if nickelodeon weren't cowards we could've had eddie and jerome bonding over complicated relationships with shitty dads who are trying but will never be able to make up for a life time of Issues

God they TANTALIZED us with that. The Jerome/Eddie friendship was SO CLOSE to truly blossoming, especially right at the end of season 2. And like, the show does make the connection with the two of them and their daddy issues. Mara writes about both of them in her article and makes parallels. Additionally, the two of them together go to Mr. Sweet to get Mara reinstated. Eddie also tells Jerome that Joy entered herself in the writing competition instead of Mara, and together they: 1) Ensure Mara gets credit for the father/son article, 2) Clear up the Jack Jackal stuff and reveal that Mara is Jack Jackal but throw Joy under the bus for writing the Nina article, 3) Reveal that Joy didn't enter Mara in the competition, and 4) See to it that Mara does get entered. And like, they accomplish all this scarily quickly and scarily efficiently. If they'd ever truly combined their powers, they could've been a formidable team. They could've accomplished a lot of good together, or they could have committed many crimes and evils. Like those boys did not hesitate to be VERY cold to Joy on Mara's behalf, they could've been a pretty intimidating and powerful team if they'd ever wanted to or tried. But unfortunately they were both too stupid.

So like as you were saying, yes I so wish they would've expanded upon their friendship, especially with their complicated relationships with their dads being the basis of it. Like, after the truth about Jerome's dad comes out Eddie is the first one to reach out to him and be like "hey we would've been cool with it." And when the truth about Eddie's dad comes out Jerome doesn't laugh along with most everyone else, he looks surprised and a little bit mortified, like he knows what that sort of feeling is like. And there were so many glimpses into a potential wonderful and entertaining friendship. Eddie makes Jerome violently ill via creamed carrots and then underpays him at Donkey Day, they make the dance bet which Jerome believes will make Eddie look like a fool but ends up backfiring on him instead, and Eddie sees Jerome getting kidnapped by Rufus and eventually ends up inadvertently alerting Sibuna to the problem and helping him get rescued. Jerome confronts Eddie about the letter business at the beginning of S3 [which was unfortunately probably their last major interaction :( ]. And Eddie fuckin calls him JERRY, repeatedly lol. Also, my favorite Eddie/Jerome scene: when Jerome asks Eddie for French notes, and Eddie hands him a sandwich. (And also in this scene when Jerome encourages Eddie to open up to him and tell him what's bothering him and Eddie actually DOES!!)

Not to mention both are shockingly involved in the other's relationship: Jerome pairs Eddie and Patricia for Donkey Day and makes them be tied together for a full day and likely providing a big assist in their sparking feelings for one another, he teases him for having a crush at the dance, he and Alfie make the dance bet with him, he listens to Eddie's concerns after their first date and offers him relationship advice (which he is NOT qualified to give lol), and Eddie even tells him how deep his feelings are and that he's never felt like that about a girl before, which Jerome does not understand but accepts. Also when he got stood up by Patricia, Jerome was like "wasn't she supposed to meet you already?", implying that Eddie told him about this previously and that they talk about this kind of stuff together. In season 2, Jerome might be the one he talks about his Patricia feelings/drama the most? Although that's debatable, as he does discuss them with Mara and Joy as well. Additionally, Jerome often laments about his girl problems with Mara to Eddie, he points out to Mara that Jerome very clearly treats Mara better than the rest of them (meaning he's been noticing and observing this behavior all school year to the point where it's painfully obvious to him), and pushes Mara into accepting her feelings for Jerome. In a way, neither of their relationships might happen without the help of the other.

I was so sad when they just didn't have much of a friendship in season 3, especially with all the buildup and potential at the end of season 2. They could've been everything. We truly could've had it all. But alas, we were robbed.

WAIT WAIT WAIT IS THERE LIKE ACTUAL SPOILERS FOR SOMETHING HAPPENING TO BOBBY OR ARE WE ALL JUST SPIRALLING HERE

We are all definitely unhinged rn BUT there are clues that it looks like Bobby is in danger.

In the pics we see Hen, Eddie, and Buck freak out to what looks like the bridge collapse and we dont see Chimney or Bobby. From another pic it looks like Chimney is getting wheeled away, so that just leaves Bobby. Also, there's been a lot of foreshadowing, especially with last episode of Athena talking about the fiancée she lost and told Bobby to hold her and never let her go. It's all just speculation but we're putting all the context clues together and it really seems like something is gonna happen to Bobby.

BUT we all could be wrong and it's somebody else entirely (my money is on Bobby AND Chris getting hurt)

I hoped I'd never have to make this post but we all heard the news so I guess I'm gonna have to do it anyways:

Netflix cancelled JATP, like everyone else I am heartbroken. This show has done so much for me in the past year, ever since I watched it for the first time in October 2020 it changed my life.

Much like Julie I got back into music again, I sang again for the first time in a while. The music it gave us, the songs and the lyrics and their messages helped me so much. For that I am so thankful.

Through Alex I got to see anxiety portrayed properly onscreen and felt like I actually saw myself. As well as that I saw him dealing with it which helped a lot.

With Luke I saw resilience and determination that really helped motivate me through some tough times. His constant hype for Julie also helped me hype up myself.

Willie and Alex's relationship was something I hadn't seen before, a queer couple that wasn't played for laughs, that wasn't a stereotype or bad rep. The way that they helped drive the plot is something so powerful and I am so glad that they were my first experience of that.

And Julie and Luke's relationship. Their support for each other, the way they helped each other navigate their grief, the way they lit up when singing with each other. They truly are soulmates and to see them look so in love in screen, there was something so magical there that can't be replicated.

Then of course for the cast, Madison, Jeremy, Owen, Charlie, Savannah, Jadah, Sacha and everyone else. They are all so talented and I cannot thank them enough for bringing the characters they played to life.

Kenny I am eternally grateful for you giving us this show even if only for a single season.

Finally I want to talk about all of the friends I've made, all of the amazing people that I've met thanks to this show. Everyone who's become more than a fandom friend and become someone I talk to in my every day life. That something that they can never take away from us.

hello again but we were also so cheated out of patricia and jerome bonding over being kidnapped by rufus we rly could’ve had it all smh my head

I LITERALLY THINK ABOUT THIS ALL THE TIME

Like those were separate but extremely similar circumstances that happened to the both of them, and like the similarities are obvious to us the audience but in the show they never directly make that connection, and Jerome and Patricia never really talk about Rufus with each other, not even a passing mention, really. And I wanted them to talk about it with each other SO BAD. It would’ve been nice to see them bond and also I think it would’ve helped them both heal a bit. Like Patricia regularly had nightmares in S1, and you can see the complete and utter terror in Jerome’s eyes when he sees Rufus again in S2. They’re both obviously very traumatized by him and undoubtedly never had any kind of therapy for it. I would’ve liked to see them work through the lasting trauma at all (cause the after effects aren’t rally mentioned at all in the show) but I especially would’ve liked to see them do it together and talk through everything with someone who understood.

Cause like. Rufus was awful to all of them, but he tormented and fucked up those two significantly more than the rest

The things he did to Patricia include:

Stalked her and kind of menacingly watched her around campus?? And made her think she was crazy and seeing things and thus making everyone think she was the girl who cried wolf??

Approached her in the middle of the woods and clearly scared her. Like an adult man following and approaching a 16 year old girl alone in the woods? Creepy creepy awful creepy

BROKE INTO THE HOUSE AND WATCHED HER SLEEP?????

When she was in a vulnerable state, promised to give her what she wanted most (finding Joy), thus reeling her in and making her trust him

Manipulated her into giving him information and making her try to steal the locket, and telling her he was the only person she should trust because he was getting her what she wanted (Joy), telling her to keep everything a secret and not tell any adults OR her friends, effectively cutting her off from everyone

Used the trust he had cultivated to rope her in and even get her in his car, and the SECOND she stepped out of line he broke that trust and turned on her

Kidnapped her and kept her locked up in a warehouse for well over 24 hours and put his hands on her and threatened her and was just a total creep to her in a way that legitimately sends chills down my spine

Tried to use her as a bargaining chip but then PSYCH he was never actually intending on giving her back at all, and was THIS CLOSE to driving off with her again to do who knows what to her. I can’t let myself go down that line of thinking else I start feeling sick to my stomach

The things he did to Jerome include:

When another teenager approached him, he did not hesitate to once again use him for his own gain

Though unlike Patricia he never even bothered trying to garner trust, he just went straight from business transaction to intimidation

Forced Jerome to give him information

Paid Jerome a bunch of money and then seemingly got mad when he spent it, which tbh that was your own fault Rufus

Upped the ante and forced him to actually steal all the pieces and actually threatened him with violence to his face. I actually went back and looked at this one, he tells Jerome “I will mummify you alive.”

Scared Jerome so fucking bad that he betrayed his friends and tried to comply with his demands because he felt he had no other choice and that Rufus might actually murder him

Kidnapped Jerome - this time he didn’t coax him into a car and drive off with him, but he swiped him from the house in the middle of the night

Kept him locked up in a barn once again for well over 24 hours, and though he called him a pawn/leverage/insurance, his purpose with him felt a little less clear with him than with Patricia and that’s arguably more terrifying

When Jerome escaped into the hay maze, taunted and toyed with him until he was able to lock him up again

Threatened to do something to Poppy if Jerome didn’t comply

And we all know he would’ve done SO much worse if HOA had a higher rating

I’ve always liked the Jerome and Patricia friendship, probably more than most on HOA tumblr, and I would’ve liked to see the two of them talk about this. It would’ve helped them bond and then open up to each other and create a new dynamic of their friendship. And also, like, Jerome knows Rufus kidnapped Patricia, but I don’t think he knows the full extent of how Rufus was manipulating her for weeks beforehand and how much the kidnapping actually fucked her up. And for someone who was tormented by Rufus as much as Jerome was I feel like it’s only right that he should’ve known all that. I really wanted the Rufus trauma victims support group. Real sad they never got into that in S3, I would’ve liked that very much

Also I have multiple WIPs in my google docs which have this storyline included in it, I wasn’t kidding when I said I think about this a bunch. Enjoy some snippets from some of my different fics:

Lucky Pink

Alex is late for his date with Willie but he can't find his lucky hoodie anywhere.

He's checked the studio, under the sofa, up in the loft, and even inside the piano - Luke thought it was real funny to hide his hat there once, but the joke was on him because then he had to deal with one of Alex's messier anxiety attacks.

Still, the hoodie is nowhere to be seen.

Of course, this is LA in the summer and he's made of air anyway and he doesn't need a hoodie but... he just feels better when he has it. When he can hide beneath his hood and fist his hands in the worn cuffs, play with the strings that hang from the collar.

He decides to check the house.

But it's not there.

So he decides to ask Julie if she's seen it and knocks on her bedroom door, but there's no response. He's about to leave when he realises his hoodie might be in there.

He decides just to take a peek.

But when he sticks his head through the door, he's surprised to find that Julie's room is, in fact, occupied, but not by Julie.

Instead, he finds Reggie, under the duvet, face soft and slack, with his head half dissolved in the pillow, eyelashes resting gently against his pale cheeks. Pressed open on the bed next to him is one of the books from Julie's bookshelf - he tilts his head to read the title - Looking For Alaska.

And up, over his lips, Alex spots the pink material.

His hoodie.

His first reaction is pure fury and frustration. Reggie has stolen his clothes before, yes, and that's annoying, but this one? This is his favourite. This is his lucky pink.

His fists clench at his sides and he's about to say something to wake the boy, when a second emotion strikes him.

He drops to his knees and lays his chin on the bed, taking a closer look at Reggie's face. His eyes are red and the skin just around them is blotchy. He shifts his gaze and notices that he's also wearing one of Luke's bracelets and has another clutched in his fist.

Alex sighs and drops his head forward against the soft sheets.

Luke's bracelets, Julie's bed, his hoodie.

Alex hovers a finger above Reggie's face, before smoothing out the stress lines that have taken up a home on his forehead.

"We love you," Alex whispers.

Then he stands and decides maybe it would be nice to feel the sun on his arms that afternoon.

Coming Out Plan / Vent

I'm thinking of coming out to my parents within the next two weeks. I wanna be going by Jynx with my family for my birthday which is in mid-January which is why I'm hoping to do it now.

I am terrified because even though I know I'm safe and have a place to go even if I wasn't, the last few times I've tried to come out it's been ignored. I've said that I'm non-binary and it's been discuss at the time and then left completely unacknowledged afterwards.

I've been going by Jynx on here for over a year. With close friends for about as long. With my boyfriend practically since I met him. And at college ever since I started in September. My parents are the only ones not listening and so I haven't been able to tell my siblings.

Hopefully this is gonna change. I've mostly talked to my mam about this so I'm gonna try talking to my dad first maybe, I'm sure he will listen. he might be confused but I'm willing to answer questions and I think that if he's on side then it might be easier for my mam to accept it and let me 'go public' as far as she knows.

I'm sorry that this is so vent-y and ranty and rambley. this was supposed to be short and explain my situation but I need to get all of this out.
