FOOD TRUCK PROJECT PROPOSAL

The concept for my photography project will revolve around the diversity and labor of food truck vendors. Every weekend, about a dozen or so unique food trucks set up shop at the abandoned mall parking lot at Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis. It's a weekly event planned by Fresno Street Eats, an organization consisting of several dozen different food trucks and vendors, from independently owned small businesses to franchise vendors. They organize annual, monthly, and weekly food and catering events and work as a network for vendors to find customers. One of these events is the weekend Sierra Vista Mall food pop up, one I have personal attachment to because it takes place less than two minutes away from my home!

For this project, I want to photograph the labor and social aspects of the standard food vendor work day. As a weekly haunt, I have become affiliated with and befriended the regular vendors that come by (and ate their cooking too. tasty!). The social aspect of these food truck events are what intrigue and charm me. Being quite shy and anxious, these weekly food events are often the only way I can comfortably experience social activity, and the friendly and hardworking vendors are people I have become fond of. Supporting their endeavors and their love of cooking, learning about their business and what their goals are for the future give me further appreciation for them, and I want to share that understanding with others.

For the more technical aspects of this project, being a regular and befriending a good amount of the vendors, I will communicate with each of them my proposal for this project. I wish to capture an authentic approach of their work day, and will ask permission for how close I am allowed to photograph them and their boundaries, and other permissions needed. Friday and Saturdays are the days these even take place, on Saturdays being from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., which is plenty of time to photograph. When it comes to shots I want to take with customers, I will be sure to ask permission before shooting. This being a social event, There is no specific equipment necessary, but I need to be aware of the sun and lighting while shooting to make sure my shots are not over exposed and my subjects have good lighting.

My objective for this project is to capture the intimate social atmosphere of these food pop up events, that differentiate from standard restaurant atmospheres. People are encouraged to walk around, talk with each other and the vendors, children play and families have fun eating. This being my link to social activity bring these scenes close to my heart, and I want to see the joy these simple events bring. But most of all, I want to focus on the vendors itself. Each one I've had the pleasure of meeting and connecting with are hardworking and kind individuals that deserve support, and do their part in giving me and others joy. Documenting the hard work and joy they give into the community is my utmost importance for this project, and I hope to share my respect for them to the viewers.

During this first week of this semester, I have started on creating my Miro board to plan out my projects and to get an idea what task I will be doing each week.

From the announcement made by Ayla about planning week 1 and 2, I have started in completing this list.

I have also started on the A2: proposal refinement and planning + ethics modules - 6 key "ingredients slide"

I have used the scope/limits I have made in Des300 project proposal for this project. I will be refining this next week and onto the coming weeks when the project has roughly finished its planing stage. I will be using the human centred design (HCD) methodology and the process that I will be using in this research is both qualitative research and quantitative and I will be using the design thinking method to map the stages to a timeline.

Dec. 2012: Website Proposal Project, pt. 1

This is actually a really interesting assignment to find. Essentially, the professor had us propose a website, but he put us through a full greenlight process. (No wonder I took to project management instantly when I got into game dev.) We also made a sample version of the sites.

There's a lot of different pieces of this, but I think it's really interesting stuff, so I'm going to try to include all of it. (It's also one of the few instances of a website I actually made being documented at all. I used to do a lot of web dev, so that lock of documentation has been bothering me as I've been putting the archive together.) That's going to make this majorly long, but if project management's your jam, you may have fun with it.

Final Project Proposal

For my final project installation, re-imagining space, I will be creating a controversial piece that addresses our current social and political issues. I want to address gun rights and abortion rights side by side using the objects of dispensaries. In simpler terms, as easy as it is to buy guns, just see how easy it can be for women to do what is best for them even when safety is problematic to their lives.  

It is a concept that is understood today in the year 2022. Political decisions have affected all people especially women, parents, children and teachers. I am making it to assert more understanding and discussion. I am a firm believer that conversation solves problems. We must use our social media platforms as an advantage and show all sides of this story. I want to place this in the most private room of all, the restroom. Dispensaries have often been in restrooms for women on their menstrual cycles and it diminishes judgement in that space typically. I want the viewer to feel an awakening and a sense of compassion to women who deal with things that are out of their control. There will also be an additional aspect of complementary cigarettes. The viewer will understand that all are a part of the reason our human race dies.  

I will be using faux wood slabs, cardboard boxes, plastic film, cigarettes, water guns, black and grey spray paint, a wire hanger, acrylic paints, pencil, x-acto knife, and wooden parts. These components should add to an old western time period, to push the idea that we are going backwards and not forward in politics.  

I am using the powerful art initiative of German, Dada artist Hannah Hoch. Where her work pushes the idea of not feeling human.

The locale will be in the restroom. I do not feel comfortable entering the public bathrooms, but the dimensions are approximately 8’ x 5’ feet. I will only be viewing a portion of the apartment restroom, and plan to attach it to a wall near the paper towels and trash can, where dispensaries can be hung.  

The estimate of budget: (most of the materials I have gathered from home

TOTAL: $30 (possibly $40- any extra materials) 

Timeline:  

7/24 - layout with half or less of items 

7/25 - spray paint items, build with cardboard boxes 

7/26 - apply plastic film where appropriate 

7/27 - combine faux wood frame 

7/28 - glue cigarettes & add prices with sketch of coin insertion 

7/29 - spray paint coin insertion with silver/gray 

7/30 - design simple label for dispensaries 

7/31-8/1 - making gun realistic- spray paint in black

You didn't know what exactly was going through your fiance Katsuki's mind when he invited your exes to your friends-only wedding.

You grew even more suspicious when he swore to you on his life that he wouldn't say a word to them. That with the invitation, he just wanted to clear the air. After letting you choose the cake, taking care of the custom gown you wanted with his mom, and supporting you through family drama-It was really the only thing he truly requested during the full blown circus that was marrying a Pro-Hero. And if he was avoiding them anyway, how much harm could it be?

It was only during the reception, when Kirishima put the chair in the middle of the dancefloor and Katsuki shot a wild grin at your former lovers as he got up from the table, that you realized your mistake.

True to his word- Katsuki never said a thing to your exes. But then again, he didn't need to. Not with the way he hooked both your pretty heels over his shoulder as he dove under your skirts. Nearly growling, he nipped up your thigh to your garter. Chuckling hotly as he felt you tremble with need the moment he pressed a kiss to your clit, before he ripped the piece of lace down your leg with his teeth.

You should've known better. The only way Dynamight clears the air is with an explosion of sparks.
