I just rewatched Revenge of the Sith and was suddenly struck with a theory I needed to share with the world.  So Padme’s ‘death by broken heart’ is obviously a dumb move done for the Doylist reason of getting the Skywalker’s mom out of the way for the OT to make sense, but what if we’re reading her cause of death wrong?  In the film, Anakin’s surgery and the twin’s births are happening concurrently, implying that the two events are happening at the same time. We are told by the med-droid for Padme that while she is physically healthy, she still seems to be dying for no discernible cause. Meanwhile Anakin, who is mostly 4th degree burns, is miraculously alive against all odds.
Let’s also remember that the film makes a point of seeding the fact that the Sith know how to perpetuate life unnaturally, and that Sidious specifically knows this ability.
So, given that Anakin was also closely bonded enough with Padme to receive visions of her imminent demise (and also his kids are currently in her), what can we infer?
I’m split on two options relating to the same basic premise: one more likely and one more tragic. The first is that Sidious did use the life perpetuating techniques he learned from Plagueis, but instead of saving Padme he siphoned the life from her into his new Apprentice, killing her in the process. This would be the most likely outcome; it removes a pesky bond Sidious would have to deal with, it keeps his long term investment alive, and we know he knows how to do something involving keeping a person alive unnaturally.
But wouldn’t it be more fucked up if Anakin did it himself, in the throes of agony post-burning, trying to find any way to stay alive? A mind in a frenzied state, reaching out to the brightest, most unprotected light in it’s vicinity and *taking* it. The only real supporting evidence for this one would be that Palpatine specifically mentions that *Anakin* was the one to kill her post-resurrection, but Palpatine is the most liar liar to ever lie so this option is mostly riding of sheer tragic irony. Padme’s last words are that there’s still good in Anakin, as he’s actively killing her, it’s terrible and I love it.

actually, might add an AU where i change the events of phantom menace slightly so that maul still kills qui-gon, but he never fights obi-wan (maybe qui-gon told obi-wan to leave naboo with anakin to get him to safety? idk, it's an AU so the details aren't hugely important tbh) which, in the big scheme of things, doesn't change much except maul would still be allied with palps and carrying out his orders and so on

So how did Doom come across the ‘god’?
ok, tbh this whole 'avatar of cosmic eldritch god' is more of a weird brainchild then anything and because star wars needs more cosmic horror weirdness. it's space, the fun is right there. That and his name is fuckin Doom.
I had this idea that Doom's battalion spends a lot of time in the outter rim getting into weeeeeiiiirddd shit. (I know the battle of Ringo Vinda is Mid Rim, but hey, they were close by and were called in or something) His whole battalion is one of those that's gets thrown into very wild territories, which is also why they have 2 masters with them and it somehow ended up with him being interesting enough to attract the attention of a something. I'm not sure how the whole encounter happens, just that Doom is absolutely terrified at the start and that the thing has a strange fascination and fondness for him, which translates into Doom floating from time to time and glowing in the dark and he might be immortal now?
Who knows, he's not really human anymore and I'm pretty sure he could just obliterate palps without even understanding what is happening. For eldritch creature thing it would be like swatting a fly away, not really noticable, but an active action nontheless.
The only other thing I know is that he ends up guarding the graves of his battalion as an unmoving figure after o66 and has kinda lost the last bit of humanity he had before.
Maybe one day I'll sit down and actually think this whole thing through, for now he's just very shit at stealing food from the fridge at night because his eyes will accidentally turn into flashlights.
his siblings and battalion are used to it

you know what i just realized?
star wars can do whatever they want right? what if they made Kanan a villain? what if they pull some “thrawn found kanans body in the wreckage and put him back together like vader, and now he’s evillll and coming to hunt us downnnn~”
and if star wars did this i would automatically quit star wars for good. leave kanan to rest, let ezra rest for fuck sakes you bastards

@impedimentum sent "you’ll never leave me ,  right ?" ( from luke ! ) | Morbid curiosity meme | Accepting!
Tumblr media
Even though she knew their first day at school was the first of many, Padmé was still struggling to keep tears out of her eyes as they dropped off the twins at one of Coruscant's best primary schools. Leia had trotted right in, full of confidence and curiosity, but Luke...
He was hanging back, just outside the doorway with his parents, his blue eyes looking between Anakin and Padmé as though he could sense any untruth they might tell. He'd asked when they could go back home. She'd patiently explained that he would be staying here until the afternoon, and then they'd be back to pick him and Leia up.
The next words out of her sweet boy's mouth nearly broke her heart. "But you'll never leave me, right?"
Kneeling down, she took him into her arms and pressed a kiss into his sandy blond hair. "We would never leave you, Luke. You're just going to school now, like all the other kids your age. But someone will always be there when school ends to come take you and your sister home, whether it's me, your dad or Threepio."

Some fun behind the scenes stuff for Dead Brothers Coalition, brought to you by my frantic reread to make sure I manage to resolve everything that needs it:
In Time Wounds All, when Echo has just barely come back to full consciousness, Echo starts to speak but Droidbait doesn’t catch what he says - Echo was trying to ask where Fives was
In Time Flies, the Jedi didn’t know Cutup was Cutup at all (he suspects that for a hot second but it’s mostly that Shaak Ti looked at him like “dang you’re familiar” but as revealed later that connection wasn’t made until after they heard about Droidbait) but they did think he was lying about being a Kaminoan Guard, and was possibly some kind of Force-sensitive - the idea was that maybe either the Kaminoans had secretly made Force-sensitive clones and the Jedi should worry about betrayal from those quarters, or that the clones were hiding Force sensitivity from everyone. obviously neither was true but it sparked a Lot of debates until the “time travel” thing came out
In Borrowed Time, when Fox talks about the senator who’s paranoid after The Food Poisoning Incident, he does not mention the part where he’s the one who caused said food poisoning incident so he would have a low-stakes reason to get Flex offworld so he could desert. All attempts on the senator’s life were fabricated, and also highly satisfying because that guy was a dick
(actually, also in Borrowed Time, the part where Fox says “we don’t need more bodies” is something Hevy read as being derisive towards him, when it was in fact a scathing assessment of clones being treated as cannon fodder. This one is subtext you may or may not have gotten but I think about that line a lot)
(also also the people who get Flex offworld are more of my ocs though they never quite make it onscreen. the currently unnamed twi’lek from my oc-centric wip is the one who swears and climbs up a dumpster.)
Ok last thing about Borrowed Time but Fox fully expected Nel to tell Hevy about Fives as soon as they found out, and didn’t expect Nel to keep it secret for him. He cultivates loyalty very purposefully but doesn’t think of it as real, or something that might outweigh personal loyalty to someone else

Spork Leia's adventures so how badly hurt was the chancellor and how suspicious is the Jedi high council of the chancellor after a 12-year-old that shouldn't exist attacked him.
palps is fully just dead. leia's an absolute menace with a spork
Tumblr media
the council are very suspicious bc when they were inspecting the crime scene they found a file called "my_evil_plan.pdf" and there was a very significant proportion of it dedicated to eviling the clones and turning the jedi into target practice for said clones. which most ppl would consider a tad sus

So… remember a really long time ago I had this Fox/Vos Hades and Persephone AU idea?
Fox - King of the UnderWorld with the Clones (not dead just forbidden from the Above)
Vos - One of the few remaining Knights of the Mother (Earth, Creation goddess, Gaia etc)
The Emperor(Palps) of the Above gave The Knight to the King of the Underworld to appease him (and keep Fox’s from messing up his eeevil plans on earth for all humans Above, because Fox and his army of millions can and will fuck shit up)
The Knight isn’t amused with the arrangement. Neither is the Underworld’s King.
No one is surprised by this.
But they’ll need each other in order to stop the emperor and maybe save both their worlds.
So.. yeah. I finally felt like finishing this art to go with the idea.

No Tears for the Southern Black Widow
Latrodectus mactans, more commonly known as the southern black widow, is the most common species in the black widow family. While it can be found throughout North America, they are found most often in the southern United States. Within this wide range, L. mactans enjoys a variety of habitats. They prefer areas that are close to the ground, dark, and sheltered; in the wild this may mean dense brush or under logs, while in inhabited areas they may be found in basements, log piles, or under trash lids.
In addition to being the most common black widow, L. mactans is also the largest member of the family Theridiidae. The females are larger than the males, averaging at about 8-10 mm (0.31- 0.39 in) in length and weighing about 1 g (0.04 oz); however the male's legs are generally longer than the females. Both males and females are black, with small thoraxes and extremely large, round abdomens. The female can be distinguished by the iconic red hour-glass shape on the underside of her abdomen, while the male has 4 pairs of red and white stripes on each side of his abdomen.
The southern black widow is mainly solitary, spending most of its time in or near its web. Only the females live long enough to build a web for catching prey, and are the sole source of black widow bites. While bites do require medical attention, no human fatalities have been reported since 1983.
During the day, females hang in the center of the web to expose the bright red warning on their abdomen; when startled they drop to the ground and play dead. Though the webs they construct are haphazard-- the stereotype of cobwebs-- they are extremely strong and are capable of catching woodlice, millipedes, centipedes, other spiders, and occasionally small mice. Once an animal becomes trapped in L. mactan's web, the spider envenoms its prey and wraps it in a thick cocoon. After the animal dies the spider injects it with digestive enzymes and consumes the resulting fluid. Despite their strong venom, the southern black widow can be victim to several predaotrs; namely wasps, the brown widow spider, praying mantises, and large centipedes.
The southern black widow mates primarily in the spring and summer. Mature males build small webs and deposit semen along the threads. He then coats his mouthpieces-- palps-- with sperm and sets out to find a female mate. To court her, he vibrates the threads of her web until she is receptive. On rare occasions, a displeased female may eat the male. Afterwards, if he survives, the male leaves the females web and dies soon afterwards. From just one encounter, the female can store enough sperm to last her a lifetime of reproductive cycles.
After fertilization, the female builds a small web where she lays her egg sac, which can contain up to 400 eggs. She guards these eggs until they hatch about 20 days later, and immedietly disperse to establish their own territories. Until they become fully mature, at about 90 days old, juveniles have no venom and are extremely vulnerable to predators- including adult black widows. Typically only about 30 individuals from a single clutch survive to adulthood. Once mature, males can live for only one year, while females can live up to three years in the wild.
Conservation status: The IUCN has not evaluated the southern black widow, but due to its large range and population size it is considered stable. It is able to adapt to most habitats, and thus the species' only threat comes from extermination via pest control.
If you send me proof that you’ve made a donation to UNRWA or another organization benefiting Palestinians, I’ll make art of any animal of your choosing.

AU where Anakin kills Palpatine and stays a Jedi and stays on the Council. And then begins to get along with various members of the Council.
Like, Palps is dead, right? And Mace loves theater, so Anakin and Mace start going to shows together and then grabbing dinner together afterward to discuss his performance. And then Kit recruits Anakin to join his water polo team (of whatever the Star Wars equivalent is), and then Shaak invites Anakin to help her organize the Temple lightsaber tournament, so they start having these long meetings over lunch. And then Plo and Saesee are also really into piloting, and so they and Anakin decide to relaunch the Temple piloting program with Anakin as one of the instructors.
And meanwhile, Obi-Wan struggles not to feel jealous that Anakin used to be his exclusive BFF, but now he barely sees Anakin anymore because everyone else has realized something they have in common with Anakin.

I hate to be That Guy but Project Necromancer is Palpatine's plan to clone himself so he can transfer his essence to the clone and basically live forever in new host bodies. He fails because the clones couldn't sustain his force abilities and a) were useless to the power hungry bastard and b) kinda fell apart once he tried to inhabit them with all of his evilness. Rey's dad was one of those clones but Palpatine was so disgusted with his complete lack of force sensitivity that he didn't try to inhabit the body. And then somehow Rey wound up with as much force power as grandpa despite/because she wasn't a clone.
It's referenced in a bunch of things but named specifically in Mando season 3. It's why the imperial remnant is after Baby Yoda - they need a sample with a high m-count to study and/or use so they can clone Palpatine.
If Omega - a clone - has a high m-count (presumably one that was engineered into her), that would change the entire game for Palpatine if he got his hands on her.
So anyway Project Necromancer isn't about Tech. I wish it was. But Palps probably has no idea who Tech is and certainly doesn't care.
(And Tech doesn't need any of Palpatine's creepy science to come back from the dead because he is Not Dead in the first place and no one will convince me otherwise)

god i wish they hadn't retconned maul's death. i get wanting to explore more of his character because he was, objectively, one of the coolest star wars characters to ever hit the big screen and didn't get much screentime prior to his death, but also his role was fulfilled perfectly within those constraints so i wasn't too upset by it.
but by retconning it and making it so he never died it's like. okay. what now? the whole point (well, to me, ymmv of course) of the theed generator fight was that it was the first ever fight between the jedi and the sith in thousands of years, and that in the end even though the jedi (obi-wan) won the fight, a jedi (qui-gon) and a sith (maul) still died. a master and an apprentice dying together to herald the start of a new age/the return of the sith. perfectly paralleling the way in rotj a master (palps) and an apprentice (anakin/vader) died together to herald the return of the jedi. in both instances, a father figure (qui-gon/vader) dies in the arms of their son (obi-wan/luke) as a sith (palps/maul) is cast down into the abyss to their deaths. (palps being alive in the ST and retconning his death in rotj is also annoying for this reason)
i mean i like maul. don't get me wrong. he's an incredibly compelling character and i enjoy seeing more of him... but there's always the thought hovering in my mind like "he should be dead though. he should 100% be dead. this wouldn't be happening if he was dead, but i honestly would rather it not if it meant that maul was dead."
like the tpm fight just doesn't hit the same knowing that canonically he's just. going to become a robot octopus at some point. (shoutout to palps becoming sith glados in the ST) it cheapens the moment for me. it was supposed to be a moment of triumph marred by the deep and soul-crushing loss of a loved one and it's just... not, anymore. or at least not to the same extent. AUGH i'm just. frustrated. wish star wars as a whole wasn't constantly reframing/retconning what's been established. just puts a bad taste in my mouth.
