a list of cool website i found and use
radiooooo.com- pretty much you can listen to any music any place in the world and also... you can choose any TIME. Sometimes a person just likes to listen to russian music during the 1970s yk? (i recommend btw)
onelook.com (thesaurus)- can't seem to find the word you're thinking of? What the hell is that blanket that you only use for the couch/living area??? Oh wait- a throw. Go check out onelook, it has definitely saved me time for my writing.
datayze.com- CALLING ALL WRITERS, or i mean if youre gonna have a baby too ig this would work. datayze literally will help you find a name for your oc! And if you already have a name it gives you alot of good info you may want to know about your oc'c name. Or you could always make a name by mixing two together, like you can... on datatyze.
bandcamp.com- I cannot for the life me explain this website but TRY IT OUT, YALL. You can find alot of underground artists or new songs :D
mix.com- kind of like tumblr? but kind of like reddit? but also kind of like twitter? what im trying to say is that it's called mix for a reason. It takes cool things from multiple different websites and compiles it into one website, really cool when you're into a really specific fandom sometimes.
lab.nationalmedals.org- tbh idk, it's pretty and cool. it's pretty cool. i used to play this a lot.
worldchatclock.com- i use this for some of my friends that i volunteered with online to find a perfect time for us to meet. It finds a time where which you and up to a few people in different time zones can find a perfect meeting time.
earth.nullschool.net- so ive been getting back into flying my kite and this has been a life saver for my time.
radiogarden.com- i made a whole post about this website, uhh just look it up or try and find the post- im sorry im getting tired pLease
(I have like 2 other websites but i am not going to log into my old school email to try and find the bookmarked websites)
HONORABLE MENTION (actually i did this on purpose. best for last yk?)
azejournal.com- HELLO AROS AND ACES OR BOTH!! THIS IS THE WEBSITE FOR YOU. This is full of cool poems, stories, personal experiences, etc, about being aro or ace or both. I am literally in LOVE (no romo) with this website, it makes me feel more understood sometimes. Also I just love seeing us as a minority having a safe space to make and post creatively.

Lately I’ve been leaning towards discovering new music through radio and music video stations, as they do a lot more in helping me find new music than streaming services ever did.
I think the problem is that streaming’s algorithmic nature leads to locking yourself into a comfort bubble with the same old playlists with the same old recommendations. “Made For You” playlists further lock you into that box as long as the songs get more streams.
Meanwhile, I watched Rage recently (the Australian equivalent of MTV) and it got me hooked on Reel Big Fish and Little Simz, two amazing artists I had no interest in before because I was never made aware of their music. I rediscovered The KLF through listening to Radio X on the RadioGarden app. Two mediums of listening to music known for constant repeats of popular songs have done more for me (in terms of finding music) than Spotify has ever done.
At the end of the day, all three still want your money, but Spotify wants your money by locking you in your comfort zone and all your “favourite playlists”.

1950s radio horror is so good because you'll get some chilling description of an eldritch creature and then hear a bored intern going "graaagh. graaaagh." into a poorly set up mic

From Jenan Matari:
There is currently 1 working radio station left in Gaza City that is still speaking live:
Al-Quds radio 102.7
You can listen to it on the radio garden live app or on their website
You can hear the Israeli warplanes and bombs as they strike

OKAY GUYS I JUST SAW A REPOST OF A POST BUT LIKE I DIDNT WANT TO REPOST THE WHOLE THING BUT PRETTY MUCH IT WAS TALKING ABOUT WEBSITES AND THE INTERNET, YADA YADA YADA (THAT STUFF), BUT LIKE ONE PERSON MENTIONED:
RADIOGARDEN
i have been using this for maybe the last year and a half. PLEASE PEOPLE, for the love of WHATEVER ENTITY OR NON ENTITY YOU MAY BELIEVE IN... try out radiogarden. You can listen to radios across the WORLD, like:
I want to listen to a very specific genre without having to go digging for it and making spotify playlist for it? BAM, radiogarden
I want to listen to a radio station in New York or LA but I live 100s or 1000s of miles away? BOOM, radiogarden
I have the random urge to know what type of music is being played in Greenland bc I genuinely thought it was just a land of ice and no way people could live there? AGAIN, radio garden, FOR. THE. WIN.
please. PLEASE. try radiogarden <3

oh right you're a huge music nerd, how'd I forget that. HEY GECKO check out radio.garden
it is a website that I can only get to work on my phone's firefox browser, maybe you'll have different luck there, but what it does is make a big spinning globe with green dots on it that represent various radio stations around the world, and you can zoop down and check out what's playing on the radio without the expense of international travel
my personal favorites:
Kassel, Germany: Gothic Radio by Radio Bob
Lyon, France: Allzic Radio Gothique
Sydney, Austrailia: Halloween Listening Party (it's year-round)
Longyearbyen, Norway: Arctic Outpost AM1270 (it's all old-timey fallout music)
Jersey City, NJ United States: WFMU Sheena's Jungle Room
Richmond, VA United States: Death.FM
Osaka, Japan: r/a/dio
Osaka, Japan again: Gyusyabu Retro PC Game Radio
Jarfalla, Sweden: Clubalicious Radio
Barrow, AK United States KBRW-AM 680 (not so much for the programming, but for the location - this is where 30 Days of Night took place)
and obviously there's a few more stations out there to find. this thing even picks up a few air traffic control towers too. haven't found any number stations yet, but maybe you'll have some luck there
Hell yeah, I love Radio Garden! A family friend of ours is a local radio presenter and I’ve been using the app ever since he told me about it!
Cheers for the recs, I’m fascinated by that Halloween station…

Someone's definitely talked about this before but radio.garden is a really cool website where you can listen to any radio station globally. Currently listening to air traffic control in Japan and its so nice hearing human voices from across the world, I feel so connected for some reason.
Anyways yeah, if you've got some spare time or curiosity, you should check it out.

Some highlights from skipping around world radio stations on a site called Radio Garden:
I thought I’d found someone speaking Welsh in Japan, but it turns out that if you’re hovering nowhere near any stations on the map, it defaults back to your own local station
Arriving at a station in Arizona right on time to hear ‘YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND-’
Somewhere in England in the most dramatic voice possible- ‘according to my trusty dictionary, sorry means showing regret’
Yelling Italians
A club-style song with nearly a full minute of what I can only describe as scrubbing sounds used as a bass drop, found in China
The radio hosts take on the same tone everywhere, from Zambia to Wales to the Philippines and back
I did NOT know that the city of Regina in Canada is pronounced like that
Local traditional music live from the studio in Scotland
Arriving on the Isle of Man- ‘Mom’s spaghetti’
So, so many corny American commercials
Listened to like two minutes of a station in Nebraska thinking it was a news report, before realising it was a Bible study thing
Found Johnny Cash in Colorado, then Elvis somewhere in the southeastern US
Arriving in Iceland- ‘Galileo Galileo GaLiLeO’
