well. that was bullshit. but not for the reasons you’d expect. i actually really liked the scene! it was absolutely beautifully acted and shot, mariska and chris knocked it out of the park as i expected they would. i also thought it was incredibly in character for liv to not be ready just yet, she admitted to amanda that she still hasn’t forgiven him for abandoning her and that makes sense! she’s been left by every single person in her life with the EXCEPTION of fin and noah. she’s scared to move into a relationship with elliot, have it not work out and lose him forever. this all lines up with the literal 24 years of canon that we have at our fingertips. it also shows how much olivia trusts him, she trusts him to pick up her son. she’s admitted TO HIM that she WANTS HIM but she simply can’t RIGHT NOW. HOWEVER i AM upset about how it was baited, they switched out the scenes last minute. they promoted a completely different scene and switched it LAST MINUTE and olivia, instead of crumbling and letting elliot hold her up, was left to prop herself AGAIN. and even if they were always going to do the bait and switch of the scenes they shouldn’t have promoted the scene the way it was, if they were always gonna do this they should’ve left us in the dark instead. it would’ve been better received, and allowed for fans to allow the natural progression of their relationship.

Welcome to Icarus lives in my brain rent-free. yes it's me ranting about them-

So- i was brainrotting ranting with @jinxybri about Icarus and just everything about them, from their house to their relationship and status with Fable.

So we started off talking about the memories, because Bee read something Sage said about Icarus only remembering leaving Rae to get beaten up as a kid, so they think they're a bad brother, and always will be. Now- I believe this worked out in Fable's favour so Icarus could be easily manipulated to do as he wanted when he came out of the portal. He manipulated and rewrote all of Icarus' childhood memories of him and Rae to be terrible and bad, so Fable could manipulate and gaslight them into thinking Fable could fix everything. And it worked. It worked so Icarus could stay with Fable. It worked so Icarus could think they were a bad brother, they always have been and never will be anything different.

That leads to my next thing of their relationship with Fable and how it correlates to all the way back in s1. I'm thinking about this because my brain has decided to pick, at random, a thing Sherb said about them and how it's the same way they acted with Enderian (whomp whomp she's dead /lh). Back in s1, Icarus acted the way they did to Enderian in hopes of getting seen by her, to get approval that what they're doing isn't for nothing. In the end, they never really got that, did they? And then Fable came in. Fable promised them, once he figured out they had powers *cough* quixis *cough*, he promised them he could fix all their wrongs, could bring people back. So Icarus obeyed.

During the Cathedral of War stream, Icarus even snapped at Fable once he killed Centross, their best friend. They were yelling and standing a good distance away from their father who tried to murder them out of greed, out of a want for endless power, before he said he could bring Centross back.

Then Icarus listened. Fable had said he could bring Centross back, and Icarus agreed. Fable said that he would return if Icarus joined him, helped him gain the powers from other gods, to hand him the reaver. And Icarus obeyed.

It's the same thing they did with Enderian. They do all these things to get the attention of Fable, to get their father's approval and to be seen, and Fable gives them that. Fable gives them what they want to receive. Fable gives them the approval, and love that a "father" should, and yet...he's only ever said sorry once. He's never given Icarus a hug. He's never around to be a father.

And he never was.

Fable has trapped Icarus in this birdcage of a house. Maybe the amount of doors and exits Sherb put on the houses Icarus got was intentional, maybe it wasn't. I'd like to think it was, and so would Bee. In every house, there has been more than 1 exist to leave. Season 1 had 4 doors. Season 2 had 2 doors downstairs, and towers to leave from with an exist by the farm as a balcony, and an exit on the opposite side. Season 3 had 7 exits before fable closed of four. They had their front door, an open potion area where they could easily fly from, 2 balconies and their landing pad, as well as a staircase to exit their room and go to Brian if needed. Now, their current house has only one exit, one entrance. A one-way staircase to enter or exit, where Fable could easily block if he felt the need to.

It emphasis the point of them being trapped in a birdcage. Before, they had so much connection to everyone, they were going out occasionally and they spoke with the whole village, then Fable cut them off. Their landing pad was sealed up once Unlocked happened, and then Quixis changed it to iron bars. Now, their house has only one window. One window which Quixis is one glitch away from making it into iron bars. Really showing the birdcage fact. A display cage for those who found the house. A taunting method like an animal in a zoo, watching everything without being able to see it properly.

Their window being in line with the Cave Of First Breath. They're constantly taunted by the grave of their best friend who died, who won't be able to come back without the "help" of their father. And their bed is right by the window, too. How many nights have they actually slept there? How many of the nights they have stayed there, staring out that window and at that cave?

Then they had to go in there with Rae and Fable to see Isla. The panic they had at hearing that, the grave of their best friend, trying so hard to not grieve the loss of their friend. And now their mother was in there too, stuck in a pocket dimension that was too bright for their eyes.

No matter how many times Icarus has tried to ignore the grief, they can't not grieve. Centross died in the cave they face. Centross died by the hands of their father who promised months ago that they would get him back soon.

That was 4 months ago.

4 months ago they were told Centross would be returned safely. 4 months ago Icarus witnessed the death of their best friend. 4 months ago they nearly got murdered by their father. And they think about it a lot, despite telling themself it's fine, that everything will work out perfectly fine, they can't escape the nightmares if the nightmares are constantly staring him in the face.

What would've happened if they died instead? If Centross appeared to late? If he didn't arrive at all? What would've happened if they just...weren't here now? Who would take their place? Fable would attack Rae, and Rae would either surrender himself again to Fable, or die fighting him.

And they were offered the hug. Icarus was offered a hug the day Rae and Aax found them. The day they were finally debating with themself if they should just start grieving Centross' death. They wanted that hug. icarus wanted the hug from Rae. Gods, it had been forever since anyone gave them a hug. The last time they got one was 5-6 months ago by Centross. If Fable hadn't come, Icarus would've gone for that hug. They would've taken it happily and maybe Fable saw that and thought they would change sides.

That Icarus would leave Fable like everyone else did. Like how Isla, his "wife", took Icarus and Rae away from him. To keep them safe from his greed. And now they've fallen back to him again. And Icarus still believes they don't need to change.

That they shouldn't change. That it's useless to try, even at the very least. And they can't even do anything right, no matter what they try. It's always going to be wrong to everyone else, not themself. The day they killed Momboo solidified one fact for them.

They're nothing more than a villain in this story.

Why bother being something else?

I saw a post on here saying that it was weird for people to be angry at the finale of Last Twilight because we're implying that Day's character arc and progression was pointless and by doing so were implying that any personal growth made by person irl who reovers from a temporary disability is pointless... I didn't want to reblog that post and add my response there because I don't want to come across as confrontational or hijack the post and points of the OP but I felt the need to put my thoughts out there.

I'll be honest, I think this is a bad faith argument. People aren't implying that Day's progression as a character was pointless. People are saying that the ending rendered the narrative pointless. This is a story after all, and narrative is important.

For 11 and 3 quarter episodes the narrative of the show centred on Day learning how to accept his disability, regain his confidence, and re-enter society all while falling in love and learning to accept love without assuming it comes from a place of pity. This was the story they were telling, this was the main narrative arc... and they undid it all in part 4 of the final episode by giving the stereotypical ending that reaffirms the idea that disability needs to be "fixed" in order for the person to have the happiest life that they can.

I agree that making the eye donation a plot point basically ensured that the ending would be a typical fix it type of situation. But plenty of disabled people, myself included, with chronic lifelong conditions, are tired of these plot points. And many people think that the narrative would have been stronger had Day's condition not been something that could have been cured. To able bodied people, that may sound like too depressing a fate, but that's the whole problem... not allowing life long disability to be normalised or to become something we don't pitty keeps these mindsets alive and perpetuate the cycle of assuming the lives of disabled people are lesser in enrichment and value.

Last Twilight had a real opportunity and it breaks my heart that it fell at the last hurdle...

1. I don’t know what to think of the seraphim’s relationship now, cuz they all call luci brother, but (at least with Michael) he seems to be… Yk, pretty into his dear hyung.

Like- isn’t this incest? Ofc they are all children of god but they even CALL him brother so, yea. I mean I don’t really mind it, cuz I know this game has dark themes, so if it turns out they ‘love him alot’ then I wouldn’t hate on it. It’s fiction, I don’t need to get mad over a work of fiction. Just, should one be allowed to ship it then? Idk man, the ship lucifer x Michael is now a little… ehhh, questionable. I’d want them to get along though, their family issues pains me so much.

2. Honestly, god is kind of an ass in the whb universe. It’s one thing that he disappeared from those immature children, but he also couldn’t take responsibility for their actions? If you are a parent and your kids does some bs you have to take responsibility as their guardian. God, ffs, teach your kids, get them under control like there are so many ways. You can literally create anything, make them wear a bracelet that informs you whenever they have murderous intentions and resurrect the dead or smt, put your dogs on a shorter leash.

3. I kind of have a feeling lucifer, since he hallucinates, would sometimes mistake people as his brothers. I wonder how he’d react to my MC? Cuz she looks like Michael, since I based her of me. Anyhow, it’d be kinda funny, just imagine it:

“I’m the descendant of Solomon.”

“No, you are Michael.”

“The fuck, you don’t see those tits? I don’t even have a wing!”

“You ripped your wings off too?”

4. I posted a fic I worked on yesterday, and that was a batshit decision. Because now everyone is concentrated on the new update, and the post got buried behind all the spoilers. I should have posted it like in a week, when things calm down. I think I’ll actually, I spend a lot of time on it.

This is a shit angle to pause it in, but, both Laurens & Burr are on stage during the Schuyler Sisters right, and also a moment before, Mulligan and Lafayette were on the screen, im probably reading way too far into this but what if its the ones that fought for freedom most leaving last since the lyric is how theyre looking for a mind at work, which could mean wanting to get rights, which Laurens fought against slavery and im pretty sure Burr was proved to have moreso 'feminist' thoughts thab what the time normally had. Its either that or amybe its 2 of the most important figures in Hamiltons life, musical Hamilton especially, since Peggy, Laurens, Angelica, Burr, Eliza & the actor im pretty sure play Eacker, is all on the screen, all of which play large parts in Hamilton's life (peggy and hamilton were kinda besties yk ''peggy confides in me'

oh the lore.

i just need to write out my thoughts. so you can absolutely ignore this. as it's basically just a rant about all things recently learned or just me being a lil me. so. icarus and rea get along without fable. which makes sense fable is a manipulator. but also the only blood relative icarus can/wanted to talk to. rea had enderian and has writing,memory and stories about isla through her. icarus only has fables stories. only the things that make him look good. corrupted icarus was just a side of icarus. it was just them but with stronger wants and needs for what they most desire in s1 that was enderian noticing them in s3 it's fables praise as he has already done what enderian didn't yet that praise only comes with helping further the once god's goal. TAIL! i love it. it's great. and caspian remains the most guy guy in ghaae icarus now knows fable has isla. and i fear for icarus. cause he's gonna mention it to their dad.

there be no up just down when it comes to the brothers. their relationship is just a pile of dust. and fable is to blame. but whats most ironic to me is that in s1 enderian was the reason rae and icarus were on different sides. now icarus hurt rae cause one of them was able to forgive

does anyone relate to this like there is nothing urgently wrong with me mentally however sometimes i have very strange and disturbing thoughts and i have no idea where they come from (not talking about intrusive thoughts , yes sometimes like most people i have these but at least i know where they come from)

like for example im not sure why i get so jealous sometimes and why my response to jealousy is to be disgusted in them… ik it’s to have superiority over them but why do i want that…. like…. it’s actually frustrating me because it’s such a strong feeling and i seriously have zero clue where it’s coming from and it’s not a normal feeling or reaction… i mean even if i try to understand i can trace it back but even when i trace it back i have no idea why it could be traced back to that

anyways i said this because i was like there isn’t anything urgently wrong with me but some thoughts and feelings i have r lowkey weird and i really need to figure out why they happen…… so i do want to consider therapy for this reason there is just so much i would like to understand, many things i can understand about myself but jealousy and how it’s connected to superiority and disgust is something i cannot understand no matter how hard i try
