Oh wahhh Thank you Sage!! that means so much to me!

I've been working on this AU for technically two years! But I only recently actually overhauled it and worked out a plot and finalised character designs! A LOT of enabling was involved in creating this AU I'm not going to lie </3

As for what inspired me to make the AU, it started with an Linked Universe Mythology AU, actually. I had so many ideas on how I wanted things to go, characters I wanted to add (read; Spirit Tracks Link </3) and designs I had fun doing that I was eventually like "fuck it" and made it it's own thing! Thinking back, haha, I'm pretty sure that old AU was just a Modern Links Meet lite </3

As for why I got rid of that aspect coming in, is because I thought fusing different Zelda monsters would be WAY more fun. Turns out, it is! embarrassed by how many concepts I have for future Creechures in my concepts folder

When the doorbell rings 'round eleven the next morning, Rafe stumbles to the door, a half-empty glass of amber whiskey in one hand. He's a mess, shirt untucked and tie undone, slacks wrinkled and the red mark on his cheek screaming I fell asleep at the bar.

"Wh-- What d'you want?" He slurs at the person, who turns. It's a delivery girl, her ponytail pulled out the back of her hat and a clipboard atop a package in her arms.

"Are you Rafe Cameron?" She asks. She looks familiar, but Rafe can't place her.

"Yeah..." He eyes her suspiciously. "I didn't order shit."

"Oh, I know," The girl says cheerfully, holding out the clipboard. "Sign on that bottom line, please."

Rafe stares at the clipboard skeptically before doing as she says. The girl trades him back for the box.

"You're all set!" She says with a smile.

"Wait, hey--" Rafe stumbles to the side, gripping the box tightly. "You look... I know you."

The girl's face seems to whiten, then color returns and she shakes her head. "Don't think so."

"Yeah, no, yeah, I do. Uh--"

"I don't know you," She says, backing down the stairs.

A click, a bridge--

"Sage? Y-You're Sage. The fuck are you doing here? Did John B send you?" He steps onto the porch, lunging for Sage poorly, and she sidesteps, running back to her van. "Don't fuckin' run from me!"

Rafe trips back up the stairs, kneeling on the floor and grabbing the box, ripping it open.

It's a photo of him and Kie putting Ruby in the car and a note that reads 'You won't get away with this.'

OKAY FINAL THOUGHTS: god this was so much fun! i know others have already said it but SONIC IS BACK BABY!!! i love all the characters arcs flynn gave tails, knuckles, and amy. i love sonic's interactions with all of his friends. and sage, my god she's already become a fave of mine. she's such an interesting and tragic character. she may be a digital girl but she's still a child and all she wanted was to be loved. and she sacrificed herself in the end. and eggman did care about her, in his own way as sonic said. god the wait was certainly worth it.
