Hey guys, just a PSA to not use BloodFeather's products. Their dye can really mess your wings up since they're loaded with unnatural and unsafe chemicals. Im suprised ppl r still buying this stuff when theres way better alternatives (TRUEFLYGHT, StuffOfDreams, etc.)

oh i know this one!!! immediately get into a hot bath with all your good products (like soap, softner, whatev) and soak wings for about 5 minutes till the color starts coming off. rinse and repeat till it's all gone!! though, in more severe cases, you might have to get it treated at the doctors (lets hope this isn't the case)

Burned Bridges
Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo’s relationship has been incredibly strained since the rainbow infection began to spread, but no pony understands why.
Rainbow Dash tapped lightly on the door with her hoof. No pony answered, but she let herself in anyways. A tray of food balanced on one of her wings, and she had to maneuver awkwardly through the door to keep it from spilling. She squinted through the darkness; all the curtains in the room had been drawn, and only the faint sunlight that managed to slip between the cracks of the fabric illuminated the room. A small orange shape was hunched in one of the shadowed corners, and it shrunk further when open door let more light in.
“Hey, Scoot,” Rainbow called softly. “Can I come in?”
“No,” Scootaloo growled. “Leave me alone.”
Rainbow frowned and took another step inside, shutting the door behind her. She carefully slid the tray off her wing onto the table by the bed, then crossed to the other side of the room and pulled the curtains open. Scootaloo groaned as her fur was washed with sunlight, and she huddled further into herself.
“I brought you some food,” Rainbow said, standing over the little heap of feathers and fur.
“I’m not hungry,” Scootaloo snapped. She flattened her ears with her hooves and screwed her violet eyes tightly shut, rejecting Rainbow Dash’s presence with all of her being.
“Pinkie said you haven’t been taking your share of the rations,” Rainbow continued, ignoring the obvious hostility radiating off of the little pony. “You’re worrying everyone, Scoot. You have to eat.”
Scootaloo didn’t respond. Her tail thumped against the floor as if it were trying to shoo an annoying fly.
A tense silence followed as Rainbow fumbled for the next thing to say, and Scootaloo tried to pretend she wasn’t there.
Rainbow scoffed, her ruffled feathers making her wings twitch in agitation.
“You know, you can’t treat me like this forever,” she said with a glare. “You don’t have the right to try and guilt trip me. I saved you, Scootaloo!”
Finally earning a reaction, Scootaloo’s head whipped around, her eyes wide and glittering with resentment as she scowled at her former hero.
“Are you serious?” she snarled. “Have you gone insane? How selfish can you possibly be?”
“That’s not fair, I-“
“Saved? You call this being saved?” She tore on without letting Rainbow Dash get a word in, the anger bubbling inside of her rousing her to her hooves. “Cloudsdale has been abandoned. Pegasi are dying. I don’t know where my parents or my aunts are, or if they’re even still alive. Equestria is falling apart around us, and it’s all because you were such a coward!”
Rainbow’s wings shot open in indignation. She was taken aback by Scootaloo’s ferocity, but the fillies anger had only sparked Rainbow’s own. She thrust her muzzles into Scootaloo’s face, her teeth bared.
“You can’t pin all of this on me!” She spat. “You can’t fly, Scootaloo, the Rainbow Factory was going to take you one day no matter what. If I hadn’t been there, you would be dead.”
“I wish I was dead!” Scootaloo screamed, her voice catching in her throat as she choked out a dry sob. Tears brimmed in her eyes but she forced them back, her legs trembling as she struggled to hold her ground. “I would die a thousand times over if it would stop the infection from ever happening! I would do anything if it meant saving everyone. The fact that you don’t understand that means you really aren’t the pony I thought you were.”
Rainbow’s anger faltered, and a familiar look of regret and guilt darkened her expression.
“I didn’t know this would happen,” she murmured. “I only wanted to protect you. I never would’ve thought that…”
“If you wanted to protect me, you should’ve done something about the factory when you had a chance,” Scootaloo glared at her unsympathetically. “You could’ve told ponies. You could’ve revealed the truth and made a difference. You could’ve saved so many pegasi, but you only ever cared about yourself. Now look. We’re doomed.”
Rainbow’s head hung with shame. A long, sorrowful sigh escaped her, and she forced herself to straighten back up.
“I can’t change the past,” she resigned. “We just have to hope that Twilight can find a cure to save whoever is left.”
Scootaloo stared at her. She sat down heavily, as if her legs had lost the will to support her, and shook her head dejectedly.
“I can’t do this,” she whispered, speaking more to herself than Rainbow. “I can’t do this…. I can’t do this… get out.”
“Scoot-“
“GET OUT!” Scootaloo shrieked, shaking her head more violently and stomping her front hooves. “GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT!”
Rainbow stared at her in dismay, her mouth opening and closing as she grasped for something to say, but Scootaloo bellowed on and on without even pausing to breathe.
Rapid hoof-steps closed in from the other side of the door. With a thundering bang it flew open and slammed into the wall, Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom standing in the doorway with terrified expressions.
“What in Celestia is happening?” Apple Bloom demanded.
Rainbow looked over her shoulder at them, her eyes wide with shock, but Scootaloo continued to scream as if she didn’t realize anyone had arrived.
Belle and Bloom raced over to their friend and threw themselves in between her and Rainbow, forcing the older Pegasus to take a few paces back.
“You need to leave, Rainbow Dash,” Sweetie Belle said firmly, meeting Rainbow’s eyes with a venomous glare.
“I-I-I was just-“
“You need to leave, now,” Apple Bloom reiterated, taking a step forward and forcing Rainbow further back.
She swallowed thickly and looked past them at Scootaloo. Her screaming had dwindled into a silent, breathless sob, and her entire body trembled like a leaf as she hid her face with her hooves once again.
“Okay,” Rainbow agreed, her voice tight as she backed out of the room. She paused in the hallway for a second, tears welling in her eyes. “I’m sorry, Scootaloo,” she said as Apple Bloom slammed the door in her face.

Scootaloo for Most Orangest
Hello, I am Roman Artificialkidspoll and today I'm going to tell YOU why you should be voting for Scootaloo for most orangest in the @orangecharactersmackdown.
First of all, look at her:
Tumblr media
Look how orange she is! And it's such a nice shade of orange too! Like obviously you can't go wrong with any shade of orange but I'm very partial to that particular range of oranges, the ones that are REALLY orange, like this is a PURE shade of orange.
But on top of that, she also has purple mane and tail. Purple and orange go SO well together, like Loxley and Bagel. You can't miss!
Another reason you should vote for her is because she has a cool scooter that she uses to do sick tricks and stunts.
Like so!
Tumblr media
Continued under the cut cause this got uh. Long.
In fact, someone was kind enough to make a whole compilation!
youtube
Also, she likes Rainbow Dash SO much, and Rainbow Dash likes her too! From her introduction onward she was always Rainbow Dash's biggest fan, but over the course of the series Rainbow Dash came to really like her SO much in return, even going so far as to become SCOOTALOO'S biggest fan (apart from me, of course). She even agreed to take Scoot under her wing and be her big sister figure, because she thinks Scootaloo is neat! (See below)
youtube
And she takes her role SERIOUSLY because she loves Scootaloo and wants her to be happy and awesome (you should want this too, and express it by voting for her)
youtube
Here are some other facts about Scootaloo:
She lives in Ponyville with her lesbian aunts because her parents are adventurers and always off on adventures. At one point she gets the chance to go back to living in Cloud City with them but decides to stay in Ponyville because that's where her loved ones all are!
She's disabled (see above video). This was actually pretty clear from early on but they actually CANONIZED it in a later season, at which point I promptly lost my mind because I didn't think they'd ever say it out loud. Her wings are too small to support her in flight, but she's able to adapt to it with the support of her friends and family, because she's AWESOME. See: sick tricks and stunts.
She and the other Cutie Mark Crusaders got their cutie marks in season five, and not only did their cutie marks mark out their special talents and purpose, they also marked them as BEST FRIENDS. Imagine best friending so hard that your MARK OF DESTINY decides that being best friends is your destiny.
Oh look here's her cutie mark
Tumblr media
She has her, Sweetie Belle's, and Apple Bloom's mane and tail colors as the stripes. You WISH you were as cool and bound with your friends as she is.
Here she is as flower girl in the royal wedding. Ignore how grumpy the bride looks, she's actually an evil changeling queen disguised as Princess Cadance. The real Cadance is much nicer.
Tumblr media
Here's another one where she's wearing a pretty dress. Note that she is once again complementing her lovely orange with purple!
Tumblr media
Here she is as a Merpony!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh my god she's so cute I'm going to die
Here's her experiencing magically induced teenagerhood (and also having an even cooler mane style)
Tumblr media
Here she is all grown up teaching school!
Tumblr media
Even as a grown up she's superbly orange uwu
Here's her aunts. See how much they love her? ;A;
Tumblr media
And her parents~! Wait, who did she get that lovely orange coat from? 🤔
Tumblr media
Here's a sad Scootaloo. She's sad because she has to leave Ponyville, but this is also how she'll look if she doesn't win most orangest.
Tumblr media
Don't do that to her, what's wrong with you?
WAIT OH MY GOD SHE GETS TO BE A SUPERHERO IN ONE OF THE COMICS OH MY GOD
LOOK AT MY BABY SHE'S DOING SO WELL
Tumblr media
Anyway in conclusion you should vote for Scootaloo for most orangest because she is CLEARLY the best and cutest and most orangest candidate.
I'll close this out with a MLP fansong about Scootaloo

Chapter 1 - Settling
The country smells odd. The lack of city smog is the first thing you notice. The small village of Ponyville had the smell of dirt and sugar in the wind. The next thing you notice is how silent the countryside is. The station was a lot quieter than the one back in Manehattan. No hustle and bustle of the city and the railyard of the big station. The station had one track next to one platform, with a singular line for goods traffic. The last thing I noticed was the lack of a crowd. The station had a ticket master, a porter, and five other passengers boarding and unboarding; that was it.
Lila and I stepped off the train, the porter unloading our bags. With four suitcases between us, we then realized how fun this would be. Lila carried both of hers in her magic while opting to pull them under my wings. She would need her magic to help with Fluttershy and the animals.
“We should probably find our rental; are we talking studio or multi-room?” I asked, struggling with the luggage wheels on dirt roads. Some citizens of my new home looked concerned, but I kept a brave face.
“Father said it was basically four rooms. A room for each of us, a general room, and a rest—Page duck!” she shouted, however, a little too late.
I felt an object, and a pony hit me in the side, sending me to the side of the road. Lucky for me, they hit my suitcase and not my body directly. It still hurt like hell, however, and my wing was the only casualty.
“Scootaloo, you just hit a lady!” A little girl with a squeaky voice said.
"Ma'am, are you okay!?” A southern child said above me: My face being in the dirt meant I did not see the source of the voice.
I of course articulated a perfectly rational and reasonable response: “Where's the leak, ma'am...?” Perfectly irrational because of the pain.
I heard a larger set of hooves walk over and say, "Ma'am, are you alright? I'm a might sorry, my sister and her buddies gotta ya’.
Before I could respond, I felt magic pull me up. Lila’s magical pull was familiar and welcomed. As I got reoriented with the world around me, I saw four figures. Three of them were fillies no older than thirteen each. One little girl had a white coat with a light purple two-tone mane that's curled slightly at the ends; another was yellow with a red poofy mane and a bow larger than any archery bow in her hair. The last little girl caught my attention due to her undersized wings for her age. I think it’s rude to stare, but as a fellow pegasus, the orange and purple filly was disconcerting. The idea of lacking flight was such an abstract thought for me that I sometimes forget Lila could not fly. I mean, call me stupid, but if you have something your entire life to the point of second nature, you forget it when others don’t have it. I guess an inverse example would be eyes. I wear very thick glasses due to my eyes not developing right, but to me the blur is normal, and I don’t fully understand how bad my eyes are, as they are all I know.
Recentering my thoughts, I turned to look at the adult mare, with an orange freckled coat; she was maybe twenty-ish years my senior with a blonde mane. Her green eyes were warm and concerned, as was her face. Her soft look of worry for my safety was contrasted by her muscle to rival the gym bucks of Manehattan. Her hoof was over her chest, with her stetson hat between them.
Now, with the magic fading and my hooves on the ground, I smiled apologetically.
“Yes, ma’am. I am fine; I am so sorry for not paying attention to my surroundings,” I said, breaking my momentary eye contact by looking over my hooves. Out of my peripheral, I saw Lila looking at me, also concerned; I just fell. I am not going to die; these ponies are worry warts.
“Ma’am, pardon me saying so,” she said in a polite yet firm tone. “I believe my sister and her friends owe you the apology; those speeds in this town was a very irresponsible move.”
I was now growing increasingly uncomfortable. Just let me take responsibility and move on; it is not a big deal. “Ma’am, I am fine; no one got hurt. Let’s just let it be.”
She looked at me for a second before her expression changed to an almost forced positive expression. The three girls had already long gone to hide from the tongue-lashing they might have received.
“Pardon my manners; my name is Applejack.” She said, reaching a hoof for a shake with us both, her positive expression being less forced.
I shook Applejack’s hoof first, saying, “My name is Page Turner; this is my friend Lila, blossom.” My friend in question was now levitating my bags as well as her own, damn. Lila did not say hello or shake the hoof; she just waved with a temporary small smile, the average Lila response.
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you folks.” She said, then paused, looking at Lila, “You would not happen to be the Lila studying under one Miss Fluttershy, would ya’?”
Lila and I looked at each other in bewilderment, then back at Applejack, “Yes, I am; do you know her?” Lila asked while I eyed how to get my luggage from her magic.
“Flutters and I are old friends; shoot, she is ranting and raving about having a student finally,” Applejack said with a smile. “What about you, Ms. Turner?” Why was she asking me? Lila was the one with a good reason: "Work, ma’am.” A cookie-cutter response—not untrue, but not the whole truth.
“What kind of work? With the harvest coming up, my farm could be a choice, given you are up and dandy,” Applejack said, making me nervous. It's an offer I can't really pass up but wish I could. Jobs don’t grow on trees, though. Well, maybe hers does. I was just hoping to breathe before I needed my first ever job.
“Once we get settled, I will give you a visit,” I said without planning on it. “I appreciate the offer.”
She looked at me like she knew I was full of cat shit. “I hope you do, ma'am.” Her expression became more pleasant again. "Well, I’ll see you fillies around; take care!
Applejack wandered off after we said our byes and continued walking as I said to Lila, “Odd lady,” and got a hum from Lila in agreement.
“Maybe I should get the farm job,” I pondered further as we strolled.
Lila spoke up from behind me in a concerned tone, “Are you sure that is such a good idea? Hicks are not usually the most accepting type, and you cannot wear the dress in the field.”
I sighed, hating the reminder that people now hate me for existing in the life I live. “It’s worth a shot; besides, isn't that one really trans-inclusive clothing brand from here? I can buy some work clothes from my savings; I’ll need to either way most likely,” I said, proud of myself for being logical.
“Just please be safe,” Lila said earnestly.
I did not respond but did nod, rolling my eyes subtly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We arrived at our new very small house; it was near the Everfree Forest, chilling but cheap. It makes me wonder if the realtor told Lila’s parents about its proximity to the forest, and if they did know, would they really rent a house this close to the Everfree?
Currently, Lila and I have separated to hang out in our own rooms and get settled; however, she left an hour ago to meet with Fluttershy. So that left me alone in my room, setting up my typewriter and my mirror.
Aside from my bed and dresser, I had three things of note in my room. The first was a desk with my older, reliable typewriter; it was a dusty old hunk of iron, but I loved her. The second was a model train on my desk; it was one named Lode Star, and I absolutely adored it. Lastly, there was a large mirror where I talked to myself to get writing ideas. However, when I say talk to myself, I mean I pretend to talk to the protagonist of my novel, Fresh Take.
Fresh Take is an orange pegasus with orange hair in a messy bob cut. She was tall and thin, with commanding eyes and a confident look on her face. She had the fur pattern on her legs, which most people refer to as socks; however, hers were brown on the ends of her hooves. I know all this for two reasons, one being that I made her. She is a figment of my mind.
The second reason was a bit more dubious. I shall put it like this: as I looked in the mirror, I saw her staring at me from over my shoulder. Her purple eyes looked right into my orange ones. I started seeing her after I created the concept for her story, A Fresh Take on Life. After that, I started to talk to her, and this game of pretending that she was here was comforting. She talked me through things; she is the reason I moved to Ponyville. Talking to this figment of my mind was good for me; it helped me think.
“How are you doing, my dear?” She said to me in her posh pseudo-Canterlot nobility accent, “The move has been interesting so far.” Her voice was soothing and caring.
"Well, aside from the assault of preteens and their overly polite hick sisters, I am doing the same as always.” I felt just numb to the change.
"Why, my dear, aren't you glad to be away from that terrible place? The only thing everyone saw was you with pity-framed, rose-tinted glasses. That is no way to live. Here, you start with a Fresh Take. Let’s not waste it, sweetie.” She said, wrapping her own wing around me in a brief hug, that she was right. Most ponies back home saw me through the lens of pity or as something to keep around so she ‘doesn’t have another episode.’ It is frustrating because once you show even a bit of weakness, ponies see you so differently. They pretend like it is not there or hide it away. However, the stain is always on the mask.
“You are right as always, Freshie. Maybe I should send mom a postcard, though.” I said, but was cut off by Fresh. “And worry your mother like that; a poor woman needs to just forget you. You have already caused her enough pain; let's not forget the reason you needed to move.”
I was quiet and placed a hoof on my neck at the mention of that. After a moment, I said, ‘I was in a bad place then, but I left, so I left it behind. Nothing would go around my neck again; I left that behind me.”
Fresh smiled a warm smile. “Good; reinforcement is good for habits. Speaking of, I shall plan our route in case this turns sour. It would not hurt to be prepared. Now why don’t you rest?”
At that, I started to feel a wave of exhaustion. I was pretty tired. With that, I rolled over and decided to catch some sleep. Knowing I was in good company, I was taken care of.

top 5 or 10 mlp characters your choice
i'll top 5 since im tired
1. princess cadance - sidenote i prided myself as a child about being able to spell her name right? merchandise would spell it wrong and i thought i was sooo cool. okay anyway i think she's so lovely, her episodes are the best and i think a canterlot wedding is one of the best 2 parters Ever. they outdid themselves there, plus i believe the first mlp thing i ever saw was when it was airing (this and winter wrap up i definitely saw when they aired, but then i went and started from the beginning on netflix i think. fuzzy memory) she's lovecore and sooo sweet and she has the prettiest voice and i love her design..her purple gradient wings are Everything. sunshine sunshine ladybugs awake <333
2. applejack - i love big sibling characters this is very obvious anyway OUGH i love her element, i think it was characterized really well and she's so caring. apple family episodes make me nostalgic and i REALLY love her rivalry with rainbow dash. i dont think they tokenized her honesty i think it was natural and fun and also shes so pretty Love her design. thank you ashleigh ball for your genius
3. the CMC - putting them all because i genuinely cant pick one on her own if that makes sense. i love sweetie belle and think she's really relatable, for whom the sweetie belle toils is one of the Best mlp episodes ever and i stand by it. her learning that not knowing the full story can lead to dangerous assumptions and impulsive behavior is uh. yeah. <3 also her singing is soooo beautiful michelle creber i looove you. theyre all relatable actually, scootaloo oughfh i know exactly what it's like not being able to do something because of being disabled and god. flight to the finish is a heartbreaking episode because she's just pushing herself nonstop to try and achieve something she'll never be able to. and her relationship with rainbow dash also means everything to me, DUDE. "i'm so proud of you little buddy" in we'll make our mark is one of the lines that makes me Cry. the cmc getting their cutie marks DID make me cry and continues to. I LOVE APPLE BLOOM i used to voice her in my little voice acting friend group when i was 13! she's still fun to do a voice for, once again i adore michelle creber! her leadership skills are so cool i always got the sense that she wanted to be like AJ while also very much valuing her individuality. she's intuitive and she vents out her frustrations and i think she's really well written. the duos in the cmc is also really interesting to me.. apple bloom and scootaloo wanting to cause trouble while sweetie belle is their one voice of reason is one of my favorite dynamica. it's a mess, theyre a mess. but theyre also kids and should be allowed to be a mess, theyre wonderful characters. also they have the best songs truly
4. twilight - i dont think i realized how much i liked and related to twilight until like, 2020. i think she's a really good protagonist and i personally had no issue with her getting wings. if u hate it that's cool but im built different. her special interest in reading/learning is soooo good and her hyperlexia coming in handy when they needed to gain information fast was always cool to see. the crystal empire episodes are amazing oh my god i remember watching the pilot to season 3 and losing my MIND king sombra felt Very high stakes and i get heavy nostalgia from any mlp episode with snow in it. i think twilight sacrificing herself is a very important trait in her, because she'd do it a thousand times if it meant saving and protecting others. she's a really good teacher and i really liked the episode where she helps the cmc with their hobbies!! also her getting RD into books is everything. i love twilight i love her conversations with spike, i love that she kinda goes insane sometimes. i love owlicious and her tree library (i dont really like her castle. it's pretty but doesnt feel very . home to me..make this castle a home felt like the writers knew my thoughts HDJSHDJ)
5. rainbow dash - aha okay so RD was my favorite my entire childhood and i think i was justified on that. she's so cool and adhd of all time, but i think at some point i just found more joy in when characters are really thoughtful. not to say she isnt thoughtful, but she's a bit airheaded. ive Loved the wonderbolts costume for as long as i can remember i think it's very gender. also RD's friendship with everyone is important to me. i love that she's able to pull fluttershy out of her shell, i love that her and pinkie have the most energy out of everyone in the show (pinkie pride is a really good episode and also breaks my heart. pinkie pie RSD episode of ever) fall weather friends is one of my favorite episodes, i could watch it over and over!! i love her and AJ's dynamic theyre so fun theyre so cool once again love ashleigh ball. her support for scootaloo makes me weep, the way she cares for tank also puts me in tears. i love her design I LOVE THE WHOLE LORE WITH THE SONIC RAINBOOM. the fact the mane 6 are connected by this One event is bonkers and so rad. i think her loyalty could've been written better, but that's like my only real problem. sometimes the elements are just..not very real feeling cough cough rarity cough
sidenote i love like everyone in the show, mostly. i think discord is so entertaining and a disaster. his friendship with fluttershy is special. also luna ohhh luna is so lovely. her story makes me feel many emotions!! and i love sunset shimmer

No Escape from the Rainbow Factory, chapter 1 full
“...All together now, Wonder group, what is the motto of the Rainbow Factory?”
“IN THE RAINBOW FACTORY, YOUR DREAMS AND HOPES COME TRUE!” a dozen young voices shouted at once.
The guest presenter had to take a moment to check his hearing still worked, while Ms. Cheerilee held a hoof to her mouth to block out a giggle. “No windows broken? Good! Because THAT’S the kind of enthusiasm I need to hear! I only wish some of my co-workers could be so cheerful. Well,” he adopted a mock thoughtful expression, “I suppose if some of you came to work for the Rainbow Factory now…”
“Rainbow Dust!” Ms. Cheerilee chided with a grin.
“That’s my name, don’t wear it out!” Now a few groans could be heard from the foals (“Gag me with a silver spoon!”), with Sweetie Belle taking the lead in volume, and those mean fillies Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon miming gagging to each other. “What? What?” Rainbow Dust declared in his best impersonation of a baffled old granny mare. Then he gave a little smirk before pulling a serious face and stating, “It’s probably for the best that you don’t like old ground-up cliches (most foals were confused when he said this) like that, since”, he sighed, “I have to leave now.”
“Ah, c’mon!” Snips whined, “Why do ya gotta go?”
“Yeah!” Rumble joined in, “Tell us another story!”
After the roar of assent that shook the room, it took Cheerilee a couple moments and a classic teacher counting diversion to get the class on track and keep them from rioting.
Rainbow Dust had a twinkle in his eye and another winning smirk. “No. Stop. Agh. I want to go to work.”
Apple Bloom piped up, “Ah, horsefeathers. (“Language!” Cheerilee admonished) Ahm sorry, Ms. Cheerilee, but,” she sat up and put her hooves up, “t’ain’t no way he would wanna go back ta workin’ insteada hangin’ out with us,” she focused her classic puppy-dog stare on Rainbow Dust, “wouldn’t y’all?”
At that Rainbow Dust just gave a reserved grin and a not unkind look to the little yellow-and-redhead. “Well, I guess I can answer a couple of questions from my Wonder group before I fly off…” Cheerilee agreed, and the class went into a romping cheer before calmly sitting back down.
“Okay, who’s first?”
About everyone’s hoof was in the air.
Scootaloo’s was waving more energetically than anyone else’s.
“Alright… you, there, sir!” He pointed.
“Yay!” It was Snips, who asked a question and got an answer that Scootaloo didn’t hear, since she was waiting for the best moment to get to raise her hoof first.
Rainbow Dust took a look out the window at the sun’s direction, and back at his sundial. “Alright, I’ve only got time for one more question…”
“Ooh! Ooh! Pick me!” Scootaloo was waving both hooves in the air and fluttering her wings, gaining a hover. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon sniggered at this, while Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle giggled goodnaturedly.
“Alright, calm down, missy. What do you want to know?” He was amused by the display.
“Ooh! Oh. Uh…” Think, Scootaloo, think! “What’re rainbows made out of?”
Cheerilee’s jaw dropped, while Diamond Tiara was still sniggering. Nopony saw the look that Silver Spoon pulled at Scootaloo.
Rainbow Dust flew over and put his hoof on Scoot’s muzzle. Now, before this point, almost everypony’s gaze was directed straight at where Rainbow Dust stood, so they didn’t get the time or chance to see the look on his face as he flew over, quicker than a young foal’s reflexes. Even Scootaloo was too distracted mentally kicking herself over forgetting her many questions to notice the emotions crossing his face.
But Silver Spoon saw.
He gave Scootaloo a sly smile as he booped her nose and she scrunched her muzzle in shock. “Now, that’s a trade secret, little lady! I couldn’t say, or I might get fired (“Aww…..”). But don’t be discouraged! Work hard and pass your flight exam, and you can work for our wonderful feathermilitary Factory too! I’m counting on you, chief!” And Scootaloo could tell he meant it! Scootaloo was in awe! He talked to her! Maybe she’d have to take him up on that offer…!
Rainbow Dust flew back to the front of the classroom where a blushing Ms. Cheerilee stood. They exchanged a few whispers that were lost in the bustle of the class, after which Ms. Cheerilee looked as eager to teach as she usually was.
Rainbow Dust stated, “Well, that’s about it for today—and yer takes what yer gets!” he added to the increasing pleading from everypony in the room.
“Say thanks to our guest speaker today, class!”
“THANK YOU!” they shouted, twice as loud now.
“This is the only thing that keeps me going in this job,” Rainbow Dust admitted to Cheerilee with a warm, peaceful smile.
“I know just what you mean,” Cheerilee confessed, “My cousin works in the Rainbow Factory, as a—” Cheerilee gulped, “well, I get it.”
He looked at her. “Yeah… hey, I gotta get going. I’ll go grab my stuff!” He pranced out of the room with a twinkle in his eye and a shine dancing through his teeth.
“How does he do that?!” Sweetie Belle pouted. She tried to
“Weren’t ya listenin’? MAGICAL RAINBOWS!” Apple Bloom responded.
Scootaloo was engrossed in a day-dream of her being the most awesome Rainbow Pourer who was so good she made an eighth color appear in the rainbows and was made into the owner, so she didn’t say anything.
“Alright class, break for lunch!”
After taking part in the mad stampede of foals out of the schoolhouse, the Cutie Mark Crusaders sat at one of the bench tables in the shade.
Sweetie Belle asked, "Wasn't that pretty cool, Scoots?" Scootaloo was looking off in the distance with her chin grinding on her hooves. Off in a world of her own.
"Air control to Scootaloo! ("Huh?")" Sweetie Belle opened up her fashionable lunchbox and tore off the lid of a yogurt cup with telekinesis. "Sheesh! I knew that would wake you up," she smiled as she shot the yogurt into her mouth magically, making a big mess around her.
Scootaloo wasn't affected, since she expected Sweetie Belle to do that (show-off!) and could duck down in her seat across from Sweetie Belle to shield herself from the blast. Apple Bloom, however, was seated on Sweetie Belle's right and preoccupied with her construction worker-grade lunchbox, and took the full force of the yogurt explosion.
She licked her lips. "Mm-mm! Purple huckleberries! My favorite!" They all giggled at that...
... Something feels wrong. Oh, yeah!
Scootaloo cocked an eyebrow at Sweets. "Wait, what's 'air control'? Some type of pegasus force?"
"Yer not all wrong," Apple Bloom stated in bemusement, huckleberry still on most of her face. Sweetie Belle wiped off her own face with a red fabric handkerchief and offered it to Scootaloo, but she waved it off since her own orange coat was untouched.
Sweetie Belle took on a poised pose with her hoof raised, eyes closed, and smile present before kindly explaining to her friend, "That guy that was in there from the Rainbow Factory talked about it when he answered Snips's question. From the top of the spiraling tower in the middle of the Rainbow Factory, they direct the pegasuses ("Pegasi!" Apple Bloom interjected, coat now clean and naturally yellow with some help from the ornate green handkerchief Sweetie Belle floated over to her as well. "Whatever...") They direct the pegasi to fly the rainbows out all over the world super fast to make people happy and make peace and harmony," she concluded magnanimously.
"Ahh, mare! I totally should have paid more attention to that part..."
"What were y'all doin'? Playin' with yer tail?" Apple Bloom drawled with an innocently knowing look.
"Heh heh... Just spacin' off, y'know?" Scootaloo replied with an embarrassed grin and an uncomfortable shoulder shrug.
"Aw, horseapples, Scoots. You were daydreaming of bein’ a worker in the Rainbow Factory,” Apple Bloom stated very matter-of-factly.
Scootaloo’s ears twitched in embarrassment and her wings fluttered her into the air briefly as she whined, “Nuh uh! I’m gonna be the owner!” Her friends looked up at her skeptically for a moment as she hovered there for a little bit. She realized where she was and fell onto her seat. “—I mean, no I’m not…”
Bloom giggled, and Scootaloo glared at her.
Apple Bloom threw out her forelegs in defense. ”What? We-all already know y'love rainbows! Ah mean, ya practically mob Rainbow Dash ta ask fer auto-graphs every time ya see her!" Button Mash, who happened to be walking by and heard this, stopped and snorted at Scootaloo.
Scootaloo whined, "Dude, c'mon you can't embarrass me like this!” She glared at Mash, who gave a nonchalant whistle and trotted away. "I mean, at least I'm not the one who explodes a cup of yogurt every day at lunch now for like, what," she turned to Sweetie Belle, "five days?"
"Ah yeah! What'n tarnation'rya even thinking doin' that all the time???" Apple Bloom squeaked. Sweetie Belle was looking absently at her muffin, wondering if Rainbow Dash was related to Rainbow Dust.
Apple Bloom headbutted Sweets’ withers and said, "Earth control ta' Sweetie Belle!"
"Huh? Oh, heh!” Sweetie Belle had a smug look on her face. “Rarity’s been teaching me to move stuff around for a couple weeks now. Apparently, when ponies get to be our age, their magic starts really coming into their own. ("Their own what?") Unicorns get magic magic, earth ponies get... earth magic, and pegasi get, y'know, air magic."
"Ooh! Ah got that talk from Applejack, too! Lemme show y’all what Ah learned!" Apple Bloom held up her lunchbox from earlier. Opening it up, there was a little sapling inside, nestled in too much dirt for a food receptacle. It was kind of leafy, but kind of gray, and a little cracked and dry.
"What?" the others chorused. Scootaloo followed the thread first. "Was that just in there without sunlight for the whole day? They're not meant to do that..."
Apple Bloom shrugged. "Well, Ah know Ah could take care of it through the day. Applejack told me, and showed me, that Ah could use mah earth pony magic to grow apples from trees! So Ah got this one to practice on here! Ah kinda like how it survives and thrives away from the world… Oh, yeah,” she added, “please don't tell mah family!” She pleaded, “They wouldn't like it!"
“‘Kay, ‘kay,” Sweets agreed.
Scootaloo was thinking about her own magic. She thought about her parents.
... She was starting to feel uneasy. Just where do I fit in here, anyway...? What right do I have to be here?
Scootaloo decided right then and there that she would get cool magic someday, too! She turned to Apple Bloom and spoke her mind. "I'm gonna get cool magic of my own someday, too! Oh yeah, first, let's see you make that apple grow, mare!" she shouted.
"Boy howdy! Let's get to it! Alright, let’s see if this works,” she added under her breath. Apple Bloom gently pushed her hooves into the dirt around the sapling and took deep, rhythmic breaths. Five seconds in, five seconds held, five seconds out, five seconds held. Over and over.
After the other fillies were starting to grow bored, some movement perked up in the modest leafy sapling.
"Oooooh!" Sweetie Belle sung. "It's blooming! There’s a bloom, Bloom!" The bow-haired filly nodded her head vigorously for a moment, continuing to massage the earth and breathe in her routine. "There's a flower blooming at the tip!" And there was, and it was starting to weigh down the little sap.
… Poor, poor tree. Scootaloo couldn't shake the feeling that this was hurting the tree, like Apple Bloom should have just left the sapling home and left it to its own devices. It’s not right, she thought, it’s not…
She couldn't watch. Her ears flattened to her skull. She hid the sapling from her eyes with her hooves.
Sweetie Belle squeaked, "Something's growing!" Something’s wrong. Something’s going very, very wrong. Her natural pegasus instincts were just screaming at her, making her feel like the world was spinning before she closed her eyes and tried to stop the gagging sensation of almost throwing up from overwhelming her. She felt like bigger things than her—bigger than Equestria, actually, were rushing around her head in circles among the oppressive breeze, pounding at her head.
After what seemed like minutes of this, she heard Sweetie Belle exclaim, "WOW! Just look at it, Scoots!"
"Huh, ah wasn't 'spectin' that..."
Scootaloo peeked out from behind her hooves, a cold shiver wracking her body and a faintness starting to come to her. The nausea and the sensation of phantoms dancing around her skull had suddenly stopped, but the sensation wouldn’t end. Her shakiness and instinctual fear still escaped the attention of her friends.
"It's blue!" Sweets exclaimed.
A blue apple was weighing down the sapling. Sweetie Belle snatched it from the tree (gently!) and took a bite. "Mmmm! It tastes pretty good, Bloom!"
"Well, it's kinda a bad omen in th’ Apple family for an apple ta turn out blue, but there have been a coupla cases of this kinda thing’n Cousin Gene’s farm a few years back, where—"
Sweetie Belle rolled her eyes and stuffed the apple in Bloom’s mouth, who took a bite, and said, "Huh! Kinda sweet! (Not as sweet as the ---- apple, but... ...)"
Sweets swallowed her bite and just then noticed Scoots, whose head was on the table with her hooves on her muzzle, shaking. “Hey,” she nickered worriedly, “are you okay?”
Scootaloo’s ears started twitching again. She peeked an eye out from behind her hoof and meekly said, “O-oh, I’m j-just feeling a little… sick. T-that’s it,” right before she quickly hid behind her hoof again and shuddered.
Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle exchanged worried glances, mentally coming to the same conclusions. This was one of Scootaloo’s panic attacks. They knew that this was a part of being friends with a growing pegasus by now, that the young fliers could be set off by a sudden unplanned change of air pressure around them or some weather thing that only a pegasus could feel, and that they could be a bit mood-swingy sometimes, just like Sweetie Belle’s drama-fiend sister.
They might have not known why Scootaloo was panicking, but they knew they had to help out as much as equinely possible.
Apple Bloom reached across the table, which was not an easy feat by any means, and nuzzled Scootaloo’s forelegs while grasping them in her hooves. The calming repetition of Bloom’s warm breath on her fur combined with the soft nuzzling served to soothe Scoot’s overpowering flight/flight/freeze instincts, and she stopped twitching her ears or shaking.
However, her expression, which was now distinguishable as that of horror, was still hidden behind her forelegs, and her breathing now had a distinct shuddering quality to it.
Sweetie Belle stepped in now. She gently said, “Scoots…”
Scootaloo flinched away from Apple Bloom, before returning to her softness.
Sweets said, firmly now, but not unkindly, “Scoots—Scootaloo. I might not understand what you’re going through, but I do understand that you’re having a bad time right now and need help. Do you want to talk about it?” She raised an eyebrow and tilted her muzzle at Scootaloo.
Seeing her friend shake her head in the negatory, she pushed her muffin across the table to touch Scootaloo, who peeked out from behind her hooves, eventually broke down her defenses with a sigh, and popped it in her mouth. It was her favorite flavor, blueberry. Apple Bloom rested her head on the table, looking up at Scootaloo with a big smile across her face.
“‘Bout time ya woke up from yer coma!”
Scootaloo glared behind her, appearing bemused but feeling as wing-achingly embarrassed as if she broke down crying in front of her friends. Nopony else seemed to have noticed her breakdown, which was good. Her ears twitched with the shame of it all.
Bloom grinned. “Now that looks more like th’ filly Ah know! Why—” she flashed her most innocent, most naive smile as she pointed at Scootaloo’s glare, “Ah mighta thought y’all were scared of mah earth magic earlier if not for this!”
Scootaloo shot up again. “What! Me? No, fluttering, way!” Sweetie Belle sighed in relief and exhaustion; the spell was broken.
Apple Bloom could just giggle. “Ya can talk tough,” she drawled and pushed the apple towards Scootaloo, “but can ya back it up? Ah promise mah apple’s not bad fer ya! After all, Ah tried it mahself!”
Scootaloo gulped as she hovered down to the table bench uncertainly. Then, she steeled her stare toward Bloom and took the apple in hoof. After all, she couldn’t very well be scared by a little old apple that her own friend made with her own hooves and sweat! She wouldn’t forgive herself if she did.
Scootaloo nibbled on it a little.
It tasted bitter.

They’re like the Wonderbolts... But EXTREME!!!
Tumblr media
Rainbow Dash is doing her usual snooping on her own Fan Club (which I’m guilty of sort of as I am in the Official Discord for Death Battle and directly talking to fans), when Scootaloo closed it really fast. Because she has a new obsession: The Washout! This shocks Dash to confront her about the new fandom and this worries Rainbow Dash because she feels she could lose Scootaloo.
Tumblr media
With the advice from her friends, Dash decides to check it out and she too enjoys it. She was hoping to show that being a Wonderbolt they would be impressed with her, thus Scootaloo back to being a fan, only to find out each one of them were a Wonderbolt Washout. Rolling Thunder for being reckless enough to do barrel rolls during a very high electrical storm. And Shortfuse for having his namesake.
Tumblr media
And who are leading these knuckleheads? Lightning Dust, making her return since Wonderbolt Academy. While there is animosity between the two, Lightning Dust is happy to be out so she could create the Washouts. Which leads to why Scootaloo may be a fan of the Washouts. While the Wonderbolts are looking for the best of the best, the Washouts believe anyone can be the best.
Tumblr media
It's a nice sales pitch, but the problem is their product isn’t really selling them as being the best. They’re just doing things more dangerous than a typical Wonderbolts show. While it would be great for the audience if everything goes smoothly, if something happens said pony would be out. As seen as Rolling Thunder apparently hurt her legs during the Crushinator Jaws of Smashalot! (Patent pending).
Tumblr media
Lightning Dust offers Dash a spot but she refuses. She fails to notice that Scootaloo is buying the pitch. So to try to fix it, she takes her to Spitfire. And of all the things to carry from the IDW Comics, I am glad that Spitfire being bad with children is one of them. Especially when she ends her scenarios with the pony in question in a FULL BODY WING-AND-HOOF CAST, DRINKIN' THROUGH A STRAW!
Tumblr media
Sadly, all this pushing led to Scootaloo running away from Rainbow Dash. And when she found out Scootaloo went to see them training, she gets a little talking to by Twilight to realize that Dash is afraid to lose Scootaloo. And not just in an accident waiting to happen. She’s afraid to lose her as a little sister. Which makes things worse as Scootaloo is now a Washout.
Tumblr media
Between the sales pitch and the Wonderbolts looking only for the best of the best, this led Scootaloo to believe the Washouts are her only choice because she can’t fly. Possibly the strongest example of this being a legit handicap than her just not knowing how. Rainbow Dash reluctantly accepts Scootaloo’s decision as Dash realizes that she is her own pony and can make her own choices.
Tumblr media
But on the day of the performance, Scootaloo is getting cold feet. While the stunt sounds good on paper, it's untested. If anything goes wrong, the pony in the rocket could get hurt or worse. And here is where Lightning Dust’s words come back to remind you: “Look, was it wrong of me to endanger the lives of your friends? Yeah. But, hey, now I only endanger these knuckleheads.” And guess who just signed up to be the newest Knucklehead.
Tumblr media
Giving Scootaloo no option, Lightning Dust activates the Rockets and sends Scootaloo flying towards the ramp. Luckily for her, Rainbow Dash follows the Sonic Montra: “I know I was supposed to let you make your own decisions, but that doesn't mean I can't swoop in and save you from time to time.” And to get her comeuppance, Lightning Dust gets her hoof tied to the rocket as it is flying by and is launched into the sky vowing that her and Dash are Rivals for Life. And considering we never see Lightning Dust again...
Tumblr media
It ends with Scootaloo apologizing for not realizing who Lightning Dust truly was. Rainbow Dash apologizing for not acting like someone she should be idolizing. And Rainbow Dash forming the Scootaloo Fan Club as Scootaloo eavesdrops. Overall, a fun episode that shows the evolving relationship between Dash and Scootaloo.
Tumblr media
From a fangirl willing to do anything for Dash’s attention. To Dash accepting the role of a Big Sister. To the two being very good together as sisters. To Scootaloo wanting to find out who she is beyond her relationship with her sister. And comparing how Dash was willing to endanger AB’s life trying to find a cutie mark to seeing her worry about Scootaloo is a big sign of the evolution Dash has as a character.

Lyra: New Plans
Running into her sister had been the best thing that'd happened to Lyra all day. Her sister's words had done wonders to calm her heart down and cool her emotions. A pang of embarrassment briefly shot through her. She never should have let herself get so worked up over seeing Spike eat those gems. Of course Blacklin wouldn't have realized what they were for when she never approached him.
Minuette had been right, of course. She usually was. Ever since they were fillies, Minuette had been the calmer of the two. Which was surprising given how excitable she could get with her friends. Even the wildest of personalities can have their serious sides she figured though.
It was silly of her to think that a simple little gem would be enough to get Blacklin's attention. What was he going to do with them? Exactly what he had done. That or pass them off to Rarity.
It was the same with flowers. Roseluck was his alpha, he could get all the flowers he ever wanted from her! No, she needed to do something different. Something beyond tradition. This was a unique case after all.
No, what she would need to do was something bigger. Something even more personal. Not just to her, but to him as well. Something that really showed what lengths she was willing to go in order to be a part of his herd.
The question that was left then was "what?" What could possibly be found that would do that? Well, the only place she'd find that answer was the library of course. She just hoped that it was Twilight who would be in. While she had nothing against Wind Whistler, she truly didn't want to deal with that annoying know-it-all other mare.
She slowed herself to a steady trot. As much as she wanted to rush, to do things immediately, she couldn't. Shouldn't. Rushing just lead to rash decisions and things she would regret. That was something she didn't want to have happen twice in one day.
Despite herself, her mind did end up drifting towards the possibilities. Ancient relics , unfound gems of great power, fancy jeweled wing decorations! As long as it showed her dedication, that's what was important, right? He'd recognize that effort and accept her, right?
She paused, stumbling briefly. Her heart sinking as her mind casted itself back to not twenty minutes prior. Accept her. Would he? Should he. After what she had done. What she had said. She'd be lucky if he even wanted to talk to her again after that display.
She slammed a hoof down and shook her head. No. That was exactly why she had to go big. This wasn't just about courtship. Not anymore. This was about apologizing to him. That is why she wanted acceptance. That is why this had become so important to her.
Resolve restored, heart calmed, she took note of her surroundings finally. Lost in her thoughts as she had been, the mare hadn't realized that she'd already reached her destination: Golden Oaks Library. Surely Twilight would know of something that was exactly what Lyra needed. The know-it-all, well, knew it all. She could magic something up that other unicorns could only dream of.
She pushed open the door and called out for Twilight as loud as she could.
"TWILIGHT! WHERE ARE YOU?! I NEED YOUR HELP WITH SOMETHING!"
There was no answer. Lyra frowned as looked around. This wasn't normal. Twilight was always around. It just was how it was.
"Twi? For the love of Celestia, where are you?"
She took a few steps farther in and looked around once more. Once more, she was about to call out when the mare found herself interrupted.
"Twilight isn't here at the moment." The cultured and smooth female voice caught Lyra off guard and she stumbled back a few steps almost falling on her rear. A quick glance revealed a familiar light blue pegasus with pink mane and tail coming down the stairs.
"She's currently out on a date and asked not to be disturbed at all," the pegasus continued. "And please stop yelling. Bright Eyes and Scootaloo are downstairs studying currently, Miss Heartstrings."
Lyra blushed lightly and looked down. "Oh, Wind Whistler, I'm sorry." She gave a nervous chuckle and sighed. The one time she had really needed Twilight and she wasn't around. Fate must have really been having a laugh at her expense today. Her friend off on a-
"Wait, did you say date?" Her head jerked up and she stared at Whistler in sudden shock. "Who is she-" No, wait. That wasn't important. As curious as she was, delving into Twilight's love life was not the purpose of her visit. That was something she could wait on. Now was the time to focus on herself.
"No, never mind," she waves the previous train of thought away with a hoof, moving on. "Okay, she's not here. Fine. Maybe you can help me then."
Whistler raised a brow, a very subtle hint of a smile playing on the pegasus' lips. Still, she remained quiet, simply encouraging Lyra to continue on with a silent nod of her head.
Lyra nodded back and took a breath. "Do you know of any kind of gems or gem related things that are specific to the Griffon Kingdom? Like, relics or something. Important gem types and things like that."
"That is quite the question, Miss Heartstrings," the pegasus commented, brow raising once more as her head tilted slightly.
The unicorn mare gave a nervous chuckle, cheeks flushing once more. That had to sound beyond odd and probably pretty suspicious. She just really didn't want to have to explain herself, not now.
"Okay, yeah, I know that sounds really weird. I promise I have a really good reason for asking though! I just, y'know, don't wanna go into why. It's really embarrassing and long, okay?"
The silence that followed her comment caused Lyra to begin pacing in place. Her heart starting to speed up once more as anxiety crept up on her. Whistler was going to press the topic, she knew it and wouldn't blame her for it. If someone had pressed her with that same question, she'd do the same. She would have to. She just hoped that she was wrong. Worry filled her eyes as she bit her lower lip and watched the pegasus.
Whistler closed her eyes. A deep breath was taken and slowly released. Slowly she opened her eyes and turned towards the shelves, looking over them. Lyra found herself releasing a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. Her head tilted slightly as she watched the pegasus walk over slowly to a far shelf. Her hoof hovering over the spines before taking a book and tucking it in her wing.
The other mare looked back towards Lyra and motioned for Lyra to join her as she moved to a podium, setting the book she'd taken and setting it down.
"You are in luck, Miss Heartstrings," Whistler says as she opened the book. "We had recently gotten a few books on the history of the border towns not long ago thanks to the efforts of our newest town residents. Miss Gilda was insistent we carried books on them."
Lyra tilted her head as she watched Wind Whistler flip through the pages. The pegasus soon stopped and pointed to the page she ended on. Curious, the unicorn mare stepped next to her and looked at the book. Her eyes grew wide at what she saw.
Perfection wasn't the word she would use, but it was certainly close. The book depicted a statue of a gryphon made of gold embracing a unicorn made of silver. Both were encrusted with topaz, amethyst and sapphires. The gryphon's eyes made of emerald and the unicorn's made of ruby.
"It's called The Divine Lovers," Whistler says. "And according to legend, it was created as a gift to the first governor of Shetlearn nearly a thousand years ago. It's said to bring it's owner prosperity and true love."
She looks at Lyra, giving the unicorn a concerned look. "Though I must remind you that this is just a legend. It's very existence is something that has been debated for decades. And no one even knows if this is what it even looks like."
Lyra couldn't take her eyes off the image. It was exactly what she had been looking for. Though something about the location made her tilt her head a bit in confusion.
"It's supposed to be in Shetlearn?" She asked. "Why does that sound familiar?"
"If you will recall, that is where Blacklin had gone when he took his sabbatical a year ago," Whistler stated. "Though, I should say that today's Shetlearn is far different from the one referenced in that book. Old Shetlearn is what it's called now. A few miles on the outskirts of town on the Griffon Kingdom side. If it's anywhere, it'd be in those ruins."
"Right, right." Lyra was barely paying attention at that point. Her mind going over what she remembered of Blacklin's return. He said he had come straight from where he'd gone to Canterlot via train and then back to Ponyville. If that was the case, it would be simple to retrace that exact trip back. Though, would she be able to get a ticket to Shetlearn from Ponyville? No, more than likely she'd have to go to Canterlot first and then get a ticket to Shetlearn from there.
A sigh and a wry smile came to her. How she wished she had wings. It'd make a trip like that so much easier. No need to worry about train tickets or schedules. Just take to the air fly directly there, resting on clouds when needed.
She shook her head and gave Whistler a tight hug, smiling genuinely for the first time all day. "Thank you, Wind Whistler. This is a great help. Even if that thing doesn't exist, I'm sure I'll find exactly what I need there. I need to go pack now!"
Still smiling, she let the pegasus go and hurried off. Plans needed to be made and ponies informed of them. She might be in a hurry, but she wasn't like the object of her affection. There would be no running off without informing others. Minuette and Bon Bon especially needed to know. They'd be the ones to worry most about her, after all. They'd also be able to inform her other friends quickly as well.
For the first time since that morning, her heart felt light. Things were looking up.

Headcanon: Scootaloo
Alrighty, since I've seen some debate on whether or not Scootaloo is disabled and more so, whether or not she can just get over it, I decided she'll be the first character I address. As far as I care, she is permanently physically disabled, and I will have such representation in my art. About Scootaloo: Scootaloo already was canonically very close to having the lesbian pride colors, so I just went in and did it fully. Yes, that lesbian flag there is also her color palette. Scootaloo is a nonbinary lesbian that uses she/they pronouns. They're more in line with the butch type. Scootaloo was one of the very lucky ones who just knew she was gay ever since they were little. They never really had to deal with compulsory heterosexuality, but they did have to learn to help other mares who did struggle cope with their reality. Scootaloo advocates for both the unseen lesbians and the physically disabled. Since there are no cutie marks in my universe, the CMC will have a completely different purpose, which I will get into later on. Scootaloo was born with Pennon Unvaned Disorder (PUD) and struggled with the fact that she will never fly like her idol, Rainbow Dash. This struggle was their primary conflict in youth (besides POS parents), but they have come to accept it in adulthood. Scootaloo, understanding that children not only have to cope with their physical disabilities but also a world that does not welcome them, specializes in pediatric physical therapy. The PT is her main career, but she still openly advocates in her free time in the public eye. Scootaloo still has to deal with some internal grief with the PUD- she's not completely over that loss- but on the outside, they do a very good job of demonstrating normalcy with disability. About Pennon Unvaned Disorder PUD: PUD is a genetic default that pegasi are born with. It is a chromosome skip, where the genotype to activate primary and secondary feather growth never gets activated. This means it can happen to any pegasus foal, pure or mixed. It affects about 0.5% (1 in 200) of the avian pegasus population. This means it is actually not that uncommon, but the pegasi who have this affliction normally go unseen. We have two canon characters with this disorder in the show, Scootaloo and Bulk Biceps. So what happens here? Well, with PUD, it affects both the feathering and skeletal systems. On the skeletal level, the humerus (upper arm bone) and radius/unla bones (forearm bones) are almost always typical in size and shape. The carpometacarpals, or what would be our hand bones, have a 50/50 chance of being typical in size, or showing signs of under-development. On the feathering system, the primary and secondary feathers are always absent. The coverts are almost always present, but some pegasi have those missing too, resulting in naked "chicken" wings. Yes, that terminology is considered ableist, as is that joke, in modern day society. PUD individuals who have their coverts present, such as Scootaloo, often get misled by ignorant ponies that one day those feathers will come in and one day they will fly! Aunt Lofty was the one who had to have the talk with Scootaloo that no, she'll never be able to fly without accommodation. Like in our world, accommodations are made for the wealthy and the privileged. PUD prosthetics are fairly simple. Since PUD pegasi have functioning wing bones, muscles, and nerves, these prosthetics are just carefully crafted gliders that compensate the absent feathering. Their are different versions, some for every day flying, some for stunts and sports, even some for swimming. Drawn above is the standard model. Apteral avian prosthetics are for those who are absent of a wing through birth defect or injury. I will explore those another time. Either way, PUD prosthetics are still very expensive and hard to access. Most PUD individuals, Scootaloo included, don't bother getting a pair until adulthood. It takes a long time of physical therapy to build up with wing muscles and to get prosthetics crafted to what your wing shape would be, if they were typical. This is usually a several year process, but many able-bodied individuals assume that it's very easy to just get a pair of wings and start flying within the next week. (CW: Mentions ableism, child neglect) There is no cure for PUD, just accommodations for it. There is no way to 'catch' PUD early on since pegasi are born with featherless wings, unless your family is rich and privileged enough to get a chromosome scan done beforehand. In olden society, parents of PUD foals would quietly abandon or 'dispose' the unfortunately afflicted. In modern society, pegasi parents most definitely keep their children and most are lovingly willing to accommodate for their children. Poor Scootaloo was not so lucky, with her PUD being one of the reasons her parents abandoned her. As long as the child is not left to die, many pegasi still quietly sympathize with this cruel and unusual decision. It is still somewhat normalized in society. There is a disproportionate amount of pegasi orphans who are afflicted with PUDs in the modern foster care system. --- I lived about a third of my childhood physically disabled by a horrendous neck injury. I am lucky that it was a temporary disability. My physical disability was an injury with a very long healing time. When most children are exploring age-appropriate topics, I was in and out of dozens of hospitals and doctors from ages 6 to 12-ish. I had no idea- and neither did doctors- if I was ever going to get better. Lucky me, I did. But I could only imagine how kids in that same situation feel when they have something that won't get better. Not every disability has an easy cure, and not every disability can go away with enough determination. And that is okay. There is nothing wrong with disabled individuals, but there is something deeply wrong with how society treats us. My page is a safe space for the marginalized and undesirable. This means I won't be standing for any bigotry such as ableism in my space. Also, I am permanently mentally disabled, but that's a story for another day. TL;DR - Any ableist, ignorant takes will be hidden and you'll be blocked. Support me and see more exclusive art: www.patreon.com/horsecrimes Character © @hasbro Art © HorseCrimes

Ruff and Tumble!
Bios under the cut
Name: Ruff Nickname(s): Age: 11 Pronouns: She/Her Identity: bi girl crush/reltionship: Parents: Scootaloo and Rumble Sibling: Tumble Special Talent: Animal care Occupation: Student, Dog walker Location: Califoalnia Likes: big dogs, baths, haircuts, dog videos, cute dogs Dislikes: homework, flight camp,  dentist Bio: Scootaloo and rumble often found themselves in the same circles of friends and groups, but as they entered their teen years they found themselves spending more one on one time together. Often bumping into each other at flight shows, sport parks and ect. soon they were just making plans to do these things together.  the two dated through middle and highschool until they broke up, the two were both moving far for college and couldn't see themselves personally being able to keep up with a long distances relationship. a few years later they've bumped into one other, both were different from when they last saw each other. scootaloo still loved flying sports but was much for responsible and laid back having more of an interest in smaller at home hobbies. While Rumble not identifies as a woman and had just been divorced and had a young filly of her own. Scootaloo offer her home to her old friend while she found her hoof hold on life again, the divorce of her college love and child father  leaving her in pieces. Scootaloo was by her side for all she needed through her months of recovery and moving on. the two ended up falling into a life together as adults, rekindling their old torches for one another and raising their kid in a happy home with two moms. along the line they had a second kid, Ruff. Ruff was very young when her parents moved to Califoalnia, moving their to work along an old friend, Rainbow Dash to revitalize the new generation of Wonderbolts. Ruff is your typical young skater kid you'd see on tv, she loves the sun and known everyone, she likes to ride her skateboard to the local shop where her older friends work. Often can be found walking almost 10+ dogs at a time on a daily bases and loves it. the backyard of her families home is a nightmare as its used to play with the many dogs she takes care off through the summer. She a good kid and loves to say shit like 'radical' and 'swag' unironically.   The one problem she has is her parents pushing her to join Rainbow dash's training for the new wonderbolts, but Ruff wants nothing to do with it. she isnt interested in flying and hates every summer her parents send her to flight camp. she just wants to stay home and hang out with her friends and dog. Sadly she's the kid who got the wings and her parents seem to expect her to use them.
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Name: Tumble Nickname(s): Age: 14 Pronouns: He/him Identity: Questioning boy crush/reltionship: Parents: Rumble and Scootaloo (Adoptive mother) Sibling: Ruff Special Talent: gymnastics Occupation: Student, gymnastics team Location: Califoalnia Likes: school, parkour videos, comic books, rules, Spiders Dislikes: math, errands, spending time with others longer than he can handle Bio: Born to Rumble and another unamed pony, Rumble married her college romance right after graduation and had a kid right away. Rumble soon learned she may have rushed into things too soon as her partner up and left her with the kid to never be heard from after their divorce finalized. Tumble was too young to remember any of this, he only remembers growing up in a home with his mom Rumble and her girlfriends Scootaloo. As he got older he learned that scootaloo took rumble in after her divorce and after awhile of healing and rekindling their childhood romance they began to date. and when tumble was 3 they brought home his baby sister. Tumble is now 14 and loves gymanstics often staying after school for hours being the last one out of the gymnasium. He quiet popular with the others in his classes, he gets good grades and is fairly a good student. on top of this he even had a temper and even openly hates dumb school rules which gets other to see him as having a 'bad boy streak'. He kinda just plays as the ultimate perfect older brother type. However his temper is a real problem and he often has a problem with jealousy especially toward his younger sister. he often worries his parents like her more because they had her together and not him, or that she has wings and they expect her to become a wonderbolt. Not to mention she hangs out with some of his friends at their jobs while he is working on his form at the gymasium during the summer, and they seem to genuinely find her fun and not pestering at all. maybe it is silly of him to be so jealous of his carefree sister but, what can ya do.

kinda dumb but heres my mlp headcanons!
you can read my garbled text below! sorry its so repetitive lol i kinda rushed it!
HI i'm not the first one to do this (duh) but i wanted to do my own! some info abt the ponies; Theyre all different types of ponies sent from different parts of the pony...earth? To this magic school so they can become the defenders of equestria and stuff! The series surrounds them becoming friends while going thru character arcs and stuff. The villains are all the same but are being sent out by one being or something so the final villain/season revolves around testing the truth of their friendship!! Also they like......live there so theyre all like stranger roomates! also theyre all modeled a little differently so none of them look the same Twilight Sparkle -shes still a unicorn(at first) -shes very hipster and standoffish at first. -She has a really bad memory regarding things from the past, but easily remembers things from the present onward (this is important for her character arc) -she wears her hair up most of the time in a messy bun/ponytail, but sometimes she lets it down -guess what guyz!! she cant see at all lol so yeah..she finally gets the glasses she deserves (if ur wondering yeah she had big dorky glasses as a kid) character arc -shes princess luna!! thats why she has such a bad memory from the past. Princess celestia made this entire school a thing because she wanted to give her sister a redo since twilight messed up so bad in the past and she thinks giving her a chance to experience friendship will help prevent repeating the past. -cus of this i gave her a new cutiemark bc her old one doesnt represent that moon princess vibe! -also she has a really big horn since shes royalty! This also gives her a reason to become an alicorn once she finds out shes princess luna. AND IT EXPLAINS HER NAME FDHJSKF (shes the last to get her character arc) Rarity -shes still very prissy and loves fashion but loves to dress her friends up -her hair moves really pretty in water bc shes a MERPONY! heck yea -she has a mole under her eye -she hav hooves on land and a tail in water (like h2o just add water vibes) character arc -shes originally very standoffish and doesnt want to accept spending time with different species of ponies, but when her sister (Sweetie belle who is also a merpony) becomes friends with a pegasus(scootaloo) and an earthpony (apple bloom) she learns to be more accepting and earns the generosity element (Shes the second to have a character arc) Fluttershy -shes a flutterpony! so she is very very teeny -her hair is a lot longer and covers one eye (until her character arc) -she's super meek and has a very big head and ears and really skinny legs! very cute aah character arc -She used to be really scared of everything until she gets in an intimidating situation with like a dragon or something and then she realizes she has the power to talk to animals in both a strict but loving way. She learns to stop being as meek and rarity makes her a little hair clip so she can get her hair out of her face and........boys..........get this.......she has heterochromia. (shes the third to have a character arc and this starts her love for animals and gets her the kindness element!!) Apple Jack -shes a regular ol earthpony :~P -she wears a handkerchief in her hair instead of a hat bc hats are hard to draw and i think she looks cuter in this lol. -freckles..........everywhere -she wears her hair in a bunch of different ways!! country girl i love eeyouuuu -she doesnt speak a lot in the beginning :/ shes kinda standoffish and she has a very lovely country accent and i love her (also she has clydesdale hooves hehe) character arc -applejack deserves a good arc and they keep focusing on her stupid parents............I WANNA SEE MY GIRL GO THRU TROUBLE!! okay get ready -she is very scared of being tomboyish bc she doesnt want to be made fun of by her friends so she hides her tomboyish nature and how STRONG she is bc/ she doesnt want to seem boyish. she forces herself to act really girly but a situation occurs or something and she is forced to show her strength and come clean to the others. she is really scared but because she tells them the truth she gets the element of honesty and the others are like "were glad u told us because youre our friend and u shouldnt have to hide anything from us!" yeah anyways i love her and from that point on she is more tomboyish but still girly! (shes the fifth to get her character arc) Rainbow Dash -shes still a pegasus! -i love her so much but people think she's annoying and always make her buff and calm but i did the OPPOSITE i made her SUPER PUNY and SUPER FAST and MORE ANNOYING because i LOVE HER!!! -she fluff up like a bird when she's upset! -because she's smaller she has bigger ears and wings >:] -shes very conceited (At first) and bosses people around (even tho shes so puny) character arc -she's a really selfish character before hand but then everyone gets into some sort of danger and she risks herself just to save them!! bc of this she gets the loyalty element and cares a lot more about everyone else afterwards and is still annoying but is able to stop herself from being so selfish! (shes the fourth to get her character arc!) Pinkie Pie -shes a crystal pony! -when she first is introduced she forces herself to be regal and in her crystal form -she cant let herself laugh around the other ponies bc she doesnt want them to see her as silly/not good enough/not serious -she has a really 80s spunky vibe and wears roller skates -yeah she still has that twitch thing but instead of it being her tail its her little hair curl coming from the top of her head -gummy is a croc she finds and decides to keep (after her arc) character arc -in like the second episode or something, a curse is placed on the characters where they all look different, but pinkie isnt affected, and after seeing everyone laughing and struggling with the temporary defects, she starts laughing and reverts from a crystal pony to her normal state and her hairs all poofy and its real cute and shit.........she gets the element of laughter and everyones like "whyd u hide ur happiness?" and she says she didnt wanna get judged and god.......its jsust real nice (shes the first one to get an arc) anywayz this took a long time to write for no reason and its just SO MUCH if u actually read this i love u!!! this was inspired a lot by jenny nicholson's next gen ideas!!!! 100% creds to her for the inspo<3 i changed a lot of things but i still based some ideas from her!

Starlight Glimmer/Post-Secrets Of The Dragon’s Tear Thoughts
So now that Secrets of the Dragon’s Tear is finished. I can now sort of put some reflections on some of the things that I did. I did a lot to expand the lore of I Dream of Twilight Sparkle and/or give my sort of interpretation of where some characters could go after the final two-parter and tried my darndest to fit it in a way that wouldn’t be too farfetched if some details were actually canon. From Scootaloo helping out the Wonderbolts expand, Sweetie starting her music career, Dragons not having marriages, Moondancer having had a crush on Twilight, Where Spike’s egg was found and who his dragon mother was and what happened to her along with how his egg ended up in Equestria and get linked with Twilight in such a way given there was not any other Pony/Dragon companionship in the show ever. And of course all of the lore expansions that was revealed with Twilight speaking to Jennesis and Jinn, plus Applejack and family reuniting with her deceased parents (Obviously FiM is the kind of show that doesn’t let you say death. But there’s absolutely no way they’re alive judging from some of the faces and even a few subtle lines in the episode The Perfect Pear.)
But funnily enough, one huge part of the story that I didn’t quite expect to have. Was the entirety of Starlight’s part of the story. You see, Starlight Glimmer was a character I was always… kind of lukewarm towards. I could never quite get past how quick her redemption was plus from what we are told… she almost rebooted the timeline… just because her friend got a cutie mark and left (Which by that logic, Moondancer should have become a villain too. She’d probably have even connected more as a villain since at least she had a connection to Twilight. I’m not saying I would of preferred Moondancer be a villain as I like how she actually is. But having her episode where she only become a shut-in after Twilight didn’t show up at her party and moved to Ponyville sort of become detrimental to Starlight’s story that she went as far as she did after Sunburst moved). We never got any more details about that other then Starlight felt sad about that and it was somehow enough to start her turn to darkness not to mention never got an explanation for why she was so magically powerful. Even besides ridiculous stuff like turning kitchen utensils into a cake, she’s able to levitate herself without wings which we can assume is something Twilight can’t even do.
So Starlight kind of became a rather frustrating character. I never hated her per se, but it’s easy to see why she was sort of a divisive character when she’s sort of shoehorned as a recurring character with a rather weak turn-to-villainy story combined with a magic power that without the proper explanation I’m sure got her cursed out as a Mary Sue. And some of those actually had a point, unlike the people who thought Twilight getting her wings would instantly make her a Mary Sue. And even with some episodes coming up that might of promised some more Starlight backstory, it never exactly went that way. I am sort of thankful for that now, given it gave me free reign to do what I did for Starlight in the story. But stuff like Parent Map certainly only gave really small details like Starlight had a goth phase and didn’t even show a mother for her (Again thankful for that now since one of the big plot twists of the story depends on almost no one knowing who Starlight’s mother is aside from obviously her father who had a reason to keep her a secret)
When Starlight was dropped from being Twilight’s student in Season 7. That was something of a relief because the fear was that Starlight was going to become an Alicorn and she still wouldn’t enough backing to really support making her a Princess. Even if you weren’t a fan of Twilight becoming an Alicorn, there’s no denying that prior to Magical Mystery Cure we didn’t really know the ultimate goal of Celestia mentoring Twilight for. It didn’t seem right that she mentored her just to free her sister, save the world some more on occasion before, as she just spends her life with her friends. Even Lauren Faust’s vision was Twilight to succeed Celestia at some point, and in that context seems like it makes sense that Twilight became an Alicorn. Starlight becoming an Alicorn however risked being everything people feared about Magical Mystery Cure but worse since with how quick and with lack of explantation they did with adding Starlight as a recurring character that even has two-parters that star her instead of the Mane 6, that Starlight’s ascension was going to be when Twilight feels she is ready  despite having never given the audience everything we should want to know about Starlight, not to mention many of us still not quite forgiving her for nearly rebooting the timeline over… and I’ll repeat… a friend moving away.
So then, Starlight become a counselor in the school and had a few episodes involving that. And later, she is promoted to be Twilight’s successor to be Principal of the school. Which currently is how the show decided to keep as her canon role even up the more then a decade long timeskip in The Last Problem. Being a Principal of the School of Friendship is still a rather big deal. Though with the school only having been around for two seasons before the series ended it never really felt like it had too much of an impact so it kind of seemed like it gave Starlight a pretty mundane role that cools the fears of those who were afraid they were going to give a role to Starlight she doesn’t feel like she deserves without enough information about her. Though I imagine it may have been somewhat of an underwhelming choice for anybody who did like Starlight.
So Starlight’s legacy as a character goes like this: She’s Season 5’s seasonal villain that got quickly reformed in that season’s finale. Got important episodes in Season 6 and even gets to save Equestria alongside Trixie and Discord in Season 6’s finale. In Season 7 she’s stripped of being Twilight’s student to do whatever she wants. Though it was generally just slice of life with her own batch of friends whether it was Trixie, Sunburst, or Maud. And then she becomes a counselor in Season 8, promoted to Principal near the end of nine. Throughout her time on the show she’s sort of both an important protagonist throughout Seasons 6 and 7, but she never reaches quite Mane 6 or even CMC level in terms of working towards a clear goal or occupation. Other then I guess being tutored on the values of Friendship by Twilight we have no clear direction on where Starlight was supposed to go. So upon the School of Friendship, she’s free to essentially get employed under Twilight again but as a counselor throughout all of Season 8 and some of 9 until she’s given the reigns of the school after Twilight’s own promotion to sole ruler in Canterlot. So we’re left with a divisive character in the show that was never given enough to really tackle doubters, and perhaps underwhelming to her fans. So now the question becomes, is there perhaps a direction that could of been taken where Starlight could of possibly been fixed to a point where she may have worked into a more important role then she actually got that satisfies her fans that also at the same time has the backstory/information necessary to placate those skeptical of Starlight after her fast reformation?
As someone who just wrote Secret’s of the Dragon Tear where at least 7 of 32 chapters are centered around exploring something in regards to Starlight’s character and/or her family. I think I can say firmly: Yes. After writing this story, Starlight’s no longer a character I feel lukewarm/don’t care for. She quickly became… perhaps one of the biggest missed opportunities of the show. I believe now that Starlight could have been a great portion even if her turnaround was rather quick. What I did in the story I feel like provides a good baseline for not just making Starlight more sympathetic/understandable. But maybe even have it make sense that she perhaps eventually reaches an important role… even possibly becoming an Alicorn Princess in the future. Which is something of a turnaround for myself, since I would of groaned if she had been put on a path to possibly become a Princess in the show… but with what I came up with this story…. I couldn’t find it myself to stick with the idea that she only decided to stay a Principal and that’s it. Now, I’m not going to say that everything I did in the story would of had to been followed to make it work. Even just the concepts being similar or at least only a few of these being applied in some fashion could of worked to make Starlight better. So I’m going to sort of bullet point some things that come up in the story in order of which we first learn about them. Starting with…
I. Starlight’s relationship with her father/Firelight
Now obviously, Firelight is a father that loves Starlight very much. That’s obvious in the episode The Parent Map. Perhaps to the point where it’s overbearing, still calling her childish nicknames despite being grown-up. But nonetheless we can plainly see Firelight is a loving father… that said a loving father doesn’t necessarily always mean a good father. You can still have a complicated relationship with a parent that loves you. They treat you as well as you can, but perhaps they keep secrets from you. Or they’re naive to your intentions and/or what you’re doing. Even putting aside Secrets of the Dragon’s Tear for a moment, despite Firelight being so loving Starlight still became that vengeful pony that took over a town with a cult and would reboot the timeline just to get revenge on ponies for foiling her plan that she concocted all because of Sunburst’s moving away. Obviously, something went wrong if her father couldn’t have told her daughter what was right or wrong. It’s likely Firelight was just too naive to even see what his daughter was planning. Firelight should have been the first one to at least try to help Starlight out before she did anything related to that cult. But unless he was utterly complicit in Starlight’s plan, which we’re given no evidence that he was… clearly Starlight was able to hide much of her turn to darkness to her father. I have to imagine that at the very least Firelight may have had to at least see a hint of Starlight’s disgust with cutie marks, (More on that soon) But either Firelight perhaps just naively thought Starlight would eventually understand cutie marks on her own, or something about her cutie mark he knew about but he decided to attempt hiding Starlight from it as what happens in Secrets of the Dragon’s Tear.
But once again putting aside the story for a moment, it might of been interesting to learn what was Firelight’s role in Starlight’s past. Exploring that would have been an interesting direction for the show to take to give a little more depth to her backstory. Now it isn’t just that she turned to darkness because of Sunburst getting her cutie mark, but also she had a father that while he still loves her, didn’t quite inquire enough to try to stop her early on. Obviously the danger in that is telling to keep too much of a watch on your daughter to the point you helicopter them over all the time. But also it is imperative for a father to help out if their children are feeling some sort of resentment about something before it snowballs into something later. And without a mother (More on this soon as well), it’s possible to get to maybe Firelight’s side of the story in that being a single father was hard for him. On a side note we’re not even sure if Firelight is even aware of what Starlight did with the town or the time travel. That could of been an interesting thing alone to explore.
II. Starlight’s Cutie Mark
Seriously, we never got Starlight’s cutie mark story ever. That felt like one of the most important things to learn even if it was understandable why the staff didn’t want deal too much with family issues for Starlight (After all it took 7 seasons before we saw Applejack’s deceased parents, and even then they still had to go for a “Do not say death” sort of thing). It even seemed like Season 5 had like THE perfect set up for Season 6 once there was more Starlight episodes: Having the CMC who had just gotten a group talent of helping others with marks including Troubleshoes potentially being the big foreshadowing episode that would indicate the CMC would be capable of helping adults too with this seasonal villain who’s motivations were cutie marks.
But… we just never got it. It might be perhaps the biggest reason Season 6 mostly fell flat for me. Some say Season 8 is the worst season of the show and I can kind of understand why, but it feels like the School of Friendship actually does something by the end of the series that’s sort of worth it and the Student 6 were generally fun characters. While Season 6 fails at what should of been easy lay-ups from what Season 5 seemed to be setting up. It’s probably fair to say Season 6 had more interesting/quality episodes perhaps, but in terms of the general over-arching part of the series. Season 8 felt like it had a purpose while Season 6’s job was to endear Starlight to us after the Season 5 finale… and it feels like it failed at that for the most part. At least in my opinion, I know obviously Starlight had fans and still has them now and I don’t mean to stomp on any valid reasons for liking Starlight even back then for one reason or another. I just felt like I needed more to really understand Starlight’s role. And it took until writing this story and filling many of the holes left by Starlight’s part of the show to understand that Starlight had potential, she just never quite reached it I feel. And even fans of her I feel like may feel underwhelmed with what they overall did with her. Starlight telling how she got her cutie mark should of been the priority of the first two-parter if not the next Starlight episode after or at least near the end or even the Season 6 finale. But instead we never get it despite how relevant it feels like it would of been to find out.
The first priority of whenever the writer’s meeting were when they started pitching ideas for Season 6 should have made showing how Starlight got her cutie mark as the #1 priority. They reformed a villain who’s entire motivation for villainy was a friend who moved away because they got their mark. It’s almost hard to believe that the writer’s chose to ignore the entire time to the point that maybe behind closed doors for some reason Hasbro didn’t want Starlight’s cutie mark story for one reason or another. It should have been as clear as day that the next course of action was to share that story cause the idea of a pony who does’t like cutie mark but getting a make that perhaps refers to their high talent would have been interesting to be explored into. And potentially gives the CMC after getting their Cutie Marks their most important scene in the show in letting us understand Starlight’s motivations and/or how she felt about getting her cutie mark and even a better understanding of what she thinks it means and whether it’s dissonant from what it actually means or not. I hate to sound like the demanding fan, but it just should of came up before stuff like Starlight meeting Trixie, saving the world herself, all her new friendshipping episodes in Season 7, and her counseling/school episodes in 8 and 9. Those stuff had a right to happen but for some reason we just never got the single thing that felt like that was important to know.
So I definitely went to rectify it even if it’s rather simple and a little bit of a copycat since it’s similar to how Twilight got hers and kind of too convenient that the thing that would give her cutie mark was also with the book that would introduce Starlight down the path of her ideology on Cutie Marks. Though coincidental timing of Cutie Marks happen quite a bit so it wouldn’t be farfetched. But I understand if perhaps I have it a little too simple for someone who complains about the show never getting to it. But even if you feel I did Starlight’s cutie mark story wrongly. I wanted to at least give a good try at it that the show never took the steps to.
III. Starlight’s missing Mother / Sunset Shimmer’s role in Secrets of the Dragon’s Tear
Now, obviously the show would of never gone with the direction my story went with Sunset Shimmer being Starlight’s missing mother. Sunset had been already established in Equestria Girls, and even though arguably Sunset should be quite a bit older then Twilight if say she had went through the mirror sometime before Celestia discovered Twilight. Her being in high school would of made the issue of Sunset being Starlight’s mother… VERY, VERY, Awkward without having to explain complicated time discrepancies between portals to kids or more likely parents who may think the show is promoting teen motherhood. Luckily, the events of the Equestria Girls movies have never been canon to Genie Twilight’s universe outside of Genie Sci-Twi in a blog entirely about genie MLP characters in different universes meeting up. So it entirely freed up not just to give Sunset a role in this story, but plausibly old enough to be Starlight’s mother. I think of the Mane 6 of at least around 25 or so by the end of the series. So keeping in mind that in Secrets of the Dragon’s Tear. Sunset disappeared about 8 or so years before Celestia discovered Twilight and how Sunset was about Twilight’s current age at the time. If Sunset had been still alive in my story, she’d have been at least close to her 40’s. Plenty old enough to have been Starlight’s mother.
It really felt like an eureka moment in about October when I found out I could possibly link Sunset and Starlight in a way that’s feasible enough to make her Starlight’s mother. Cause it’s an entirely unique relation between the two. When Sunset and Starlight are in the same conversation or sentence. It’s often about which character is better in fan arguments (With Sunset generally being more popular since she’s probably the most well-liked thing about Equestria Girls where as Starlight has always been a source of divisiveness in the main show), the one time that Starlight appeared in an Equestria girls special, or… shipping… (Which I know anybody who reads my story is about to make every single art and/or fan fiction about Starlight and Sunset hooking up very, very, very, very, VERY, awkward). But Sunset being Starlight’s mother would at least give a plausible explanation for why Starlight’s so good at magic since she likely inherited the strong magic genes from  one of the few other ponies to catch Celestia’s attention enough to make them her protege. Plus, it’s fun to think of a family that decided to rhyme their last name, I naturally wrote that as something that Firelight proposed to Sunset. So that’s why at least in Genie Twi’s universe, you have Shimmer and Glimmer. In most Alt. universe fics involving Sunset being a family member of another known canon character it’s usually either she’s Celestia’s daughter, or Sunburst’s sister. I did have to make it so she is related to Sunburst, but she’s far too old to be a sibling to him in the story. And that’s when I decided to connect Sunset to Sunburst’s father… Sunspot… who was also coincidentally missing from The Parent Map. Though apologies to any Starburst shipping fans for sinking your ship in my story by making Starlight and Sunburst cousins all along.
But anyway, I’d even say if you look at Sunset and Firelight together you could kinda see why they could of made Starlight. I guess to be fair, it doesn’t really look like Starlight got any of Sunset’s physical traits. As appearance wise it definitely looks like she got a lot of her father, though maybe at the very least Sunset’s genes lightening up the purple into the pink/light-purple Starlight is. But I think at the very least there’s some similarities personality wise that worked such as their temper. Now, the Sunset in Secrets of the Dragon’s Tear was never a villain so they can’t relate in terms of feeling guilt for what they’ve done. But perhaps another trait they share is empathy, in that Starlight’s past experience allows her to personally talk to others as a sort of comfort that someone once felt like them about some things, which is probably at least part of the reason she’d made counselor. And as for Sunset, her whole flashback power from Legend of Everfree and onward is how she finds out motivations and is able to talk to them to understand them. And the EQG staff have even said that if Sunset had an element, it’d be the Element of Empathy. Obviously part of that is Sunset having her own experiences as a villain, but I still kind of applied it to SOTDT’s Sunset when she hears Starlight admit everything about her time travel incident where she’s at first quite disturbed that her daughter would do such an act, but hearing how the fact her death had such an impact on Starlight where there were quite a few things outside of Starlight’s hooves that if even one thing changed might of made it less likely she did what she did. And the cult thing is partly Sunset’s fault for leaving the cult book in the house (Even if she did kind of do good at hiding it by having it randomly behind a wall she couldn’t have known was ever going to be broken into) allowed her to understand the circumstances of Starlight’s life to get to that point of desperation.
As she says, it didn’t make what Starlight did justified but thanks to Starlight being able to come clean and willing to become a better pony is enough to get empathy, especially from a perspective of a mother to a child who would of likely been able to stop Starlight if she had been around. Everything Starlight did is now found out as an unfortunate circumstance from the rather bad luck she had in life in things she could not control. She couldn’t have prevented her mother’s death, her father refused to tell her who her mother was that would of probably gotten her to go to Celestia’s school had she known at the time she got her cutie mark thus reunited with Sunburst and having less of an issue with cutie marks when it would of turned out it was indicative of her potential in magic skill, but instead without a single mother figure and boredom of being alone in the house she accidentally discovers both the book that would indoctrinate her for years to eventually starting the Our Town cult and her mother’s spell book that would give her the cutie mark she received, thus begrudging her own moment of gaining her mark when it should of been a good day for her and with an overprotective father afraid of Starlight following a path he doesn’t want her to go on, for fear of Starlight going missing at some point too. It just deepens Starlight’s road to darkness. So instead Starlight’s raw power was set on a path to endanger Equestria, rather then potentially becoming at least a powerful ally if her father had allowed her to go to the school. Again, doesn’t make almost rebooting the timeline justified but at least made it more understandable why she fell so far to almost do it rather then it seemingly only be about the fact a friend moved away.
But anyway, ignoring Sunset in the story for a moment. If there was an interesting idea for Starlight’s mother it certainly would of possibly been a very interesting episode of the show. If Starlight’s mother is dead, then you have kind of have a way for Starlight to bond with Applejack over. I naturally had to have them talk about it even at the point of the story where it was still unknown who her mother was. Cause whether it was a missing or a dead mother, they both don’t have a part of their lives that their friends do. So having Starlight bond with a part of the Mane 6 other then Twilight would of certainly been interesting. Of course, if Starlight’s mother is still around. Perhaps part of Starlight’s story could of been about a messy divorce, and/or even a rather rough relationship with her mother akin to Diamond Tiara and her mother. This is of course assuming that Starlight wouldn’t have just had a normal mother that just happened to not be there for the Parent Map which might of been the way they went if they went ahead with showing who her mother was. But yes, Starlight’s mother is another part of Starlight that could of had plenty of potential to help endear her to fans. As for me… I just ended up making myself if not anybody else look awkwardly if I ever see shipping stuff between Starlight and Sunset in the future knowing that in my AU, that would be incest. Oof.
IV. Starlight as Twilight’s Student / Starlight’s Future
Now after talking about Starlight’s cutie mark and family issues. Kind of going back a little in Starlight’s first role after being reformed in becoming Twilight’s student. Naturally, this is the thing that got people worried that they were going to put Starlight on a path to become an Alicorn because naturally Twilight picking a student would have you believe that’s where things are going since that’s where Twilight ended up. Though once Season 7 rolled around, Starlight actually graduates in some fashion and is just no longer Twilight’s student. Which while it came as a relief personally, it also kind of makes the whole thing weird to just cut out Starlight’s role as Twi’s student after she was for literally only one entire season. Without the proper backstory, it just became a lose/lose situation. Either Starlight gets a role she doesn’t feel like she’s earned or her role as Student just underwhelms in comparison to the other two times we’ve seen an Alicorn teacher and a unicorn student (Whether that was Sunset which ran away from Celestia’s guidance started a spin-off series and became a well-liked character in her own right from Rainbow Rocks and onwards or Twilight naturally having earned her status over saving the world a few times and getting better at magic.) Though the former also has other problems like it’s just hard to think of how to fit Starlight in with the Princesses on her own without the proper history to back it up.
But that’s where I get back into my story, where in the epilogue. And also the post this thoughts is being linked, after having met her mother which has helped made her realize who she is. She realizes that she may have been in fact destined to be in some sort of duo with Twilight. Cause going by the timeline of events: Sunset wasn’t too far from possibly one day ascending to Princesshood, however she stepped down before then, and thus Celestia had to look elsewhere. Before she found Twilight, she concluded that perhaps Sunset’s foal (Which she noticed Sunset was probably pregnant) might inherit Sunset’s power and she can begin anew from there as it would be when that foal is grown up when her sister’s banishment would end. But in a twist, Celestia goes to Saddle Arabia and gets a dream of getting the right pony to hatch Spike’s egg. Leaving it as an exam at the school first in case there were students there that could hatch it, but if they all failed she would seek out Sunset and hope she’s willing to let whoever her child would be to try hatching the egg. But instead, Celestia discovers Twilight first. But with Starlight receiving a mark that recognizes her raw power similar to Twilight from her mother’s spell book. If she had known about her mother and/or didn’t have a grudge against cutie marks to understand what her mark means, she might have gone to the school where waiting for her would be Celestia who already had Twilight. Perhaps leading to an intense magic duel between two gifted fillies, before ultimately it’s broken up to where Celestia can’t let go of Twilight because of the dream she had. But if Celestia is aware of Starlight’s history, she would of been nice enough to keep Starlight around in respect for her former Protege, especially if Celestia had known that she was deceased or even still just missing. Thus sort of having Twilight and Starlight grow up as co-proteges under Celestia. Now from there, it’d be hard to really figure all the what ifs of Twilight and Starlight being co-students from the very beginning and whether it’d change up the whole Elements of Harmony deal. Perhaps similar to how Celestia and Luna were able to harness the Elements just being two ponies. Maybe there wouldn’t be a Mane 6 at all and Twilight & Starlight would each carry 3 of the elements. Or the Mane 6 still happen, but Starlight being the sort of junior student is not one of the Elements though she still helps however she can when Nightmare Moon returns.
But of course this is a hypothetical situation that doesn’t happen at all with many things getting in the way, but kind of thanks to the idea that Luna is retiring at the end of Season 9 too it offers a sort of opening where it seems weird that Celestia and Luna is just dropping both the Sun and Moon on Twilight’s shoulders as a sole ruler. There’s no doubt Twilight would be capable, as the Last Problem shows. But nonetheless while there was a period of 1000 years of Celestia being sole ruler after Luna was banished. It wasn’t the norm, so to go from the beginning of the sisters reign with 2, down to 1 because of banishment, back to 2, but then 1 again since both sisters were retiring may seem a bit odd. So in a scenario where perhaps Starlight feels compelled to use her strong magic for the good of Equestria alongside being able to follow in her mother’s footsteps she’d want to be the student of who’s ever going to be the reigning monarch for a long while, and while she certainly doesn’t want to force it and let Twilight decide, whether she’s a student for life or eventually is chosen to sort of be Luna’s successor in terms of being the younger Alicorn. And with Celestia and Luna both retiiring, that means falling under Twilight’s tutelage once again but a bigger scope then the one throughout Season 6. She could still be Principal even as she has the status of Twilight’s student, as we saw Twilight did plenty of things, while known as Celestia’s student. And like is pointed out, being a Principal in a school where non-ponies are allowed to attend is actually somewhat the perfect warm-up for if Starlight eventually becomes a co-ruler with Twilight. She would have basically seen what are multiple ambassadors in terms of students from other nations, their parents, or whatever guardians brings them along to attend the school.
So, it gives a legitimate reason for Starlight to perhaps become Twilight’s student once again. There’s still going to be a due diligence in Starlight learning from Twilight for a good amount of years. In fact it’s likely I won’t explicitly share the result of going back to being Twilight’s student until whenever I decide I feel it’s time for me to close down I Dream of Twilight Sparkle (I don’t know when that will be, it will probably at least go until the end of 2022 Where perhaps I’ll end it officially after what will be 10 years since the blog began. Though also may depend how G5 is). Likely for the rest of the time until then Starlight will only be a student again. I don’t think I plan on showing Starlight’s moment of ascension if it happens as I’d like to think that Twilight and Starlight both mutually agree to make sure enough time has passed and Starlight has the experience after years of being the Principal of Friendship and/or enough missions that Twilight might send her on. And while Starlight hints she’s likely not to, it’s also Twilight giving time for Starlight in case she wants to back out if say she finds herself with a feeling like her mother to instead raise a family.
Basically after going through the effort to give Starlight such a role she has in the story. It didn’t feel right to leave her as just the Principal of the School of Friendship and that’s it. Another shot at being Twilight’s student I feel makes sense in a scenario where to honor her mother’s legacy and use the magic she inherited to it’s fullest potential is to once again be a faithful student to the ruling Alicorn.
And this is a rather huge step for me since I used to just not care too much for Starlight. And some of her episodes kind of made it harder since for one or another they were sort of problematic from No Second Prances where I feel Twilight probably should of been more lenient with Trixie, To Change a Changeling where Starlight messes up but it somehow works out anyway, and then there was A Matter of Principals where Discord might have been at his most infuriating yet Starlight actually forgives him near the end. With episodes like those and with the lack of more details about Starlight’s past it’s easy to see why Starlight was divisive. Though with this story, Starlight seems to me now like a pretty mishandled character that could have worked with the right direction, but just could never meet the potential that she could of had. Obviously maybe part of it was that the staff maybe knew Starlight was sort of shoehorned so they wanted to make sure there was still plenty of space for episodes about the Mane 6 or other characters that the fans have watched since the first season, as well as whatever ideas they wanted to do for each season until they got the word that Season 9 would be the last. But even considering that it feels like it could of been plausible to replace the more slice-of-life Starlight episodes with something that explains her a little more then we got. As besides from the Season 5 finale the only things we learn about Starlight’s past is a little more of her friendship with Sunburst, where she grew up, who her father was, and she had a goth phase as a teen. If I’m missing anything else they hinted or shared about Starlight’s past let me know, but there just wasn’t a lot for a character that feels like she needed it.
I’m not saying my story is the only way for Starlight to have been fixed. But just at least mentioning some key elements that would have helped. Change a few things around of the keys I laid out even if it of course it wouldn’t be the exact same or couldn’t be the exact same for obvious reasons (Most big of all Sunset who once again despite it probably making sense that she’d be old enough in the pony world if she was grown up when she went across the mirror the first time, is still a high schooler in Equestria Girls)  and either way it certain would of helped. While I’m sure there’s probably many fanfics about it already, even something as simple as turning Starlight and Sunburst’s relationship into a shipping story (Obviously not in Genie Twi’s AU though, since they’re cousins) where Starlight reuniting with Sunburst makes her rekindle a little more then just their friendship. Where it shows that perhaps Sunburst leaving was secretly a little more then just Starlight being heartbroken about her only friend leaving. Even if that’s the only change it would of helped. So in a way, I’ve come to like Starlight Glimmer much more then I used to but kind of in a way that she’s now a disappointing character if you don’t have anything to fill in the gaps and only go by what’s shown about Starlight in the show. But when those gaps ARE filled by some sort of fanon, suddenly she can actually be quite interesting and now I have a Starlight that I feel like I can get to like and shape for myself where even if she did all the same things the show Starlight did, it at least feels to me I thought of a satisfying enough reason for why it all happened. She doesn’t have to be completely forgiven about the Time Travel thing as that’s probably her biggest sin, but the important part was that Starlight could feel shame and remorse… which gets into my last category
V. Contrasting Starlight with the Villains Post-Reformation
With Starlight no longer a villain after Season 5 and on the side of good, it will come time for her to face some villains of her own. Though the first thing she faced wasn’t exactly a villain but just some dangerous winter storm that would envelop the Crystal Empire if the Crystal Heart isn’t fixed in time. Which is understandable since that episode is generally about Starlight reuniting with Sunburst after having been told him leaving was Starlight’s motivation. They again unfortunately go too deep on that, though still least shows Starlight has some kind of almost PTSD-like feeling prior to seeing him again. It wouldn’t be until the Season 6 finale before Starlight faces her first true villain with Queen Chrysalis on a revenge plan after Canterlot Wedding. I think generally Chrysalis and Starlight was a pretty good rivalry, that lasts for the entire rest of the series even after Starlight tried to have her own moment of reforming a villain in a similar reaching-out-the-hoof fashion to her own. Only for Chrysalis to just slap it away.
Though Chrysalis is actually the only one Starlight ever gets to directly fight besides of course the big final fight where there is an entire army of ponies who attack the trio of Cozy, Chrysalis, and Tirek. Starlight only gets manipulated and trapped in the ball of magic by Cozy, Starlight is one of Sombra’s hypnotized army and in the final two-parter she gets a brief fight with Chrysalis where she’s defeated by the much more powered-up Chrysalis before she’s the first one Discord tricks Tirek into freeing to help the Mane 6 escape. Perhaps it’s another disappointment in that while it was kind of still interesting to have Starlight have this rivalry with Chrysalis. Starlight didn’t have much of a connection to the others.
And this is the point I again get to a part of my story, where I actually made Cozy Glow perhaps one of the central figures of Starlight’s past being a part of the family that are responsible for the death of her mother (Even though of course they didn’t come out unscathed since Cozy’s parents both died in that confrontation too, and Cozy was sent to the future by the unpredictable effects of Sunset firing magic with a broken horn). I’ll kind of admit it is sort of stretching things to just try to tie things together as much as possible, but Cozy Glow is a character we know even less about then Starlight. And despite being a little filly, she’s treated like this ultimate evil on the level of Tirek since she’s sent to Tartaurus. Which confuses a lot of fans who are used to this show usually reforming the villains. Which is probably why it was a good idea to actually sort of make it so that she definitely did deserve the fate she got by revealing her upbringing would make it impossible for her to be reformed. Just outing her as a complete psychopath that no friendship lessons were going to change her, as unfortunately there are people in real life that just can’t be changed and the only proper answer is some kind of justice for them that discourages others from following their path. Cozy’s just a filly, but when she’s indoctrinated by those just as psychopathic, at least in the Genie Twi AU it would take outright brainwashing.
Having Cozy have a role with Starlight’s Mother’s death also sort of makes the moment Cozy seeks counsel from Starlight with more hidden sinister background to it all. It’s partly Cozy’s fault Starlight ended up doing what she did since after manipulating Sunset into believing she’s not like her parents, she drops a rock that breaks Sunset’s horn, nerfing Sunset’s ability to do much against Cozy and her mother. Cozy gets some form of comeuppance in that she gets the ultimate bad luck in being sent through time by Sunset’s blast, but injuring Sunset’s horn allows Cozy’s mother to grab Sunset and put them in a suicidal free-fall that’ll kill them both since she doesn’t have the wing power to save herself and Sunset would have to hope she’s lucky enough with her injured horn. Resulting instead of both getting exploded after Cozy’s mother tries covering the hole of Sunset’s broken horn before they even hit the water. Though Cozy is likely sent conveniently at around Season 8’s time chronologically where she probably somewhere caught wind of the School of Friendship and started her manipulation on the CMC and of course Starlight. We’re also never given an explanation for how Cozy knew what she would do would happen in the Season 8 finale except I guess we have to assume that in canon it was something she learned from Tirek. But in the Genie Twi AU, it’s also a plan that her parents wanted to do and what Sunset aimed to stop before she retired for good. As we shouldn’t forget that removing the magic from Equestria is still a devastating move, we can debate that Starlight’s time travel is arguably worse and in some ways I’d even agree with that but nonetheless has a huge impact. And in a story where it’s states that all life is Magic too through their souls, that doesn’t just make Cozy a power-crazy psychopath but a GENOCIDAL psychopath.
Cozy’s magic sucking thing can’t actually suck in soul magic since otherwise Cozy herself would fall under her own plan most likely, but without usable magic the world would quickly become unhappy and dark magic would spread everywhere. I even made it so it’s particularly related to Starlight by implying that the wasteland we saw in the Season 5 finale was if Cozy succeeded. Obviously Cozy hadn’t been met at the time of that but given we saw the futures where Chrysalis, and Tirek won. Even if at the time Cozy didn’t exist conceptually, it was the perfect thing to apply to tie Cozy into the overall arch of the series. And while Sunset sending Cozy to the future just before Season 8 may be a little forceful in trying to tie things together it does result in the idea that time travel really messes up Starlight’s life in how it brings her unknowingly face to face with one of her mother’s murderers and how she’d end up using it in her most infamous scheme. I doubt Cozy in the Genie Twi AU knew for sure that Starlight was Sunset’s daughter but it does still sort of retroactively make any meeting between Starlight and Cozy in Season 8 more sinister and/or tragic with Cozy almost sending Starlight away with wherever all that magic was going to go in the Season 8 Finale. But if Cozy were to ever escape from being in stone and found out, she’d no doubt flaunt her role in ruining Starlight’s early life. The lengths of which psychopathic people go to torture the people who get in their way knows no bounds. Cozy’s effect on Starlight’s life implied in Secrets of Dragon’s Tear making her overall the central figure responsible for what Starlight ended up doing. Cozy and her parents confrontation with Starlight’s mother caused her death and in a fashion where no pony would know what happened thus causing the domino effect of Starlight’s fall into darkness and delaying her finding her destiny of being in a duo with Twilight.
Thus many of the events of Seasons 5-7 in the Genie Twi AU are now retroactively because of Cozy’s actions, giving her a much broader effect and really outs her as actually among the most evil the ponies have ever come across even though (Alicorn ascension aside in the final two-parter) she’s really not that strong herself compared to the likes of Chrysalis and Tirek. It’s even implied that if the trio had won, there would of likely been a situation eventually where Tirek and Chrysalis would have to team-up together to fight Cozy. In a bleak situation where any remaining ponies would likely have to side with Tirek and Chrysalis for the best shot at taking Cozy down. These revelations bubble up the anger in Starlight so much, she almost decides to kill Cozy despite having been told that killing the villains is a bad idea. As for at least a brief moment, she falls under a little more darkness just because it was Cozy’s fault she fell into darkness in the first place. Twilight and Sunset manage to prevent her from doing so, but it makes Cozy more central to Starlight’s life then Chrysalis. With the benefit of both Starlight and Cozy getting an upgrade of the overall part of the timeline then they ever had in the show.
VI. Conclusion
If I may to back a bit to the teacher/student thing with Twilight. It sort of makes it that Seasons 1 through Season 4 is the tale of Twilight’s rise to becoming the Princess of Friendship. Season 5 is this transition period where it gives some of the aftermath of Twilight’s rise while introducing Starlight who does some awful things for a seemingly weak reason but actually hid something a bit deeper. While Seasons 6 through 9 if you include the events of Secrets of the Dragon’s Tear into the timeline into Starlight’s portion of her own even if that includes a few oddities related to the show’s handling of Starlight having to return to being Twilight’s student, and nothing much of importance happening aside from becoming Principal of the School of Friendship with Starlight until after the events depicted in the show. I would say that if much of the stuff that is revealed in the story was at all canon it probably would of come up sooner then they actually did so I understand that if there’s any criticism’s of the story in trying to tie things together too much is including stuff that perhaps characters would of certainly talked about them sooner then they actually did. Though to be fair much of the subject matter is something a little too dark for the show after all again it took 7 seasons before we got to see who Applejack’s deceased parents were and even then they had to kind of skate around the fact by not saying how they died, they still did a masterful way of sort of implying they were deceased without telling us how in The Perfect Pear. I’m sure that if some of my stuff hypothetically was vetted by Hasbro execs they would outright reject the whole part of Cozy Glow role in the death of Starlight’s Mother (Whether it was or was not Sunset). But as is I feel like I did a decent job at fitting in much of the lore previously established that’s exclusive to the blog with answerig many questions that were left unanswered after the show. Starlight in particular I’m glad I was sort of able to turn into a character I previously didn’t care too much about, into a pony I could root for even if that’s kind of cheating since I wrote her myself in the new direction  I had many reasons for wanting to write this story, bud I was just super surprised at just how invested I got into expanding Starlight’s part when I was steadily always having concepts thinking about when I’d eventually write in this story expecting to be mainly finally giving the Dragon’s Tear more of a purpose then just the miracle item that saves Spike and the others in Return to Saddle Arabia. I really went ambitious with this story to include as many characters as I wanted including each of the Mane 6, Starlight, and the Saddle Arabian OCs each having their own chapters that provide a direction I think they could go for after the events of the final two-parter.
Obviously Twilight and Spike still generally have the biggest portion of the story especially after the Spirit summoning gets introduced since it couldn’t happen without Spike at that current moment but Applejack also has a pretty large role in the story in that she has that heartbreaking meeting with Grand Pear at the end of Chapter 2, invites 2 of the 5 performances at the ball, somewhat debates with Twilight about the dream, bonds with Starlight over having no representation in the club of mothers meeting at the ball, and then finally having a dramatic moment to seeing her parents again and introducing her friends to them. Which then sets up a more quick way of convincing others that this spirit summoning stuff is real being she’s the element of Honesty. Twilight and Spike learning about how their paths became entwined, Starlight finding her mother who’s very identity also held the keys to her destiny, and Applejack’s lamenting the lack of her parents but eventually seeing them are perhaps the big 3 parts of the story and I’ve sort of proud of the way I sort of entwined them all together with the Spirit Summoning part which could potentially have some interesting ideas that could be explored upon with enough asks afterward. With the show over, there’s no more main source to respond to at least until G5 starts but this certainly could help not just bridge the gap till’ then but have a sort of interpretation of the events of Friendship is Magic in a unique way that I hope others enjoy. I certainly had fun writing it, and there’s enough left open to still continue on as the sprite comics return. I even went ahead on improving the Starlight sprite that I admit I sort of half-assed before, along with sprites for Sunset along with Pear Butter & Bright Mac. Jinn as well too! Thanks to anyone who read the story and/or read my thoughts out here. Seeya!

Card Shark 111: Tough Questions
...and an announcement!
Greetings, my CCG-playing friends! Welcome back to Card Shark! Before I start the Shark today, I wanted to reveal some exciting CCG-related news: starting mid-September, I will be participating in Meticulous Talks’ Invitational Tournament of Champions! I’ll be clashing with and alongside some of the most successful MLP:CCG players in virtual CCG battles for the ages, and I can’t thank the folks at Meticulous Talks enough for inviting me. Dates where y’all can catch me are TBD - for more info on the tournament, you can check out the Reddit announcement right here!
...that being said, what does one run for a tournament such as this? Do you go for something tried and true (but still legal)? Or do you find an annoying niche like Thorax Mane/UR Novo/Meadowbrook’s Mask and run with that? These are all serious ponderings... that today’s Shark just happens to look at, though not in the same sense. It’s time to take a look at Friends Forever’s “Tough Questions!”
It’s a good thing the details of this card are certain. This is a Rare Blue/White Event that costs 2 AT, 2 Blue req, and 2 White req to play during your Main Phase. During your Main Phase, playing the Event triggers a Faceoff between one of your characters (that could be a Mane or Friend) and an opposing Friend or Troublemaker. Lose the Faceoff? Nothing happens (except you lose AT). Win the Faceoff? That opposing Friend or Troublemaker is banished. I don’t know about you, but I think that is a super nice range! Paying 2 AT with relatively low color req to banish something in this manner is great if you believe you can win the Faceoff. Most cards that can banish Friends so freely (as in, have no requirement as to power levels or cost) tend to be pretty costly AT-wise (Old Money, Particular Socialite, Queen Chrysalis, Evil Twin, etc.) or require a minimum of three types of color req (It’s Time to Be Awesome, Friendship U, etc). This card is, in my eyes, one of the few exceptions. As for banishing Troublemakers? I can name even fewer of those! Most cards focus on challenging Troublemakers during phases that aren’t the Troublemaker Phase or just dismissing them when defeating them is a harder option. But banishing in this way ensures that your opponent cannot get that Troublemaker back for the rest of the game (namely with a certain card called Grogar, Legion of Doom/Father of Monsters), while also nicely keeping it out of your way. Sure, the Faceoff could be considered an additional cost like the examples I’ve listed. But since you control the majority of the Faceoff, choosing both cards that, well, face off, they’re some of the easiest Faceoffs to win. (Unless you’re using Queen Novo, Benevolent Ruler, of course... but that’s a Shark for another day.) The answer is clear: this card can be both generous and loyal to your cause.
Now where were we with the actual “tough” part? There’s a couple things going on here that may hurt you in the long run. First, as with all Faceoffs, there is the chance you’ll lose it. Losing a Tough Questions Faceoff really doesn’t hurt you in any way like other cards that force Faceoffs such as Poetry Slam or Nightmare Moon, Blackest Night - you just waste 2 AT (which, despite me always saying every AT counts, might not be as bad as it sounds if you’re running cards like Rainbowshine, Gift Giver or even a certain new Set 12/New Dawn card) and your Event is discarded. This all could potentially be less significant, however, since I’ve already established that if you can control enough factors in the Faceoff, it can be easy for you to win. Second, believe it or not, there are quite a few ways to get around an Event like this, and I don’t just mean by having you lose the Faceoff. To give a few examples: Octavia, Harmony and Dissonance (which, fun fact, was one of the first Card Sharks, written while I was still working out all the kinks of the column) can cancel opposing Events, halting a Faceoff and keeping a potentially banished Friend or Troublemaker in play. Brian, One Swell Guy, can be retired in the place of another Friend that would be dismissed, moved, or banished. (Yes, the little guy prevents your Friends from being sent to the moon! He doesn’t just dismiss Resources!) He can’t protect Troublemakers, but the simple fact he can save Friends from being banished already makes him an unexpected force to be reckoned with. There’s even cards like Ember, My Way or the Highway that a player can exhaust to just stop a Faceoff. No winners, no losers, no Friends or Troublemakers going to the moon. All your prep to guarantee a surefire win in the Faceoff may be for naught with the simplest of things. Of course, everyone’s a critic - just be careful when you lay down your criticism.
Here’s a few more cards that float around in space distributing wings:
*Daybreaker, Blinding Light. If you have one of these in play and you don’t choose it during a forced Faceoff, either you have a super sinister techy plan or you forgot you had this in play. Daybreaker ADORES Faceoffs with her Competitive 3 (giving her 6 power during Faceoffs involving her) and her ability to score you a point when you win a Faceoff involving her. 6 power is a beast by itself, but the idea of scoring an additional point just by playing an Event and controlling almost all the details of the subsequent Faceoff? Feels good, man. If you want a similar alternate to use in this scenario, Scootaloo, Most Creative makes a decent substitute with her 4 Blue/White power, Prepared, and ability to score you an extra point.
*Autumn Blaze, Chatterbox AND/OR Spooky Ruins. I list both these cards and their similar effects here since they can be used in potentially different circumstances. Chatterbox forces opponents to flip one fewer card during Faceoffs with any characters with 4 or more power. If you’re targeting an opposing Friend with at least 4 power - and are forcing that opposing Friend to fight a character like Daybreaker, Blinding Light or Scootaloo, Most Creative - it’s almost a surefire guarantee that the unlucky Friend is getting banished. Spooky Ruins simply forces opponents to flip one fewer card during all Faceoffs. What Spooky Ruins has that Autumn Blaze doesn’t have to worry about, however, is the threat of Resource removal - and Spooky Ruins, in my experience, is a very frequent target of it. I think both cards could be valuable alongside Tough Questions - hence they are both listed here.
*A Wrinkle in Time. Yes, it’s another Event to go with that first Event! This is one of my favorite Defenders of Equestria Events that I wish I had more reason to use. During a Faceoff, when your opponent flips something you don’t like, you can wrinkle them up and banish that flipped card! They then not only lose that card, but lose that power for the Faceoff and cannot flip another card unless they have a card that allows them to like Applejack, Carbo-Loader, Barrel Through, or Power Play. This is a good card to have when your opponent can control what they flip, especially during a Faceoff such as this where it’s a Friend or Troublemaker they really want to keep and will do what they can to keep them. Plus, wrinkly Rarity brings me a weird joy that I can’t explain. >:)
Thanks for reading another edition of Card Shark! I’m returning to my coverage of New Dawn next week that, so far, may be the craziest card I’ve seen come out of the set. How is it not a Super or Ultra Rare?! If spoilers are your thing, make sure you tune in next week to see my latest crazy column! Diamond out!

Rainbow Factory: Escape chapter (??/??)
“What? What?” Rainbow Dust declared in his impersonation of a baffled old granny mare.
“Yeah!” Snails joined in, “Tell us another story”
It took Cheerilee a couple moments and a classic teacher counting diversion to get the class on track and keep them from rioting.
Rainbow Dust had a twinkle in his eye and another winning smirk. “No. Stop. Agh. I want to go to work.”
Apple Bloom piped up, “Ah, horsefeathers. (“Language!” Cheerilee admonished.) Ahm sorry, Ms. Cheerilee, but,” she sat up and put her hooves up, “t’ain’t no way he would wanna go back ta workin’ insteada hangin’ out with us,” she focused her classic puppy-dog stare on Rainbow Dust, “wouldn’t’ya?”
At that Rainbow Dust just gave a reserved grin and a not unkind look to the little yellow-and-redhead. “Well, I guess I can answer a couple of questions from my Wonder group before I fly off…” Cheerilee agreed, and the class went into a cheer before calmly sitting back down.
“Okay, who’s first?”
About everyone’s hoof was in the air.
Scootaloo’s was waving more energetically than anyone else’s.
“Alright… you, there, sir!” He pointed.
“Yay!” It was Snips, who asked a question and got an answer that Scootaloo didn’t hear, waiting for the best moment to raise her hoof first.
Rainbow Dust took a look out the window at the sun’s direction.
Cheerilee made a little moue of shock, while Diamond Tiara was still sniggering. Rainbow Dust hovered over and gave the little pegasus a little boop on the nose. “Now, that’s a trade secret, little lady! I couldn’t say, or I might get fired (“Aww…..”). But don’t be discouraged! Work hard and pass your flight exam, and you can work for our wonderful feathermilitary Factory too! I’m counting on you, chief!” and he meant it!
“Well, that’s about it for today… and yer takes what yer gets!” he added to the increasing pleading.
“Say thanks to our guest speaker today, class!”
“THANK YOU!” they shouted, twice as loud now.
“This is what keeps me going in this job,” Rainbow Dust admitted to Cheerilee with a warm, peaceful smile.
“I know just what you mean,” Cheerilee confessed, “My cousin’s works in the Rainbow Factory, as a… well, I get it.”
“I gotta get going. I’ll go grab my stuff.” He pranced out of the room with a glimmer in his eye and a shine dancing through his teeth. “How does he do that?!” Sweetie Belle pouted. “Waren’t ya listenin’? MAGIC RAINBOWS!” Apple Bloom responded. Scootaloo was engrossed in a day-dream of her being the most awesome Rainbow Pourer who was so good she made an eighth color appear in the rainbows and was made into the owner, so she didn’t say anything.
“Alright class, break for lunch!”

Do you except mlp characters because scootaloo is disabled in her wings and they never grew at the end of the show
Hi,
Firstly, thank you for your question! Yes MLP characters are more than welcome on this blog, and in fact I just queued Stellar Eclipse!
As for Scootaloo, it's a little more complicated. Whenever this blog receives an ask or a submission the mods do some research to make sure that the disability is both canon and treated respectfully.
In doing research about this pony in particular, I couldn't find any conclusive canonical proof that her inability to fly is a disability as opposed to her being "a late bloomer".
That being said, I am not a member of this fandom, nor have I ever seen the show, and I am basing this off a google search. If you have a link where the creators say that she is disabled, please send it in and we will reconsider!
Thanks again for the submission! I found Stellar Eclipse through my research for Scootaloo, and I never would have found him without you!
