i always think that debbie gallagher is some niche secret character that only i and my tumblr mutuals know about, but then i realize how popular shameless is and that she is a main character, so the reality of it is that the only reason other people aren’t talking about her as passionately is because most people hate her

Reiner x reader master list
If you're here for AOT fics, I should probably mention that I'm not the most prolific fanfic writer. I write when the inspiration and energy hit me, and frankly, I have zero self discipline!
That said, even with AOT now finished, and fandom activity dwindling, I will still write and update fics as the mood takes me - but with less rampant AOT energy on my dash, my inspiration has taken a bit of a nose dive.
At its heart, though, this is still primarily a blog I made for exploring the AOT fandom, and I'd like to keep it that way, even if the AOT content becomes less frequent. For now, my fics aren't going anywhere, and neither is my silly Reiner obsession.
My fics are mostly x reader, and yes, they're basically all about Reiner. This is a very very shameless Reiner blog, I'm not gonna pretend it's not. Fluff and angst are generally my strong points, but I'm becoming a little less shy about writing smut.
I generally don't take requests, but I'm open to... suggestions? If you wanna bounce headcanons around or thirst dump or just talk about Reiner, my ask box is always open. Don't be shy! I'm nothing but a doofus, I promise.
Finally, I'm doing this for fun and because I enjoy it, so please don't yell at me about whatever thing you didn't like in my writing. Comments absolutely do make my day, though, and reblogs are so very appreciated and encouraged, no matter how long ago the fic was published.

You're one of the most pathetic people here. You overanalyzing someone from acting to personal life. You have no life outside and your fave is boring, that's why you're here blogging about someone you don't like. The funniest thing is that only jared fans think that he's a good and highly trained actor when in reality people know him as a joke outside of the fandom. Maybe read some critics reviews and comments on imdb, twitter and reddit, most people there are not from the fandom and they are likely unbiased. Maybe you don't want to see it because you're delusional.
Maybe you don't see it because you have no experience when it comes to acting or the industry. Have you ever considered that? 🤣🤣🤣 Wow, gaslighting done by a Jared hating Jensen stan, I am shook. 🤣 Such intelligence. Much class. My fav is Jensen so are you saying Jensen is boring? Or are you playing the bully and deciding who my favorite really is? Wow, such power. I could care less about what GA thinks, I judge an actor by the impact the creates, the humanity he has and the professionalism he demonstrates. Being an Actor goes deeper than just embodying a role, do you even know what the origin story of actors is and WHY actors are important to society? Of course not, that kind of knowledge and awareness is way out of your league. All you know is bullying out of frustration due to living a limited, unfulfilled life.
I have no life outside? As in if i step outside I die? lol Might wanna brush up on your grammar and logic there, buddy. So not only do you get to make up who my fav is you also get to make up what my life is like and yet I'm supposed to be the delusional one? Entertaining. 🤣
Let's look at reality, for a moment, together:
Is Jared repped by one of the biggest agencies in Hollywood? Yes.
Is Jared a Leading Man? Yes.
Is Jared highly respected within his industry by his peers? Yes.
Is Jared is a privileged position as an actor who is also an e.p. on his dream project that gets shot in his home town, something some will only ever dream of during their lifetime and never achieve? Yes.
Is Jared one of the most attractive and admired tv stars of his generation? Yes.
Is Jared a highly trained actor? Yes, Jared is a professionally trained actor.
Does Jared exemplify great humanity as an artist? Yes. In so many ways, I can't even begin listing them because this post will become endless.
Finally, since you are clearly an AA, stomach this:
Is Jared more successful than Jensen at the moment? Yes. Yes. Yes. Jared is at Leading Man tier while Jensen is at Guest Star. For your reference, Jared is at the highest tier a tv actor can reach, not only that but the success of his show rested solely on his image initially before people got acquainted with the story. So that's how powerful and recognizable Jared's brand is, he did a remake of a show that strays from the original and the show survived because people love to see him on screen telling stories.
"People know him as a joke outside of fandom" is a blatant, gaslighting, shameless lie and the only pitiful one here is you for even remotely needing to make anyone less in any way, especially someone as successful and appreciated as Jared Padalecki, who has earned the respect of his audience so deeply he is the single reason his show is thriving. Jared is the very definition of a Leading Man.

rewatching pride and prejudice (95) and I am in awe of how shameless all the bennet girls are about flirting in front of their parents
I know they had no choice and I know that's kind of Kitty and Lydia's thing that they're inappropriate about it. But Lizzy's out there very clearly putting the moves on wickham while her parents watch and overanalyze...I would have become a goddamn latin tutor

I was overanalyzing a little bit of a conversation I had with my ex-boyfriend from months ago and I felt like we were locked in a distressing SebaCiel fanfic with no happy ending.
He was so Sebastian because he asked me over and over again things about my pets (4 cats) especially the one he is most fond of and he was so shameless as if all the emotional collapse did not exist and we were just friends talking about cats.
While I felt like a fool Ciel who tries to evade his emotions and how much he misses Sebastian giving him answers bluntly and trying to speak formally.
I want to make a SebaCiel fanfic about this, it's so humiliating and silly.
(sorry if this is terribly written please use google translate)

here by unpopular demand: why Ian and Mickey are narrative foils
For reference, the definition of a narrative foil is a character who contrasts with another character (usually the protagonist) to highlight qualities of the other character.
1. introduction to the show
Mickey is introduced to the show as an antagonist and somebody out to get Ian who, at this point, is the ‘protagonist’. He’s presented as the direct opposite of Ian: dirty, obviously not well taken care of, crass, homophobic, etc. As the show goes on we learn that most, if not all, of these things are a defense mechanism and not actually indicative of who he is but before 1x07 these are the only things we know about him. Basically, he’s introduced as a stereotypical neighborhood thug contrasted against sweet, hardworking, ambitious Ian.
2. family
The Milkoviches and Gallaghers are narrative foils, too, and in better world the show would have explored this even further but I digress. They’re similar in the way that they’re both poor Southside families trying to make money to stay afloat but the comparisons pretty much end there. The biggest difference is that the Gallagher children always had somebody looking out for them, while the Milkovich children didn’t. Talking about Ian and Mickey, it’s not to say that Ian didn’t have his fair share of having to fend for himself or that he had it easy, but at the very least his family really loved and cared about him and it’s shown really early on that Mickey didn’t have that. In fact, he lived in perpetual fear of his father and was loyal to him because of this, as opposed to Ian who hated Frank and avoided even associating with him most of the time. Ian and Mickey in the early seasons explicitly show what difference growing up knowing you’re loved and thinking you have a chance in life makes and how much that affects your personality and general worldview.
3. driving character arcs
This boils down to Mickey’s main obstacles being external and physical while Ian’s are internal and psychological. Neither one is worse or more important than the other but it does mean a lot in terms of who they are as characters and the things they had to overcome.
     3a. Mickey’s sexuality
Ian has always been shown to be comfortable in his sexuality and, even though he wasn’t out for all of the early seasons, it was never shown to be a source of contention for him. Mickey on the other hand, doesn’t get comfortable in his sexuality until season 5 (and even then he’s shown to revert to having sex with women when he’s stressed). In this regard, Ian operates as Mickeys foil, serving to highlight how different Mickey’s experience with his sexuality was compared to Ian’s, as shown in 2x08 when you see Mickey terrified of being outed while Ian looks on really not understanding what he’s so afraid of. As Mickey said, they lived in different worlds, and moments like 2x08 or all of season 3b serve as proof of this.
     3b. Ian’s bipolar
Ian’s return in season 4 marks a real turning point for his character. Even though his main traits never falter he seems to be, in many ways, a completely different person. As time goes on you learn why this is and, especially after Ian’s diagnosis, you see Ian and Mickey once again living in different worlds. Mickey operates as his foil here because Ian sees the diagnosis as a death sentence and has a hard time coming to terms with it. After what he saw with Monica, it seems impossible that he would see it any other way, which is made worse by the way his family talks about it. Mickey, however, has none of these pre-existing connotations or stigma about it. To him, it just means Ian’s sick and needs help, not that he’s broken or different or that there’s anything wrong with him at all. Once he gets over the initial hurt and confusion it really doesn’t change how he sees Ian at all, which juxtaposes Ian’s warped perception of himself, which goes so deep that he breaks up with Mickey after spending time with Monica and seeing the future he thinks he’s doomed to end up in.
4. relationship
All throughout the show, their storylines are inverses of each other (I’ve made a couple gifsets about that here) and the relationship itself serves to highlight different parts of each character at different points throughout the show.
    4a. seasons 1-5
In seasons 1-3, Ian is shown to be the steady one in the relationship, he has the luxury of not being terrified of being outed and having a support system, so he’s able to pursue Mickey in this way. Then, enter seasons 4 and 5, and all the stability and surety that has defined Ian for his whole life is ripped away from him. This completely flips their dynamic on it’s head and forces Mickey to both pursue Ian, and become the stable one in the relationship, in seasons 4 and 5, respectively.
     4b. seasons 6-7
In season 6, Mickey is a reminder of Ian’s ‘past life’ and everything he was desperate to move on from. It’s not that Mickey did anything to deserve this, but the fact is Ian associated him with everything from the past year or so that had completely destroyed his life and his perception of himself.
In season 7, Ian had gotten himself to a place where he was able separate Mickey from that and come to terms with his feelings for him. Mickey was his foil here in the sense that he represented love and passion as opposed to the precarious stability Ian had worked really hard to carve out for himself. The situation forced Ian to make a choice between the two and revealed just how much Ian values his mental health and safety, highlighting how much he’d grown from seasons 4 and 5.
     4c. season 10
In season 10 their relationship had finally reached a point where they can just be together, which opened the door for the insecurities that they both still harbored to come out of the shadows. Mickey’s feelings of abandonment and his need for Ian to prove that he’s committed go up against Ian’s commitment issues brought on by his bipolar and the connotations that marriage held for him. To Ian, getting married meant Mickey tying himself to him forever, and he couldn’t imagine why he would want to do that; to Mickey, it just meant them committing to being together forever. They were essentially looking at the same picture but seeing different things which highlighted really key parts of their personalities and the way they operate in a relationship.
tldr: Ian and Mickey’s relationship is incredibly complex, but the main thing that remained consistent through it all is that they constantly challenge each other and bring out both the good and the bad in each other and that they fiercely love each other.

I honestly never noticed the timeline on this show, but now it’s making me dizzy.
Season 3 is zooming by. In 3x05 and 3x06, it was the beginning of the summer. By 3x08, it’s nearly winter? But it’s implied that the kids are only away in foster care for a short time?
Like, I’m exhausted trying to keep up with how time works here.

The "BPD Anakin" Theory is Overlooking Some Crucial Shit - a long rambly meta objection
Suiting up in my flame proof armor for this one, but submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society jury…
The BPD Anakin theory is gundark bollocks.
I’ve seen this theory getting bandied about a lot, and it’s never sat quite right with me. It finally clicked that the reason why it doesn’t sit right is because the entire argument is hinged upon ignoring nearly all the situational and cultural factors in Anakin’s world, and “diagnosing” him in a vacuum. This is tantamount to arresting someone for yelling FIRE! in a crowded theater when there actually is a fire.
Simply put, a lot of the defenses I’ve seen of the theory fail to take into account that in order for a disorder to be present, the person’s thoughts and behaviors have to actually be disordered, and they also have to be pervasive. Patterns of thought and behavior that are reasonable within context are not disordered. (If someone’s yelling “fire!” in a crowded theater, it’s not unreasonable if there actually is a fire.) Thoughts and behaviors that we don’t see until the tail end of RotS where Sidious has manipulated Anakin into what can only be described as a psychological break are not pervasive. (I’d also argue that some of them aren’t even really Anakin’s - he’s a victim of gaslighting, both by Palpatine AND the Jedi Order. Not that it excuses what he did, but abuse victims who’ve been mentally and emotionally manipulated can display behaviors that deceptively mimic various mental illnesses. And TBH the Jedi Order was really just a fancy religious cult that responded to Anakin’s very normal, very human need for love and acceptance with pretty much the Jedi equivalent of “stop having impure thoughts or you’re gonna go to hell” - which really didn’t help matters.)
And for the sake of clarity here, let me go ahead and establish a couple of things. 1) I’m talking about Anakin while he was still Anakin. Vader is a different entity in a lot of ways, and that’s an entirely different discussion. Most of the BPD stuff I’ve seen has been focused on PT and TCW Anakin, so that’s what I’m working with here. 2) I’m absolutely not arguing that Anakin is some shining paragon of perfect mental health, or that he’s necessarily neurotypical in the first place, because yeah NO. He absolutely has some issues he needs to deal with, and as far as neurotypical-ness goes, I’ve seen some pretty convincing cases for ADHD, PTSD, generalized anxiety, and even high functioning autism. I’m only arguing that BPD doesn’t fit. So let’s go through the diagnostic criteria for BPD, keeping the above in mind.
(If you're on mobile, the rest of the post is here. Hellsite app hides the Read More. https://rocket-sith.tumblr.com/post/158218862776/the-bpd-anakin-theory-is-overlooking-some )
*frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment*
Okay, so picture this. You’re in the middle of an ongoing war, and you’re fighting on the front lines. All your friends are in the war too, and many of them are right there on the front lines with you. Your spouse is a high-profile politician with powerful enemies, and he/she has faced assassination attempts before. Your mother is living in a hostile land as a slave, where it’s commonplace to be killed or abused.
Tell me your fear of losing the people you love is irrational. Go ahead, tell me that’s not a 100% justified fear. I’ll wait.
We see in Crystal Crisis that Anakin feels abandoned by Ahsoka when she left, but she actually did leave. That wasn’t an irrational fear. She left. Anakin stood by her, not thinking she’d leave, and she left anyway, which clearly shocked him. It’s totally fair to say he’s being short-sighted in his reaction, in that the council was the ones he should be mad at, not her, but if irrational fear of abandonment is what we’re looking for here, there simply wasn’t any in this case. The possibility of her leaving never even occurred to him before the council scene in the Wrong Jedi arc, and when she did leave, he was upset, but he was upset at something that actually happened, not irrationally fearing something that might.
Anakin gets mad at Obi-Wan for leaving him out of the loop in the TCW Deception arc, but getting mad at your supposed best friend for faking his own death in order to emotionally manipulate a reaction out of you…I mean, damn, who *wouldn’t* feel pissed off and betrayed by that? And even THEN, he never thought Obi-Wan was the one behind it until Obi-Wan told him point blank that it was his idea to leave Anakin out of the loop. Anakin’s immediate reaction to finding out Obi-Wan was alive wasn’t “Obi-Wan abandoned me and was conspiring against me” it was “the council doesn’t trust me.” The thought that Obi-Wan was in on it doesn’t even cross his mind as a possibility.
Then we have the incident with Padme and Clovis where Anakin walks in and starts to whup Clovis’s ass. A lot of people like to point to this as irrational possessiveness taken to the point of violence, but again, we’re overlooking a few things here. Padme has had attempts made on her life before. The person she’s trying to lure is a known slimeball. And when Anakin busts into the room, he doesn’t see Padme making googly eyes at Clovis. He sees Clovis trying to physically force himself on Padme while she says no. This is not Anakin walking in on his wife flirting with someone, this is Anakin walking in on a known scuzzbucket doing something to Padme that looks an awful lot like sexual assault. No shit, he lost his cool!
The “everyone’s abandoned me and turned against me” mindset isn’t something we see until the tail end of RotS on Mustafar. Not pervasive. And given Obi-Wan actually was there to kill him, it’s not particularly disordered either. He did incorrectly assume Padme had brought Obi-Wan there, but considering 1) Palpatine had planted the idea in Anakin’s head that there was something under-the-table going on between Padme and Obi-Wan, and 2) Obi-Wan really had just shown up on Padme’s ship looking to throw down and start shit, it’s not like Padme bringing Obi-Wan there to whup Anakin’s ass was some random, wild idea that just popped into Anakin’s head of its own accord, manifested purely by his own insecurities. It was a conclusion reached by combining something that was actually true (Obi-Wan had arrived on Mustafar via Padme’s ship with the intention of fighting or killing Anakin) with something that had been deliberately planted in his head by a malevolent, manipulative third party (Obi-Wan and Padme were in cahoots about something sketchy). I am not in any way, shape, or form defending the way Anakin handled it, but I am saying the suspicion itself isn’t mere left-field paranoia born of nothing but a fear of abandonment. *a pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation*
Anakin is emotionally intense, sure, and he comes off the rails when one of his loved ones is in danger, but I do not see instability in his relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation of the people he loves. Anakin is a steadfastly loyal person, and he doesn’t do the push-pull thing. Let’s look at the people he’s closest to - his mother, Padme, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Rex, and Palpatine.
- Mom and Rex - there’s never anything even remotely turbulent with either of these two regarding how Anakin views and feels about them. He’s unwaveringly loyal to both, never once devalues either, and there’s no push/pull here at all.
- Ahsoka - he’s overprotective of her sometimes, but she’s a young teenager in a war zone entrusted to his care. The only time we ever see him slagging her off is when he’s ranting to Obi-Wan in the Crystal Crisis arc, mad at her for leaving. That’s it. One instance hardly constitutes “pervasive” or “alternating” and we can’t forget, this wasn’t a fear about things that might happen, or Anakin saying she was Jerky McJerkface because she disagreed with his opinion of loth-cats or something. This was a reaction to her actually leaving, which was a huge, life-altering thing for Anakin that hurt him very deeply - especially since he did stay unwaveringly loyal to her even when no one else was. He’s definitely guilty of not grasping the big picture here, but again - not pervasive, not alternating, no history of devaluing Ahsoka or thinking she was going to abandon him for no good reason.
- Obi-Wan - Okay, the Anakin/Obi-Wan dynamic is complex. These two clowns are both masters at miscommunication and not understanding each other for shit despite the fact that they clearly adore each other, but again. A teenager bickering with his guardian and ranting to his friends about how much he dislikes being nitpicked and dislikes rules (AotC) is typical of every teenager everywhere, and it’s not at all contradictory for a teenager to do this even though they love their guardian. It’s 100% normal. A person being angry when a friend lies to them and manipulates them is a rational reaction (TCW Deception), and if ANYONE is guilty of disordered behavior here, it’s Obi-Wan with his shocking lack of empathy. Anakin didn’t come off the rails with the whole “Obi-Wan isn’t really my friend, he’s out to get me” deal until the tail end of RotS, when Obi-Wan really was out to get Anakin. We don’t see anything remotely like that before then. We see a teenager frustrated with rules, we see an adult upset at being lied to and manipulated, and we see some mutual communication SNAFUs, but we don’t see turbulent, foundationless devaluing.
- Padme - Both Anakin and Padme are very young considering their roles in life, and their relationship can be rocky and immature sometimes. (And not just on Anakin’s part - there was a TCW ep where Anakin had to cut an evening with Padme short to go do Jedi Business and when he showed up the Senate building later to talk to her, she greeted him with an icy “Oh, so now you have time for me?”) Anakin has some jealousy issues, and I’m not going to insult anyone’s intelligence by pretending he doesn’t, but he does not devalue Padme or think she’s against him until the end of RotS - and we’ve already covered that incident.  There are absolutely some unhealthy things about the relationship (even before Mustafar), but it doesn’t fit with the BPD criteria here or indicate he’s in the habit of devaluing Padme as a person.
- Palpatine - Well hell, Anakin’s main problem here was that he was blindly loyal! If Anakin had mistrusted Palpatine at all or pushed him away, a lot of really bad shit wouldn’t have happened.
*identity disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable self image or sense of self*
Anakin is absolutely struggling to find his place in the galaxy, but again - self discovery and finding out who you are is a normal part of being teenager and young adult. Not disordered. The Jedi are a batshit cult who try to convince Anakin that his normal, healthy, human emotions are dangerous, and he understandably gets frustrated by it. This isn’t a dysfunction on Anakin’s part, and labeling it as such is fairly abusive in its own right. One of the key elements of gaslighting is when you abuse a person and then blame them for their negative reaction to it. Jedi dogma tries to convince Anakin he’s defective and untrustworthy for having totally normal emotions, and now we’re going to say he’s disordered for reacting to it with anger and confusion? I think we’re fighting in the wrong corner, y'all. And anyways, Anakin doesn’t completely come off the rails with his “the Jedi are evil” deal until the tail end of RotS - not pervasive.
*impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self-damaging (e.g., spending, sex, substance abuse, reckless driving, binge eating).*
Anakin gets dinged for this one a lot in the BPD Anakin theories, and this is one of those areas where we need to take into account that Anakin does not live in our world.  Yes, Anakin is a daredevil. However, acting like you have superpowers isn’t disordered if you actually have superpowers. You wouldn’t call Clark Kent self-destructive for thinking he could jump in front of a bullet. You wouldn’t call Wolverine irrational for thinking he could heal from a wound that would be fatal to anyone else. So it makes no sense to call Anakin self-damaging for acting like he’s some sort of badass super pilot who can deflect blaster fire with a lightsaber.  *recurrent suicidal behavior, gestures, or threats, or self-mutilating behavior*  - None of this applies at all, unless we’re talking about general daredevil stuff, and then - see above.
*affective instability due to a marked reactivity of mood (e.g., intense episodic dysphoria, irritability, or anxiety usually lasting a few hours and only rarely more than a few days)*
This one’s iffy, especially when you’re dealing with someone who’s constantly in the front lines of a war zone, as it calls into question whether anxiety and irritability are disordered in this context. Anakin definitely seems to be anxious and irritable, but he and the people he loves are constantly in harm’s way. You could definitely make a case for PTSD here, but BPD doesn’t fit considering there are very real, very legitimate causes for anxiety and irritability.
*chronic feelings of emptiness* I haven’t seen any direct canonical evidence to support this.
*inappropriate, intense anger or difficulty controlling anger*
LMAO okay, y'all can have this one. Homeboy’s got some anger management issues. (I still say a lot of the time when he’s pissed off, he’s got a good reason to be, but DAMN he does a shitty job of handling it in a remotely constructive way.)
*transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms*
Nope. It’s not paranoia if they’re really out to get you, ya know? He thinks the council doesn’t trust him. They *don’t* and they’ve never been shy about showing it. He thinks his mother is being tortured to death. She *is*, and prophetic dreams are a real thing in Anakin’s universe, and a power that Anakin has been canonically confirmed to possess. He has premonitions of Padme dying in childbirth. Again, he is canonically confirmed to have the power of prophecy, and the *last* time he ignored a prophetic dream, it cost his mother her life. Taking his dreams seriously is not paranoia, and it’s not him having a dissociative episode. (Yeah, there’s a fan theory that Palpatine planted the Padme dream in Anakin’s head, but even so, that’s not evidence of a disorder with Anakin. It’s more like the equivalent of a forensics expert planting extremely convincing fake evidence at a crime scene, then blaming the cops when they think it’s real.)
So there are the 9 symptoms. You need five or more for a BPD diagnosis. Anakin has ONE. *Maybe* two if you squint really hard and tilt your head. If Anakin were a regular adult human on regular earth who wasn’t in a war zone, wasn’t caught up in a crazy religious order that was shaming him for being human, and wasn’t being manipulated by a goddamn Sith Lord, it would be another matter. But he is, and it’s not accurate to diagnose mental disorders while completely ignoring cultural factors and extenuating circumstances like being a General on the front lines of a war or being preyed upon by a master manipulator.
tl;dr - The “BPD Anakin” theory might seem reasonable at first glance, but it holds significantly less water when we stop pulling Anakin out of his own environment and either analyzing him in a vacuum, or analyzing him against the backdrop of our own world rather than in the context of *his* world, his environment, and his reality in a galaxy far, far away.

Parisa and Reina
After reading the recent excerpt from The Atlas Paradox, and having received my hardcover of The Attlas Six by, I reread the book.
This is basically a post to express that Reina and Parisa’s interactions have me in a chokehold; not in terms of blind shipping, but more than anything else because of what it brings forth for the two characters.
There are certain similarities between Reina and Parisa. Both are guarded in their own way and neither of them is an overemotional person. Both are whip-smart and overanalyze those around them, always reading the room.
I am very interested in the way these two have approached life. People want to use them. They want to use Parisa’s bodies and anyone knowing their shit would eventually try to use Reina’s naturalism. For Parisa not being seen would never be a choice, so she chose to make herself seen even more. She asserts herself. She takes control of situations that she might eventually end up in, with the difference being that she would be disempowered within them. On the other hand, Reina chose not to be seen. She isolated herself, spent time not being herself to the point that she lost parts of herself, because she wanted to avoid being used. Both women are seen as objects in a way, one chose to let herself be used on her own terms and taking advantage of the situation to use others herself, the other simply took herself out of the way.
What many people find of worth in Parisa is external (her body and appearance, even though this is the least of what makes her an asset), while what they would value in Reina is purely her power. Parisa is fully aware of her value and it is something that she is constantly made aware of every day because of the way others approach her. On the contrary, Reina removed herself too much. So much that many people cannot see her worth. Atlas who knows more about her powers can. But, in the excerpt from The Atlas Paradox, we see that Reina, who has always known her worth as much as Parisa does, is disappointed and thrown of balance realizing that Nico does not see that value. Reina does not want to be seen, but she also doesn’t want to be underappreciated. She doesn’t want to be used, but the idea that she has worth is what drives her in a defensive way of living. But Reina’s value relates to her power, which by extent relates to being used. Nico seeing Reina as an unthreatening ensemble of her mistakes and not seeing any applicability or having any regard of her power is an affront to Reina’s sense of her value. This is something that Parisa seems to realize, even before Reina herself does. Parisa is having her fun, knowing how this will affect Reina, but I believe that she’s also aware that Nico is wrong to not find Reina threatening at all. This is exactly what she used on Reina; making her realized how misconceived she is by the Alexandrian she seems to be closest to.
This scene is so ironic considering that, back in TA6, Parisa’s first resolution was to put Reina under a ‘DO NOT DISTURB’ category because she is the one she found most threatening. Her change of attitude was given room by Reina’s concealed insecurities, which of course Parisa can see, and with the fact that Reina is a challenge to her. While Parisa was instantly of Reina’s attitude and of her raw power, she soon saw that Reina had not control of her naturalist gifts in the same way that most naturalists did. This is something that Reina herself knows, saying that her power is like being naturalism itself, rather than merely being a naturalist. She is like a conduit rather than a wielder. Another thing Parisa soon notices is that everyone, even little, anxious Libbie Rodes, thinks they are the best there; except Reina. She uses this knowledge over Reina in too many circumstances.
On the other hand, Reina sees Parisa’s strength, but she also finds her distasteful. She sees her as a ruthless succubus, as a shameless whore who is willing to step on bodies to get what she wants. She sees Parisa as not being useful, not because she does not see Parisa’s value, but because she considers her as someone who always takes whatever she wants without ever giving back to anyone. More than just considering Parisa to be an asshole, I think that Reina is somewhat envious of the doors Parisa’s appearance and attitude can open for her, while being made uncomfortable by the way she uses her sexuality. Parisa saw in Reina’s mind that she thinks she ought to feel sorry for her and that this thought was actually coming from a good place. On a certain level I believe that Reina realizes that Parisa’s choices have been for self-preservation as much as they were because of ambition. Nevertheless, seeing Parisa weaponizing her womanhood, as Reina calls it, makes her so uncomfortable that she can’t look past it and allow herself to humanize Parisa in her mind. I would love to see if this is strictly a moral stance, or if Reina’s experience of her asexuality and her distance from desire and sex in general, and even more so as weapons, makes her uncomfortable when it comes to a way of wielding power that she is foreign to her. One that is quite effective within the society, by the way.
There is a clash of the way these women think of power, be it Medeian or the very human power of asserting one’s will over others. Parisa thinks that Reina takes too little, while Reina looks Parisa down for trying to take everything.
Nevertheless, these two seem to gravitate towards each other. Reina never admits that she appreciates Parisa but she is watchful of her. She picks up the book that Parisa reads, she looks at Parisa to read the severity of certain situations through her reactions to them and, despite pretending that she is not affected, Parisa ends up getting to her more than anyone else. On the other hand, Parisa is always trying to get to Reina. I think that this is happening for several reasons. Reina is very straight-forward in some ways, despite her walls. She directs thoughts at Parisa and, knowing that she can get in their heads either way, she doesn’t mind giving her access in several occasions. Reina’s asexuality is not limited to not experiencing sexual attraction. Based on the preview of The Atlas Paradox, she does not feel arousal at all. Consequently, Parisa has no chance of using her usual weapon. This would be fascinating to her because she has to put in more effort AND because Reina is probably the only person there who does not want to use her body.
I find their interactions absolutely fascinating and beautifully crafted.

It did not surprise Butch at all that Buttercup, the girl he had sworn to beat the crap out of as kids because a) he needed a hobby and b) she was the only person on the planet who could take a punch, had grown up to be the coolest girl he knew.
She was grounded, got caught coming home late from a party stinking of weed, and her father didn’t believe Bubbles’ cover story. But even still, she snuck out to go to the Blue Quake concert Butch had saved up all his tips for the last four months to get tickets to. Yeah, he could have given her ticket to Wes or Elmer or any of the others, but she’d punch him in the dick and pogo stick her way to the concert on his stiff corpse if he so much as dared, her words.
Butch, being seventeen and human, felt a brief rush at the idea that she’d come into any sort of contact with his dick, violent in nature or not, but he soon got over it because Blue Quake was happening and they were going together and they were going to have the greatest time ever.
Their tickets admitted them to the floor center stage, where the mosh pit soon undulated in full force, and Butch was living. The music was stupid good, the guitar riffs quickened his blood almost as hot as Chemical X, and next to him was the fucking cherry on top.
The cherry threw her arm around him and sang the chorus to this song directly in his ear. Her bangs were sweaty on his cheek, and he could barely hear her voice over his own heartbeat and the adrenaline, but she was warm and happy and that made him laugh. The mosh pit jostled them, but they were Super and invincible and together, and they were having the best fucking time.
xxx
Buttercup’s phone buzzed in her skirt pocket. It was probably Blossom wondering when she’d be back, and she couldn’t cover for her all night, and she really needed to wrap things up soon before the Professor got wise and figured out where Buttercup was.
Five more minutes. Five more minutes and then she’d be satisfied, but she’d said that five minutes ago, and she didn’t have the heart to tell Butch she had to go, so she didn’t. He could have given her ticket to one of the guys and not worried about curfew or angry dads, but he didn’t. And that surprised her. Butch had ditched her plenty of times before, threats notwithstanding, but not this time. She didn’t care to think about it too much, preferring to have fun in this moment with him.
“That’s our show!” the lead singer said. The crowd cheered, expecting the encore that would definitely come as fans threw flowers and shirts and themselves at the stage in shameless abandon.
“Wow!” Buttercup laughed. “They’re obviously doing an encore, what gives?”
“Hey, Buttercup.” Butch had to press his lips to her ear to be heard over the screaming. “Give me your panties.”
A punch to the dick was her gut instinct, but the lizard-brained part of her suspected he’d like that in his twisted way. He’d been good, solid even, and she was in the best mood.
Buttercup slid her panties off over her boots and shoved them at Butch. “You better make that count, asshole.”
He looked at her like he couldn’t believe she’d actually complied, because he probably couldn’t. He probably had never even held a girl’s underwear before, and that made Buttercup kind of proud. Aw, I’m his first. She leaned heavily into the pride so her anxiety wouldn’t consume her—what did he think of her now?
Butch barked a laugh like he’d forgotten how and clutched her panties in his fist. He averted his gaze. “You dirty bitch.”
“I can see your half chub,” she taunted right back.
Butch’s breath was hot on her forehead. “Bet you can.” He dropped his hand around her waist, and she thought about how she was bare now under her skirt and he knew that.
He raised her panties in his fist and fired off his blaster. The panties went up in green flames and landed on the stage with a flourish. The crowd howled and clapped, and Blue Quake started up their encore.
Buttercup made it home half an hour later to Bubbles playing mobile games without a care in the world and Blossom down in the kitchen entertaining their father.
“She covered for you,” Bubbles said, not looking up from her game.
“I owe her.”
“She watched The Price is Right with him.”
Buttercup winced. “I really owe her.”
“Yup.”
She showered and changed, and after apologizing to Blossom fifteen times and promising her a favor of her choice in the future, she settled into bed with her phone. There was a text from Butch.
[Butch: Confession: I kept your panties]
[Buttercup: I saw you incinerate them!]
[Butch: I didn’t. Got them right here]
He sent her a picture of her singed underwear splayed lovingly on his bedspread.
[Buttercup: You nasty fuck]
[Buttercup: Guess you’ll have a good night beating off]
Butch’s chat bubbles bounced for a long time, then disappeared. Buttercup bit her lip. It was a long time before he responded.
[Butch: Thanks for coming out. Was fun]
“Buttercup, turn off that light. I’m trying to sleep,” Blossom murmured.
Buttercup ignored her.
[Buttercup: Thanks for not giving away my ticket. It was cool of you]
His chat bubbles bounced and bounced. She imagined him typing in his bed, and she thought about his lips against her temple, warm and a little wet. She wondered what he was thinking now (probably fighting or fucking), if it was about her (it was always about her). Buttercup told herself these things, but she didn’t truly know. She’d never asked him. How do you even ask someone that? Do you think about me in bed at night? Fucking weird.
[Butch: Going to sleep. Talk tomorrow?]
Buttercup sat with that question mark for a long time. Hope? Indecision? Uncertainty? God, she felt like Blossom overanalyzing fucking punctuation marks in text messages. She thought about actually asking Blossom, but decided against it after everything Blossom had already done for her tonight. This was Butch, and she was overreacting. She decided to go with her gut, which had always worked with him before.
[Buttercup: Yeah. DOTA?]
His reply was immediate.
[Butch: Definitely]
[Buttercup: 🔫]
He liked her message, and she put her phone away. She may be grounded, but she’d hear his voice as she destroyed him in DOTA tomorrow. He’d bitch and moan about it, like he always did, but she didn’t mind so much.
And maybe…
Maybe she’d ask him.
Maybe.

WHEN TXT FIND OUT THAT THEIR YOUR FIRST BOYFRIEND
REQ . . Hey !! I wanted to request a txt reaction to them being your first boyfriend?? I just love that concept :')
˒ we should all be so lucky as to have yeonjun as a first relationship smh he’d be so cute with you
Tumblr media
YEONJUN
he would take it really seriously. he wants to make sure that dating him is a good experience because he knows how big of an impression your first boyfriend can have. he’s very polite and respectful and always discusses boundaries and the things that you’re comfortable with. he wants to make sure that he doesn’t accidentally do anything to make you feel uncomfy or unsafe in your relationship, but he also likes the feeling of introducing you to new things.
“don’t worry, y/n,” he always teases you, squeezing your cheeks affectionately. “i’ll take care of you!”
it’s even worse if he’s older than you. he would constantly treat you like a baby (lovingly of course) and never lets you forget how much older and wiser he alegedly is compared to you. even if you were older, he still insists that his experience makes him your senior by principal.
SOOBIN
he feels really nervous about it at first. he didn’t know that you’d never been in a relationship when he confessed to you and while it doesn’t change how much he likes you, it does make him feel much more protective of you. he would go through a phase where he overanalyzes his every move, worrying that it would leave a bad impression on you, but you trust him. he values that trust a lot, especially because he’s the first one to earn it.
“are you okay?” soobin asks before you even have a chance to say hello. you were calling him to let him know you had gotten home safe, as he always insisted, but it had taken a little longer than normal because of the rain. you could feel soobin’s concern for you oozing through the phone as he scolded you, “you should have just stayed here. i can’t believe i let you walk home when it was supposed to rain. make sure you drink something warm, okay? i’ll come over tomorrow with soup or something.”
BEOMGYU
he wouldn’t worry about it nearly as much as yeonjun or soobin. he just thinks you’re cute and he likes making you feel shy by openly flirting with you. he’s completely shameless when it comes to making you feel flustered. you just look so cute whenever you squirm and hide your face behind your hands. he can’t help it the way he coos at you, pinching one of your cheeks softly to make fun of you.
“this is all so new to you, isn’t it princess?” he teases, cupping your face in his hands so he can squish your face gently. he laughs at the way you push his hands away from you, your nose scrunching up in response. “such a cutie! so innocent and small.”
mostly he just likes being more experienced than you. he doesn’t worry too much about being your first boyfriend because he knows that you’ll tell him if you don’t like anything. that’s the one thing he always stresses: that you can tell him anything.
TAEHYUN
he wouldn’t stress out over it too much. this is taehyun’s first serious relationship too, so he doesn’t worry too much about trying to impress you or act a certain way. he knows that you like each for each other, so he doesn’t try to be anyone other than himself. he likes that he can be himself around you, so he always does everything he can to encourage you to be open with him too.
“you’re okay,” he whispers softly so that no one else in the room can hear. carefully, he slips his hand into yours, giving your fingers a reassuring squeeze. you recently had a conversation about how anxious you get around large groups of people, so he was doing his best to make you feel more comfortable.
you’re holding his hand so tightly. taehyun takes a breath, fighting a smile in spite of himself. he loves it when you trust him to take care of you. he values your trust a lot, so it means a lot to him when you tell him things that scare you and let him help you.
HUENINGKAI
to be honest, kai might over think it a little in the beginning. he’s not quite sure how to be your boyfriend, but he really wants to be a good one. he would ask the other members a lot about what the things you say mean like whether or not he should push you when you say you’re fine but he has a feeling that you’re not or what it means when you say you don’t want food and then get upset with him for not sharing his. he’s a little confused, but he’s got the spirit.
“wait, are you really mad?” kai asks, feeling panic fill his chest. you were pouting, arms crossed, across the table from him, but the concern on his face makes you laugh out loud.
“no, stupid, i’m not really mad,” you giggle, despite the way he whines at you that you can’t do that to him, punching your shoulder gently.

i’ve also been studying all day so i feel your pain TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE FIC OF YOURS !
hi thank you so much for the ask!!!!! studying absolutely sucks and i am so exhausted so it is much appreciated
my favorite fic of mine is probably a tie between two cause i honestly don’t think i could pick
one of them is my most popular one, the shortest fic i’ve written, and one of only two published fics i have from eddie’s pov, and it is i don’t want you like a best friend. it took me so long to write this fic and i’m so so proud of it and it also is possibly my favorite first kiss scene that i’ve written cause this is just like peak vibes:
He takes another deep breath, knowing these next words will change them forever, for better or worse. “I don’t want to date Ana because she isn’t you,” he whispers, afraid to speak louder and possibly shatter this moment. “She isn’t you, and you’re— god, you’re everything, Buck, and I can’t—”
He’s cut off by Buck’s lips pressing against his, hard and passionate and perfect. His hands fly up to grab Buck’s face and pull him impossibly closer, pouring every ounce of desperation and love that he feels into the kiss.
He feels the final puzzle piece slide into place, and everything suddenly makes so much more sense, every lingering touch that sent shivers down his spine, every glance that was held for just a split second too long, every time he’d looked at Buck and felt like the room was spinning, every moment spent with Buck that felt more right than anything he’d ever experienced.
so yeah shameless self plug but i love this fic and i’m very proud of it please read it 💛
and my other favorite is the longest fic i’ve ever written (it took me like three months to finish and not just cause i kept getting distracted and starting new fics). it is 100% inspired by the love confession at the end of season 1 of hsmtmts and i will not apologize for that. it is also the first part in a series (will i ever finish the sequel? who knows) and it is my pride and joy and i’m scared to talk to my best friend.
basically this whole fic was just an excuse to overanalyze buck’s facial expressions in buddie scenes but i had a good time. and by good time i meant i nearly had like 18 different mental breakdowns watching the same 2 seconds over and over again trying to figure out exactly what buck was feeling. but it’s also my favorite love confession i’ve ever written (it’s very long i’m sorry):
“I love you!” he blurts out, his voice so loud there’s no way Eddie didn’t hear him. Eddie whips around, his expression looking like he just got hit in the face with a frying pan.
“I’ve loved you since the first time I saw you at the firehouse, and you were the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen in my life, and I was so angry at how I felt about you that I didn’t know what to do with myself," he continues, heart pounding. "And I’ve wanted to say it every day since then, I’ve wanted to say it so many times, and I’ve kicked myself every day for not saying it, but I do, I love you.”
He feels like a physical weight has been lifted off of his chest with the confession, and where before it felt like he could never get the words to come out, now he can’t seem to stop them. “I love you because you’re the best person I’ve ever met in my life, and the best friend I’ve ever had, and the best dad in the world to Christopher. I love you because I’d never felt at home anywhere until I met you, but now I know that wherever you and Chris are, that’s my home."
"I love you because there’s no one else who listens to all the stupid shit I say and actually listens, and there’s no one else who knows everything about me and likes me anyways, and there’s no one else I can spend every minute of every day with and never get tired of them." He's not sure if he wants to laugh or cry, all of the honesty pouring out bringing with it a wave of emotion almost too intense to handle.
"And I have no idea what’s gonna happen tonight, or tomorrow, or in thirty seconds when I finally shut up, but all I know is that I can’t go another day without you knowing how much you mean to me. Being your best friend and Christopher’s friend is the greatest part of my life, and if that’s all you want, then I promise I can deal with it, I just know that I can’t lose you. And you don’t have to say anything, I just—I needed you to know. We never have to talk about this again, I can go, I just—”
“Buck,” Eddie says, cutting him off. He looks hesitantly at Eddie, his expression unreadable. “I don’t—I’m not that good with words, so can you just—bear with me for a second?”
Buck nods hesitantly, mostly just surprised that Eddie doesn’t look angry, preparing himself for the gentle rejection. Eddie takes a deep breath, crosses the room to Buck in two strides, grabs Buck’s face in between his hands, and kisses him.
that scene took me so long to write and i love so much how it turned out and i’m very excited to hopefully one day maybe write it from eddie’s pov
so yeah this was probably way longer than you were wanting but here ya go!

Me overanalyzing this match (and lowkey summarizing it so uh oops sorry) because I felt like it:
So from the start Matt was highkey angry. He went after Don who taunted him since he was pissed about the slap, and just everything about his body language was determined. Remember, he had to pump himself up a lot for this match, usually he walks down the entrance tunnel all fine, maybe swinging his arms a little like Nick did, but this time he was running in place, bouncing, clearly this isn’t a normal match.
Then when Kenny wants to be tagged in, he deflates a little, he doesn’t want to face Kenny like this, but he has to do his job. Kenny motions to Don, probably talking about something related to the slap, and they circle until they lock up. Kenny shoves Matt to the ropes, Matt shoves Kenny back, but after they break it’s Kenny who slaps Matt next.
Kenny instigates the lock up and the slap, not having as much inner conflict about attacking Matt. He walked out like it was a normal match, not against his friends who he cares about.
Then Nick wants tagged in. Kenny gestures with his finger, “look at me”. He wants Nick to know exactly who he’s in the ring with, doesn’t want him to pay attention to anything but him. There’s a bit of Nick being fine with wrestling Kenny, treating him like any other opponent, until Kenny showboats. That gets Nick angry, and on the outside Kenny looks a bit pissed for the first time.
Kenny tags in Anderson and Nick looks like “what the hell”. He wasn’t holding back, he wanted to wrestle Kenny. Things get interesting with the Good Brothers, Nick’s perfectly fine wrestling them, and Matt is too. The same Matt who broke his hold on Kenny clean and didn’t have any signs of attacking him again. So it’s not them Matt has the problem with, it’s Kenny.
When Matt and Kenny are in the ring together next, Kenny has no issues hurting Matt. He takes a four count to break the hold on his arm (after attacking his arm earlier). He’s in it to win, not to mend relationships or be friendly.
Eventually Matt and Kenny are both tagged in again, but Kenny stops him from immediately attacking, wanting to lock up again. But Matt doesn’t want to, he just goes wild on Kenny. Until Kenny’s staggering and he goes to superkick him. He tries to psyche himself up to do it, really does, but he can’t do it. He can’t superkick his friend.
He goes to check on Kenny who just slaps him, then again, and again. Kenny doesn’t want special treatment, he wants Matt to attack him like a normal opponent. Matt takes a few more slaps before having enough and beating down Kenny until the ref forces him apart.
Kenny snapdragons Matt a few times and tries to v-trigger him, and he would have if it weren’t for Moxley coming in and stopping him with a clothesline. That lets Matt get Kenny up and do a piledriver on Kenny who kicks out of a pin attempt. But instead of going back on the offense, Matt checks on Kenny.
Matt cares more about his friend than winning the match, even after all the showboating at the beginning, he doesn’t want to hurt Kenny. A little while later they’re in the same position again, Matt in the ring checking on Kenny after a pin attempt.
This time Nick’s angry, he wants Matt to try to pin Kenny. Their relationship doesn’t matter in the match, he wants to win. And Matt’s emotions are getting in the way of that. So Nick takes things into his own hands and sets Kenny up for the BTE Trigger.
Reluctantly, only after coaxing by Nick, Matt takes Kenny’s hand. But his hand’s in a fist, not a gun like Nick’s hand. Matt doesn’t pull the trigger even when Nick wants him to, too conflicted over Kenny. He drops Kenny’s hand.
Only after coaxing by Moxley does Matt try again, hitting himself in the face to psyche himself up for it as Nick shouts at him to actually do the move this time. But his hand is in a fist again in opposition to Nick’s gun, and Matt doesn’t do it again. Nick and Moxley shout at him but he doesn’t do it, leading to Moxley tagging himself in again.
Matt tries to stop Moxley from attacking Kenny again, but Moxley doesn’t listen, going for him anyway. Eventually Nick joins in on trying to protect Kenny but Moxley still doesn’t listen, leading to Nick superkicking him first to save Kenny. Matt’s angry, he didn’t want to superkick Moxley, but he had to save Kenny. Kenny comes first above all else.
Afterwards they don’t even look happy with themselves, more resigned to their fate as Kenny’s friends to the end of the line (shameless Marvel reference). Matt knows he can’t break away from Kenny, they’re defeated in a way. It’s kinda hard to put Nick in the end into words, he’s not as conflicted about it as Matt is. He’s... tired if I had to pick a word.
I don’t know if it’s tired in he just did a match, tired as in there’s been so much fighting with Kenny he doesn’t know what to do anymore, or tired of putting up an act. But for a moment it looked like he let some sort of wall slip and had to pull it back up before anyone noticed what happened.
Essentially: it breaks down to this. Matt still cares deeply about Kenny. Kenny doesn’t care much about him. Nick’s mad at Matt (at least a tiny bit), and they’re definitely not fine. They’re an absolute mess.
Now does the fact Matt wanted to hug instead of too sweet mean something? Probably. Do I have the brain cells to put that together now? Absolutely not.
I know this was terribly put together so sorry, but if you want an actually brilliant analysis head here because it’s amazing and so is Bailey.

Not me sitting around overanalyzing all their body movements in their banquet speech
Look at the shameless 🐶he just keeps swinging into 🐱's personal space, then keeps inching closer and closer with each swing until there's no room for Jesus between them. The sheer 🐶 energy is astounding, who couldn't love him when that kind of naked affection is directed at them
And of course 🐱must tease 🐶's singing and then they're just lost in their two person unit trying to pick a song. Is the emcee talking? Who gives a fuck? And the fan favorite 🐶leaning his head down anytime 🐱has anything to say.
Listen I'm from a culture of arranged marriages. And for those couples who don't know each other super well there's always a pre-fuck and post-fuck dynamic. You can almost always tell when the couple has finally fucked. Suddenly, the stiff couples sit with their shoulders brushing and steal glances at each other every 3 seconds.
Now, I'm not saying that in that video 🐱🐶 are most definitely in their post-fuck stage but I'm also not not saying that
