STARDEW VALLEY ELLIOT MERMAID THEORY
1. First Appearance
As it’s already known, Elliot lives in a little cabin on the beach and has long hair (unlike any of the other male villagers), which are common when it comes to writing a lot of mermaids type of characters.
In a lot of movies when it comes to creating mermaids / mermans, they always tend to have them written with long colorful hair just as Elliot has.
2. His Schedule
Whenever it rains, in Elliot’s schedule — unless it was changed in the recent Stardew update, he never really goes out and instead stays inside his cabin. Almost like he avoids getting wet.
So, perhaps if he ever did really go out during the rain, would some of his mermaid features (scales) be revealed if he ever did get wet?
3. His Connection
The closer you get to Elliot in relationship, the more open he is with you about himself. And when he does talk about himself, along with his childhood, he mentions his connection to the sea quite a lot.
Even reminiscing about his past, mentioning to you about how the sea reminds him so much of his youth, and impressed him a lot as a child.
Really, that could mean he just simply is so passionate about the sea itself and really cares for it, but with the amount of other information I’ve gotten from him — I really do think he could be a mermaid, who is giving it a shot at having a human life.
It’s not entirely impossible either, as during the Night Market, you could see an actual mermaid performing inside of the Mermaid Boat. And there are many more other mythical “creatures” in Stardew Valley like Krobus, Grandpa ( as a ghost ), Dwarf, etc.
Also, his liked / loved gifts are mostly things that are related to the sea and beach itself. Like lobster, shells, squid, crab cakes, etc etc. Except for sea cucumber.
4. Conclusion
A lot of my reasonings could be minor inconveniences / coincidences, but when it comes to the villagers, every single one of them almost has a backstory except for Elliot.
Like, we barely know much about him / his past besides the fact he enjoys the sea as company and really likes to write.
I don’t think in really any of his dialogue that he talks about his relationship with Leah, which I find a bit odd, since you would want to know who he’s close with amongst the villagers and he just never talks about it. Unless they are just simple drinking buddies who enjoy to dance with each other at the flower dance?
Is he friends with anyone besides Leah, or is he some sort of outcast for some reason? Does he feel like he’s too different from most of the other villagers and just never made the time to connect with any of them? How did he end up in Pelican Town?
Genuinely, I wanna know more about this man.

Odd Theory
Does anyone else think Elliott can see the Junimos? Yes, this is entirely from the piano Easter Egg. I don't know, it feels like someone special introduced him to that song and that's how he knows it. I think this could also mean he's met Grandpa as the notes we play are a part of Grandpa's theme but I like the theory that it's the Junimos more.
Maybe he met them as a child, helped one out, and with a generally good thing happening to him they also introduced him to that little jingle. He was told that they were just a part of his active imagination and he forgot about them over the years. Years later, he moved into Pelican Town where he noticed something strange happening in the old dilapidated community center but since it's always locked, he couldn't explore any further. Then the new farmer comes in and starts communicating with them and Elliott gets an odd familiar feeling as things in the town begin to magically repair themselves.
Now I'm starting to like the idea of a little Junimo buddy staying back on Earth with the farmer if they specifically chose to marry Elliott as he's the only bachelor who could also see them. That sounds adorable.

I’m sitting here, thinking about possible ships in Stardew Valley that don’t involve the farmer. I’ve seen quite a few. Of course there’s the canon stuff, aka the married couples and Marnie with Lewis. It’s also canon that Alex says he’s jealous if you get with Haley. Ignoring Clint and Emily because I’m sorry but that’s literally “nice guy creepy incel” getting the girl.
But! I don’t like most of the married couples AND I don’t like Marnie with Lewis. So I’m gonna go on a little exploration here.
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot of Caroline and the Wizard. First of all I absolutely think that Abigail is the Wizard’s kid, but I also don’t think those two actually… like each other? I think it was more of a fling than anything. But low key? Part of me thinks the Wizard and Lewis could be kinda fun, I’ve also seen art of the Razzy with Marlon. Which would be fun! But I do think it’s really cute when Marlon says that Marnie is really pretty. It’s just precious to me.
But BUT, crazy thought
Willy and Razzy mic Dazzle???? HEAR ME OUT HEAR ME OUT
Willy is a traveler! He fishes all over the place!!! He’s gotta have experience with sea monsters and weird magics, and imagine the Wizard requests some specific sea based spells or works with him to help find merpeople OR ensures the seas and skies are calm so that he can sail safely. DO YOU SEE MY VISION???
Cough, so— I’m thinking Willy with Razzmocious and Marnie breaking up with Lewis and Marlon slowly winning her over himself. Caroline though? Honestly don’t think she’s the happiest with Pierre, he’s pretty shit. Low key I like her with Jodi haha. Like Kent isn’t bad, not at all, I just don’t think Jodi loves him. But Caroline and Jodi feel a bit too obvious, so… hear me out… Caroline and Gunther. She regularly visits the library so— gah yeah that’s stupid. Caroline deserves someone who will just cuddle with her and Jodi needs someone who makes her feel alive again. They’ve got different needs. Kent also needs a lot of love and therapy, which I don’t think Jodi can provide. Ok, I’m gonna move on to an easier one I’m dying here.
Sam and Sebastian are so obvious, going insane here. 100% ship them. I’ve seen some people throw Abigail into the mix, but personally I’m not the biggest fan of that. Honestly? I’m kinda into Abigail and Haley—
OK LISTEENNNNN, listen. Abigail’s 14 heart scene… imagine if Haley was there instead of the farmer. It just fits so perfectly. Pretty girlfriend loving buff girlfriend. I THINK ITS CUTE OK LEAVE ME ALONE SOB SOB SOB
Speaking of the girls, I like Maru and Penny together a lot. I just see them around town together all the time and I think it’s super cute haha. Ah shoot, that reminds me of Robin. I do not like Demetrius, personally. Though I suppose there marriage seems to work. I wouldn’t break them apart.
Ok, now on to my hotter tea. Harvey and Shane. Harvey is just so sweet and so loving and so nice and caring and Shane has no experience with that and Harvey gets Shane access to a therapist dhkfhwkd— I think it’s cute. I think it would be really cute if they started hanging out and Shane realized how poorly Harvey ate and started scolding him like “You’re always scolding me but you eat like this?” And just keeps going as he cooks them both a meal and gruffly sets it out for Harvey and—
Sobbing
Ok my other somewhat hot take, Elliott and Alex. The reasoning here might be iffy, but I like the idea of Alex getting with a guy who broadens his range of what masculinity means. I think it would also be cute if Alex slowly gained a love for reading through Elliott. Plus I think Alex could be a magnificent muse given his past. It could be cute.
Oh and my final take is Morris and Pierre should hatefuck
ANYWAYS
But yeah, I don’t necessarily ship all these. Like, actively and actually ship them. I might one day, but right now I’m just sitting in my thought stew.

What if Sebastian's dad was a stone mason? It would explain how Robin knows how to work with stone as well as wood, because let's face it, those are two different disciplines and she prides herself as a carpenter. It would explain why they live so close to the mines (the resources). It would explain the stone-based recipes she just has. It would explain a lot of little things.
Plus it opens up theories about what happened to him. Mining accident like George? Slain by monsters? Is that why Sebastian goes into the mines when he can't sleep—because that's where he can feel close to the only family he feels connected to?

Farmer: That's it? One thing doesn't go your way and your solution is to give up?
Shane: I'm not giving up!
Shane: But, on an unrelated note, i'm never leaving my bed again.

Memory in Stardew Valley is kinda fucked
So, memory in Stardew Valley is almost like a tangible thing, and I wanna talk about it. I mean technically speaking, you can sell it, trade it, swap it, bop it, twist it and so on and so forth. Why do I wanna talk about it? Because I have no social life and the only thing I can feel is the rage of my ancestors as I harvest yet another batch of ancient fruit wine.
Most people know about the Dark Shrine of Memory, the fun statue that wipes your ex's memories for a quick buck. Now that's pretty neat and all, but I think this leads to further interpretation I'm sure Concerned Ape wouldn't think is relevant but I'm gonna push it.
Someone had to put that statue there. I don't think it's the witch, because she has to shell up 30 big ones every time another thirsty wizard comes along. Also, Rasmodius still has his memories of them, and if I were her I wouldn't want a guy like Razzle-Dazzle thinking about her. And it's probably vice-versa, as the witch still curses the town from time to time to spite the purple-haired goblin.
Mr Qi would be a reasonable guess, especially since you have to pay to use it, and he is known to have several marketing schemes around the place, but this one doesn't feel like him. I think there's another powerful creature out and about, they've stumbled across a way to erase memories and are using it for profit. The witch is just a tool behind the mastermind.
On top of the memory shrine, the Dark Shrine of Selfishness also contains a portion of memory magic. No one remembers the children that disappeared. No one except the farmer. Perhaps some immunity comes with being a fallen god, or perhaps it's simply because they're the ones that paid, so they are cursed to forever remember their sin. Either way, considering the fact that two of the statues directly erase memories, there's something interesting going on.
Another aspect of memories that people don't often think about is resetting days. Now this does reach a fair bit into undertale, but I think it applies pretty well here too. Days can loop over and over again, and no one will remember any of them, except for the Farmer. With the knowledge and foresight of what's happening, the Farmer can escape danger and the villagers know no better. There is perhaps only two other people in Stardew who might have an idea of what's going on. The Witch, and Mr Qi.
The witch is obvious, she has the shrines in her house, but from Mr Qi's dialogue, we can gleam an idea of what he may know.
I got to where I am through the force of pure willpower, kid. You see... The mind is a very powerful tool. In fact, it's the most powerful tool in all of reality... and beyond
“Some things transcend time and space, kid. It's a unique feeling in the heart... a whisper of things beyond.”
Now it could be pretty easy to interpret this a hundred different ways, but I want to link it to memory right now. The specific wording states that Mr Qi might be aware of resetting save files and that memories can be erased. I don't think he can alter other people's memories (though we don't know enough about him to be sure), but he may have found a way to keep his own memories safe.
Perhaps it's even how he found the Farmer. One day, he wakes up again, and he knows it's the same day. This happens sometimes, and he's forced to live the same day twice, three times or even more sometimes. He seeks out the source of the issue and stumbles across the farmer. On the surface, they seem like a regular person, until one day, the day resets again and the Farmer acts like they've done it a thousand times, taking every right move in the mines and getting everything they failed to do in the last attempt.
I think Mr Qi would want to keep an eye on someone like that.
From all of this, I have come to a conclusion. The statues present the idea of memory, but they also show that memory magic can be used to accomplish very specific tasks. We've only seen a few examples, but it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say that memory could be distorted a thousand different ways in Stardew. Perhaps none of the memories you have of your neighbour are real, and they never existed before yesterday. Or your parents actually died when you were three and you were raised by the spirits of hell. You actually have the memories of your best friend who died last week. Who knows?
Nothing is real, reality is an illusion.

Theories I think Shane would pass/fail
Orange peel theory
- “Hey, love, can you peel this orange for me?” you said handing him the orange.
- Shane looked at the orange and then looked at you “Uh, sure give me it.”
- Shane peeled the orange with his hands. He stole a few glances at you, happy that you wanted his help.
(I think he would definitely pass the orange theory. Also, I saw how some couples cut the orange or put it on a plate. I don’t think Shane will do that I feel like he will just give it to you peeled.)
· · ───────── ·𖥸· ───────── · ·
Sidewalk theory
- Shane would not know what the sidewalk theory is.
- You guys went on a trip to the city. Shane just walks on whichever side it doesn't matter to him.
- When you tell him about the theory he'll start doing it all the time.
(The main reason I feel like he wouldn’t know the sidewalk theory is because the town doesn’t really have a street for cars. They all mostly walk.)
· · ───────── ·𖥸· ───────── · ·
Flower theory
- Shane had brought you flowers for your birthday. You loved them but you knew they wouldn’t last long. You always forgot to water them.
- For the first 5 days you stay on task and watered them. Shane had put them in an old vase you had.
- After the 9th day you forgot to water the flowers but to your surprise, they still looked pretty healthy.
- On the 15th day that's when you realize you haven't watered them for so long. Yet they still looked good. They wilted a bit but not much.
(This theory would 100% pass. Shane has a lot of love for the farmer especially if you have been there for him emotionally and physically.)
· · ───────── ·𖥸· ───────── · ·
Bird theory
- You were at the dance with Shane. While you were waiting for everyone to get ready you saw a bird in a sky.
- You covered your face to look up and pointed “Shane look at that bird.”
- He quickly turned around. “Where?” he says looking around and then looking up.
- “You missed it.” You said. “Oh, what did it look like then?” he asked you.
(Shane would pass this theory because he already likes birds. I mean he takes care of chickens and I also think he would just love any reason to talk to you.)

Various Reasons I think V is Alive
I AM RIGHT I KNOW IT
Tumblr media
she gets flashed right in the face while looking at the Sentinel and doesn't get boot looped. She cannot see well enough without her glasses for it to affect her.
Tumblr media
She is an extremely skilled fighter and able to move at the drop of a hat, even catching a bullet in midair. She has plenty of time to escape the sentinels before they can even bite her.
Tumblr media
dead sentinel in the trailer and no sign of the red one. Not even the tip of V's tail is in sight. I know this is the EPISODE 7 trailer, but it still gives us some insight.
also, only the blue ones seem to leap at her just yet. It's possible the red sentinel's new orders might've influenced it to do something further.
this last bit of evidence is me saying "PLEEEAAAAASEE" so it's not really serious or valid evidence but this wire break and the glitch looks like JK to me lmao
