•Happy New Year!!!•
It’s 2023!!
Let’s make this an amazing reading year!
Let us all find new books, love those books, dnf books that are not doing it for us, complete reading challenges and goals, read books that have been sitting on our TBRs for longer than they should be there, and to just have fun.
I look forward to seeing what this year brings.
Here’s to you bookworms.
May you have a wonderful 2023!

Finally remembered to take pics of the journal lol (better late than never). I rounded out February with 14 books read, many of them really fun reads, but head and shoulders above the rest was You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty by @azemezi which I did on audio read by the awesome @prospertunia - I was practically feral by the end of the book bc I Had To Know How It Ended Immediately Ack. Also, justice for Joy, she’s amazing, I love her, I hope we get to see her HEA someday too 💖 My March theme comes directly from @mochibujo Patreon journaling kit - Jellyfish Ladies in Space! (There’s no “official” name, but that’s basically the inspiration 💜) I used my Prismacolor pencils to color in some of the phenomenal black-and-white cover page - it just looked too stark in my journal without the color - and various @notebook_therapy washi from mostly the Moonlit Alchemy set on the tabs (I really liked how the gray-toned lavender tapes complemented but didn’t distract from Hedda’s design - also, the @archerandolive Heliotrope Calliograph brush pen I used for the headers I lettered was an exact match to the purple in the kit💜) The three photographs are pictures I took of the jellyfish at the @montereybayaquarium on a trip in 2019. 📸 Part of why February was a great reading month was due to #blackathon2023 hosted by @jesseonyoutube_ 💕💕 I knocked out my 6th book with 2 minutes to go in the month to complete my #teamoshun prompts 🎉 And finally - in a little life update, I have hip surgery scheduled for Friday 🙃 so I have a week of CHG showers and mupriocin to put in my nose twice daily. So why not make a pretty chart to tape to my bathroom mirror? 😉 #journaling #bulletjournal #bujo #reading #readingjournal #books #bookjournal #stationery https://www.instagram.com/p/CpcCmEZg86R/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Nah, kebetulan teman punya versi Sunardian Wirotomo. Jadi saya pinjam dengan sedikit peringatan, hati-hati bosan nungguin pengantin 40 malam. Bosankah saya? Lucunya enggak, loh.…

Here it is! My reading bullet journal. I am happy with how it has turned out and it definitely makes me excited to read more 😊 I got a @scribblesthatmatter dot journal and have been using the Paper Mate medium felt tip pens, and some stencils I found on Amazon. I also just ordered the Zebra Pen Lettering set which I am super excited about! #readingjournal #readingbujo #bujo #bulletjournal #bookstagram #books #reading #bookblog #readinggoals https://www.instagram.com/p/CoWGtwQreXH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

🍂 ¡Hola! ¿Cómo están? Yo he estado leyendo, leyendo, leyendo, y escribiendo mucho, muchísimo, sobre todo para mí misma. Octubre me ha sumergido en una serie de emociones infinitas. Me siento diferente. Más tenue, tal vez. Ya lo averiguaré con el tiempo y la reflexión. 🍂 ¿Han sentido que los días oscurecidos y más frescos ha transformado algo en ustedes? 🍂 #paginasdetania #libretasbonitas #pensamientos #reflexiones #stationery #journaling #caligrafía #caligrafia #journal #myjournal #journalingpage #journalingpages #journalingprompt #readingjournal https://www.instagram.com/p/CkBpkZuJWaY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Still working on my reading and viewing journal. I've seen a magnificent concert yesterday at the #OttawaNAC and today I'm watching #LesPiedsdanslamarge with the kids. The first season is 16 years old and it's still as good as it was at the time ❤️💙💚 . . . . . #readingjournal #viewingjournal #journaling #journal #journalspread https://www.instagram.com/p/Cjq-CaEp0Bz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Part 1 (of I think 3) wrapping up 2022 journals and starting 2023! I finished up my December reading “shelfie” with 16 books, to make 178 books on the year. I had a lot of re-reads just because of stress with Book Lovers by Emily Henry “winning” at 7 re-reads between January (when I read the galley and sobbed in the bath) and October (re-read again via audio while driving back and forth to help with my parents’ house and things). All reading is reading, re-reads included. And then that’s it for 2022! I used EVERY page in my @archerandolive A5 Narwhal notebook. That’s 192 pages 😹 (I did do a bunch of swatching in the back but still - I’ve never filled up a journal before). So that last journal page has a lovely postcard from @franzencomesalive and her Patreon, because this is the year I joined Patreon to support favorite creators - Liberty, Hedda @mochibujo, and Jesse @bowtiesandbooks 💖💖 look how chunky it is compared to my new 2023 journal!! 😹🙀 Of course I had lots of help from Aphra the Best Desk Lamp Baker while finishing old and new spreads (Shakespeare did a nap for once 😹) #journal #journaling #bujocommunity #bujo #bulletjournal #bulletjournaling #reading #readingjournal #archerandolive #cats #catstagram #catsofinstagram #cats_of_instagram #murdermittens #shakespearekitteh #aphrakitteh https://www.instagram.com/p/CnU3ezCvj-v/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I got this book through Amazon First Reads and it took me a couple of years to get to it, but here we are! I wanted to like this book and I did during the first 25% of it. I was invested in the mystery, trying to figure out the “why”, the “who” and I was actively trying to engage in some of the guesswork, but there was just a few things that just held me back. Every little thing was explained in such excruciating detail. We got a step by step on the protagonist folding a piece of paper, we even got super unnecessary details on how the calender and contacts apps work on an android. It was almost as if the author thought the readers were stupid and we’ve never seen a smart phone in our lives or been on the internet. Not to mention the dialogue/plot are full of clichés. There’s no real challenge and things just happen to work out for our main guy. I think I shouted “things don’t work like that” a bunch of times. Things felt rushed after a certain point and a plot point that could have been really interesting seemed to have been abandoned. Once I reached a certain point in the novel, I had no desire to continue reading when I got there, but I was determined. I won’t be continuing the series and if you like this book and author, good for you but neither are for me. Book Review: Queer Intention by Amelia Abraham
Book Review: Queer Intention by Amelia Abraham
“Priviledge is nothing if you’re not leveraging it.” pg. 250 People say, out of sight, out of mind. Definitely I don’t want LGBTQ+ people to be out of my sight and out of my mind. They are one of us, they are part of us. That’s why I want to know them better, that’s why I read this book. Amelia Abraham takes us aboard a sequential journey of getting into the life of queer people and their…
