Had this thought and thought you might understand it. I know Poe Dameron is played by Oscar Isaac, but when I see Poe, I don't see Oscar, I just see Poe. Like, they look the same, but also they don't. I see Poe as his own separate person.

Or, I could just be crazy.....

Nope, nope you're definitely not crazy, I talk about this all the time with my friends. Oscar is one of those rare actors that just kind of disappears into his roles — and no two characters even physically look the same, and it's not just because of hair or stubble ratio or whatever, there's just something different about him every time.

It really properly struck me last year (though I noticed while working through his filmography in 2021 that I also never thought about Poe watching any of his other movies) when I happened to have, I think, a Marc header on my blog and then one afternoon my top post was a gifset of Poe — and the difference was so staggering i sat there and stared between the two for a long time because even though i know 100% it's the same actor, im like. that's two entirely different people who just kind of look alike.

I also like tossing Santiago out as an example for this because man:

it blows my goddamned mind that Triple Frontier came out the same year as the Rise of Skywalker, because again, that is NOT the same man. But yet also it is!!!! This man is Talented, goddamn.

You may request anonymously

warnings: sunburn, aloe vera gel, poe dameron being a sweetie pie bf, autistic!poe autistic!reader again just as reference. poe will always be written as autistic and so will reader bc IM autistic. this is a warning and a threat

a/n: couldn't find a good gif for the header :( also who can say if this is canon verse or modern au. only ur heart can tell you. brought to you by my terrible sunburn even though I reapplied sunscreen so many times

"Oh, baby," were the first words out of Poe Dameron's mouth when he stepped into the bedroom and saw you standing in the bathroom. You wail a little, gesturing helplessly with the bottle of aloe.

"I put sunscreen on!" you exclaim. "I reapplied like four times! I don't understand!"

"Oh, sweetheart." Poe doesn't seem capable of actual words as he takes in your bright-red shoulder blades. He presses a single fingertip to your skin gently, pulling away when you hiss. Then he leans in and cranes his neck to kiss the side of your head.

"It hurts and I can't reach," you whimper, meeting his gaze in the mirror. You're being pathetic, you know, and despite loudly declaring to Jess only moments before that you didn't consider it a successful beach trip without sunburn, you really, really hate sunburn. You totally meant just turning a little pink, not bright red.

"I know it does," Poe murmurs sympathetically. "Here, let me help."

He reaches around and plucks the bottle of aloe gel from your hands, nudging you with a knuckle on your hip to face the sink fully. The first swipe of gel on your skin has you sagging and sighing with relief. Poe spreads the rest of it on with quick but gentle efficiency.

"There you go," he says softly, glancing up at you in the mirror before leaning down to kiss the nape of your neck briefly. "Wait here, I'll get you a shirt to put over it."

Poe disappears for a handful of seconds, giving you time to bask in the soothing coolness of the aloe on your sunburn, before he reappears, shirt in hand. You realize it's one of his as he helps you tug it on, falling down to the tops of your thighs. Poe wasn't all that much bigger than you but his broad shoulders necessitated larger sized shirts than he would need otherwise, which was only a win-win for you, because you appreciated Poe's broad shoulders, and because you liked your shirts on the loose side.

"Thanks, Poe," you murmur, turning around in his arms to tuck yourself close for a hug. Poe's arms go around your waist and he presses his cheek to yours.

"Nothin' to it, sweetheart."

You shiver abruptly and sigh, dejected again, because it is so fucked up that sunburn makes you cold.

"Can we snuggle?" you ask, words muffled into Poe's shirt. You feel more than hear his quiet laughter and he kisses the top of your head.

"Course we can. We can even put on a movie. I'm feeling pretty worn out too."

Gingerly, you get comfy on the sofa as Poe puts on a movie and brings back some bottles of water, so you can make sure you stay hydrated. Poe plops down next to you, one foot tucked under his leg, the other leg stretched out and propped up on the low table. He lifts his arm and you snuggle next to him, wincing as your shirt rubs your sunburn uncomfortably.

"Cozy?" Poe asks once you stop squirming. And you are, actually. Probably helps that Poe has his arm loose and comforting around your shoulders, tucking you close.

"Yeah," you say with a soft smile, glancing up at him. "Very."
