I mean, PotC is technically a comedy with some more serious story arcs hammered into it (kinda like Gintama, but more serious), so Our Flag Means Death JUST FITS THE STORY. I cannot stress how HILARIOUS it would be if Jack knew Blackbeard mostly by his reputation of being cruel etc. and then had to sit through a tea party with Angelica and her two dads, because Blackbeard turned out to not be evil anymore. The fourth movie would be so much better if Blackbeard and Stede were sickeningly gay and Angelica had to run the ship, because her dads were unwilling to leave their room most of the time (not only doing sexy stuff, but also just reading and cuddling). And Jack would be like: "I don't believe I feared your dad, he is so cute". While Izzy Hands was spitting fire in the background, because “how dare they be nice” instead of cruel and evil pirates.

Speaking of hidden gay in pirates. How the fuck is it that Norrington didn’t helplessly fall in love with Jack Sparrow after Eli rejected him? That makes no sense. Disney, you do not get the pirates AT ALL.

for your Ariel, I'm not sure if you write classic Ariel or 1989 or 2023 or a blend but in any case I can very easily see a platonic relationship here that stems from like, mutual fascination with each others' worlds, growing into adventure/exploration buddies! I do have a crossover verse for the 2023 adaptation already but could absolutely just world-hop him over into other versions of the story based on my fantasy verse or work on a different third thing! And always I just think Henry and Ariel would make for very dear friends that is my idea of them, they both have that curiosity for people and ideas not of their own world and playfuless and I just think they'd have a lot of fun getting into messes with each other, is all

for Captain Hook; I think it would be very fun(ny) to force them to work together for some reason, because I think they'd despise each other. Hook is -broadly speaking- exactly the kind of person Henry dislikes, and there's a... not nonexistent amount of Youth Embodied™ to Henry's nature that echoes Peter and I just think, again, it would be really funny to corner them into having to play nice (or at least not killing each other, if they can't play nice.) We could strand them somewhere after a disaster, like a shipwreck or something? Although that's more plot that connection. Maybe we could cram Hook into the populations of Shipwreck, recently escaped from the island? And Henry has to deal wit him trying to get into the court or something? (P.S. If you didn't know this Hook actually has a blink and you'll miss it cameo in one of the potc books so we don't even have to reach that hard for a crossover, someone else already made it canon!)

And speaking of crossovers that are technically canon, (grown up) Henry's first line of dialogue is actually "It's a dutch barque, probably stolen by the pirate Bonnet." which actually massively uproots the previously spoken timeline of these movies but hey whose squinting at timelines, not me so actually he's also arguably already in there. I honestly don't have a specific plot in mind but in general I do think it'd be interesting to give Henry one of those moments where the stories he's heard seem...interesting when actually standing across from the person meant to have carried them out. It would set an interesting tone for whatever kind of ongoing interactions they have for Henry's first impression to be stories and the second, meeting (ofmd)Stede in person. After he got past the initial 'you're not serious?' I think they have the potential to ..maybe get along? It's really very hard to say. They can bond over books, if nothing else

Sparrington show up to make the boys jealous. Cue mutual pining, comedic misunderstandings and happy endings aplenty. ❤️

Started thinking about Ed pulling a Kierkegaard and denying his love for Stede out of a misguided sense of moral duty, then my brain was overtaken by @feriowind's Twitter posts about other pirates making Ed and/or Stede jealous, and voila, this fic was born.
