Oryx x Male!Reader: Together and Closer

Trigger Warnings: Self-discovery (sexuality), comfort

Saif had come to enjoy working alongside you since you became a part of Rainbow a year ago, and he admired you quite a bit. You’d come from a harsh background, like many of your fellow operators did, and Saif found it admirable that you managed to get through what you did and turned yourself around. But what he didn’t realize was that it would also come with having romantic feelings for you.

At first, he was confused as to why his heart would practically beat out of your chest whenever you said hello to him, or when you’d train alongside him in scenarios to improve everyone’s strategies. Every time you pat his back to celebrate training gone well, he has to turn away to hide his blush. You two discussed your shared love for poetry, even writing your own for each other whenever you had the chance. Saif didn’t even know why he felt these feelings, he had never even felt them with a woman or a man that he could have possibly been interested in before. But you? You were different from anybody he should have had feelings for, and he liked different. You had similar upcomings, those of levels of brutality inflicted upon the two of you, but turning them into wills of peace and stoicism.

However, Saif believed he didn’t need the distraction. He had much bigger things to focus on than some man he’d only known for a year. He had a whole other army to train with Jalal, and had to focus on his work with Rainbow as well. Saif also didn’t want to deal with the pain of a possible rejection or the conclusion of his feelings for you. So, he decided to begin to distance himself from you to get his feelings in order. He didn’t care how difficult it was or how much it would hurt him, Saif needed to get himself in check.

You would prove to be his most difficult challenge.

Upon entering the weight room, he caught you in there alone. It was early in the morning, and you only ever came in this early if your memories of the past tormented you enough to wake you up. He wanted to strike up a conversation, but settled with a gentle wave instead. You wave back and beckon for him to come over to you, but Saif just shook his head. “Just dropping in to say hey and work out?” you ask, stopping your set. “Yes, I just came to say hello to you as you start the day. Don’t exert yourself.” Saif said, walking over to the stretching area. You nod and give him a warm smile before continuing your set.

Saif blushed, but since he was much further away from you, he didn’t have to hide it. He patted his face and began his stretches, getting his muscles ready for his usual workouts. As he stretched, he watched you generously wiping down each piece of equipment you used, and felt himself falling further for you. “A gentle, kind force. Forged from the fires of hell, flames that match my own.” Saif recited softly, sighing. He wiped down the mat he used for his stretches before going and getting to his sets.

He caught you staring at him for just a moment, before you turned away and went to the stretching area. “How long have you been here?” Saif asked, looking at you as he did his bicep curls. “Uh…I won’t lie, but I’ve been here for three hours. I just didn’t work out until two hours ago though.” you say, spreading your mat out to stretch. “So you’ve been here since three in the morning.” Saif asked. “Yep. Nightmares were terrible, so now my insomnia is keeping me up.” you said, sighing softly as you stretched. “Just keep yourself busy as you do.” Saif said, looking away from you. You nod and continue your stretches until you finish, watching Saif as you did so.

You then wipe down your mat and walk towards him, “Want to go out drinking with me and a few other operators later tonight? We planned this yesterday and I wanted to ask you then, but I couldn’t find you.” you say, smiling softly. “Ah, no but thank you for the offer Y/N. I’ll have much to do today.” Saif said. You give him a nod, “No worries, keep up your work.” you say, then walk out of the weights room. Once you were gone, Saif sucked his teeth out of frustration, “He’s going to be hard to detach from.” he said to himself.

Months would then come to pass after this, and you and Saif had grown much more distant with each other. It hurt you greatly, as you didn’t know if you did something to make him push himself away. Not only was it hurting you, it was hurting Saif. The feelings had manifested in him long enough to wrap around his heart tightly like thorny vines, where every other beat would cause the thorns to dig in deeper.

You had tried before to get him to speak with you, via slipping little poems in envelopes under his door, but it seemed to never get you a response. The two of you, respectively, went to Harry for advice without knowing. Harry told you to keep yourself open and available just in case he wanted to talk, with Harry telling Saif to find the best time to tell you how he felt. With both of this in your minds, the two of you would spend your days finding the right words before eventually stumbling into each other. “Oh, Y/N…I was actually looking for you. Are you…free to talk?” Saif asked. “I was doing the same if I’m going to be honest...” you mumble, keeping your eyes on him. “Let’s go to my room to have a quick chat then, yes?” he suggested.

Nodding, the two of you then make your way to his room in a tense silence. Once inside, Saif shut the door behind you and had you sit on his bed. As you looked into his little temporary room in the barracks, you saw all the poems you had written him on his nightstand. It gave your heart a slight twinge of pain, seeing that he had read them but never responded. “Thank you for the poems, by the way. I’m sorry I never responded to them, or ever gave you an explanation for my distance.” Saif said, sitting right next to you. You simply shrug, looking down at your hands.

Saif gently wrapped an arm around your shoulders, bringing you close to his chest, “But now you deserve that explanation. I spoke to Harry about this…and now I believe I’ve found the right time to let you know.” he said. You glance up at him, and see the worry in his face. In an attempt to comfort him, you carefully put your hand onto his lap and gently pat it. Saif glanced down at you and sighed, “The reason for my sudden distance was because I needed to sort my feelings for you out. I just…I had never been in love before, especially over a man. You caught my eye once we finally became closer, and I did nothing but push you back away and hurt the both of us.” he confessed.

Your eyes went wide, “You…you actually have feelings for me?” you ask, stunned. “I do, yes. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anyone as much as I wanted you. It’s strange for a man like me to fall in love, as my stoicism tends to push people away. But not you, and it instead brought you closer to me. If you do not share these feelings, I can understand.” Saif said. You frowned, pushing off him a bit, “I do share those same feelings, Saif. I wish you could have just…told me. I can understand your confusion, however, when it comes to realizing you’re in love with another man. I was like that when I was much younger, but embracing it made me happier in this life. And it could do the same for you, I hope.” you reassure, patting his lap once again.

Feeling a bit calmer now, Saif gave you a soft smile, “I needed to hear that, thank you…would you like to be together, then..?” he asked shyly. You had never seen the stoic and imposing Jordanian man so timid before, but it was a rather endearing thing to see. “I’d be more than happy to. And, let’s use this as a way to brush aside the distance. I forgive you wholeheartedly.” you said, smiling warmly. “Yes, brush that aside and work to make each other happy.” Saif said, gripping your shoulder gently. The silence that surrounded the two of you wasn’t tense or awkward anymore, a calmer and more peaceful silence was what the two of you were left with.

It was a normal day in Rainbow base, i was sitting on the couch watching tv with IQ and Dokkaebi, Suddenly Jager and Blitz came out from kitchen with some hot cocoa and foods on their hands

"Hey guys! We brought some drinks and foods i hope i didn't distrubing y'all" Blitz Snickered while placing the hot drinks and food on the table

"Thats fine, also did you know the news this days?" IQ saying, her eyes looking at four of us

"Huh? What's news?" Dokkaebi said, sipping her drink almost dropped it

"There was a terrorist attack in the bank, and alot of the people missing in the city so,Six mission us to killed from the White Masks and save the survivors" IQ said while eating the donut that on the table

"So, we gonna save them tomorrow?" I asked while drinking your drink

"Probably yes,some the operators has left on the mission so its seven of us will be tomorrow mission" IQ said, i get up from the couch and heading to my dorm in upstairs.

While walking to i dorm, someone was spying on me. Istopped anx took a look to the left and right.

'Huh maybe just my imagination' as i continue walking to my dorm, When i got infront of my dorm something was hit my head and i tried to scream but something cover my mouth and i begin to lost conscious. My body begin to hit the cold floor

"Boss we success to kidnapped him" an unknown person talking to phone

"Good, as soon you got here i want you to interrogate him" A voice from the phone speak as he soon closed the call

"Come on, grab the body and leave. We gonna get found out by them.

~Next Day~

°Author Pov°

The rest of the operators has back from their mission and getting back from their dorms

Oryx was heading to his boyfriend dorm, as he open the door it was quite and cold. He get inside the dorm looking for his boyfriend but failed.

"Guys! Have you all seen (m/n)?, hes not in his dorm" Oryx said while sweat coming from his forehead

"No, we saw him yesterday lastly before hes heading to his dorm" IQ said while fixing her gadget

"I think hes getting kidnapped." Everyone look at the source of the voice, it was Nokk. She was leaning against the kitchen table

"I saw hit got kidnapped by White masks and they take him from some where" She said while fixing her helmet

"Wes have to save him fast as we could, Oryx you're coming with us." Ash said, Giving a nod from the tall male while walking from the room.

~In the another place~

As soon i start to wake up from conscious, i felt my arms and legs got tied by ropes. As soon i saw a group of 6 people with whute mask covered their faces as the one of the point the gun at my head.

"Answer us the truth or you have to face your end here" He said with a gun still pointing at my head

"Bullshit!! Im not gonna tell it you morons- AHHHH!!!" My voice got cut off, as soon i look up one of White Mask pulled a knife and stabbed it to my legs

'Shit, it hurt like hell. These bastards gonna pay for it' in my thought, as i tried to talk again the White mask begin to punched me in the face as i hold myself

"TELL ME THE INFORMATION OF THE RAINBOW OR WE'LL MAKE YOU SUFFER HERE!!!" he said, while grabbing my shirt and start to punch me

As soon i feel dizzy, i heard a gun shot and a door slam. It was The Rainbow Team with My lovely Boyfriend,Oryx. As they killed the White Masks, oryx rushes to the door and kick it and finding me got beaten up badly by the one of the white mask

Oryx killed the man with a knife and untied me from the chair. "(M/n)! I thought they killed you, what happened!?" he start to panic at my sight as i place my hand to his chest "They just interrogate me to giving the information of Rainbow, but i refuse to" i chuckled as i see Oryx smiling and kisses my forehead.

"Now lets go back to the base and let Doc treat your wounds" he said and walking out from the room.

~After getting back from the mission~

°Oryx pov°

As soon we arrive at the base, i start running to the Doc Office and place (m/n)on the bed

"Is hes gonna be okay, Doc?" i start looking at him with worried looks. "Hes fine, but his left leg got injured and need to be treat it as soon as possible, so he need alot of rest from now on. And im gonna tell Six about the situation, now excuse me i have to leave now" Doc said, while walking out to Six office

I begin to sigh in relief while i look my boyfriend as he start to wake up.

"Uhhh.. W-what happened?" he asked, as he look around. "Nothing happened, you just got injured from the mission" as i stroke his head while looking at him with adore eyes

"Hey oryx can i ask you something?" he asked as i look at him with confused looks

"What wrong?" i said, his face begin to turn red and his mouth stutter to speaking "W-will you m-marry me?" he said while looking away with his red tomato face

My face got red and nervously to answer it but i tried "Yes. I-i will marry you and take you as my lovely husband" i said while grabbed his hand and kisses on top of it

"Promise me as i always be with you?" he said, as i hugged him and rubbed his back "As long you're always be with me" i said as i kisses him on the lips and both of us begin to fall asleep.

A high-res image of Harry’s new board just dropped, and I’m gonna analyse and transcribe as many of the notes as I can. There are parts I couldn’t decypher, so if you want to zoom in the image yourself and help me fill out the blank, I’d me more than grateful!

Under a cut cause it’s going to be a really long post.

The yellow post it above everything else says: The most practical application of my skills is to determine who works best with who. I eliminated interpersonal friction as best as I could so we can move forward efficiently.

We see that some of the names in the teams are circled in red, probably the ones who cause interpersonal friction... with the team leader, I assume? My #1 post of 2022

There’s been a lot of talk about AO3 and censorship lately, due to one of the candidates to the OTW board. And I realised I have very strong Opinions:tm: about censorship and the freedom AO3 stands for.

Censorship is not a solution. It doesn’t work and it’s not even easily agreed upon where the line should be drawn. What some people might deem as immoral or reprehensible is not the same others will consider so. For example, you and me can agree that sexual stories about minors turn our stomach, yet other people would also include LGBT+ content there, even the sfw ones, and others might decide that any sexual content at all is immoral. So, how do we agree about what to ban, when nothing of it is even illegal?

because let’s be honest, it’s all fiction. As in, not real. Things like incest, rape and pedophilia are illegal irl, but not in fiction. Cause they’re not harming anyone. Really. You can find it disgusting, I certainly do, but I also recognize no person, no actual human, is harmed in the making of those stories. Because they’re made up and about made up characters. I won’t seek it out, and if I see someone making that kind of content I will most probably avoid them/block them (without harassing them), but they have the right to create any kind of fiction they want.

It always baffles me how readily understood that is when it comes to murder and violence in fiction. Nobody thinks that someone who writers murder mysteries or procedural shows really wants to go out and kill people. However, as soon as it’s about sex, people are up in arms ready to believe that those make believe scenarios are an indicative of someone’s real desires. Why is that? And since we’re on the topic of double standards: why are people clutching their pearls about fanfic, but literature gets a free pass, more or less? You go into a library and you’ll find lots of books with shocking and distasteful topics, including those that contain pedophilic content (like Lolita, to put a famous example), incest (Game of Thrones, among many others), rape, murder, etc. But they want me to believe that fanfic, the medium with severely impaired social acceptance and magnitudes smaller reach, is the actual problem that will “normalize” those ideas? Nah fam, I smell a moral panic, and people finding fanfic writers easier to bully into submission. Because this is all about controlling what forms of creative expression are deemed acceptable. Fanfic IS a form of art, popular art if you will, but still art. And by virtue of how AO3 is designed, it’s ridiculously easy to never see the kind of stories that you find objectionable.

Tags are a wonderful thing. I can specify what I want and what I don’t want in my story results when searching! Tags are the author being responsible and giving due warning. Especially the “dead dove: do not eat” tag, it lets you know that the content of the story will have questionable content, proceed at your own risk or keep scrolling. Same as the “chose to not use archive warnings” that one is a warning in itself that the story might contain triggering/upsetting content, and it’s the prerogative of each reader to decide whether they’re comfortable continuing reading or not. Ultimately, it’s all about taking responsibility for one’s decisions. People who are in favor of censorship in AO3 either don’t know how to control and curate what materials they access, or feel entitled to everyone else taking their morals into account instead of taking responsibility for their own experience in the archive.

None of the stories on AO3 is illegal. Fictional stories are not illegal, not even those dealing with unsavory topics. The archive makes people agree to continue reading whenever you click on a story with a certain rating (or without any rating at all, just in case!), so the reader is giving their consent to continue reading, they’re making an informed choice. Same as with the tags. They’re there, they’re a warning. If someone reads the tags, finds them displeasing and still continues reading, that’s on them. If I find a story with tags about rape/non-con, for example, I keep scrolling. Cause I know I will find the story displeasing and upsetting. The people clutching their pearls and going “but think of the children!” are, mostly, people who refuse that responsibility and ask the world to accommodate them and their morality. And then throw around words like pedohilia and accusations of “kiddie porn” careleslly, watering down the seriousness of such accusations. No, an explicit fanfic of twin, underage siblings going at it is not CSA. Cause there’s no real children involved in it. It might be disgusting for a lot of people (me included), understandably, but you can 100% avoid reading it and interacting with the people who write those.

Finally, let’s not forget the recent history of fandom spaces, shall we? LiveJournal and Fanfiction.net both had purges of content, after some campaigns for censorship gained traction and popularity. So now everything relating to certain topics is eliminated! Well, except that also includes communities of support for survivors of sexual abuse (it happened in LJ). Well, except that the people pressuring for censorship weren’t happy with the gay smut either, so a lot of LGBT related stuff is now also gone! (happened both in LJ and ff.net). Except, in some countries anything sexual at all, is frowned upon, so why not ban that too? Censorship supporters will always move the goalposts, forever shifting their aim whenever they accomplish something. Because it’s easier and more comfortable to make others conform to their standards than accepting some artistic expressions will be uncomfortable to some people. And trust me, none of them will care if the dark fic in question was written by a survivor of similar experiences trying to cope with their trauma or raise awareness, or if it was done simply for titillation or to safely explore different scenarios in fiction. And the topics that were banned in those websites didn’t disappear at all, they just weren’t properly warned for/detailed in the summaries, so anyone could stumblre upon them by accident. The complete opposite of what happens in AO3.

AO3 was created by people who lived through those censorship events in different fandom spaces, as a response to it. To seeing whole communities and swathes of fan content being unceremoniously deleted overnight. AO3 is an archive and an online library, not a social media platform. It’s a safe haven for anyone to host their fan creations, but that doesn’t mean it’s a safe space as people understand the term in other platforms. In AO3 you make your safe space by using the tags. Because that is the only real way we can have a safe haven for EVERYONE.

The thing about freedom of speech is that sometimes, you have to defend things you dislike (that, I repeat, are legal in this case), because experience has shown time and time again that as soon as you give an inch to the censors, they take more and more. And today they’re up in arms about “pedophilic fanfics”, but once that is done? It might be all nsfw content, it might be trans related content, it might be something else. But it will happen.

What is your biggest pet peeve about R6? (Assuming you have one)

Ho boy theres a lot of peeves, the ability to melee people through shields uh sound being hard to figure out if its above or below if your on a staircase but mainly TICK RATE. The tick rate is sooooo low???? It's what like 64 tick rate, most fps games are like 128 tick rate.

For those who don't know tick rate is how often the game refreshes information. It's why soooo often why you will hit someone and it just doesn't registure. It's why Kali is so bad and high fire rate guns are so good. More bullets mean more likely that the tick rate will be in your favour. Genuinely recon if they raised the tick rate that the game would improve so much. So many issues and just bullshit experiences would improve.

In terms of other players, on attack probably when I'm playing fuze and I'm running to go clear that little hallway next to bathroom on Border and then someone BREAKS the barricade. (Not exclusive to that map but that's the worst one for it to happen) On defence people who either barricade up site (or castle it off) Like PLEASE let me have my rotations. Oooo and Oryx's. I hate them when they break hatch above just so they can jump up. Then they die and we have to worry about the enemy coming from above.

1. Who are your favorite attackers?

iq is easily my fave of all time! i always play her...

but i do like others! blitz, sledge, thatcher, zofia... sometimes jackal.

oh, and montagne! i don't play him but my brother does and he is. so good at it. big shield man.

2. Who are your least favorite attackers?

fuze and mav,,, not for any legit reasons, they just always scare me!! motherfuckers are the loudest and yet still jumpscare my ass

3. Who are your favorite defenders?

jäger, bandit, smoke, mute, and ela 😌💕 sometimes i spice it up by playing valkyrie or cav, but i'm not good at either skjdkdkd

Oryx Headcanons

Trigger Warnings: Mentions of: past injury, jail sentence, past anger issues, mild cat allergy

☆ During training sessions, Saif will almost always tackle or topple over any of the attackers

☆ He laughs to himself afterwards, apologizing for potentially hurting them in the process and helping them up once the round is over

☆ Saif never tackles any of the female operators, however, seeing as how he doesn’t want to injure them due to their much smaller statures

☆ Usually goes to Lera to ask for her nanobots, to help ease some of the pain he has from all the bones that didn’t heal properly

☆ Saif, in his free time, writes poetry about strength and resilience because it helps continue keep him calm

☆ Seeing as how he no longer dwells on his past, he will also write poetry about a possible future where the world is much better than it is

☆ Saif’s poems also hide a deep longing of the need for peace, and safety for those who suffer cruel sentences as he had

☆ Saif has difficulty trusting others, so whenever he’s on base with others and Jalal is with him, he sticks close to him

☆ Saif owns a cat, no doubt, and often brings it with him to the Hereford base to keep himself calm while there

☆ Certain that he is also simultaneously allergic to it, but only very mildly, that just gives him sniffles and watery eyes

☆ Very much a gentle giant, despite the past rage he has since learned to control

☆ Saif is also a pretty good cook, and likes to share the food of his culture with his fellow operators, using it as a way to try and warm up to them

Rainbow Six Siege update wants more players to pick Thorn

The most recent designer's notes for Rainbow Six Siege have just been published; they describe the next FPS game update's balancing adjustments and how operators will play differently. With this balance update, the creators of Rainbow Six Siege are concentrating on putting operators on an even playing field, boosting characters like Thorn in the hope of making such trapper options more enticing to players. The update includes a number of adjustments to skills and load-outs, including both additions and deletions. From Thorn’s load-out boost to Oryx’s reduced interaction time, you can find an overview of the Rainbow Six Siege operator balancing update changes below. Operator balancing update Thorn UZK50GI - Sights: Added 1.5x. Thorn is currently one of the least-picked trappers on defender lineups. Her loadout is being boosted by adding a 1.5x sight to the UZK50GI, which should increase her popularity within the trapper ecosystem. Nøkk HEL Presence Reduction - Removed silent steps while the ability is active. - Increased the duration of the ability to 20s (from 12). - Updated glitching reasons. Deception is always a controversial topic and Nøkk’s ability is conceived around it. She can become invisible to observation tools and at the same time mute her footsteps. She is leading some of the main frustration for defenders and this update aims to tackle this. In a quiet environment, everyone should be able to hear someone else approaching, and Nøkk’s ability to move silently breaks this rule. The update removes the silent facet of the ability in exchange for increased ability duration. Vigil ERC-7 - On observation tools, Vigil will share the same glitching effect as Nøkk. - The ability won’t deactivate while performing certain actions, like shooting, and will instead trigger the glitch effect on observation tools. - Vigil won’t be immune to Lion’s EE-ONE-D or Grim’s Kawan Hive. Both gadgets will detect him, but he can prevent being pinged down by activating the ERC-7. Nøkk and Vigil share a similar ability, and in the pursuit of consistency, this update extends Nøkk’s cloaking rules to Vigil. With this change, Vigil will glitch on observation tools while performing actions like shooting, deploying a gadget, or sprinting. These new interactions will reward players that proceed more carefully while using the ERC-7 and will punish those who act more carelessly. Oryx Hatch Climb - Reduced hatch climb interaction time by 30%. Game data shows that Oryx does not profit much from his ability to climb hatches. The update aims to make this interaction smoother by reducing its recovery time. Now it should feel less dangerous to perform.
