#henry and rey would make for an interesting dynamic to feel out if you want to plot that at some point!

plot please i have two little pirates 🫡
(Send plots please if you'd like to request plot/connection ideas!)
for your Ariel, I'm not sure if you write classic Ariel or 1989 or 2023 or a blend but in any case I can very easily see a platonic relationship here that stems from like, mutual fascination with each others' worlds, growing into adventure/exploration buddies! I do have a crossover verse for the 2023 adaptation already but could absolutely just world-hop him over into other versions of the story based on my fantasy verse or work on a different third thing! And always I just think Henry and Ariel would make for very dear friends that is my idea of them, they both have that curiosity for people and ideas not of their own world and playfuless and I just think they'd have a lot of fun getting into messes with each other, is all
for Captain Hook; I think it would be very fun(ny) to force them to work together for some reason, because I think they'd despise each other. Hook is -broadly speaking- exactly the kind of person Henry dislikes, and there's a... not nonexistent amount of Youth Embodied™ to Henry's nature that echoes Peter and I just think, again, it would be really funny to corner them into having to play nice (or at least not killing each other, if they can't play nice.) We could strand them somewhere after a disaster, like a shipwreck or something? Although that's more plot that connection. Maybe we could cram Hook into the populations of Shipwreck, recently escaped from the island? And Henry has to deal wit him trying to get into the court or something? (P.S. If you didn't know this Hook actually has a blink and you'll miss it cameo in one of the potc books so we don't even have to reach that hard for a crossover, someone else already made it canon!)
And speaking of crossovers that are technically canon, (grown up) Henry's first line of dialogue is actually "It's a dutch barque, probably stolen by the pirate Bonnet." which actually massively uproots the previously spoken timeline of these movies but hey whose squinting at timelines, not me so actually he's also arguably already in there. I honestly don't have a specific plot in mind but in general I do think it'd be interesting to give Henry one of those moments where the stories he's heard seem...interesting when actually standing across from the person meant to have carried them out. It would set an interesting tone for whatever kind of ongoing interactions they have for Henry's first impression to be stories and the second, meeting (ofmd)Stede in person. After he got past the initial 'you're not serious?' I think they have the potential to ..maybe get along? It's really very hard to say. They can bond over books, if nothing else

Hello, just wanna say that I love your work! You’ve really inspired me so much. I’ve wanted to write for a while but have been a bit scared to actually do so but I’ve decided that I would give it a go and overcome my fear. I have a question about the way you write characters tho: how do you write characters in a way in which they feel natural? Like, I read your stories and can honestly see them actually saying and doing those things in your stories. Again, thank you for being such an amazing person and a great inspiration! ❤️
Thank you! And when you start writing, I'd love to read it <22
So, there's two types of characters to write for generally, and that makes the difference.
PRE-MADE (like from shows and books that already have established personalities) -- There are two VERY important things to note. First, the way they talk. Second, the way they walk (or move in general). These small details are crucial because, after all, it's these small diffferences that change it all. People wouldn't like Eddie Munson (for instance) so much if he didn't have a boisterous and dramatic way of speaking. And even the way he walks is manic.
These seem like rather silly things to note. Obviously, hobbies and relationships with others are important. But those are easy to recognize. But they make all the difference because it's the small things that make someone different. Many people are interested in (Eddie Munson as the example again) DND. Rock and Roll. Being 'edgy.' But you know who else has those interests? The entire damn Hellfire club and the literal starting cast.
The way to note Talk :
Do they speak loudly or quietly? (Eddie Munson vs. Henry Creel)
Do they use eloquent speech or more colloquial slang? (Billy Loomis vs. Stu Macher)
Do they stutter/speak slowly or do they know what they want to say/speak quickly? (Steven Grant vs. Marc Spector)
Do they talk more often about serious topics or silly ones? (Jasper Hale vs. Alice Cullen)
Do they speak monotonely or passionately? (Kylo Ren vs. Rey)
Do they talk less or more? (Dwayne vs. Marko)
These questions seem silly and obsolete, but dialogue is half of a character. They show a character's personality easily right off the bat. ESPECIALLY if it's a character of whom's POV you're actively following.
The way to note Walk (and other actions) :
Do they move clumsily or gracefully? (Eddie Munson vs. Henry Creel)
Do they move slow or fast? (Billy Loomis vs. Stu Macher)
Are they prone to anxious ticks or stoic posture? (Steven Grant vs. Marc Spector)
Do they think deeply of their actions - past, present, or future - or do they go with the flow and think nothing of it? (Jasper Hale vs. Alice Cullen)
Are their actions driven by more negative or positive emotions? (Kylo Ren vs. Rey)
Do they try to blend into the background or stand out? (Dwayne vs. Marko)
Again, these are small things, but they make all the difference. It's easy to recognize hobbies or larger personalit traits or larger dynamics, but these make all the difference.
ORIGINAL CHARACTERS -- The lists supplied above ARE IMPORTANT NO MATTER WHAT. Ask those questions when writing for anyone or anything, original or otherwise.
However, these are brand new characters YOU are making. You always start off with basics.
Basics :
Name several outstanding strengths. Is your character brave? Are they intuitive? Are they cunning?
Name several flaws. Is your character stubborn? Are they tempermental? Are they sensitive?
Name several hobbies. Does your character like cleaning? Do they play sports? Do they draw?
Create a general support system (or lack thereof). What type of friend are they? Do they have a good relationship with certain family members or worse? How do they interact with strangers?
Create their general background. Were they bullied? Did their parents divorce? Did they struggle with mental health?
These questions are the important because they lead into the smaller details of the character.
Details :
To what degree are these strengths present and do they have fallbacks? Is your character so brave they are reckless? Do they focus on others more than themselves? What type of intelligence do they have?
Can the flaws be a strength to a certain degree? Can your character be stubborn enough to save the day? Can their anger be intimidating in the face of evil? Do they care deeply and empathize with others?
How do the hobbies manifest into certain habits? Is your character compulsively OCD because of their cleaning hobby? Do they stray from lazier activities thanks to their fit hobby? Do they draw a certain style or doodle on notes?
How do the dynamics differ from person to person? Are they sensitive with their mother and roughhousing with their father? Are they a motherly figure to their friends and drop anything for them? Are they socially anxious and avoid social interactions?
How does the background & potential trauma manifest into current behavior? Do they dislike yelling? Do they have tremors? Are they well-adjusted and unaware of their good upbringing?
After this, start delving into the question list above. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the details and that makes the difference. I make it a habit that, when creating the reader/characters for my novels, I draw from things that make real people unique.
Aside from this, I always put a little bit of myself into the reader when I struggle! We know each other best and when we're not sure how the people around us differentiate, I do some intrspection to see what details I know about myself.
I hope this was helpful (and not too long that you didn't end up reading at all). And I hope these lists change the way you both view the world around you and the way you watch characters on television!
Good luck with your writing, anon <22

Mash for the TV series one and all the questions and star wars for the salty asks
M*A*S*H
Favourite character: Dr.+Captain Benjamin Franklin “Hawkeye” Pierce, the one and only, and love of my life even though he really shouldn’t be
Funniest character: They’re… all hilarious in their own ways…. I love Hawkeye’s punning, Trapper’s one-liners, Frank’s patheticness, Klinger’s sheer zaniness…. Though Hawkeye and Trapper have had me in tears of laughter the most out of everyone, so I guess them
Best-looking character: None of them are especially handsome/pretty or anything, but I’ll go with pre-mustache BJ. I have yet to see anyone else pull off a pink henley like he did.
3 favourite ships: I don’t romantically ship anyone. I like how Hawkeye and Margaret’s relationship develops, the Radar/Henry father-son dynamic is adorable, and Frank and Margaret did make for some comedy gold even though she deserves sooooo much better than him.
Least favourite character: I honestly love all of the main cast. A lot of the one-off military brass higher-ups were complete assholes, so I guess one of them? I know this is cheating but so there.
Least favourite ship: I don’t see romantic Hawkeye/Trapper or Hawkeye/BJ (sorry 90% of the MASH fandom), so those, even though I love both friendships.
Reason why I watch it: The quality comedy, the zany characters, and the hope and humanity that (usually) persists even in the middle of the most depressing circumstances there could be. The show (and especially Hawkeye) was also one of the main things that helped me get through a pretty rough patch in my life, so, yeah, I’m eternally grateful for Alan Alda’s existence.
Why I started watching it: It would be on TV and my mom would sometimes watch it and I just kinda got sucked in
Aaand Salty Star Wars under the cut, bc this is probably gonna get long
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
Reylo. Sorry. But no. I hate that fucker and Rey deserves so much better.
2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
Most of them, tbh….. I’m really not a shipper.
3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
OHHHH YES. Many times.
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?
I already mentioned my disgust for reylo right
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
Not in Star Wars, at least, but that’s because I don’t ship anyone anyway. Except for Han/Leia and Kylo/purgatory. Those I do ship.
6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
Nope
7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?
The oversaturation of TFA stuff (especially when compared to Rogue One, which was, imo, a FAR superior movie but doesn’t have a third as much fandom recognition) cooled my feelings toward TFA somewhat. I still like it, but in more of a “whatever, it’s alright” sort of way.
8. Have you received anon hate? What about?
Pfft no I’m not that important
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
Kylo. Whiny little pissbaby. I don’t like Anakin either, but at least he had REASONS why he was such a tortured little whiner. Kylo doesn’t have any of those backstory sads, he’s just a not-so-little emo fuck with a nonsensical boner for the dark side.
Jabba and Palpatine are also terrible people, and I really do not understand the fandom’s obsession with Hux. He’s so boring. He’s just….. occasionally kinda there.
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
Attack of the Clones is irredeemably terrible in every single way. Sorry. (Not.) Though the Padme+Anakin “““romance”““ is especially cringeworthy.
11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
I don’t see enough love for Qui-Gon Jinn and his fuck-the-council-I-do-what-I-want poncho-wearing fabulousness
12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
I like the ewoks. Fight me.
13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
I think I’ve slandered Kylo enough for the time being
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
Can the Rogue One fandom maybe please stop shipping everyone in sight? I like Cassian/Jyn too, but frankly this is getting ridiculous. Also Bodhi. Y’all fuckers need to start showing some more love for him.
15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?
God forbid Star Wars ever becomes an anime…..
16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?
The entire prequels tbh. Just…. scrap them entirely, rewrite them from scratch so they actually make sense, practical effects > cgi, and hire a halfway competent director.
17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
Instead of Padme dying because “she lost the will to live” (?????) I’d have made her start what eventually becomes the rebellion and die in a way that actually means something and makes sense for her character. And wait a few years for that death so Leia actually CAN remember her like she claims to in RotJ.
18. Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased?
Uh…. what the fuck is this asking…… people can have different opinions and also everyone has biases……..? there is no ~objective shipping truth~ that people must be in denial from…….? what the fuck
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
Shippers. That goes for any and every fandom.
20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?
I guess Finn/Rey or Finn/Poe is as “““pure”““ as it gets. Have I ever mentioned that I hate tumblr’s obsession with “““purity”““, by the way? Because I do. I fucking despise it.
If we’re talking literal ships, then the Millennium Falcon is the most perfect piece of junk in the entire galaxy.
21. What are your thoughts on crack ships?
I mean, smugglers and drug dealers have to make a living too, though personally I think that captaining a crack ship would be too dangerous.
22. Popular character you hate?
Never mind I guess I’m not done bashing Kylo yet. Also, Yoda’s a reasonably interesting character but god I hate him and his terrible TERRIBLE black-and-white outlook on the world. Most of the Jedi Council is guilty of that, actually. I kinda hate them all.
23. Unpopular character you love?
I think I’ve already mentioned Qui-Gon and Bodhi
24. Would you recommend XXX to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes because for all its flaws Star Wars (the original trilogy at the very least) is a classic and deservedly so. It’s such a great archetypal underdog story with wonderful characters and action and MUSIC, DEAR GOD THE MUSIC, ALL HAIL JOHN WILLIAMS FOREVER AND EVER AMEN
25. How would you end XXX/Would you change the ending of XXX?
I mean, Star Wars as a whole is still ongoing. I’d change quite a few things in TFA, especially the whole Han/Leia (lack of a) thing. That was so unnecessary.
26. Most shippable character?
Han Solo spends his life in various spaceships, so probably him. Luke, Poe, Rey, and Anakin also qualify, as they have plenty of spaceship time.
27. Least shippable character?
Do we ever see Jabba on a ship? I think hed be too heavy and take up too much space, personally. He should stay on the ground.

Just as many other cities in France, Strasbourg is surely one that has to be seen and fully explored.
So close to the German border, Strasbourg has been passed back and forth between the two major powers throughout the centuries. You can tell the big influence both the French and German culture have been on the development of the city.
Have a look at what you can find in this part of Alsace through my Strasbourg architecture guide.

HOENHEIM TRAM STATION | ZAHA HADID |
Zaha Hadid has been called to design a tram-station and a car park in the northern part of Strasbourg.
The concept of dynamism is Avery extremely present in Zaha Hadid’s projects, specially in this case. The movement by cars, trams, bicycles and pedestrians materializes in the spatial elements of the station and the context as well. Nothing is static here. Every line, every surface has a trajectory and a trace.

PALAIS DE LA MUSIQUE ET DES CONGRES | REY+LUCQUET |
Palais de la Musique et des Congrès is part of the urban development project of the district located in the north of Strasbourg, close to the European Parliament.
What is really striking from the outside is the almost one kilometer-long arcade that runs around the entire building complex. It main feature consists in its steel twisting columns that give a more attractive and dynamic look at the complex facades.
Looking at photos of the interiors, the entire building looks stunning even from the inside. Unfortunately it was closed when I went there. Here are some photos from Archdaily so you can have a look at the interiors too.

The Strasbourg European Parliament is home of the plenary sessions during which the members of the European Parliament vote and take decisions. Of course every single aspect of the complex has a symbolic meaning behind.
The top of the building looks unfinished. That’s because Architecture Studio wanted to reflect the idea that the European project is dynamic and always ongoing. The skin of the entire structure glazed, symbolising the transparency of the democratic principles the European Union is founded on.
I found approaching the building from the river gives the best perspective over it so I suggest you to take the “Batorama” boat tour that takes you around the city.

Café L’Aubette is such a jewel from the 1920s De Stijl movement, designed by Theo van Doesburg.
It’s really clear Mondrian and Cubism influence in Aubette’s minimalist and geometric aesthetic.

PRINTEMPS | BIECHER ARCHITECTES |
I love when shopping centers are architecturally speaking this interesting!
This Printemps department store is in the very heart of Strasbourg, so you don’t have any excuse; it’s really impossible to miss it. It is the only metallic modern facade in the entire area which is also registered on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE | MARC MIMRAN |
The Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture is definitely a place to check.
The building really stands out from the crowd as you will easily notice all its volumes as a pile of metal boxes.
Unfortunately it was a grey day when I visited it but the translucent aluminium mesh that cover the facade create a wonderful effect. Opaque during the day and translucent at night, revealing the steel structure behind it.

Of course the medieval landmarks are a must see as well. The Cathedral is one of the most impressive examples of Gothic architecture in Europe.
From the viewing platform it is possible to get the most thrilling view over the entire city. Just climb the 332 steps up to the top to admire a sea of rooftops that stretches out as the Vosges and the Black Forest in Germany.

For many Strasbourg can simply be associated with La Petite France. The working class neighbourhood in medieval Strasbourg in which still nowadays many examples of timber-framed craftsmen’s homes and workshops have been preserved.

Ah this staircase! I read about it on an article on Dezeen years ago and since then I dreamt of seeing it myself. The staircase looks exactly as you see it in photos, magnificent.
A tornado made of wooden strips that wraps up a spiral staircase of a restaurant here in Strasbourg.
The entire place is the result of the reconversion of a former equestrian academy that kept untouched the beautiful wooden ceiling of the stud.
Even on the upper floor the dining area mixes modernity with the authenticity of the former function of the place. The leather details on the curved seats and on the private booths add a touch of luxury feeling.
I personally think that Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku have done a great job in redeveloping and enhancing in such an elegant way this piece of architectural heritage that Strasbourg boasts.

Now a couple of things I want to ask you.
First of all, have you been in Strasbourg? If so let me know writing a comment down here. I want to know what you think of it.
And if you know the city maybe you even know other interesting or remarkable places that I should add?
I collected here everything regarding architecture to visit that you wouldn’t normally find in an ordinary travel guide. My intention is to make it useful for all the architecture lovers out there so if you have suggestions just write me and let me know.
Lastly it would be very much appreciated if you can share it with anyone you think may be interested in having a look at this guide.
