There’s a thing I see in fics sometimes where Talia has authority over Jason and she profits off of it by giving him tasks or missions, which is funny to me because there is not a single moment in Lost Days in which Talia has even the slightest bit of control over what Jason is doing.

Like when she first finds him and he's catatonic? Yea okay, but he's catatonic. As soon as he takes a dip in the Lazarus Pit and regains his mental capacities he just takes off like a rocket and everyone else has to scramble after him.

He goes rogue and tries to kill Bruce and Talia is like UHHH and attempts to stall him from trying that again by finding him instructors to hone various skills, and Jason goes along with it but also straight up murders about half of his teachers after he's done learning from them, while Talia just watches with some pride but also mild concern in the background.

Throughout all of this he's also leeching off of her bank accounts and contacts. Talia is getting nothing out of this arrangement

Constantly thinking about that post that’s like “people think Talia was controlling Jason in lost days, Jason could barely control Jason let alone Talia” because literally one of the first thing he does after regaining consciousness is outmaneuver league agents to run back to Gotham. If he wanted to leave he could that’s why she brings up the idea of training in order to stall his plans to kill Bruce (at some point he does clue into this). To me the dynamic of Talia manipulating Jason while Jason is semi aware of this and consciously going along with it is a much more interesting dynamic to explore than “Talia is an evil temptress and Jason is hapless to her whims” you constantly see in fanon. To me their post Lazarus pit dynamic is like if you took in an injured wolf and now that it’s healed it may bite you or fuck off at anytime but it sticks around for food and company also it keeps on bringing you dead prey animals

I really want to see Jason use chemistry as a weapon more, it's something I loved about The Dark Bite (from DC's Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun.)

It's a really cool and underrated form of weaponry for him, a great reminder of his intelligence and league training.

I tried not to compare Jason and Cassandra paths, I really did. But they are my favourites out of all Bat-related characters and Batman talks to her about Jason, a little, and

I really liked the Red Hood Lost Days idea of Jason wandering the world training with random skilled criminals Talia knew. It’s a shame it was only canon for one year and got replaced with the magic stuff from RHatO.

It was fun. None of the teachers looked like the costume criminals Batman and Red Hood tend to fight. They all looked and acted like people. People who did bad shit but people. Most of them were doing a job or retired. They were probably teaching Jason for the money.

I wonder if any of the teachers liked Jason. If Jason had fun. He was a good student as Robin and liked school. Was this similar for him?

Also love the idea of Jason having a years worth of stories. Most are fucked up. Some are wild.

One of my favorite plans Jason has come up with is the time he put a bomb in the Batmobile to try to kill Bruce, and to get close enough to the vehicle to plant the bomb without tipping off its motion sensors, he decided the best course of action was to move at the speed of five seconds per inch for THREE HOURS. And then he went through with it.  Absolute insanity

Clearing up a misconception re: timeline of Jason’s growth spurt

It’s semi canon (I think?) that Jason was fairly short as a kid, and widely accepted fanon is that had it not been for the Lazarus pit, his max adult height would’ve been fairly short too, due to childhood malnutrition stunting his growth. Because of fandom telephone, some people heard “the Lazarus pit is the reason why Jason is tall” and assumed that he came out of the pit 6ft, and that’s not true

Here’s Jason in Red Hood Lost Days immediately after his dip in the pit, as we can see, he still looks fairly young and he’s still short. It’s been like 2-3 years since he initially crawled out of his grave so we can assume he grew a little bit, but he’s certainly not 6ft. Over the course of Lost Days, we start to see Jason look older/taller as time goes by, so we can assume his pre-Red Hood training arc also took place over a few years (my estimate is like 1-2 years).
