is confirmed to have been in the Oracle Track, and we know there were no cross-covens until Luz.

Another thing, all of the Blights look fair-skinned. In the flashback from when Lilith had to duel Eda for the Emperors Coven, we got a look at them. Since it was a flashback, the screen browned out a bit(idk how to explain), but either way, the skin tone just does not match.

Odalia also seems like the kind of person to not like the Clawthornes, seen by the way she was looking at them with a duel, so I doubt that she would be hooking arms with Eda.

We know that she was on somewhat good terms with Lilith though, trusting Amity with her as a mentor.(ik this sounds like Odalia actually cares, but I mean it like she invested a lot of time into Amity, things better not go wrong)

And for a last fact, the supposed “hair” looks more like a light blue, or teal, almost like the Illusion Coven’s color.

So I can say for a fact that this theory is false.

Camila Noceda:

Yes, the next theory is about this person being Luz’s mom.

I found a picture online while searching for the one with the actual photo.

It made some pretty good points.

Like I said before, the skin tone is similar too the Nocedas, and we know that Camila wears glasses, so that could explain that.

The strap is like the shoulder bag Camila has in the few episodes we’ve seen her, and she could still have that habit of holding it.

The “hair” is the only thing that doesn’t match up about the physical appearance, and who knows, Camila could be in the Bard Coven.

We can explain the hair as it is a hat, or as another popular theory, that Camila is actually the Good Witch Azura.

The hair color matches up, and Camila could have cut it short back then.

It also explains why Camila is trying to squash any signs of imagination within Luz(but yeah, her imagination is crazy).

There are only a few questions I have with this theory.

One, why did she want to go to the human realm, an forget about the Boling Isles? Maybe something happened there? Like with Emperor Belos?

That means she is at least over 50 years old, which doesn’t seem too far-fetched. It would also fit well with Eda’s and Lilith’s ages, with her being a couple of years older.

Two, How did she learn Spanish that quickly? I mean, she is fluent enough that it merges into her everyday conversation, and she clearly has it made that she was probably raised somewhere that speaks a lot of Spanish.

Three, if Camila was Azura, and therefore a witch, why doesn’t Luz have a bile sack? Could the human gene of no sack be dominant, overpowering the recessive bile gene? Or was the no bile sack the dominant gene, with Luz just having a 20% chance of being without a sack, which she is?

Does Camila have a completly pure bile sack gene, which means Luz’s DNA mutated, or is Luz adopted? Does having a bile sack have to do with the energy from the Titan, meaning you have to be born on the Isles, born surround by that energy to develop a sack?

I… should probably stop now.

…

I will list these questions down and come up with theories for them that have absolutely no basis.

Anyways, I have one more idea on who it can be, and I am 100% sure that I have come up with this theory, because I can’t find any pictures.

In the flashback of S1E19, Young Blood, Old Souls, it shows Lilith cursing Eda, and then both of them getting ready to duel the very next day.

You could not see most of the audience members, because most students were drawn as greyed silhouettes, and the Emperors Coven was all masked.

But we saw two people, who presumably are Alador and Odalia Blight in their teens.

I really don’t have to explain the evidence for this, just go look at the picture.

This person fits the requirements of Bards Coven, and dark skin. We can’t really see her emotion, but there were a couple of things she could be feeling.

If she was laughing along with the crowd, then maybe something could have happened a couple years before, and they broke off their friendship. People change, so maybe they weren’t friends anymore.

She could also be worried for her friend, her arms are wrapped around her sides. Some people hug themselves when they are worried, she could be doing the same thing.

All in all, I believe that this could be Eda’s mystery friend, Bard.
