i already mentioned this once, so i'm shamelessly copy-pasting: I love re-watch this scene, i love this song (and i'm so sad that it's been removed from spotify but ok whatever). It's incredibly emotional, that's all. Mickey is so protective, there are so many thoughts on his face. And this silent talk with Svetlana screams very loudly for me. things I would love to read: EMT!Ian and ER nurse!Mickey who meet at the hospital when Ian is on a call bringing a patient to the hospital—maybe they get along at first, maybe they don't, but after they run into each other a few times Ian starts looking forward to when they end up at Mickey's hospital (no he's not been obsessively trying to figure out Mickey's shift rotation, why do you ask)

and one day he and his partner have dropped off a patient and it's lunch and they're starving, so they decide to eat at the hospital since they're already there, and Ian sees Mickey at a table outside, and there's nowhere else to sit because the weather is nice and the employees are taking advantage of the sunshine

so Ian is all "mind if I sit here?" and Mickey is like "I ain't stoppin' ya, red" and it's awkward at first but then they somehow manage to break the ice—this may lead to Mickey showing Ian where on the smoke-free hospital campus is a sneaky place for them to light up and share a cigarette 😉

anyway the boys end up bonding and chatting and Ian finds an excuse to get Mickey's number and it'd just be cute as hell <3

Fandom is what keeps me invested in a TV show after it is over, and while I love Ian and Mickey’s story, there was an insane amount of stuff we didn’t get to see, especially in their early years.

I love that fandom exists to fill in the blanks and that I can read filler fic and fix it fic all day long and never risk running out of stories to read.

thank you @gallacrafts for this months theme. it hit harder than it should have. this fucking show, man.

my friend died last night, really suddenly and i didn't get to say goodbye. kinda bittersweet timing for this, right?

but she was the one i would talk about shameless with, we were both obsessed when the us version came out in 2011, we'd trade the latest episode on a usb in the high school hallways along with all the other girls bc it was one of the shows that connected all of us. really weird to think about now, no matter what little clique you were in that this one show gave us all something to share, just 100+ 13-14 year old girls and it was a beautiful time. and i miss it.

im sorry for the rushed outcome, i couldn't bring myself to finish it.

this might be rlly controversial, but i don’t really like the ‘reunion between Mickey and Yevgeny’ trope. i think it’s such a sweet idea, but at the end of the day i don’t think it would be at all good for mickey. he wasn’t a good dad to yev, but he did try. in my opinion, he didn’t love him like a dad should love his kid and he’s allowed to not want to have to look after a child born in that way. there is no debate that svetlana is a very good mother and loved yevgeny, so even though her and mickey are in a similar situation regarding the rape, she loved the child and mickey just didn’t. sure, mickey cared about him, and maybe given time he could love him but i just don’t see him wanting the baby back. and that sucks for the baby and maybe svetlana if she struggles being a single parent (that old man ain’t doin shit).

I do have really complicated feelings about this one though, so please don’t come at me. i’m not hating on svetlana, im not saying it should all be her responsibility because she’s the mother, but i am saying that mickey shouldn’t HAVE to be responsible for a child born in that way.
