taking the rest of the day off practicing today because i performed in a recital today! i took this when warming up beforehand.

i performed 3 movements of Kinderszenen and i feel like it went pretty well. i was stressing it so much that i’m just glad it’s over.

practiced some new songs today - Black Leaf by John Paul White on ukulele

I wrote a little melody of my own on piano and also remembered one of the first songs I ever wrote, I'm still re-remembering some of the end parts but I mostly have it down. I never wrote lyrics to it only hummed but it would be cool to try and work on that. I don't remember exactly when I first wrote this particular song but definitely well over a decade ago. I'm thinking I was likely between the ages of 15-18. It felt emotional being able to play it again.

i finally figured out line weight!! i lined some old sketches lying around to see how i'd do and it's definitely a lot better than previous attempts

I don't talk about Constanta's (A DOWRY OF BLOOD) faith much but it's a cornerstone of the text and I will never regret making an unapologetic vampire an unrepentant Catholic. She lives balanced on the knife's edge between good and evil, day and night, darkness and light, and she never once considers herself a contradiction.

Because no matter what state my belief is in, no matter if there are times when I cannot hold space for my own faith much less the faith of others, she can keep that candle burning. She believes even on days when I find it hard to.

I’m starting to understand the appeal of the series. It tests me on how well I can strategically plan my moves, and will throughly punish me if I mess up significantly. Although I’m getting the feeling that I will benefit from tackling this game at a slow pace. This is clearly not made to be binged on. X/

I’ve felt so poor mentally and physically lately that I haven’t properly practiced in so long.

Today was frustrating. Passages that used to come easily to me are rusty now. It’s all to be expected, but I had hoped that this would be able to pull me out of my slump...

I guess I’ll just keep trying.

there are too many thoughts inside of me at all times.

#hello friends hope you all are doing well. my words have been abandoning me lately. #I talk a lot and feel like I say nothing. it is truly frustrating. #meanwhile I am doing a bible word study and realizing that all the things I have realized in the past might be valid #(namely the way that a lot of people in my church tradition try to reduce biblical concepts of 'peace' to a sort of inward emotional state #and that's not actually a great way to interpret the biblical concept of shalom. like at all. and massively cheats a lot of communities out #of the actual practical real-life extension of the kingdom and how it's supposed to function) #also I had a minor crisis a few days ago when I looked at a boy who I know only vaguely and thought 'oh. shoot. he's cute.' #I am not used to having these sorts of thoughts or at least not to acknowledging them to myself #not sure why I'm telling tumblr this but I have no one else to tell it to and I feel like I should get it out of my system lol :') #ok logging off again gotta eat some noodles and finish this assignment with is already late #I will see you guys at a later date #(probably not too much later tho bc it is spring break and I am unfortunately stuck at college and there are very few other people here :') #gurt says stuff
