But a successful reintroduction takes a lot more than that! A recent study looking back at 20 years of sea otter releases found that the most important factors for their success were favorable weather and ocean conditions, and low competition for resources.

The study’s results will inform future decisions about when and where to release southern sea otters to maximize their chances of survival. It also provides support for expanding our surrogacy program to other aquariums, increasing our impact on recovering wild otter populations. What an ottertunity!

There are essentially no rules, this isn’t inktober and there’s no pressure, feel also free to make things for it in advance rather than day to day. not me losing my fucking marbles over the fact that Kenjaku probably hasnt anticipated Maki and now she’s a very capable and dangerous outlier, like okay where have we herad that before? who else was a complete surprise in Kenjaku’s machinations? who came from nothing and broke through their chains to disrupt everything around them – unintentionally or not?

Maki is the same force of nature like Toji; outliers abandoned to fate they didn’t choose – only difference is Maki decided to break free completely and start taking everything apart by starting with the source of her supposed fate; the Zenin Clan. unlike Toji, she’s fueled by pure determination imparted onto her by the death of her sister – the only reason why she even wanted to rise through the ranks and take over the Zenins. she has no sister to be strong for, so what is left? instead of falling into a dark pit of self-loathing like Toji, she uses her strength to dismantle everything that served as tool to hurt her and Mai – she will throw a wrench into Kenjaku’s plans by pretty much reducing the old ways of the jujutsu society to ash, creating outcomes he hasnt predicted/planned for yet. Maki’s on a rampage that will create anomalies.

Maki will destroy everything.

-really!  he gets it!  at 25, you’re not a ‘young adult’ or whatever anymore, you’re a full-fledged adult and you’re kinda new to it, but you’re making a life for yourself and your brain is fully developed and a lot of the Dumb Hormone Shit has stopped.  you’re very different than you were just a few years ago and there’s plenty you don’t know, but you’re strong and you’ve already experienced many hardships and you’re independent

-techno thinks about this as he humors the “”rivalry”” between them.  techno also thinks about this as he carries dream to the water cauldron of Pandora’s Vault, too weak to walk across the cell to get a drink.

-phil searches through old books and journals, but everything from his early adulthood has been lost.  dissolved in floods, destroyed in fire, or buried with old friends.  he ties dream’s hair back for him, and he thinks that he might’ve worn the same style, too, once upon a time.
