Guys I can’t even contain my elation at what I just saw in that final episode: ‘Old Souls’. I’ll try my best to express myself on what I want to say to make it clear how much it meant to me to see that fantastic finale.
THANK YOU, EMILY ANDRAS for seeing us, for caring about us. For representing us sincerely and lovingly. For putting a bulletproof vest on Nicole Haught so she wouldn’t have to die the same way so many of us have when that’s basically been the only ending we ever got. Just death. And cancellation without conclusion. And even more death. That is honestly the first time that I have ever seen myself have a happy ending in TV art/entertainment. And I’m emotional as fuck over it.
For making it very fucking clear that we’re not just collateral damage even if we are a bit fucked up and that we can choose to be heroes and so much more and it doesn’t have to be an either/or situation ever. That we can live our lives for ourselves and each other and there doesn’t have to be any kind of competition because we’re worthy just as we are. Flaws and faults.
But most of all - showing that good and evil can co-exist and for cultivating moral greyness. For giving us hope that dark days don’t stay dark and that old cliche of it’s always darkest before the dawn. And for showing us that there is always a way out of a curse. Life is what we make of it. Not the other way around.
And thank you Dominique Provost-Chalkley for saving all your f-bombs until the very end. I get it now. 👍😂
friend wanted to see my tumblr, and when i told him i can’t show it to him bc it’s basically my personal diary he went “oh so I can’t see it but a bunch of strangers on tumblr can??” he literally does not get me. no one will get me like the people in my phone get me
okay because i am DEATHLY curious about this, please select from the options below. reblog with your country of origin as well please.
ETA BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE GETTING SNARKY: i am asking it this specific way with these specific poll options (american vs non-american) because it's my understanding and experience that most US state public schools actively suppress any teaching of labor history in any concrete way to the point of editing textbooks. i'm not trying to be an american exclusionist here or say that there weren't non-american labor movements. i'm saying that as a historian with degrees i have noticed that there is a very different attitude towards teaching labor history in the united states than there is in other countries. for fuck's sake.
Having a crush IS a competition, sorry i doubted you keith
I read "is there any better feeling than coming clean" by maveisher (@leenfiend) and ive been thinking about it so much,,,, so i made a little comic based on the beginning :)
thought about this hongjoong from the m countdown paris, and how hot he looked in this fit with the glasses…and immediately thought of that one kdrama kiss scene —
i unironically block and avoid anyone who interacts with callout posts btw. unless the post contains information about genuine real harm to real people in unequivocal terms, with solid proof and context that cannot be chalked up to misrepresented friendship drama, i go scorched earth on the notes. the amount of potential harassment and harm they can and HAVE caused in the past, especially to minority groups, trans women in particular, is beyond anything that can ever justify their existence. they're a petty, childish—frequently wrong!—thoughtless and cruel way to "spread awareness". grow up.
i am so charmed by a lumax wedding because it’s not even something max thought would happen. like she assumed weddings were something the girl makes happen and the guy puts up with. and because she had no desire for one, so there’s no reason it would happen.
among other things weddings are an exorbitant and performative show of love, max loves lucas and she doesn’t care whether or not other people know or believe this. at it’s best marriage to her has been a representation of failed dreams and at it’s worst it’s been a tool to manipulate people who need to get away to stay. maybe they will get married for the tax benefits, she thinks.
this is until max and lucas are older and living together, they’re chilling on the couch and lucas mentions his family has been asking when he’s planning to propose and if that’s something max even wants? max doesn’t care, she doesn’t plan on going anywhere, a certificate won’t change anything and she's not crazy about parties. she doesn’t ask how he feels, he brings it up, that “actually i want a wedding.”
that is saying the least, lucas wants a wedding more than anything. he loves max and he doesn’t need to prove that to anyone, but he’s happy and he wants to share that with others! he wants to work with max to make marriage a positive thing to them, he wants to celebrate their love, everything they’ve been through. also, hell, he’s only human, he wants to show off! he wants to dress really cool and go to a really cool place and show the world know how awesome he and his girlfriend are. HIS WIFE!!!
most of all, lucas wants the moment near the end of the night, where the party’s getting loud and everybody wants his attention, but max asks if he wants to get out of there and he says yes. not out out, just outside the venue. it’s dark and the once booming music is now faint, they sit and catch up, complain about their families, laugh about their friends. max holds lucas’s hand and plays with his wedding ring, she whispers something sweet before asking him to dance. it’s the best part of the night and nobody will know about it but them.
Pet peeve: whenever people react to/present dirty talk out of context and are like "wtf, this is so weird this is so gross/cringe" ect. ect. Yeah. All dirty talk is cringe when you aren't fucking. Just the normal shit 90% of people say is cringe when you aren't horny and enjoying it in a sex way. Thats why smut is so hard to write, because you either need to make dirty talk that isn't cringe (almost impossible) or manage to create the space that puts dirty talk in context (less difficult, still can be hard, depends on how much the reader is willing to lean in). If you read almost any smut when you aren't ready to get horny about it, its going to be cringe as a rule. Some of the shit I see people react to as "bad smut" in books is just... normal dirty talk. Very normal dirty talk, not even weird or awkward. Do you fuck?? Its fine if you don't, it just seems like you're not qualified to be assessing this text idk
