i know as a garrus fan i can't really talk and i don't want to cause a whole Dilemma but the artwork for the mass effect board game is pissing me right off because it's so clear 90% of the effort went into liara and then everyone else is just tweaked screenshots and they claim there's no use of ai but shepard's face doesn't look right either or it's cut/pasted off something

Also tbh I'm fucking sick of students using AI to even generate ideas. Like fucking do the research/brainstorming yourself too, that's how to truly get original, intriguing ideas. Read other scholars, read other papers, or whatever else is pertinent in a field of study, but fuck off with asking AI for themeatic ideas on how to do a queer reading of literature or whatever else. Because bigger, wider, incisive questions never get contemplated that way. You just do what a machine tells you to do. There's zero accomplishment in that.

I used to volunteer for these guys cooking meals for people seeking asylum. They’re our local Asylum Seeker Resource Centre here in Melbourne and they do amazing work supporting people in Australia seeking asylum by providing food, housing, health and legal services.
With the current cost of living rising they’re running low on funds, and now fighting to keep their doors open. If you can spare some money, now is the time to help out.

Hey, the asrc does good work, the cost of living crisis has tanked donations and they are in a tough spot.
Twenty one years of helping and advocating for asylum seekers when our government has flatly refused to protect their human rights, they can’t keep going without money so if you can please do donate.
I know, no one reading this is likely flush with cash, so there is no need to feel guilty if you can’t help just reblog or share the donation link

it's kind of like amazing what being properly medicated and like leaving ur house and doing things with other people and like being a part of ur community can do for ur mental health.....
#the wretched gremlin strikes again#like i went on the group outing for the mental health centre club house yesterday and i had group therapy today#and i go to events at the cinema and like the guys at the cinema know me by name#and the people at the pharmacy know me and always ask how i'm doing when i'm in there even when i'm not getting my prescriptions#and like i used to have pretty bad social anxiety and i've noticed since i was put on the zoloft my social anxiety is basically like gone#and like i talk to my neighbours and stuff when i'm out with my dad and the dog#it's kind of wild just how much better i'm doing now compared to like last year#also like i'm being given access to like resources#like the mental health centre club house can help me access housing support and like job support and other supports#like learning how to cook and other programs like the social things and the exercise program and music therapy and mindfulness programs!!#and like i actually have a case manager and psychiatrist#and i have regular appointments and i go to group therapy now too!!!#lots of people are like living in a small town sucks so bad#and like yeah there isn't too much to do here but i'm actually doing a lot better in a smaller town than i did in the city#in the city like i was not given any kind of resources or support because there's so many people who also need it#and there's only so many resources available and often times i'm not considered someone who should get resources#because there were people who were worse off than me and considered people who needed it more than i did#idk it's just nice that i'm actually getting help instead of falling through the cracks like i normally would#and it's nice to be doing better

A List of Ideas I Have But Am Unsure How To Execute or Where I Would Begin
ADHD/Memory Clothing!
clothing specially designed to keep things on or near you so you don't forget them, lose them, or leave them behind.
must be machine washable, and made in your preferred fabric to stop texture/sensory issues.
pants/shorts/skirts: a loop at the waist for a clip-tether that attaches to your wallet/phone case. pocket specifically for your phone. if you stand up without your phone, it will hit your leg when you walk away, so you remember to put it in the phone pocket.
shirt/jacket: two loops on each shoulder for clips on a specially made chest bag, easy to clip on and off. the bag has room for credit/debit cards, ID, inhaler/meds, and small fidgets/earbuds. in sight, in mind so you can't leave it behind!
Community Arts & Life Skills Centre!
a community-building specifically for people to come in and work on art of all kinds.
1) quiet rooms: minimal talking, please be quiet, don't just walk up and talk to people!
2) social rooms: talking allowed, people here are open to conversation, indoor voices, please! teaching and critiquing others is encouraged here! good for people looking for help and advice.
3) music rooms: minimal talking, music playing on a community playlist; add your own songs through submission and review. extended talks outside, please.
1, 2, & 3 are all for visual arts. painting, drawing, charcoal, sketching, digital arts, origami, calligraphy, etc. General materials (ie. paper, pencils, crayons, charcoal, erasers, brushes & watercolors) will be available, but bringing your own tools is encouraged!
fabrics room: sewing machines, black/white/red thread, needles in different sizes, practice scrap cloth, needlepoint/cross stitch frames, knitting, crochet, macrame, and braiding are done here!
foods room: for cooking, baking, and meal prep. Things made here are made in bulk, and given to patrons and employees as free breakfasts and lunches.
metals room: for metallurgy and jewelry making. donated scraps are melted down and used for practice materials, but the use of tools and torches is (if feasible) free.
woods room: wood carving, carpentry, and general handiness skills are practiced here. safety goggles are provided, as are masks. knives, drills, nails, practice woods, and screws are also provided.
take care of the workspace; not cleaning up will leave you with a fine, as will irreparably breaking more expensive tools (hammers, sewing machines, saws etc.). tool care is also taught in each of these spaces!
trouble at home? nowhere to stay tonight? feel free to sleep in the arts centre, at the cost of helping clean the place up at night. leftovers from the foods room are free to take as well, but please remember to sign in with your name and age at the front.

i think cassie got janet's dog tags. what do you think? Ik this is a silly goofy fun blog but i value your opinion
I absolutely agree. I know that the actors for Daniel and Janet played their characters like they were dating and I do love that idea but I think EVEN IF Daniel and Janet were dating in the show, Daniel would have passed Janet’s dog tags onto Cassie. Cassie is Janet’s only on screen relative and I think it only makes sense that she’d get them. Beyond that, I know it would have meant a lot to her to have her mom’s dog tags and all of SG-1/Cheyenne Mountain would know that too. Coming from personal experience, even though my dad is alive, when he retired he gave me his dog tags and they’re my prized possession. I wear them a lot and they’re something I take with me into the unknown that make me feel connected to my dad. I think they’d bring comfort to Cassie like they bring comfort to me. I think that, a lot like me, she’d wear them on all her special life occasions (graduation, job interviews, wedding) because it would be like having her mom with her.
I have a LOT of thoughts on Cassie’s character and I wish they’d done more with her character, but I mean, whatever. Idk I like military brat characters for The Representation (tm) lmao

Understanding contemporary queer activism – How Manitobans can fight the rise of queer/trans/gender-phobic rhetoric.
Manitoba Museum Auditorium
From around the world, almost every day, there are stories that demonstrate the rise of hate against Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Inclusive communities. Canada has been called one of the safest places for 2SLGBTQ+ folks, but many know how fragile that security is.
The Manitoba Museum, in partnership with Rainbow Resource Centre, is hosting a special Pride Week First Friday event – Queer Activism: Now More Than Ever.
In this panel discussion, Ashley Smith, Director of Advocacy at Rainbow Resource Centre, will be joined by contemporary queer activists and academics to explore how the global rise of an anti-queer rhetoric threatens the rights of 2SLGBTQ+ people even here in Canada, and how the fight against discrimination needs the active support of Manitobans.
Reserve your spot at this free event here.
Panelists: Ashley Smith (he/him), Director of Advocacy, Rainbow Resource Centre; Karen Sharma (she/her), Executive Director, Manitoba Human Rights Council; Brie Villeneuve (they/them), student, University of Winnipeg, Faculty of Science; and Noah Schulz (he/him), Professor/Researcher. You can read more about the panelists here
