Gregor the Overlander fanfiction?! Gregor the Overlander mention!?!?! Tbh it's been so long since I've read it I barely remember it. After Hunger Games' success they need to make a Gregor the Overlander adaptation.
GREGOR THE OVERLANDER WAS SO IMPORTANT TO ME friend I was OBSESSED.
I very genuinely wrote a letter to Disney as a 10 year old asking them to make an adaption and consider casting my new baby nephew and me as a gender-reversed Gregor and Boots I shit you not. I refuse to be embarassed by that, it wasn't cringe, baby me was just That Fucking Into It and wanted to share it with the world lol
My first fanfic was Code of Claw post-series fix-it fic written on a legal pad my mom gave me to use when I was bored silly partway through a day of errands. Complete with fanart of Gregor climbing into a sewer drain and all.
Frankly your excitement bouncing off of my excitement is making me think I need to read it again too, it's been so long. At my peak I could chant every prophecy in the books and tap and scratch messages to myself in code bc I had for some reason memorized the whole Tree of Transmission better than I ever managed to memorize Morse Code.
I'm so overjoyed to talk with someone who was also in love with that series. I completely agree that they need to make a Gregor the Overlander adaption, but also I'm 100% sure they NEED to animate it and never, ever, EVER fucking do a live show. I don't think there's any way to capture the depth and scale of the world/creatures and the differences between adult and kid perspectives of what's going on in the Underland and a lot of the unique features into live action stuff without weakening it, and for me, I felt as a kid like these books were the first and only series for KIDS (not teens) that really really made me feel known as a kid-who-knew-adults-in-charge-can-lie-and-be-bad-sometimes AND as a kid-who-still-defaults-to-believing-the-best-anyway and how those intersect.
I feel like The Underland Chronicles, Ender's Game, and The Hunger Games all are in a specific category of story and boy is that category important. The Gregor books additionally take kids more seriously than any of the others, which was extra cool.
Sorry for the wall of text and the rambling all over lol, thank you for the ask!!!! I hope you have an awesome day and an enjoyable time next time you reread the Underland Chronicles <3

Splatmas is coming, and you know what that means?
Tumblr media
Bet none of you guessed it's Psudopod's Big Lecture on How Y'all Need SPORTSMANSHIP!
Sportsmanship is behaviour and attitudes that show respect for the rules of a game and for the other players.
Part 1: Rules of the Game.
There are indeed rules, here they are!
Tumblr media
In Splatoon 3 you may be reported for breaking the rules for the following infractions;
Inappropriate Nickname
Inactivity
Intentional Disconnection
Unsportsmanlike Play (Self-Destruction)
Unsportsmanlike Play (Disrupting Team)
Intentionally Not Contributing
Network Manipulation
Malicious Use of Glitches or Errors
Cheating
Griefing (the action or an act of deliberately spoiling other players' enjoyment of a game by playing in a way that is intentionally disruptive and aggravating)
I've bolded the rules I see broken, often, especially during splatfests. Thankfully, I rarely see the ones I didn't bold. What I do see, pretty often, is Bad Sportsmanship.
I am referring to mid-match squid parties.
What are squid parties? A squid party is when the players ignore the in-game objectives and do... Whatever they feel like! Usually, this is seen as people standing around squidbagging together. It's honestly pretty fun! When everyone is on the same wavelength and the full lobby parties, it can be a cool time to explore how the game feels, play party games, and be silly! Note however, I said the full lobby. To play by your own rules when any single player is playing by the game's rules, is unsportsmanlike.
Thankfully, for all you partiers, there is a simple and easy way to make sure every player in your lobby is playing by the same rules; private lobbies! Make a private lobby, invite your friends, or join a pool to make some friends! I imagine "Squidparty" is a code you could use, but please do share any codes you've tried in your reblog. You can even plan games in lobbies, like "bumper brushes" or "hide-and-seek"!
Please, if you want to party, join a private lobby. Everyone else there will want to party, too. Assume everyone in public lobbies is there to play the game as described by the rules, even if they leave you to party.
If you are in a lobby to play, don't ignore partiers. They are just as often "Griefing" with intentions to use your mercy against you. Kill. Leave the lobby. Report. Move on. Pick any of the multiple rules that apply to squid party behavior. You can find the report button in the battle logs section of the terminal. Don't join a private lobby and report the goofs going on there, don't join a public battle and goof.
Tumblr media
Part 2: Respect for Other Players
The Sportsmanship life doesn't end when you put the controller down! Y'all still Unsportsmanlike in the community. You need to treat other players right. We don't have Rules out here, but here's some bullshit I'm sick of seeing:
Racism (colorism and xenophobia)
Bullying (extreme language, hate mail harassment)
Being a sore loser (BS points 1 and 2, really.)
I don't need to re-hash the colorism issues. This is an old problem. Stop. Please remember your comments on the physical features of the idols can be hurtful, real people share those features.
What I do have to hash is the xenophobia. Y'all aware that blaming an entire nationality for you losing is bigoted? Y'all aware that claiming an entire nationality is just too good at the game is a stupid stereotype? Stop saying weird shit about Japanese players.
Bullying- hey, are you aware saying "KYS," any suicide baiting, is bullying and harassment? This is EXTREME language. Do not throw that shit around in the Splatfest tags when you're sad you lost. Do not throw that shit around in plaza posts. You will lose your plaza posting ability, account-wide. I dare you to send that shit on anon. I will drag your ass. Again.
It's ok to be sad you lost, but please be aware that lashing your negative feelings out on real people, or in ways that can hurt real people, is POOR SPORTSMANSHIP. Do you remember, in grade school sports, how the coach would tell you to line up and tell each member of the opponent team "good game"? You ever wonder why?
You should always be grateful and courteous, respectful, and constructive to every one of your opponents. You would not be able to play the game without opponents.
Tumblr media
This splatfest, I really hope to see some better sportsmanship inside and outside the game.
I've said way too much already, I'll leave you with homework. This 'fest, I'd like for you to thank your opponents. Even when they beat you. Especially then. They did their best and respected you with a display of the fruits of their effort.

In the labyrinth tunnels below Paradise City a pair of apexes encounter each other, the walking fungus colony that is colloquially known as Legion and an amoeba scaled up to human size. Noone quite knows where either came from, and the their sapience and sentience are respectively debatable. What was known to both though is that before them was potential food.
Legion struck first, slamming its foot into the blob, already starting to try to absorb it when psudopods lashed out, grabbing ahold of the fungal limb as it tried eating them inturn. Legion grabbed the macroscopic bacteria off their leg where it latched onto their hand and arm before Legion slammed its macrophaged fist into the stonework of a nearby wall, sending bricks and cytoplasm flying, yet their opponent stayed attached. Trying to dislodge the pest they slammed their fist into the wall again and again as they choked the air with suffocating spores that did nothing to the lungless slime which in turn lashed out at the body of the fungus.
Eventually Legion flung their arm out wide, launching the blob across the chamber. Both directed their senses towards each other, this meal being more work than expected. The blob's cytoplasm spattered the walls, ceiling and floor of the chamber along side the broken stonework. And Legion's body was scored with damage from the amoeba's assault, not to mention that a sizable chunk of the arm the blob had clung to was missing.
Eventually Legion slammed its good arm against a nearby wall, breaking more of the stonework, their opposition rose up and slapped the ground with its body. These crude territorial displays done, the two moved to leave in opposite directions.

I-ii finally figured out how to adjust the linecolour :3)))) yipeeeee anysways we got: A shy monsters hiding under brickwork and statues, it tries to use it's spooky shell to scare away any and everyone it meets. A gunk spewing bird-monster, actually a remaster of an older monster i made. A lichen monster, it hunts by slowly snaking up on it's target, and then slapping it silly with its big psudopods. And a snappying beaky monster, a cunning speedy predator with tremendous eyesight.

"Kah mee-mee noo-loo!"
Tumblr media
“Croo ouh ouh ouh!!~” Toma Happily hurgled back at this little creature, all the heads are down and bowed to get a proper looksie at them. Kah mee-mee noo-loo? Context clues... They’re playing around, She’s playing around, no bad body language and that’s good! Footlettuce seems very happy here-...  happy?? Does footlettus mean happy??? LEarning! A non-acidic psudopod came over to give a pat on the furby’s head, all the while mimicking the same words back albeit crudely. “KKrrraAAAH MEEH-MEEAH NOoouuuh-looouur.” Bor’s awake and keeping watch over the interaction, it’s a great learning experience for both creatures! Perhaps they gotta change up Toma’s form of enrichment, she seems very attentive to everyone on the ship so far. Starting with the smallest.

What's your favorite item in Minish Cap? Items were one of my fav things in that game.
yes, the items in minish cap are excellent. multiple uses for all of them, which makes puzzle solving that much more involved.
I'd have to go with the gust jar. it's simple and fun and used for so much, and it's a jar full of gusts that link aims like a cannon! gust bellows could NEVER. i also love the roc's cape just for the novelty of being able to jump in a zelda game, this game had remote bombs waaaaay before botw, and the mirror shield is great, shame it's a post-game item? why do it like that?
playing through these zelda games has made me realize how much i enjoy games that let you use items the way they do. i know plenty of games let you switch weapons, but that's not what i'm talking here, i mean supplemental items that give you additional angles to attack or movement options in addition to your "main" attack, not to mention other utility options. really, the only other series i know of that does this in the way i'm describing is the mega man platformers

You ever play the Pokémon TCG game for the game boy?
never have, though i've always thought the graphics were very cute
truth be told, i am really bad at deckbuilding strategy. if the battle network games didn't have the mega buster i never would have won a battle. plus i didn't know how to play the tcg until about a year ago, so i wouldn't have been very good regardless. also, i've talked about this before, but the primary focus on this franchise for me has always been the pokemon themselves, and has never been the humans, so the idea of a game where they're all just cards doesn't hold a lot of appeal for me
that said, i have enjoyed path to the peak so far, so who knows? maybe i'll check it out after i finish my mountain of other games
