I bought my mum a Christmas present today, and the person was so lovely, she started telling me all about her mum who had passed away last week and how meaningful and sweet she thought it was to her that I told her it was a gift for my mum. Something about the way she spoke and was literally the loveliest person made my heart break.

So many things to say, but in one word, handbags are helpful. Besides, helpful or not, it’s certainly an extremely versatile fashion statement she can use to skillfully play up her outfit. But hold on to that opinion, how in the market are you going to purchase bags if you don’t know what your substitutes are?

Ladies, always keep stickers on you
China’s Surrogacy Debate Extends to Women’s Toilets
From universities to hospital toilets, women are finding themselves surrounded by small ads recruiting surrogacy candidates as well as customers. They, and some companies, are hitting back.
By Yang Caini
May 15, 20233-min read #gender#surrogacy
Women in China are covering up surrogacy ads in toilets with stickers and lipstick as they try to discourage other women from becoming surrogates or take up their services.
In late April, a video of an anonymous woman covering up a surrogacy ad with stickers in a women’s bathroom in a hospital in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region went viral online.
Her actions were widely praised, with netizens sharing similar experiences about covering up surrogacy ads they encounter: “I erased these sorts of ads in the toilet of a movie theater.” “I’ve seen ads like this in dorms and school bathrooms.” “They can be found in all three toilets in a Changsha shopping mall.”
Tumblr media
These ads look to recruit surrogates as well as customers. They are usually made up of very few words, with a price and a contact number provided. Many also guarantee a son, the favored sex in China.
Five university students from five different cities told Sixth Tone that they’ve seen the ads “countless times” in toilets. Zhao Yifei, a master’s degree student at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, said that these ads can be found in almost every toilet on campus. She sometimes feels conflicted when scratching them out with her keys.
“On the one hand, I think (surrogacy) can help those families who cannot conceive because of physical reasons. On the other hand … the most likely result is that the rich use surrogacy in large numbers and exploit the poor,” said Zhao.
Commercial surrogacy is banned in China, together with all sales of gametes, fertilized eggs, and embryos. The prohibition has led to the emergence of black markets and cross-bordersurrogacy services that target infertile and same-sex couples.
Surrogate mothers in China can receive up to 280,000 yuan ($40,282) for their services, while customers reportedly pay up to 1.1 million yuan for a surrogate baby with a chosen sex.
The question of whether to legalize surrogacy in China is a heated debate. In 2017, state-run media People’s Daily published an article that discussed legalizing surrogacy to ease the country’s falling birth rate and help infertile senior couples. Opponents, however, decry the practice for exploiting vulnerable women.
Li, who insisted on only using her surname, has kept a marker pen and anti-surrogacy stickers in her handbag since 2019, when she first erased a surrogacy ad in a shopping mall toilet with her lipstick in her hometown of Zhengzhou, the capital city of the central province of Henan.
“I’m embarrassed to say it, but I was thinking about whether the lipstick can still be used afterwards. But this was only for a few seconds — after all, this matter is much more important than lipstick,” Li, 26, told Sixth Tone.
Afterwards, Li purchased anti-surrogacy stickers in case she ran into the ads again. Some of these stickers mention that they are 30 centimeters long, the same length as a needle used for retrieving a woman’s egg. She hopes this scares women thinking about surrogacy by showing what it will mean in practice.
Tumblr media
Some women’s products manufacturers, including sellers of pads and skincare products, are supporting these anti-surrogacy efforts by gifting customers free anti-surrogacy stickers with their purchases.
SISCOM, an online vendor with over 40,000 followers on e-commerce platform Taobao selling feminist merchandise, began giving customers free anti-surrogacy stickers in 2021. “Surrogacy exploits women. It’s banned in China. You will be punished for it,” the stickers read, with a reporting hotline included.
Qiqi, co-owner of SISCOM, told Sixth Tone that she has seen many of these ads herself.
“Sometimes I can’t help but feel that the people who make these ads are so smart … The toilet compartments are so private that you can hardly catch them and ban them,” she said.
Women’s public toilets have been in the news before. In 2020, advocates launched a campaign to install pad-sharing boxes in women’s toilets, which swept across the country.

Starting and Building Your Kawaii Wardrobe – Where to Shop, DIY's, and more!
Originally posted to www.onlyfunthings.org on January 04, 2019
Tumblr media
Ciao lovelies! In the spirit of the New Year, I know some of you may have a New Year’s resolution to “Try new things” or “dress in cute fashion”, or something like it! Maybe your New Year’s Resolution is to try out dressing in kawaii inspired fashion! Maybe you already dress in kawaii fashion but are always looking to expand your wardrobe! Well, today’s post can help, because today we are talking about how to start and build a kawaii wardrobe! I’m going to be giving my shopping tips, links to plenty of DIYs, and more that can help you in your kawaii fashion journey! Let’s go!
Today I’ll be talking about general “Kawaii-Inspired” fashion, not one specific style of Kawaii fashion.
Finding Kawaii Inspired Clothing!
-          If you’re on a budget, my recommendation is to shop in Thrift Stores! You can find really cute pastel sweaters at thrift stores, you can find really cute skirts and dresses, and sometimes even really nice handbags! I have found lots of items that work for a general “kawaii-alternative” fashion look in thrift stores! You really never know what you could find there. I’ve found dresses, skirts, sweaters, bags, and blouses all for really good prices, and all worked for kawaii fashion. You can even find cute home décor and sometimes even cute jewelry! Unsure where to start when it comes to thrifting or just want some tips? Check out our top 5 tips for Thrift Shopping!
-          Another great place to look for “kawaii-inspired” clothing is Hot Topic or Forever 21! You can find cute overalls/overall dresses, t-shirts, skirts, skater dresses, knee and thigh high socks, and other cute clothing! The only problem with these stores is that they can be somewhat expensive.
-          Another option for getting kawaii clothing is to make it yourself! Fabric stores like JoAnn even have patterns you can use if you don’t like drafting your own. And there are plenty of good clothing tutorials online, Yumi King’s channel has many if you search far back in her videos (a good way to do this is to order the videos from “Oldest First”).
-          If making clothes from scratch isn’t your thing, you can always modify clothing to suit your needs! We actually have some clothing modification tutorials, and I will be trying to make more this summer. Our Clothing-Mod tutorials include: Adding Cat Ears to a Hoodie, Shoe Upgrade, DIY Cutsew from a T-shirt, and DIY T-shirt into Tank Top.
Finding Kawaii Inspired Accessories!
-          You can always find kawaii looking accessories in certain shops, you just have to know where to look! Some good stores to look for kawaii accessories in are: Claires, Icing, and Hot Topic! My best advice is to always look through their clearance section! You can find really cute stuff on sale often there.
-          Another place to find cute accessories is in the kid’s section of stores. This might seem weird at first, but kid’s necklaces can be altered into cute bracelets, and you can use charms and such from kid’s jewelry to make into earrings, rings, and brooches.
-          Another great place to find cute accessories is Etsy! There are lots of stores on Etsy that sell cute handmade accessories! Same with Storenvy. The only downside to searching these places for cute handmade jewelry is the higher prices, but you are supporting small businesses, so I say it’s worth it!
-          Lastly, you can also make your own kawaii jewelry! Kawaii charms and other jewelry findings can be bought rather cheaply in lots from Etsy or Aliexpress, and you can make yourself a whole collection of cute accessories! We also have some accessories DIY’s including: How to makeyour own Choker, Chokers level 2, How to make a bag from a dishtowel, …  (To see all our DIY’s, check out our DIY tag!)
Starting and building a kawaii themed wardrobe isn’t hard and doesn’t have to cost a lot if you just know where to look and use a little ingenuity! Happy New Year, and I wish you the best of luck in all your kawaii clothing endeavors this year!
Thank you for reading, remember to love yourself, stay awesome, and I'll see you in our next post!
Remember to Stay Awesome and Love Yourself!

Hermès Reselling: Irrational Investing or Fashion Flipping?
Tumblr media
There is no denying the appeal of Hermès purses. However, some people feel that they are unaffordable due to the exclusivity and exorbitant retail costs. This supports a robust resale market where astute people profit from owning Hermès items.
But is becoming an Hermès reseller a guaranteed path to riches, or a gamble fraught with risk? Let's delve into the world of Hermès resale to see if the profit margins justify the effort.
Remember that you can become an Hermès reseller and sell or buy your original Hermès handbags on Resellers Connector without commissions.
The Hermès Resale Landscape: A Seller's Paradise?
Hermès's controlled distribution strategy creates a constant demand that outstrips supply. This scarcity translates to high resale values for certain Birkin and Kelly styles, especially in exotic leathers or limited-edition colors. Resellers can potentially fetch five to seven times the retail price for these coveted bags.
However, not all Hermès items are created equal. Classic canvas Constance bags or less popular newer models might only retain their retail value, or even depreciate slightly. Understanding the specific Hermès models with strong resale potential is crucial for success.
Challenges on the Hermès Reselling Road
Building Credibility: The luxury resale market is competitive. Establishing yourself as a trustworthy seller takes time and effort. Authenticity is paramount, and potential buyers will scrutinize photos, descriptions, and your reputation before committing. Building a positive online presence through platforms like The RealReal or reputable consignment stores is essential.
Sourcing Hermès: Obtaining Hermès directly from boutiques is notoriously difficult. Sales associates often prioritize long-term clients, leaving resellers with limited options. This can lead to relying on secondary markets or auctions, which introduce risks of inauthenticity and higher competition.
The Hermès Boutique Blacklist: Hermès is known to be wary of resellers. Frequent purchases of popular models might flag you, making it even harder to acquire future inventory directly.
Time Investment: Researching, sourcing, photographing, listing, and negotiating sales takes considerable time. Factor in authentication fees, potential returns, and the time it can take to sell a specific item.
The Math of Hermès Reselling:
Let's consider a scenario. You purchase a pre-owned black Birkin bag for $10,000. After authentication fees and potential repairs, you list it for $20,000. Factoring in a selling platform's commission (typically 15-30%), your profit could be around $5,000-$7,000. This seems lucrative, but remember, it's not guaranteed. The bag might take months to sell, and there's always the risk of not finding a buyer.
Is Hermès Reselling Right for You?
Hermès reselling can be profitable, but it's not a get-rich-quick scheme. Success requires passion for luxury goods, a keen eye for trends, business acumen, and significant time investment.
Alternatives to Consider:
Curated Vintage: Focus on vintage luxury pieces from various brands. This offers a wider selection and potentially avoids the challenges of acquiring Hermès directly.
Freelance Personal Shopping: Utilize your fashion knowledge to help clients find the perfect Hermès pieces, either retail or pre-owned.

When it’s dark outside, and the lights are on, I can see straight into my neighbour’s house. It’s a few days before Christmas, and she appears to be performing a mini Broadway show – in her pyjamas. In front of a tastefully decorated tree, she squeals ‘It’s tiiiiiiimmmeee!!!!’ as she drops to the floor on her knees, spreads jazz hands, and wiggles her chest. Her smile is a dazzling white, her honey-coloured hair sits in bouncy waves. Behind her, three young girls, in matching nightwear, twirl with giant candy sticks.
One day, I pick up binoculars. For hours, I observe this picture-perfect mother, her strong-jawed husband and their five children, as they eat, read, sing and dance. My neighbour opens her curtains a little wider – she wants me to watch her. Soon she starts showing me products she uses so that, I too, can purchase this fantasy existence and be just like her.
I don’t spy on my neighbours. (I would be arrested.) But I’ve spent hours doing a completely legal equivalent: trailing fellow mothers online. Madison Fisher provides footage of everything, from the monumental (the birth of her twins) to the mundane (meal prep), to millions of followers on YouTube and Instagram. She is one of thousands of mothers on social media – dubbed ‘momfluencers’ – who open up their lives for my consumption.
Instagram gained popularity as a clever way to add filters to your spring break photos. When sponsored posts were launched, following the company’s sale to Facebook in 2012, it transformed into something else entirely: a giant shopping mall. In 2021, 3.8 million Instagram posts were marked worldwide with the hashtag #ad, a 27 per cent jump from the year before. Instagram runs on sex, for sure: scantily clad women sell lipstick, handbags and dietary supplements. It also runs on what happens nine months later: babies.

Have you ever left your front door unlocked all night?  Yes. I've also done worse by not only leaving the front door unlocked, but also leaving the door key (where my CAR keys are also attached) still inserted in the unlocked-door key slot. I tend to make the mistake when I come home extremely exhausted, but I understand why it drives my mom just as extremely crazy.
Do you prefer cold or warm weather?  Cold, are you kidding? I can think of a few things worse than having your house feel like an oven and sweating in your own home.
The last advertisement you saw: What was it advertising?  It was a Chinese ad so I had no idea what it was even selling. It looked like an online platform of some sort but as to what it offers...no clue.
Do you prefer bar or liquid soap?  Liquid. Bar is fine too but I just don't like how it's so slippery.
Do you wear any perfumes / colognes on a regular basis?  No.
Do you have high or low self esteem levels?  It depends on what aspect we're talking about. I have high self-esteem when it comes to how confident I feel about myself; but being 25 also currently propels me to be in a quarter-life crisis and feel a little lost and down about my current direction in life.
When was the last time you listened to a song on repeat? What was the song?  The Astronaut, because my mom is currently obsessed with it and asks me to play it on repeat in the car. I have absolutely no complaints lol.
How do you feel about being in the house alone?  I like it, but given I'm very chatty around my sister it can feel lonesome sometimes. I dread the day she moves out, if she does end up doing it earlier than I do :(
What was the last compliment you received?  I can't even remember. The closest thing I can think of is a moment last night when an an aunt told me it was her first time seeing me all dolled up and girly, but tbh I don't really count it as a compliment because it could have implied many other things.
Do you like mint or orange flavored chocolate?  I love different spins on chocolate. I never look for them per se, but I'm also willing to try them when I get the chance.
How often do you get spots? Like, pimples?  Usually a day or two after I let my face cuddle with my dogs', hahaha.
Do you believe that when your ears burn someone is talking about you?  No.
Are you a good host when visitors come over or do you wish they’d leave? I like to think I'm a good host. The few times I've had guests over, I wanted to make sure the receiving area is all dressed up and that they don't run out of food to choose from. It's difficult to get to my place as it is so I want their visits to be as worth it as possible.
When was the last time you burnt your mouth from eating something too hot? I've never, like, injured my tongue or whatever but the other night I took a bite of lasagna just like 30 seconds after taking it out of the microwave and I promptly spat it back out.
What is your favorite foreign language to listen to? (In music or speech)  French.
Do you prefer instrumental songs or ones with lyrics?  Lyrics for the most part; but there are also some instrumentals that I enjoy listening to, especially when they're part of a movie or video game score.
Name something simple that makes you happy.  Sunday morning drives. Traffic is nonexistent, you hit all the green lights, and it's just such a vibe to drive when the sun has just risen.
What is your favorite instrument to listen to?  Saxophone, piano, and violin.
Pick one: Books, movies or music?  Music.
Do you carry a bag around with you often? What does it look like? I need to have a bag with me since I'm always carrying a bunch of stuff. My main bag is a brown handbag with a million pockets; I have a secondary handbag which is purple and white; but in cases where I can carry light, I have a white belt bag that I like to wear over my shoulder.
Do you like your natural hair color?  Sure.
Do you delete your emails / texts often?  I don't go on deleting sprees for either of those, but I do for photos and videos.
What was the last book you read about?  It chronicles the different stages of the life of a woman living in South Korea and how the evolving forms of sexism and misogyny she faced in her society eventually drove her to severe mental illness. I'll gatekeep the frustrating ending for now, but for anyone interested in this synopsis the book is called Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982.
What color are the walls in the room you’re in?  White.
Did you dress up last Halloween? As what? Nope.
Do you have any old friends who you still kinda speak to but it’s awkward?  Not really, no.
Name one of your favorite memories.  Traveling to Thailand.
Are you a polite person?  Yup, but I can also have a short fuse.
When was the last time you used a quote from a movie in real life? I never quote movies.
Have you ever used a chat-up line that actually worked?  I don't think so.
Can you put your legs behind your head? I used to do it as a kid, probably still can but with a bit more difficulty if I had to guess.
Do you forget things easily? No, I have a sharp memory. The only time I have memory slip-ups is at work, but that's also because I'm no longer passionate about it.
The last song you listened to: Did it have a male or female vocalist?  Male.
Is the heating on in your house currently?  That's not a thing here.
Do you often find toothpaste too minty?  No.
Have you ever had braces? Do you need them?  I currently have them.
Are you a subscriber to any magazines? Which?  Nope.
What does your voice sound like? (Loud, quiet, high pitched, etc)  Deep and firm, but it can turn high-pitched and soft when I'm interested in the conversation.

at the tate gift shop they had a section where they were selling reproductions of vintage exhibition posters and i found a rauschenberg one but it wasn't on their website and the cashier was confused by it (he ended up charging me £17) and from what i can tell by searching for it online it might actually be valuable...? as in, i don't think they actually made reproductions of it except to advertise the original show back in 1982 and i can only find copies being sold at auction for hundreds of dollars? i'm so confused.....idc in the end but i guess i wish i knew that before i bent it to fit in my handbag on the plane lmfao

I’m selling some of my old designer pieces and the AUDACITY some people have. Jacquemus bag, used once for a wedding, RRP £500+, this dumb fuck offers…..£65! £65!!!! It’s on for an incredibly fair price at £350 and they offer £65?!
THEN insult me, the bag and the fact I said no by telling me I’m out of order for not selling it to them for £65! So I block and report but then go on to their own page where, what I found can only be described as an abomination. Random shit from sweatshops and dodgy market stalls for £45!! Most of it doesn’t look remotely real and what I would call “Turkey specials” (aka fakes)
Then as if it doesn’t get worse she has the sheer gall to be listing a pair of what I can only describe as “trash worthy” (they’re so damaged and wrecked) Dolce & Gabbana (like, love, they were cancelled years ago…they’re vile people) heels for £199.99!!!! The only place these shoes should be going is in the bin. They’ve been thoroughly worn and trashed. The leather (if it’s even leather) has come away from the heel, the soles are completely filthy and should have been replaced, you can see the toe marks heavily ingrained into the bed of the shoe as they’ve clearly been worn to death.
One of the reasons she claimed by Jacquemus bag was only worth £65 was because it’s 5 years old and literally said “it’s pre-pandemic” (wtf does covid-19 have to do with a handbag in the first place????) Like, honey, babes, these manky D&G heels can’t even be found online they’re THAT old, they have zero authenticity, no dust bag (which all designer shoes come with dust bags), no receipts, no nothing and are TRASHED and you’re still trying to sell them for £200 in the same breath as you claim that my bag which has been worn once, pristine, comes with dust bag, box and tags, bought from Selfridges on Oxford Street with a receipt to prove it, kept on a shelf in my closet out of sunlight etc. is worth £65?! HAVE A DAY OFF!

She also likes to read classical books and avoiding socialising
