honestly one of the greatest joys of speaking another language is surprising people who assume you can’t understand them xD

like i was in cadets yeah? and every summer i’d go stay on a military base for training, and ofc there’re people from all over the country there. so at one point a few guys in the flight as well as our officer are talking & they realize they all speak french so they switch languages right?

well i was doing something nearby & lowkey eavesdropping—i would’ve joined in but i can’t hold a conversation at a fluent pace so i didn’t bother, but i was having fun trying to understand what they were saying—when the officer, who was usually very strict and proper, says “tabarnak,” which is basically the strongest curse word that exists in québécois (it literally means tabernacle, which is where the eucharist—the body and blood of christ—are stored in a catholic church, but is used kinda like the word fuck in english. all the strongest curse words in québec french are related to catholicism)

so i look at him with this huge exaggerated gasp & say “sir” in the most scandalized tone i can muster, and this poor man oh my god. he WHIPS AROUND to look at me with the most stricken expression on his face like “YOU SPEAK FRENCH?! WHY DIDN’T YOU SAY SOMETHING” and i just shrug and go “you didn’t ask”

it’s been years and i’m still laughing about it 💀💀💀

#it was seriously funny #and ofc i wasn’t actually offended but i was very shocked to hear him swear #so i was playing it up a bit but that was my automatic reaction #but i didn’t expect HIM to be so shocked that i understood #ig they thought they were the only francophones around?#which i mean. idk if i would be considered a francophone because i’m not fluent #but like. you don’t need to be fluent to recognize the most profane curse word that exists in québécois xD #tho ig maybe you’re not expecting people who aren’t from québec to know it bc it’s such a regional thing?#and like yeah basically everyone in canada learns french in school no matter what province you’re from #but they definitely aren’t teaching you the sacres #so i can see how it would be unexpected but also. people think that a conversation held in public in a different language is private #it isn’t xD you never know who might understand you #so yeah. very very funny #jx.txt #edit: i said basically the strongest only bc you can stack curse words for greater effect #so if you said something like ‘hostie de crisse de câlice de tabarnak’ ofc that is much stronger #but when it comes to individual words tabarnak is absolutely the strongest #it’s stronger than fuck is in english. more in line with motherfucker i’d say?#(funnily enough in french—in canada at least—fuck isn’t officially considered a curse word. you can say it on tv/the radio/etc uncensored)

"Hey Kev?" You called out to your boyfriend, who was currently immersed in whatever he was doing on his phone.

"Yeah?" He responded, looking up from his phone and focusing his attention on you.

Smirking, you decided to poke a little fun at him because you were just that much of a menace, and the next words you uttered were,

"Imagine having milk bags."

"Wha–hey!" Kevin exclaimed, greatly offended.

"That was so uncalled for! That's not even from my part of Canada!"

"Too bad, so sad," You teased, your smirk growing into a wider evil grin.

"Oh, is that how it is? Well, imagine having greasy fried food every day,” He retorted, hands on his hips like a child sassing back at their parents.

“Hey! That is not true!” You protested, hands up in the air in disbelief.

“Imagine using the metric system.”

“Imagine using the imperial system, who even understands that?” Kevin grumbled. “Americans.”

“Ugh, rude!” You scowled, arms crossed.

“And for your information, the imperial system is VERY easy to understand.”

“Uh, how are cups easier to understand than milliliters?” Kevin questioned, an eyebrow raised.

There was radio silence from you, as you didn’t know how to reply.

“Exactly,” He smirked, a smug tone in his voice.

“Well–well–imagine curling, what kind of weird sport is that?” You spluttered out, desperate for a comeback.

“Imagine football, I can’t believe you guys cheer for people who literally wrestle over a ball and kick it ONCE,” Kevin emphasized the ‘once’.

“Well imagine maple leaf!”

“Imagine stars and stripes!”

“Imagine Canada!”

“Imagine America!”

By now, you and Kevin were nose to nose, with you standing on your toes to reach Kevin’s height. After an awkward pause, both of you burst out laughing because of how ridiculous this little squabble was.

“Wow, that was…unnecessarily intense,” Kevin managed a breathy laugh, backing away from you to give you both room.

“We still love each other, right?”

“Hmm, I don’t know–do I?” You challenged, a humorous tone in your voice.

“Ouch, you’re questioning your love for me?” Kevin mock-gasped, putting his hand over his heart in a dramatic motion.

“That, (Y/N), hurt, right here.”

“Sorry, not sorry, Kev,” You walked up to him, patting his cheek lightly before placing a gentle kiss on it. His face bloomed bright pink and was contorted into a sulky pout.

“You’re mean.”

“I know.”

im still on my sga bullshit, honestly don't think i'll ever be done with it and im happy with that lmao although i am also lowkey a bit obsessed with this new brand of dog/cat food that's becoming super popular here in canada, it's called open farm and they're incredibly transparent in the sense that you can trace the sourcing of EVERY SINGLE INGREDIENT in their products, they've got super high standards both for their ingredients and the sustainability and eco friendliness of the farms and suppliers they work with for their ingredients. sorry i'm sure this isn't what y'all meant but my job is my life and this brand is currently the fastest growing brand of pet food in canada and i'm in love with it and want to support it more

no, but in all seriousness, i love the new blog! this must have taken so long to make! the idea is so cute, too, the vibes are immaculate. I feel like i'm actually at the seaside.

i know i haven't sent a letter in for a while, and i'm sorry, it's just been a super hectic week. i went to visit my grandparents this weekend, and they don't have internet at their cottage, so i wasn't able to access tumblr, but i did manage to finish an essay that has been stressing me out this past week, and i'm really proud of it! in othwe news, i went thrifting on friday, and found the CUTEST white maxi skirt, plus some pretty pajama shorts with blue flowers. i also got some makeup from the mall, including some nice blush/highlighter, and some lip oil. my little brother (5th grade) came third place in a district-wide chess tournament, which makes me a little worried about him getting bullied, but i'm still proud of him lol. seriously, though, that kid is scary smart. he's definitely the favourite child. (joking, I hope). do you have siblings? i have two younger ones, my brother and my sister, and while they can be a pain in the butt and hog the nintendo switch, i'd still die for them any day.

i'm thinking about converting the radio station to a flower shop, if only because there's better inspiration pics on pinterest and i'm not extroverted enough to be a dj lol.

no worries about the time between letters. i'll always wait for all of you!! i actually spent my weekend by the beach but i had the worst goddamn cell service like fr not a single bar in sight- pissing me off lmao. congrats on finishing that essay tho!! i FINALLY found time to talk to my ap gov teacher and she was a massive help with my FRQ4 (essay answer, basically) bc ya girl was STRUGGLING. also, i loveeeee when i have a good thrift. i found the cutest tank top the other day but it's been too gloomy to wear as of late.

also, about your brother, TELL HIM CONGRATS FOR ME!! my school is kinda strange bc we're also having chess competitions rn but they are actually hyped up more than football games. everyone who competes is actually so cool and well loved, so just let him know that cool people play chess too!!

i've got an older sister who's pretty cool. but...tbh, i think in every single other universe, im the older sister (lemme explain-). she's got really bad anxiety so my parents have always kinda babied her and there have never really been any expectations put on her, so they were all kinda put on me. i've gotten really good at lying to take the blame for things that she did bc her anxiety and mental issues would just make my parents reaction worse so i just take the blame bc she's my sister. of course im gonna look out for her, ya know??? she also went through a weird phase of wishing i didn't exist to my face when i was like eight BUT she's gone to therapy and apologize for that so we good!! i truly do love her but i know im her protector, not the other way around!! which is chill, ya know!

ANYWAYS MOVING ON FROM THE KINDA TRUAMA DUMP- i think a floral shop would be so so cute!! and while i LOVE the dj theme, i think it's kinda hard but the floral shop will be so much easier and wayyy easier to find pics for too!!

warnings! [light angst, worried y/n, had to make them stop at a supermarket bc it’s a road trip, adam is a mess lord oh my god, cussing, y/n and christian talking shit abt people in high school, adam is a wee bit depressed, it’s long]

you wait for christian to load your bags in to the backseat. “you got everything?” you ask. “yeah” he reply’s getting in the front seat. “you do realize that the next show is in two days right?” he asks as you start up the car’s engine. “and that this trip will take eighteen hours back and forth?” he adds. “yep” you answer with tight lips. “but can we put on a show without the third idiot?” you ask looking at him. “right”.

the first three hours of the ride were silent, mostly because christian fell asleep and you didn’t have the heart to turn up the radio to the fill the slightly jarring silence since it might wake him up. all you could think about was how fucking stupid adam was for just getting up and leaving you just like that. he was never the one who runs away from his feelings, he was always upfront and honest with you, even in the smallest most minuscule of things. all you could think about was how he was. you needed to know if he was okay, both mentally and physically. is he sleeping well? has he been eating healthy? he better have remembered taking his vitamins today … or the last couple days.

“god fucking damn it adam”

4:44 pm, that same day…

you were knee deep in thought when christian began moving around. “i’m hungry” was the first thing he said. you had just passed a sign that said that nearest stop was 10 miles away. a thought crossed your mind as lightly gasped. “what’s wrong?” christian asked, confused. you mouth hung open for a second before saying, “adam’s birthday is tomorrow”. “oh shit. we forgot” christian sighed. “oh no, you forgot, i was just distracted by everything” you defended. christian just narrowed his eyes at you, before saying “we’ll get him a key chain or something…” he trailed. you look over at him with a ‘deadass?’ face. “what? it’s not like he’s been the greatest friend for the last couple days!” he said. “true that” you nodded.

slowly but surely, you pulled up on a 7/11. next to it was a subway and a tim horton’s. “can you grab us proper food while i just get junk from the 7/11?” you asking parking the car. “sure” christian said grabbing his jacket. a cold breeze hit your face as you entered the convenience store, these places were always so cold for no reason. you walked towards the fridges at the back, scanning the drinks available through the freezing glass. you grabbed at least eight juice boxes, two tubs of cookie dough ice cream, and on your way to the cashier you took some bags of crisps.

at the register was a younger man, nineteen, twenty at most. curly poofy hair and some pimples here and there. “how’s traffic out there?” he asked with a thick french accent. his name tag read ‘jean-pierre’, “barely any honestly” you replied. “do you happen to sell keychains by any chance?” you ask. without missing a beat, the guy pulled out this massive bowl that had wooden and metallic chains on it. you dug through it as he scanned your items. ‘i <3 canada!’, ‘toronto, canada’ and more canada related ones came up, until one caught your eyes. ‘happy birthday you sexy whore’, was it appropriate for you current situation? debatable. would adam like it? most definitely yes. was it a little too on the nose? absolutely. “i’ll take this one!” you smiled. the guy took it, eyeing the chain then you. “on me, cause you’re my favourite wrestler” he smiled. you eyes lit up, “i’m your favourite?” you ask, “of course! and my boyfriend loves edge and christian, edge is his favourite because he’s more unhinged, but we love you guys!” he said. “i also really like lita” he added

you both stood there for at least fifteen minutes talking about your favourite wrestlers, until you remembered that you’re out here for a reason. you quickly said goodbye and left. as you sat in your car seat you were met by a slightly grumpy christian. “you were gone for like half an hour bro” he complained. “my bad, the cashier guy was the best person ever”.

the ride was pretty decent, mostly you and christian eating and talking shit about people from high school. “remember that chick mikaela?” he asked, mouth full of fries. “oh my fucking god, i used to hate her” you said, christian was confused. “i thought you guys were friends..?” he muttered, “ no! bro, she was only friends with me because she liked adam” you said. “deadass?” he was more surprised than confused, “i swear, bro, there were so many girls that were friends with me because they wanted to get closer to adam. and to be fair though, i was a bit of a cockblock. i would always be like ‘oh he’s already seeing someone’ you know”. you admitted. “cockblock! cockblock! y/n, y/n, the cockblock!” he sang.

“c’mon man-“

“i didn’t want anyone near him-“

“wait, you loved him since high school?!” christian asked. “i thought it was obvious”, christian was dumbfounded for a second. “obvious?? you literally friendzoned him so many times bro” he said. “i did?” you were both equally confused. “let me list some of the times you did, lita’s birthday last year, prom, my 17th birthday, during our first european tour, when we first debuted, do i go on?” he said, sarcasm dripping from his comment. “i thought he was being overtly nice”

“he’s literally in love with you”

adam was a mess. he showered once ever since he came back, his hair was tangled, his under-eyes looked like he rubbed his eye with eyeliner on. he was in his old room, the wall in front of him had crayon and marker scribbles detailing his, yours and christian’s heights over the years. there were stickers all over his cupboard and bed frame and his old gaming console sat frozen in time next to three, tiny joysticks. adam laid back on his bed facing the ceiling. the night before he laid on his side staring at his bedroom’s door, he cried and his knuckles got sore. he knew that nothing will happen if he continues ignoring your calls, if he continues pretending that he’s not hurt, pretending that he doesn’t care. it was eating him from the inside, but some how he just wants you more. he felt like a flower bud in concrete, he felt incomplete, he wondered if you’ll ever meet. hopefully you noticed that he was gone by now, hopefully matt wasn’t taking up all your time. i didn’t even matter to him who you were with at this point, he just wanted to see you. so when you decide, it’s your time to arrive, he’s loved you for all of his life.

there was knock at his door, “hey…”, it was his mom, “yeah?” he said voice deep from not speaking in hours, “are you sure you’re okay? ‘cause this is the weirdest break you’ve ever had, y’know? like .. where’s jay? where’s y/n? you three are like conjoined triplets” she said sitting next to him. he sighed deeply, “can i be honest with you?” he asked, “well of course, i am your mom after all” she smiled sweetly.

“i’m in love with y/n, she’s all i can think about. it’s literally consuming me at this point. and like an idiot i ran away from my feelings, instead of saying something and i haven’t heard from her and christian in a while” he breathed out.

“oh” she said, “i thought we’re gonna say something surprising”.

adam just looked at his mom confused, “i just said all of that and it’s not surprising enough to you??” he asked slightly irritated. “that’s not the case, you’re feelings are obviously valid and you’re my son and everything, whatever, but you being in love with y/n isn’t news to me. it isn’t news to anyone, funny enough actually me and y/mom’s/n have this bet that you’ll get married by the time you’re twenty five” she joked.

“you have a bet on us?” adam giggled, first time since he came home. “yeah” she laughed. “c’mon get up, we’re gonna make cookies together, your favourite” she said as she stood my door’s frame. “just like when you were little”.

10:48 pm, even later.

after a long day of baking and listening to music with his mom, adam was slightly at peace. she always knew how to cheer him up. he was sprawled out on the living rooms couch, a plate of cookies resting on his torso while a movie he was watching played in the background. his mom had went to sleep a while ago, leaving adam alone with his thoughts. he thought about it for a while, if having you as his girlfriend wasn’t an option, he didn’t mind remaining as friends. granted it would burn his literal soul, because you gave him butterflies. all you had to do was walk away and pass him by, don’t acknowledge his smile when he tried to say hello to you.

simple as that, yet just the thought of you ignoring him physically hurt him. his mind ram miles and miles away, he couldn’t stop thinking about all the ways he can continue being friends with you, without it interfering with you and matt relationship. he couldn’t help but get emotional, that was years of friendship going down the drain. but that was the point of unrequited love, wasn’t it?

4:15, early in the morning

christian had taken over, as you were now asleep on the passenger seat. you had finally entered your hometown. the area was a little dark, pretty quite. apart from a couple cars driving into the night, nothing else was causing any type of noise.

he drove past several houses, recognizing some of them. he pulled up on your homes’ block, and there he could see them. the three houses in which you’ve all spent your childhood in. the lights at his house were all out, at your house the front porch lights was the only one on. the lights of the living room in adam’s were on. christian glanced at the digital clock before him, 4:20. (adam’s) mom was about to go on her morning run anytime soon. “y/n, wake up we’re here” he said parking the car. “we are?” you said rubbing your eyes, disoriented. “oh my god, we are”.

you stretched for a bit before asking “what time is it?”

“4:21”

“mom’s gonna go on a run”

“i was! until i decided to chew mint gum while drinking orange juice” you frown. christian smiled.

adam was shuffling about in the kitchen, looking for a glass to get some water. the large amount of sugar he had consumed from the cookies had caught up to him and he was parched. “oh my god, you scared me! why are you still awake?” his mom’s voice startled him. “i scared you?!” he sighed. “jeez, go get some sleep adam” she lightly patted on his back. “morning run?” he asked, “yeah, you wanna join me?” she asked, “maybe tomorrow…” adam muttered. a knock on the door interrupted their small talk, “can you fill this up for me?” she asked handing him her water bottle. “sure”.

a surprised gasp get from hell lips as she opened the door. “jay? y/n! what are you kids doing here?!”

adam felt his heart drop to his stomach. you were both here.

dts s2 e8-10

ep8: -this is cool to watch with the context of nico back in f1 today -theres just something so funny about when drivers get told something they dont wanna hear over the radio and its just dead silence. theyre real for that tho -nico/cyril jet "therapy" conversation is so iconic TO ME -i now know how alain prost is yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy -i think both of daniel's one year teammate tenures (nico & estie) are both sooooooooo interesting. ship wise fascinating. underrated as hell. -neurodivergent daniel propoganda "nico huuuuuulkenburg" is 100% a vocal stim -ESTIE my beloved. the original Toto Wolff's Special Lil Guy™ -no its so nice to see him in this gap where it was all up in the air knowing how much he's cemented his place in formula 1 now. (like i KNOW that alpine is a shitshow rn but he could easily find another seat. even if not he's made his mark :) -this makes me excited to see nico in the new season. he makes pretty good tv and it'll be cool to see how much of that has changed with age! -another narratively well done episode. nico's only episode and a wonderful one. i also noticed the music a lot, i think they way they used music to build tension was rly cool and not something i've noticed in general. really really good episode

ep9: -"george, i think, is a one-in-a-million driver" claire i LOVE U. ur brain is so big and correct -hes such a BABY here -i really really need a return of a williams focused episode next season. badly -claire you are so strong and brave for surviving this shitshow i dont know how yall did it -i wish this episode was put earlier in the season, i dont know why they didnt? since it focuses a lot on preseason/testing drama why is it episode 9? i know its never perfectly chronological but they couldve at least tried

ep10: -the pierre v alex narrative is so silly when clearly red bull sees them as disposable. like babes neither of you are EVER gonna be enough because youre not max :/ like 2 women fighting to be the favorite mistress of a man who will NEVER leave his wife!!!!! -"if [mclaren] continue this trend, they could be competing with the likes of red bull, possibly ferrari and mercedes for podiums" i just love a good quote that ages well. thank you will buxton -this sebchal crash is SO canada 2010 sebmark coded TO ME -the dread that filled my body when i realized. oh this is the lewis stops alex from getting a podium episode. pain incoming -seeing how happy pierre is abt the podium is So Nice knowing whats coming!!! (monza 2020) he deserves everything -while i dont particularly like carlos i think this first podium story/celebration is so cool and i'm so glad netflix were there to immortalize it -oh my god the "what about everyone else?" placard cracks me up every time aldkjfslkdfjalksdjflksfjd -pre teammate dando crumbs make me INSANE wuv them -"i think they ignored me the whole year, so [Netflix] can fuck off." who or what got you into F1?

my best friend got into it first, and spent the better part of two weeks to watch dts so that i could get a general run down before she let me watch races. and the only reason i did end up watching it was through her showing me a photo of charles leclerc everyday for a week of the two, and wore me down.

who was the very first F1 driver you supported? do you support them now? have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

danny was the first driver i watched and paid attention to, and i still do keep up with him and wish him all the best. and i would say that my opinions on him have evolved with time and his ever changing situation.

who’s your current favorite F1 driver?

if it isn't already obvious, it's carlos. my top 3 is carlos, charles, & danny. theyre my guys

is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? what made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?

maxiel is really the only pair that i would say i support. i think of them so often, more than charlos or even carlando. maxiel is real special to me. i think galex is a close second because ever since it an anon mentioned the idea of george and alex in merc together, i havent been able to shake it.

do your parents, siblings or relatives have a favourite team and/or favourite driver(s)?

i am the only person who really keeps up with f1. but id like to think my mom supports carlos bc she asks about how he does sometimes. (also fernando bc... viva españa!)

do you have any favourite races? are there any that stand out to you the most?

baku '22 (it was the first race i ever watched and its sooo wretched), canada '22 silverstone '22, austria '22, abu dhabi '22, & singapore '23. these all are races that are engraved in my memory, all the good and bad. i have many– too many– thoughts about em actually.

do you have a favourite circuit? can be from the past or from the current calendar.

i do looove circuit gilles villeneuve a lot, the hairpin at turn 10 turns me on. some special mentions: singapore, suzuka, & cota.

have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.

no, but i have seen george, lewis, & checo in person!

do you have a favourite F1 car? if so, what is it?

i can't think of any off the top of my head except the all chrome mclaren from once upon a time. but i wouldnt say its my favorite, just the one in the forefront of my memory

do you have a favourite one win wonder?

i'll say george because i love how emotional he gets. and i mean he makes me so angry but what a win for him ya know?

do you have any favourite quotes from the F1 world? this can either be inspirational or hilarious.

all of kimi's radios in the one compilation. he is sooo funny, and sooo dear to me. when seb said he wants to go home after hs crash with mark (?). it's on purpose, from carlos in singapore '23. of course daniel's whole enjoy the butterflies spiel. sooo dear to me even if i hate butterflies. special mention: for the first time in formula one, carlos sainz is victorious!!!
