This is Kaylo Muttsie, with a touch of bad Italian grammar. If he were to talk, he would probably sound like a 60's New York teen ruffian or something like that. Think Robert De Niro's character in Mean Streets (if you've watched it at least... a few clips is worth it I say)... troublesome, blunt and care-free.

Doodling my fantasy characters in pinups is funny. Rumi's some kind of fantasy polearm wielding ex-commando from the mountains, but she can do swimsuits too.

Here they are! The sillies!!
They're a group of fantasy misfits and outlaws, each trying to escape from something. They all cross paths and become a found family in a story I have in my head but they mostly just vibe in there.
Closeups and info about each of them under this
Angel Goodsprout
Tumblr media
A fairy traveling around the world and exploring herself after escaping a magical, astral themed cult. Having been part of a pyramid scheme her whole life, unaware of her situation, made her optimistic, hardworking and considerate, but then again also naive and a people pleaser. She's a very powerful magic user but the leader of the cult put a spell on her so she can only use her powers when the sun is out.
Isaac Graves
Tumblr media
A human disguised as a warlock traveling elf and magic territory, where humans are generally unwelcome, looking for his lost brother. He fakes having magic of his own using the special properties of plants and potions. He's cunning and emotionally shut-off but is very protective of those he cares about. Maybe bit overbearing, even. His good heart made him earn the trust of a mischievous little fire spirit.
Jasper char Elvenstone
Tumblr media
A young elf who uses his extraordinary archery skills as an assassin. He can be pretty immature, making bad decisions like joining a gang, but also paradoxically he also acts too old for his age, thinking that doing these things will serve as vengeance for the loss of his family. He's impulsive, and cocky, and bold, but overall a good kid that's just misguided.
"Mae"
Tumblr media
A creature of origin so ancient it has been lost to time, Mae is an old witch doctor with a keen interest in the bridge between life and death, among magic and non-magic beings. They're basically escaping death playing god with their own soul and giving themselves a very long lifespan. They are morbidly curious, a bit scatterbrained, and outright unpredictable. However they grow fond of the group and decide to stay around.
Felix Graves
Tumblr media
Ran away from his small-minded human hometown to achieve his dream of becoming a great inventor. An expert on mechanics and a lover of astronomy, he studies the magical properties of stars and constellations to use as power for his machines. He wants to make use of his talent to help people, but he's very awkward when trying to show it. He's quiet and self-contained, and usually deadpan and brutally honest when talking to others.
Selene Noir
Tumblr media
Another refugee of the astral cult, her magical powers are limited to work only when the moon is out. Unlike Angel, she was skeptical of the cult's methods, and her rebellious nature got her in trouble. Even after escaping, she stays distrustful of the people around her, and she struggles making close connections with others. Alternatively she is very good at manipulating and scamming, so she makes a business selling overpriced magic weapons for non-magics.

I gave Whiskey another design revisit...
He's got scars on his body, and a hole in his left ear from a gunshot wound. That ear mostly gets covered up by his hat to hide a potentially distinguishing fact about his grim, juvenile life. Also, since he wears the hat a lot, it's mostly kept his hairstyle flat. He also now commonly wears a yellow shirt to give him a more approachable look (as opposed to the original grey colour), but at the same time keeping his shirt familiarly simple to retain that inconspicuousness he wants to bring about his looks. Compared to his past drawings, he tends to smile a lot more now too, especially with good company.

Finding random newspaper clippings in old books isn't that weird, although this one surprised me, probably because I know how it ended-and the book in question was about a decade old by the time Ruffian was running. But reading this.... especially the bit about going down in turf history as a great sport spectacular....ouch
(transcribed article below the cut)
NEW YORK (AP) - Ruffian faces the supreme test of her fabulous career in a $350,000 match race against Foolish Pleasure at Belmont Park today.
The unbeaten 3-year-old filly, proclaimed by many as the greatest of her sex in turf annals, is favored to make it 11 in a row by whipping the winner of the Kentucky Derby in this battle of the sexes that has quickened the heartbeat of horse lovers.
The 1 1/4-mile sports spectacular is expected to lure a record crowd of 83,000 and go down in turf history as one of the great sports spectaculars. Post time is about 6 p.m. EDT, and the race will be nationally televised by CBS.
Ruffian, known for her effortless style of running, has been on top all the way in each of her 10 starts. That is why she has been proclaimed by some as the greatest filly of all time.
Still, because the daughter of Reviewer has raced only against her own sex, many believe she can prove her supremacy only by beating Foolish Pleasure.
It will be a stern test.
"Ruffian's tough, but we're going to test her," Leroy Jolley, trainer of Foolish Pleasure, said. "The only way to beat her is to run with her. We'll test her all right."
Since most match races have been won by the lead horse, it seems that Jacinto Vasquez, Ruffian's jockey, and Braulio Baeza, astride Foolish Pleasure, will bust out of the gate lickity split and stage a speed duel to get in front.
"I've done everything I know to make her ready," said veteran trainer Frank Whiteley Jr., after Ruffian's recent five-furlong work in :58 1/5 seconds. Clockers termed it "easy work."
Foolish Pleasure has been a come-from-behind runner this year, but "Don't forget," said Jolley, "as a 2-year-old last year when he was unbeaten, most folks thought he was just a speedball who wouldn't get the classic distances."
Foolish Pleasure's last start was in the Belmont Stakes at 1½ miles on June 7 where he lost to Avatar by a neck in 2:28 1/5. Ruffian also ran in the Coaching Club American Oaks June 21, also at 1½ miles, which she won by nearly three lengths in 2:27 4/5.
Ruffian, a Kentucky homebred owned by Stuart Janney, Jr. of Maryland, has earned $313,429 in her 10 starts. She can add $225,000 to that if she beats Foolish Pleasure. If not, she gets the loser's share of $125,000.

I fell out of love with the track for many reasons but I used to be obsessed with Seabiscuit and his famous race against War Admiral when I was young.
I'm currently reading up on Zenyatta and Ruffian came up; I was aware of her but only by name. Interesting but sad article on her life and terrible death.

Magnificent Ruffian. The Blood-Horse named her the greatest filly of the 20th century.
In her very first start as a 2-year-old in 1974, she tied the Belmont track record for 5½ furlongs, cruising to a 15-length victory. By the following spring, she was undefeated in 10 starts. At every point of call in each race she ran, she was in the lead, and in all eight of her stakes victories she set new stakes records. Her average margin of victory in the 10 races she finished was over eight lengths.
Her brilliance radiated until her final day, which came tragically and far too soon: a highly anticipated 1975 match race against Kentucky Derby winner Foolish Pleasure ended with the great filly’s breakdown and subsequent death. While no one who witnessed that awful day will forget it, neither will anyone forget Ruffian’s tremendous spirit.
Just weeks before Ruffian’s ill-fated final race, Steve Haskin was at the backstretch of Belmont Park and captured the elegance and grace of future Hall of Fame filly. “When I visited she was out grazing and her groom was kind enough to have her pose for me. I don't recall ever seeing a conformation shot of Ruffian at her barn. There she stood in all her magnificence, her coat glistening like black titanium. That would be one of a few treasured times I photographed Ruffian, and it is this rare intimate shot that remains one of my all-time favorites.
This Is One Of The Best Things I Have Ever Read.
