Like, how can thousands of people on this hellsite be like “yeah, don’t be antisemitic! Antisemitism is bad! Don’t say [insert the most blatantly antisemitic statement ever]! Instead, say [insert the SECOND-most blatantly antisemitic statement ever]!”
I don’t use this term lightly, but I feel like I’m being gaslit???? Like, did I read that post wrong??? I don’t think so, but how can so many people, including the person I follow who put this on my dash (and whom I’ve been following for a long time and until now I respected), be this fucking stupid???

The Rosier twins are the best at telling lies. Him and Pandora could have you doubting your entire existence if they wanted to. One time I think they halfway convinced Barty that Pandora was actually adopted, and it was only “halfway” because they were just joking and therefore not trying very hard to be convincing. Barty felt kind of dumb after that, though, because they look pretty much the exact the same even though they’re fraternal.

Lord, give me strength. The PJO discourse has begun, and no one starting it has read the books in the last five years.

Sometimes I think about how wild tawnypelt was as a character
Local girl who looks nothing like her father goes to join her exiled murderous fathers bloody dictatorship because she was being compared to him while her brother who is identical to him doesnt, she witnesses her father’s regime do public executions and multiple war crimes, never really ever comes out against him or mentions regret for leaving or fear at any of this, named her son after him after he died and supposedly rejected him in her dreams, none of this is really connected at all and she does nothing of relevance ever

danganronpa rarepair week 2023 DAY SIX: pride/postcard feat: makoto/kokichi
for day six, i decided to go with a more, like, "we may not be very compatible as people/classmates, but we do share that familiar experience of figuring out who we are" kind of theme with my personal headcanon(s) for these two. like an uplifting "you're not alone in this" type of vibe?? yknow what i mean? lmao happy pride month! ✌🏼

i know chase obviously wins the religious trauma competition but can we please talk about how foreman was not only raised by a deeply religious father, but was most likely raised BAPTIST. no wonder he’s so repressed. the baptist experience is like. you’re in church every sunday listening to a man scream about how love is something that should hurt. you believe in a good, loving god - but to believe, you have to accept that true love is painful. that to be a good person, you must suffer. to love is to endure it, to work mercilessly. you’re not worthy of the love of The Almighty, and you never will be, and that sense of unworthiness is fundamental to having faith. when you sin, you don’t just hurt Him, you hurt everyone around you. you make the world worse because you have dared commit the sin of existence — to be human is to be sinful. to be loved is to feel unworthy and pathetic and hopeless. like YEAH no wonder foreman self isolates and is emotionally closed off. he was taught from BIRTH that he is fundamentally unworthy of love, and that in accepting love, he is also accepting that he truly is worthless.

This has nothing to do with SW, I just felt like saying it:
I feel like a lot of us on this site probably could identify a specific book or series we read as children or teenagers that impacted us more than any other. It's the book/series that disproportionately shaped our senses of what a book or a genre could be and changed us in some fundamental way beyond the reach of every other book we were reading at the time. People joke these days about books or other media that "alter your brain chemistry," but this book honestly did feel like that.
Maybe this isn't everyone, but it was definitely something that happened to me as a kid. I still own the same copy of the book that did this for me. I've hung onto it for over 20 years, partly because I still love the story, and partly because I have such a strong sentimental attachment to my particular paperback copy of a book that blew open my sense of what a fantasy story could be and what ideas it could engage with.
It not only made me want to read the next book in its series, it made me want to write books myself and imagine my own worlds beyond my hobby of writing little sketches and stories for myself. I previously had no intention of showing those scraps to anyone else, but this book made me want to write fantasy seriously, to write things I might some day show other people without being embarrassed about it. And the book not only inspired me to want this, but convinced me I could do it. I started writing creatively in earnest and I never stopped.
It wasn't any of the books I usually talk about, either. Here's what it was for me:

[Photographs of a paperback copy of Diane Duane's High Wizardry from around 2001]
I've been thinking of what fantasy favorites I'll re-read after I drag myself through what remains of my dissertation and ... honestly, it will probably be High Wizardry.

People saying 'everyone loves Hayden Anakin now that he has a good script'....FUCK OFF. The script was never the actual reason the dudebro fanboys hated Anakin in the Prequels. They had already viciously hated on little Ani back in TPM. And not because of so-called 'bad writing', but because he was a cute, precocious little kid and they couldn't stand that being associated with their beloved 'badass' Vader. And likewise, they IMMEDIATELY decided to hate Anakin in AotC when Hayden was cast because he was a pretty boy instead of whatever headcanon they wanted for him. They resented Anakin in the Prequels because he was first depicted as a sweet and caring child who loved his mother, and then later because he was an emotionally vulnerable young man who had a romantic storyline and was motivated by love and his fear of losing those he loved. The fanboys hated Prequels Anakin because he wasn't Vader. They wanted Vader. They have always worshipped Vader. THAT is the reason. Not the script. Seriously, there are so many older male fans who are STILL bitter over a 'pretty boy' playing Anakin. Stop blaming the script for everything. The Prequel films and Hayden Anakin were only thought to be universally 'hated' due to the fact that the fanboys ruled the internet in those early days, and spread the hate around with no one to counter it. The Prequels are way better films than anything Disney could EVER hope to produce, and it's infuriating that people are acting like the material Disney of all things churns out is somehow the 'reason' people like Hayden Anakin now. No, it's because they've had time to go back and appreciate his role in the Prequels and seen that it's actually a compelling story and his performance is, in fact, good.

I absolutely LOVE how they reworked the Stranger’s route and design! It’s so much better than anything we saw in the demo! The themes of that chapter cohere so beautifully, and the Princess’ final design is so wonderfully nightmarish that I infinitely prefer it to even the first Stranger design. Abby and Tony really outdid themselves here, I can tell Nichole had a lot of fun doing the voicework for this chapter, and kudos to the sound mixer who handled Johnny’s lines for the part where everything starts happening all at once!

I have SO much work to do this week and spent all day in meetings rather than doing any of it. (Boooooo) The meetings were mostly new hire interviews with fresh-from-college hopefuls, and ooof. God, I do NOT miss being that age.
