If borderline personality disorder is extremely rare, why is there more representation of it than there is of SchizoidPD and SchizotypalPD combined? I’ve heard far more about BPD being rare compared to SCPD and STPD. Doing research on them is near impossible. Especially with Schizoid personality disorder, I can find just about no information on and it’s a little frustrating. I’m trying my hardest to learn about it but I can’t because there’s so little representation and information, it’s extremely discouraging.

Just a rant about something that has been floating around my head for a little over a week now:

I think I’m autistic.

I don’t want to put this label on myself yet, though, without a proper diagnosis. I understand it can be insulting to neurodivergent people to self-diagnose. I just... highly suspect it.

I’ve always related to these positivity posts when they landed on my dash. Reblogged them for other neurodivergent people to spread the positivity, but I also always related to them. I didn’t think anything of it. And I don’t really know what lead me to really suspect my own neurodivergency now, but ...

I was watching a lot of these TED Talks by autistic people. Especially autistic women. And it was like these people were telling my life story.

And I keep watching more and more and I keep seeing myself in these people. I heard things that I can relate to a little bit, but also things that were... the exact same in my life.

I was diagnosed with socialphobia as a teen. I don’t think this is correct. Yes I am nervous around people, around new people or big groups of people. The nurse literally asked me if it was as if I put a mask on when I’m outside and I said yes. Masking. I’m masking.

I’ve been diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder. Which it states IN THE DOCUMENT I GOT FOR IT THAT IT IS OFTEN MIXED UP WITH ASPERGERS. But when I got that diagnosis I still had no real clear picture of what autism really is, so I accepted the diagnosis for SchizoidPD. But I have been thinking about it a lot and I think this is also wrong. Schizoid people apparently cannot feel emotions. I can feel emotions, but I can’t always tell which ones they are or am bad at expressing these emotions which can give me a flat affect.

Thinking back, many things would make sense if it turns out that I really am autistic.

I also... took a few of these online tests. And of course I shouldn’t take these too serious because you can’t determine this via just a little test with some funny questions... but the fact that I scored a “autism likely” in all of them so far makes me think. I also encountered an aspie youtuber who makes amazing and interesting videos with much more common asperger/autism experiences. One of this video were 25 questions and I could answer almost all of them with yes. 23/25.

I really want to get properly tested. I already looked for a specialized clinic that could do that and there is even one not too far away. I will try it first at the psychotherapist centrum, but if they decline doing one then I will just go to the specialized autism clinic. Their website also explained that it can be diagnosed very late in life, so I’m sure they won’t decline me...

About a year ago I already told my neuro about my suspicion, but he said he can tell that I’m not autistic by just looking at me, and that autistic people don’t question themselves why they are so different to other people. Which, I know now, is absolute bullshit. (but back then I didn’t know this much and believed him)

I feel like I already know for sure. But having actual proof is always better.
