Off White Raven Rhapsody Part 2 of 2

Now that Raven is undressed, let’s take a look at these expensive brand clothes!

All under the cut.

I know they are all based off of actual pieces. But I think they are kinda meh; like RH’s/SH’s clothing seem higher quality. Her jacket has a washcloth material, an actual snap in the front, NON WORKING PULL STRINGS ON HER HOOD, and silver printed “Woman” on the back (I would not be surprised if it peels after heavy handling).

Her shirt is a bit stretchy, it’s hemmed, and seems like a nice piece. The Velcro will catch very easily on this fabric.

Her pleather purse has a metal ring, but does not open to an actual pocket. It closes with Velcro and not an actual buckle. It also has three studs on the back for decoration.

I love her skirt. It is not hemmed though. It has four layers of the ribbed material over a short black, cotton like skirt (also these pieces have Monster High Off White tags in them).

Her shoes are fine and have the Off White logo on the underside of the sole. I like the texture of them, but wouldn’t it be cool if there was a gargoyle sculpted on the heel to combine MH’s style and the Off White shoes??

Her hat is a nice sculpt, the horns even look like they have a rough edge on the inner side. You can even see the little stitches.

Anyways, she also has some earrings that are a silver and a blueish metallic color in the shape of the Off White logo. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll keep many of her pieces. I don’t think they look bad on her, but I really want to dress her on some gothic pieces that go along with her skirt and shoes.

As an almost final note, my Neca Demona came down off her perch to check out this new gargoyle. She appreciated this new ghoul’s horns, large wings and the little horned thumb on her wings. She needs some claws though.

She had some pluses, but I really don’t see her being 156 bucks. ….will I try for Symphonie….yes, yes I will….

The thing about the Off-White dolls is that they're very pretty dolls, they have beautiful and interesting sculpts, their make-up is on point, and they have cool hairstyles (none of these praises apply to Raven tho lol, she's super boring in comparison to the other three).

But the clothes are meh (Harmonie is the only one whose clothes look even remotely interesting) and for the price they were launched at, you would expect the fashion to be better than just meh. I do think more people would like them if they cost a maximum of $70 USD instead of $150 USD.

Wish I could get them at a better price but that is highly unlikely, maybe if I ever find them nude, I'll consider getting at least one of them (not Raven tho, sorry I'm a hater lol).

Anyways rant over, I just wished Mattel would have made them more affordable, I'm kinda salty because they're pretty and I couldn't get them lol.

Off White Raven Rhapsody Part 1 of 2

I just spent waaaaay too much on a doll; -but I really didn’t buy too many Skullectors last year, so I’ll say that it evens out.- To date, this is the most I’ve ever spent on a doll. Monster High really pulls me in with their new and interesting monster head sculpts….always has and always will….so I bit the bullet and bought her. I didn’t take a photo of her box, but it is a very heavy duty box. I feel like a lot of budget went into that damn box too as it uses really thick paperboard, has four interlocking (like a much bigger version of paper board jewelry boxes) pieces, and four acrylic pieces. I am not an inbox collector, so this is just some very expensive trash to me. -I can’t even recycle the thick paperboard here locally-

Anyways, let’s see if some of my money went to the doll. -I know the lion’s share of expense is due to the Off-White brand, blah blah-

I wanted to compare her to her MH gargoyle brethren: Create a Monster Gargoyle (in a Granite City High jumpsuit I started to make him, but never finished), Garrott du Roque, and Rochelle Goyle. She seems a little more radioactive colored than the other gargoyles. Maybe she was carved out of uranocircite or metatorbernite instead of granite…. It does bother me that she doesn’t have any speckled skin. She was an expensive doll, why not make her skin the same “off-white” color and throw in some speckles! She also did not make her with clawed hands, which is very strange because Skullectors put that shit on everything. Well, let’s take a closer look at the thing I mainly bought her for. Her face!! Her face is so pretty….

Let’s compare her face sculpt and Rochelle’s.

I am very certain that the face part of the head is the same. The nose is identical, they both have the “worried bumps” in the middle of their foreheads, and the jawline looks the same. Rochelle’s lips are fully painted in, while Raven’s look under painted (especially on her upper lip). Their eyes have varying styles. Rochelle’s eyes have thicker lower lines, larger pupils and irises, and much longer eyelashes (ghoul is using the same mascara Yuma). Raven’s eye paint looks much more crisp, seem to fit the mold better, and a bit more detailed (her make-up uses several more colors than Rochelle’s). Raven’s eyebrows look a bit pixelated though.

Yup, their profiles look pretty darn similar. Now her HORNS! YESSSSSS! Look at those detailed horn ridges.

They’re detailed all the way around too.

Her painted scalp could be a bit better. You can also see that her horns are separate pieces.

Now, lets look at their “ears.”

Rochelle doesn’t have ears in the traditional spot.

Her ears are very similar to Create a Monster, but her ear tip is a lot more rounded and the inverted scalloped edge is a lot deeper too.

Garrett’s ear is actually more detailed than either of them (there is more detail on the tip of the ear and the base of the ear). The veins are much more prominent too.

Now let’s look at their wings!!

Raven’s are the BIGGEST by far. Even the shape is completely different (I thought maybe it was a bigger version of Rochelle’s but looks like it’s a completely different mold).

Rochelle’s and Creat a Monster both have two separate wings, and a lot texture to their wings. Garrote has a smoother texture and is only one piece -THAT NEVER STAYS IN- Raven’s wings actually does stay in REALLY well.

The front has veins, tons of cracks (that off white color that doesn’t like to be photographed), and lightly translucent. ….I wonder if they will reuse this mold in some aspect for Ru Paul’s dragon MH doll??

Yup, no veins on the back. I wonder how it will look if I add a light wash to those cracks…

She also has these little horns on the top of her wings. Mine had some scratched off paint…yay…also, the horns don’t look cleanly sculpted (especially compared to her horns).

Yeah, her horns look a lot more defined. Also, this is as far down as her arms go at the shoulder…

Also, her arm joint on her left arm is messed up. She can bend it but it really did not want to turn around.

Well, I guess I can look at her expensive branded clothes. In Part 2!

Feathers. Feathers everywhere. The teenagers were panting heavily from their previous childish pillow-fight, staring at each other with red, sweaty faces. But something about the whole mood seemed to change…shifting into something else…something unfamiliar. The sudden tension between Severus and Julia became palpable, wavering in thick air. His voice cut the awkward silence between them. “What is this all about, Jules?” Brushing the cheeky strand of hair - which seemed to have a life on its own…always falling over his left eye - out of his face, Severus glanced at her, narrowing his eyes. He didn’t know, what to think about her latest antics. Would she be the next person, who would abandon him? He knew it…he shouldn’t have gotten too attached to her….he shouldn’t have allowed her to break through his walls. “You’re pathetic, Severus!”, he scolded himself internally, coursing his heart for this feeling of hope, that he had given permission to grow in his chest. “You should have known better than that.”

“Sevy, I…”, her voice broke mid sentence, when she recognised the familiar expressions of annoyance and disappointment in his face. No…this was not supposed to happen! This was the moment, when Julia knew, that she couldn’t hold herself back anymore. She couldn’t lose him! Her friend! Her companion through thick and thin! Taking a deep breath, Julia took his hand in hers and revealed her deepest feelings for him. It was now or never!

“Sevy, from the very first moment, when I've seen you in the Great Hall...this way too skinny, raven haired boy with his adorably crooked nose and those beautiful - and yet so sad - obsidian eyes...l've been fallen head over heels for you!”, she blurted out…feeling her heart beating up to her throat. There was no way back for her now, that was for sure.

“Jules…what…”, but before Severus could react to her blunt confession, Julia stopped him from talking, shaking her head vigorously. “Listen to me, Sevy! Let me explain this to you. It’s…it’s your soul!”, she stuttered nervously, stumbling over her own words.

“Your soul has always seemed to be surrounded by some kind of magnetic field, Sevy. And my poor soul is constantly lingering on it…desperately trying to get attached to yours.” Julia’s cheeks went scarlet, but it was too late…she couldn’t stop herself from confessing her feelings to her best friend anymore.

“I’m like a goddamn moth…”, she uttered nervously, “and you…you’re the light! I…I can’t help myself…you…you’re all, I can think about!”

„I am…the light?“ Severus was speechless. Never would he have considered himself as a light…and especially not as a light to someone! But he couldn’t say anything further to his best friend‘s confession…not since Julia just didn’t stop talking!

„I don't expect anything from you, Severus. My love for you is…unconditionally…and…undeniably.“, she continued with her flow of words. This wasnt new to Severus, he knew Julia’s habit of losing herself in an endless stream of rhapsody over the most random things. But he had never expected to become the subject of her rambling speech…and she still didn’t come to an end!

„I will find you inside your own darkness, Severus...no matter, where you are…no matter, where you’re hiding yourself from the world! I want to be the light, that leads you home. I will break through the cage, you've built around yourself. And I won't ever let you go!“, declared Julia boldly before she interrupted herself, holding her breath. Suddenly, there was only one thought left in her mind: “Oh no…what have I done?!”

This was a little snippet from one of my more innocent stories, which I’m writing in my sleepless nights in order to cope with my own situation…and gosh, I’m so fucking nervous to share this with you all for the very first time.

Even though I’m someone, who always seemed to be quite self-confident towards others, I’m only a very insecure and overly sensitive person on the inside. My whole life, there was always one thought in the back of my head: What if I’m not good enough? What if I’m nothing but a failure?

And since I’m struggling with this cruel disease ME/CFS, which completely cuts me off from the life, I’ve used to known…my insecurities and vulnerabilities are growing even deeper. So, this is a sign of trust, you wonderful people of Snapedom! I’m trusting you with a tiny piece of my heart…a tiny piece of my true self.

My friend, the wonderfully talented artist @snake-queen7, drew this beautiful artwork of Sevy and Jules in the middle of their pillow-fight….and you did a fantastic job, my dear! Thank you for letting my fantasies come to life…for allowing me to feel alive again through your excellent art!
