[@batrogers requested 30; 鈥淚t was just a nightmare, love. It wasn鈥檛 real.鈥漖
[this was hoarded in my drafts for a while, then finally written and posted as a 20 followers prize for @overcome-series]
****
Ravio woke in the dead of night, and didn't have to wonder what had roused him. Link was curled around him, like he had been when Ravio closed his eyes for the night, and Ravio could feel his partner's every tiny movement. Erratic twitching and quiet whimpers told Ravio that Link was, without a doubt, trapped in a nightmare.
Ravio couldn't wake Link himself (at best Link wouldn't respond, at worst he would be even more hysterical upon waking) so he wrapped his arms around his partner and sent his comfort until it was over.
He still flinched when Link jerked awake with a bitten-off scream, and offered no resistance when his partner panicked and pushed himself away. Ravio shut his eyes tight, hoping that Link would come to his senses before he hurt himself, but there was a loud thud as Link fell to the floor.
Sheerow broke the silence with a sleepy, inquisitive chirp, and Ravio shushed the bird before untangling himself from the blankets. He dropped gently from the bed and sat in front of Link, silent and waiting.
Slowly, his partner recovered from the shock, looking anxiously around the room. He froze, seeing that Ravio was there with an outstretched hand, and slowly reached to take it. Link's fingers were shaking too much to hold it back, but Ravio squeezed his hand and said the words he was waiting to hear.
"It was just a nightmare, love. It wasn't real."
Link's eyes glinted in the moonlight, tears forming as the first sob left him and he fell again, this time into Ravio's waiting arms.
"I don't wanna go back to bed," Link whimpered after a while, his voice only half-there from crying.
"I know, bun," Ravio soothed, tracing circles behind his partner's ear. "Let's get a drink from the kitchen and figure things out from there."

Real observations since I started wearing a wizard hat daily:
- Brim is so wide that I stay BONE DRY taking walks in the rain
- Brim can be positioned to block the sun from ever getting in my eyes AND keeping it off the back of my neck
- The pointed top part creates an air pocket, keeping my head from getting hot or squishing my hair as it might in a ball cap
- Hat can easily be pulled down over the tips of my ears without looking dumb, protecting them from wind chill
- Strangers say they like my hat, giving me the chance to tell them that I am a wizard
- When you鈥檙e wearing a wizard hat, ALL OTHER FASHION CHOICES become secondary, allowing you to branch out with style
Embrace ego death. Stay protected from all elements. Wear a wizard hat.

[@batrogers requested 38; "When were you planning to tell me you were sick?"]
****
Chief had been working on Hateno's arm for a while now. Hateno wasn't exactly timing him, but Chief had said that it would be an easy fix so Hateno hadn't expected him to be long. When he gave Chief a curious glance, he found his boyfriend staring into space, his fingers slack as they precariously cradled the prosthetic.
"Chief?" Hateno called, then sat beside him and reclaimed his arm when Chief didn't respond.
Hateno turned the prosthetic over, checking that everything looked fine. Had Chief taken his time working on it, or had he forgotten to give it back?
Chief cleared his throat uncomfortably, touching the back of his hand to his nose. Hateno leaned closer, immediately identifying flushed skin and bleary eyes. He pressed his hand to Chief's forehead, already knowing that his boyfriend would be radiating warmth.
"Love," Hateno sighed, pulling his boyfriend against his side.
Chief stared up at him for a long moment before going boneless against him, his eyes shut tight in obvious discomfort.
"When were you planning to tell me you were sick?" Hateno asked, reaching up and around to brush sweaty bangs away from Chief's face. "I wouldn't have asked you to push yourself. You don't need to hide it..."
"'S okay, I can still do things," Chief mumbled. "I- I can-" he sneezed violently, and Hateno groaned.
"What you can do is rest," Hateno said firmly.
Chief made an uncertain, wavering sound, and Hateno spoke gently this time.
"Just let yourself rest, love. Please? For me."

[anon requested 26; "Don't feel bad if you puke this up. At least you tried to keep it down."]
****
"I told you, I'm not taking it," Outset growled, retreating further into the blankets.
Chief measured a scoop of powdered something into a mug of tea, stirring it as he spoke. "This will help you feel better, which will mean that we can get moving again. That's all, there's nothing bad in it."
"I've puked everything up today, I'm not wasting your medicine."
They both knew that was a lie, but Chief entertained it. "It's okay if you can't keep it down. As long as you try, I'll be happy."
"I'm not taking it, just leave me alone," Outset grumbled.
Chief sighed and placed the mug in Outset's reach. "Here. For when you're ready."
Chief left to give him some space, finding Kokiri waiting nearby.
"He's not going to drink that," Kokiri signed, gesturing at the abandoned tea.
"I know," Chief responded lightly, pulling a bottle from his bag. "I asked Hateno to put this in the broth that Outset was so eager to drink before I talked to him. What I added to the tea was sugar. If he stays hydrated that would be nice, but I'm not counting on it."
"He won't be happy if he finds out."
"He won't," Chief agreed, "But at least he won't be sick."

[@batrogers requested 13; "This is what happens when you don't sleep."]
****
The last few mornings, Prince had woken to the sound of Kokiri playing his ocarina. The song would continue throughout the day, his partner clearly restless over something and wanting to use the music to escape. Prince didn't see anything wrong with it, and most of the others enjoyed it so he let it slide.
Today, however, Prince was greeted with the usual silence he had grown used to. He started to leave his tent and nearly tripped over Kokiri, who was curled up on the ground just outside. Prince frowned and knelt to check on him, more than a little alarmed.
Kokiri only responded when Prince touched his shoulder. He shot up and Prince ducked away from a defensive punch, but there was no need- Kokiri's fist missed Prince entirely and he fell back down just as suddenly. Kokiri grit his teeth, his head clutched in his hands, and Prince waited a few minutes for his partner to look up again.
When he did, Prince showed him the ocarina that had fallen beside Kokiri when he startled. "You've been playing this all night instead of sleeping," he signed, more a deduction than a question.
Kokiri glared at him, his hand shaking as he signed back, "I don't play it all night."
"How long has it been, almost half a week?" Prince said, ignoring him. He gestured to Kokiri's obvious state of miserable and added, "This is what happens when you don't sleep."
Kokiri wordlessly reached for his ocarina, and Prince handed it back.
"Now come inside and lay down before you make yourself more sick than you already are."

[@iolitemoth requested "A finally collected enough courage to snuggle to B's side. They have a hard time staying composed when B wraps their arm around them."]
****
Ordon couldn't bring himself to care that he wasn't as engaged in the fireside conversation as he normally was. The last few weeks had been rough, and they had spent all of an hour near his Lake Hylia before getting thrown to a different era. Ordon had been so excited prematurely, only to come to terms with the fact that he had no idea when he could see his family again.
Far was sitting beside him, and his presence felt like a magnet. Ordon was so preoccupied with his family, he had almost forgotten to spend time with his partners who weren't ripped away every other day. He hesitated, afraid that Far would resent him for it, then leaned over to rest lightly against his boyfriend.
"Oh- You okay?" Far asked, casually wrapping his arm around Ordon's shoulders to pull him snugly against his side.
Ordon choked on the word "Yeah", and hid his face in Far's arm so he wouldn't see him about to cry.
When had he gotten so desperate for gentle affection that a hug made him break down? He was lucky that this hadn't happened with his Queen.
"Mmhm," Far hummed, unconvinced for very good reason. He moved his hands, and Ordon let his boyfriend move him to sit fully on his lap.
"It's been a while since I've seen Ilia, is all," Ordon said after a minute, his voice muffled in Far's soft tunic. "And my kids."
He'd seen the Queen and hers, at least, but they hadn't had the chance to visit his wife at all since this began.
"Hey, I get it," Far said gently. "We're all missing people. But right now, I'm here. You're gonna be alright, got it?"
Ordon nodded, melting into his boyfriend's warm embrace. He wasn't planning on moving for a while.

[@batrogers requested 10; "I have a perfectly reasonable explanation for this"]
****
Prince watched, extremely unamused, as Hateno and Kokiri returned from the field opposite the stable. Kokiri was wincing with every step, his arm slung around Hateno's shoulders for support. His clothes were grass-stained and his breathing was wrong in the way that suggested broken ribs.
Kokiri caught Prince's eye and signed, "No need to worry. There's no danger."
"It looks like your ribs are broken."
"I-" Kokiri's hand went to his chest as if he could stop the pain, then he shook it off. "I have a perfectly reasonable explanation for this."
"I'm dying to know," Prince said, glancing at Hateno's carefully expressionless face.
Kokiri tried to straighten a little, and immediately regretted it. "Hateno bet that I couldn't catch and tame a wild horse."
Prince pinched the bridge of his nose and exhaled, hard. "As much as I love to see you two... getting along...?"
Hateno gave him a wide grin and a thumbs down with his free hand.
"We're low enough on potions. You can heal on your own time unless we get moved before then."
Kokiri rolled his eyes. "I don't need a potion, I'll be fine after I sit for a while."
"Don't you want to know if he did it?" Hateno added, then put his fingers to his lips and whistled before Prince could answer.
A formerly wild horse trotted over and tried to worriedly nose at Kokiri, who gently pushed it away.
"Come on, do you want to name her?" Kokiri asked, a smug look on his face.
Prince sighed again, but he couldn't say no to that.

[@aur0ralights requested 2; Using your hand to lift up their face to check for any injury, when you notice how pretty their eyes are, causing you to blush]
****
Hateno knew he was fine, so he insisted that Chief went to check on the others first. He watched the medic make the rounds, glancing at his pad to make sure he still had healing supplies, but nobody was injured more than a few scrapes and bruises.
Hateno waited patiently as his boyfriend made his way back around to him and gave him a thorough inspection.
"We're all fine," Chief sighed, taking a half step back as he looked over the group once more.
"Ah- you stay," Hateno said, grabbing Chief's hand to pull him back towards him. He gave his boyfriend an equally careful once-over, knowing that Chief was practiced at hiding his own injuries in favor of helping others.
He didn't find anything, but just to be sure he tucked a finger under Chief's chin and lifted it, scanning his face. He froze, completely distracted as he met Chief's gaze. His eyes were ocean-bright, green shining with the same worry that Hateno still felt.
Hateno made a mental note to take more time to appreciate his boyfriend's beautiful eyes.
He blinked himself out of it, his hand moving up to brush Chief's bangs away from his face.
"We're all fine," Hateno repeated, now that they both knew it was true.
Chief stared at him, then quietly said, "...You're blushing."
Hateno could feel that, but he simply smoothed his thumb over Chief's cheek. "So are you."

[@aur0ralights requested 7; Helping them wash off the blood from their body]
****
Prince almost feared that he had reached Kokiri too late. His partner was isolated, all his energy spent on a nearly futile attempt to staunch the blood gushing from his arm. His eyes were wary as Prince ran to him, but he saw relief there, too.
A deep gash was scored along Kokiri's arm, blood coating his hand and the talons of a dead aeralfos beside him. His blood soon covered Prince's hands, too, as he quickly examined the wound. It needed stitched and bandaged, and Chief thankfully arrived just as Prince determined such.
Kokiri managed to sit through it, and Chief took the hint to move on as soon as he was done. Kokiri collapsed against Prince the instant they were alone, shaky with panic and fatigue. Prince took that as a cue to hold him, neither of them caring about the blood spreading over their skin and clothes.
Camp was set up not far from them, and Prince easily led Kokiri to their tent once it was ready. Enclosed in privacy, his partner only shivered harder, flexing the hand that was now crusted over with blood.
Prince grimaced and beckoned Smith over, who brought them clean cloths and a bowl of water. Kokiri stirred, pressing his cheek to Prince's chest and watching wearily as Prince dampened a cloth. Prince lifted Kokiri's hand to rest on his, and gently pressed the cloth against Kokiri's palm. He coaxed rusty rivulets to trickle down Kokiri's fingers until nothing was left but skin.
Prince checked his own hands last, assuring himself that the only blood left was swirling in the bowl. He cupped his partner's face and tried to meet his gaze, but Kokiri's eyes flicked away before Prince could see whatever he was too tired to guard.
Prince set the bowl aside, giving in to a simpler tactic. He leaned down to kiss his partner and Kokiri readily obliged, eager for escape.

The dialog is underneath
Warriors: since the sailor is asleep and the old man is patrolling, why don't we talk about the ladies that have caught your guys eyes recently, you know, to pass the time.
Twilight: is that really necessary
Warriors: lighten up rancher, I'm sure some of the others are also curious. Sky is their anyone you've been into lately?
Sky: oh well, I do have a girlfriend...
four: wait, really?
Sky: Its actually Zelda, she's the light of my world and I love her so much.
Twilight: thats really sweet sky
Sky: yeah she is, how about you cook? Anyone that you like?
Wild: oh, well... no
Wild: what about the veteran, their must be someone who has been able to make him go soft
Legend: no.
Warriors: stop being so grumpy all the time, anyways What about you smithy? Are you with zelda?
Four: uh no, not Zelda.
Warriors: so there is a lady
Four: not recently but there was someone...
Wild: what was she like? If you don't mind talking about it
Four: hmm, they were quite smart surprisingly. They were adorable and I hold dear all those treasured moments. We were two sides of a coin. Never meant to be but I guess they thought I was worth all the trouble. I mean, they spent a whole day setting up a room just to be dramatic!
Sky: aw, sounds like she was lovely
Four: yeah, he was
Four: I-uh I mean...
Warriors: what else did he do?
Wild: none of us here would judge you for liking a guy smithy.
Sky: if there is someone who has a problem with it. Then they can come talk to me about it
Four: thanks, I didn't really expect anyone to stay around me if they knew, well liking the same gender isn't exactly welcomed
Legend: if it makes you feel better shorty, I actually like both.
Wild: you could do that?
Warriors: thats sweet but what about you traveler. You've been awfully quiet. You don't have a problem with it? Do You.
Hyrule: oh-uh, no. Its just. It got me thinking, I don't. I dont want a relationship or anything like that. I've never felt that way towards anyone before and just the idea... I don't find it all to appealing.
Twilight: there's a word for it.
Hyrule: ?
Twilight: Your asexual. Its when you don't have sexual feelings towards others.
