Not dog related but have you been to Kuopio? My wife and I are planning to move there in a few years and I’m just curious what your thoughts might be as someone who actually lives in Finland. Also do you enjoy a cold dip after sauna or is that not really your thing?

I used to live in Kuopio! Spent my early childhood there. I still visit several times a year, it's one of those home-away-from-home places for me.

I don't enjoy cold, I rarely swim and I barely ever go to sauna (it always makes me feel sort of light-headed), so not my thing really :'> But if you think you might enjoy, like, the temperature shock and the adrenaline rush go for it.

#answered #ephemeralprince #I was a preschooler when we moved out and haven't lived there since so I can't really give any tips on what to do #I recommend the Kuopio museum though! it has a good natural history collection if you don't mind taxidermy #and a lifesize mammoth replica that traumatized my baby brother back in the day #I'm generalizing of course but Kuopio is probably pretty easy town to move to by Finnish standards #people are likely to speak English #and folks from Savo are typically considered to be reasonably social and chatty compared to some other regions

I’m ngl as much as I love the characters of the college of Winterhold I kind of wish Savos Aren was the villain and Ancano wasn’t. Like Savos Aren’s backstory feels perfect for a tragic antagonist and Ancano to me doesn’t,,,have much depth to him? I like headcanons of the Thalmor finding him annoying af and marking him as an outcast, but unfortunately none of that is confirmed canon. Ancano just feels evil because he’s Thalmor, not because of anything else deeper than that. Would be nice if he were still a racist dick but was genuinely trying to make the college better while Savos (whatever his motives would be) was the villain of the questline

Dragons are attracted to large, unnatural stone structures, especially when they have curves and arches, and especially when high up. For this reason, ancient nords built their cities and temples with excessive stone arches and flying buttresses (to say nothing of word walls, with large dovahzul writing) to invite dragons to visit. Care was also paid to ensure that this architecture would support multiple dragons worth of weight, and would survive erosion for as long as possible.

In 4th era, the College of Winterhold is a very appealing spot for resurrected dragons, with it's stone ring of tall arches, it's strange twisting geological base, and it's great height relative to the sea of ghost and the nearby town.

Unfortunately, instead of being greeted by friendly dragon priests ready to sing their praises (or a word wall with interesting information about the history of the area), dragons instead discover the college abuzz with angry mages, blasting up at them with expert level destruction spells. Additionally, if dragons attempt to roost on the building to gather their strength, they often find footholds crumbling between their talons, due to Savos Aren's mismanagement of the building's upkeep. The dragonborn is also often present, which is just a nightmare in general.

All of this comes together to make the College function similar to a gigantic bug-zapper, complete with dragon corpses littering the sand and water immediately below. It's extremely sad.
