Adorably cheeky modern obi by KyoWakka inspired by folk hero Nezumi kozô, an Edo period Robin-hood-like folk hero actually named Nakamura Jirokichi.

The nickname Nezumi kozô lit. means "rat brat", but here the thief relieving the rich of their koban (oval gold coin) is... a cat!?

I love this design sooo much: the glowing lanterns of the party searching this phantom thief + the rat-shaped shadow are super cute details!

Interesting sight in my pet rats' hideout... This is a solid gold Montreal Olympics pin I found in a thrift store grab bag, and the rats have taken it and put it in their hideout like a decoration. They have clearly learned of intrinsic value and likewise learned to engage in thievery. I fear how powerful they may yet become.

Shang Qinghua is absolutely a thief

But he's a smart thief

He steals useful items and secrets from minor demons and certain merchants

The things he takes from Qian Cao's stores are easily hidden and the money from the melon seed crop goes right in his pocket.

He steals very little but extremely important things from Yue Qingyuan but very very rarely and he has nightmares of being caught

Before the Qi Deviation he never stole from Shen Qingqiu

After the reveal of his fellow Transmigrator he openly steals from his friend. Pilfering loose change and snacks (and leaves little annoying tokens of friendship)

He has stolen once from Sha Hualing and she still hasn't found out it was him

He only stole one thing from Luo Binghe and he was more an accomplice then the mastermind

(besides he got his Shizun back anyway)

When he admits to being a thief to his King he is quick to explain how he never steals from Mobei Jun. They are too close and besides, he doesn't need to. Mobei usually gives him whatever he wants

Often without being asked

Mobei Jun, with a face as serious as a grave, replies: "you have stolen from this King. You have stolen his heart"

And Shang Qinghua immediately chokes on his own spit before pretending to faint so he doesn't have to deal with sentiment
