The Hybrid Fossils
This "fossils" pokemon are not revived from bones, but rather they are cloned from prehistoric blood samples, recovered from another fossil pokemon
Tumblr media
This ancient Bug/Rock pokemon can be found and revived, to extract blood samples with which you can re-create the ancient pokemons, however, the blood samples recovered from the mosquito are usually deteriorated and to create a complete DNA sequence you will need to mix 2 samples. There are 4 diferente Blood samples: Mammal (Ice), Reptile (dragon), Bird (Rock) and Fish (Water)
Mammal/Reptile becomes Ice/Dragon, it is based on the inostrancevia alexandri the largest species of Gorgonopsid
Tumblr media
Mammal/Bird becomes Ice/Rock, it is based on the Aepyornis maximus known as the "Elephant Bird", the largest terrestrial bird that ever existed
Tumblr media
Fish/Reptile becomes Water/Dragon, it is basd on the shastasaurus sikanniensis, the largestest species of Ichtyosaurus
Tumblr media
Fish/Bird becomes Water/Rock, it is based on the Palaeeudyptes klekowskii, the largest penguin to ever live
Tumblr media
The man in charge of this experiment of prehistoric splicing is Professor Marrow, an expert on "Paleogenetic" and the one who discovered the whole process
Tumblr media
Professor Marrow is based on a mix of John Hammond from "Jurassic Park" and Dr. Moreau from "The island of Dr. Moreau"

Was thinking about my ideal game if I knew absolutely anything about game development ( i do not lol )
And settled on the idea of a cute prehistoric monster collector. There would be battling, base building, open world exploration, creature taming, romance , and lots and lots of character and base customization! Is this too much for one game? Probably yes. But it will never happen and this is just goofy fun :p 💖✌🏾
( ps yes I know of paleo pines i adore it )

Paradox Ceruledge Concept Sheet:
Tumblr media
Blazing Rogue, a past paradox pokemon, fights using a bone sickle and knife. Its armor consists of an especially dense fire about its torso, and trophies of its various hunts- Roaring Moon's skull, Shieldon plates and a skirt of long feathers. It will gladly fight foes head on but opts for more covert methods when possible.
This is the first custom design I've done of this kind, and working out a pose sheet dynamic was *very* fun despite me not having drawn humanoids in quite some time! My secret to poses is just looking at Samus' power suit concept art, it's got very digestible geometry.

My first fakemon design!
It's a rock type prehistoric horse (maybe a paradox form for mudbray?)
I took inspiration from the paintings in the Lascaux cave, stone tools, and Mesohippus!

For this paradox I was inspired by the sea scorpions of prehistory, and although I thought of using onis inspirations as its name in Japanese but I was not convinced so I went to the basics

I keep forgetting to post in here, so let's just pretend I don't, have this past paradox Furret as an apology 👐 But anyways, let's talk about it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I already said, Long Fangs is the past paradox form for Furret, and it's mainly based off of Carnotaurus, but also just some cartoon prehistory tropes in general, like the horns and the saber teeth.
Tumblr media
Unlike regular Furret, Long Fangs can run very fast, not just walk, mainly because of the already stablished Carnotaurus inspiration, who were really fast.
That's it from me for now, also as always here is its cry ✨

Now that Pragmagik has finally dropped his video with the final results of his "A Legendary Bird of Every Type" Pokemon design contest, I can finally share my entries to said contest!
I wish I had my original design notes I could just copy paste, but alas, since the channel is closed I guess I didn't save a copy elsewhere.
This is Rocatorce! I picked rock because it also felt like something that was counter-intuitive to flying and birds in general. It's based largely on ax-beaked pterosaurs such as Tropeognathus and Coloborhynchus, early flint (and obsidian, in the shiny) axes, and bearded vultures. Since all fossil Pokemon are also rock type, I wanted to lean into the prehistoric elements with this one. I gave it bone adornments, similar to Mandabuzz, since bearded vultures also eat marrow from bones, and bones seemed like a proper accessory for a prehistoric Pokemon. I also gave it a more lizard-like tail, rather than a feathered tail, to evoke more pterosaur. The rusty red and brown colors were another reference to bearded vultures, that roll in clay to get their red feather coloring.
Pokédex Entry: Believed to be a living relic, Rocatorce are older than recorded history. Fossil evidence shows that they flew the same skies as Archeops and Aerodactyl. They are extremely territorial, making their home on the tallest mountain peaks and viciously attacking any intruders. Climbing with its talons, it uses its rock-hard beak to to mine sheer cliffs for precious minerals to eat. It spends hours at a time rubbing its beak against smooth stones to keep it's blade razor sharp.

GOLGOLIATH (Ground/Ghost) & CRANIEMBERG (Ice/Ghost)
GOLGOLIATH (Golgotha/Goliath) The tar pit Pokemon. Its body is made of tar, brought to life by the restless souls of all the pokemon that perished trapped in it. It uses their bones as armor to protect its soft, sticky body. The shape of its body resembles a Paraceratherium and the skulls from its armor are those of a Brontotherium/Megacerops, a Woolly Mammoth (Upside down) and a Woolly Rhino
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CRANIEMBERG (Cranium/Iceberg/Cronenberg) The glacier Pokemon Its body is made of Glaciar ice and compacted snow, reanimated by the souls of the many pokemon forever trapped in it. It uses their bones as weapons to hunt for its prey. Its main body is shaped like a Megatherium and the skulls from its armor are those of an Uintatherium, a Smilodon and an Arsinotherium (upside down)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CRANIEMBERG's striped body is based on "Striped Icebergs" a phenomena in which icebergs melt and froze again over time, forming layers of different colors due to the impurities in the water and the difference in densities

SPEAR TOOTH
Water/Dark -- The Paradox Pokémon
This Pokémon resembles a sea monster of legend, said to eat ships. An old book describes it as Spear Tooth.
--
Tried my hand at designing a Paradox Pokemon! I'm fascinated by ancient animals and whales were the perfect thing to create a Paradox pokemon based on. This one is based heavily on Dorudon, hence the name. It'd be the only Scarlet pokemon smaller than its modern form, but whales have literally only gotten bigger so it works. I was going to base this on Kutchicetus but it was much harder to make it read as a Wailord relative, and I struggled even here.
