Love old conversions, like this former 1913 bank building in Cragford, Alabama. It has 3bds, 4ba., and is listed for $349K.

They have the porch looking a little messy, but they’ve got some great carved rocking chairs.

I must say that the living room is cozy- look at the brick wall. 

Very nicely done- they used metal panels to form rooms. Gives it a nice industrial vibe. However, I don’t know what possessed them to put a bed in the kitchen.

Love that the kitchen looks like a workshop. Interesting- they used industrial furniture. 

This is cute- two glass doors make a separating wall. 

Definitely loft vibes.

The main bd. looks a little like a furniture store display. I don’t know why they’ve got half a gray carpet and half red.

A full bath and laundry area.

Very nice.

They didn’t do such a great job on the bedrooms, though. This is a kid’s cluttered room and the “walls” are only curtains. Not lovin’ this.

This room has its own entrance with a small foyer and office area. 

Listed as a single family residence makes me wonder why there’s a whole ‘nother kitchen here. I’m confused now.

Looks like a family room or kids hangout space.

#brot posts #lawng island babey #the ‘fins’ are actually called The Forks #theres the north fork and the south fork #the only true rural areas on LI and even then theyre more suburban rural. but still. #north fork has a lot of farms and is fairly ritzy thats where all the rich folks with their huge properties and vineyards are #south fork is mostly just protected forests rather than farms #though thats where the hamptons are so theyre actually richer than the north fork #like rich people and even Celebrities have multimillion dollar summer homes there #and by the hamptons i mean westhampton southampton etc #a few towns with the word hampton in their names so they become The Hamptons collectively #and then you go past the hamptons and it becomes more and more just like forests and marshes with a few spots of actual towns #montauk is the furthest eastward point on the south fork and on all of long island #probably one of our only tourist spots because of it #george washington built a lighthouse there or what the fuck ever #montauk the town is really cute though its fun to take a daytrip there #then the furthest eastward point on the north fork is orient point #nowhere near as renowned as montauk point #ive only ever been to orient point bc its a major ferry launching point to go across the LI sound and reach connecticut lmfao #theres another ferry point in uhm. port jefferson i believe but ive never used that one personally

I want anon to understand that Animal Rights Activists, especially those working at the legislative level, don’t make or care to make any distinction between our working dogs on tie out and pet dogs on tie out. To them it is equal and this is why outright bans can be harmful (be it harm to a pet dog on a tie out that gets enrichment or working dogs) and I have a hard time believing anybody that actively keeps dogs on a tie out would believe they aren’t going to be in the crossfire of a tie out ban.

#dogblr #not to mention living rurally how many people I know use tie outs because their properties are huge #like we understand that laws that ban dogs outdoors after a certain temperature in winter #are silly bc some dogs are made for that temperature #we can understand breed bans aren’t an effective way of controlling dog conflicts #but we can’t understand banning forms of containment is bad? lmao okay. #also: what does your state define as a ‘working dog’ #in vt they only are if they are a working farm of livestock guardian or hunting hound #our laws do not accommodate for sled dogs or k9s or retrieval dogs etc. #not to mention that the roaming hound issue has become a big controversy here

on the cat post: barn cat thoughts?

i understand the rationale and practical applications, and i grind my teeth about it less if they're at least spayed/neutered and given proper, regular vet care, but if that cat is just allowed/able to wander freely it's gonna have a shitty and likely very short life, on top of the negative impact it will have on the local environment beyond the barn's pest control issue.

i'm in no way an expert, but it's hard to imagine there's not some alternative that, while it may not seem cheaper, doesn't cost a life.

#call and response #Anonymous #when the situation in my post occurred that was very much 'barn cat' country #and if you think only the non 'working' cats on our property are the ones those horrors happened to think again #on top of the actual wild dog packs and coyotes #lots of rural folks like to let their dogs wander freely and they pack up and end up functioning as halfwild dog packs as well #cars on rural roads are still gonna hit those cats #barn cat is no match for a bigass bird of prey that looks down and sees lunch #barn cat even with vet care is at far greater risk of exposure to disease and infection than any indoor cat #let me tell you about how i'm haunted by the kitten who died on my lap in a towel in the bed of the truck outside #as i felt her last rattling wheeze of breath felt her go still #so tiny and utterly overrun by respiratory illness #how about the kitten who got snake bit and his neck swelled up horrifically and he had an awful slow death #or the adult boy cat tux who lasted longer than almost any other of the boys #but came home one day with a big old spider bite on his face and seemed fine really #but suddenly began declining sharply til he was weaving in staggering circles #unable to control his bladder #the cloying smell of rot and infection as i held him towel wrapped in my arms when we took him to the vet to be eased to his end #how about the kitten i mentioned where the visual haunts me horribly still #simon my little boy who made it half grown from kittenhood almost to an age to be fixed #who i planned to take with me once i'd saved up enough to move out and make him an indoor baby #i found his siblings and cousins all over the yard and drive shaken to death by dogs #but him i found the next day but only half #half #i'm sparing you further details but i fucking broke #you think barn cats are safe from any of that? they are not #tw animal death #animal death #pet death
