Today I went to an "Asian-style" restaurant with my colleagues, where we got this platter of prawn crackers to start us off, and I got a Thai green curry for my main. I'm proud of myself because I only had 3 prawn crackers, where before I'd probably have kept eating them until they were all gone. I also left a small amount of rice and let someone else eat the last tandoori chicken skewer from the plate we got to share because I could recognise that I was full.
Honestly, I'm so proud of myself for making this much progress with my binge eating. I still have a way to go before my diet is truly healthy and balanced, but the fact I can go out for a meal and not eat everything on the sharing platters and stop eating when I'm full instead of eating everything on my plate feels like a big achievement!

Best Food to Eat at Changi Village Hawker Centre.
If you find yourself on the east coast of Singapore, or are simply hunting down an area that offers a plethora (and variety) of different types of food, you’ll want to head to the Changi Village area. Not only is the super popular Changi Village Hawker Centre here where you’ll find an array of cuisines for super affordable prices, but there are many other eateries and cafes that are in close proximity, making things super convenient for an expedition of eating!
Tumblr media
From seafood to local favourites, foods from around the world and more!
1. In the mood for seafood?: Tekong Seafood Restaurant
Why is it whenever one is near the ocean, the idea of feasting on seafood sounds so appealing?! This is one of our personal favourites to visit around Changi for whenever our craving hits! Plus, all of their produce is caught fresh, on the daily, by local fisherman.
We recommend their Chili Crab (chef’s kiss), or we’ll usually order the Bamboo Clams in Vermicelli too.
__
Stall number:  #01-03
2. Favourites and the classics from around the world: Jacobs Cafe
This is one of those dining spots that simply can’t be missed when visiting the centre, especially if you’re feeling a wonderful, homely cooked meal, you know, comfort food!
Their menu, in general, is really extensive, serving breakfast to dinner. There are western favourites, german classics, stews and curries, english-style pies, desserts and even a kids menu. Some of their signatures to try? You can’t go wrong with Oxtail Stew or try their Hainanese Braised Pork Knuckles.
__
Stall number: #01-2049
3. Craving Malaysian food? (Open till 12am on weekends): Wing Kee Original Taste Ipoh Hor Fun
With borders still closed, if you’re used to frequently hopping over to Johor for your fix of Malaysian cuisine you’ll be happy to know there’s a local Malaysian stall inside and they serve up truly authentic dishes.
They’re known for their Ho/Hor Fun (a homely meal made with meat (usually beef or chicken), veggies and chewy flat noodles, but their protein of choice is a delicious, deep-fried crispy and juicy chicken cutlet!
__
Stall number: #01-19
4. Heading to a completely different side of the world: The French Stall
When you think about french cuisine, two of the most popular thoughts are ‘fine-dining’ and ‘fancy’, am I right?
Getting rid of stereotypes, enjoy bistro-style French classics from scallops to onion soup. We recommend checking out their Special 3-Course Sets, including duck and seafood options, which are really affordable and start at $43.
P.s. They’re closed on Mondays.
__
Stall number: #01-2051
5. There’s always a long waiting-line here for a reason…:  International Nasi Lemak
There’s something so more-ish about a good, fragrant coconut rice, and when it comes with a side of crispy fried chicken, it’s a pretty genius combination in my humble opinion.
Nasi Lemak is another dish synonymous with Malaysia, and although you won’t get yours served on a pandan leaf here, it’s still a great pick to get your fix. Theirs is served with a fried egg, sambal and perfectly crisp ikan bilis (white anchovy).
__
Stall number: #01-03
6. The old name for Bangkok city: Pranakorn
Thai food has become one of the most well-known cuisines around the world, especially when it comes to street-food type fare!
Tuck into all of the popular favourites, offered in a variety of proteins from chicken to prawns, they’ve got a long list of items to choose from. From Thai curry to your favourite tom yum, papaya salad, deep fried chicken wings and much, much more!
__
Stall number: #01-2086
7. The perfect snack: Mei Xiang Goreng Pisang (美香炸香蕉)
We’ve got to admit, we never leave Changi without grabbing one, or three,  of these perfectly crisp banana fritters…what we love about them most is that they’re not over-oily either, giving them that satisfying crunch.
This is a great snack to munch on or quick filler in between meals, especially if you’re a fan of sweet and salty snacks/treats!
__
Stall number: #01-51
8. On the hunt for a spot inside the centre with a bit more ambience?: Little Island Brewing Company
You might want to consider this option, as unlike many of the hawker-stall type setups around, there are rows of picnic tables, benches and chairs set up as part of the microbrewery.
Yup, here you’ll find a divine selection of craft beers, as well as a menu with something for everyone, from local classics to international favourites, light bites, seafood and morning. They serve from breakfast through to dinnertime.
FYI. It’s located right beside Tekong Seafood (see #1).
__
Stall number: #01-01/02
9. You might want to consider sharing a meal here..: Woon Woon Pek Beehoon
Just wait until you see how huge their bowls of seafood are here!
They specialise in seafood bee hoon (which refers to white vermicelli noodles), with the options of prawn, sliced fish, scallops and even crayfish bee hoon! Or you can order their Seafood Platter!
__
Stall number: #01-52
10. Oysters for $5!: 坤記 Kun Kee
Straight to the point, Kun Kee specialises in two signature and loved Singaporean dishes in particular; oysters and carrot cake.
You have the option of ordering either black or white carrot cake, which arrives perfectly golden with a generous helping of carrot inside the actual cake, or try their fried oysters or specialty oyster omelettes. Their oysters are fresh, juicy and again, they add a liberal amount of oysters to their omelette.
__
Stall number: #01-47
11. A super popular street food in Singapore: Jason’s Place
Ah, the beloved satay and at Jason’s you’ll find skewered sticks in a variety of different meats and proteins.
Try their Pork Belly satay sticks (pork belly is ideal for grilling, when the fatty bits turn extra crispy and charred), mutton sticks, chicken breasts, satay chicken wings, and even otak-otak (a Southeast Asian fish cake made from ground up fish meat filled with spices and wrapped in banana leaf).
__
Stall number: #01-54
12. The Armyboys favourite: Mei Lin Yin Pin i.e. Commando Jelly
Although the english name was never officially given by the store themselves, most locals refer to this sweet dessert spot as the commando jelly stall.
The do serve red jelly dessert but there’s a story behind it actually, and somewhat of a local secret if you may…Located near Changi Village is an army camp and from way back when till now, whenever the army recruits come to Changi for a bite to eat, they always request the red jelly dessert, hence its name!
__
Stall number: #01-2054
13. Halal desserts and treats: The Finest Tea Shop
Don’t let the name fool you, although they do serve divine teas here, including chai lattes, their speciality lies in delicious sweet baked treats, from cupcakes to meringues.
But if you aren’t in the mood for something sweet, this cafe also sells savoury bites like smoked salmon sarmies, burgers, and more!
__
Stall number: #01-2060
14. There’s a variety of traditional nasi dishes to choose from here: Mizzy Corner
Operating since 1997, you can rest assured this kitchen knows what they’re doing when it comes to creating the perfect nasi lemak or nasi goreng.
They use ultra-fragrant Jasmine rice in all of their dishes and they even offer Nasi Lemak bento sets. And if you’ve arrived with a group of friends, or a big appetite, we recommend ordering the Nasi Ambeng Dulang, which comes with an assortment of side dishes and is ideal for sharing!
__
Stall number: #01-26
15. If you’ve arrived earlier in the daytime: Chock Full Of Beans
Or are looking for a weekend breakfast spot, grab a seat at this cutesy cafe, known for its drinks made into adorable characters…even pikachu!
Apart from the (doremon) art lattes and fun foamy friends, there’s some delicious breakfast, brunch and even lunch options. We recommend the Eggs Benedict which is always a winner, or their Seafood Cheesy Omelette with Lobster Bisque!
__
Stall number: #01-2090
16. YeeeeHaaaa: des By ASTONS
Best put your cowboy boots on for this one, just kidding, but you may feel transported back to the era of westerns when cowboys still ruled barren lands (this is the theme here after all).
Unsurprisingly they have a heavy focus on meats and proteins, but their true passion lies in steak…so if you love your red meat we’d suggest going with one of their ‘Legendary Steak’ options, like wagyu! There’s also chicken and seafood on the menu too.
__
Stall number: #01-2001
17. All ingredients are fresh and homemade: Makan Melaka
Cendol is one of those desserts that can literally be spotted all over Southeast Asia, from Singapore to Brunei, Vietnam to Thailand.
Grab a bowl of the cold dessert, best eaten chilled, with typical green spaghetti jelly rands (made from rice flour) and here its topped with red beans, corn and pieces of durian fruit. Each ingredient is made by hand by the owner, even the palm sugar!
FYI. It’s not as common to add coconut milk to cendol in Singapore and this spot is no different, so be surprised when you see it missing, it’s intentional!
__
Stall number: #01-2046
18. Their hor fun is made with bitter gourd: Wong Hing Kitchenette
Surprisingly this is one of the only Chinese restaurants you’ll find inside the centre, and here they focus on Cantonese-style zi char.
Although their menu isn’t extensive, they bring all the homey classics including hor fun (with sliced beef or fish) and other favourites such as Fried Black Pepper rice with salmon and Hong Kong style fried noodles.
__
Stall number: #01-43
19. Lively and vibey: Hanamco
Not a hawker stall, this is actually a cocktail bar – although they do serve western and fusion-style food on their menu.
Dubbing themselves as a ‘gastrobar’, they’re a popular spot for tourists and locals to grab a seat and watch the latest live sport matches happening globally, so if you’re looking for some peace and quiet, we suggest trying elsewhere.
__
Stall number: #01-2045  As you can see there’s plenty of options to feast on, and something to suit all cravings. Do arrive with an empty stomach, trust us, you’ll regret it later if not!

Spirit Bistro deliveries
Tried more items from Spirit Bistro bcos each order met or exceeded our expectations :D We've ordered several times over the past 3 months so I decided to combined everything into 1 post.
Tumblr media
Left: Singaporean noodles; Right: chicken + salted fish fried rice
I'll start with the noodles 1st. 9.2/10! Very tasty! Had a nice kick to it & flavour was good. I would say it was lacking in some protein (the bbq pork/cha siu pieces) but again, generous portion size.
The rice was alright; not as good as the noodles but still, I'd give it a 8.1/10. I prefer another type of salted fish - the softer/mushy ones. They used the harder shred-ier kind. I find this latter kind doesn't have as much depth as the kind that I like. Would have been better if they added more.
Tumblr media
Over $35 gets you 2 free spring rolls. They were okay; typical spring roll (vegetarian).
The entree we got was the curry beef brisket. Not an item my family gets usually. .. but SO YUMMY!!
Tumblr media
Mom's fav~ They have been consistant with this dish so we are very happy!
Tumblr media
Th yin-yang rice. This 1 dish came in 3 separate containers: 1 large box for the rice, & 2 smaller containers for the 2 different topping sauces. The white 'cream' one has shrimp & green peas in a savoury egg sauce. The red one has chicken breast & onion. The colour of the red sauce was sketchy NGL. Usually it's a bright red tomato red - almost like pasta sauce. But this was like a dark sick-pink. It was weird o_O However, the red sauce one (kinda like the sauce fr sweet & sour pork) actually tasted better! haha the egg cream one was kind of bland & a little too watery.
Tumblr media
Peach & shrimp .. . nope. Peaches & chicken! I have not seen this dish on other menus before... or maybe bcos I keep eating from the same Chinese restaurants lol but yeah, a variation of the classic peaches & shrimp. The chicken was decent but there wasn't much chicken in it, mostly batter. But if you're craving some crunch, I would recommend. The sauce was also good. I don't like having the sauce all mixed in with the fried items usually so when I re-assembled this dish, I only poured a little bit of sauce on top for a slight glaze. The rest of the sauce was left in the small sauce container for dipping (team dip right here *arm up*)
Tumblr media
Braised beef brisket. WOW! It may seem there's not much meat / you may assume it's a whole layer of broccoli on the bottom; however, the portion was very generous, so there was actually a lot of beef! Some pieces were fully fat, which I don't eat so I did toss out some pieces. But otherwise, there was a lot. Very well cooked - the brisket was soft & very flavourful. It wasn't too salty & the sauce was very good on rice, even though I'm not a rice person. & broccoli was broccoli haha
Tumblr media
The Spirit Rice Noodles. Honestly did not know what to expect for their house fried noodle dish but this was what we got. Thin rice vermicelli noodles with onion, bean sprouts, scant pieces of celery, cha-siu (Cantonese-style bbq pork), baby shrimps, & small pieces of pork. It was slightly spicy & had a good amount of wok-smokiness. It was decent!
**PS: I'm working hard on posts, I swear! My laptop is dying. .. it is so slow. I tried editing on my phone but once in a while, the app crashes & what I wrote didn't save so it is useless. SAWRY

Tonight's "my ribs are still killing me" delight: some surprisingly decent takeout red curry chicken from the local Thai N Sushi For You. It is usually on the mild side, unsurprisingly. But I have some Thai chili flakes ready, as required.
(Featured in the background: some dirty pans from earlier this week that I haven't been able to clean up yet! 🙄)
Thai seems to fill about the same niche here as Chinese takeout does some other places, which is fine by me. We actually only have a couple of Chinese places that will deliver to us in this medium-sized city, with Thai food everywhere. (It's also easier to find Vietnamese stuff locally.) An awful lot of them do serve sushi--often made with the same jasmine rice--and some other Japanese-style items on the side. And IME the distinctly Swedish-Thai style sushi is usually pretty good too.
You occasionally also find restaurant combos like Thai, falafel, and pizza, in proper Malmö fashion.
I think Mr. C opted for some kind of less celiac-friendly panko fried chicken with satay sauce from this place tonight, as some indication.

Volume 2 Part 2
We were each allowed a free drink as long as it didn’t exceed 5000 won, but instead of that, our group decided to split bingsoo which is essentially Korean shaved ice. My table got mango bingsoo and it was very very good.
Tumblr media
Mango bingsoo with ice cream on top
The last stop of the day was our choice which ended up being the Blue House. If you’re wondering what the Blue House is, it’s literally Korea’s White House but colored blue. The Korean name is “Cheong Wa Dae” which translates to “blue tile-roofed house”. It’s a very original idea. The color of the building is pretty, but everyone kind of rolled their eyes when they found out what it was for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Much like the White House, the Blue House was the home and office for 12 Korean presidents from August of 1948 to May of 2022. So apparently the president stopped living there and is somewhere else now. It’s become a full tourist attraction which is probably why we were allowed in many rooms.
We got to see the Sejong Room where the Cabinet meetings to deliberate on important government policies were held. We saw the Inwang Room, named after a mountain to the west of the house. Unlike the other rooms, it’s decorated in more of a Western style. It was used as a small banquet hall for meetings, luncheons, dinners, and joint conferences for when foreign heads of state visited. We also saw the Chungmu Room which was used for meetings and to make appointments with large groups.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Portraits with previous presidents on the wall
A lot of us were tired as it was nearing 6 pm. We headed back to the dorms in groups, but it wasn’t the end of my day. During the tour, I made a new friend named Koryn and recruited her to join Grace and I’s daily adventures. She too has been avoiding restaurants by herself. She’s from Hawaii and it’s her first time to another country so I just invited her to join us.
The three of us walked and walked and walked until we hit the area near Yonsei University in search of approachable food with vegetarian options for Grace. We noticed that the further we walked in this area the more pubs, bars, and people came. There was music booming all around and a lot of people in their own groups just smoking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We stumbled across the chicken cutlet and curry place. It had a kiosk so we thought we could just do take out, but they said to order first and wait until there’s space to sit. The layout of the interior was interesting as there weren’t tables. It was just one long wooden counter everyone sat at and each seat was separated by plexiglass dividers. The food was served on trays to each of us individually. I guess it’s a good place to go if you’re alone. This was a huge accomplishment for us as we actually sat down and had food in the restaurant by ourselves. The food was really good too so we were all happy.
Tumblr media
Chicken, rice, curry, sides, and spicy miso soup
And of course we had to end the night with a Nice2CU convenience store trip. I wanted the blue drink Grace got the first time and has been raving about it since and it tasted just like a blue Otterpop.
Tumblr media
The next day was Saturday, and our first weekend in Seoul. Our new group consisted of Bianca, Koryn, Grace, and I. We headed off to a full day in Hongdae which had a lot of cute shops, clothing stores, and food stands.
Tumblr media
The streets of Hongdae were full of color, patterns, and people. I really enjoyed looking around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We didn’t get too far before fatigue from the heat got to us. Grace and I got some food at an egg sandwich place while the others cooled down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We resumed our stroll along the streets and saw some really interesting buildings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grace is into shopping so we made a couple stops for her to check out. We even went to a local mall and found some really cute stores. There are a lot of stores with characters I have never seen before but seem to be really popular here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once we pretty much exhausted our shopping limit, we made the executive decision to go to a dog cafe. I’ve never been to any animal cafe so I was really looking forward to seeing what it was about. I know some cafes actually serve you food in a little shop, but the place we were going to was on the third floor so we didn’t know what to really expect. Turns out you just had to pay the admission fee which let you stay for a set amount of time and then you could purchase drinks as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were dogs of all sizes and breeds. Some were sillier and more sociable than others. All the dogs start barking every time someone comes up the stairs and it’s really funny. One of the dogs was a little strange and overly excited to the point of aggression as he bit Grace in the leg when we arrived. The workers were not pleased with him at all and kept apologizing/checking in. He was eventually sent to the sleep room where other dogs came from. There were actually way more dogs than I expected too. My favorites were these brother and sister Golden Retrievers who could actually retrieve unlike my dog. One brought the customer their drinks in a basket and the other took their money.
I normally don’t like small dogs, but these ones were cute. The workers would come pick them up and place them in our laps. Sometimes they would even voluntarily climb onto us. They were very friendly and fun to pet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After our time was up, we went to Homi Art Shop which was quite the art store. It has more art supplies than Michael’s but less craft supplies.
Tumblr media
I was told by a fellow STAMPS student that near the art shop were these marshmallow ice creams that were blowtorched in front of you. I’ve seen them on social media before so I already knew I had to find it. I’ve never seen anything like this in America before. It was basically a literal block of ice cream encased in a layer of marshmallow and then blowtorched. Their advertising said frozen s'more. It was pretty cool.
Tumblr media
To end the day and the week, we headed to a restaurant for dinner. I don’t know how to describe it because it wasn’t kbbq, but it had that concept of sharing between several people. It was prepared on a grill thing but the waiters did it for us. Also, Bianca ordered 4 bottles of soju which was not what I expected. If you know me at all, I don’t drink alcohol for any other reason than I think it tastes super gross. Everyone I know says they don’t drink it for the taste, but I just can’t get past the hand sanitizer taste. I had higher hopes for soju since I’ve seen lots of Tiktoks where people make concoctions that mask the taste. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any flavored ones so we were stuck with the rubbing alcohol tasting ones. It was so gross I couldn’t have more than one shot glass full. But it cost me a couple bucks so we just took the remaining home with us. And now it’s just sitting in my fridge.
Anyways, we had to make one last stop for tanghulu, or candied fruit. The line for it was extremely long and basically cut through the street. The fruit itself was freezing but good nonetheless. Overall, a great first week.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Settling into a new school and country has been very eventful. As I approach the end of the second week, I can say it hasn’t been too crazy so far. But the next few days are filled with adventures so I have high hopes. I’ll make sure to continue taking pics for this thing.
Bye bye
-Elaine

Okay so what is Tim Rockford's favorite dish/order from his your girl's family's restaurant? And does she sneak him other extra things that she knows thinks he'll like as a way of expanding his horizons? 😘🥰
Oh yes she definitely makes him try new things! I think the restaurant would serve a mix of popular American Chinese dishes (like general tso chicken and crab rangoon sort of things) and some regional/specialty dishes. I can totally see Tim initially sticking with like chow mein or lo mein because he knows he’ll like it. The man’s tired and doesn’t want to think too hard about what to eat after a long day. And then maybe after his 100th time ordering the same 3 things, she’d be like “hey have you tried Singapore noodles before?” because she thinks he’d appreciate the slight curry kick. (He does and it becomes a favorite) Or sometimes she’ll sneak an order of Chinese broccoli into his takeout bag with a note saying “my mom thinks you need to eat more vegetables <3”
Once he’s spent more time with them, she’d probably start exposing him to some home cooking style stuff, saving him some leftovers from the staff family meal to try. Or maybe use him as a guinea pig for any new recipes they’re developing!
Eventually he’d stop ordering altogether and just be like “I trust you”

Death by Curry and Chiya
Since arriving I’ve eaten my weight in curry. The food is amazing and my hosts are so generous with their portions. It has become abundantly clear that I need to learn how to politely decline more food. Every time I turn around there is another snack or meal. I’m going to need new pants soon. Breakfast was perhaps my favorite meal so far. It was composed of roti, potato curry, and scrambled eggs. It was so good I ate every bite. I would later regret this decision.
Sunil had made arrangements to visit the local school on the hill. So, after breakfast we began initially on the road and then wandered through a forested area before catching the dirt road again. Each step was uphill—gained about 800ft of elevation. It was a steep climb and we walked almost an hour to reach the top. I could feel the potato curry and chiya (a hot milk tea that somehow has a hint of almost cinnamon) swishing in my stomach as we made our ascent. Between the heat, elevation and my new found eating habits I thought I might puke. Kathmandu valley sits around 4,000 feet of elevation. I, however, powered through and pretended to be in shape. The effort it took was more than worth it.
We encountered children walking to school, exchanged warm namastes with neighbors, and were offered water along the way. The culture here is so warm and you can feel the sense of community. Once we reached the top we reached a small school that contains grades 1-3 and serves 22 children in the area. I was able to meet with the principal and discuss changes she has implemented over the last year as she has assumed her new role. Under her direction the school has more than doubled the number of children attending. She also described some of the challenges they face in terms of funding, how difficult the school is to access due to its location (children must be able to walk to the school), and the availability of trained teachers. We spent about an hour taking and drink chiya before she treated us at a local restaurant.
The restaurant was situated at the top of the hill with views on both sides over looking Kathmandu. The food once again was awesome. The middle of the plate contained about two cups of rice and was surrounded by a spicy chutney, chicken curry, pumpkin greens and potato curry, fresh slices of cucumbers and carrots. Then yogurt and dahl were placed in small bowls on the side. We ate in the traditional style with our right hand. As good as the food was I could not possibly eat all of it. After lunch m, we sat outside the restaurant drinking chiya and took in the views.
The trek back down the hill was an adventure. We took a shortcut walking over terraces, slipping between barbed wire fences, and occasionally following the road. By the time we arrived back at Sunil’s, I was exhausted, so hot and sweaty it looked like I took a shower with my clothes on, and still so full. After a quick snack of watermelon and iced coffee, I took my afternoon rest. I feel so privileged to be so welcome and able to see and experience Nepal, the people, and the education system. I do, however, feel that if I continue eating curry and drinking chiya at this pace I may die—but what a way to go!

Lunch Date
I went out to eat today.
I went to the restaurant (table for one, please)
To a restaurant I'd never tried
Indian buffet never disappoints:
Naan, tandoori, butter chicken, paneer
Rich foods and deep orange curry
(Managed not to spill it on my sweater (cream colored sweater))
The restaurant was mostly empty,
Soft murmurs of conversation,
Instrumental music above
(Why do they always play western style piano solos in Indian restaurants?)
I sat and ate my food
No book, no social media,
I left my phone in my bag.
I had gone there on a whim
After visiting some pet stores just to watch the critters
(I always wonder if it bothers the employees
To have people come in and treat pet stores like a mini zoo.
I'd be buying if I had the money and my landlord allowed pets, I swear!)
I visited the pet stores because I had been in Walmart,
Getting the finishing touches for my new apartment
And remembered how some of them used to have aquariums
(Does anyone else remember that?)
So I went to watch the fish,
And the kittens and the parakeets and guinea pigs
And the one sleeping corn snake
Until I decided I was hungry.
And I sat there in the restaurant,
No company, no distractions,
And ate my meal,
And it was enough.

Note
As someone with no spice tolerance whatsoever, same Dempsey same lol
I can't handle ANY spicy food, not even Takis
I only tried it once, when i was in 3rd grade. Never again. N e v e r a g a i n.
Another time, I accidentally ate spicy chicken (I was unaware it was spicy until too late, thanks for the warning beforehand mom)
I chugged a whole mini jug of milk, it was not pleasant lmao
IM SO SORRY THIS ALMOST GOT EATEN BY NOTIFICATIONS
I like spice once in a while as a flavor accent. Foods like curry over rice, calamari arrabiata, and kimchi. I notice the more sensitive I feel, the more likely my spice tolerance weakens.
Last night for dinner, I actually made a spicy tofu dish that was very good! But... leaving the seeds in did more than enough desired spice. It's not the best flavor pallet. The best in my opinion is savory. Because after a long day, a hearty soup with some bread sounds much more appealing to me! Or pasta...or dumplings... so on so forth
Also, my default craving is restaurant style chicken fingers
