I need you to know I am kissing you on the mouth rn (platonically) -- I've been rotating this plot in the microwave since like. mid-august.

It's transcendence au (obvi) but here's the basic hook:

The year is 7098. The last Mizar (Fang Wu -- and shoutout to aba_daba_do for making a kickass OC) has been dead for four years now, and Alcor has been MIA for about the same amount of time. In their absence, the North American continent has broken out into a full-on, cross-continental war, with the main players being the Greater Austinian Monopoly (formerly known as Texas) and the Alaskadian Collective (Alaska, plus some parts of Canada and north-eastern Russia).

In a last-ditch effort to find some long-forgotten piece of magical information that could win the war, Alaskadian scientist Fatima Tursynbekova (an r!Ford) is sent to the abandoned site of what used to be Gravity Falls, accompanied by her troubled teenage daughter Olya (an r!Gideon). They're expecting to find little more than scant remnants of a town that was razed to the ground over thirty years before -- not much better than an archaeological expedition if anything.

However, what they find instead is a thriving small town -- the inhabitants of which are all completely and utterly convinced that it's the year 2016 (feat. the OG Mystery Twins and an extremely sus Stan Pines).

Anyways blah blah blah romance, secrecy, interpersonal drama but COME LOOK AT THE MAP I MADE I spent entirely too much time on it and I've been dying to share:

Every time I see one of your videos where you talk to the dogs, it feels so weird because there are moments when I /think/ I can almost understand what you're saying, or at least that I /should/ understand. But at the same time, no, I don't, I never actually understand, or if I do, it's more guessing and context clues than anything else. But somewhere in my brain there's a couple of wires crossed that make me absolutely convinced I /should/ understand Norwegian when I hear it, even though I really do not

(Tbh I think it's probably that I studied the mandatory amount of Swedish in school due to being Finnish. Tbh none of it actually stuck and I keep meaning to pick it up and learn on my own time but never get around to doing so in reality, but I guess I ended up just narrowly familiar enough with the language, its sounds and vocabulary, that hearing a language very closely related to it makes my brain confused lol)

I actually think I totally get what you mean?

I have a semi-similar relationship with a couple of languages that I've either been exposed to for prolonged periods of time but never learned any of OR that I don't actually hear much but that have similar enough nouns that sometimes when I do hear a conversation I can sorta piece together sentences. Except I have no idea if I actually can or if I'm just making it up because there's no way to find out if I'm wrong.

I follow for your CLAMP content but I love languages, and I noticed you tend to leave articles off when you write, like for example you wrote "on battlefield" instead of "on the battlefield" in a FuuKam 💖 post earlier. You're right, English is my second language. I'm Serbian (technically I was born in Montenegro but back in the day those were same country. Also Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro share language just with slight differences) and our language doesn't have articles nor anything similar. It's a gendered language with 7 cases where you write words as you read them. So you can guess how much people here struggle with pronunciation when first learning English 😂

Google sucks for actually finding what you're looking for, however I love it because it is very good at finding weird things you are not looking for. was trying to google if they have birthday hats in Ukraine (they had them in SotP but according to reddit they're not very common outside the US) and ended up discovering that there is a such thing as a bluetooth hat. like that has speakers and a mic and stuff and can play music if you don't want to wear headphones. (I realize this is a not a new thing, however I never knew about it) also I was able to read about said hat in Ukrainian which made me very happy (and surprised lol). plus I learned that beanie is біні :D I am intrigued by this item now and I have so many questions about it. does it work as headphones so that people around you can't hear it? does a mic that's on top of your head actually pick up sound well? still never found the answer abt the birthday hats, since, you know, google sucks at actually finding what you're looking for

Schools are about to open again and I'm thinking about that time last year my dad's 6th graders said he was an icon and my parents had to ask me what it means. Their only association with the word "icon" was those paintings of saints in the Russian Orthodox church. So they were wondering if it meant the kids thought he was like... old or unmoving or..? And I had to explain that no it's.. it's a good thing. Being iconic. It means they like him and think he's cool.

I've long wanted to point out to any curious DE enthusiasts that "zaum" is actually a common noun. The Wikipedia page is about a Russian post-meaning futurist literary movement, but in the common Russian language this word can mean any nonsensical, long-winded and graphomanic text... so I've always interpreted the studio name as a self-assessment of DE of sorts lol

The word gory/горы does indeed mean mountains and can also mean hills. Lenin Hills are not nearly high enough to be called mountains.

The -skiye is a declension suffix. In Russian, words decline to reflect its grammatical gender, tense, number, case etc. Adjectives take on the properties of its noun. For example, in nominative case:

Leninskiye gory (gory - hills - plural)

Leninskaya gora (gora - hill - feminine, singular)

Leninsky holm (holm - small hill - masculine, singular)

Leninskoye ozero (ozero - lake - neutral, singular)
