POKEMON SERIES RANKED (IMO)
I get this question a lot and haven't made an updated list with Journeys
Original Series (S1-S5)
Sun & Moon (S20-S22)
Chronicles (S0)
Diamond and Pearl (S10-S13)
Advanced (S6-S9)
Journeys (S23-S25)
Black & White (S14-S16)
XY (S17-S19)
Original Series (S1-S5)
OS had that first season charm. Very unpolished, still finding its footing but super enjoyable for those reasons
Probably the strongest series comedy-wise
That GORGEOUS 90s anime style
Main character dynamics were REALLY strong
Ash's personality felt much more like a shitty little 10 year old which was entertaining
Dub writing was also the best hands down
Sun & Moon (S20-S22)
Honestly tied for first with OS for me
REALLY fun ensemble cast! They do a fantastic job giving each character enough time for you to get to know and care about
Excellent modern anime style that perfectly fit the vibe of the season and allowed for some of the best character animation of the show's run
Finally figured out how to write Ash like a 10 year old again (but in a kind/sweet 10 year old way as opposed to OS)
Very different from previous series in terms of the formula they'd follow. Doing a school series instead of another "8 badges to championship" plot felt new and fresh!
This series genuinely made me cry the most (MEMORIES IN THE MIST!!!!! LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME)
Chronicles (S0)
Fun concept! It was really nice to see more of the side characters without Ash there. We get to see more of Misty, Tracey, Daisy, Brock, Ritchie, Oak, Delia, Butch, Cassidy, Jessie, James and Meowth!
Stylistically really nice. Just solid drawings all around and it retained the 90s anime style in digital form more successfully than other digitally done series imo
BUTCH AND CASSIDY!!! Team Rocket centric episodes!!! Training Daze!!!!!!!
Idk how possible it would have been (seems like a TON of work) but it made me want one of these in between each season, where we'd follow the characters that Ash had just said goodbye to for the next region.
Diamond and Pearl (S10-S13)
Series I grew up with! Honestly I was kinda a hater as a kid but having watched it back, I love the series
Love that Ash and Dawn were bros. They had a really fun dynamic.
Debatably peak Team Rocket. They had some of the best Team Rocket centric episodes this series.
Contests were really fun and a bit more figured out compared to the Advanced series
Fun, memorable rivals for Ash (Paul and Barry) as well as Dawn (Zoey, Kenny and Jessilina sometimes)
This is unfortunately where I stopped caring about Ash as much. He feels kinda watered down for the next couple series.
Advanced (S6-S9)
Pretty tied up with DP for me
Really fun series! Still had some of that early Pokémon charm
I appreciated that they put Ash in more of a mentor role for May (but he still had a lot to learn himself).
Ash and May constantly butting heads was really fun
May was a very compelling character to me, being very clumsy, kinda lazy, directionless, not really into Pokémon, etc. But then over time, she comes around and finds something she's interested in!
Journeys (S23-S25)
I love the episodic take as well as the way they let the characters jump around from region to region at random
Goh was a GREAT travel companion to Ash. They contrast each other nicely, have moments where they get on each others' nerves but still get along and have a mutual admiration for one another.
It was fun that they made Goh's thing catching every Pokémon (the motto of the entire series) so they could focus on Ash just training and prepping for Worlds.
Amaaaazing style. Took the great parts of classic Pokémon, roundness of SM and blended em together for a really fun look.
Black & White (S14-S16)
I don't think it's that controversial to have BW this low haha
I did enjoy Iris and Cilan but it felt like the writers didn't reaaally know what to do with them? Also this was their first time in a while not having Brock and it shows. I feel like Brock was successful because he was grounded and lower energy compared to the rest of the kids. Having 3 pretty eccentric characters is kind of a lot. No hate to the characters in the slightest, there was just not as much balance.
I think maybe they leaned on Cilan and Iris for more comedic relief because they killed the comedic relief that was Team Rocket this series. I appreciate them trying something new with Jessie, James and Meowth but I don't think it worked very well lol
XY (S17-S19)
I've ranted about this series a lot LOL. I get the appeal of it, but it just wasn't for me. I felt like it was the weakest comedy-wise and took itself a bit too seriously for my taste
My main gripe is that Serena, Clemont and Bonnie all like,,, worship Ash. By doing so, Ash begins to feel like a side character because we're constantly looking at Ash through their eyes. There's so little conflict within the group so their dynamics feel really flat. I think this dynamic could have worked if they leaned waaay more into Ash being a mentor and maybe feeling the pressure of having to be a role model for the people around him.
Team Rocket very much feels like an afterthought in this series. They did in Journeys as well, but at least in Journeys they were doing something silly and also had a handful of episodes dedicated to em.
Outside of that, the episodes weren't super memorable for me
I think it's just frustrating because there was sooooo much potential character-wise

I've been away this weekend, so it's taken a couple of days to get my head around the news that CBS has cancelled NCIS Hawai'i as I've been trying to keep on top of all the posts and tweets and messages.
This one hurts. There is so much more character exploration to do, so many more backstories to tell. I want to know more about Lucy's family, I want to know more about Kate's relationship with her parents, I want to hear them talk more about marriage and to see their dreams come true. I want to know more about Jane's mom and why she left. I want to see more of Kai's relationship with Camille. I want to know if Ernie and Chase will ever get to together. We haven't even met Heather Boone yet!
I'm not ready to say goodbye to another wlw ship. I love Kacy, I love their dynamic. I love how they bring out another side in each other, how they appreciate and love each other's idiosyncrasies.
It's another successful show, led by a woman of colour, with a prominent wlw ship - just like Station 19 - that has been deemed expendable in favour of other stories. In Hawai'i's case, straight white male stories like Gibbs and DiNozzo. And don't get me started on CBS investing in Michael Weatherly. 🤬
The way these networks make these decisions and surprise them on the cast and crew is horrible. And, unlike S19, we don't even get a final season to wrap up any loose ends - and, from what I've heard, season 3 is going to end on a cliffhanger. ☹️ We're lucky that there are some brilliant writers in this fandom who, I'm sure, will gift us with fic - but it shouldn't be this way, the show should get the chance to say goodbye properly.
I'm gutted for the cast and crew. I'm gutted for the fans. I hate that it's the second time this has happened to one of the fandoms I love within only six months. I hate that there's another fight to be had. So yeah, this one hurts. 💔

I saw your post about the hawaii cancelation and it hit me hard all over again. I'm not sure why it's affecting me this much. I started the show not too long ago after seeing cute gifs and loved it from the pilot and was excited finally having caught up to season 3. Then I saw the posts circulating the uncertainty and for some reason I expected the worst. To distract myself from it, I even started binging S19 again from season 1, only to read the sad news at like 2 am, by randomly scrolling through tumblr. I couldn't sleep all night. I truely fell in love with Kacy and rewatched all their scenes like a thousand times. Marina cancelation is sad too, but I don't know, I guess that one was let down easy and we get some closure. NCIS just hit me like a truck. I grew up with the original NCIS and loved Ziva, but there was always something off with the show. Then I started watching hawaii and it clicked. The POC female LEAD + Kacy (being half POC, very organic, cute and sincere couple which is rare with wlw) to top it off. Compared to shows that don't get axed and run for 20 years with the most ridiculous, non-relatable storylines, this one really hit below the belt. Sorry for the long post, I just needed to vent.
Thank you, Anon, for sharing this with me. I think we are going through a very emotionally challenging experience. Sharing our feelings can be very helpful, especially in the fandom where people can relate to it. So, feel free to vent as much as you want.
I feel you Anon. Many things you wrote resonated with me. I haven't felt such a deep attachment to a ship and a show for a while, so the loss hit hard. We are all suffering from the loss of a show that brought us representation, hope, comfort, and happiness which is huge. But IMO the overall disrespect from CBS is making it even worse. They dealt with the cancellation awfully, showing a massive disrespect for the fans, cast, and crew. They completely disregarded all of us, letting us believe there was a chance, only to crush our hopes.
It was never just a tvshow, it's Ohana.

As usual fans be wilding as much as I get the frustration s19 wasn't going for ever anyway and out of the two I don't think abc would cancel the one that they just acquired that has someone like Angela Bassett onboard
Yeah, I mean. This year was weird. We had a strike. 911 was literally hanging in the balance before that. 911 got cancelled, actually, and just because it got saved by ABC doesn't mean it didn't happen. So people are going to be anxious about the show's future and that's okay. It happens. Especially with the year we've had. But I don't think it's anything to worry about, not right now. Season 7 is coming, original cast is coming back, maybe some other positives thrown in with a few negatives... things are looking pretty good, all in all. So I'm chilling. I hope everyone else is too.

You once called Maya ‘Maya Fabray’ and LMAO too true. Maybe even worse. I spent so much of season three/four going ‘what does this meaaaaan?’ and losing my investment in them a little because of how all over the place everything was and also the baby angle which isn’t my favorite but hearing the show got cancelled hit me harder than expected. There have been so many cancelations and full on removals of shows with lesbian/bi mains and leads and though this isn’t exactly that losing a major long term lesbian ship definitely stings.
Did I call her that?? Lol, I mean, it fits, but I don't remember that. Of course, it's been...four years (!) of Marina, so I don't remember a lot I said.
Hmmmmm. So I do definitely share your grief at the loss of so many f/f series, especially those with any longevity, now that the CW's mostly closed down and hardly any network willing to continue anything longer than a season, something like Marina is so valuable, but, Personally, given the nature of S19, I'll be a little relieved for Marina to get their deserved happy ending and closure and not any more opportunities to be ruined.
To be fair, the show has successfully walked back two terrible arcs, even three to some people, but given how far down they went with Maya before pulling out of that dive and putting her on a true path to recovery, we can only guess at how brutal the next valley in their relationship would have been in normal circumstances, to be bigger than that. It's a soap, it has to keep outdoing itself, and that's assuming both actors stay on so we keep getting them as a pair.
But no, yeah, it's unlikely anybody would give up a safe long term gig like this, so it's sad for the cast and crew, certainly, and to be sure, I will miss them and I wouldn't have been disappointed if they continued, I'm just also not as disappointed as I might have been with a different genre, or if we hadn't gotten this many years of them already.

What are your top 3 Maya/Marina eps? I can’t choose but my favorite moments are definitely pre season 4. Because I’m currently rewatching and those seasons are far more balanced in terms of character and plot development. Plus the Gibson x Maya, hookup/breakup/cheat took a much needed friendship off the table. They were no Mark and Callie but I could see an eventual Arizona and Alex vibe maybe. I used to love the playfully antagonistic vibe they had before they started dating (also thought they had equal if not more chemistry than Carina and Maya sorry not sorry lol) but after the cheating their friendship (understandably) stalled and became Maya always asking for relationship advice or literal sperm 🫤 and it’s just. Boring. There’s a levity that’s missing from the show these days and as funny as Vic and Travis are I miss the general humour of the entire cast. Nowadays everyone’s regulated to their one specific friend and it’s like a workplace without boundaries instead of friends who happen to work together (which was the vibe in 1&2). Remember Vic-Dean-Jack or even Vic-Jack-Maya? Underrated trios!
Hi anon, I haven't rewatched any S19 (except for some moments) so forgive me for not remembering that well, especially when it comes to specific episodes. There are some scenes I recall very well, those that really stood out for whatever reason, but entire episodes... not that much.
The only one that comes to mind is the one after Andrew's death, which was excellent beginning to end. But with the others... I don't know. You see, the thing is, the more an episode leans to being "Marina centered", the more detached they feel from the others (unless they get Carina to the station, which 9/10 just feels forced to me - so the writers just can't do right (yes I'm very much aware that this is a me problem)). It might sound weird, but I really had prefered Carina in a "Bailey position" with less - but great - scenes (and all right, one or two real eps per season), and Maya still very much part of the team. Which, I guess, is what we got in s3. Yes, Carina only got to bring her lasagne, Maya only asked Carina on vacay at the end of a long day, Carina only got to comfort Maya when feeling like a truck... but those "only" moments all counted (so much!!) - while Maya also got to be part of a team and group of friends.
So yeah, call me the worst shipper ever, but I (too) do believe those were the better days... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Edit: I'm sorry, I'm only now seeing you also asked for Maya eps. I know there are a few of those over the years, mainly in the early seasons, but in a strange way it was marvelous to watch her reach her low as well (that hospital scene... pfff), yet to really be able to answer I'd have to watch the whole thing again... which I'm not gonna do! 😂

We know that cast members and executives leaving shows is totally normal and expected. Especially once you hit a certain number of seasons.
But since August 24th 2022, there have now been 8 exists on Wolf Ent shows. In 72 days.
The only thought I'm now having is if Grey's Anatomy has ever had a comparable statistic in its run because to me it seems like the most similar to compare. Has GA, PP, or S19 ever had collectively this many exits in a similar time frame?? Between cast and high execs it could be possible??
There is space for this to be totally normal, or not at all but without a spreadsheet in front of me with all of the data I wouldn't be able to tell either way.
It just seems a little weird to me that's all.

I’m now a huge fan of Leah Gonzalez, having seen her handful of S19 episodes. She has great balancing skill, each storyline feels like it’s been given enough attention, care, and consideration. That’s so impressive, especially given the bloated cast size.

we are pretty far along in this season and no renewal confirmation yet. do you think S19 might actually be canceled?
I'd be very very surprised, Anon. It's odd, since Grey's has been picked up, that they haven't said anything about S19. But the show is doing well in terms of ratings and one of the crew said they thought it was a given, so I think it's just a waiting game for the announcement. I think what's going to be interesting is to see if we lose any of our main cast. (I'm hoping that, at least, Dixon and Beckett are gone in season 7. 🤞🏻)

I was the first one to be happy when Station 19 got canceled because I always wanted it since I just couldn’t take the bad writing of the show anymore. And I saw in real Danielle getting emotional about it at the con FRR2 in Paris but what I will keep in my mind is that she is so thankful for Maya Bishop and her fans as much as I’m thankful for her and for Maya. I have accepted the cancellation much better than the fandom because S19 died after the season 3 for me. Krista Vernoff and the writers ruined it. They ruined every character specially Carina so the cancellation makes me feel nothing. And you know why ? Because I’m thankful that I got to watch 6 seasons of Station 19, to see Maya growing into a much better human, to see Marina having great moments, to see Travic to be friendship goals. I’m thankful that the show happened, that I got a new fav wlw couple. I’m happy that this shitshow used to be one of my fav comfort shows. But for me, it’s time to move on with Station 19 because I want to see the cast in another TV project where they will shine with their acting. I want to see Danielle doing things that I did not know she would be great at it. I want to see Stefania doing an Italian TV project or a new short movie or a new drama show where she would show to the world how incredible she is with emotions.
