Being an Australian girl born and raised, and one who lives in Sydney, you can imagine how happy I was when I was watching Free! and found out that Rin spent time in Australia (specifically Sydney I think?) The fact that the poor guy would have had to also sit through those stupid ass NAPLAN exams they make us do in primary school and high school makes me feel SEEN damnit.

I'm pretty sure the only country they even do it in is Australia, but I needed to get this thought out there. It's definitely something he would have had to do while living over here, and it just makes me happy that he would have had to deal with it as well. And if any there are other Aussies see this who are also a fan of Free! and had to sit through NAPLAN testing, I hope this realisation makes you smile or laugh too! 😁

Oh! And for the people who don't know what NAPLAN is,and you want to so you can maybe better understand what it is and why I (along with pretty much everyone who has ever had to do it) hate the damn thing so much, I'll break it down below for you! You don't have to read it, but it's there if you want to, it doesn't impact on what I said above, it just explains what it is and why most people hate it and/or think it's so dumb. ♥

NAPLAN testing is just a stupid series of tests kids in Australia have to sit through during their education. You only do it in your third, fifth, seventh, and ninth years of school (although if you fail it in your ninth year you have to retake it until you pass). It stands for National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy and like the name suggests it tests your literacy and numeracy skills and started back in 2008. As you may have noticed, I, along with a lot of other Australians, think it's dumb.

For starters, we aren't even graded on it. Sure we receive a pass or a fail, but it doesn't actually count towards the grades we receive in school or the results of any other exams we take. You sit the tests, the results come back, and it tells you whether or not your skills in that area are average, below, or above. A passing grade is just in the average margin or above average margin, but again it doesn't actually count towards anything and you don't have to retake it if you 'fail.' The only time you have to retake it is in your ninth year of school if you fail. You sit the tests you failed again in your tenth year and you retake it until you get into the average or above margins.

All in all it's pretty much considered a huge failure and a lot of schools in Australia are trying to circle it out of their curriculum. I think I heard a while back that most states don't do it anymore, but Queensland and New South Wales still do. People argue that it's more of a reflection of our teachers abilities to actually teach us, but again it's pretty much this huge failure.

It's taken by just about every kid in the country in the third, fifth, seventh, and ninth years of school. There are some exemptions but it's sat by a very large majority of students in those year levels. It costs about $100 million a year for everything that goes into it but it doesn't actually improve teaching standards, offer much insight, enhance educational resources, or boost the well-being of students and teachers. There's little to no educational value and the reliability of results is poor at best. Not to mention the fact that we receive the results a whole five months after the test itself.

The school year starts in late January and the test is done in May, so it's usually around October that we get the results. Considering the school year ends in mid-December, it's impossible to even consider let alone create a meaningful change that will assist students and their teachers in anyway shape or form before the end of the school year. Even though some argue that it's a reflection of a teacher's ability to educate, it actually indicates very little in regards to a teacher's quality and actually seems to encourage a poorer quality in teaching. It promotes a superficial kind of learning as opposed to one that focuses on encouraging creativity and cultivating complex knowledge and skills needed in the real world. Not to mention it doesn't demonstrate a kid's performance in sport, science, and the performing arts.

It just gives students a load of unnecessary stress and anxiety, not to mention that some of the kids who are taking it are as young as seven years old (and I'm one of those kids)! I managed to scrape a pass whenever I had to do a NAPLAN test but it still told me that my performance would affect my ability to succeed in school and in life. Most of only started realising how stupid and flawed it was in our seventh and ninth years of school, but by then we were already becoming accustomed to the ridiculous amount of pressure by our teachers to do well, otherwise we'd be seen as below average and dumb.

Yes, it is definitely important to see and measure how well students are performing and how well teachers are educating their students, but NAPLAN is in no way a reliable way to test these things. It's unreliable and skewed data, isn't a reflection of genuine ability, only tests a very narrow field of education, and delivers an enormous amount of pressure to children as young as seven years old.

Despite all these flaws and the absolute failure that is the NAPLAN exams, it's one if the few (if only) nationwide tests that Australian kids have to take. And again, this costs Australian taxpayers around $100 MILLION a year.

It's stupid, I hate it, we all hate it. Rin probably would have had to take it so yeah, that makes me happy to know that he probably had the same experience as me :)

It was one of the most stressful moments in your life (only the first kiss with Jyuto was more stressful). You’ve been writing the last exams for the last few days; Japanese and English exams went better than you thought, but today you had your math and biology one. On the way, you talked a lot about Jyuto’s work and your studies, you mentioned something about visiting your grandparents and wanting to go shopping to buy a few knick-knacks for the kitchen (you literally lacked wooden spoons and a cheese grater).

but first !! a question for you and your f/o of choice: let's get back to the basics, how did you guys meet & fall in love? 🥺 i've been having thoughts about wrio & me lately n how that worked out for us ... BUT SPEAKING OF! i'm here to talk to you abt those prompts :3

unfortunately, wrio doesn't rlly get any day off. he's the administrator of a prison, and it doesn't properly run w/o him. i also rlly like to sleep in on weekends, so we end up comprimising 🤝 he can afford to come in a bit later on saturdays, and i end up waking up a little bit earlier than i usually would when sleeping in. i get to catch up on sleep on sundays then :') we just kinda get ready for the day together, sometimes in silence & sometimes just catching up on stuff when we're too busy during the week. when he has to leave, i walk him to the front door ... and then go back to sleep after lmao

as for tropes, wrio is definitely an exception to the trend i tend to have with my other f/o's lmao ,, think the classic acquaintances to co-workers to friends to lovers :^) i can expand on this on another occassion but i don't want this ask getting TOO long lmao

affection !! love affection !! in terms of showing it, we're both very affectionate w/ each other in private. but tbf, it's not like we get to be out with each other in public a lot anyway :< even then though, it's not like we're against pda but just don't rlly see the need to! buuuut anyway. another way of showing it is also just unspoken understanding between each other + being able to enjoy each other's company in silence. plus setting aside some time to spend quality time w each other! love that in my man fr fr

mmm my f/o of choice will be matsuoka! i feel like i haven’t really fleshed out our selfship so this’ll give me the opportunity to do so hehe~ we def met in high school during his isolation era lol but i am nothing if not persistent and kinda forced him into being friends with me. it wasn’t very hard though bc he’s a softy deep down and his compassionate side is how i fell for him! being one of his the new people in his life and realizing that he can allow himself to have fun is what sets rin down the path of falling in love. so yeah, good old friends to lovers, high school sweethearts!

waahhh i’ve seen a lot of screenshots and fanart of wrio but i don’t know to much about his character so reading this was super fun! and all your little scenarios are very romantic ;) i will always ship you with alhaitham but wrio is definitely a worthy partner :3 hope he’s treating you the best bc my esther deserves nothing less huehuehue

Seijuurou was used to this. His clothes had been disappearing since he was a kid, thanks to how much bigger he had always been than both Momo and Isuzu, but it had gotten so much worse his third year of high school. Going by the way Isuzu complained about her own clothes disappearing, it was a common Matsuoka courting ritual to just raid closets. The only reason Ai had gotten out unscathed in those months before Rin had gathered his courage was because he was too small for his closet to hold anything usable— though the same could not be said of his blanket collection.

So, yes. Seijuurou was used to his clothes, especially his jackets and sweaters, disappearing without notice. Even when Rin was overseas, Ai did it frequently enough to keep Seijuurou limber. So when Seijuurou opened his closet on the first truly chilly day one autumn to find it bare of anything with long sleeves, he just shook his head and closed it again, then moved to the living room to find something he could wear.

He stopped short.

Rin was sprawled along the length of the couch in Seijuurou’s Samezuka jacket, one of his sweaters layered underneath. Ai was sitting at the table in front of him, swimming in one of Seijuurou’s sweatshirts. But what got Seijuurou’s breath catching in his chest and his mind shooting through scenarios and possibilities and stopping short at the singular thought of wow was this:

Daichi, plopped on the floor with his head in Ai’s lap, rambling on about something to do with Suga and a banana, wearing Seijuurou’s college hoodie.

Rin was the first to notice him. He looked up from his book with a scowl that was more resting bitch face than anything. It turned into brow-furrowed confusion at what must have been a completely dumbfounded expression on Seijuurou’s face. Rin traced Seijuurou’s gaze to where he could not stop glancing at Daichi, and then Rin laughed.

“God, Mikoshiba, you should be used to this by now,” he snorted. Daichi broke off from his story and he and Ai glanced at Rin and then at Seijuurou.

“Oh. You broke him,” Ai commented. “Been a while since that happened.”

“Who broke him?” Daichi asked, and his voice was that beautiful amused-curious that had first caught Seijuurou’s interest.

“You did,” Rin answered. Daichi looked back at him, then his face did that gorgeous thing where he visibly worked through the logic set before him to try and puzzle out a problem. He looked at Seijuurou, standing in a t-shirt, then at Ai, then at Rin, then down at his own chest. A smile, the kind that only ever spelled trouble, stretched across his face.

“Y’know,” he hummed, settling more firmly against Ai. “It’s nice, being smaller than someone. Doesn’t happen that often for me. I tend to go more for smaller guys. But…” he glanced at Seijuurou, looking for all the world like a cat about to knock a glass off a counter. “That means that I buy a lot of my own clothes bigger, to get that boyfriend jacket feeling.” He shrugged and closed his eyes, clearly done with his setup. Seijuurou narrowed his eyes at him and pieced through what was offered. It was true that Seijuurou’s hoodie sat just about the same amount of baggy on him as most of his own clothes. Which meant that there was probably a sweater or two in Daichi’s own wardrobe that was about the same size…

Seijuurou grinned and darted into the bedroom, pulling open Daichi’s drawer at the bottom of the dresser. It was jammed full, overflowing with everything Daichi had crammed into it since he was here more often than not, the slow precursor to him just moving in one day the way Ai had a few years before. Seijuurou smiled at that thought as he pawed through the clothes, emerging triumphant with an old Karasuno sweatshirt. Seijuurou slipped it over his head, sighing contentedly as it fit just a little loose. And then the scent hit him.

“Oh my god,” he whispered, drawing the collar up to his nose to breathe in the smell of Daichi’s detergent and just the faintest hint of cologne. He stood and walked as sedately as he could manage back out to the living room. “Okay,” he said, and all three of them looked up at him, Rin grinning and Ai smirking and Daichi blushing. “I get it now. You’re all still menaces, but whatever. I understand.” Ai snorted and Rin laughed and Daichi was still blushing. Seijuurou noted that, but didn’t do anything with it as he moved Rin’s legs out of his way to sit on the couch, draping them back over his lap and settling in for a lazy afternoon in.

Hello I was wondering if you would like to do a Rin Matsuoka x reader when Rin decides to take the reader to the beach.Thank you ❤❤❤

It’s been weeks since the last time you went on a proper date with Rin, whenever he came back to visit, both of you’d be too tired to go out at all. But this time, you got a new swimsuit and were sure as hell youd like to show it to him. So you get everything ready before time, so when he arrives you can tell him your idea.A few hours went by, and you were all set up and found yourself resting on the couch, where you fell asleep.

A few minutes after, the main door from your apartment opens when Rin decides to use his own keys (the ones you gave him) after knocking a few times with no answer. He walks in, confused as to where is it that you could be, to be then pleasantly surprised by the sight of your figure cuddling a pillow on the couch.

Rin looks around and sets his eyes on the big bag and the beach ball by the floor, and smiles to himself.

By the time you wake up, you can feel someone kissing your forehead and for a split second your blood turns cold... until you see familiar red strands of hair falling down your cheeks from where Rin’s bending forward a little bit.

“Hey, sleepy-head,” he smiles and straightens up, while you stretch your arms and warp them around his waist.

“Hey,” you pout, rubbing your eyes; he giggles softly.

“Come on, y/n, I already packed the car”

“You did?”, you ask, perking up and hopping on your feet. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go!”

He holds your hand and takes you to the car; it is yours, but when he’s home, he’s the one driving and so he does. The trip is nice, you both share your taste in music, so it’s never hard to agree in what you want to listen. When you arrive at the beach, you both set down everything you need and get ready to get into the sea.

There’s a lot of things you want to do, so when you tell Rin everything about it, he agrees and follows your plan, from tossing the beach ball, to swimming, even cloud gazing.

It’s a nice day, and when sunset comes, you both sit and watch the sky while eating some of the snacks you backed back home, and when it gets dark and chilly, you know it’s time to pack up.

But right before, Rin makes sure he pulls you into a big, tight hug as give showers you with kisses. He loves you, and you know he loves you.

Rollerblading | Rin Matsuoka x Reader

A/n: this was so fun to write! Let me know how I did! And I chose rollerblading since it’s summer ;)

Genre: fluffy cuteness

“Rin! Check this out!” You nudged your boyfriend and brought your phone screen up to his face.

“A roller rink?” He looked at you, brow raised.

You nodded your head up and down in excitement, “mhmm, they just opened up not too far from here, we should go!” In all your eagerness, you failed to notice the man next to you suddenly tense.

“Y-yeah let’s go check it out, it’s a date!” He beamed at you. I mean how could he ever say no when you looked so happy? In his mind though, Rin was a nervous wreck. Sure he’s done many other stuff in life like going to the arcade, playing survival games, rock paper scissors, on top of all of that, swimming, but he had never gotten a chance to go roller skating. Nevertheless, he would never actually admit that to you and smiled on, nodding to everything you had to say about it.

The next evening, you had quickly gotten ready, urging Rin to do the same. The moment you arrived at the rink, you had noticed the uneasy footsteps of your boyfriend while he walked up to the front desk with you close behind. After receiving your skates, you two made your way to the main rink. Now Rin was really starting to sweat. He didn’t want to look like a fool in front of you. He didn’t want you thinking he was a loser being a 19 year old and never even trying to skate. Lucky for him though, you had asked for the quads. Slowly, but carefully he stepped out onto the rink and somehow managed to make it off the rails. Glad that you were in your own little world, Rin tried to figure this whole skating thing out.

“Hey Rin! Come on!” Rin looked up in surprise. Somehow you had already managed to get to the middle of the rink. You held your hand out, inviting him to come join you. Trying to be as minimal as he could with his movements, while also trying not to seem awkward, Rin began to advance towards you. Suddenly, his footing slipped as he fell forward, bracing himself for the painful bruises to be met on his face, but never felt it as two arms latched onto his, holding him up.

“Um...you have...Uh...skated before right?” Rin’s entire face went red, refusing to meet yours, a sheepish expression on his features.

“Mph...idiot, does it look like I’ve ever had the time to.” You laughed at Rin’s tsundere antics and planted a small kiss on his nose, further worsening his state of embarrassment.

“Ah Rin it’s okay, really, I should’ve asked if you were comfortable beforehand...but it’s not too late to learn you know, I just recently got the hang of it too thanks to a friend of mine.” You gently lifted both of Rin’s hands, making him straighten his back, and while looking over your shoulder, you slowly began pushing your feet backwards, with Rin following along. Rin became entranced, in awe of how amazing you were.

Slowly, but surely, Rin began to get the hang of it and began skating without your assistance. You smiled, praising him, to which he told you to shut up already.

The lights dimmed and the music slowed, signaling a couples skate.

“Come on, we shouldn’t go against the flow.” You grinned and took Rin’s hand, leading him towards the sides of the rink. Hand in hand, the two of you slowed your pace to match the others and peacefully enjoyed the lights and music around you.

“Hey Rin?”

“Hmm?”

“I think you’re very cool by the way, usually it’s always you teaching me how to do things and on top of that, you’re going for the world stage in swimming, it doesn’t get cooler than that.” Instead of blushing, this time, Rin flashed you a sharky grin and ruffled your hair.

“Oh yeah? You think so? Then I’ve got a really cool partner who’s good at everything they do too.” You chuckled at that and the two of you returned your attention ahead, swaying side to side with the music, shoulders brushing and pinkies linked.~

A/n: omg that last part reminded me of that one scene in psych from the roller derby episode where in the end, Shawn and Juliet are doing a couples skate🥺 who knows what I’m talking ab!

Birthday Present

Genre: slice of life, slight angst, mainly fluff, oneshot

Summary: you and Rin had been "separated" for a while, but you decide to send him a birthday message to break the months long silence and you find out that the feelings you thought had died had in fact just kept themselves hidden...

Heyheyhey sweethearts, guess who's back! I'm not even going to try to explain why I've been absent for literal ages (I'm kind of lazy lol), but I hope you guys will forgive me - here's a cute lil birthday fic because I cannot forget my favourite boy's 02/02... I hope you enjoy!

Also, in case you guys want a part 2... you know what to do;) It's gonna be all about that steamy romance...

it's been a while since you and your ex boyfriend hadn't talked - you never really did break up per se, but the distance between the two of you had been growing larger and colder, to the point where you easily could have considered yourself single

the hectic life the two of you were living: you, with your impossible degree, him, with his impossible training routine, prevented either of you from thinking things trough too much

the busy life was essentially leaving no space for any doubts, nostalgia or sadness to sink in - everything was simply taken at face value, accepted, never once dwelled upon

nevertheless, although Rin felt like a distant memory, he somehow seemed a permanent figure in your life; at the back of your head, you were convinced that, if you were to get in touch and hang out, nothing will have changed

We could always pick things up again when things get better - it doesn't seem like he's seeing anyone anyway, and it's been ages already... I'm sure that he doesn't want to look for someone else

things never did get better, yet you could not resist the urge to pick up the phone once the date 02/02 appeared on your calendar

I had completely forgotten that it's his birthday... I should definitely text him, it'd be rude if I didn't, right...? Or rather... would it be weird if I did?

hesitating, you opened the chat window and pasted the message you had been carefully crafting for the past 45 minutes: you had decided on "Happy birthday~ Hope u didn't work too hard today!"

That should do it, I don't want to seem too cold but also not too serious... Or is this going to look too desperate?

after a good 10 minutes of pasting and deleting, you eventually made up your mind, and pressed enter

Ugh, fuck this, I'm just being polite, what the hell am I being all nervous about anyway?

you tried to play it cool, yet you still turned off notifications from his chat - you were, for one reason or another, dreading his response

Y/n, get a goddamn grip... you scolded yourself, upon checking if he had seen your message for the 600th time

eventually, you grew tired of being anxious over such a "trivial" matter, and decided to occupy your time with work, then go straight to sleep, notifications off

He's probably celebrating, he's obviously not gonna be checking his messages when he's with his family, he barely sees them anyway...

after not so good a night's sleep, you wake up much too early - so much so that the sun was still not yet up

you sighed at the realisation that you instantly felt a knot in your stomach, and decided to get up right away to make some coffee and breakfast - clearly, the hunger was the one to blame for the racing pulse as well...

anyhow, you set off to make some breakfast (which you almost burn to ashes because you were constantly spacing out) and then decide to finally check your phone

Matsuoka Rin 1:20 "Thanks, this time I ac..."

Fuck, he replied already - damn you y/n for turning off notifications, now you actually have to open the chat to be able to see the whole message!! you facepalmed yourself, regretting your lack of foresight

Ah, whatever, you know what, not a big deal, I'll just open it and-

*buzz*

just as you plucked up the courage to tap on the chat, a new message immediately pops up

R: "How have you been lately? It's been a while"

typing...

R: "Ah, shit, that was kind of awkward, sorry for double texting 6h later lol"

at one point, your expression changed from one of frustration to one of serious determination

you quietly pick up the phone and start typing

you swallow loudly as you send that last message

before you had the time to internalise this newly acquired realisation, the intercom rang

your breath got stuck in your throat, had you really managed to pull it all together?

but there was really no time left for you to ponder this, or anything at all for that matter

you decided to give in to the adrenaline that had taken over you

you straighten up your face and open the door

"Hey, sorry, just realised the kitchen was in a bit of a mess haha... Come in!" you plastered on the most convincing fake smile you could muster up

"Hey, don't worry about it," he greeted you with a polite expression of his own. "Thanks"

"I have some tea if you want? Also.. um... orange juice? A coffee? Just let me know"

you didn't really know how the conversation would begin - would either of them have to initiate it right away? Did they have to make awkward small talk for a while and hope that a right time for a transition would come?

"Thanks, but I'm alright for now"

"Ah, sure, let me know if you change your mind," was the best response you could conjure up then

not really knowing what to do with yourself, you sat down on the chair opposite to him, and moved some of the books that were on the coffee table a bit more to the side

neither one of you said a word during this time

Maybe I should just ask him what's up or something? What do I even start off with?

"Hey, y/n?"

you looked up at him, surprised. The chain of thought that you had had was broken, a knot forming in your chest

"You finally looked at me," he smiled. But, for some reason, it seemed rather bitter. No- not bitter, but perhaps, self deprecating.

you swallowed again, nerves building up with every passing moment

"I understand it if you're mad at me for dropping this on you out of the blue but I-"

"I'm not mad!" you interrupted him, your voice strained

Rin's eyes widened slightly at your reaction, and your cheeks grew hot at the realisation

"I'm not-I'm not mad at all, ok? Why would I be? I was the one who reached out anyway" you cleared your throat and straightened your back

"I'm just kind of quiet because I don't really know what to say... I mean, it's been a while and this was so out of the blue and everything"

"You really haven't changed," he chuckled sweetly. "But, I'm the same, I guess" he sighed. "It doesn't even feel like it's been that long though, don't you think? It does and it does not at the same time" he pouted. Why on earth would he pout at a time like this? How were his reactions so natural? You were surprised at the familiarity of the whole scene. You had expected to either see a stranger, or have your heart completely wrecked by the overwhelming amalgamation of memories and feelings flooding you. Instead, all you see is the same focused eyes, charming smile and relaxed manner of a person you had fallen in love with and cherished with your entire being.

"How did this happen?" you found yourself blurting out, as the feelings you had been holding back subtly began making their way back into your heart.

"I mean- how did... How did we even get so... far from the other?" you chuckled nervously and added: "It's not like anything happened, right? I swear, only we could have ended up being such dumbasses, hahaha," you tried to play off the nerves that were beginning to get the best out of you.

God I sound so stupid, but if I don't joke around I'm fucked, I can't make a scene here

"Yeah... it really was dumb, wasn't it?" again, that self-deprecating smile. You felt your heart being squeezed painfully tight - if only I could hug him better... You caught yourself thinking despite yourself

*sigh*

your attention was yet again shifted to the man in front of you

"That's better; you know, I really don't like it when you aren't looking at me, I really can't tell what you're thinking," he pouted again, jokingly. Your heart did a double take, and you curled your hands into fists - why the hell is he being so adorable?

"Look, um... So, actually... I was really thinking about this and... I - I think I never fully realised how important this whole ... thing we had ... was for me," he confessed, rather awkwardly. "I guess it only hit me when I found my thoughts trailing back to you constantly... but every time, I just somehow took for granted that even if we're not talking now that things aren't really over, you know? It's stupid, I'm awa-"

"...too," you mumbled, shyly.

to this, Rin gave you a confused look

"Huh?"

"I said, I said that I felt like that too - the taking for granted part, it was the same for me... I thought I wasn't bothered that you weren't in my life anymore, but that wasn't the case at all... I wasn't really bothered because I never really actually thought I'd lost you"

The knot in your throat was making it more difficult for you to breathe, and only made you acutely aware of how hard you were attempting to contain your feelings

"But now..." your voice cracked. "I'm so relieved to see you, to talk to you and to feel so at ease in your presence... I don't..." you felt your resolve wavering. Maybe you did want to let your tears fall and open your heart entirely to him. The fear that had accumulated in the pit of your stomach was pushing you to do everything it took - you knew you couldn't be able to take it if he left again.

"I don't... want to lose you again..." you hardly enunciated, your voice strained, your eyes stuck to the floor.

Rin had been watching you in awe the entire time. He was unsure whether he should be confused, surprised, happy or annoyed, but his gaze on you held a certain tenderness, untouched by the plethora of emotions going through his head.

"Y/n, look at me," his serious tone almost made your heart stop. Feeling tears, your eyes darted in every other direction, trying to avert them from falling.

"If you'd looked at me, you'd have noticed that you and I are both in the same boat" he chuckled. "You're not the only one worked up over this. Seeing you today... and especially hearing what you had to say..." he stopped, trying to find his next words. "Sigh... God, I must have been insane to cast you aside like that- who does such a thing to someone who makes their heart do the things mine is doing right now?" His gaze took on an intense air.

"Y/n, let's start again."

Inches of snow blanketed the streets, sidewalks, and houses, and the inches would only grow for the rest of the day and tomorrow

“Bunbun, it’s time to wake up, baby,” Rin softly whispered as he leaned down, hovering above his two year old daughter’s sleepy face

Her face poured and contorted, her eyes squeezing shut even more as she was pulled from her peaceful sleep by her father as he would be home while you were away

The bed was so dwarfed whenever he stood or sat by it to wake her but it was adorable as she was

Her red hair matching his, bright eyes matching his too

“Bunbun,” said once again as she brought her hands to her eyes, rubbing them before peeking them open to her father

“I’m still here,” he teased. “Come on, let’s get you ready for the day.” He effortlessly scooped her up and helped her brush her teeth, wash her face, and get dressed

And now it was time for hair, a part he wasn’t too confident himself in

Her hair was so soft and light, it was short down to her shoulders

She sat still on her stool as he stood behind her, a hair tie in between his teeth as he gently brushed it, stalling so he could think what he could do

“Why’d you set the bar so high, Y/N?” He thought to you, thinking about how you always beautifully did your daughter’s hair

But then it hit him with what he could do

He gathered the hair on the crown of her head into a single little pigtail

“Do you like it, bun? I can’t do it as well as mommy does but it’s still something.” He looked at her reflection as she tiredly looked through the mirror too

“You too, daddy.” She adorably tilted her head, pointing up to her dad’s hair that was loosely down

“Me? Want us to match?”

“Yeah!” She nodded happily, her little teeth adorable as her eyes turned into thin lines

And Rin did just that

He gathered his hair up with his little girl sitting on the counter before him, his body blocking the edge so there was no chance for her to fall

She clung onto his shirt, her smile only growing bigger and bigger the closer his hair was getting to matching hers

“Now we’re the same!” She cheered, giggly as can be as she reached up to him as Rin leaned down and scooped her into his arms

“Hm,” he hummed. “Now we really are papa and baby shark,” he bounced her playfully as they descended down the stairs, her small hands clinging to his shirt

And for the rest of the day, as Rin trained from home, the occasional smile broke out when he saw his daughter as she played in the corner

The little bedroom was illuminated out of the darkness, the automatic little night lights shutting off now that the bedroom light was switched on

Sosuke towered over all the small furniture in the cream colored bedroom, matching the rest of the aesthetic you had designed the house with, as he carried his little girl in her little charcoal gray onesie with faint white stripes

She latched her short arms around Sosuke’s neck, her hands clinging to the back of his white tshirt and her whale shark plushie, dark blue plaid pajama pants with black slippers on his feet

He bent over the miniature bed frame, moving his arms from below her body, to take hold of her sides

“Time for bed now,” his voice was tender with love as he set her body down to lay in bed but she still clung to him, some non-verbal whines coming from her as she refused to let go of her dad

“D/N, time to sleep,” a low chuckle escaping him as he rubbed her back, giving her small pats until she loosened her grip, setting Sosuke free

Her cheeks were puffed and eyes wide and glistening as she looked up to him, her hands that once hung to his shirt now clung to her blanket and blankie

“What’s wrong, hm?” He tucked her in, resting his arms over her covers as she looked at him as he knelt beside her bed, looking into her teal eyes that matched his own yet all she did was sniffle, staring back to her father as if he could read her mind

“Don’t cry, there’s nothing to cry about,” he soothed his little girl, holding the side of her head, leaning close to press a kiss to her head as he stood up

“Okay, daddy’s gonna leave now,” he hummed as he walked away, switching off the lights, the cool touch of metal on his hand but just before the door shut, he heard her voice

“Cuddle me,” she cried out, her little voice sounding off her walls as she made little grabby hands towards her father

“What?” He opened the door again, the light from the hallway pooling into the bedroom

“Cuddle!” her voice sounded and face looked so sad in his eyes, it actually broke his heart to see his little girl so distraught

“You wanna cuddle?” He stepped into the room, tilting his head in amusement as she crawled out of bed, kneeling on her bed, arms reaching toward her father as he approached her

“Yeah,” a hot tear cascaded down her cheek as she closed her arms around his neck, nuzzling close in the safety and comfort of his embrace

The biggest smile broke on Sosuke’s face as he sat in the miniature bed, doing his best to lay in it despite the sheer size difference but his daughter was happy and that was all that mattered

“Okay,” he chuckled low, chest rumbling as she laid draped over his abdomen, her hands once again holding onto his shirt as she rubbed her back

Sosuke held his little whale shark close as she laid on his chest, her little back rising and falling with every breath as she slowly began to sleep soundly against her father’s chest

Makoto:

“Good morning, babies,” your voice quiet as your little one year old son and daughter unsteadidly held onto the side of the crib, their olive brown hair messy and dissolved from sleep

They reached up, cooing at you to be picked up. After doing so, you changed them and brought them back to your bedroom where Makoto remained

You sat on the corner of the bed, careful not to wake him from the shifting of the bed as he slept soundly

The two babies reacted as soon as they saw their papa fast asleep and began crawling toward the big man fast asleep laid on his stomach, his arms buried beneath the pillows, his face and hair smothered into the comfy thing

Your son sat right beside Makoto’s sleeping face, reaching his little hand forward as he sucked on his pacifier, petting makoto’s face while your daughter worked on climbing onto his broad back she pulled on his shirt, doing the best she could but alas, couldn’t make it as she slid back down his side

Makoto stirred in his sleep until he jolted a bit to the side towards the edge, waking up from the sudden weight of his daughter, startling him

“Oh, it’s just you guys,” he sighed relieved

His heart pounded in his chest as he thought he was being attacked by some kind of monster, a sick nightmare turned reality but fortunately, he was wrong

“Morning, buddy,” Makoto smiled, his son’s eyes pulling into lines as he smiled with his pacifier in his mouth. “And morning to you princess. What’re you doing?” He asked

“She was trying to climb onto your back but couldn’t make it.”

“Aw, princess,” Makoto cooed as he turned onto his back, scooping up his little girl

He sat her on his stomach as she held onto his fingers

“Is this what you wanted?” He asked to which she happily giggled before laying herself down onto her father’s broad chest, hiding her face into his shirt

Your son seemed to not want to be left out as he attempted to crawl on too, whining a bit

“Don’t worry, I didn’t forget you,” makoto laughed a bit. “There’s plenty of room for the two of you.”

He did the same and sat his son on his abdomen, adoring them, seeing how messy their bed head hair was

Taking in the view of your family, your heart swelled twice the size but the sight also made you laugh as you looked at all three of them collectively

“What is it?” Makoto sat up a bit more, spooning his babies in his arms against him

“The three of you have bed head,” you laughed as you rolled into bed

This morning was so nice, you wish it never ended so you could stay in this precious moment with your babies and Makoto
