25 years ago tonight, I went with my father, my friend Ben and (I think) my sister to see “Tomorrow Never Dies”. I specifically remember bemoaning the other release that day, swearing up and down it would end up being a bomb. That “Tomorrow Never Dies” would (obviously) make more money. The other movie? James Cameron’s “Titanic”. Hey, at least I can admit my mistakes: A pretty fun entry in the Bond series with a lot of great set pieces and a killer score by David Arnold (who would go on to score the next 4 Bonds). Met with the unrelenting power that money has on a mans mind, Daniel Plainview, spirals into a life of power, greed, hatred and immense wealth. Daniel Day-Lewis took home the Oscar for his performance as Plainview, whilst Robert Elswit earned his Acadamy Award for Outstanding Cinematography. Director, Paul Thomas Anderson explains the film was so eerie and harsh to edit that it was like 'steak and vodka', of which he and his editing team decided to make their evening meal every Wednesday night in the editing studio. Interesting when you consider the rigid and elongated editing style of the film. 22 years ago, I went to see this with my entire family and my friend Ben. I remember thinking this was totally going to blow the other release that day out of the water. I was certain of it. The other film? “Titanic”. Good thinking, nimrod. That being said, I’ve always enjoyed this Brosnan outing. It was at the height of “GoldenEye 64” mania and it capitalized on it. “GoldenEye” (the film), while amazing in it’s own right, didn’t have a score by David Arnold. David Arnold is severely underrated and this film is a major showcase of his talents. Brosnan seems to be more comfortable in this film than in “GoldenEye” but this film is also a tad more ridiculous, which I think works fine it’s advantage. Pryce is a great villain and Yeoh is one of the better Bond women. The film also has some of the best set pieces of the series. Cannot believe it’s been 22 years, good God. Below we’ll highlight some of the Skyscraper filming locations, roundup the behind the scenes photos and share the trailer that was released following the Super Bowl last night.

Although it’s set in Hong Kong, Skyscraper filmed in Vancouver and area from August 15th to November 23rd, 2017 and it premieres on July 13th, 2018 in theatres. The movie was written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, whose other credits include Easy A, We’re the Millers and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. Skyscraper centres around an FBI Negotiator named Will Ford, played by Dwayne Johnson.

After an established career in the field, Will ends up severely wounded and loses part of his leg in the process. To make matters worse, he finds himself framed for murder in Hong Kong. His family is then kidnapped and trapped inside the tallest skyscraper in the world which is subsequently set ablaze. In a race against time, Will has to attempt to rescue his family and find out who cased the disaster so he can bring them to justice.

Friday. 230am. Good people. Hard work. Lining up the shots for the rest of the night with my #SkyscraperMovie director, Rawson Thurber. Proud of this dude. Fresh out of USC Film School, he breaks into Hollywood with a hit movie that he wrote and directed, called, DODGEBALL. He follows that up with another hit movie, WE ARE THE MILLERS. He then follows that up with another hit movie, CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE with me and my much bigger twin @kevinhart4real. Refusing to be pigeonholed as a “comedy director”, he goes away for six months and writes a script that is not only reflective of who he is as a man, husband and new father, but also reflective of the kinds of big tent pole movies that have always inspired him from STAR WARS to RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARC. The script becomes one of Hollywood’s hottest scripts of 2016 causing a huge bidding war (true story) between every studio. The studios who won that war were Legendary Studios and Universal Studios. The name of the script… SKYSCRAPER. This guy has the potential to go down as one of the best true writer/directors ever. Too bad he’s an asshole.
