Hello!

I love this, but unfortunately no the pegasi in the SC world started out as equines before the chasms opened up (a "The Great Flood" style planetary cataclysm. More reading on that at the link). Birds & reptiles co-exist/exist in their own branches of the evolutionary tree.

According to the lore of the people, God took mercy on man after the cataclysm and "gifted" them with pegasi. That is, the horses that existed gained wings through evolution (guided or not, depending on who you talk to in the Windy Wing Basin) to survive in the new fractured world. Man was then able to tame them like they had tamed the horses before civilization was devastated.

A little far-fetched, sure, but that's the main fantasy element of the world :)

SO! Definitely will be having more tracks for this AU coming down the line, updates included, but let's be real folks. This is DEFINITELY the track a lot of you were looking forward to the most (especially in my SC audience.) Well, thanks to Nick's incredible talents, it's now a reality at long last -- and at a really convenient time too! Not only is the OST account on SC close to breaching 50 followers -- thank you all for your support by the way! -- but A Hat In Time, one of the two games this AU is based around, will be 5 years old on October 5th!! So ye, consider the timing of this release an early treat for both occasions! ;) Anyhow, I'm incredibly pleased with how the track turned out. There was a somewhat different idea pitched initially (hence why the Adventure's End sample is there,) but Nick took the notes and ran with them in a MUCH better direction for the piece, while still being fitting for what I had in mind for the AU. It was really nice working with Nick, and I'll definitely be using his services again, should they be available. Anyhow, I hope you guys enjoy the track! (P.S. Just a quick note: I put together the motif list for this post using notes I sent Nick, so it might be slightly inaccurate on my part.)

Bow Kid is still Frisk... but that hardly matters anymore. The bright and cheerful, yet nervous Bow that first landed on the planet is gone. Her original desire of going home has long been forgotten, and only one goal drives this emotionless shell of her former self forward: finish what she started. Hat Kid takes Sans' place. With Bow's killing spree pushing everything to the brink, Hat Kid realizes that she just can’t stand back and watch time and space be torn asunder. As much as she doesn't want to do it deep down, she signs a new contract with Snatcher, selling her soul in exchange for WAY more power. Harriet is deadset on protecting what's left of this timeline and correcting the cataclysm Bow Kid caused, not wanting a repeat of her failure to with Mustache Girl before, and she doesn't care how much of herself she has to give up to accomplish this goal. Snatcher is in a (heavily expanded) Napstablook role. Given that you have killed off everyone that Snatcher could have possibly roped into working for him, and maybe a part of him that he won't acknowledge caring for Hat Kid, he offers his "contractually obligated BFF" direct assistance in addition to the power boost. As far as he's concerned now, Bow's contract expired a long time ago, and it's time to make her head pop off like all the other contractors before her.

Did you hear about the black hole leaving a trail of new stars behind it? Tumblr won't let me send a link, but it should be the most recent news story on Hubblesite. Anyways, it got me wondering how something like that would be mythologized in SC, what the theological or superstitious explanations would be - or who'd pointedly ignore it for being inconvenient to doctrine

ooooooOOOOOOOOOH. So first of all: that’s dope I love space. Thank you for bringing it to my attention :D

I’ll come at this first of all from the perspective of our own de facto chief priestess of the rebellion (Lux), who with her mix of Ashtivan and Cosmonist (and Atennui by marriage) influences would probably see it as a reminder that creation is inherent in destruction and vice versa. Ashtivan thought tended to see their versions of the Cosmic Lovers (Orellistia and Levinoxia, called Sungtivsish and Nàntivesh in their languages) as more of a yin-yang, inseparable and interwoven, and they also thought of Levinoxia as a Mother rather than a maiden, so I imagine they’d be likely to mythologize new stars born in the wake of a black hole as her children, to be adopted into the shared colony by Orellistia and the rest of the goddesses.

The school of Cosmonism most likely to deny this outright is hard-line Hyperian-era Licentiati doctrine, which IS heavily invested in a matter/void duality. I could see local independent Destigravitationist leaders portraying it as a miraculous triumph of one over the other, even taking personal credit for it, but the Licentiati and the Empress are understood as regarding them as all a little kooky. They support the regime so the Licentiati have to put up with them but every time a destgravitationist reports some weird thing she saw en route to her third faith healing session in Ovaiakon as a miracle/sign of impending cataclysm they sigh heavily and draft another mass letter to local temples about the importance of religious unity (which is always code for “get with the program”).

Old-time pre-Hyperian popular Cosmonism was less of a monolith because unlike the Ashtivans its various groups weren’t (aren’t) in communication with one another so they don’t develop these broad popular consenses (is that a word? “Consensuses” can’t be it) but I immediately imagine them devising something VERY cute out of the common scriptural folklore that Luca, the goddess of light, is Levinoxia’s favorite daughter who she’s constantly doting on and spoiling and being a pushover for. “Can we get a star here sennami please 🥺 ???” “Oh…alright…💕” Before the Praeceptorate had as much means for mass communication with their faithful, mythological concepts of the goddesses tended to be very humanizing and often funny, especially among spacefarers’ traditions—sort of like how medieval miracle plays had comedic tropes about Mary and Joseph or different saints that they’d often come back to.

So that’s an inexhaustive list of Cosmonist/Cosmonist-adjacent interpretations off the top of my head. There would probably be many more tbh!

i don't think i like the presentation of rem's iconic speech. there's no context shown for it, i was scared luida was gonna take it, but here its just loosely connected. in fact, i don't think it really matches at all. originally it was about rem and vash wanting to die, they argue you have something to live for, and vash uses it to be hopeful and say people can change even when they've done bad. here it gives off the impression that vash can live to be useful to the humans, therefore he'll finally earn their respect (which is bad lol). even if its related to vash's apparent guilt of knives being able to drop everyone from the sky, its not clear enough. the audience doesnt know the context

Comet’s encounter went pretty smoothly, aside from them playing cat and mouse since Comet has severe trust issues, Sun and Moon’s 8 ft frame made it hard for them to navigate through the sewers

Since this has become a tradition at this point, even though I kinda didn’t want to do one of these, I figured what the hell?  Might as well get my thoughts out.

This year was…ehh.  I don’t know.  It felt kinda like a slough to get through most days.  I just did not want to write, I wanted to go hang out with the girls and hubby, or wanted to lay and relax and watch YouTube or something.  A lot of the time, I forced myself to write, because I didn’t want to, you know, screw up my streak.  There was something about seeing ‘this is your 16th NaNoWriMo’ on the page with the winner’s stuff that kinda got to me.

I think, at least partially, this was because I had chosen Earthia to go along with @callistochan87's Celestial Souls, and then found out on the first day that she hadn’t intended to actually do NaNo this year.  Like, what the eff?  I could have done Division!  Last year was so much fun writing Cataclysm!  (Basically, my muse was split between the two stories, flipping back and forth, and CS was the deciding factor, not the actual reason I did Earthia.)  There was also the fact that I had so much planned that just…didn’t pan out.  I was going to feature Mickel and Gabby’s families more.  Hell, I was going to feature Gabby more.  Gaius straight up disappeared at one point.

It felt like November flew by last year, and this year, just…yeah.  I do have to say that I am super proud of myself for writing every single day so I had no twofers to write.  Mostly because that woulda been rather hard with having the girls and a mother-in-law who wants to go out, like, all the time.  >.<  I was gonna start early, give myself a buffer.  Because I had a dentist appointment on the 16th, and I wasn’t sure if somehow, I would end up working that day or not.  Plus, I wasn’t sure how Thanksgiving was going to work.  But then I just couldn’t be bothered to, and started the first, like I was supposed to, and somehow, everything worked out?

As much as I hated the process this year, and how much I thought I was going to hate the finished product, I was thinking about it this morning, and…I don’t?  Like, I’m actually proud of what I wrote?  Sure, it wasn’t Division, and sure, Kai rambled at lot, but the actual story isn’t terribad?  I mean, it is, because I always felt like Earthia has no real point, but eh.

I think the problem was that I’ve written Earthia so many freaking times now that the plot is boring to me.  Sure, this very has them older and whatnot, and that was fun, allowing them to have adultish conversations and whatnot.  But it’s still the same plot.  The same basic things happen – they get taken to Aethos, Mickel gets ‘locked up’ because they discover he’s an alien but then gets released, they spend time in Helios before some sort of attack and then they are sent to Nereus to meet Dylan’s family, and then they go to Aeolus where they discover Kai and Dev’s mother, they spent time with her and then Aeolus is attacked, Dylan, Kai, and Mickel get captured and then rescued, and at the end, Dev, Kai, and Gabby get sent back to Earth.

Yes, that was long winded, but you get the point.

I tried to change things up a little, like adding Omega as a major player early on.  But I had little room for Ta’lia and Gaius and Dr. Stravos, and I’m not sure how I feel about shoving them to the wayside for a character who just popped up recently.  Ah well.

I am kinda looked forward to Cosmic Dreamers.  I’ve written that one before, but not as often as Star Children.  I’m hoping to take some of the ideas I had to SC and putting them in CD.  Most importantly, actually introducing Malise and Strife.  Like, Malise was in it, but not personally mentioned, so…yeah. 

I feel like the story needs heavy editing for me to really like it, but that’s fine!  It’s finished, and that’s all the really matters in the end.

All I know is that next year, unless I have yet another random dream right before NaNo that I have to do, I am definitely doing Division, and not doing sister stories.  And my other stories need attention to, so maybe I’ll be done with Earthia for a while.  ^^;  (My true hope is to write in between NaNos, maybe so Camp again, but…eh, probably not, lol.)
