Rex watched from the corner of his eye as Padmé ran around the house.
"The folder is on the counter", he called, as she was pulling her boots on.
Her head snapped up, and she first grimaced, and then quickly morphed the expression into a smile.
"Oh, thank you", she said, and hurried over to said counter, her boots still unfastened. She didn't stumble at all, which Rex was quite impressed about. Then again, he had seen all the dresses and other costumes Padmé had been wearing for the majority of her life. She had practise.
She stood there by the counter for a moment longer, going through her bag, making sure she now had everything.
"Will you tell Anakin that Senator Milee has invited him at the dinner as well?" She asked. "They only now realised that they need to invite him separately."
"I will", Rex promised. "Your ship leaves in fifteen minutes."
Padmé grimaced again, and snapped her bag shut.
"I swear I didn't use to be this scatterbrained before", she said.
"I'm sure having two small children does that to you", Rex said. Padmé gave him a look.
"Hasn't done it to you", she pointed out. "Just as diligent as ever."
She finally fastened up her boots, and touched her hair quickly.
"Hopefully I will be done by the weekend", she said. "I would have the time to come visit then, when Anakin is here as well. We could all go out."
Rex tried not to feel dread about the idea. Things were better now. He needed to remember that.
"Could be fun", he said. "You're getting a call."
Padmé snatched her commlink, and glanced back at Rex.
"Give the twins kisses from me too", she said. She stepped closer to him, leaned over and gave him a very quick and light peck on the cheek, and was then out of the door, the call open as she hurried down the front steps of the house.
Rex blinked. He rubbed his cheek, that felt like it was tingling slightly, and got a smudge of lipstick on the back of his hand. He sighed.
"Will do", he said to the now empty house. Well, not empty, as the twins were upstairs, having their first nap of the day, but still. The sentiment was there.
He turned back towards the stove, and the mixed the vegetables simmering in the pan. The twins needed to be introduced to new flavours. Hopefully they would like brekka beets. Rex didn't need a repetition of what had happened last week with rootleafs.
The house was quiet. The sun was shining through the windows. There was a gentle wind outside. The water bubbled softly in the pan.
Rex leaned against the counter and closed his eyes.
There was a noise coming from the baby monitor on the kitchen table. Rex tensed and listened. A sniff, a grunt...silence.
He had just relaxed again when the noises happened again, and following them came a demanding cry. First from one baby, then from another, and then from both of them.
Rex opened his eyes, turned the stove off, and made his way upstairs.
At least Anakin would be coming over in the evening. Rex was going to make him watch the twins while he cleaned and took a nap. An uninterrupted one.
---
"You're invited to the dinner by Senator Milee", Rex said.
Anakin turned to look up at him from where he was sitting on the floor.
"Okay?" He raised his brow.
"Padmé told me to tell you", Rex said. "It's next week, on Primeday. Do you have something then?"
"I don't think so", Anakin said, and then went back to opening up the toy. It had stopped working in the morning, which Luke had not taken well, and after Rex had deduced that it wasn't because the battery had ran out, he had decided to make Anakin take a look at it once he came over. "I just don't understand why I'm invited."
"Because you're both working on the same campaing", Rex said. Because they thought that you two were still married since you have children together and officially live in the same house, he did not say.
"Right." Anakin popped the back of the toy open, and started to fiddle with something inside of it. He didn't ask why Padmé had not told him herself, which Rex was happy about. Maybe he just hadn't realised, or maybe he knew exactly why.
Rex needed to bite the bullet, in case it was the latter option.
"She'll try to come over during the weekend", he said. "She wants us all to go out."
Anakin stopped the fiddling for a moment.
"Okay", he said, and then went right back to it. "Could be fun. More eyes on the twins."
Rex looked down at the oven door. Why was this the second time today that he was standing in the kitchen, and having slightly uncomfortable conversations with the people who lived in the house on paper, but in real life slept their nights elsewhere?
He heard Anakin get up behind him, and he heard him walk closer to him, until he entered his field of view on his right.
Anakin leaned his elbow to the kitchen counter, and looked at Rex, then at the floor, and then back at Rex.
"I can watch the food", he said. "If you want to...sit down for a moment or something?"
He sounded unsure when speaking. That was one of the things Rex had not quite gotten used to yet. While Anakin had been his General, Rex had never heard him sound unsure about anything.
Well, anyway, Rex could take a moment to sit down.
"Sure", he said. Anakin nodded, and then reached his hand towards Rex. His thumb landed on the side of Rex's jaw just as Rex turned his head to see what he was doing.
He looked at Anakin, who was staring back.
"What?" Rex asked.
"You have something on your face", Anakin answered. "Something blue."
"Oh, yeah, we were doing crafts earlier", Rex said. "The twins got little excited about their new markers."
A small smile spread on Anakin's face as Rex said that. It was nice to see. Anakin smiled a lot less these days than what Rex was used to.
"Good to know you were having a fun time", he said, and wiped his thumb up along Rex's skin. "Go sit down."
He dropped his hand away from Rex's face, and Rex walked out of the kitchen, trying not to feel like there was a warm line itching at his jaw.

“We do now!!!!” You told him, rubbing your stomach
“Swee..sweetie are you serious?” He climbed over the desk grabbing you and pulling you between his legs.
“Yep!!! Surprise Kyo!!!”
He was a little shocked for a few minutes, you were telling him how excited you were but he could not register it. A kid, not one but three. Will they be like him? Scary? Will they think hes scary?!?
“Kyo?” You lightly tugged his shirt so he would look at you. “Kyo whats wrong?”
He squeezed you sighing deep. “Im nervous sweetie thats all.”
You laid your head on his chest. “Well.. i am too . But! I have you to help and you have me. Not to mention all your friends. “ you took his ring hand to hold it and nuzzled his sleeve. “I love you, we will be fine Kyo.”
Kyo took in a deep breath and kissed your head. “Yeah, we will. I love you so much sweetie.”
It was an interesting nine months for everyone. Kyo had gotten his friends together for beach volleyball one night , you were there too but you were sitting with a sundress on looking excited.
“Soo...” Iwaizumi said, rubbing his head. “Whats this about?”
Oikawa and Mattsun were stumped too, so was Yahaba. Bokuto was trying to piece it together as well.
You got up and turned to the side and Kyo put his hand on your stomach. “Well... lets just hope you can deal with more of me”
Safe to say Kyo got tackled into the sand by everyone.
Time Skip to the kids being 7.
💕Kyo and Reader still live in his home. Iwaizumi does too since he owns the basement half of the house.
💕Chicken Legs had trouble adjusting to the children but Readers cats have helped relax and calm him. He's not so shaky anymore.
💕King is the kids number one fan. He is always there to help them with a prank on their father or to help them up and down the stairs.
💕Rex gets brushed every five minutes and he *loves it*. Kana also likes putting ribbons on his tail.
💕Mango is carried around everywhere by Kaito because he is small and “fun to carry”
💕The twins get up to no good alot. Souta is like the wind, no one ever knows if he's gonna do something. Kaito is more calm, like the ocean . But just like his brother, he's right there to lend a hand in mischief
💕Kana is attached to Kyo and Readers hip nearly 24/7 because she is scared of everything. She was tiny at birth. A “runt of the litter” Kyo called it, which gave her the nickname “Kana Pup” by Kyo. Everything is bigger than her and she doesn't like it. She's scared of Oikawa and it makes him sad.
💕Kyo and Reader own a bigger building together that they turned into The Dog House. They sell apparel but with Readers designs now too. The kids hangout at the shop usually after school.
💕The building has an upper floor or office area where Reader works on new designs / manages the finances while Kyo works the floor.
💕Souta and Kaito spend their days greeting customers and telling them specials (as best they can) . If Kana is not with her mother she is with Kyo at the register coloring under the desk so no one can see her.
💕kyo does not know what to do about Kana, he's worried she won't have friends and isolate herself. Iwaizumi suggests a hobby or club for middle school and Oikawa suggests volleyball.
💕its at the beach Kana realizes how fun volleyball is. She even lets Oikawa show her how to play.
💕Mattsun still has his tattoo shop. Kyo now has a back piece too. It's three wolf pups .
💕Kana joins the volleyball club
💕the twins join an art club and it is very interesting to them . Souta & Kaito are naturals at coming up with designs
💕iwaizumi babysits when Kyo and reader need alone time at the house
💕every now and then Kyo will check in on his kids at night, he leans on the wall of the door just watching them sleep. It's been a few years since they were born and he's still dumbfounded he could make such blessings
💕Kanas first game is a little rocky, she's nervous about people watching her. That is until Bokuto yells for the stands ‘all eyes on you because you are the star of this court!!!’ . She pulls through and turns out she spikes just like her father. They win because of her. Reader cries tears of joy and the twins are going nuts , Kyo pulls reader close kissing her
💕The twins debut a simple design. It's a crow with its wings out with a chain collar on its neck. Their parents love it.
Time skip to HighSchool
💕The kids go to Karasuno
💕The twins are in a design/business club
💕Kana is the wing spiker of her team. She is tall like her father and brings her team to Nationals.
💕Mattsun has a pretty little happy girl come into his shop one day asking for a fluffy kitty tattoo . Mattsun thanks god this is happening and gets her number
💕Oikawa & Iwaizumi still work at the Dog House. Oikawa now has the same volleyball tattoo his friends have. Iwaizumi helps the twins bring their designs up to sell online
After High School.
💕Kana plays for the Black Jackals. The twins have a successful online business selling their designs on different things.
💕Kyo and Reader have expanded the Dog House and it has more locations now.
💕Every friday night they spend their time laying on Kyos car with music on watching the stars in their backyard.
The end 💕
Little bonus mini drabbles!!
“raaaa!!!!!” Yelled Kaito
“Aaaarrgg!!!!” Yelled Souta.
Kana had her ears covered and had Chicken Legs laying down next to her with his paw over his eyes. She was sitting on the floor coloring in her book when her siblings rushed down the stairs with toilet paper and heavy eye makeup on their face and body. King, Rex and Mango were close behind with equal amounts of toilet paper on them too. This was a regular saturday...
Iwaizumi was on the couch watching these terrors run around the house . He pat Kana on the head counting quietly. “And 5...4...3...2...1...” The garage door could be heard and the twins and dogs stopped. Heavy steps and giggling were getting closer.
“Kaito.”
“Yes Souta?”
“It appears we are going to die today”
“Yes i believe so.”
Kana peaked at Iwaizumi and he just gave her that smile that made her get red in the face. The door opened and you and Kyo saw your kids covered in toilet paper and makeup. The dogs too. Kyo rubbed between his eyes and you giggled going over to Kana who was holding her arms up to you.
“Souta?”
“Yes Kaito?”
“It was nice knowing you.”
“Likewise”
(Whenever Kyo asks Iwai why he allows this he just shrugs and says “hey they aint my kids 😋”)
*💕
Kyo had picked the kids up from school and went straight into work. No one minded that the kids were there, they behaved. Mostly.
“Welcome to The Dog House!!!” Yelled the twins“The finest dogs and the biggest house!!! At your service!!!!”
Youd never seen so many metal heads giggle and chuckle like little kids before. Kana though, was under the register coloring and leaning on her fathers leg. Kyo leaned on the register looking down at his daughter.
“Kana pup”
“Papa..?” She asked, looking up, brushing her hair from her face.
“Do you wanna greet customers with your brothers?
She shrugged pulling the book closer. “N-no..”
He rolled his shoulders looking back up to see his friends frowning at him.
“Maybe a club will help”
“Or volleyball!!!”
*💕
The twins were running around the beach with Mattsun chasing them , Kyo, Iwa, and Kawa were tossing the ball to each other. And you were sitting on a towel under an umbrella with Kana clinging to your arm. You had noticed she was fixed on what her father was doing and you signaled to get his attention and pointed at yoir daughter.
“Kana pup.” He said, catching the ball. “Cmere for a second.”
She shook her head and you rubbed her side.”just for a second baby.”
Kana gets up joining her father and he crouches down behind her. “Put your fists together , be still okay?”
“ dont.. wanna get hit..”
“You wont i promise.” He nodded to Iwaizumi and he lightly tossed the ball to Kana . “Now just move your wrist down. Then connect with the ball semding it up”
As soon as the ball hit her wrists she whined turning around to hug her father. “Kana, look.” He turned her head . The ball was in the air . “You did it.”
“I.. i hit it.”
“Maybe Oikawa can explain better.” He said, getting up and Oikawa crouched down next to her. Kana whined giving him a scared look and he just held his hands out to recieve the ball.
“Its easy, promise!” The ball bounced off his wrists.
After a few tries Kana got the positioning right and even asked Oikawa to help and show her more.
*💕
One night Mattsun is at his shop filling in his laptop with appointments, transactions, bills. Its late, maybe almost 10. He liked to stay open when he had late nights like this. No one ever came by but.. it made him hope someone would. Mattsun was covered head to toe in tattoos. The bell dinged and he looked up from his desk and fell forward.
It was a girl; pink shoes, dyed highlighted pink hair, a white belly top and shorts. “Hey Mr!!!! Can i get a tattoo please?! A fluffy kitty or kitten? Do you do those? “
Mattsun smiled up at his ceiling . “Whoevers watching , thank you.”
He looked back over at the huffy girl. “Yeah i can do that Kitty, let me get a sketch going and you can tell me what you think.” He said with a very big smile. “Whats your name?” He asked , going around his desk to his wheely chair .
“Y/n!! “ the girl skipped over sitting in the chair criss cross. “Can you do it here?” She pointed to her inner thigh .
Mattsun thanked whoever was watching over him again but in his head. “I sure can y/n. I sure can.”
“No no!! Kitty!! I like it.”
Mattsun had a silly grin on his face now. “Okay kitty”
*💕
Its late at night and the only one up is Kyo. He was leaning on the wall watching his kids, ‘how did i get here?’ He asked himself while eyeing his bruised knuckles. Slowly he looked up. “I love you guys so much...”
“And i love you.” He heard behind him. A giggle too.

——————————————————————————————
Summary:  When Tup murdered General Tiplar during a battle, Anakin Skywalker and Captain Rex dispatched Ahsoka, Fives, and Yara to solve the mystery that was plaguing the Clone Army. Meanwhile, Senator Padme Amidala contacted Commander Fox, Commander Tori, Riyo Chuchi, and Dipper to help her continue investigating the death of Palpatine, suspecting that Dooku was behind the evil plot. But when Dooku send an ISB agent to stop them, the team had to race against time to search for the truth, which could alter the course of the galaxy.
————————————————————————————
“So, how are we getting inside?” Tori asked, sitting next to Fox in speeder. “Like, what’s the plan?”
Fox turned to her in a blank eye, his brows furrowed. “Do you ever pay attention, Tor? Like, are you always daydreaming whenever you’re being brief about something important?”
“You never even told us,” she crossed her arms as she tapped Dipper’s sleeves, catching the ARC Trooper’s attention. “Dip, please tell me what Commander Fox said about this stealth mission?”
Dipper lifted his shoulders, holding a datapad in his hands. “He only told us that Riyo and I were the ones who will sneak into the Chancellor’s penthouse and grab the files from there. You two were supposed to watch the speeder in case things go wrong.”
Pouting her lips, she focused her gaze towards the view of the city, which was much livelier than last night. There were people pacing up and down the streets, going about with their daily life, while the lights from skyscrapers and houses were lit. Tori couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
There were schoolchildren clad in uniforms rushing towards their classrooms while office workers had their blazers and blouses on, carrying their datapads and briefcases. This was like how it was 6 months ago, before the war came to the capital of the Republic, which the Empire tried to crumble with their iron fists.
As long as they were people fighting for the Republic, then it still exists to Tori, Fox, Riyo, and Dipper. Riyo saw the smiles on the citizen’s faces, which made her lips curled downwards. She enjoys seeing others happy, but somehow, she doesn’t share their sentiments.
Are they really content with their life? The former senator pondered, glancing at the little Rodian boy, who was enjoying his ice-cream underneath the sunny day, which reminded her of home.
Riyo misses the paddy fields on Pantora. Her father used to harvest a massive field of rice, and brought a sack of harvest for the entire family. It wasn’t much, but she enjoyed the rice that was grown just kilometres away from her village home. If her father was lucky, he would also bring some eels, which tasted juicy.
“So once Dipper and I got the files, does that mean we’re leaving Coruscant?” she asked Fox.
“Yes, dear, we’re bringing Senator Amidala with us after this,” Fox affirmed. “We can’t stay here for too long. It’s not safe for all of us here.”
“So, what do we do with the files? Padmé did suggested us to show them to the Imperial Senate.”
“I know she did, but the general’s order was to get the senator out of the planet and head back to base. It’s too risky to head into the Senate building. We don’t even know what’s waiting for us down there.”
“Foxy has a point,” Tori agreed. “This planet is under heavy surveillance. If we are caught, then it could compromise not only the location of our base but also the number of our army as well. We’ve lost so many soldiers in battle, and we can’t afford to lose anymore.”
Riyo frowned from their answers, making Fox sighed. “Look, I understand you want to help your friend, and I’m all for it, but we also need to think about us as well. I know it seems selfish, but we can’t always have it all.”
“I understand, dear,” she gave a weak smile. “Let’s hope our plans go smoothly. We don’t want anyone interfering with it.”
Dipper chirped. “Don’t worry about it. By the time the Imps realized it, we would already be long gone by now. I have a good feeling that we will successfully escape from Coruscant with ease.”
“Fingers crossed on that. I really don’t want to be interrogated by the Imperial secret police. From what I heard, no one made it out alive.”
“Speak of the devil, and he will come to you,” Tori scolded Riyo. “We don’t want any sort of trouble during this mission.”
It better not, Fox hoped, as he drove in mid-air, searching for Palpatine’s penthouse through his scope. He had been there many times before, and memorised every single room in his building, including the bathroom. He was in charge of security along with Thorn, which was important for him to know the building schematic. He never said his last goodbyes to Thorn, or spent their last moment together before the latter was gone.
On the other hand, he wasn’t particularly sad that Palpatine died, but if those files mean turning the tide of the war, then he has no other choice. I hope his misdeeds were recorded, so that everyone knows what a terrible man he was.
As Fox noticed the penthouse’s balcony from afar, he slowed down the speeder, driving away from the highway. “We’ll be arriving in 5 minutes,” he informed them. “Get into position.”
“Yes, Commander,” Dipper saluted, as he gave a wink at Riyo, who was clutching her hands together. “Don’t worry. I’ve done this kind of mission before. You’ll befine, Riyo. We believe in you.”
“May the Force be with all of us,” she prayed, as they arrived in front of the lobby, which was on the ground floor. With silence surrounding them, the former senator noticed plenty of overgrown weed between the bricks on the grounds.
No one was inside the apartments, except for the complete void inside. There were people here when the Chancellor was still alive. Did the Empire forced them out as well?
Fox and Tori glanced at them, giving them a nod. “Good luck, and be careful,” Tori said. “We don’t know what’s in there.”
“We will, commander,” Dipper acknowledged, as he gestured to Riyo to follow him inside the abandoned apartment.
As they stepped inside the lobby, both of them noticed the red carpet was torn, covered in fungus. The paint on the walls was peeled off, and the fluorescent lights were hanging on the ceiling, waiting to crash on the floor.
“It looks scary in here,” Riyo commented, glancing at the vacant receptionist counter. “What do you think happened here?”
Dipper observed many blast marks in the room's corner, clicking his tongue. “Whatever it is, I doubt the tenants here left voluntarily,” he replied as he turned towards the lift and pressed the button, much to her bewilderment.
“Are you sure this lift is working?”
Before he could answer, the lift door opened, with the background music playing and the golden lights working. “Well, looks like your question is answered, Ri. After you.”
“Thank you, kind sir,” she smiled and walked inside, pressing the button that leads all the way upstairs. “I’m surprised there’s still something working here. I wonder who switched on the power?”
Dipper felt uneasy as they arrived at the penthouse, which was well kept, despite no one living there for months. He felt the cooling air coming from the air-conditioning and the scent of nutmeg lingering, prompting him to draw out his blaster.
“Riyo, I don’t think we’re alone,” he warned her. “Stay closer to me.”
“Alright then,” Riyo bobbed her head, holding a blaster as well. “The files could be in his studies, but we have to be careful not to trigger the sensors.”
“That’s why I’m here,” he took out his Onderonian army knife, as he tiptoed towards the study room, where everything on the bookshelves were arranged in order.
Riyo remembered how the place was. She attended a party in the Chancellor’s penthouse, where many of her colleagues were there, along with close associates. There was champagne and wine, and she only had a sip of the sweet alcohol. She also had some cream puffs at the party, and offered them to Fox, who was in charge of security. He enjoyed the pastry, and Riyo would love to make them for him, when there’s a place to bake, of course.
“The sensors are on the top shelf. Maybe that’s where the files are.”
“Good eye, senator,” Dipper praised. “I’ll disable it for you.”
“Alright,” she took a deep breath, as she wore her rubber gloves, which won’t leave any trace of fingerprints. Riyo never done a stealth mission before, and she will not fail their team.
Stretching his arms, the ARC Trooper flipped the switch behind the small, black sensors, deactivating it. Using his screwdriver on the pocket knife, he slowly removed them from his shelf, tossing them aside. Riyo searched through every file from the bookshelves, starting from the letter ‘A’.
Audits for Coruscant, Audits for Alderaan, Banking Clan accounts, well, that’s a lot of files that start with the letter ‘B’. Bursary Market, Core World populations…
Dipper tapped his foot as Riyo was still searching through the files. He never thought it wouldn’t take long, but he was mistaken. He always thought anything involving paperwork was easy, but it was otherwise. Counting files from ‘A’ to ‘Z’ was quite a challenge for the both of them, and time is not on their sides. Now I understand why Commander Fox hated paperwork so much.
“The Death of the Young twins, Grand Army of the Republic Protocols,” Riyo muttered underneath her breath, wiping her sweat on her forehead. “Project Cyborg, Project Starfleet, wait, I think I found it.”
“You did?” his face lit up. “Can I see?”
“Yeah sure, the file was named The Assassination of Chancellor Palpatine,” she showed him. “It was pretty easy to find it, if you ask me.”
“Yeah, sure,” he groaned, his clammy hands still gripped on his pistol. “I still think this was too easy. I have a funny feeling something bad is going to happen to us soon.”
“We should head to the lift,” Riyo reminded, hiding the files underneath her blazer. “We can’t keep Fox and Tori waiting.”

Jeremy Bamber’s deluded cheerleaders are a disgrace – he IS guilty of monstrous White House Farm murders – The Sun
THE scene that greeted the police was one of almost unimaginable, blood-soaked carnage. Once officers had entered the remote Essex farmhouse on the morning of 7 August 1985, they discovered five murder victims, all of whom had been shot dead. 14 An emotional Jeremy Bamber at the funeral of his victims, where he was comforted by girlfriend JulieCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd14 His crocodile tears are depicted in ITV’s upcoming show White House FarmCredit: ITVOne slumped body, that of a middle-aged man, had also been battered repeatedly with the butt of a rifle. In total, the killer had unloaded 25 bullets from a semi-automatic weapon during this lethal rampage. At first, the police suspected the culprit was one of the victims, Sheila Caffell, a former model with a long history of mental illness. According to their initial theory, she had been so deranged by a psychotic episode that she had gunned down her six-year-old twin boys, Nicholas and Daniel, as well as her adoptive parents Nevill and June Bamber, before she put the rifle to her own throat and pulled the trigger. This was a narrative that Sheila’s half-brother, 24-year-old Jeremy Bamber, eagerly relayed to the police. Indeed, on that fateful August night, Jeremy Bamber, who lived in cottage near his parents’ farm, had telephoned the local Essex station, telling them that his father had just rung to say Sheila had “gone beserk” with a gun. 14 Sheila Caffell and her twin sons Nicholas and Daniel died in the sickening shootingsCredit: Times Newspapers Ltd14 White House Farm was the scene of a bloodbath in August 1985Credit: PA:Press AssociationBut, as revealed in new ITV drama White House Farm, which begins this week, suspicion soon began to fall on Jeremy rather than Sheila. His champagne-fuelled hedonistic behaviour, featuring several holidays abroad, in the aftermath of the murders was not that of a grieving son, despite his dramatic tears at the funeral. He also had a clear motivation for the killing, since he stood to inherit his parent’s £436,000 farm. Moreover, the evidence piled up against him, including both incriminating testimony from an ex-girlfriend and the discovery in a cupboard at the farm of a rifle silencer with specks of Sheila’s blood on it. The silencer appeared to absolve Sheila. There was no way she could have lain on the ground, shot herself twice, then stood up, removed the silencer from the rifle, and hidden it away before she died. 14 Model Sheila ‘Bambi’ Caffell was the initial suspect in the killingsCredit: Rex FeaturesMonstrous barbarity With such an overwhelming case against him, Jeremy Bamber was duly convicted in 1986 and sentenced to 25 years. Later this was raised to a “whole life” term, which means that he will probably never be released. In fact, given his youth at the time of the killings, he may end up serving the longest sentence in British penal history. But that is no more than he deserves, given the scale of his monstrous barbarity. 14 Jeremy Bamber is driven to his trial in 1986Credit: Rex FeaturesHis is one of the most gruesome but compelling sagas in the annals of British crime, which is why the new ITV production should make for powerful viewing. The series stars Cressida Bonas as the vulnerable Sheila Caffell, while Bamber is played by the dashing Freddie Fox, who brings out the murderer’s mix of dark charm and cruel psychopathy. Sheila’s estranged husband Colin Caffell recently described Bamber as an “extremely seductive and charismatic person”, which helps to explain why he initially fooled the Essex police.Deluded campaign Yet he is still fooling people. Despite the strength of evidence against, there is a noisy campaign to have Bamber declared innocent. Peddling its propaganda through websites, social media, and left-wing journals, this deluded brigade argues that Bamber is the victim of a “miscarriage of justice.” He did not receive “a fair trial” because the proceedings against him were “highly irregular”, says the veteran human rights activist Peter Tatchell, while Eric Allison, patron of the official Bamber Campaign, calls the failure to release all the documents in the case “a shocking state of affairs.” 14 Cressida Bonas plays victim Sheila in the drama14 Freddie Fox as Bamber in White House Farm14 The wedding of Sheila Bamber to Colin Caffell, whose children were murdered at the farmCredit: AlamyBizarre conspiracies A vast range of conspiracy theories are said to be behind Bamber’s unsafe conviction, including a police cover-up, the greed of relatives angry at Bamber’s inheritance, the spite of his ex-girlfriend Julie Mugford, and shadowy political vested interests. This is all offensive nonsense. The campaign is not only a moral disgrace but also had not a shred of justification. It is shameful to see these zealots lining up behind a child killer whose defence is so threadbare and whose record is so evil. In 2002, when the Court of Appeal upheld the original verdict for the second time, the judges declared, “The more we looked into this case, the more likely it seemed that the jury was right.” Those words are just as correct today. 14 White House Farm as seen in the new drama seriesEven Bamber’s own shrill defenders admit that there are only two possible suspects: him or Sheila. But the idea that petite Sheila, who suffered from anorexia, was capable of such violence is laughable. She had no interest in guns, no experience of using them. Nor could she have got into a struggle with her 6 foot 4 inch tall father Nevill. Her feet, hands and nightdress were almost free of blood and gun residue, hardly indicator of someone who has been on a shooting spree. And even Bamber’s staunchest supporters have no convincing explanation for the discovery of the silencer, beyond the usual lurid claims that it was “planted.” 14 Jeremy Bamber still protests his innocence despite the evidenceCredit: Handout14 Mark Stanley as grieving father Colin Caffell’Afraid to turn back’ on Bamber On the other hand, Jeremy Bamber was used to handling guns, had an air of menace about him and harboured a deep hostility towards his adoptive parents. “I must never turn my back on him,” Nevill once said, fearing that “there might be a serious shooting.” Bamber planned the whole killing spree meticulously, from disconnecting the phones at the farm to stop any emergency calls to misleading the police at the scene with his talk of Sheila being “a nutter”. In fact, he eagerly told his girlfriend at the time, Julie Mugford, what he contemplated saying, “tonight or never,” as she later reported to the police. The “Bamber is Innocent” mob argue that Ms Mugford acted purely out of revenge, Bamber having dumped her soon after the murders. But it is highly unlikely that she would have risked a perjury charge in such a serious murder case on such an emotive basis. 14 Nevill and Juen Bamber were slaughtered alongside their daughter and grandchildrenCredit: Collect14 The bloody case left Britain in shockCredit: News Group Newspapers LtdChilling echoes of murderer Tellingly, the late Bob Woffinden, a forensic journalist with a record of fighting miscarriages of justice, used to think Bamber was innocent, but later became convinced of his guilt, after he researched the story in depth. “I am now certain that the murderer was indeed Jeremy Bamber,” Woffinden wrote in 2011. Those who still cling to the belief in a miscarriage of justice should remember the case of James Hanratty, who went to the gallows in 1962 for murder and rape in a lay-by off the A6 after he hijacked a car at gunpoint. Yet in 2002, advances in DNA proved conclusively that Hanratty was in fact the A6 killer. The campaign for Hanratty had been utterly baseless.   If the ITV drama has any integrity, it will reinforce the same grim truth about Bamber.
