Captive State (2019) directed by Rupert Wyatt

Been putting off watching Captive State for years after it got a lot of negative reception.

I loved it and I'm baffled by a lot of the complaints I've read in old threads. I'm convinced these people fell asleep during the movie or something.

Highly recommended if you like District 9 and slow-burns. Also the soundtrack is fantastic.

does anyone want to make like a petition or something for thomas to donate at least part of the ad revenue on his sorting video to a trans charity? or at least put some kind of disclaimer in the video or in the description stating that he doesn’t support jkr, and maybe link some resources and/or charities to encourage donations? idk, it just sits weirdly with me that, upon checking the video a minute ago, there’s no alterations to how it was originally posted to address the bigotry of that franchise.

(especially considering he bought a bunch of merch for the video, which he makes a joke about, potentially encouraging his viewers to sort & buy merch for their houses as well)

Anytime someone likes a piece I did ages ago for a now old hyperfixation I get the strongest longing to get back into it with the same passion I had back then. Like it's so crazy to think something once occupied your every thought, be it for a short time, and that no matter how you look at it now you can't see the same special spark.

It's still good, and you still love it, and you could return to it anytime, but it's not quite it. Feels like squeezing everything too fast, or like old friends you love but have little to discuss with when you hang out, so you end up talking bout the weather and shit. Give back the Special Joy.

Woody Platt and Steep Canyon Rangers to Appear at Mountain Song Festival

- No word on whether singer will perform with his former band

Woody Platt will share the Mountain Song festival stage with Steep Canyon Rangers. But it’s unclear if the singer and guitarist will perform with his former bandmates.

Slated for Sept. 6-7 in North Carolina, the festival will feature Platt and his wife, Shannon Whitworth, playing just after the Rangers’ opening set. The band, which has hosted the festival for 18 years, will also close it out.

“We are super excited,” Aaron Burdett, who replaced Platt, posted on Facebook.

Neither Platt, who in 2022 left the band he co-founded a quarter-century earlier, nor the Rangers have made any mention of the significance of the bill.

Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Zach Top, Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley, Tray Wellington and Hank, Pattie & the Current are also slated to perform.

I've been toying with the idea of a story about a trans dude that gets bitten by a werewolf but doesn't know and thinks the testosterone is working REALLY quickly (there's a post on here somewhere with a similar vibes I saw ages ago), something about how werewolves are a good metaphor for trans masc changes.

Anyway I excitedly shared the idea with a friend and they were like "omg yeah like the Rob Shneider movie the Animal!" and that's put me off my idea COMPLETELY. It's going right into the trash folder.

The third and final season of “Good Omens” will begin filming soon in Scotland.

“I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006,” Gaiman said in a statement accompanying Amazon’s “Good Omens” Season 3 renewal announcement Thursday. “Terry was determined that if we made ‘Good Omens’ for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season One was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. Season Two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now in Season Three, we will deal once more with the end of the world. The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren’t talking.”

Amazon MGM Studios head of television said Vernon Sanders added: “’Good Omens’ has checked every box for a clever, witty, and funny comedy that not only made it a success on Prime Video, but also made ‘goodness’ watchable and fun thanks to Neil and Terry’s immense creativity. The final season is sure to be packed with the same dynamic energy that our global customers have come to enjoy.”

Gaiman, who has a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios, where he is currently working on his “Anansi Boys” TV series, continues as executive producer, writer and showrunner for “Good Omens” Season 3. Rob Wilkins of Narrativia, representing Pratchett’s estate, and BBC Studios Productions’ head of comedy Josh Cole also executive produce.

“Good Omens” hails from Amazon MGM Studios, BBC Studios Productions, the Blank Corporation and Narrativia.
